Needs some improvements. Downloading takes ages. In-text accessibility to dictionary would be very useful. Zooming-in is quick and responsive.

Great magazine. My only complaint, and why it gets 4 stars is that I would like to see more articles per quarter. I understand, however, not wanting to dilute the quality and to be accurate with sourcing and bibliographic information. I highly recommend this for anyone who values reason first and foremost.

Simply Terrible. I have subscribed to Skeptic for more than two years and love the magazine. A few months ago, I subscribed to the e-version. I got one issue to download when I first subscribed, but now I can't get the latest issue to download. The app wants me to pay for the issue or pay for a yearly subscription...again! I use materials from this magazine in the courses that I teach, so I really need to see the latest issue for which I've already paid. I have contacted Pocketmags but so far no response. Skeptic needs to fire that company and get another app provider.

App works as detailed.. The app delivers a good amount of information on the subject of Ancient Aliens. I enjoy the ability to share/email the art for others. There is no doubt that a serious discussion needs to take place. Beings, not from earth must be behind our religions. We dismiss magic & sorcery, yet......

Great Magazine. The magazine is great -- One of my very favorite. App makes my entire library available whenever and wherever I am. Just open my iPad.

Good. So far, I like this app, my only complaint is that I'm unable to hold a word and get dictionary definitions. Change that, and I LOVE it.

Great magazine. I have been reading this magazine for many years. More than any other is gets at the scientific truth behind so much nonsense disinformation in the world.

Primitive App. With so many good magazine and newspaper reader interactive apps to use as models, the Wall Street Journal being a laudable example, there is no excuse for foisting this primitive app on subscribers. What you get is nothing more than a photocopy of the print version that is not even scaled for iPad users. Web link citations are not interactive and if that is not annoying enough, there is no way to cut and paste them into a browser either. I am a big fan of Skeptic Magazine but this app is more annoying than useful.

One of my favorite magazines. I can't imagine not having access this intelligent magazine.

Fix the bugs! Love the mag otherwise.. Enough said. I had the same account creation crashing problem as the last user. Call your app designer and get it taken care of— I don't want to buy a paper copy!

Always something neat. I love Skeptic, and the lecture series at Caltech was a special treat when I could make it. The app is nice. Bookmarks and highlighting capability would be nicer.

Should be part of regular education. The education of a society should include technical knowledge of how to continue educating yourself and how not to be fooled by bad or misleading information. This magazine does just that. From articles of atheism, pseudo science, and myths to real scientific knowledge, Skeptic magazine helps me wade through the BS to arrive at reality.

Finally, FACTS. Refreshing to read sober analysis. What a gift to have science based critical analysis on a range of issues.

Simply doesn't work.... Using 1st gen iPad. Supposedly "downloaded" the issue I wanted to read but the cover art doesn't appear in the library. The delete button and read button appear but when you select "read" the screen goes black. Not ready for prime time.

OK So Far. I am a long-time hard copy Skeptic magazine subscriber. I switched to the e-version to save costs and paper. I have only read one issue so far using my iPad. I love the content of Skeptic magazine, but the electronic version is basically a PDF of the magazine. There are no formatting changes to make it easier to read on an iPad (or other tablet) and there are no special features like I am used to getting in other electronic magazines (National Geographic does a awesome job with their electronic version). According to some reviews, people have had problems with their subscriptions. I am anxious to see if I have any problems when the next issue is available.

Not so much. I downloaded the app and bought the latest issue. But I have yet to read it because everytime I press the 'download' icon, the app closes. I've followed all the advice in the FAQs and have emailed the developers. So far, nothing. If I were you I'd be very skeptical about downloading the app.

Four for content - none for App. The articles are great, I read them in my phone, tablet and computer. They address current events with a fact based approach and I like that. The app is another thing altogether. Not that great. It makes reading a bit difficult. I have to zoom in and out constantly.

Great read. The app works well on my iPad. The magazine is a great read and I look foreword to each new issue.

Great magazine; pitiful App.. I've enjoyed Skeptic for a number of years. I travel now so the digital version is much more convenient. While I've not experienced the download problems that many other reviews mention, I find the App itself very primitive. No effort has been expended to scale the content for easy viewing. There is no dictionary, search or annotation support. A PDF viewer would work better than this App.

Well written. Interesting and cerebral content. Only wish the entire catalog of back issues were available.

Bookmarks Please!. I really do like the simplicity of this app! It's designed well. It's missing one major thing: bookmarks. I would give this app 5 stars if bookmarks were an option! As it is now, I have to take screenshots before leaving the article in order to find where I left off when I return. Not exactly efficient. Thanks!!

terrible app. I subscribed to Skeptic for one year and downloaded this app The app crashes when you select download. Also app does not display my purchase it keeps asking me to subscribe. I updated to the latest version and I get the same results. I deleted the app and downloaded it again and ran the update. No luck same results. I am really disappointed and am a Skeptic about Skeptic Magazine.

