Excellent. These Hunter Research apps are quite useful, easy to use and offer terrific utility for anyone who works or plays outdoors. In-app purchases add utility and are well worth the modest expense.(This comment revised to excise remarks about in-app purchases not transferring across devices. See developer statement nearby.)

A little disappointed on IPad. I got to this link from the "other apps by hunter" feature of the app store. Wanted to use this as the main compass on a boat, but I really didn't notice that this is NOT an iPad app but an iPhone app. I mean it works, but the graphics are small and poorly rendered on an iPad. It doesn't seem that it would be a lot of work on the developers part to provide native screen support for the larger iPad screen (hint, hint). Also would like an option to REMOVE the bubble levels from the screen and perhaps another one to hide the tan-colored info boxes at either end for a cleaner look in a marine instrument environment. I DO like the extra work put into making the rosette appear 3D though, that is brilliant!

Very well done!. I really like this application. For the 5th star, consider adding UTM coordinates, and ability to copy the readings to the clipboard. I would love to be able to paste them into Filemaker Go.

Another Great APP from Hunter Research.. I’m big fan of Hunter’s Theodolite App and picked this app up to complete the package. Another quality app from a great company with EXCELLENT support.

Best compass for the iPhone. This is one of the best compasses available for the iPhone, I really like that shows true and magnetic north at the same time. 5 stars well deserved.

Not great. Using it on an iPhone 4 Less accurate than iPhone compass. Pointer seems to get "confused", weaving back and forth while sitting on a table outside. Direction algorithm needs some work I think.

No UTMs!?. This app would get a five star rating if you could use UTMs instead of Degrees, Minutes, Seconds. DMS is not very useful for what I want to be doing. Especially if it is being advertised as a "Geologic Compass".

Fantastic Compass. Only had it 30 minutes and it is the best compass I have seen.

No True North. No matter what or where it will not display True Azimuth. It does show L,L,E and precision.

Compass. I really like it. It loads great on 6 plus. Like that it provided mag north and real north w variation. Easy to use and accurate

Almost what I want it to be. I like everything about the app, but would like one addition. I'd like to see an setting allowing adjustment +\- of so many degrees to make it more accurate. I know the app is limited to the info it gets from the phone, but to be able to set it to compensate for the phones deficiency would be awesome. As it stands now, mine is about 10 to 20 degrees off from my Trimble/meridian setup I use at work.

Simply the best compass app. This is a wonderful app, it displays a compass with BOTH true AND mag North scales, GPS position, including altitude, and accuracy. And it also has multi-axis bubble levels. The default datum is WGS 84 but plenty more are available in the optional add-on.

Best Compass App. Hands down the best compass app available. Good accuracy and a beautiful, realistic interface. Last update added UTM support! Much appreciated! Would love to see fine tune adjustments added to compensate for a devices individual biases and shortcomings. Keep up the great work..

Very easy and convenient.. This app has proven to be a useful. I have used this a a first step tool when a driver has turned over a truck while dumping for our company to determine if the area was level and my findings were equal to that of professional equipment.

The most elegant and useful professional compass app. What it does, it does incredibly well - true and magnetic bearings, when either horizontal or vertical. Gps location readout, including magnitude of error. 2-dimensional bubble levels plus analog scale so you can assure the instrument is level. Choice of scales. I have tried multiple compass apps. This one is so intuitive yet powerful it easily rises to my top preference.

Must Have for CAP. I have used Hunter's great Theodolite app for several years. With a Bad Elf GPS receiver, this is an awesomely accurate app and a must have for any pilot as a backup. Recommend to all Civil Air Patrol Emergency Services personnel. The best I've seen.

Inaccurate to the death of me. I’m on a ship with a current heading of 040. In open air, not inside, out on the helideck in view of a million stars, the app says my current heading is 343.

Really like but.... I love these apps. Used them for years for rough estimates; however, I wish the margin of errors were smaller. In the compass it is obvious that the margin of error is very conservative, but still would prefer them to be smaller. I would suggest these apps to anyone though.

