SA Express-News Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Unbelievable. Incredible what a liberal rag this has become.

San Antonio Express-News app. The app has an abundant amount of features. However, about every 5 minutes or so it automatically “reloads the page” or “refreshes,” causing me to pause and wait. This process interrupts my enjoyment of reading the daily paper on my tablet. In addition, on my tablet the moving of the the e-version paper can be cumbersome; much less user friendly than a prior version of the app. When used on my phone, the same challenges don’t exist, but who wants to read the paper in tiny print on one’s smart phone when one also has a larger tablet available!

Terrible App. The new version of the Express-News is terrible. It constantly flips back to the page where it has to reload, again and again. The reader must constantly deal with an advertising pop-up every time a reload occurs. The pages themselves do not smoothly expand, sending you off to another page of advertisements, which again you must dismiss in order to get back to where you were. With this marked decline from the paper’s prior app, these features make this a newspaper not worth reading.

Leftist media. This news organization is very biased to the Left. Should be called The Expressive News.

Functional but poor. The app has evolved and is more stable than in the past but the content is still not equivalent to the newspaper content and some of the stories still take you out of the app to a browser version of the story. Also, the app itself has almost no viewing option settings. Dark mode? Nope. Change fonts or font sizes? Not that I can find. I like getting the local news, but how about giving us a decent viewing experience for it?

Poor service. I’ve been a subscriber for over 40 years. I recently moved and in the past three weeks since I moved, my paper has only showed up 1/2 the time. When I call in, the service reps and even the floor manager aren’t much help. I ask for credit on the days the paper doesn’t show up but I’m not sure they’re doing that . It’s very disappointing and they don’t seem to care. I guess I’ll just have to cancel my subscription and get my news elsewhere.

Terrible use of anything. The fact you are forcing your customers to this sorry designed site because you can’t get papers delivered on time if they are even delivered is undeniably wrong. If news happens later 6 PM. You won’t find it here. What dis appointment. Change your name to let’s see, “The Old News for S A”.

Subscription Increase and App doesn’t work!. Paying ridiculous monthly rate as a teacher for the app to not work! Really ????

5-star review. News articles are succinct and to the point. I’m very busy and don’t have the time to read long articles to get to the point. One can tell that the writers have an in-depth knowledge of the story they are writing. Editorial staff does their homework when writing their opinions. Very informative. Excellent reporting and excellent editorials.

Not happy. Not sure where the e-edition tab disappeared to; neither customer or tech support able to address problem. Have been a subscriber since 1996 but looks like I’ll have to cancel digital subscription; cancelled home delivery service several months ago since they decided to print in Houston which means any news/sports happening after 9pm not included

Digital paper doesn’t always work, right?. I am a subscriber to the ExpressNews. I’ve been for many years. We also read the paper online however, many times I try to open a story and get a message that I need to be a subscriber to read this article. Well, I am a subscriber. It asks me to sign in. This is very frustrating because an email was sent to me so that I could read the paper online then I’m asked to sign in to read an article. VERY FRUSTRATING.!

Disappointing app. The news fed as top stories negates national and world news and there isn’t a national tab. Also, getting to the print version is awkward. Moved here from Dallas and still pay to use their well designed app to easily get national and world coverage. The stories the Express chooses to put in their feed are limited and the old stories stay on the app too long. Please make it easier to see the print layout version

Express News App. 1. Disappointing app with lots of very old content. Does provide Link to digital replica for subscribers. 2. I really miss the old olive app for the digital replica. Very easy to use on line. Shoewed the articles better, was a joy to use (when it worked), Unfortunately it is no longer supported and you are forced to the web page version of the digital replica, that is not as good. Pls bring it back.

Worst App To Log Into. Been a long time subscriber to the ExpressNews and canceled physical paper because of poor service. Once canceled though I’d give the app a try, received offer for .99 half year subscription so I signed up. Every time I attempted to log in it kept asking for a higher price subscription. Will block Express News emails next.

The SA Express News is our news source. The San Antonio Express News is the source for the most accurate and broad news in our community and beyond. Everyday it provides new information plus a vibrant editorial page. It is the first newspaper I read every morning - online of course.

