Good but would be great with audio prompts. I really dig this app. Tried it out after looking for a better route home than the death trap google maps wanted to send me through. I loved how it kept me off the busy roads and took me a safer way. Only thing I wish it had was audio prompts. Hope that’s coming in later updates.

An okay App ... but .... Unfortunately, there’s no Bluetooth connectivity so unless you have a phone mount on your bike you’re “sol” unless you print out the route on paper and tape it to your handlebar. Additionally, there are roads which are no longer thoroughfares and I’ve ended up having to back track and figure out a reroute I. Order to get to my end destination.

Great app. Use this app to find new and interesting routes

Amazing app!. Google maps watch app is gone but through this app I can get the trails or maps from google or Apple maps or both. It is quite amazing for anyone who likes bicycle trails built in to their gps.

Crashes nicely, but doesn’t do anything else. Is this app supposed to just spend 30 seconds at a logo, show a map with an ad banner for 5 seconds and then crash? If so, it does that really well...I just don’t find that useful at all.

This is a great bike navigation tool. Took my first tour ride 250 miles. Not a single problem with this app. It takes you on less traveled roads and I think it watches elevation changes too, not sure. Then it will put you on a bike trail if it works. Really easy to use as well. I’m 60 not a techy really intuitive.

First time user. Was good for directions picked a decent route. I was hoping to have directions spoke to me through headphones is that an option? Also the tracker for time and miles was broken up into 3 workouts none of which look accurate

Still useless. Prompts to turn on location in every screen.

Cycle the world with this app. I love Cycle maps- from navigating on quiet streets around London to route planning and cycling in Spain, Australia,France or Switzerland. The only time it’s been a bit short is lacking some cycle paths in the New Forest. I use it constantly for route planning. Easy to use and great to see the route elevation profile ahead of time.

Let’s me do exactly what I bought my Apple Watch for (ALMOST!!). Great app, I bought the Apple Watch so I could get bike directions on the go, turns out Google got rid of their app on watchOS years ago and Apple maps still famously doesn’t have bike directions in 2019 (shame on you Apple!). The only thing that I’d like this to do is play the audio from the watch in my earbuds connected to my phone. I’ve worked around this by setting navigation on both devices, and looking at the Watch while listening to the same directions on my phone. This is obviously not optimal for battery life, so I’m giving this 4 stars, but I want to give it a 3.5. I will change it to 5 stars if the either a) directions came thru the earbuds without navigating on my phone as well, or b) navigation on my phone can be sent to the watch with a button or similar command, to at least streamline my current workaround. Good job fulfilling the market void of bicycle directions in cities!

Not use friendly. I downloaded the free version to try. I watched to tutorial. But the features the tutorial indicated were not easily found OR I never was able to use. For instance, it allowed me to put a pin a location but would not let me choose the route. It chose. And it wouldn’t let me factor in like a round trip. After 30+ min of messing with it I thought, meh I’ll just go. Since my phone was on my arm and there are no verbal directions I got off course. It said “off route”. Again I thought, meh, I have pedal tracking on, maybe it will just show me where I went so I can see how far I road. Nope. Once I got home I couldn’t even figure out how to get it to stop. Anyway even this review is taking to long to write all my frustrations. Won’t be purchasing.

Give it a shot.... It works as advertised

Good app. I just have to get used to it. How do you save a route?

Works great!. It’s a great app and the updates have been useful.

A must for city riding. Sad that google maps isn’t on your Apple Watch? Scared when apple maps in walking mode sends you blithely up the wrong way of a one way street? Terrified when apple maps in driving mode sends you into a highway tunnel? Get this. Bicycle mapping. As it should be. On your wrist. On your phone. Very open so you can use the routes in other workout trackers. Super.

