A couple steps backwards. First, while I understand the decision to go to espn+ for live games, it would have been nice if they could have at least integrated your espn+ subscription into the app. Second, the highlights and even the articles take forever to load. Glitches and crashes are a lot more frequent. Disappointing especially because MLS has consistently had one of the best league apps, and it usually got a little better each year. This is a few steps backwards.

Great but the ads…. I have to start off with saying that this app is great for keeping up with MLS news, MLS games, and keeping track with your favorite team. But there is just a major pain with the ads. Usually the ads are short and sometimes entertaining. But now SeatGeek has a stupid ad taking over and now there are 30 second ads for a freaking car. No one cares about Lexus and the SeatGeek ad almost got my phone confiscated in school. SeatGeek needs better ideas while 30 second ads aren’t short. Please fix these and keep ONLY 15 second ads, or better yet, no ads.

Ticketmaster technological link to the D.C. United Application bugs and fixes. There is a bug where tickets put up for sale in Ticketmaster through the D.C. United Application sometimes aren’t able to be recalled back to the application without customer support. This hinders two processes: 1) Those that want to recall their tickets and attend the game(s). 2) The process of selling the tickets back to the D.C. application from Ticketmaster so they can be resold to other D.C. United attendees, which is bad both for D.C. United (through lost business from those that would attend and who may spend money at the stadium) and the customers (supporters) who bought the original tickets lose their money. In short, the link between DC United to Ticketmaster works, however Ticketmaster back into the D.C. United app has bugs receiving either the unsold or wanted tickets. Fixing this bug would make the D.C. United App more functional, which is good for the D.C. United in economic efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction. Regardless, I rate the app 5 stars for going above and beyond the needs of creating such an application with limited time. Thank you. -A longtime, lifetime supporter

Firestick app is a disappointing.. 1) firestick app is garbage. It’s like they don’t even care. Moreover, the firestick app has the potential to be really good and filled with great mls content but they don’t care. 2) the app on your phone is crap. I don’t care about reading about the latest highlights and transfers and goals. I can do that on a dozen other websites. 3) give me updated video content, videos that will actually play and the latest episodes of ETR radio for god sakes. You don’t even charge people to watch this show.

App needs access to my local network and won’t function without permission. I used to enjoy this app. After upgrading my phone I went to open the app for the first time on the new phone and it asked for permission to access my local network. There is no clear reason for this access so I denied it, and the app subsequently will not function at all—it just stays at the loading screen with the MLS logo forever. Very disappointing, I guess I won’t be using this app anymore until they change this.

Terrible Update with fewer functions and bad design. Boxscores gone. 5-minute possession stats gone. Takes longer to load. Lineup doesn’t fit on screen, either side to side or top to bottom. Click on a game and the menu for Lineup, highlights, etc appears on bottom of screen; when you select any one of them the same menu jumps to the top of the screen. Then it keeps jumping back to the recap. You also cannot cast to Chrome or AirPlay. Only positive is the full standings are now available with home/away splits etc. Thank you for that, but it does not make up for all the other flaws.

Gets the job done, but with extra steps. I enjoy following my local team, but several other teams to. It’s frustrating that for the last few weeks whenever I open the app it presents me with multi screen quiz about how I want my content customized. Can’t it remember that I don’t want to login and I don’t want a one team featured. Still shows scores and highlights but these extra steps make me wanna open the app less often.

Trying to be the wrong thing. Be the league app.. The MLS app fields in the primary role that the league app should fulfill: providing the schedule upcoming games and scores and standings. That isn't easily available you find it under the other menu items we in the bottom corner. Instead with this app does is try to be ESPN. Front and center in this app is nonsense like the latest stories from the media and videos and that's not why anybody uses the MLS app that's what ESPN or local news apps are for the league app should be about the teams in the league of the standings the schedule that's what the league is about.

Needs serious work. This app is buggy. Plagued by glitches. First time I load it, it quits on me, Every time. Doesn‘t respond to the orientation of my iPad. Highlight videos don‘t load. Or if they do, they freeze or the sound keeps playing even after I‘ve moved back to the Home Screen. And in the schedule of matches, the text that details on which channel a match is being shown is tiny and in light gray so as to be unreadable. Would be a great if it worked well.

Absolutely dreadful update. The 9.x rewrite is a huge step backwards, and is basically useless. Everything is slow to load, but that’s fine, I guess, because the app is so totally counterintuitive that you can’t find anything to load. Want to see the upcoming schedule? Look under “scores” — because that makes sense as a place to look for games that haven’t happened yet. Pretty much all content is under “latest” — which isn’t searchable and heavily favors videos over written content. Even those are not in fact the “latest”. They may be days old. Matchcenter has been neutered and is now pointless. But at least it takes up a lot of space. On the iPad, the video starts in not full screen, but is, nonetheless, the only thing on the screen. Why? And contrast — have your designers heard of it? Dark grey on black text? I didn’t even realize tabs were there for a week because they are almost indistinguishable from the background. One has to wonder if they even did user testing — it seems unlikely.