Biased News source. It’s a shame that this newspaper is blatantly anti-conservative and truly non-journalistic at its core. I am looking for a new source for fact based reporting rather than editorializing disguised as “news.”

No comment section.. Please add one.

Wish it was better. When home delivery tanked I decided to give the electronic a try, but the opening articles are mostly old news! So I tried the electronic version of “todays print version” but trying to navigate it on my tablet is close to impossible. I continue to try, but it is very frustrating. No wonder newspapers are disappearing; it is like they are giving up when they put out a poor product.

Having to sign in every time I tried to read a story made me an ex-subscriber. I’ll miss it but I won’t miss the frustration

Light on news. Heavy on old content.. No a lot of news content. And some content that is weeks old.

Review. A lot of the time it’s yesterday’s news today especially sports. Good thing the comics are current

Not good service. I cannot enter the newspaper on line nor get the digital nor the daily short stories you email me????? Frustrating!! Have called and the assistance is not helpful. I am able to access all other media sites wo problems !!!

Impossible to support. The best part is local stories, the writing is okay and the app/website is trash.

Bad link. It’s always refreshing when change page. I do not email any I would go thru email to e edition

Too Much Of the Same.. It would be much better for the news paper to have all new information.

They don’t care. Cannot access digital edition. Called numerous times and their default reply is to uninstall and reinstall app. This does not fix the issue and I agree with what others say they just don’t care.

Newspaper. Covers everything in the Newspaper and more!

Buggy, No Longer Working. The app no longer recognizes subscriptions and is basically useless. App developers don't seem to care that they're ripping off customers who are paying for access through the Apple app.

Terrible app design. The news content is fine, but the app is terrible. - No dark mode; the app is blinding when everything else is dark - None of the standard iOS gestures work — tap time to go to top; you must scroll all the way up every time — swipe from left to go back takes you to the previous story instead of where you were — tapping a heading doesn’t even take you to the most recent story if you were scrolling

Understanding via Written Word. There is research that suggests we remember the main ideas when we read about a topic on paper Vs on a screen. Indeed, I’ve noticed I develop a deeper understanding when I read on paper than listening. I like to read various viewpoints as is often the case with both professional writers & letters to the editor.

Can’t find the comics!. Good coverage of news. Easy to scroll through sections but have NOT been able to access any cartoons other than political ones (which were quite good)

My view. This papers writers and political views are so one sided it’s hard for me to read the paper now. Frustration and lack of facts in most articles leads me to throw the paper away, or not read it almost every week. I will be canceling my subscription.

Unhappy Express news reader. I am not allowed to view stories am locked out plan to cut off subscription because I get no service. I’m wasted money and the amount keeps going up. NOBODY answers the phone NOBODY cares. I bet no one will read this or care

Online DailyEdition no longer available. Why can’t we get the Daily edition online anymore? Don’t like clicking on each headline story.

Staying Logged In. I am a long time subscriber to both paper and digital versions. Previously, the app (iOS) kept me logged in when I switched from article to article and sometimes it left me logged in for an extended period of time which was great. In the past two or three days, I have had to log in each time I click on a new story. It is incredibly frustrating!! Can this please be fixed? Supposedly, a new version was released a week ago with “bug fixes and performance improvements” but that is obviously not true. Your developers need to “fix” the problem that they created.

App OK, website not so much. I subscribe to the app but can’t log on to the website. I don’t know if I need to pay extra for that, though I don’t think I should need to.

I always learn from you. Whether it’s details about our city’s development, history, culture, governance, or individual people, I always learn something worth knowing. Letters to the editor keep my finger on the pulse of the city. Thanks for the diligence of your newsroom!

Tabloid nonsense. If you’re wanting actual news, just purchase the broadsheet. The app is full of Buzzfeed-type articles about what kind of San Antonio grass tastes good with salsa.

Subscriber Annoyed by Pop-ups. Despite the fact that I am a subscriber to both the print and digital versions, i get very annoyed by the EN’s pop-up solicitations to subscribe or log-in whether i am using their app or from the email digest. I am tempted to cancel my subscription.