A great option, some cool features!. I have only used for about 50km of riding, in EU, but it promises to be great. I have often used G***le maps for its offline feature, but that doesn’t allow bike layers in offline mode. This also allows different map options, so it will be fun to try bike routes with Apple and OpenStreet maps. I like the bike computer function, fun to see how fast I go down some large hills and to moderate my pace on rides I don’t want to get all sweaty! The health integration is great, as is the privacy approach! The auto stop/start seems great for tracking to reduce distractions at the more dangerous times (intersections for example). Two critiques so far, when stopping to inspect the map a few times, it seemed to start flipping orientation randomly. This was an intermittent error. Also at one point the map started flashing as if my screen LEDs were in strobe mode, perhaps a bug conflicting with the outdoor brightness function of the phone. Thanks for the single family purchase option, keep up the great work and thanks for this great resource!

Stopped working—can’t plan route. Using for a few weeks though voice navigation keeps repeating I’ve off the path even when I’m on it. This morning the app stopped working: can’t create a route. Notified the site but they continue sending a canned response. Not a particularly useful or feature rich app. I’ve cancelled my subscription and will look for a better cycle map app.

Incredible app!! But room for improvement. This app is perfect if you’re a cyclist with an Apple Watch. Look no further. Searching for POIs is great — you either scribble or speak. It’s super fast and reliable. The directions are also great. Big arrows for where to turn, and it’s just so nice to be able to glance at your wrist and see what the next step is. The actual navigation also seems to be pretty spot on. A couple times it has taken me a weird way, but it’s mostly great. One thing I’d love to see is increased street name font. The big turn arrows are great, but legibility of the actual street names is tough when you’re moving fast and want to catch it at a quick glance. I’d also love to see ETA. They show you total miles but that’s it. This app is definitely worth it! Excited to see more improvements!

Worked well. I've only had one ride. But this worked well. It's simple. Which is exactly what you need when trying to navigate the streets. No bells and whistles to put you off. I've just moved to France. New town. This app got me out and riding a nice route. Cheers👍👍

You have left the route. Very simplistic app. The map was accurate but the voice controls were not. The first ride it didn’t know where I was and it kept telling me to return to route - for 15 miles! The return trip was better but the voice guidance would tell me to turn after I passed the intersection. Many roads were unnamed roads to the app. I had to rely on voice because the map was too small for me to see all the turns. There isn’t a way to enlarge the map without messing the route. I’ll try the apps interface with google maps tomorrow to see if that is better. I wish I could change the app volume or his voice. Hard to hear. I wish there was a way to listen to the voice before I paid for the service. Big regrets so far.

Unsafe. Main bike path is right outside my door this app used main roads instead. Refund please

Needs Voice Navigation on Apple Watch. Has worked pretty well at finding directions. It needs voice navigation so you don’t have to constantly look at your wrist to get the next turn.

So far, so good. Initial setup went fine. I’ll take my first ride with the app and update with the results.

😀. 😊great

Miserable experience. This app was giving me wrong directions And was very hard to use. I even payed for the upgrade vision from the start big mistake!

Very good app for a cyclist!. Its really useful for me.

Great alone or Apple Watch. I have always liked his standalone app to give me good routing, including trails and other routes that cars can’t take. I just got an Apple Watch, and it worked perfectly with my ride. I tried to trick it by going off course, and every time I did it came up with a new route within 10 to 15 seconds.

The perfect Route Planner. I know this app has cyclists in mind but I actually was looking for an app that could allow me to create a route that avoided busy streets since I am using a 50cc scooter to transport around and where I live drivers aren’t aware of motorcyclists so this gives me the piece of mind I am looking for so I can ride my moped through the backroads without getting lost!

Slow down!! Watch for cyclist.. Turn by turn directions for all your cycle quests.

Pretty good!. Half an hour to plot a 200 mile four day route than I’ve ridden six times. Doesn’t know about the Ozaukee County Interurban bike trail.

Bike trail savvy. Being new to the area, I did not know about extensive trail system. This app helped me rout my ride to work for 20 mile commute. It does take the battery down so much plan to recharge your 5S.

Was skeptical, but now pleased. I read reviews before installing most anything, but I also notice the dates of reviews… there was a lot of legit negative stuff for CycleMaps from years back, so I figured I’d give it a shot—I mean, I’ve already tried so many chiit bicycle navigation apps already, what would be one more? WELL!! Let’s just say I ended up so pleased I bought the lifetime family package. As someone who voluntarily lives without a car, this dedicated visually clean app is just what I need. Thank you devs!

