Need to offer yearly account payment please!!!. I have been a MagicJack customer since it came Pitt many years ago. I encourage a lot of people in the states and abroad to get the little jack. I personally purchase 5 jacks at one time. The one for my house was paid in full for 7-10 years. So I never have a monthly payment! I just found the App now “MagicAPP” yes I immediately downloaded because I remembered old days using MagicJack when smartphone was not even a thing ha! Anyway, I just set up my MagicAPP acc on my smartphone, and I rated it 5 star already. But there is one thing I really need, I really want to be able to it off per year not per month! So please give people that options to pay for 1, 2,3,4, even 5 years in advance like it used to be with MagicJack once you purchase the little jack. I will keep checking back for the update on that, if it’s not possible then I will have to delete the App as I don’t want to pay monthly, it’s not good for me. Thank you!

You get what you pay for. I've use the magicJack service for over 10 years, and that used to be good with that USB device on my computer, but this app is horrible, constantly crashes whenever I use a Bluetooth device with it, and the connection is usually horrible. I've had to call customer service a couple of times and they tried to talk me into buying a new USB magic jack and told me it would fix my problem with the iPhone app, a total lie, luckily I was at least able to get my money back. The yearly service is cheap and it works but it's about what you'd expect for $10 a year. I would leave at least three stars if they would've updated the app at least once in the last year, but sadly they haven't, and their servers are total crap too.

Was great now incompatible iPhones. One min my service was working just as it had for almost a year and hour later won't connect. Tried restarting phone deleting and re downloading the app rebooting cable modem wifi router .. still won't connect and phone is working fine in every other way. Contacted online support they made me redo what I already did and gave me a email address to contact for help. They told me my app was adjusted and should work now ... it did not.. so they made me do the above over again .. still didn't work.. and made me check my internet speed registers above average even with someone watching Netflix while I was doing so... now no answers... I paid for this service for 2 years and now I can't use it. This was iPhone 5C no software updates were made to it recently Even tried a network and system reset . No luck

Calling rates not competitive. Very useful App when it comes to having a second number on your cellphone. Calls, texts, messages work flawlessly. When it comes to international calls, it is a different story. At least for the country I call almost exclusively. The rates for this country in this App are consistently 10 c/minute more expensive over the competition. More troubling is the fact that rates are given for providers that have been out of business over-there for more than 5 years ago. Which leads me to wonder when was the last time Support has tried an informed upgrade of rates based on current business environnement. So, for now, the competition is getting all my business and recommendations on the international calls part of it‼️

Awesome!. I have been a magic Jack customer for over 12 yrs and it’s been great! I still use the old ones that plug into my computer and it’s still working great! The price has saved me a lot of money ,while using the internet that I pay for anyways, and that’s been really important as I live on limited income. The call quality can’t be beat. The feature of email voicemail notifications means that I don’t miss a call when the power goes out, which is something spectrum phone doesn’t have. The magic app is cool too and works great on the iPhone my kids got me, for emergencies when traveling. I just renewed for another 3yrs! I wish I could have renewed for my normal 5yrs!

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I’ve had this app for 2 1/2 yrs and until a couple months ago it was great. I had no problem making calls to my family in the states. But I was slow to update my IPhone 6. As soon as I did I’ve had issues trying to call my dad in the hospital. When you live overseas and only have a cell phone calling the states is extremely pricey. Older family members that don’t have the latest technology still believe in being able to pickup the phone and call you. Every time I try calling the call either starts going in and out so they can’t hear me or the app just goes offline. I’m not able to listen to my voicemails and incoming calls I cannot answer. I could understand if this was free still them not wanting to update it, but when you are paying for it, there’s no reason not to keep the service updated. Now I’m being told that I need to purchase something for in my house to make it work...not worth the time. Use to be great....but now this app is a joke.

App works OK, but support is a problem. I ported a phone number to my MagicJack account and attached it to my MagicJack device. I'd been told by one their "Live Assistance" that once the number was successfully ported, I had to contact Support again to have the number assigned to the MagicApp on my iPhone. When I contacted Support after the successful port (which only took about 12 hours), I was told it wasn't possible to use a ported number in the MagicApp. That was a problem because I couldn't port the number back to my previous carrier for a month. So I asked to be transferred to a higher level support person. It turns out that it is indeed possible to use a ported number. The higher level tech person successfully transfered my ported number into my iPhone's MagicApp. So far, after a week or so of using the MagicApp, it seems to work OK. The only minor issue I've run into is that for some reason the touch screen within the app isn't as responsive as other apps. It doesn't appear that the first level support responders are properly trained. It also takes a long time to conduct a Live Support session. The response times after submitting a message can sometimes take minutes.

The voicemails that... aren’t. The magicJack platform as a whole (not just the app) treats a missed call with five to 10 seconds of silence or negligible audio content to still be a “voicemail” that’s somehow worth recording, saving, e-mailing and memorializing in perpetuity. More often than not, these non-message messages originate from robocallers to begin with. In these cases, logging the missed call is beyond sufficient. Who needs to be pelted with email notifications about short, silent voicemails, or be hassled with the extra step of manually deleting each of these empty non-voicemail voicemails? It’s just another of those small, across-the-board annoyances that speaks to the sophistication, maturity and proportion of customer revenue funneled back into R&D of the magicJack platform as a whole year in-year out, or lack thereof.

No Brainer. Look, this is a no brainer. MagicApp has a user friendly interface. It could even be called attractive. You can text message/receive texts and call/receive calls, from non-app users. The ring is loud and easy to hear. The integration with your existing contacts is easy. The creation of new contacts is easy. The call quality is excellent. I've tried skype, talkatone, Rebtel, wechat, google voice, Google hangout, etc, and this blows them all away. The price is even decent! My only complaint is that I can't text pictures, but after seeing in comparison how crappy all the other apps are at allowing me to use my iPad pro as a phone, I'm giving MagicApp 5 stars. I use a plantronics voyager wireless single ear headset in combination with my cellular IPad Pro and this app, with no problems.

Meh. They need to fix some things. It works and has all the basics you need. You can send and receive calls and texts. (Video and photo texts are NOT supported by this service. My biggest complaint is readability. Light blue letters on a white background are hard to see. Not everyone has 20 year old eyes. Over a year ago I asked them to at least allow you to choose a theme or color scheme - nothing has been done. It’s also a little buggy in text messaging. You send a text, but it doesn’t always show up in the conversation. Exit the conversation and you will see it did indeed send.

Needs a lot of improvement. I use this app for business matters since I can’t be at the office at all times to take the calls. Most of the times when I get a call the app shuts down hanging up the call, which affect the quality of my business and callers think sometimes I’m being rude. I paid for a service I can barely use, the customer service is very hard to reach and updates have to be done manually, no notifications or whatsoever are given to me so when I know there is an update needed I have to found out myself(this is for the computer app). For what I pay I should be able to carry my business phone number with me anywhere with the app. I shouldn’t need to delete and reinstall the app almost always to be able to call without the app shutting down.

Great app. This has to be the best app in the market! Let's start that no matter how slow you connection can be it will connect it doesn't take much and it's hand down the simplest! For starters I used this app 3 years back to my vacation back to Mexico I had sprint so The app was well needed this past two years I change to Verizon so I didn't have the need it and just this month i changed to AT&T That said they got disconnected and had this app in mind and until today it's still running smooth it's perfect and anyone in need of making calls needs to get this app

App stopped working. I have used MagicJack for over 10 years. I have used this app for nearly 9 years off and on. It tends to glitch when you are signed out and try to sign back in. The sign-in button works when it wants to, so I usually try to keep my account signed-in to avoid this. However, I recently got a new phone. So guess what?? My account is signed out. I cannot get it to work. It isn’t loading, there is no error, it just doesn’t recognize me pressing the sign-in button. I haven’t a clue how to fix this, because I also cannot delete the app and re-download it. So please, what do I do now? No troubleshooting or help option either, unless you are … you guessed it: signed-in. Not happy about this at all.

