Too expensive. One you download the app you want to continue using it, but it's about $33 a month! Except the 7day free trial. Otherwise it's a great way to learn french.

Love it!. I have been looking for something decent to review my long-forgotten French. Most apps just don’t do it for me. I doubt this by itself is enough but boy it sure helps! — a note after getting a little further into the lessons. The app courses have been criticized for how expensive they are, and I assume that many are doing the lessons at someone else’s expense, like an employer. I am doing this on my own just for fun and have felt pretty self-indulgent for buying in so heavily. But so far it is perfect for an isolated learner like me. You are buying a superbly fine-tuned computer course PLUS As much personalized instruction as you ask for. You can write in your inquiries in French and a human being answers promptly and helpfully. So there you are, corresponding in French. A great confidence builder. I have no regrets about the cost. You just need to make full use of what the app is offering.

Super. A very clever app! Keeps you engaged and amused while you're reviewing or correcting what you knew, and interested in learning many things you either forgot or didn't know about French and French culture. Best suited for Francophiles who already possess an intermediate command of the language. Kudos to its spirited creators!

Me Talk Pretty One Day. After nearly four hundred lessons I am as delighted with Frantastique as on the first day. This is far beyond the grind of grammar and tense. The story lines lead through many facets of French culture both expected and not. I miss it greatly on the weekends.

Amazing lessons, too expensive. I really like this app, entertaining and gives intelligent semi personal feedback. Nice explanations and a variety of activities. However, 400 dollars for fifteen minutes five times a week is way too much. I would consider buying a subscription at 100$ lower the price so we can join! :)

Honors its name!. It's absolutely fantastic. Learn more on a daily basis and keep your french always fresh with this app. Very funny. Very didactic. Super patient. It takes a couple of minutes to learn by just having fun.

good way to learn french on your own. Likely this is the best of the iPad French language courses. It is entertaining and fun to learn. Still, it doesn't replace having to speak French in front of people and having to communicate what is on your mind. I wish it cost less than it does; this is one of the more expensive language courses on the iPad. I have found it better than Rosetta Stone.

Fun & Easy to Understand Corrections. I decided to buy Frantastique's subscription course, because I want to become fluent in the French I started studying as a young student. Each lesson is fun, brief, and definitely easy to integrate into even the busiest schedule. The best part about the lessons is that the corrections, content, and level are all personalized. I know I will enjoy the officially recognized certificate regarding my French language level after 6 months of lessons.

Great App Very Amusing. Love this app. Occasionally I have troubles with questions when I do not understand the French instructions, but that's my problem -- English hints are always available.

The best comprehensive French tutor. This is by far the best French teaching app I have found. It assesses your level of fluency and customizes lessons based on your ability. I highly recommend this app.

Fun Learning. I love the story. It's advancing my French quickly and I'm having a blast doing it. I laugh at some of the videos and ways they describe things. I'm using this everyday and telling people about it. Trop bien !!

Absolutely brilliant app. Best app to learn French. Worth every penny !

Quirky and helpful. I decided to pick up an app to help me brush up on my French. I'm glad I chose this one. The lessons are personalized to what I need to focus on and the animations are fun and funky with well written and spoken dialogue to help with ear training. Would recommend highly if you want a bite sized refresher. I do not know how well it would be for someone with no previous knowledge of the language as it jumps in quite quick with oral dictation and verb conjugations.

Too pricy. Some clever approaches, but the price is too high. Paying on a monthly basis puts the price at $70-something per month. For an app? How nuts is that? Also there's a point at which cleverness becomes distracting and this app sometimes reaches that point.

Worth the price - you learn and it's fun. I love this app - in addition to the app's great sense of humour, you are immersed in french culture and sayings. You can also prioritize what you want to learn (e.g. Business, everyday situations, etc). It's 15 minutes a day and my french has improved significantly.

Amazing App!. This is a really great way to learn French- you have complete flexibility as to when you get lessons, and each one is different, with a variety of activities. They also manage to work humor into the grammar lessons, which I for one appreciate! I've tried a number of apps for language learning, and this is the only one I've kept using.