Too liberal. This paper is on the edge of fake news. Several of my friends have canceled it and I’m thinking about doing just that after 40 years of subscribing.

Great news. Limited sports.. Local writers make this paper and excellent source of local news in addition to covering US and world as well. Four stars instead of five because the paper closes early the night before, Limiting your news to what happens before 9 PM the day before. So the sport scores and late evening activities around the world are not reported until a day late.

Crummy. I would assume that the EN is no longer allowing readers to enjoy the news in a format that we have used for decades. Now the news is not only a day old but we cannot read it in an format that we are used to. By by EN

New Express News App. Loaded new Express News app and cannot get current news in the feed. Articles date from 3 weeks to 6 months ago. Very little current news.

Knowledge is power, especially on the local level. It is the upmost importance to understand what is going on on a local level. Without reporters who take the time to look into and question local politics, judicial decisions, and policies being passed all of these would go unchecked. It is our duty to our fellow citizens of our city to support the local reporters, their writings and inquiries

My city.. I have lived in San Antonio for over 40 years, and I enjoy staying up to date on what is happening here with this location.

Too liberal. Editorials too liberal all the time. It would be nice if just once in a while you had a conservative perspective.

Staying up to date with the world. I am able at a touch to stay in the loop

Review. When the printing function for the paper was sourced to Houston, we would assured we could get the content in a timely manner by viewing the on-line version. That promise was hollow. What we get instead on line is the Express News-Light. Yes, you can see MOST of the headline stories, but even those are often lacking more recent details. Details in the area of high school sports are particularly sparse. If you are trying to get out of the hard copy paper business, say so, announce the transition schedule, and force the writers to populate the on-line version with the same details they eventually put into the print copy. I am an old-school reader, who subscribes to the paper because I read it…all of it. I don’t like the Readers Digest version because it selectively excludes the details. To say they are the same just is not true. Glenn Taplin, San Antonio

Hard to come by . . .. I subscribe to a “morning paper” that rarely gets delivered before 2:00 PM. And, when it does get here, it is thrown in my bushes, flower bed or on the rocks in our culvert! My driveway is 18 feet wide and over 50 yards long. But, our drive-by delivery driver can’t seem to hit it. I have decided to cancel my weekday subscription and just go with Sunday deliver. 🤷‍♂️

Lousy app. Automatically disconnects customers even when you pay and subscribe. We’re dumpling it! Improve it people or go away.

No STARS for this crappy app.. No STARS to this app. It crashed immediately upon opening from iPhone and then when I tried to set up an account it rejected my print subscription number. The email that popped up after it was rejected is not even valid and when I emailed it to get my "valid" print subscription number, the email was returned as invalid! Seriously? If you call the phone number you get idiots too that don't know anything. So much for that. I think I will just unsubscribe now. Such a waste. Half the time my paper is late or not delivered and when I call to report they say it will be delivered but it never is.

Wishing it would work.. I was so excited when I found this app. I'm from San Antonio and I love the San Antonio Express News news paper. Since I no longer live there I thought reading the news paper from my iPad would be awesome. I have to say when I downloaded the App then tried to download the first issue, it's still not downloaded. I've tried to delete the App and download again but that still didn't help it. So disappointing, I do have hope that it will be fixed and I will be able to view my subscription on my iPad some day. In the mean time I will not pay for a subscription. I only give it one star until it is working. Please fix the issue, thank you.

Give Tommy Hamzik a raise. Give Tommy Hamzik a raise. Stirrrrrrr

Latest Update Not an Improvement. I am not sure the the latest version is actually an improvement over the previous one. Main complaints are: (i) why in the world with the “Main news” section have so many articles on the Spurs? All of those belong solely in the sports section. It makes no sense for users looking for latest news to have to wade thru a Main section cluttered with Spurs articles. (ii) The “Main News” section, instead of showing stories from today’s print edition, contains a lot of really old articles (the same ones I have been seeing for weeks). For example, today (Jan 21) there is still being carried in the Main News section a Jan 2 article on the first baby born in S.A. on New Year’s Day and another old article on an old Mayor - why in the world???