So Frustrating!. I am very unhappy with this App. I have had a Magic Jack # for my business for 6 years. That # is forwarded to my Cell phone. It has worked fine for the whole time until I renewed my service this year and was told by their customer service to use the App on my smart phone instead. Now my customers tell me they don’t hear the phone ring. It won’t go to voicemail if I’m already on another call. And when a call comes in, most of the time my phone won’t ring, it only vibrates. If I’m across the room I don’t hear it. I’ve chatted with 3 diff customer service reps and got 3 different “solutions” but none of them have solved the problems. If there was another way to get my business number to ring on my cell, I’d be doing it. Cannot recommend this App at all!!!

Latest updates improved but...... I'm had Magic Jack for 4 years and I use it because I'm normally overseas. I have it hooked up at my home in Istanbul. I use the app on my IPhone 6s. On wireless it's very good for making calls. Often you miss calls and also miss getting texts that friends insist they sent. My biggest beef is that the text font, color and size are too small and too light to see in most settings. I can barely read the soft grey and blue of the text messages. There should be options to enlarge the text and adjust the color or "bold" the text. Please make this change. Then you'll get 5 stars from me.

5.0.1 app update made the whole system useless!. Not working The app is still not working except for when in Wifi. I had the cable/internet company come out and reconfigure my Internet because that was what Mahmoud Jack said it had to be even though it was fine before the upgrade. I have called numerous times, I have written and get no response or check your internet. My iPhone will let me know, occasionally, that I have a missed magic Jack call or text but it doesn’t show up in the magic jack app so I can’t respond or call from that number. That being said i have fed the number to another line until I figure out what if anything will be done. This was a great system before and now they don’t seem to even care it doesn’t work. 1 Star only because you have to put something.

Terrible App and Worse Support. I have been using magic jack on my Mac Pro since it was released and the magicApp on my iPhone. Both used to work great, but not now. I just renewed my service and the app does not let me log on despite deleting/reinstalling and resetting my password. There is no tech support by phone only chat but the chat app requires that one respond to a query by using the ENTER key which Mac keyboards lack- the RETURN key is not recognized- and then it terminates the session. I have tried to launch the dialing program on my my Mac Pro and it appears to try and re-download the program but then gives an Installation error message and tells me to contact tech support, which is not possible. I will call AmEx and cancel all the charges and terminate my service. I suggest people look elsewhere for VOIP service. The owners-Ymax- have given up on providing any reasonable support.

App is broken. The latest update rendered the app unusable. I’ve been relying on this for 5 years to call from outside the US and now with this update that functionality is gone. Multiple chat sessions with support yield nothing. All they can do is run me through the usual troubleshooting, and they are not informed as to what the developers are doing (if anything) to fix the problem. Why doesn’t MagicJack keep their support staff updates with progress reports from the developers? Even on my second or third chat session, I asked for an update on the supposed fix and all the support people could do was run through their scripted “troubleshooting.” Most of my contacts in the states have WhatsApp or FaceTime. There’s FB Messenger and plenty of other methods to call friends and family, but if you need to reach a bank or a business you need an international plan, and for me MagicJack has been my plan. Maybe it’s time to reconsider.

Satisfied Customer. I’m from Mississippi and moved to the Philipines to live . I live in the province which is an isolated rural village and I can’t get a phone call out on my Philipine phone number even with Wi-Fi . With having to call my bank and friends without a chat app I needed an alternative solution. Magic App is that solution with Wi-Fi I can call and text to the USA with a clear signal . It truely is a blessing for me and it’s also very cheap . Definitely give it five stars for price , dependability, and a pice of mind . Thank you Magic App for this service I couldn’t do without it ❤️🇵🇭❤️🇺🇸

The same Old problems. I have read the recent reviews and the ones from 1-2 years ago. It is not surprising that I am experiencing the same problems today. I have not been able to make phone calls to the states for 4 weeks. Staring yesterday, the App will not even open for me. After speaking and chatting with customer service for the last hour, I was told that the App for the IPhone will not be updated for another week. This is appalling. I live in Japan and my mom in a nursing home in the states. My magic Jack phone number is the simplest way for her to contact me. I am soooooooo mad I don’t know what to do. And to add insult to injury..... I have a 5 year agreement with them. Get it together MAGIC JACK, you are adversely impacting your customer’s life. This is not a game!!!!! And, can you put some urgency and care with getting the problems fixed......2 years is simply unreasonable!!!!!!!!!’nn

Useful app. It isn’t perfect, and it’s not all MJ’s fault (The Internet has its own challenges, you know!). Biggest positive is not needing an expensive business phone line to take calls for my low-volume non profit. Also great that voice mail is sent by email. Biggest negatives: almost impossible to answer calls when phone is locked. Takes so long to get to app that I miss the call every time. Also no way to reset voice mail badge count without calling in and manually deleting messages, and hard to reset missed call badge counts without clicking around a lot. Not very intuitive in that regard. Also agree with others that ringtone options would be nice.

Do NOT Download! Hot Mess!😡. Used for years on and off in Asia. Moved to Europe and realized they’ve been double billing me. I stopped the double billing by cancelling one of the bill subscriptions and lo and behold! They stopped the entire service—even though they charged me for a full subscription. I contacted them via email because I cannot phone them (the app doesn’t work and I will NOT phone long distance from Europe). Not once did I wrote them, not twice, three, four or five times—but SEVEN times I’ve crafted a letter to them, updating them on the issue and on which number letter I’m on. They replied ONCE, asking me for information, to which I responded within an hour of their seemingly automated response... I e not heard from them sense. The last date on which I was able to use the app was the 30th August 2019. Today is the 15th of November and I have not been able to phone the States in 2.5 months. This is horrible and any good they did for me in the past has been totally and utterly erased. I would recommend them to the devil himself. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. This is a HORRIBLE company, with HORRIBLE customer service and HORRIBLE business practice. I’m now in the process of trying to get Apple to pull the app. I’m willing to pay for small claims court just for my $9.99. These crooks need to have their feet held to the flames. Do NOT get this app! You will REGRET it!

No sign-in possible. I have been using the app since 2019. I purchased a subscription through the app on the App store, went through the steps and got a phone number which continued to be helpful especially while traveling. I have just bought a new iPhone and and after moving everything over, Magicapp asked me to “Sign-in”. I realized that I was never asked to creat log-in credentials to begin with, so I clicked on “forgot password” but my icloud accounts were all rejected for not having an account using them, so I moved on to my gmail account which was also rejected. I called Magic Jack’s 800 phone number but it is IMPOSSIBLE to speak with anyone. After looking online for a solution, I found a phone number for billing, so I called and made my way trough to a call center in Vietnam, they had no clue what was going on and told me there is was account for me, and since I subscribed through Apple, then it is Apple’s problem. I called Apple support who were as confused as I am because there isn’t even an account number or ID, there is no account profile on the app or any account info whatsoever. The app still tells me that I have a subscription through the app store and I should sign in using that “account” but no one knows what this account it. I am still paying monthly subscription for a service I cannot use and I need the phone number because I am traveling and I rely on that number since so many people have it as my only contact number. This is insane.

Love the service; not the app. Since the updated app has come along, my love for MJ has dropped faster than some of my calls. I understand the quality of my calls depends on my internet speed, and since I get very slow speeds, calls are not always great but that’s ok. Sadly, the updated app has made things worse for me. Now the app interrupts anything I’m doing on my phone and doesn’t let me dismiss the call. Sometimes it shows a “decline” button, (sometimes not), but what I really want is to keep using my phone and dismiss the MJ screen all together. It also constantly makes me log in again, it switched buttons around and still doesn’t show caller ID. And it does a super annoying thing: I get a text, I’m in the middle of answering it, same person texts another thing before I finish typing and when the new text comes thru, it erases all MY text I had just done!!! Makes me so frustrated that people will text one liners and as I’m trying to finish, my words get erased to let another, one-liner, text in. These things didn’t happen with the old app, so I hope a new update is coming ASAP, and I will return to my 5 star review.

