Bedside EM App Description & Overview
What is bedside em app? START YOUR 30 DAY FREE TRIAL TODAY!
Bedside EM (formerly ERres) is the ORIGINAL emergency medicine app designed for where you need it the most.. at the bedside! First released in 2011, Bedside EM has been consistently ranked as one of the best medical apps worldwide!
Continuously updated, evidence-based and peer reviewed!!
The entire app is searchable and available offline!!
And although Bedside EM was created with emergency medicine providers in mind, it has proven to be a great resource for ANYONE who takes care of acutely ill patients including other doctors, PAs/NPs, nurses, paramedics, EMTs, and students!!
Starting in 2024 I have decided to go ALL IN to ensure Bedside EM continues to be the best emergency medicine app out there. This began with a complete overhaul of the app from the ground up to improve user experience. Some things were added, some things were removed. Many more additions will be coming later in the year. I hope you like it!
I am now in the process of updating the styling for EVERY section within Bedside EM to align with the new layout and support dynamic text and dark mode. This is a very time-consuming process. Thus far I have updated the “pediatric tape” and all of the clinical decision rules, as these tend to be quite popular. The other sections will all be updated over the next few months. Once that is completed, the plan is to go back and UPDATE EVERY SECTION with the latest evidence-based medicine recommendations before then adding some brand new stuff. Exciting times!!!