Review. I like the layout of the app. However, I find it is not reliable. Too many times I have to reboot my I pad to get the app to open. Not the case with other apps. Also, the advertised free Sunday paper never came...apparently a bait and switch.

Great Start. It's a good start to what could be a great app. I really like the interface between sections and the scrolling list of articles in the lower left corner (though this should be more front and center). Still, when you choose an article to read, too little of the article is displayed on the screen. When you need to go to the next page the app is clunky, almost as if it is re-opening the article rather than simply moving to the next page. The USA Today app serves as a good model, scroll down to see the rest of the article, swipe right or left to move forward or back in the section (where the next article opens smoothly, not appearing to re-launch). In general, it's good, but it could be great. I eagerly await the next update. Most great apps get great over time rather than being that way right out of the box.

Finally found the app again!. Have been subscribers to the SA Express-News for over 35 years and am really enjoying this app! I, too, though the app disappeared from my iPad after the update but "found" it where it makes sense -on the newsstand! Great to be able to look back @ stories from the past week. Also great to see more photos than make it into print.

SA Express-News. I lover reading the morning paper and I love it even more on my iPad. I only wish they would fix some basic problems that have persisted as long as I've used this app. The first page of nearly every article is obscured by the banner ad at the bottom of the page. None of the other pages are like this. I'm surprised that their sponsors haven't complained. Instead of getting the warm fuzzy for sponsoring my newspaper, I get mad at them for obscuring my article. The other big "huh" is when I tap on an article and it tells me that I can't read it unless I'm connected to the internet, yet I have a great wifi connection. I love how easy it is to share articles and email reporters. With a couple of easy fixes, this could be a fabulous app.

Step Backward. Moving to a UI consisting of large tiles makes scanning stories to decide which ones to read much more tedious. On my iPad Pro the home page Top News section displayed the complete tile for just one story. What a waste of screen space. No longer having a split view with story titles on one side and the text of the selected article on the other side also makes using the app more of a chore. There is also no visual queue which stories have been opened. Since stories appear in multiple sections it makes it a pain to quickly spot stories that have not been opened. I’d go back to the old design if I could. Please add an option for a mode to present stories in a list format w/o the picture tiles that has a visual queue to mark stories that have been opened.

One of the best apps I have..!!. The app is very stable and it mimics the written version very well. The navigation scheme is brilliant, allowing you a multitude of ways to travel thru the sections. I particularly like the fact that it keeps the most current week of copies available to you when you are connected. Do yourself a favor, get a subscription, get the app, and enjoy!

Awful. This new app needs a logo work. Previous version and layout was much better. Login is not a problem for me but I have issues with about everything else. A few of examples: the political cartoon in opinion section is from several days ago; i've read lead stories in news, food, A&E sections in previous editions; lots of other old news is interspersed with latest; can no longer look at previous comics, etc. I will no longer read the E-N online until the problems are corrected and hopefully they'll bring back the "newspaper" format. I'd give it a "0" if I could. FSM

Lefty. No late news. Way too politically left wing biased. Most “news” has political slant.

Pretty good. In general I was impressed. It's easy to get around the paper and comes in crystal clear with retina display. Not sure why some folk don't get Sunday edition, but I do. The only problem I have is I am not able to use any of the 5 device limit. It just won't let me do it. Calling customer support was fruitless but I am not giving up....yet. My wife wants it too and so far only able to get her the free 14 day. I should be able to log in to her iPad and get the subscription as I am already a newspaper subscriber.

Good Way To Read The Paper. The best thing about this app is not having to find the newspaper under the car in the morning, or soaking wet in the yard while the sprinklers are running! The app is a little clunky when it comes to reading stories more than one page. I do like the up-to-the-minute coverage on hot stories, and the extended photos you don't get in print version.

Reliable app that makes reading the paper easy. Enjoy reading the express news on the ipad. Works well, rarely has any technical issues. Lots of photos available in the online version. Paper is much more convenient than the paper version.