Needs some work. It's nice to have a cycle app that hooks into Maps in iOS 6, but the interface and features are sorely lacking. No overlays of bike lanes, bike friendly streets, or paved off-street bike paths… No way to view alternate routes… No way to have multiple destinations, or calculate routes going past certain points-of-interst (like parks, bike shops, etc). On the interface side, I can appreciate the minimal overlays on the maps, but the info panel just seems like a bunch of buttons thrown on a gray box. Also, on the iPhone4 and iOS 6, I'm not seeing the options for fastest/quietest route types.

The best cycling route planner for Apple Watch.. Used this for all my commutes in nyc. From Astoria to south slope and Manhattan to Jamaica etc. This app will recommend you the best cycling routes in a snap. Not just that, turn by turn directions and map access on your Apple Watch so you don’t have to take your phone out of your pocket to check directions/map. Simply glance at your watch to know if you’re on the right track. If you are looking for an app that provides turn by turn cycling directions on an Apple Watch look no further

Can not figure out how to make routes!!. I have a red and green pin on the map and there’s no way to say go. The “create new route” simply clears the pins :o. Also it would be super fantastic if one could say “start from here” or dropped pin and give me a 15 mile or 25 kilometer route.

Not intuitive. This should be much easier to use. It feels clunky and cheap.

Changed how I ride. Loved this app from the moment I downloaded it! I hate riding with my phone attached to my bike, or having to stop to take my phone out of my bag, I only take my Apple Watch now when I ride with my husband, I can call, text, pay for things and get excellent directions with less of a distraction and am able to enjoy riding much more!

Easy to use while riding. I found it easy to navigate and hopeful to cycle us as opposed to just another version of Waze

Where have the routes gone?. Downloaded this a couple of weeks back and it instantly showed me tonnes of cycle paths which I was completely unaware of. Now though, with your switch to Gmaps, I don't see a single path marked on the map. You seem to have turned a useful app into an implementation of Google Maps with less functionality...

Favorite Cycling App. I've tried many cycling apps and CycleMaps is my favorite. The routes it generates are much better than the others, the phone navigation screen is uncluttered so easy to follow when mounted on a bike, and the map selection and search function are excellent. I live in the mountains so the Terrain map and the elevation charts are invaluable, and saving the maps for offline use means I can still navigate in remote areas. The Apple Watch app is where CycleMaps really stands out. There are two watch views: a large arrow showing your next turn and a map view that can be zoomed in or out. You can easily send a route from the phone to the watch and rely solely on the watch for navigation (with or without voice instructions) or you can use both the phone and watch apps in tandem. It's worth viewing the tutorial (the Help option) and I would plan on spending a few minutes learning the app before starting your first ride. It's easy to use once you understand the interface.

Great app for cycling. Great choice for cycling Solid app, no issues, very reliable and easy to use.

Couple things. Need to double check some routes for appropriateness. Map has taken me on busy streets with narrow emergency lanes and no sidewalk. If I have to go a mile out of the way so be it. I’m alive! Second wish the map would adjust to best route if you go off course. Otherwise, Great!

Doesn’t work without GPS. You shouldn’t need location services to show me a route between two points. I’m capable of typing that in myself. The app does not respect this choice and constantly spams requests for access to location services.

Nice App. Should be more intuitive.. Three stars because this app works better than the usual basic map functions found on the cycling training apps where mapping functions are a second tier after thought. I have several quibbles with the heavy traffic street and route selections in my urban area, but if one is careful with the route planning feature, which is nominally spot on, construction zones, mis-labeled streets and dangerous intersections can easily be avoided. As a retired systems developer, my major beef with this app is the user interface in it’s entirety. I have attempted to use the app as would a normal, semi-technical recreational rider who wants only to set a route from origin to destination, ride the route with several detours and other departures, and then save it to a catalogue for future use and incorporation as part of a larger personal route map overlay. This completely normal expectation should be intuitive from on screen controls and proper on screen prompts and user documentation. I will stick with this app because it is very useful. I am very impressed with the multiple map selection and basic simplicity. Five stars when the onscreen controls, comprehensive user interface and full documentation are completed.