Very good.. I wish that there was a list of needed info/write-ups so that those of us at other locations could help out by sharing databases and write-ups that we have developed in isolation.
The new upgrade is lacking. I have been using this app since I was a resident and it was amazing. The new upgrade is trash. Missing the dental portion. I don’t like the new structure.
Use it every shift. Great app, lots of useful information at my fingertips. Saved me more then once. Keep the improvements coming. Thanks for solid work!!
Dr. This app is amazing, not to mention that its really EM oriented. Great app thanks to the developers
Great!!. This is a must have for anyone working in emergency services. The information is not only easy to get to and understand, but it is relevant. I'm a paramedic of 8 years and this is extremely useful to have for an information backup. Great job! Awesome app! One of the most useful I have found!
Handy app!. Useful, easy to navigate, quick for even the busiest ED. Graphics & flow have improved a lot over updates. Links to top notch blogs are super helpful too! (Should link to Wash U journal club site at emjclub too, wink wink ;)
Improvements. Need to add a settings button to enlarge the print
Solid free emergency app. As someone who does this for a living, I say this app is great. The comment by ALS-reader is annoying and unreasonable. I can't stand people who give a hard time to developers that put out good free apps. This app contains enough content to be useful. Don't be a hater just because you can be one.
Very effective app .. I m using this App in ER . It nice and handy . I want the developer to keep it updated and add new stuff .
Not impressed. I found this app to be lacking in content...or should I say it has an odd assortment of content. In the emergency setting you need rapid access to pertinent information. Spend a little money and get a critical care pocket guide (available for your iOS device). It might sound nit picky, but the content needs to stay oriented in the same direction, not bouncing from portrait to landscape.
Outstanding!. Love da app! The best things in life are free. Wow! I know this app was for da use of residents, but it is also very useful for paramedics. I've emailed all my co-workers, paramedic students & EMT's about this great app. SO much info all in 1 place. Looking forward to the updates! Outstanding job!
Great Work!. An excellent beginning to an app that can only get better with time. There is some excellent information in this app for ED residents, attendings, ED RNs, & mid-level practitioners. I am an ED nurse, with 12+ years of experience working in a Level I Trauma Center and I am also now a NP student. So, I can speak from experience and definitely say that I find this to be a well-thought out app. It is useful, practical & provides so much education - for FREE! Can't go wrong. I am anxious for the missing parts to be fixed/finished/updated, however. Great work, guys! Keep it up! I plan to show this to my colleagues for their use.
Back in the game. Excellent app is back in business now with more Bundt cakian wonderfulness!
Great app. I am currently starting medic school and work full time on a 911 ambulance as an EMT -I and this app is great! It's free and is full of really great info! Easy to navigate as well! Thanks!!
Wow!. I've had this app for a while but just now went through it thoroughly. I'm very impressed! I love it and will never work a shift in the ED without it.
Physician Assistant. This app has a surprisingly large amount of information. It is well organized, user-friendly, and references are cited throughout. I have tried multiple emergency medicine apps and this is by far the most helpful and exhaustive.
Lost notes and bookmarks since update.. I used to love this app, and frequently referenced it on shift. However, ever since the update, I have lost all of my bookmarks and notes that I have written. Some of the categories I simply cannot find anymore since it was re-organized. Mostly, it is very upsetting to have lost my personalized clinical notes that I have accumulated over the past 2 1/2 years.
Best emergency med app so far!. Best emergency medicine app I've found so far! Love the latest updates, keep them coming!
Great mini reference. It's not extremely comprehensive as it is mostly algorithm based, but it makes for a very easy-to-read and find type Interface. Now lose the ad banner and you'll have five stars
Great app. Thank you to the people that put this app together. It is very well thought out, concise, and well organized. Highly recommend for residents. I still use this frequently as an attending as a quick and easily accessible reference.
A must have!. Great app for EM
Well done. This pretty cool. Every intern and med student can use this. A lot of highly pimped info here... Hoping it will get better soon...
Essential. Great app to have for any ED provider - docs, PAs, residents. Easy to use and can quickly look up the salient points on most ED topics. Even better with the recent update. I use this usually at least once per shift.
Outstanding update!. Great evolution of this app! Can't wait to start using it again. I can now recommend it to my colleagues not just residents. Keep it updated. It's one of the most useful bedside EM apps and I rarely use apps on the job anymore.
Wow. This is my new #1 go to app. Over the past 2 years I have made several quick reference lists with all the stuff that I found missing from other apps, but I don't need EM anymore. This one has everything in one place with a superior user interface and the best search ability by far! You'll be able to quickly find everything from drip rates to PALS algorithms within second with minimal hunting and scrolling. Also, everything in the app has the references/sources footnoted at the bottom of the page so you can easily quote or double check where you're getting your information. This is the app to rule them all!
Great app. This was a great app prior to the update but it is even better now. Has an incredible amount of content while excluding useless info. Also it is well organized so that information can be referenced quickly and, so that it is not overwhelming to the user.
Wonderful app. My experience lies in Para-medicine (9 years) and recently in nursing (class under my belt and waiting to test). With that in mind I found the information on this FREE app very useful. I jumped around a bit, looking to see what FREE will get you these days. The answer, plenty. Give it a look. I think you'll agree.
Best ED app yet. Great app with tons of applicable evidence based ED information at your fingertips. Anyone in ED critical care needs this app for reference. Great design and super user- friendly.
Great app. This is a great app. There is a lot of good information crammed into this app. In addition to ER doctors this app is very good for Paramedics and EMT's. One of the best things about this app us that it is free, thank you for not being greedy.
Needs a few tweaks but solid. It gets three stars from me and I feel I'm being generous given the obnoxious self promotion within the app & the strange quirk of the EKG illustrations being covered by the back task bar.
Get it. I have been using this for years, heard about it at one of the ACEP conferences. I typically use the decision rules which I feel that alone is worth the app let alone all the other bells and whistles which are great. My entire group uses it
Great for any provider. I'm a paramedic and I found this app great!!! It's good for quick reviews as most of the info applies to pre hospital care as well as in hospital care. Great job!!! Thank you. Simple and to the point!!!!! I will recommend this app to other providers
Great Tool. Easy to use. Great useful information quick. Makes a difference at the bedside.
OUTSTANDING quick reference. Working in the ED requires rapid response and decision making. This app is a tremendous resource, easy to use, and thus far found to be very helpful. Bravo Zulu to the developers. RES PA-C
Simple and effective. Like any good medication, intervention, decision rule, or study simple and effective are the most effective. This app is straight-forward and has some of the most commonly-used and referenced items in the ED. While geared towards residents and students, I find useful stuff in this app all the time. It is not intended to be an all-encompassing reference nor does it pretend to be. Great for what it is -- a quick and easy to use reference.
Unbelievable. If there was one medical app in regards to pertinent medical information that is easy to access and organized to perfection, it is this one. Bravo.
Accurate and useful. Best ER application for me as is evidence based and efficient.. Needs more categories and a notes section so we can add to the ideas
Excellent guide. Nice guide which is easy to navigate compared to others out there.
Needs A LOT more info. So I bought this app because I needed a good toxicology application. It is good don't take me wrong, it's just incomplete ... What good is an app if I constantly need to use other apps because the developer did not bother to add enough info? Comparing to similar apps in other regions this is worth 1 dollar and I'm being generous! It is good if you have money to waste and live in the 90s when the medical knowledge was still limited. Unless you add a lot more info this review will remain 1 star.
ER RES. Great easy to read and for the most part, very up to date. There are some changes, and my one request would be to have an "update" option to get the newest information as it becomes available. Overall, great app!
RN. Excellent app!! I downloaded it quite a while ago and mostly used the generic $4 lists, but the updates are fantastic! This app has pretty much anything you need!!
Amazing. I am doing an away rotation at HCMC in the twin cities. Im a 4th year med student. This app is excellent, the only thing I dont like is that I did not find it sooner!!! Its high yield, important info, especially like all the clinical predictors scores that are hard to memorize and often asked about!!!
Amateurish. Despite the updates, this app still leaves much to be desired. Its limited content barely scratches the surface of common pathology seen in the ED and its overall design is not user friendly (not to mention the feces colored background). You have to know exactly what section information is located in and then you have to view the entire section to hunt for the one isolated piece of data you were looking for. It is a good attempt, but I would look elsewhere for a solid professional reference.
Excellent POC reference. This app cuts to the chase with a simple and clear interface allowing for rapid reference in high-pressure settings. Excellent for busy urban ED settings!
Great!. Important clinical info in a quickly available format (which is important!)
4th year student/intern-to-be. I downloaded this during one of its earlier iteration and it was good then, but as a result of all the updates and response to feedback, it's gotten even better. It's on the very front screen of my iPhone since I use it that much. Absolute must-download for anyone in EM.
Great Resource. Just had another resident download this app. It is so useful and easy to use!
Excellent app. This app is great. I've used it often throughout my residency and has especially come in handy during codes.
worth it.. useful and quick information. I just rediscovered this app on my iphone and wish I had been using it.
Great resource!. This app is a wonderful resource! I love it and I use it every time I work!