Nothing "express" about SA express news. Worst app I have used. It takes forever to open. I often have to close it and reopen for stories to open. It does not occur with any other newspaper app I have. The only thing worse than this app is Express newspaper delivery team. I had to drop paper delivery after 35 years because it was only being delivered 3 out of every 7 days. SA express needs to get a new team.

No details, just headlines and major stories. This app is below average. For some reason the paper has made the decision to not include everything in print in the digital edition. For example, the statistics page in the back of the sports print section does not appear. Box scores from games are missing. Almost all of the business section financial data is missing from the app. As basic as it sounds, I wish I could simply have access to a pdf or similar format of the print edition.

Crap. Until they fix this app where it works after you pay for it I advise everyone not to subscribe to it. This is typical of the Express News when they have a good idea they can't follow through. I would fire the electronic media staff and hire some high school kids they could make it work.

Missing items. The app is easy to use, but there are things it does not have that I would like to be able to access on my iPad. For example Heloise and on Saturday the Click and Clack column. One person mentioned being able to print coupons. That would be a nice feature but I would rather be able to print recipes from the taste section.

Great app!. I have really enjoyed this app and stopped getting the paper version. I think the navigation is as good as New York Times or WSJ, if not better. It is especially nice to be able to view multiple photos instead of just one or two in the paper. I never thought I would give up the paper newspaper, but I'm sold. And no more ink on my hands when reading the paper!

Like it so far. UPDATED: Hey guys the app is now in the Newsstand Icon. Been waiting for the Express News on iPad for some time now. Love that you can download and go for offline reading. I hope ads are removed when I move to a paid subscription.

Where’s Dark Mode??. NEED DARK MODE

Good luck being at being able to create a login. Had this working at one point, but now again unable to use. Their support page - which oddly is not optimized for and iPad, is nothing but an FAQ, no direct support. Only form link is a feedback form, which as the resulting email tells you, is not monitored, but your feedback will eventually be sent to the appropriate department. When it did work, it had an interesting but sometimes confusing navigation. Stories were added daily, but if you are really looking for new news, setup feeds from or just check the local TV news sites periodically during the day. This like the paper itself is a snapshot of what had happened - old news.

They must be using Macs. A bit visually cluttered and late to the game the SA Express News is zippy and easy to navigate. I like the newspaper "sections" page flip to get from section to section. They must be using Macs. Now if they would hire back all the writers and photographers they fired when they were just a print paper and do the fine reporting they did as well, it could be "great" app. If your looking for national news stick with the NY Times, since that is what they are pulling from.

Terrible. As an online only subscriber this app is terrible and makes the subscription useless. Continuously takes to you the subscription manager where you can successfully login only to be redirected back to the article for one second then redirected back to the subscription manager. The only parts of the app that works are the headline browser pages. Then, to top things off, when you submit a support request from the app the mail is rejected by the mail server because the support email address is unknown. Just terrible. I regret that I bought my subscription. I would give the app negative stars if I could. They should pay me to be the software tester. I'm paying for something that I'm not getting and then finding the problems with their stuff for free as a bonus. I won't renew unless this thing gets a lot better. Terrible. Simply terrible.

Fix this thing! (Update*). *What happened to the app reset feature? Before, if the app froze, you could go back into settings and use the reset to fix it....it's gone! Please return it! Since the latest update, the first article you tap will start loading and take forever and often just gets stuck. Can't read it if it won't open!* I'd give it zero stars if I could. The old app worked well, and the new one, while I preferred the old version, would at least open before this last update. And even though I AM a paid subscriber to the app, it denies access to extra content like recipes. I've emailed and they just don't seem interested in addressing that issue. I don't want a paper delivered...this should be a full-featured alternative or state that you're not getting access. If they can't get it together, I won't renew.