Yeah! Give 'em a good feedback without any experience.. It's funny some of the feedback I read. People that download the app, use it for a couple of days and wham! 5 stars and excellent review. That is until you need support, need some question answered and no magic jack employee to give you a hand. I've had the app for some 5 years now, or so, the list of complaint was immense, the freebie has now turn into a trial,yeah! Good luck using it for free now. Why I had this app for so long, you asked? Because I hardly use it, I have an iPad wifi, so I have to use it at home. The few time that I used it, only half of the time worked. That is the reason I hardly use it. Since I don't use it that much I thought I would close my account, bop, no can't do! See, they don't even have a tuto about how to close your account, and if you are a paying customer, you are better off changing credit card or bank account number. Since I don't have a bill with them, I'll just uninstall the app and forget about it.

Pretty much rubbish. App crashes constantly. If I tap the Voicemail key, it can’t even dial, just closes the app. If I dial my number directly it does (usually) make the call into voicemails but crashes again if I choose any option other than to delete the message. Oh and it takes the message with it as it crashes. And, finally, I usually can’t answer incoming calls. On the plus side, the app has integrated nicely with my iPhone contacts so it displays the identity of the caller if it’s someone I know, even if I can’t answer the call. The only other plus is that with rare exceptions if the caller isn’t in my contact list it’s a scam, so I can ignore those calls with confidence. Unidentified calls that come directly to my cell phone are likely to be from vendors I’m working with.

Simple and dependable. It’s a product that does what it says it’s suppose to do. No fancy controls. Just a simple VOIP telephone format that almost always works as long as you have a dependable internet or cellphone connection. Uses your phones default controls to except and answer calls, works with Bluetooth user tested, user approved. Good for multitaskers who need to make calls while taking care of internet business at the same time. A subscription to this service is well worth it. I highly recommend it. I’ll take this over Skype any day.

Needs Work. Ive used this app internationally since 2013 and will say it is hands down the best overall voip phone app. The problem I have is when you get dependent on it and the service quits for whatever reason you’re left high and dry. For example I’ve passed out dozens of resumes that include my number on it, but no one can call me because right now the service won’t connect. Luckily I found the glitch and a workaround. I use the iphone 7, running iOS 11.3. When I open magicJack at the bottom right hand corner where the three dots are (or more options) , it will light up with ‘offline’ briefly, then disappear. Once you tapped the three dots it takes me in to the additional option screen where I see the status “connecting”, but it never changes to “ready to call”. In order to make it work I have to switch my data off of LTE and use 3G only. It will also work on wifi if you turn off LTE.

Very very poor support. Trying to talk to support is the worse experience ever ... My app is paid for and it stopped working, cant call support because magic jack only allows chat. And chat is the worse because they don't seem to try to understand all they are concerned is what they see not listening to what you're saying and proving. This is the worst customer service ever. Zero stars deserved for the poor customer service. It is now April 26th 2017, total waste of time again, my app auto renewed & is not working talking to support they are saying they sent out an email stating the app will no longer be working unless I purchase a magic jack, i never got that email but magic jack took my money & renewed the magic jack app service. If its not going to be working, why take my money. I will no longer be a magic jack customer.

Very frustrating. RickC This app is has basic functionality, but it’s limitations and bugs under iOS 13 on the iPhone XR are beyond frustrating. When one opens the app, it takes a good while to load your iPhone Contacts, especially if you have a large number of then. When you lookup a Contact and open the details, then return to the list, you cannot clear the search text box or this I any longer because it has been moved partially off-screen at the top where iOS is displaying the time, status of LTE and WiFi connections and the battery level. When calling someone, it takes a few seconds after I speak before the recipient can hear me. Likewise when I answer a call. While I appreciate the value of MagicJack, the MagicApp is a huge disappointment and it hasn’t been updated in 11 months...

Love it...when it works. I’ve been using this app for years now. Ever since I joined the military and was stationed overseas, it has been amazing being able to call back to states for any reason from speaking with family or speaking with your bank. However, I’m currently having issues with the app. My keyboard doesn’t always seem to work no matter how strong the signal is. This led me to uninstall the app, and reinstall in attempts to reset everything. Well now I can’t even log into the app at all. I’ll type in my login info, click the “tap button below to start making phone calls” and get stuck at a blank blue screen. I hope they have an update soon to fix these issues.

Prove to be lam extremely unreliable and no customer service. Please read before you start using this service. I had experiences using magicJack long time ago when the company was little known by many about 15 years ago. Fast forward, I stop using it for many years as I simply had no need until recently. I started downloading the app and thought it would be great to me as it used to be. Dead wrong!, my phone number was disable abruptly with no explanation but small notes to contact customer service. 1) it was almost impossible to contact customer service. 2) I must look them up on Facebook and chat with them thru there. They simple told me “the service was disable for violating section 6! I read the descriptions and I did none of them. I told them to give me specific example . They read and never response. Here is my advices for you. Please don’t use the app if you do . Be aware your business may be disrupted at their will. Basically, you paid them and they have all rights to stop you at anytime with no explaining.

Needs to be updated. Update: so, I'm unable to dial out now. When I press the green button to dial out, it clears the field where the number was an nothing happens. Also, when I try to receive a call, it hangs up after one ring. My original problem from two years ago still hasn't been fixed and in fact I'm actually using a google voice number now instead of the non working magic jack one. So, people try to call me on the google one and it routes it to here... however it only rings once if at all. Lately it just goes to voicemail which was the original problem two years ago. Mostly annoyed that I can't call out right now and I've been in love chat hold for 30 minutes now. The last update available for this app was back in January. Almost all year it hasn't worked for me when receiving calls. I'm able to make calls but not receive them. Waste. I've been using FREE Googlevoice since this doesn't work anymore. It's now 2017 and the problem hasn't been fixed.

Dear developers. I’ve been a magicJack customer since 2008. I strongly encourage magic app developers to add support for Siri on IOS. This app is way behind the times when it comes to texting and responding to Siri requests it only says… “Sorry, magicApp hasn't added support for that with Siri.” Another huge problem for international users is the receiving a verification codes while traveling abroad, this is hugely important that this be fixed. I continue to pay for two lines because I believe in your product, hopefully you will advance in your updates with modern technologies, such as adding photos to text, etc. Thanks & Blessings!

Really isn’t worth it anymore. For the past couple of months, this app has been so glitchy. I paid for the yearly subscription service might I add. I have used this service for about 3 years and I can’t really use it anymore because of how much it crashes and how bad the connection is sometimes. What prompted me to finally write a review was that I was on hold with a company for almost 30 minutes when all the sudden, the app cut my call. Infuriating. This happens A LOT. This is the only way for me to make important contacts in the states. It disconnects frequently. When I have an incoming call and unlock my phone to answer the call, it won’t let me answer. Many calls that come in have poor quality and some people have told me that my number doesn’t even work when they try to call me. Texting works fine though.

Good but not perfect. App works well but crashes when you try to take calls over Bluetooth (ie while connected to car). Hands free calling is not an option. Also. The magic app does not sync contact across phones so if you have more than one phone with the app installed the contacts in one app will not appear on the other app. The biggest issue I have had is with regards to using the app on more than one phone. You can only connect the app to one phone at a time. So only one of you can pick up the phone over the app. The house will ring and the app will ring but only one app ring at a time. So if your wife and you want to both hear the phone at home ring on your cell phones that is not possible

Neither terrible or amazing. I used magicJack for a few years as a second phone line. It was OK, nothing spectacular, but also not terrible most of the time. The Pros: they gave me a second phone line for dirt cheap. The app works most of the time. The Cons: sometimes text messaging completely stopped working in the app. It wouldn’t work again until they updated the app. SMS only, no MMS. Text messages limited to 160 characters. incoming messages over that amount, get chopped up into several messages, and they are often out of order. There were occasional missed calls, though some of that might’ve been my fault (I live in a rural area with slow internet). Phone call quality was consistently bad whenever I wasn’t on fast Wi-Fi. Customer support is lacking (they took a week to port my number to US Mobile when I left magicjack - most carriers take a few hours). Bottom line: if you need a second number for cheap, and you don’t plan to use it much, magicJack could be your solution. But if you plan on using it occasionally, and you need to send or receive phone calls or texts, you may want to look elsewhere.