Bike trails not default. This app is meant for cycling. I live in an area with an extensive network of bike trails. I dropped a pin off of a trail in a neighboring city (which is completely reachable by trail only). This app directed me to take a busy avenue. Not worth the money without this feature. I paid for the ad free + Apple Watch bundle. It was not worth the money.

Delivers. In the last update the freecycle button disappeared. Can’t find any way to contact the developers other than writing a review. The email address provided in the app is invalid. Thanks so much for reading the above review and for fixing the bug that caused the freecycle button to disappear. I updated the app and it’s all good now.

Not easy to figure out. I thought I would table to enter a route and see the bike path and hit go for navigation. But I can’t even figure out how to enter a destination. Forget about the more complicated things like modifying destinations or sitting via points Too bad… I really wanted to like this

Great App! Only want to see one improvement. Since this app costs money to download - I would say the only feature I wish it had was the ability to draw your path or route so we could see what we biked if we perhaps didn’t plan a route.

Love this.. I used this three times today for the first time. I never once felt in danger, as the app directed me to roads that weren’t too busy. My only feedback: add pins/dots to the map to significantly bike share docking locations. That would be super helpful.

Ridiculous. They do not offer a clue as to how this app is to be used. I still don’t know ANYTHING about this app!

It would be nice if the did what it said it did. I don’t understand the strategy of saying this app does something when it just doesn’t. I get you want more downloads for the add impressions, but it’s just a frustrating waste of time.

Seems to avoid cycle routes!. Downloaded for Sydney, and amazed at how effectively it seems to AVOID cycle routes! On a map littered with cycle paths and routes, this app will unerringly head straight for the main road. Waste of money

Fabulous routes. Sends us down roads and paths we wouldn’t have found otherwise. Great for avoiding car traffic and traffic lights. Occasionally the off road options are a bit crowded with pedestrian traffic but then it is easy to reroute. Love this app.

Unreliable. Forget this and save you money. I tried it in our local area, if I followed the suggested route I would be cycling twice as far.

So good. This app is really helpful and easy to use

So disappointing. It’s such a shame that this app is unusable because the idea of a dedicated cycling navigation app is such a great one. I even purchased a special bike phone holder so I could navigate on unfamiliar paths using with it. As far as this app is concerned everything about it is fantastic except for one thing. The map redraw rate is so ridiculously slow that the entire app cannot be used. The only reason I haven’t dumped it is that I live in hope that this problem will be fixed in a future update.

Crashes. Downloaded latest update, now cannot open app, just reverts to my home page. Main culprit is in settings, if you attempt to set the app to google maps the only way you can use it is to delete the app and download again. DO Not select google maps.

Rubbish. Slow, crashes, hard to plot, no navigation, struggles to keep up when riding, bike maps just don't load quick enough. This app needs heaps of work...

Seems ok.. Giving it a go.

Generates route ok. Just down loaded and asked some basic directions calculated an accurate and direct route. I'll reserve judgement for when I get home and really can use it.

Not good. Despite the numerous "improvement" this is still very clunky. Nothing is easy or intuitive. Redraw takes forever even on 4G. The new version still only get one star.

Needs to improve a LOT!. Now that Strava has introduced route planning (only currently available online, not within their app), the competition has stepped up the game for everyone else, including Cycle Maps. I've got the paid version because it looked promising and I use routing a lot out on the road and for planning new rides but having tried to use it for a few weeks I've identified some really annoying problems: 1. Once you've built a route, sometimes the app doesn't give you the option to "Ride This" as it does if you load a route from saved routes. I guess that's a bug but the functionality hasn't been thought through as there should be much more control about starting, stopping and pausing routes (a la Strava). 2. The route planning could do with some work. Strava has the benefit of thousands of users so the amount of data Strava can dive into to help build a route along popular bike paths is far better. Cyclemaps does throw up some strange route options but at least tries to stick to established bike paths defined by google. 3. The screen layout, graphics and usability are very 1990's. Thin weedy fonts are used that are very hard to read, graphics and fonts overlap in tacky ways and amazingly, none of the usual iOS layouts/button functionality seems to have been implemented. You do have to press around the screen a bit to select an option as it's only text without any buttons. Perhaps the app is a port from a different OS?