Won’t Display True North. The app won’t display true north. It just states NA (not available) in the true north slot. And it doesn’t show why it’s NA, or what to adjust to get it to show true north. Having true north is the only reason I downloaded this app.

Love the new look. Very functional.

Pro compass. I don't know what app the other reviewers are using, but the one I've downloaded has wonderful graphics and amazing screen clarity; however the screen clearly states that the compass heading indicated is +/- 35 degrees. That is 1/5 of the dial. When I'm in the far Northern Minnesota territories a 5 degree error is serious. They need to get the error down to a fraction of the local magnetic deviation.

Easy to use for all purposes. This is both a fine scientific instrument and an easy to use tool. For a small investment you have a tool that can be used to hang a picture, or conduct a field survey. It’s my go-to for measuring!

GPS and Compass in one-it's great!. This an awesome app! GPS receiver and compass in one. Bearings seem to be much more accurate than the conservative 15 degree uncertainty range stated.

Best compass app. I love this compass app vs others. Not to mention its inclinometer is also nice for leveling or adjusting tilts.

Awesome app. Really well thought out and detailed application that is also extremely simple and easy to use. The interface is really smooth and the map feature is a huge plus when you need to flip over and see where you are on the map. It would be a huge value add if the topographic information could be an option as well. Great job guys!

Beautiful and effective. Graphic detail is excellent and the rosette responds to incline perfectly. Direction has been accurate in my tests. Also displays position and supports MGRS, making it perfect for the military or metric-minded.

Pro Compass as a medical device. Pro Compass accurately reports altitudes, a matter of great import to persons with compromised pulmonary health issues. The app is profoundly professional in its development, limited only by the sensitivities of the iPhone/iPad sensors. Anyone will have a hard time doing better.

Minor gripe. Professionally done but a minor gripe on optional "Datum Pack". If purchasing multiple apps from this programmer, be aware that the optional datum pack will only work within the app it was purchased in. Ie, the datum pack for pro compass won't work for pro camera without purchasing it a second time within pro camera.

Great app!!. Having the capability of using the compass and level at the same time is a great feature. Flying drones, this comes in very handy.

As Expected. Another home run for Hunter. Best digital compass. Period.

Outstanding. I spent the majority of my military career as a Field Artilleryman. In the Field Artillery having an accurate compass is an absolute necessity! During my time I would have gladly used this application in lieu of anything readily available at the time. Once you become accustomed to this application it is far more accurate and easier to use than the standard M2 used by the Army. Having access to the datum packs further enhances this compasses use and accuracy. I wholeheartedly recommend this application and the purchase of the datum pack to anyone who has a need for a compass in the field! If there is a better compass app in the store I've yet to find it! Dr Hunter did an outstanding job.

Great. One of the best compasses on the app store it would be nice if the needle was red for north black for south and have the ability to open theodolite at the touch of a button for photos of the area. Still a great compass still wish it worked in conjunction with theodolite.

Great app. Needs UTM. I love this app and want to use it for quick position info, but it doesn't have UTM as a format so it's not compatible with my paper map.

Emergency Location Within 10Meters Using UTM-B. I use Compass and Theodite from this developer and am very satisfied going on about 5 years now. Recently I have been encouraging my loved ones to place Pro Compass App on the first page of their iPhone with settings on UTM-B. Now if they have an emergency in today’s unstable environment, they can dial 911 and read the UTM-B number when they don’t know exactly where they are at. Especially import for our most vulnerable family members.

Wow this is great. This is a great compass. I know have used it out kayaking and has worked flawlessly.

App is broken. iPhone 6, the app takes forever to load the map, then in places me in the wrong continent. I am physically in Colorado and the map has me off the coast ofAfrica.

Pro Compass. I would remove the pro in pro compass. It does have a 15 degree error that can be as much as 20-25 degrees - somewhat unnerving since it is listed under the navigation category. That much error will get you lost bigger than Stuttgart. Overall it is a nice distraction app.