International Credit. "BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE" Purchased $40 in international call credit. Had not used it since being stateside. According to their standard customer terms of agreement if not used within 6-mos, MagicJack removes the credit. So let's do some common math...10 people don't use the international credit of $40 within the 6-months equals $400 stolen from subscribers. Simple math again...100-people don't use the credit "The Customer Purchased" (never mind the subscription), again MagicJack steals $4000 according to their terms of service. So let's just say the average person makes $10 per hour in salary. Ok, so that person just worked 4-hours to have "MagicCrack" steal 4-hours of "That Customer's LABOR!" Again, 100-people do the same...that's 400-hours of labor stolen from individuals! Hmmm, never mind they make millions on their devices, subscriptions etc., Been a customer since 2007. It ends here!!!

Working kind of. 1) Updated 6/2/17: magicapp needs to be HomeKit compatible. I think Siri might be able to make phone calls on it then and maybe answer the phone. 2)they still haven't handled linked contacts yet. In the case of a linked contact you only get one of the entries data. This is a problem because it inevitably seems to choose the wrong one. You end up using linked contacts when you have multiple address books in web apps that update contacts (Like Facebook) Or you end up with multiple entries with partial info in each one. 3) Make it iPad compatible too, it needs to be able to change orientation!

Urgent fix is required! Crashes upon using! - No integration to native iPhone ringing. Fix it ASAP! On iPhone X, iOS 12.1, app can be opened, but can’t receive calls and it crashes upon the moment call is received. Missed call will be directed to Voicemail and bad news is even the Voicemail is also buggy and as soon as clicking it to open, AGAIN! The app crashes! Fix it ASAP! Also it is so inconvenient that MagicJack, as a paid application which is subscription based, can not be integrated into the native iOS ringing and alert system. All other FREE VoIP applications with similar functionality such as Viber, Skype, Line, WhatsApp & etc have done this integration very well almost a year ago!!! It’s so unpleasant to get a notification, then unlock the device, then head to the application and finally press a button to answer an incoming call !!!! When your customers paying you it means they trust on you and your high level of services which includes the application you provide for them to use for your services. Main priority of a professional company should be it’s customers convenience and not to stuck in outdated codes and methods.

CONCIERGE??? But why?. In this day and age of IoT and AI, why do we need to pay extra to get CONCIERGE? Has anyone used an operator? It’s a fancy marketing tool to make you feel important. But this is a premium payment to cut in line for trouble shooting. Are we supposed to feel important for getting that attention? Think again. Why do you need to call in the first place? Marketing concierge is not a good thing. It’s a red warning sign dressed as Santa. I just paid for a new service since I’m stuck overseas and need a couple more lines for my folks and myself. After the payment went through, I get two messages: 1) i have to register using a device before getting assigned a number. 2) i have no account compatible with iOS. I would not spend 1 month talking to a bag of nails for a $68 refund (49 + other charges). It’s adding insult to injury. I’ve been a repeat customer for 10+ years. Last march i ported a number to magic jack after a moth of trouble shooting with concierge, the port failed. Like I said this is a well priced backup. If only Magicjack makes catches up with the rest of the plug and play IoT world. I doubt they’ll get get this service up and running nor refund my cash on their own initiative. But I will not subject myself through the pain of getting my money back. If your thinking about subscribing, just think Concierge.

They are developing a whole new version. The new one will have a new interface and everything. It is very very nice. It’s in beta testing and I was participating but had a serious issue regarding missed calls, so had to drop the new beta version. MJ has been wonderful, always dependable, always there when you need it. How can the price be beaten? When they release the new version, I honestly believe business for them will be through the roof. One thing they could try to work on is the quality vs data usage. Facebook uses half the data that MJ uses and I think fb may have slightly better quality. When I was using my jetpack internet only device, I went to facebook calling most times unfortunately. If they dev a good bitrate compression system, they could be very efficient over their own network! They may really benefit from it.

Bug Report & Review. Since there is no where I can send a bug report (you really need a "report an app issue" link of some kind) I am reporting it here. The badge notifications do not turn off once the notification has been observed and the app opened up. The badge just stays there for days. (Hence the 4 Stars) As for reviewing the app and Magic Jack service, it rocks! I have a home voip that works perfectly without a computer. I have used Magic Jack for some 10 years now. $20 a year and you can text and have calls on your WiFi connected phone or iPad, what's not to love! I use two numbers with Magic Jack, one for home and one on my iPad... no one else even come close! If you have been "thinking" about Magic Jack, just get it. It even works overseas to call anywhere in the USA with no extra charges! Love you guys

Worst Customer support ever.. The service work fine until it was time to renew my annual subscription. The app would not give me the option to renew, I contacted Support through the chat and was told I have to wait for an email from Support to help me. Support emailed me two months later asking me to click the button that says renew even though the button doesn't exist... Which made it clear that they never read the logs. I emailed them back telling them I have no upgrade option in the application nor do I see it's on their webpage since the number still shows as active. It's been two weeks now and I still have not received a response and my number is no longer working. On a personal note I think the problem is I added international calling credit to my account and now even though my subscription expired it's still sees that credit and doesn't want me to renew but the problem is Customer Service's to fix.

MJ on ios. Well. Month ago i refilled my IPP minutes. Around the beginning of month i noticed that im not getting spam calls on MJ. I opened app and i saw “none of your subscription compatible with ios”. I wrote to support and they said that now you have to have active subscription on your MJ device to work on iphone. So, ive started number port-out to prepaid tmobile. MJ didnt release number because i didnt have active subscription. I bought one year of subscription - transfer my number to tmobile and then i canceled my subscription. You need to cancel it in 24 hours. Also after 15-16 hours after i bought 1year - “cancel” button disappeared in orders. I had to call billing department. They tried to said that 24 hours passed but in the end they cancel my subscription and ive got refund. Now i will transfer my number to GV. So MJ changed they rules how they want. Thats ok, BUT they had to inform us that our MJ numbers wont work without active subscription. PS ive used them like 9-10 years. And mj app around 6 years.

Has a few bugs and lacks a few featured. Got the app and one year subscription a few weeks ago. Seems to work OK so far, but could use a few more options, like other ring tones, a way to change my name as it appears on the receiver's caller ID, a way to block certain phone numbers, the ability to see who's calling me. (Skype has all these, I believe.) There's a bug, too: every time I open the app, I get a reminder to turn on the Notification center (badge, banner, audio, etc.) Problem is, all of them are ALREADY ON. This bug is beginning to bug me! Unless some improvements come on the scene within the year, I don't plan on renewing my one-year subscription.

So no problems. My parents has had Magic Jack for about 2 years. As retired and disabled, they were tired of having a monthly bill. They have not had any major problems with Magic Jack. The only issue, which I can understand is when they lose home internet connection, they can't make or receive any home phone calls. As for the App, I haven't had any issues so far. When the home phone rings, no matter where I may be, my cell phone rings, whether in locked or unlocked mode. I can pick up the call. I can also listen to voicemails as well through this App. I can make outgoing call as well through this App. I am going to try buying international call credits to call Africa on a separated Magic Jack account I created years ago when my brother was in Germany. I hope it goes well. “UPDATE” Still this is a good app, but it needs some work. I have a lot of drop calls when receiving and making calls as well as when I’m checking my voicemails. This also happens when I’m home over WiFi.

Original Customers Simply Dumped. I’m a purchaser of the original Magicjack physical Windows-only hardware attachment. Some years ago I quit using it, and switched over to their iPhone app to continue using the very same account as my second number, through the iPhone, for $15 auto-paid every December. Because I don’t use it all that often, I didn’t notice immediately that the app I installed had been replaced by this one, which doesn’t even recognize my original account at all. I missed the e-mail notification of the change, but just searched for it, and it tells me nothing about the reasons for the sudden changes and price increases; neither does their Web site, nor Customer Service, which is at least able to look me up. So in short, my number is dead and gone, not even available for transferring to this new service if I were to decide to accept it. No effort was made to “grandfather in” existing customers. It’s been a while, and I know “times change”, but still I’ve been subjected to an “extended bait-and-switch”.