Revamp is not as usable. It seems the “hide scores” feature is gone. Since MLS Live is gone as well and moved to the immature ESPN+ platform, there is less reason for me to access this app. When I attempted to use it again today, I chose one article about my favorite team (which shadows out all other news) and the latest Power Rankings (which was rather difficult to find). Both articles showed no text but one showed it briefly. To where I could see that something had been written there. For me, these are the features I used the app for: MLS Live, schedules with “hide scores”, and power rankings. The app is unusable for me. I will wait a month before deleting it.

Won’t Open. I have been using this app almost since it first came out. Starting a month or so ago, I could not open it on either my iPad Pro or my iPhone 8+. Not today I have waited patiently for over five minutes while the little MLS trademark appears and disappears repeatedly on my screen. It never gave any indication that anything more was going on. In spite of recent updates, the situation still exists. I have the most recent iOS updates installed on both my devices. Now, if I want to follow any MLS action, I have to Google it. I will be looking for other apps to replace the MLS app.

Was pretty great. Update makes it almost unusable.. I was a daily user of this app. Schedules, features, highlights, team news, all easy to find and use. Since the update I often try to use the app, but end up in chrome instead because what I want just will not load, or won't stay open, or just doesn't exist anymore. Today I just wanted the tv schedule for the playoff weekend. But I can only find the schedule for my favorite team. Highlights are annoying to navigate to. Requiring several attempts. Videos rarely load when requested. And when it finally does load it's very tiny and requires another half dozen tries to make full screen. Please revert or try again. This is not good software.

1 problem. Great app, but I’m having one problem and I don’t know if it’s my phone or just the app. When I click fantasy it brings me to a white screen that says “logging in to fantasy”. So, I thought it was normal and waited until it logged me in. But it ever did. It stayed on that screen for a long time and it still won’t go away. The mls season starts soon and I want to play fantasy so please help.

All the content, but can’t remember what I want.. I like the way it set up with my headlines in the front and the ability to navigate to other things pretty easy. My main complaint is that after a few days it forgets all of my preferences. Then every time I open the app back up I have to select my favorite team, if I want international updates and then updates about my team to my email or whatever else. I then have to uninstall the app and download it again. It’ll work well for about a week, then it starts all over again.

Disappointing Redesign. I have been using the app since it first came out, and I loved all of it. Information was easy to find, game lineups posted as soon as they were given (before announced in stadium). The new design is fancier and prettier but far, far less useful. Some areas are far too touch sensitive - you accidentally open stories when you just try to scroll thru - or not nearly sensitive enough. Some areas are very difficult to open at times. For design, the redesign gets an A, for utility and ease of use, a D+. For those lamenting about blackouts, it’s the broadcast rules. The games are controlled by the broadcasters (and that includes your local affiliate) for a period (usually 48 hours). That gives them the right to replay if they want. The reason local games are blacked out is because someone has paid for the right to broadcast and they deserve to get their money’s worth. With MLS Live (I can’t speak to ESPN+ because I haven’t tried it yet) I have never found a game I couldn’t watch or rewatch after the 48 hour window, even with my local team.

Ruined a Good Thing. I use the MLS app every week to watch game highlights. The most recent update can only be described with the word atrocious (and every single synonym relating to the word atrocious). It’s as if they fired their entire IT staff and hired middle-schoolers to design this new update. The app has font the same color as the background and is virtually impossible to see. The media player has no exit button so when your highlights end you have to exit out of the app and launch it again to get to another video. When I press the maximize/minimize icon in the media player it rotates my screen! I could go on and on. If you haven’t updated your app in a while, don’t! Just keep using the old version. Complete amateur hour.

IPad Version Terrible. UPDATE: Latest update still has not corrected issue of stories on iPad crashing or going to black non-playable/non-closing video screen when wanting to read stories with imbedded videos. I would laugh if it wasn’t so sad you all cannot seem to fix this issue or listen to your multiple reviewers who have complained about the same issue. Good grief! This app works good on my iPhone but absolutely terrible on my iPad. Stories won’t open and if they do, a black video screen suddenly pops open and the app freezes. I simply cannot believe your app technicians are this bad at their job. This has been going on for months. Come on this is grade school stuff! SMH…

The MLS App is Not Worth It. Use the ESPN App.. The MLS app has slowly become worse and worse. After the redesign, we lost major features. Since then more bugs seems to appear every patch. Being that it is the official App of MLS it is crazy to even see Chicago’s crest still not update with the new one from July 2021. -Too frequently links in the highlights navigate to the wrong games. -Sometimes highlights are not even posted. -The amount of crashes are frustrating. -The lineups are usually wrong formations or players -Accessibility to click on players names in the lineup to see their stats and bio still has not been enabled since the previous version. -the content does not reflect the MLS website quickly enough or the article never get posted -Team home pages frequently do not update with the recent news articles seen on the MLS website. I have uninstalled the MLS app and now use ESPN. The current build is a bad UI and has always been buggy and there have been no improvements.