No reason not to spend the $1. It's really cool. If you're looking to upgrade over stock iOS compass look no further. Feature rich but still easy to use. Someone complained it was not an iPad app. It never claimed to be! Foul ball on the negative review there!

Great tool. A great tool and very good app. Personally I prefer the previous look and feel - “refreshed” graphics seem to go against the fundamental idea. Still looks 1000x better than the built-in compass though and far more usable.

Excellent. The best of many nav apps I have tried. If you have wifi it will get you there with ease, otherwise you still have the compass.

Big small issue. I love this app. I’m an old surveyor and this is like using an old transit. My one (BIG) issue is when I pick my location, it tells me that I’m off the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. I am actually in Plano Texas. Fix that and it’s 5 stars+.

Go-to apps for me. Well built tools. Buy the bundle.

Good combination. I have been looking for one app that combines mapping, a compass & gps coordinates etc. & provides a bearing or pointer to a GPS coordinate destination. If this app could add that feature it would be the swiss pocket knife of iphone nav apps! Already saves flicking between several power hungry nav apps as it is.

Doesn't work.. This has been a disappointment! Purchased the app and nothing works. Compass is frozen, inclinometer calibration remains on 'calibration in progress' window without doing anything ....

Excellent app - corrects for declination. Exactly what I needfor bushwalking - a compass app that shows magnetic north AND true North together, and automatically applies the magnetic deviation based on GPS location. Plus it reads out GPS coords and altitude, all on the same compact display.

Works Well. Was looking for a vertical compass to tune in a Yagi antenna (mounted on the edge of a two story building, had to stand on tippy toes to read the iPhone compass and bright sunlight didn’t help) but was put off by the price. This app solved the problem at a considerable cost saving. Thanks

Inaccurate. App is very inaccurate and therefore misleading

Excellent and useful. Great for orienting and recording photography details. Also perfect for accurately leveling a panorama head.

Awesome. I'm an Infantry Instructor in the Australian Army, and have served 14 years in the job so far. This app is better than the $400 GPS that I normally use as back up in navigation.

Compass settings. East & west r setup on t wrong sides with relationship 2 North

Mss. Should be a nice app but the compass has problems here on central coast NSW Australia. It puts true north to the east of magnetic whereas it should be to the west.

Not reliable for navigation. Don't rely on this to use for navigation. On an iPhone compass reading is +-20 degre.

Phenomenal App. Great job - love theodolite- keep them coming (and) great job - well done. Anyone considering a "Hunter" App - go for it they're work/apps are great!!!

Compass way off. Compass is 60 degrees off Polaris in Central Ontario. No interference around in cottage country. Other compass apps and stargazing apps work flawlessly. Interface feels dated.

Great app. Meh icon changes.. Love the app (as ever) but I miss the old icon/logo. The old one was much more in keeping with the app. (Love the Theodolite icon – please don’t change that one).

Pro compass. Again, a wonderful app from Hunter. Very professional looking, functional and apparently very accurate/precise. Great implementation of iPhone resources. It might be nicer if the needle pointer was in a contrasting color, say red or green etc.

This is no toy!!. Geodesic info at your finger tip.Works great on iPhone & iPad. Too bad I can’t get rid of the iPhone compass. I also have Theodolite. How about a “red” backlight for us owls and astronomers?

Outstanding as Science Class Instrument. In a bottle rockets class at ArizonaScienceLab.org we needed a low-cost transit to measure azimuth and elevation of students' bottle rockets at their apogee. My iPhone on a 1x3 board, clamped to a tripod, did the trick. This app is stable and easy to use. And at this price, it can't be beat. The only thing I'd add for my use is a display mode with large heading and elevation numbers to make it easy to read in the field.

Great App!. This is very good app. Any chance of getting DM.mm format as on your Theodolite app (also a very good app)? Also, any chance of separating the 10 digit string under MGRS and UTM coordinates with a single space? Having a space would make plotting points easier. Thanks!