Been a user since it started.. MagicJack has been a great phone service. When they came out with the no computer connected it made it the home phone of choice. The app has extended it so now my home phone followed me when I travel. One problem. I am 86 years old and they just updated the interface on the app that makes it extreamly difficult to see, light gray text on white and my eyesight makes it extreamly hard to use. I have to use the zoom feature on my iPad to use it. Hopefully they will add a dark mode in a future release.

Worse Customer Service Ever. Currently, the app doesn't work AT ALL! When you try to make a call it will say that your free trial has expired, regardless of whether you are not using a free trial and have been paying a subscription for years. I contacted MJ through their live help, which is the only way to speak with a human. Their response: "We are fully aware of the current situation, all magicAPP subscriptions were temporarily deactivated due to update/upgrade for the application. This is not an isolated issue, several customers also complained regarding the same problem. No worries as our engineers are working on this already and doing their best to speed up the process. Please extend your patience." They never gave any notification that accounts would be deactivated. They did nothing. And they say the cannot tell you in what month or year will it be rectified. This company is pitiful.

This app does not work any more. this app does not work any more. it used to work i have wasted over 6 hours on help lines with their staff trying to get it to work they WILL NOT refund your money they WILL NOT acknowledge that there is a Problem with their program despite me sending many screen shots and following their incorrect instructions AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. Worked a long time ago, now stopped working.. Doesn't work anymore after a while no matter what I tried. CANNOT make free calls, false advertising. I think it lets you make free calls for a period at the beginning and then it wants you to pay.

Mic doesn’t work. Mic works only when you plug in headphones and it doesn’t work with phone built microphone tried on multiple devices and the mic works fine but magic jack doesn’t use it

I love MJ. Magic Jack quality has always been good. Very good medium and cost effective.

Fix the bug. New Voicemail message appear in the text feature . But because you have to pay for the text feature, you can not remove the new messages count. So the app Ivón shows all those text as missed calls for ever. Pretty annoying. Fix the bugger.

Best service. I’ve had MagicJack for over a decade and I think it’s the best service ever. Can use it conveniently from my cell phone when travelling and using wifi. Call forwarding is amazing and I’ve saved thousands after all the is time. Only thing that’s missing is sms for Canadian numbers.. come on magic jack. Haha

Fantastic. I have had the MacicJack for years now. When it first came out it had to be connected to a computer. It worked great. Now it is a no brainer. Long distance calls, Canada and USA. FREE Other long distance calls around the world for a very reasonable fee.

When we spoke with them, they had no desire to fix, understand or change what they did, basically too bad. Doesn’t working since renew it.. Renewed on 15 October 2018 but still unable to dial the numbers or thru the contact. And also buy international call credit as well on same time for calling out side US and Canada. Pl. fix this problem ASAP.

Text messages. Ok, so now you have to subscribe and pay a monthly fee to receive text messages. The only text message I ever received on magic app is to tell me I have a vocal message, which I already knew cause voicemail also have a notification. And I can’t remove the notifications on text messages cause I don’t have a subscription… could you please do something about it?

for less than 200$ a month get a real phone line for a year. got a wonderful phone line tht allowed me to call anywhere in the world and was fantastic. israeli company and they do technical suport only by email with priority for the jewish nation.

No Audio Sound. I have audio on outgoing calls on my app. However, if someone calls me, I have no audio on incoming calls. I answer the call, but nobody can hear me. Very frustrating.

Great Phone Service. Magic Jack, I used since 12 years now. Recently introduced sms (text) for Canada too. I work in 3 countries, the sound reception is great, better than What’sapp.

Worse voice quality VOIP service. We tried to make this work. Bought the dongle and plugged into a router. Downloaded the app and sit in the best wifi location. The sound quality is the worse of any possible VOIP service. Literally everything else sounds better and they are cheaper. Also, pray you never have a problem since it is impossible to get through to them via phone and their online support is unhelpful at best.

MagicJack review. I have had magicJack for probably over 20 years and I really like it. The reason I like it is I can phone from Canada to the US with no additional charges. The problem is it interrupts and you can’t hear them for a couple of seconds, and then it comes back on. If not for that, I would give it five stars.

App crashing after receiving sms messages. As soon as I receive a few text messages, the app crashes and logs me out saying "your account has been disabled". Then after reinstalling the app, texting works for a few messages, then it crashes again. Using Canadian number and paying $6.99 for SMS service. Please fix.

I paid over $200 for no service and no help and they’re still asking for more money!. I renewed my phone number last year after several years of not using the app or the device, and they want me to pay the intervening years in which I did not use the number. I renewed the use of my magicjack device at the same time, but it is so old that it can’t be used anymore; I didn’t know when i paid the renewal that I was paying for the old device. BIG MISTAKE on my part. I asked the company to transfer the payment from the device renewal to my unused number, so that I can use the app (after all, I have paid for my number this year) but they refused and continue to send overdue notices. I replied to one of the notices with another request to transfer the funds from the device to the phone number, but they did not respond. So, I paid over $200 for a device and phone number that can’t be used; they don’t respond to emails; they send overdue notices even though I paid; and they also send emails regarding new promotions. What????

I’ve used this app for years, now no incoming calls. It all started a week or so ago my incoming calls don’t work, the person calling me says it goes to voicemail, on my end it keeps ringing, when I answer it shows me the magicApp screen to type in a number, I then find it by going through my open apps and it says connecting but it never does, because it already went to voicemail…it is also using my cell phone interface for incoming calls it never did this before. I have now forwarded all my incoming calls to my cell, something I did not purchase this service to do. I purchased this service to make and receive phone calls from this service, not to supplement it with another service. I am still able to make calls with the app. I have done every form of trouble shooting I can think of, I rebooted all my internet equipment for the connection, restarted my phone, deleted the app and reinstalled it, did a hard reset on my phone loosing tons of stuff and it just doesn’t take incoming calls. I also had magicJack reset my connection from their end. I further had my husband install the app on his iPhone not even the same model as mine, and it does the exact same thing.

Push notifications. Since iOS 12.3 push notifications are not coming through even though they are enabled.

Great quality calls. The quality of calls is very good. Calling from Canada to US is easy. Set up of the app is straight forward. Had a problem with the app for a few days as the auto renew didn’t process even though the payment had gone through but this was resolved and service restored. I would recommend and have no regrets paying for the service which is very reasonable priced.

They Want Money Now!. I've been using the Majic Jack app for more than two years with good success to call numbers in the USA and Canada. But when I tried to use it again on Monday, 16 May, a pre-recorded message informed me that the trial period (?) has ended and now I've got to pay for the service. Trial period of more than two years? You must be kidding. Garbage app and service. App deleted. Good riddance!...

Magic jack app is not working on iPhone 7. I have been having problems with connecting my magic jack to the network. My MJ number is connected over this app on my two iPhones 7 and I can’t dial and receive phone calls. The message offline displays all the time.

Please add MMS!. This app continues to get better and better. It’s MUCH more stable and easy to use than in the past. However, there are two features that would be great… First, it would be great if we could sign in to more than one device - Even better would be if I could sign in on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Second, I’m so happy that Canadian SMS was recently added, but I’m really hoping they’ll add MMS soon. Keep up the good work!