Still the best magazine for skeptics. This is still the one magazine I look forward to with eager anticipation. No fluff or filler, just solid science reporting and discussion.

App won't launch.. I love the magazine and have been a subscriber for years. The app is the problem. On my iPad2 and on my old iPhone 3gs it's the same. It starts to load and then hangs up on the Skeptic start up screen. I'll change my rating once it is fixed.

Getting better, but if you want any customer service be skeptical!. Thanks to my own doing, I figured out how to finally read my content. No thanks to anyone at Skeptic Magazine or "Pocket mags". AMAZING periodical...TERRIBLE functionality! Thanks, AS

Awful- Doesn't Work.. Wish these reviews would of been here when I purchased this app.! I would have been skeptical! It simply doesn't work. Haven't been able to read my free issue or any other. Black screen, among other problems. Money back?????????

Great magazine. Always keeps me thinking and pondering. And you really can't too much pondering in your life. :-)

A skeptical resourse. In a sea of unreflective and outright nonsense, a questioning voice to consider.

I like the printed tabloid.. I have the new iPad and I have none of the issues the others have posted but the user interface is very poor. You can't highlight text, you can not copy text and their bookmarking mechanism is kludgy. Even though there isn't any font adjustments you an zoom the page at least. Three stars but just because of the value of the magazine's content.

Not for small screens. The app doesn't seem to have any way to zoom, so you just get tiny unreadable pages when viewing on an iPod or iPhone. Pretty useless for those of us without iPads (and if I want to tie my reading to a desktop machine, I might as well just get the hardcopy).

Great. Great!

No Back Issues. When they say your one year digital subscription gives you access to back issues, they neglect to mention that you most pay an additional $4.99 for each one. All that you get for your subscription is the current and next three issues. I would not have subscribed if I had recognized this.

It's not as bad as people say. Sure it has its problems, but it gets the job done. I can zoom into a page and it renders text clearly. I would prefer it if they rethought the app. But IMHO content is more preferable.

Last optic skeptic !. W. News media and late nite talk filled w. Unsupported drive, mass hysteria, skeptical inquirer ties the high road . Bringing rationale, reason, and just common sense, back to the fold of modern man! The nutrition for those still using grey matter for fuel in thinking.

Made Me Skeptical. Ok, App took 3 tries to install. One can not read previews. From reviews, you can't read except from a desktop or IMAX theater. I grabbed a copy at store today and was going to get a digital subscription....I've never been given "recurring charges" for a magazine. Buy me dinner & a movie before you do that to me Mr Skep Mag. You lost my $ fast. Know your market.

Pretty Stable, Great Content. Some very dense articles, but well-researched. The interface is pretty good. I like the ability to purchase back issues. Just wish new issues were released more frequently.

Bad. It's difficult to read. It would be better if they just posted the issues on the web. Then, at least, you could use Readability or Pocket to reflow the text. You can read it but you have to zoom, pan, and scroll a lot. Wasn't worth it. They promised one free issue of my choice, After browsing the back issues I found one I was interested in but of course couldn't get it. It was only a sample issue that was free. It's really a good thing magazines are dying off.

Excellent magazine. This is one of my favorite magazines. I look forward to each issue and usually read it cover to cover. The Skepdoc is my favorite columnist.

Critical thought.. Great thinking outside of the bubble.

Skeptic Magazine. Great articles assessing the truth or falsehood of all kinds of theories and assertions, with the truth being the only guiding light. Articles you’ll find nowhere else.

Skeptic magzine. Apparently payed 3.99 for nothing as you need to download and register for "pocketmags" after you purchase it just to download it. run away and do not buy this useless piece of crap that you cannot even use. It would have been nice to have been told this before purchase!. Zero stars as cannot use this.

This app blows.... ...I'm hoping to get a refund for the one issue I purchased, then delete this forever. Content didn't download, and even though I got a receipt for my purchase it doesn't show as purchased content in the app. What a crock of, well, you know what! Skeptic Magazine should have been a lot more skeptical about the providers of this app and the content server they selected.

Great Read!. I love the way Skeptic challenges my preconceptions. It offers a wonderful look at commonly held beliefs from an alternative perspective.

Great to have the digital version. Since I read nearly everything on my iPad or phone, the digital version of this journal makes reading the it much more accessible. I can easily read it in bed with even with the lamp turned off. I also appreciate the Reader view feature that turns an article into a single long page for scrolling. The only most important feature missing for me is a highlighter. When I read non-fiction I always want to annotate what I'm reading for later review. It's great that the app allows for copying and pasting selected text, but a highlighter is also needed.

