Seems ok. Not an exceptionally amazing app - but it seems to function very well. I'm rating it 3 out of 5 because the English used in the app is awful. I feel that someone who wishes to publish an app to the world wide market - even if it's not in their native language - should take the extra time to proof read it for grammar and/or hire someone who is a native speaker to correct the phraseology in the app.

You need this app. The NOAH people were visiting to discuss the coming Cascadia quake and tsunami and the related radio warning system. I asked if it would warn us about big CMEs that might be emitted. He said no! Not his problem! Typical civil “service”.

A problem. This app has been working just fine until lately. Each time I try to launch the app, it starts the process and then shuts down back to the icon. I recently updated to iOS 11, but not sure if this is the reason App is now working again. I enjoy this app and appreciate it’s timely alerts and information. If one is interested in knowing in advance of solar activity, this app is THE one to get.

Amazing amount of fascinating info all scrunched up into one little app. Love this app It’s full of fascinating facts, videos, pics, live streams and of course it’s also an early warning system for potentially dangerous solar storms, etc. it’s the best $.99 I’ve ever spent...;)

Very dependable and timely!!!. This app is GREAT! It protects my family and me from harmful surges of solar radiation, both on the ground and in the air. I can also track ISS and watch as it passes after sunset. There’s also all sorts of Prepper advice revolving around power outages and EMPs. Get this app if you prep. You won’t be sorry. Jim

Good info, but dive in, don’t just trust the alertsm. The details are extremely useful, as to satellite TV/Internet difficulties, power company interrupions, etc. However, the alerts or lack thereof are not always in synchrony. I’ve learned to just open the app and read the highly useful and accurate details.

Information that’s difficult to get otherwise. Great app. It pulls together information that is time-consuming to get otherwise. My only complaint is that the user interface is too complicated for my liking. But eventually you do get used to it.

Impressive but room for improvement. This app has lots of different items to look at and things to learn from. I also like how it warns of upcoming events with potential side effects. I enjoy the different views of the sun, but really wish there was something that explained the purpose behind each of those views, such as what that particular filter makes clearer.

Check list for solar alerts. Normally I don't participate in these reviews, however in reading some of them, I was somewhat disappointed, not everything works as it should,but understanding it should lead to researching and finding the problem. This app does the following: 1. Splash screen of alerts,today,tomorrow and the day after. 2. Secure push servers "preventative test". 3. Aurora ovation north pole. 4. Updated images & graphs Worldwide. 5. Solar images & graphs (courtesy of NASA's Goddard space flight center) 42 AIA solar images & graphs with explanation as to what they are for. 6. Precautions (for you the public to take) for an extreme solar event,16 plates to access information. For those of you who already know this disregard. I have had this app on a 64 gig ipod touch which is 4 years old. This is a great public service and worth it. Respectfully to everyone

Have used this app for years now. It’s always in the background updating quietly. Really reliable and great for fast alerts and forecast information. Always my initial go-to for solar data - and I’ve tried quite a few other apps that have claimed great things and delivered a bunch of NASA pics that anyone could get online. Love this app!

Nice!. I like the app a lot. It’s probably the successor to the app I had before which was done by the NASA Heliosscience Department. This one fits right in! If you care to understand why things are happening (including people acting weird) get the app. Well worth it!

Too much drama and egregious exaggeration via "Critical" warning notifications!. I've had this app installed for six years, and while the information content is generally OK when one is looking at the app dashboard, this app CONSTANTLY exaggerates the risk level to the hysterical via exaggerated alert notifications! I received two "Critical" alerts today for a "moderate" solar storm. Please ramp down the hysteria, and only send out alerts that correctly and accurately characterize the actual risk!

From when Solar Flares will happen, With real time video availability, even where International Space Station (ISS) is In real time! PLUS extra information on what to do before, during and after a full blown Solar Flare alert that would affect business and home grids. This is absolutely the BEST science app I’ve come across. I’m so glad I purchased this one.

updated review - ty ty this app is a lifesaver for me. the app is working again! wonderful. i really appreciate this app - the presentation is excellent compared to websites. I use this regularly for health reasons so it is a handy app to have not only for electronics and spotting northern lights but for those of us with fatigue. I can’t give 5 stars because they are so difficult to reach for customer support. their website has lots of information and an email address but no live links for help and no reply back to repeated attempts to email. i am maintaining my subscription because it really is a great app. ironically they just need improved communication between customer an developer.