Not worth the frustration. I can’t be scathing enough about this app and magic jack as a company. The app has a simple, noobie bug that denies access to all but 3 of numbers that we bought. We bought 11, so that is 8 devices paid for and wasted. Tech support is “very sorry”. The developer cannot be contacted except by “suggesting an enhancement”. (It’s a bug.) The program has changed recently. We can now see 6 numbers. That is not fixed, but it is not clear whether it is supposed to be. Very, very poor customer relations. Not worth the frustration

Spam callers/scammers. One star because why is it as soon as I signed up for magicJack (keep in mind I haven’t even used my number yet for anything or given my number to anyone so I’m hindsight friends nor family knows this number exists yet) WHY AM I GETTING SPAM CALL RELIGIOUSLY ALL DAY EVERYDAY ????? Do you know how disturbing and annoying that is ? It’s less than a week already since I got this and I’m highly annoyed and already thinking of ending my subscription and deleting my account . Also I already had an account from years ago and i now he Ave a new number because they won’t just let my log in to my account I already had and proceed from there

App not usable ios13. Hardware works. So the app doesn't work for ios 13.. Crashes... But i just cannot take away all the stars as the hardware jack works great... Not happy they got rid of 5yr to only 3 years at the same price though.. Also wish there was a way to include the ported Canadian number in with the years of service... So if you buy the three years at 89, you can pay the 30 for three years of the Canadian number and have it all due same time.. Save a bit of headaches with the annual renewal and the service fee every time.

Magic Jack getting worse and worsening. I’ve been using Magic Jack for more than 10 Years now. I have several numbers for myself and family. This app used to be so convenient and easy both at home and on my mobile. It was especially convenient when traveling abroad and still able to be in touch with the office and family at home. HOWEVER for about 2 years now most of my incoming and outgoing calls are being dropped while my international credit is being charged for outgoing calls not completed. I called customer service and they have no clue what I’m talking about!!! 2 years ago they convinced me to buy an additional token (to install at home in addition to my paid number on my cellphone) and assured me that the calls would not be dropped anymore.... IT DID NOT AND STILL DOES NOT WORK. I wish the service was as good as 10 years ago!!! It’s NOT worth the headache and frustration!!!

Better off with a separate line. I’ve used Magic Jack for several years and have been using the app for over a year now. It has ALWAYS been terrible at notifying you of a phone call. It doesn’t ring, vibrate, or give a notification of a call. It merely informs me when I get a voicemail from a missed call. This is incredibly annoying as I use it for my side business. All settings are properly adjusted to allow for proper notifications and alerts; it just doesn’t do them. I have to play phone tag constantly and hope the recipient answers my call since I’m unable to answer when they call me.

This app eats money for international call. I have upgrade today paid $9.99 for one year subscription. After upgrade and paid, I cannot make phone call. After long waiting for customer support, finally get the work. Since I purchased international call, I tried to make international, the message let me waiting and trying to connection, the the clock starts count. After 90 minutes waiting, nothing happened. Then I handoff and check my balance, $0.08 is gone. I got live chat support and tried couple of times, still does not work, my balance is going down. So please use carefully for international, you will be charged for connecting time.

App isn’t as good as it could be. Can make/get calls like a normal phone. Limited to one old school ringtone. I can’t hear it unless close to me, frequency is too high. Also has problems connecting to wifi if cellular is turned off, but works when cellular is on then using wifi after checking cell data use. Texting seams to load messages in chunks and out of order sometimes. Just seems slapped together.

Not recommend it. When I started to use this app I just downloaded the app and purchased my phone number for a limited time. The next year they didn't extend my term and asked me to purchase a device which was totally useless, and I never used it after renewing my account for another year. Then I purchased international calling credit which was more expensive compare to other international calling apps. The international calling quality was very poor and they charge you when you call someone even if nobody response your call. They also sometimes charge your credit card without your permission.

IT WONT WORK WHAT SO EVER !!. I try everything I can to download this magicjack app for the last a few months now but it won’t work I have the latest and upgraded phone but still won’t work this is what it said every time I try to login to the magicjack app “None of your subscription is comparable to IOS” It appears magic jack is are trying to prevent other people none magic jack users to download the app but they end up blocking the real magicjack users! If you say free app then it’s Free App why making it so complicated? There are many free app this days but why magicjack is making so complicated for the subscribers? I just Gave Up and I will not being bothered to renewing my magicjack subscription now it’s over !! Too much GREED!

Frustrated!!!. Last week, the app was updated on my iPhone but did not trigger a request to access the microphone. Support tried everything and then said I need a new phone! Then said MJ no longer allows 2 communication devices to work simultaneously with only one USB device. So I would have to log out on one device and use the app on the other. NO warning of this change to customers! This week, the app updated on my iPad, but would not trigger a request to access the mic. Support tried everything w/o any success. This is the first unsolvable issue with MJ after years of good service. Now with the above policy change and an updated app, NOTHING WORKS!!! Will have to move over to TextNow.

Used to be good. This app is slowly getting out of date. I've been using this app for years with a paid subscription for my own number. I'm really disappointed after all this time this app hasn't been updated enough to customize ringtone, allow Siri to interact to app, also when incoming calls come through I have to enter my password to answer often missing the call. It's been a while since iOS has released widgets it would be nice to see this app interact with that as well. Not to mention you can't send photo texts and sometimes people I tex get a strange audio clip instead. This app needs a major overhaul.

Stopped working!!!. The only reason why I gave it 3 stars is because I always used this app to make and receive phone calls along with text messages. Now it has stopped working telling me that I opted out of getting their outbound call service. I can only receive calls now despite me paying for my own number. When I tried talking to customer service the person I spoke to couldn't even figure out why this has occurred. I then logged into the site & opted back into receiving both outbound and incoming call and it still has not fixed the issue! Fix it now please!

Need to do a lot better. Been a long time user over 5 years and I have to tell you , unless you guys start improving this will be my last year with you guys . First major problem is the call quality has really gone down the crapper . Either comes in staticky or can't hear at all. Next in line the app is just messed up all around I'm not to sure which update screwed it up but. Something did. First off calls aren't even coming in. All I'll get is a notifications of missed calls . So unless you happened to be on the phone at that moment you won't receive that call. Next the messaging and calls aren't syncing correctly

Works well but no ringing available. I’ve had magicJack app for years and enjoy the service. The company has done well implementing new features to improve their service and I look forward to their next upgrade. However, my biggest complaint will be the claim of simultaneous phone ringing. The phone app DOES NOT ring. If you do not have voice mail setup, you will miss calls. Occasionally the line cuts or there is so much static you can not hear the other person. For the money you pay, it is worth it.

Crashes over Bluetooth... help. Hello, I have been having this issue not sure how long. Whenever I receive a call on the car and is answer while been connected to the car over Bluetooth the app crashes and I loose the call. I have to turn off the Bluetooth to be able to get a call when inside a car. When I am connected to my BeatsPro there is no issue... Using iPhone X, pioneer radio on the car. Will. Will test on other cars later. Please help us to drive safer by fixing this issue. Thank you

More trouble than it’s worth. It doesn’t work all the time which makes it worthless since you cannot rely on it. To make matters worse, technical support is a joke. I waited 30 min “on queue “ to be helped by an online staff, stated my problem (system down, could not make a call again) was told: I can help you with that but for security reasons I need your name, phone number, email address and billing address. I inputted the info an was told that the app system was undergoing maintenance and that I needed to call back in couple hours...all the waiting for absolutely nothing. Look for alternatives and trust the reviews....it gets bad reviews for a reason.

I held out as long as I could. The owner or the administrators of this company hack your devices, intercept your calls, and prevent you from getting any information electronically. Once they have your device logged in, they stay quite and key-log everything you connect to through your device. For instance, you download and run MJ on your iPhone, then they sit back and collect your email addresses and passwords, your tax information, and contacts’ information, and everything that you do from that device. If you connect that device to something else, like you computer, they’ll be collecting information on that device too! You beg them to stop and they don’t care. They’ve got the FCC on them, and I wonder why Apple still allows them to put their hack-ware on the App Store. Totally fraudulent. Delete the app. Make hard copies of all of the information your devices. Sell the phone and every other device you have. Buy a new device. Manually upload your data. It’s the only way to get rid of them. Oh, and never call your MJ phone number again, because if you do, they’ll know your new number. You’ve been warned.

