Bioanthropologist. I purchased this app 10 days ago (on 16 April 2012). Until last night, I had only used the text-based aspect of the app, and I've been pleased with the definitions and the information. However, last night, when I tried to use the audio function, I discovered that it does not work. Accordingly, I used the developer's online submission form to inform the developer of the problem, and to ask for assistance. On the plus side: I received a rapid response addressing my concerns. On the negative side: the response noted that the company is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it. Let me be clear: I don't consider it a dramatic negative that the app has a problem -- these things happen. What I do find to be a negative is the fact that I did not see this information on the app page. Given that this non-functionality is a known issue, I believe that the developer should indicate that on the app page, and inform the potential buyer that the company is working to resolve the issue. Thus, if the audio function is crucial to a potential buyer's purchasing decision, she can make an informed decision about her purchase. Owing to these issues involving the lack of up-front communication and the lack of functionality of part of the program, I currently rate the program at 3 stars. When the program is updated and fully functional, I'll revisit my review.

Not bad as pocket assistant. I use this app from time to time, better than carrying the book !!, but for price i prefer to help people by lowering it cost, you could get more sales!!

Great, but needs a little more work. While I can't vouch for the completeness of this app (I'm merely a junior in college taking anatomy), I can tell you that this app works quite well. The four different ways to search are very useful. Straight searching and keyword search are very responsive. Fuzzy and wildcard queries take a little longer, but the delay is minimal. Unfortunately, I could not find a "Help" section for this app (even in the appendix) and had to ever back to the app store page to learn how to use some of the features. There are a surprising number of pictures with plenty of detail for my needs. Zooming in is quite and many diagrams have high resolution. My one complaint is that many entries are merely subordinate sections of a major word and require that you scroll down to find the word your searching for among the other related words. I feel like this app really should bring you straight to the word your queried, or at least highlighted the word to make it easier to find. Furthermore, the "linking" feature needs some work.

Happy with my purchase. I purchased this app months ago. I use it as a dictionary and occasionally for pronunciation and it works great! Like most professional medical books I wish it had been a little more affordable. It is probably my most used resource.

Need improvment. Please, stop asking me to rate the app. And also for the amount of money it costs, you really need to improve it.

Pete Vegas. Finally I made a decision to spend money on this app. Because it's quite expensive. PRO: 1) more comprehensive,there are 120,000entries, than Dorland's Medical Dictionary which there are only 40,000 entries. 2) there are 15 appendixes( for example: appendix4 there is a list of words for phobia 3) there are index to tables, index to plates -for example show pictures of various bone fractures.4) can adjust font size and pinch and zoom. CON: there is link search, but only the words that are underlined in the text. The small version you can tap any word in the definition to find the definition, if there is no definition you can go back to where you are. That is why I give the app only 4 stars , I will give 5 stars if I have that feature back ,because it more fun to search. IN CONCLUSION: I love this app, the most comprehensive so far we have on IPhone. Quick search at work. Only complain I have I just want the missing feature that I can tap any words in the definition to find the definition.

Excellent app. So much help while studying

Medical Student. This app is great! It contains everyday terms and obscure terms that may take a great deal of time to find on google. For example I typed in HTLV-1 a cancer gene. It proceeded to tell me what cancer it caused how it developed and linked me to similar cancers caused by a similar mutation. Today we had a guest lecture from a very old physician who referred to the "old dead guy name" of a nucleus in the brain. I typed in the name and it came back with the "modern" anatomical name of the structure. I wish I would of downloaded this app sooner. I am not sure why someone said it was not worth it. I would almost say it is a must. In addition it is usable offline.

Dorland's Medical Dictionary - The Only One!. As a physician, this dictionary helps me to help others. I have hard copies at home and at the office. In Healthcare? Get it!

Extremely Helpful!. Dorland's Medical Dictionary has been and will continue being an Institution by it self for students and medical professionals. Very helpful and handy in my iPad.

Limited Content. Compared to some other Medical Dictionary Apps, I feel this one is limited in content, user ability and the interface isn’t as smooth.