Annoyingly slow. The only things that load quickly are the annoyingly animated advertisements. The map loading is very slow, and route selection is no better than google maps .. which is nice and quick

Good Melbourne coverage. Seems to have good coverage of the bike path network across Melbourne, Australia - including the main yarra, bay and city trails plus on road cycle lanes.

Ok but needs a lot of improvement. The bike path map doesn’t refresh well or almost not at all and I’m on fast wifi. There are plenty of paths missing, even if I compare a 2008 paper cycle map of Toronto. The maps can’t be twist-turned around..

No worth 10$ for the year!. Only shows you one path possible to a destination, and it’s not even the optimal one for bike ride. When you click on “show cycle paths”, only shows you one cycle path in the whole city, which is ridiculous. Developer’s response: “ thank you very much for your feedback. Best regards”. I guess making 10$ a pop for something worse than free google map must still be lucrative for whoever developed this app. If I could give 0 star I would.

Not for use in France. I bought this app to use on the Veloscenie route from Paris to Mont Saint Michel. The British accent of the voice reading street names in French was difficult to understand. I loaded the gps coordinates from the site and received many “off course “ warnings. Google does a better job by warning of an action and then repeating it at the place. I missed many instructions. Yes i admit there were many problems with the descriptions by the tourist bureau. Having a native speaker of French would have been an improvement. I even switched the language of the phone to a French but the app only speaks UK English. Map loading of areas was extremely slow and sometimes just stopped leaving huge blank gaps in the screen. I would like a refund of my $12.99 Can.

Rating. Using on cross Canada trip and it's been invaluable. Been very impressed with its accuracy, with exception of some rails to trails that never got built but are used in winter for snowmobile trails, it hasn't steered us wrong. Like how quickly it keeps up as move, and the ability to drop pins is great! Could have slightly better interface for entering destinations so wouldn't have to go to main page to type on a destination, but minor inconvenience.

Not worth it. Crashes frequently and if trying to plot a route from anywhere other than your current location, constantly reverts to your current location forcing you to search again for the other location. Developer has no website which probably says it all. Not worth even $1.99.

Doesn't work. Poor UI. The app doesn't show any cycling route at all. Don't waste your time on it.

Not worth $9.99. This app is ok but not worth the $9.99 subscription. I really wanted to like this app but it’s too frustrating to use. 1) Once you map a route the street names are all covered so you don’t even know what streets you’ll be riding on. 2)You cannot edit portions of a saved route if let’s say you want to change a part of the route. You have to redo the whole thing. Which can be annoying and time consuming. 3)Also it’s not very intuitive to use. Other apps have tools right on the screen for mapping route and editing routes. Cyclepath would be so worth the subscription if the fix these issues above. Please fix this. I’ve been using this app and another for a few months and I barely use this anymore just because of those frustrating issues above. When I’m on a route I may have to edit on the go and the other app is just seamless but just expensive. BUT if Cyclepath fixed these issues I’d come back and subscribe.

Cross country North America. Great source for planning and tracking our 2 year trek.

Cannot even install. For some reason, I was not able to install the app. freezes at the beginning here I click on the Location and Motion icons (allowing for motion detection and location) I tried three times (iPad 3, v. 15.5)

Good cycling app. I'm not some hardcore cycling fitness nut. I use my bike to go places. And this app makes this much easier. Good Apple Watch integration. Fairly intuitive UI. And good route selection. Overall it's the best cycling app I've found for my needs There are still a few quirky things that could be smoothed out. But nothing that keeps you from using it to plan and navigate cycling routes. If you cycle to different places, this is worth checking out

location is miles off. started app. it locates me several miles away from where I am so it is useless to use.

I am in Vancouver BC and this is a Good app for cyclists. Stays up to date with the new cycle paths in my area

Subscription but no upgrade. I subscribed to the apps service but did none of the premium features were unlocked. Wondering if have been scammed. I emailed the dev to see if they’ll respond. I will post and update if they do. Be ware of scribing.