I love this app!. It’s nice to have so many tools right at my fingertips. I alert friends of warnings and noticed a correlation between solar activity and earthquake/volcanic activity. May be just coincidence, but it’s got me thinking! I live near the New Madrid fault line that I’ve heard could pop any time since I was in the university! It’s fine with me if it waits another hundred years, lol. I do get prepared on alert days just in case. I have my solar panel for my camper in a protected place underground. While not a full faraday cage I’m hoping that in its case and inside cardboard and padding, and between the washer and dryer it will keep protected underground. The unplugged microwave works for small items like cell phone and gps as long as the towers and satellites are up and running. The pictures of auroras alone is reason enough to get this app! I do wish they’d zoom out on more of the Solar images so I can see our whole star, but I know you can’t control how they set the cameras. That flare that got two satellites on the night side of earth was a wake up call for me...thank you for this app!

Buyer beware. I purchased this app a couple of years ago. A few months ago they changed to a yearly subscription. I am okay with that. But a few weeks ago they said I need to change to a monthly subscription. If that happens I will file a complaint with Apple to deal with this company. I agreed to a contract and they want to change it not a month after? I would not buy this app until I lost in a month to see if they charge me.

Timely notice of critical events. One of the few places that you can get timely notice of solar events potentially impacting Earth. A must have for Emergency Preparedness. A bargain at twice the price!

It's better. The latest update seemed to clear up some if my early frustrations with this app. Although the notifications still follow Spaceweather paid service they are not nearly as far behind. It's been good to have during this phase if the solar cycle.

Important and Useful. You would be making a very significant mistake not purchasing this app it's well done most of the reviewers are not scientists or engineers. This information is more than important support this developer get this application and give yourself a chance by being forewarned.

There are so many variables within the app itself that are fantastic. From actual readings of any and everything you want to know , to articles written about what has happened in our suns past. Fascinating Reads. One is able to view The ISS LIVE. I refer to this app everyday. I very much appreciate receiving warnings of imminent events as well as reading about events happening now with our Sun as it prepares to enter a Solar Maximum Stage - and what that involves for Earth. Solid App. Nice app, with solid information. The alerts are nice and the map of solar impact is okay. I’d like to see a bit easier to navigate layout with better, more detailed links to information. It took me a bit to get used to where everything was at but after that it has been smooth sailing. I would recommend this app for those interested in solar activity and being able to monitor behaviors of electronics and humans from solar events.

Difficult to navigate. There is so much clutter and activity in the screens it's very distracting. Please make it a user option to get rid of the "effects". I'd prefer a vanilla version I can easily see everything. Overall though I like what the app does and what it conveys. It's just overly distracting with the backgrounds and effects

The best way to stay alert!. This is the best app that I have found to keep me up to date about solar storms. It does have some detailed information about what it will affect and ways to plan for an event. A user can also view feeds of the sun through the different ways of measuring it. The layout does take a minute to get use to and learn. For the price you will not get better info anywhere else.

The app is lacking. Although it has some great features. Regarding the national power grid, it only monitors the status of the north east portion. It does not monitor other grid locations. I am not sure I will continue using thisapp as I live in the west.

Great app! Entertaining while educating.. From learning how to protect yourself against solar storms to an aliens-eye view of our nearby solar system included our beloved Mother Earth, the MOST Beautiful, transmitted live from the ISS! There are a lot of cool features on this app! Worth every penny and way more! Before this app I didn’t have any real awareness of what our Sun is really up too.

Used to love solar alert app.. The solar alert worked beautifully until the last apple system update a 2 weeks ago. Now the app rarely can be opened. Its very frustrating. I have become accustomed to using it daily and miss its information. Please fix this important issue. Thank you.

I love it!!!. I really like this app for my own knowledge but also for my husband. He’s a Ham radio operator and if I get any alerts, I give him a heads up and he unplugs his equipment. Also since he’s become more aware, he made some Faraday containers to put them in. It’s good practice for protecting expensive equipment

Pretty good!. The content is good and quiet informative. I like the videos and the pics of the sun and is well up to date. Only had one issue where it crashed on a refresh but only happened once and haven't had an issue since. I haven't had an alert yet so I'm not sure of the response time and accuracy. I spent $1.99 on it as it dropped in price. I'm happy with the purchase.

Crashes on launch. App crashes at every launch. How do I disable the subscription if I can't launch the app?

Lots of cool features. I just download this app but it has many premium features that you don't find on other apps, such as countdowns till the arrival of the CMEs and other cool features.