Should have more features!. Ok, it's great to be able to use the app to complete calls on my idevices. BUT, it's got problems and needs basic features/improvements! My first suggestion is make it easier than writing a review like this to convey my thoughts! Second, if someone calls that you DONT want to answer, the only way to reject the call is to open the app. I don't know if it's an IOS limitation but a simple way to reject calls would be very helpful. Additionally, there REALLY needs to be a way to blacklist or block callers! For some reason I get a lot of junk calls and wish I could block every last one of em from wasting my time!

Worst app ever. I gave it 1 star because I could not give it 0. No incoming calls available - spent 3 days trying to resolve this with the technical team - downloaded uploaded the app every time, logged in and out - changes the voicemail, did the internet upload and download speed test - and that said that it’s because there is 0.7% loss !!! That’s not even 1 percent and the app does not work ? i needed this because my mom is in the emergency room and doctors have to contact me . I asked if I could forward my incoming calls to my phone - and that was not available either . Not very helpful - now I’ll try and get my money back - Keep your money and go somewhere else

Good to park your number. I got this in order to keep my landline at a very inexpensive cost. That is the great part. However if you really need this to make a lot of calls I suggest pay a little more and get something else. The app does not allow to block numbers and does not connect with Nomorobo. The desktop app only works if the device is plugged directly into computer which is not how I want to operate it. Call quality can be spotty at times but thankfully I rarely make calls from my old number so this is a good alternative for me but wish there were more features in the app because it would be useful to avoid using my mobile phone number when making calls on the road.

Frustrating. Using this on my iPhone requires me to login before making a call. The app logs me out after i complete a phone call. Very frustrating when you have to make several calls in succession. It would optimal to have it default logout after 15 minutes of idle time instead of when a call is disconnected. Another option would be to allow a person to finish a call and then present a pop up asking if you would like to make another call.

Wow, after 10 years. Takes a while to get used to, but after 10 years of using this in my business, home and life,I have to say the magic jack is by far the best voice over IP service. For example many of the free or cheap numbers online through voiceover IP won’t work to attach to any accounts, as they’re not seeing his true numbers. I’ve never had my magic number fail for creating an account for verification or otherwise. I used a vanity number for nearly 10 years, currently trying to get this back and having a little bit of difficulty with it, but in my experience, MagicJack’s customer service and billing department will work it out... Vibrates phone even with notifications off. I have been chasing a fantom vibration on my phone for months... finally one day when the ringer was on for the wired phone attached to my magic jack I heard it ringing at the same time as my phone vibrating with no notifications no badges no other alerts of any kind. So I launched the app and sure enough... incoming call... how in the heck is it activating the vibration with all notifications turned off... well now it’s uninstalled till I hear this is fixed... good riddance.. so annoying to have you phone vibrate sometimes 4-5 to times a day for almost 4 months with no Idea why... fix your app...

Unreliable. This app has glitch after glitch. I have been using it for three years while we serve overseas and I don’t think there has been a long period without a problem. I have bought international credits that have never showed up in my account and Apple would not refund after so many tries. The latest update shows I miss a call everyday. There is a notification on my screen with a number but once I go in the app there is nothing in the list but there is a 1 looking like there is something new. It won’t clear unless I delete the app and reinstall then the same thing happens the next day.

Magic Jack is amazing. We live overseas and wanted to keep our U.S. number for the next 3 years. The crazy hefty fees the other companies wanted to charge us. Then came Magic Jack, the absolute best alternative. Now I can make 800 calls without worry, I can get text message like I lived in the U.S. my overseas tout has been made that much easier and simpler. The calls are not 100% all the time but at least I have the option without paying through the nose. Thank you Magic Jack.

Very unhappy with the service. I’ve had my subscription for years. Upgraded for paid subscription since 2015. It charges automatically every December 31st directly though my apple id. I was charged as usual but when i log in to the app it says my subscription expired and i lost my number. I live outside the US and this is the number i have linked to everything so it’s extremely frustrating. I called support and apparently none of my emails or addresses match what they have on file so they wont help. If someone from the company actually reads this please contact me to get this solved. Drops every call. At least once. My friends know it’s coming when we’re having a conversation, and they know I’ll call back. But when you’re talking to a doctor or lawyer, or any kind of business, then it becomes highly problematic. Also, they keep sending emails telling me it’s time to renew, when I just paid for the next 3 years. That makes me wonder who’s running the place/thing. My email is connected to my account, so how do they not know that I’m paid up? Are they hoping that I have Alzheimer's and may go ahead and pay again? What a despicable practice… The app gets a negative 5 stars with me.

Doesn’t work! CS rep said the app has a bug.. I have the app on my iPad Pro and wanted to switch it over to my phone. The app wouldn’t connect to their server/network or whatever. I just wouldn’t work. Frustrated I waited and called their customer service. They basically told me to uninstall and reinstall which of course I had already done. Then the rep told me the app has a bug and doesn’t work with iPhone 8 Plus. So this app whole purpose of existing doesn’t work. It’s been over 2 months since last update. Expletive you magic jack! I don’t have your home dongle thing so basically I’m paying for a service I can’t really use.

Doesn’t work. I have been using magic jack ever since the first model of Magicjack for PC. After so many years of using it with a desktop (which I don’t use anymore) y downloaded the app cuz I thought it was revolutionary. I worked for a year and then it stop. I can’t not make phone calls and I have been charged already the second year subscription, it says “ready to call” but when I dial a number nothing comes up... it just stops. I can’t receive a call, call, send messages, and of course there’s no way for me to call customer service because I’m abroad (not in the USA) Update: it’s been several months with no help from customer service.

Terrible customer interface. I no longer needed due to WiFi Calling feature on my smartphone. So I looked throughout the screens on the phone and via the login to the website on my laptop, and found NO instructions (even in FAQ) about how to stop the $1.99/month charge. I began a chat with MagicJack Customer Service, and the rep didn't know how to stop the charge. I eventually opened a ticket with Apple, who explained how to cancel the charges via the phone settings. Perhaps I should've known that I could do this through the phone, but MagicJack should have that information where it is can be found. App has worked OK while I was using it, which is why it got 2 stars instead of 1.

Converted my old land line to magic jack MANY years ago. Magic jack has worked great for me for probably 10 years or more. Now with the app I receive all calls on my phone. After 10 years no one calls my old land line number so I now use it for part time business/side jobs. That way customers I don’t know don’t get my personal #

Can’t turn notifications off. My only complaint is that you can’t turn the call notifications off without deleting the app. I used this for my retail store when our store phone wasn’t working, and I had to uninstall and reinstall it each shift because I couldn’t turn off the calls. Other than that, everything is PERFECT about this app! Except, I can’t see what I’m typing? The text is white on a white background. So we’ll see how this turns out.

Great app, but still missing something. I have used magicapp on my iPhone and iPad for 2 years. It's great for cutting dependence on cell phone providers. The call quality is always great, have not had any issues with the service or app. My only complaint is with the release of iOS 10 the integration with CallKit has not yet been utilized. This app would be even better if CallKit was used for answering calls from the lock screen like a native iPhone call and initiating magicapp calls from the native iOS contacts app.

Terrible especially for $10. The App does not work anymore yet the developer continued to take my money when It autorenewed inJune 2018. NOW, when I tried using the app I get a message: “An active magicJack DEVICE subscription is required to use the magicJack APP. If you have recently ordered a magicJack device, please register the device and try again.” (All caps are my inclusions) The app used to work with subscription but without device subscription. When did the Developers make this change; and why doesn’t the app advertise this in the store? Secondly, they make it impossible to ask for help. To try to contact their customer care from the website, they link you around until finally you get a prompt screen asking for your magicJack phone number - which you can’t figure out because, well, you get that message instead. Then they ask for a non magicJack number, but when you input it, it is invalid. Nowhere in the site can you leave an email to be contacted. They list US numbers, but if you are outside the US (and isn’t that the reason we would use this app?)- well that’s not free.