Just okay. I do like being able to read my local paper when traveling. But I have several gripes. As a paid print subscriber, I DO NOT want to see pop up ads. There are enough ads in the paper. Other paid apps exclude the ads as a benefit of paying. I want to see all the comics that are in the daily paper, not just "somebody else's" select few. And the search is horrible. It takes way too long, frequently doesn't work, and rarely finds what I'm looking for. It seems this is especially true when trying to find an "advertised" blog. And I'd like the ability to of looking back further than 6 days.

NFL football. NFL football I didn’t see anything

Delivery issued. Missed 4 days week before, and back to back days Feb 6/7. Not reliable service 😩😡

Bother. Why do I have to re-register every time I renew the app?

Did not receive issues.. I paid for an auto renewing subscription but the site kept telling me my subscription had expired. So, after a couple of months I had to cancel the auto renew. Shame, I had wanted to read the paper.

Bad App and Update Went backward. The digital version is impossible to read. The page is so overloaded with advertising that it’s not worth navigating. I cancelled the last version because of constant technical problems. I kept this version for about 40 minutes and deleted it. I’ll block future charges on my credit card rather than fight for a cancellation.

Love the Express News. After living in SA for over 40 years we recently moved to McKinney. We really missed all the features we had always looked forward to. Now we read them daily on our iPad. How great. However we would really like more comics.

Half-Baked App w/Screwed Up Icon. When I installed this app, I could only access it through the iPad's search menu because the icon was nowhere to be found. After shutting off and restarting the iPad it appeared, but much larger than all the other icons and completely off-center. Please tell me that the paid version doesn't have that large banner ad at the bottom of every page, or the surprise full-page popup ads. Both are very annoying. The "Change Section" carousel and the "Comics" section are well done but I don't see myself subscribing anytime in the near future. In fact, I'm going to forgo the free trial and delete the app so I don't have to look at that nasty icon anymore.

San Antonio Express News iPad App. A tad blurry until clicking into individual article. Current issue is always off screen to the right. Please reverse the order so that the current issue is first on left. I still like paper better but this is great when the deliverer is later than my wake up.

Pretty Good. I haven't had any issues with the Express-News app. It worked the very first time, it gives me access to many of the stories in the paper, and it even has comics. It would be better if it had ALL the stories from the paper (if they're all there, I can't find a bunch of 'em), ALL of the comics from the paper (it only has a few comics, and not all of them are the same as in the print edition - more comics is something I think the print edition needs anyway), and it could have easier random access to sections (the Coverflow-like option is nice, but a quick way to get from the first section to, say Sports, without going through the other sections) would be very handy.

It just stinks. Still get message that I must connect to the Internet when I am connected on some articles. Aggravating to say the least. I have been getting the same picture on the second page for months. Randomly it asks me to login. I can't think of a worse app on my iPad. I would give it 0 stars if possibles. Update: Nothing fixed in months. Update: Can't tell if their new app they have been hyping for weeks works. I tried to use it and it ask me to login. I tried using the password that I know is correct with no luck. Tried link to reset and never received an email with a password rest. No a good preview so far. Update: app crashes before it loads. What a bunch of garbage.

Updated format. No such thing as being able to see what is happening NOW. If you go to “top news” one sees a few local news items then an ungodly number of sports, food, etc. NO national news whatsoever. A second grader could have come up with a better format. Obits are at least 2 days behind. That’s up to date for sure! These issues are on my iPhone and iPad. Sorry but I don’t walk around with a laptop in my back pocket. The sight is total rubbish.

Unresponsive, repetitive content poor performance. Save your money. If you're expecting the same content as the printed newspaper subscription, it's not there. Most often the same content is repeated for days. Most often, the app is unresponsive with articles simply refusing to load for extended periods- most often I can completely finish a complete breakfast without one single article loading. Not an issue with my wireless as everything else is fast. Jus t not THIS app. Seems to get better later in the day. If you're looking for news content, there are many other options available, even free ones that's not repetitive and slow to load. With the decline in local print news, you would think an online offering would be robust, up to date and responsive. Not the case on any point with this app.