Fun way to learn French. I just started to use the app and I already love it. So different than anything out there. It's fun, very French and gives you a lot of grammar explanations/practice without being a bore. You can take a 7 day free trial and decide for yourself if it you want to continue to the paid version.

Not for Newbies. This is the most fantastic language app ever and I have tried many. But I am starting with two courses of French in community college and the app is still a challenge. So use other resources as you need to help. I find the grammar explanations clear and concise and helpful. The clever stories are fun even for a 60 year old. It should be considered a supplement to speaking and not a replacement. Seriously, no app can replace talking to real people. That is too much of an expectation and not a fair criticism. That said, the best way to learn — go to France. I will get back to France as soon as I can! With this app I will feel more confident to speak with the locals in their native tongue....but there are grumpy people all over the world.

The best French lesson app. I can't say enough about how much I love this app. The lessons are funny and enjoyable to the point that I'm disappointed if I forget to do my daily lesson. Each one is designed thoughtfully and with so much detail. They poke fun of the French while always giving you little culture lessons. The jokes are snarky; you may not have perfect French but you are treated you like an adult. It is immersive yet allows you to translate into English if you really need to, which is helpful. I took French in college so I wasn't a total beginner. If you are looking to pick up your rusty French, forget other apps, this is the one for you! If only they had one for Spanish too.

Hyperbon!. Great app, fun, learning a lot. Not cheap, and I wish I didn't have to choose certain days of the week to get my lessons delivered.

Fun and immersive. This app is for those who want to seriously get into French and stay there. Yes, Duolingo is free, but it lacks the depth and immersion to hook most people for the long haul. I think the asking price for the app (~$30/mo) is very fair considering the level of immersion and tailored lessons that you receive. You will learn so much about the language, people and culture, both French and French-Canadien. The app itself works flawlessly on my iPhone 5.

Excellent. But not for beginners. You need basic grammar, conjugations, and a beginners vocabulary or you’ll be lost. For those with the basics it’s a great tool

Excellent app. This not for total beginners but it adjusts the lessons based on your performance. its challenging but definitely worth the money and your time. the lessons combine humor, history, current French music with grammar. i definitely am enjoying it

Best French learning app. I have tried them all: free, pay as you go, monthly subscriptions... none are as good as this one. I have taken legit European level French lessons before as well. It's funny and I really feel like I'm learning french. With other apps (cough Duolingo) I have noticed it chooses different translations than professional certified teachers do, which is annoying if you've taken the European lessons. This app follows the same levels that you would take if you study abroad. Highly recommend.

Great Customer Support. I’m updating my previous rating from 1 to 4 Stars because of the customer support. Although they are not the engineers, they do everything they can to help and will push through whatever content you need if/when requested (which is really great customer service when you think about most other language apps out there). I still question the logic of the algorithm because of the number of times the same verb tense has been presented over the years, however, with manual help from the support team, issues can be addressed.

Best real French language. This system is smart, engaging, and immerses the student in the way living in Paris and working in a French company would. The program learns and tailors itself to your needs. It also offers a good level of personal choices and freedom to review a notebook kept of your work. The lesson content is savvy, fun and very French in humor with pop culture and historical references. Next best thing to having daily sessions with a French tutor.

Best French app I have used. I have searched far and wide for a decent French app, and let me say this was far from decent. This app is amazing and touches on improving very vital necessities for a learning French student. The video and audios presented are always entertaining and the comprehension question are also great. If you're ever stuck on something there's both an explanation in English and French. Also, there is an option to continue being fed a topic you don't understand. All these things are really useful and great! This app again is amazing.

The best language app I've used. I've tried several apps and courses over the years and this one is the best I've used. Well worth the money if you're committed to learning French. I've combined the app with a french language online radio stream (Radio-Canada) and I'm making very good progress. Note: I think you need to have some basic French knowledge to get the most out of the app.