A ‘MUST HAVE’ in anyone’s toolkit!. Probably the most feature laden solar app currently out there. With spot on accuracy and a plethora of data types makes it a must have’ in everyone’s eco-system monitoring apps. Since the Sun is Life, or death, it behooves us to have a better understanding of it. This app accomplishes that in spades. The UI us great with animations, a link to related YouTube videos and many other features. I wish there was an iPad version to better use the larger screen real estate offered. Otherwise I recommend this app to all my friends. And considering another Carrington Event is more likely than ever with more frequency, and and if it were to hit us directly, would be sure to put us back into the Stone Age. This app is probably the best one out there currently that’ll help with the monitoring of such a potentially dangerous solar event, and maybe help mitigate it from a personal perspective. At least it’d give you a couple days warning to dawn faraday suits or to kiss your loved ones goodbye! Either way, if they had this app back in the 1859 lives would have been saved. In 2012 the earth nearly missed a similar one by only 9 days, but us being out of orbit caused a miss. Lucky us! So this is ‘THE’ Solar App if you want to be in the know solar-wise with a 3 day forecast and a reasonable subscription rate if you want up to the minute notifications. Works great and runs flawlessly on my iPhone 11 Pro MAX & iPad Pro running iOS 14.4!

Counter intuitive. The most counter intuitive app I've seen in years. Only way to use is to accept one month free subscription which automatically upgrades to paid one in a month, and I'm having a hard time trying to cancel it. The interface is impractical and close to impossible to read and use. Wish it becomes a great app eventually, but at present I'm giving it the worst possible rate.

More app than I need. I need a low-data app that simply informs me when solar activity will be high. This app is beautiful, but it has far more features than I require. Push notifications are frequent for relatively minor activity and the English language notifications suffer from poor grammar, which makes me question their veracity. I’m going back to the Space Weather app.

Tstn Group. Wonderful app. Observing solar activity and having warnings of incoming blasts from the sun is fantastic. Earth weather is one thing but solar weather is intriguing. After all solar weather is a major factor in the way our own Earth generates it's weather. So cool.

Cool app but the developer needs better English. Very informative app but there are numerous annoying instances of poor English use throughout the app. That alone may make me cancel my one month free trial. Ok, I'm an English teacher but, hey, why put something out there that riddled with errors?

What just happened?!?!?. I loved this app a lot, loved the warnings... It WAS great till I got the resent update... Why is it now a subscription when it was free for the past two years? Solar Alert. I do a fair amount of Aurora photography. This app is accurate, with very useful information, great for predicting Aurora arrivals. Highly recommend it to anyone interested in Aurora predictions and interested in protecting their electrical equipment.

Good app, provides timely information.... Gives you the information you are looking for regarding forecasts, etc without having to go digging for it on various sites. Not perfect but no app is. Keep up the god work with the updates.

Comprehensive and useful. Of the apps that deal with the aurora borealis, this gives you the most up to date and useful information. I recommend it for everyone who has an interest in the Northern Lights.

Wow.. This app goes about 5 layers deep. It's heavy duty. Takes a while to get the hang of it but once you do, wow. You can get most of this data and imagery from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory website, but that process is WAAAY more time consuming. This app brings everything into one place and does most of the heavy lifting for you. Awesome. UPDATE: Still a great app, very comprehensive. I find new content weekly.

Bait and bill.... Purchased only days ago because it offered free solar monitoring after purchasing the app itself. Now only days later they have chosen to offer a 'comfortable' annual subscription as soon as I update. No price quoted for subscriptions. Nope -- deleting this app. Cannot recommend this developer to honor past offer. Seems unhonest at best.

Update a big downgrade. I got this app a few days ago, and it was very promising. It had some valuable information and push alerts. Now I have to pay a subscription to get the same info I paid for the app for?? They got my $3, an now I get nothing. Worst app experience in my many years of using the App Store.

It doesn't seem to be working properly. Continues to show no cellular alerts at all. When I look at other sources such as NOAA there are seller minutes. I'm curious why nothing is showing on the app.

Great app. Found it looking for info on severe event I heard about on the radio. This app was very helpful it had more information than I ever expected to find. Very easy to use.

Reliable, good emerg. Info, fairly accurate. Considering the huge (no, not really that many) variety of solar monitoring apps available, this one is decent to above average. Would recommend it if you don't have access to SOHO or SDO all the time.

Alerts of shutting down. This app was worth the money until they decided not to want to stream in app anymore .

Crashstastic! And not terribly useful. Crashes half the time on an iPhone 5, and is very generic. Last time it told me there was an event happening in 14hrs, and I opened it 6 hours later and the timer never changed. Then it crashed, I reopened it and the timer disappeared. Not worth the $$$

Wouldn't open. I really wanted to use this app but it would never open beyond the preliminary 'WiFi is active' page. Deleted it.

Sends spam notification. Was good. Now they are sending spam notifications once or twice a day. Disturbing me with a push notification saying "nothing is happening" is as useful as telling me there isn't a tornado in my backyard. These recent spam alerts like today's spam advice about bags and such only water down the legitamency of real alerts. I'm seriously thinking of removing the app if I keep getting this BS.