Great news app. I love the app. It's a perfect digital copy of the paper, plus a lot more. I used to subscribe to The Daily (RIP) and this one I think is in many ways better. Sometimes it crashes and I hate the CPS ad but I love the slideshows and Spurs section. I like that it has comics and sudoku yet still nation and world sections. Plus you can download an offline copy which is awesome if you're on a plane or space shuttle (do you think astronauts have wifi in space?) So yeah. Get the app (and a subscription!)

Very Nice, but not all there. App is very good overall. However, it doesn't contain the whole paper. No automotive section, and some sections are only partially there, etc. Even though you select max download, you still only get about 1/2 of the newspaper. So, it's good for a quick review, but if you are traveling or want to see everything, it's not there.

This app is HOPELESS. I don't even try using this any more. Splash screen says "it's a new day, loading front page", but it reloads whatever the last successful update was ( which is several weeks old in my case). A pathetic excuse for a news app. June 15, 2017 app update:. More of the same. I launch the app, it "updates" to today. Unfortunately I'm staring at probably six week old news. Game 1 of the Spurs-Rockets playoff series is the headline. June 17, 2017: Looks like it may finally be fixed, the app has updated to the current news two days in a row. Yay!! July 9, 2017: Back to its old tricks, says it's updating yet the news is over a week old. I give up, I'm uninstalling it.

Works well. I am using the new iPad retina display. The app works well , I can read all the articles using the usual tap and swipe. Their magnify is o.k. I do not live in S.A. So don't know which sections besides the ads are missing but seems complete. No problems loading or using.

SA Express new app. I just used the new version of the app. It loaded quickly and I was able to navigate without using the tutorial. I did check the tutorial after going through the sections. I did not find "Believe it or not" which has been a problem with all versions of the app. The fact that I didn't have to wait for an edition selection to load is a great improvement. At first look, I am impressed.

Gave it 1 Star..... In September I gave a very negative review because of constant freezes and crashes. See below. It has since gotten better at least for me. I still find it somewhat difficult to navigate. I also the Wall Street Journal digitally and find it much easier to use. So I pushed it up to 3 stars from only 1. Gave it one star because you cannot give anything lower. It crashes and freezes repeatedly. And, let's face it, it is not a great newspaper to begin with.

Is this Texas or California?. Liberal bias permeates your “news”....no surprise really.

Will Eat 3G Plan in 1 Night. Last night I accidentally left my 3G turned on and awoke to a drained 3G account. I almost always turn it off at night but right before going to bed I checked my 3G data usage by going to Settings/Cell Data/View Account. When you do that it turns on 3G. I didn't know that. My usage was 97 of 250mb used. When the iPad goes to sleep it turns the wifi off to save battery. Because i left my 3G on, this app was able to download the morning paper while the wifi slept. I received an email at 5 AM from AT&T telling me I was down to 20% remaining. At 10 AM it was all gone. Fortunately my 3G plan wasn't set to renew automatically. This app needs the option to "download via wifi only". With that maybe I would reinstall. But leaving 3G on at night is just too easy of a mistake to make.

Bring back the EN app. The digital edition of the San Antonio Express-News is now difficult to read because of the ads which cause the actual digital version of the paper to be too small to easily read. The previous EN app presented the paper full screen and it was much easier to read. The EN app is no longer supported. We pay for the digital edition of the paper, the paper contains it’s own ads, so why did you shrink the text and add more ads? Bad decision by Hearst Communications!

Good needs a few tweaks.. If you try to read some articles the advertising banners coverup the lower paragraphs making it impossible to read this portion of the article. An article will sometimes give a link but it does not provide the reader with a hot link nor does it allow the reader to copy the link and manually paste the link into ones web browser. The game section is slow in responding to touch and sometimes you must touch an area six or more times before it will respond or go to a different zone enter some item that you know is wrong and then return to the zone you want before it will accept you response.

One major flaw. This app works very well with one major flaw. Right in the middle of reading a sentence in an article it forces a page change into an unwanted advertisement. This is a rude interruption and in order not to lose your train of thought, you immediately close the ad. But I'm sure they get credit for every millisecond view of their unwanted ads. They should show ads between articles or sections instead. Or not show them at all. Wall Street Journal doesn't have that problem.