Basic. This app boasts many specialty categories but only contains a sparse selection of random topics within each category. These topics are usually embarrassingly populated with simple information. For example, the ophthalmology section has a page on 'Acute glaucoma', a diagram on extraocular muscles and a picture of the visual pathway. I like the layout but This app needs major working On before you can charge $4.49 for it.

Great for emergency. Good references Well display and rapid acces Became an everyday consultation tools
Fabulous ER app. Great job
Great resource. I am an internal medicine resident, but this app covers many of my often-sought algorithms and tables in a nicely organized manner. I also appreciate the integration with evidence based sources. Some sections look a little bare at the moment but i guess its early. Looking forward to future additions to the app!
Fantastic!. Fantastic go-to summary app for emergency medicine residents! Contains many useful algorithms, doses and clinical decision rules. Great for teaching junior learners too! One stop shop for most of the important EM guidelines. Well done, keep it up!
Loved it. Very helpful
Favourite EM app. This is my go-to EM app. The information is easy to find and very relevant. Definitely recommended.
High Yield. Awesome app - easy to use and navigate

Best ED app anywhere anytime. Fabulous app. Comprehensive information, clearly organized, user friendly. Intuitive. I am an MD. If you work anywhere NEAR an ED get this app. I'm an anesthesiologist and I still find it useful at times. Great app. The best.
Awesome app. Such relevant info.. Great resource as I start my EM residency.
Top notch. Best medical app out there... and EM:RAP's Michelle Lin (10/4/14 episode) agrees!
Awesome!. I use it everyday!

Great med. app!. Very useful app for the ER setting. Keeps getting better with each update.
Spectacular!. Absolutely the best EM app that I have used! Love it! Well organized too.
Best app ever. This is an awesome app for quick, uptodate info for any medical student or resident. Will keep it on my phone as an attending.
Super app. MS4 going into EM. Wonderful app. Cheers!
Awesome app!. Better than many paid apps.
Thanks!. Thanks for the great app!
Not working. I've tried to use the app numerous times but it crashes every time. I haven't been able to use it once.
App doesn. Everytime I download the app it doesn't work. I try to open up a subject and it just closes automatically. I've downloaded it 4 times. I now give up.
Great app. Very informative and great reference tool.
Nursingstudent. I'm in ccu rotation. This app is incredible. Thanks.
Please support french language. This app is awesome but I wish it could support for french language. Thanks.
Review. Absolute waste of money
Great App. One of my favorite apps to date!!!!
Not a physician tool. Pretty basic - good for an EMT or student doc/nurse.
Great medical app!. Great quick reference that I used throughout PA school and highly recommend!
By far the best medical app. This is by far the best medical app I've ever downloaded! Get it while its 3.99!