App is terrible and customer support is worse.. I spent over an hour waiting on their “live chat” support before I was able to chat with someone. The problem was not fixed, and the suggestions were all the things I had already done, which is why I was contacting them. It blows my mind that a company that offers a voice telephone service does not have a voice hotline to call. You must email or chat to solve your issues. Additionally, these calls are not truly unlimited. They have limits. My calls get dropped and when I asked the answer was that they does this to “maintain phone line integrity”. I’m not sure what that means.

Comfort of MagicJack. Been a customer for over 8 years and have lived in both the US and overseas. This service is always reliable and a great way for personnel and business contacts to reach me no matter where I’m at and without worrying about accruing a long distance call for the people needing to reach me. It’s the one phone number that never changes as I move and travel from location to location. Not to mention the ridiculously low cost of having this service at 5-year intervals.

Better, little by little. Still not perfect. Call me a perfectionist. Magic App continues to be my main VoIP app across all of my devices. I was hoping that this update would afford us some choices of ringtones. Nope. That must be asking for too much. Equally as frustrating is the fact that when receiving an incoming call, only the phone number is displayed as a notification. This drives me absolutely bonkers. I must know the phone numbers of my contacts in order to determine who is calling. These two issues would earn a deserved five stars despite the other annoying issue of other devices using my MagicApp continuing to ring four or five times after answering the call. This is my seventh year using MagicJack and I have been using the app since its inception as well. So please, my dear app developers, address and fix the first two issues, and soon. Make MagicJack great. And it will help to make America great again.

Great > when it works. Always seems to be trouble after either an Apple update or MagicJack update. I get logged out and cannot log in. Enter logon ID and password, press the Sign In button and there is no response. Press forgot password or Create New Account and there is a response. Wait a week or two or just keep deleting the app then reinstalling and finally it works. Have had the same number for almost 10 years and don’t want to change but this crap is getting very old. I live outside the US so it’s very nice to have a stateside number WHEN IT WORKS. About time to drop MagicJack for food.

Gdar. I’ve used magic jack and magic app for many years now. Sometimes there are connection issues because of low internet speeds but when you and the one you are calling have fair internet connection this works great. It’s been a life saver for me living outside the country and able to keep in touch with my friends and family. Thanks Magic Jack for being so helpful and great. Also I’ve been buying a 5 year plan for a few years now which saves money.

Love the service -will update to 5 star once the app works well. The app is good and I like the interface And I love magic jack as a service I do wish 2 things: It can be logged into in more than one device at once -like google voice can with the same number (still have this...you can call out with better quality and calls in/out are somewhat clearer) I also wish: The recent iOS update broke my voicemail I call into it from the app just fine on my iPhone max, but it has issues when I push the buttons it doesn’t react as if I did (such as “press 1 to listen to messages” currently won’t take me there or so anything ) this bug will be fixed soon I’m sure and I will try to update ASAP when it has been ironed out...new phones tend to throw these type of new bug issues into the hands of our hardworking developers ..I’m grateful it tells me if incoming calls come in

Very satisfied with one feedback. I love the versatility of it, and reliability. Only one ask for improvement - to be able to receive messages from All 1-800 numbers. Not being able to creates wrinkles with some important needs . Also - it seems images cannot be sent. All in all I am very happy with the convenience of it, the voicemail, all.

The most needed function doesn’t work. As a family assigned overseas, the most necessary reason for a US number is text verification services. Our names are registered, our identity can be determined … but this service cannot be used. “Long texts” cannot be accepted. Also many messaging apps are free,have no character count, and pics can be sent. I pay for this one, pics aren’t allowed and messages come through in multi part texts jumbled into a puzzle… not even in order. I’ve been a customer for about 15 years just waiting for updates to be done that never come.

FRAUDULENT *DO NOT DOWNLOAD*. Seriously, don’t waste your time with this. I’ve had this application for over two years without any problems, but I’ve finally ran into issues. I tried purchasing $4.99 worth of call credit to call my family overseas and it simply took my money and stated their “server is offline, try again later”, and I NEVER received that call credit. I tried again but it instead took my money AGAIN and STILL no call credit. I sent an email to their support staff only to never hear back from them. I’m short ten bucks and have to go to another application to call. Don’t waste your time using this app if you’re gonna call people in other countries, it’ll just take your money.

No Support/App Just Broke/Lack of ITQA. There is no way to submit bugs in the support website so all I have is a review. Your latest update just broke the app and it no longer works. I no longer can make outgoing calls or check voicemails from the app. You need to fix this and Apple should ensure links to support sites ensure there is a mechanism to actually submit bug reports for apps they distribute via their App Store. As an IT Quality Assurance Professional, there is improvement opportunities for both companies when issues like this occur. Hopefully both companies read and understand and take appropriate corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs) here.

Call Features. I absolutely love the new Call Blocking feature. I’ve had MagicJack for years but seriously contemplated canceling because I couldn’t block calls (i.e. telemarketers). Not so good news is—you can only block up to 99 numbers. The way these robo-calls work, they can call you from several different numbers in a matter of 30 minutes. I’m afraid my block list will fill up pretty fast. Then what? They do have an Automated Call Screening feature but I haven’t decided if I want to use that yet.

They took my money but I can’t use the app. I have lived in Italy since 2015 and have used this app for two years. It works great until it doesn’t and customer support is needed to try and fix. My subscription was renewed for another at the beginning of April but I haven’t been able to use since the most recent iPhone update. I can receive calls but cannot make them. Terribly frustrating as I am moving back to the US and I desperately need to make some important phone calls regarding my job and upcoming move. I have downloaded other calling apps and none of them work as well as magic jack worked for me. If they take my money they should provide better assistance when issues arise.

Change the App back. I have the MagicJack for my house phone. I have had the app on my cell phone for several years. I would be able to get my MJ house phone calls on my cell through the app when I was out of town but be able to turn it off when I was back in town at my house. Now, after an update, I can no longer turn it off and I 100% of the time receive my house phone calls at the house AND on my cell. I don’t want this. Please fix this. Please also make the pop up screen go away that says ‘Darn. Magic Jack App works much better with permissions...’. The screen is irritating and it should have the option ‘don’t show me this again’ as it pops up EVERY time you open the app.

App is TERRIBLE. Do not use this app. I subscribed to this app for almost 3years and it suddenly stopped working. Yet the company continues to bill me monthly for auto renew. There is no way to get in contact with a customer service rep unless you want to purchase a new product. I sat for 1 hr in a que for a rep to receive notification that one wasn’t available when my turn came. If looking for a way to speak with family internationally this app is faulty. Calls drop regularly. App wouldn’t put calls through properly even with IPHONE set to correct notifications. I am very disappointed with this app and only kept it to make calls to US while living abroad.

Can’t even login. Downloaded the app, try to log in, a window pops up saying I need an active account to login. Can’t get past that screen. My account is active for another 11 months. This is ridiculous as mobile is the reason I paid for a year subscription. Two suggestions. First fix the app obviously, second change the app to allow you to login even if your account isn’t active. I mean this is just bad design, what are you going to be able to do by logging in if your account isn’t active? Renew it maybe? I’d imagine if you don’t have an active number you couldn’t do much else, so what is this design even preventing other than allowing me to use the app with an active account?

VERY Poor SMS Reliability. App provides NO MMS (pictures etc.) messaging, and its text-only SMS service reliability has been and continues to be *VERY* poor - often their sms messaging system goes down and you’re simply left to wonder why no one is responding or you’re not receiving anything. Access to genuine tech support is almost non-existent - Aside from messaging w/a “live” cust. serv. rep. all you can now do is to “report a problem” via the app (1-way communication) and hope that somebody fixes the problem(s) within their system(s) whenever...

It has been almost good but big issues are not resolved. I have had the app for over a decade. It has been okay but sometimes the other person cannot hear me. And there are US numbers you cannot call ( I cannot call a friend in Alaska using the app.) But the worst that happened to me is my ability to send and receive text has just stopped. I cannot do that any more. I contacted technical support but they could not fix the issue and recommended to contact the developer by reporting the issue, which I had done already. I am still waiting for a solution. I don’t think this magicJack app is useful without the ability to send and receive text.