Interface could use some work, but a very helpful app. Content is concise and well rounded with enough to satisfy before reaching for alternate sources if needed. I frequently compare entries with Taber’s for a quick overview, as the perspectives are different but mostly complement each other. MobiSystems could learn a bit from Unbound’s interface, particularly the branched entries without leaving the main definition, higher bitrate voiceover, expanded indices, and more illustrations (“illustrated” is a bit misleading). The word history is helpful when revisiting terms. Not a fan of the “homepage” starting point and find raising the keyboard twice to clear old entries to input new ones annoying. Overall, a good product that gets frequent if not daily use. Worth the price and then some. MUCH BETTER NOW. Congrats Team.

The Best Connection to Medical Definitions. Dorland’s Illustrated Medical Dictionary, is one of the most quality dictionary's for education and personal use. I am a professor teaching medical terminology in a community college and encourage all my students to use the app throughout their training. It is the most functional tools to use for personal and professional growth.

Not working for certain words sometime. I was searching for the meaning of the prefix noto in the word notochord and when I do so I got this 1. Noto : no result 2. Not: no result 3.Noto-: no result 4.Not-: no result I discovered though you have to do search with Not( Or Not(o) To actually get result!!!! Not intuitive and streamlined Some crashes also happened many times on my up to date iOS on my iPhone 11 Max pro I expect more from software that is 50$ prices One more thing the software is not well maintained by developers as it is not bug fixed frequently like other software, you can get this from the last version they published to App Store

A good start, but many improvements are needed.. Let's start with the fact this app is nowhere CLOSE to being worth $50, let alone $30. They see to have some great features (abbreviation list, flash cards, a great dictionary), but they all seem to be underdeveloped. First, it doesn't appear to have been properly formatted for an electronic device - you can barely see the print! Secondly, as an illustrated version, I expect some decent diagrams, but there are very few. There are many features of the iPad I would like to see utilized for this app before I could happily recommend it. The only benefit I see with the app, is the ability to more quickly search the dictionary than with its hardbook counterpart. Oh, and it's lighter to carry.

Dorland’s Medical Dictionary. This publication is a “life saver” to those of us in the medical field—or at least it is like our “right hand.” It is very descriptive, thorough, and has excellent cross references.

For review. Thanks for this nice dictionary but I would like to tell you that there is I think a mistake for an image in the definition of pseudohypo parathyroidism , the definition mentions that it for short metacarpals but it's not for metacarpals. Lastly I hope you to update the application to include details and trade names of drugs.

Disappointed. This dictionary was recommended by my professor in a medical terminology course. I thought the iPad version would be more useful than a hard copy but I am disappointed. The flashcards are not overly functional if you have different study sets you need to form. Having the word pronounced for you is nice but that is basically the only positive use of technology they use with this app. Everything else is just like having a book...nothing else is interactive. There is so much more they could have done. You pay a little less than a paper copy of the book but at this price it would have been nice to see more electronic benefits. I could have purchased a much cheaper app for my purposes. I feel like I just paid for the name and reputation. Other companies are doing a better job when it comes to electronic medical reference materials.

Best medical dictionary. I am using this dictionary since 2001. It is best medical dictionary ever. It is very useful to have it as smart phone app.

Could have been five. Nice medical dictionary but very slow. Otherwise worth five stars if it ran faster and did not have to have access to the Internet. Also the ads are annoying, especially since I paid full price for the app.

The only app I ever need in my med school. I use this app in my med school in a daily basis. It is very rich in information and photos. Thank you for iPhone 6 Plus update! ** The only thing that I hope developer may fix someday is its search method. If you look up a combined word, eg; juvenile Diabetes, the same word will be shown in search results. However , when u click it, the root of the word will be displayed (in this case,diabetes) and you should look for you word manually through scrolling. Which sometimes can be really cumbersome. Interfering with the functionality of this app as u might use it while training and ever second count.

Excellent content, but poor user experience.. • Content can be found anywhere on the internet, the only reason it’s excellent in this phone is that users have offline access to it. • Swiping from the left edge of the screen to go back doesn’t work. It’s something that works across all native iOS apps. Swiping down to invoke search, bring the keyboard and select the previously searched word on the search bar, is not a thing either. I paid 55$ for this app. The developers should really work on the user interface. I’m usually busy and studying when I use the app. It shouldn’t distract me from my studying. I hope someone read this and make some changes.

Dr. Your app is great, but sending your readers to the depths of the dictionary to read sketchy definitions of words of the day is a trifle unappealing. Definitions should be rich and informative, even exploring etymologies and history of words or terms or phrases, like dictionary.com does. Second, can your notifications through emails rather than the medical dictionary itself? Thanks.