Poor implementation. Seriously, why is there a second system you have to log on to, in order to get a subscription? A extra layer to pay for? If you want to see good implementation of an e-magazine, look at the Economist. But I will not be sending my money to a service so I can buy the mag though the Apple Store. Not sure if that is even Apple legal.

A necessary evil. It's amazing that something like this is even necessary, and it is very much so as this country seems to be devolving into the Dark Ages. How can we have grown so much in the last two thousand years and now seem to be going back to many of the values and superstitions humanity overcame. Science is being devalued, an elite 1 percent of rich people are ruling and the middle class is shrinking, and religion that had evolved more into charitable organizations are now returning to authoritarian attacks on morals and taking over politics. Skeptic Magazine is the antidote for all of that fighting the disease and blight of ignorance and providing a determined resistance to the realities of vaccination deniers, human global warming deniers, charlatans and hucksters, and so much more. I had stacks of Skeptics going back years but now with their availability with a simple App I've replaced the stacks with a subscription and back issues on an iPad. I can now take my library with me wherever I go. Evolution is a good thing. Devolution is stupid.

Can’t access digital subscription. I purchased a digital subscription a couple years ago through Apple, and it clearly shows in my list of Apple Subscriptions. Unfortunately, when I try to read the digital version on my iPad, all I get is stupid Pocket Magazine saying that I need to subscribe. What? I AM subscribed! Very annoying and if this not quickly resolved I will cancel!

Skeptic is great, the app is not. The reader mode on the Skeptic app is mediocre at best. It changes article formatting in confusing ways and has typos that are not present in the magazine. The app developer has not issued an update in over a year. Does this mean that they think the app is already perfect?

Readable. This works well enough to read on on the go without ruining your magazine. But there are no features related to text sizing or ability to copy. It's all zoom and pinch baby.

Excellent. There are gems among magazines, and this is one of them. With material for old and young like, it provides all you need to develop your critical thinking and learn new things. Highly recommended. Excellent app; never had any problems with it, both on my older iPad and on this one, an air 2.

A beacon of hope. For the six billion people who do not live in the USA the activities reported from there reflect a deeply irrational society riven by self interest dominating social responsibility. Commercial religion, anti science, murder, violence, voodoo economics, health quackery all seem to dominate. The beacons of hope are this magazine, NASA, the FSM, and many science publications

This app is too quirky. Problems downloading magazine. Doesn't work well I would buy again.

Amazing magazine. If you're not already a subscriber, sign up now for at least the trial period to check it out for yourself. Great articles that make you think about our world in a clear and critical way.

Skeptic user. Nice application. Highly recommended.

Waiting for digital Skeptic for years. Excellent magazine and it is now accessible anywhere I am in the world. It would be great to see more interactivity in the digital addition.

The cure for the modern era. I have always sought truthful, unbiased articles that tell the facts simply, wholly, and allow the reader to think critically. In today’s age of false claims, politicized facts, and skewed stories, finding sources like this are one in a million. Skeptic is that one in a million; whenever I need the unequivocal truth and an honest analysis, this is where I come.

Great functionality. Happy they've gone digital. I was having difficulty finding the magazine where I am. It looks just like a copy of the mag.

Poor app undermines good magazine. It's a good job the contents of the magazine are still good when you can get to them. The app is slow, crashy and disappointing.

Excellent. No problems or complaints. Great magazine

Not enough issues!. Love this magazine and the worst I can say about it is that the issues don't arrive quickly enough. More issues would be fantastic but if it meant dumbing it down like 24 hr news, I'll just have to be patient. I feel smarter after every issue. Thanks Skeptic Magazine.

Perfect. Works great, and half the price of paper subscription.

Should be mandatory reading for college students. This is a great magazine to put in anyone's hands. It shows you a differents points of view on many subjects and make you think

Glad I can get this on my tablet!. Was really glad to find this app.

Not formatted for iPhone. It's basically like viewing a desktop website or PDF. You have to manually zoom and pan around the page. I was expecting something built for the smaller screen. It seems like they could also add colour and other content. It's a great mag, though.

Awful. This app does not work. No option to contact publisher of magazine that is purchased. No support when product stops working. Do not purchase magazines through this app.

Love the magazine!! Hate the app!!!. I'm a big fan of the skeptics society and i enjoy their magazine very much. I used to have a paper subscription but I decided to switch to digital. Too bad the app is so poorly developed. It is ridden with bugs and unbelievably slow. I hope these issues will get resolved soon. For now i remain skeptical, but not cynical!