Très pratique. Pour préparer un parcours en tenant compte des voies cyclable disponibles et vérifier sa position par rapport a celui ci chemin faisant👍

Good app. This is a very good app that would be a great app with two inclusions “allow favorites to be a destination and not a route. Many times I would like to choose a destination that I’ve already cycled to from where I am. Unfortunately I have to set it as a new route. My second suggestion would be to either put a PDF users guide or put more YouTube videos on how to use this application. Overall I like it very much.

Missing vital features. Can't customize route. Can't speak directions.

Neat app...but. This is a good app, but it would be nice to have a written turn by turn option so you can really plan before you go, like for restaurants, lodging, sites, etc. Hope that comes in an update.

Barely functional. Unintuitive interface. Doesn't really plan routes well (or at least provides no overview).

Confused. I live right next to the interurban trail in Everett Washington, it's a 15 or so mile paved trail for walking and biking, basically it's like a bicycle freeway if you want to get through town down all the way to Seattle. I bought this app because I thought it would be cool to see other trails/safer road routes in the area. So far the program just sends you right down highway 99 instead of sending you on any safe route, nobody is going to ride a bicycle from Everett to Seattle Wa. So my question is what does this program have to do with bicycles because to me it's giving the EXACT routes that google does for cars? And how do I get my money back?

Gpod app. Good app only bike navigation app for apple watch

… And I was so hopeful. Looking at many of the other reviews, I was so excited to use this application. However like the other one star reviews, I found myself very frustrated do you actually use the program. For instance I have a fast Internet connection (40Mbps up, 11Mbps down and 17ms Ping) but it is agonizing to wait for a map update on either my iPhone X or 9.7 inch iPad - Zoom out a bit and some of the map page doesn’t ever refresh. Second, don’t expect to find any existing cycle maps, as opposed to other apps. Doing a general search by scanning a map never shows a cycle map and is an agonizingly slow process. I even tried using the app to contact their support but never received a response on an example of a cycle map that I could find using their search feature. Then again, many others seem to have enjoyed this product so good luck and I hope your experience is better than mine.

Great app. A very good app for me with my visual impairment I'm not allowed to drive. However I would say it would be nice if campgrounds were shown on the map. I guess that's an Apple thing.

No better than Google Maps. I was looking for a more bicycle-savvy mapping app than Google Maps beta version. This is apparently not it. I will see about getting the full version, but I need a reason to try it, but haven't seen it yet.

Pointless App. There is no correlation between the features advertised in the App Store and this app. I can't enter Point A to Point B values. This app does not work. I regret my purchase.

Bad App. This was a horrible waste of money. There are no instructions about how it works. The interface stinks. I wasted $2

Good app for biking. I'm a touring biker and an app for the phone that I can use while the phone is mounted on my handlebars is a must. This does it. I have not upgraded (I will) but I've had excellent luck with the basic app. Definitely something to download and try for yourself!

Not even worth $.10..... I bought cycle maps in order to get some cycling maps! Or, new routes in my area. It's just the GPS on my phone. Lame!!!! Yeah, it was 50% off, but getting a piece of crap on sale is no bargain. Please give me my dollar back!

Seems to work!. Just did a bunch of test routes in the seattle area - reliably found the trails! Looking forward to trying out on the road. Been looking for something like this for a long time!

What a joke. I thought this would be useful. Wrong! Google maps works better and is free. Bike routes are not used as far as I can tell. I thought that was the point. Obviously not.

Not what I hoped for.. Does not provide optimal routing for cyclists. Tried to plan a route and it simply highlighted the most direct route on the busiest most dangerous roads (Chicago area). Seems to be totally unaware of any routes with bike trails & lanes. I would NOT buy this App., sadly I already have. Royfill

Doesn't work at all. The app won't work at all

It did nothing. I guess this is just a teaser, a promo. It ran a tutorial and did not allow any map making.

Great support. I still love this app! Had a few issues with the last update, but the developers helped me fix them right away. Problem gone! Best support for a $2 app I have ever seen!

Don't waste your time.. This is just a copy of the map(GPS) app on your phone except... U can do more with the standard preloaded map that came on your phone.