The worst !. Some days you get lessons some days you don’t , after ten days I have received no further lessons , corrections are slow in coming , it’s all about grammar , if you don’t have a good understanding of grammar you will be lost , the cartoons are very annoying, and it’s very expensive, you can get the same info by reading a grammar book, does little to help you speak the language

One of the best I've found. This is probably the best method of online learning I've found so far. I already had a pretty strong base, but after 25 years of not studying I've forgotten tons. I've tried this, Rosetta Stone, and Duolingo, and while they each have their advantages (Duolingo being free of course), this is easily the most effective.

Delightful sense of humor (bien sûr!). The most fun I have had with grammar (!!!) since reading the entire Astérix y Obelix series!

Excellent for those with baseline knowledge. I love this app so much that I am willing to pay the hefty subscription cost. It is like having a personal teacher. The material is excellent and interesting. I lived in France for a long time and had fluency but it's been several years. This app has been fantastic for helping me remember my working vocabulary. Plus it is super funny! Francophiles will love it.

Love this!. It's pricey, but I think it's so worth it. The lesson every day is helping my french improve, & its short & fun to do. It's become a daily habit-- I'm sad on the days I don't get a lesson!

This is fun!. This app is great. It's very French-ly whimsical and uses cartoons and funny situations for learning, which I find very entertaining. Also, you can complete lessons online or on the app, which is convenient. Impressed with the lessons as well, because you are learning different forms in the context of a situation so I remember say the imperative or futur proche better than using traditional repetition or memorization techniques. I'm very happy with it.

Excellent app and excellent content. All lessons very well structured and followed up. The content of the lessons constantly updated and presented in very friendly manner with nice sense of humor. Each lesson is divided into 3 parts: follow up on previous errors/mistakes, then lesson itself and then few exercises on grammar and vocabulary. Only one remark: after a year and half only grammar part of the lessons disappear and, de-facto, only follow up and few exercises remain.

Too advanced for beginners. The app is only fun if you already know enough french to read and understand most of the content because it is highly based around grammatical content. It attempts to be fun but is not fun and confusing for people actually learning from knowing nothing at all. I think it was built for intermediate level students that are already studying in a lesson based class. The en english buttons don't translate instructions more than once. Given that I'm struggling to even get past 7 lesson tests to even get to the real lesson based content I don't think I'd enjoy paying for something way over my head. Also, why am I being tested over 7 lessons? Why not just one preliminary test and set me on the appropriate lesson level? I also think that basing the lessons on grammatical content does nothing to help someone learn to speak. This app will only create students that have good grammatical book skills and no applicable speaking ability.

Up to 5 lessons a week. Up to 5 lessons a week, that about sums up my thoughts about this app. It’s insanely expensive, and you are held back from trying to go further at your own pace. Listen if I’m paying hundreds of dollars a year for an app, I want to be able to get more than 5 lessons a week out of it. It was cheaper for me to sign up for French classes and take them in person for two semesters at my local college than it would be for me to use this app. Think about it.

Great Learning App. This is one of the best apps available to learn French. It allows you to progress logically, and provides great examples, reasons, and explanations. I have learnt more from this app than from past classes.

Pretty darn good. Used it for 6 months - well structured and challenging. Stimulates you to explore the idiosyncrasies and become familiar with colloquial French. Is expensive but good value IMHO. Entertaining with zany and at times risque humour.

worth a free trial. based on the first (free) lesson, it's funny, well-built (although maybe a bit clunky), and provides a good structure, but damn expensive for even the basic version (although compared to real lessons maybe not) (also napoleon wasn't short)

Motivating and effective. Not only do I look forward to my lessons, but my French has improved dramatically.

Very effective for learning French. I’ve been doing the lessons for two months and already see a significant improvement in my French grammar and vocabulary. That being said, I wish this app could also add a flash-cards section to help us further practice and memorize newly-learned words - just a little personal opinion.

Ropes you in with a few free lessons first. It's like $60 a month for limited lessons. Unless you want to pay a year in advance, in which case it's closer to $30. It's cute but not that cute. I would've considered it for $30 month-to-month, but no.