Finally. I have been waiting for skeptics magazine to hit the app store for the last year. I admit that the features for browsing are not optimal, however, the page quality and reading experience is fantastic. A must have for any skeptic magazine fan.

Dreadful. Obscenely slow to download magazine, unable to register via app, website was down. Will stick to Zinio.

doesn't work!. give it five stars for content and one star for access. just hangs downloading new issue (Dec?) used to have a mail sub but prefer this. no more $$$ from me until it works! update it folks.

Love My Mag!. It works fine for me.

DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!. DO NOT subscribe to “pocket mag”! Expensive frequent charges, and very difficult to unsubscribe. I was charged a fortune for my “trial”.

Thank you!. Finally intelligent human beings questioning it all!!!

Awful. It takes forever to start downloading, but once it does, it works fine

Text is fuzzy even at full page. The resolution is terrible. The text is blurry even when zoomed out completely. Really bad reading experience.

PocketMag Account required. All I wanted was to be able to read a back issue of this magazine before subscribing to a full year. The 3rd party interface used, called PocketMags, hangs at its splash screen on my iPad (4). I've followed their Help and FAQ which involves deleting the app and reinstalling. Which, of course, didn't work. So, without being able to review one issue before subscribing to year's subscription, I saved myself $11.00, while Skeptic Magazine lost the same. If you're going to sell through the iTunes newsstand, it should work there without any need for 3rd party software.

Doesn't Work. Love Skeptic magazine, but this app fails to download issues (gets the first three pages), fails to sync, doesn't work well in landscape mode, etc. Not worth the effort, and surely not the money. Back to print for me.

Great read!. I'm so glad I subscribe to Skeptic Mag. It's well worth it!

Broke. App constantly crashes upon start up.

Excellent!. Want to see popular woo debunked? Read this mag!

The app itself needs work.. Downloaded the app and was presented with the option to choose an issue to download. Tried to create an account in-app to sync issues across devices, but account setup kept failing. The Micromags web site that manages these accounts acknowledged the problem in their FAQ, and the solution is to create an account via their web site. Did this, but when I returned back to the app, my "free" issue was gone and the app didn't prompt me to select a new one. Downloaded the app on another iOS device, selected the "free" issue, and logged in. Synchronization finally worked then on both devices. Unfortunately, the app appears very buggy. After downloading my issue, the icon below the issue thumbnail showed 99%, and would not let me select the issue to read. I had to switch screens to the purchase screen and back before I could access the issue. While reading, the table of contents only populates the front cover, and then that, too, vanishes. So, there's no way to navigate without going through every page, or using the page icons at the bottom of the screen which only let you jump forward a couple pages at a time without a lot of scrolling. You can create bookmarks in the app, but there doesn't seem to be a way to delete those bookmarks. All in all, this app needs work. The content of the magazine may be great, but the app it's stuck in is simply horrible. I should have seen if it was available in another app, like Zinio, but I'd prefer something more "native" to iOS Newsstand.

Upset. Very UPSET! Very misleading! Run from this app! Nothing free about it and no way to remove from my phone because it shows up on the news stand, not as an app. The news stand app can not be deleted. RUN!

Still does not work!. Won't sync to phone!

Still Crashes. This app still crashes when I try to launch it. Fail.

All true. Every problem mentioned here is true. The mag is great so I did not want to give it a one or zero.

Terrible Resolution. I have an iPad with retina display and the resolution is bad, it looks like a scanned image of the printed page.

Unable to Open. Installed app on iPad Pro and it crashes every time I try to open it. Rebooted iPad, but problem with app persists. Sigh.

Excellent!. Timely and always interesting.

App Does not Work. I purchased a subscription yesterday after looking through the free preview. On my iPad the covers do not show and so far I have not been able to even look at the subscribed magazine. All my devices continuously loop in trying to download from the 3rd party (pocketmags). Have not had success to view my PAID subscription on either my iPad 2, iPhone 5, Mac, or my work PC. Nobody has responded to my two email inquiries. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

More stars if I could get the content I paid for. Most frustrating magazine app ever. The content might be good - I still don't know after paying for a subscription.

Can't even change the font size!. Just try reading this on an iPad mini! Definitely not ready for prime time. This is an embarrassing lapse. Try again, Skeptic. This reads more like a scan than a true ebook.

Excellent Mag. Great articles, always on top of the issues!

unstable. really hard to read, skeptical will ever work

Bad Tech, Bad Atttudes. The app is painful to read with. The content makes me mad because it is so smugly confident about its version of scientific truth

App Crashes. I'd like to subscribe but the app crashes on my iPad.