Very buggy. I’m giving 3 stars because I love MLS and I want this app to the app it deserves to be. But lately it has become a terrible mess of bugs on the iPad. Opening the app always takes two tries, as the first will freeze on the loading screen and eventually crash. Also, lately, trying to read anything on the site for the first time, the article will freeze from scrolling and then load an empty full screen video that takes from 5 to 15 clicks on the cancel button to get it to close. After that, you’re able to scroll the article again.

Can’t get notifications for Rapids. No matter how many times I update my notification settings for the Colorado Rapids within the app, it reverts back to zero. I’ve already deleted the app and tried again. Same bug. Let me know if it gets fixed and I’ll re-download the app.

MLS Fantasy Has Needed Bug Fixes for Years. The app has always been slow and glitchy, but the most aggravating of these issues is with MLS Fantasy. Oftentimes you can make your entire team and as soon as you hit “save team” it erases all of your progress and makes you start over. Also, sometimes when I select my captain, it glitches and goes back to a random player as captain. Even the website erases my progress or crashes when setting the team. Extremely disappointing and makes me not want to play the game at all.

Broken and buggy. So many things are broken or buggy. Endless loop spinning when trying to log in with Facebook, hide scores in settings wasn’t triggering on and kept switching back to off, video playback is a mess and doesn’t start video unless you move the buffer around, logged in with Apple ID, but every time I open the app MLS keeps wanting me to go through the account creation routine of picking your team/topics/notifications etc… There are more but whatever man, it’s never going to be fixed anyways. When the app works it isn’t terrible, but 50% of it (100% of the useful content) is either broken or just a complete mess.

Poor new design with low usability. This year’s app design stinks. It takes twice as many clicks to do what you used to be able to do in the old app. Plus, the buttons are poorly designed. It is easy to click the wrong thing or have trouble opening something. For example, when watching a video you get a thumbnail video by default, which of course no one wants, so you have to click the tiny expand button. But if you miss you have to click it again. Also when expanding the video it displays wrong for a few seconds. Basically, they lost functionality with the app redesign. They should ditch this version, fire the company that developed it, and develop one with usability testing as part of the process. The only reason I still use this app is for the content.

Latest Update Leaves tvOS App Inoperable!. When opening the MLS Live app on Apple TV, it simply displays a screen saying that MLS Live games and coverage is now available on ESPN app with ESPN+. But that’s not what the entire MLS app is or was about. It also had game highlights, scores, schedules, standings, news, and more. I really miss using the tvOS app. Is this intentional? Is the MLS dropping support for its own official native Apple TV app? If that’s not the case (and I’m hoping it isn’t...), please issue an update to resolve said issues. Because currently, I can’t use the app at all. It simply doesn’t do anything other than display the aforementioned message to go to ESPN. it doesn’t even have more than 1 screen UI. PLEASE PLEASE fix this! Thank you!

Clips Great but issues all over. The premise of the app is great. Lots of clips and viewing of the big moments of the games. But the user experience isn’t great. There is a 15-30 second ad before EVERY SINGLE video. And sometimes it likes to just skip to the next video even though you selected the one you wanted to watch so you spend 60 seconds watching Ads. I would honestly not support the brands who decide to advertise on here out of spite, it’s that annoying. Also the 4 and 15 minute highlights are spotty. Plus there are constantly glitches and the screen says “oops, we got megged” cute, but fixing the issue would be better. Could be a 4-5 star app if they focused on the user and less on the ad dollars.

Must have MLS and USMNT app!. The MLS app is a must have for all MLS and USMNT fans! You pick your favorite teams, players, create a fantasy team in the app and can even purchase tickets from the app. You see the whole mls and usmnt schedule and you can customize the app any way you would like. It tells you stats, tv broadcasters, kickoff times and has table standings.

Another failed launch.. For some reason, every year MLS decides to launch a new version of their app just as the season begins. And every year the new version is extremely buggy and almost unusable for things that worked perfect in the previous version. Do NoT update the app yet. If history repeats itself, MLS will get a couple of additional updates out over the next month or two and get all the kinks worked out to “perfection” again. Until then, stick with the version from last year, if possible.

Great but needs mls live. I prefer the old app better. Yes the new app is “polished” and is all tech now but the old app gave us all mls games for free. Now there’s espn+ and we have to pay for all the games and let’s face it, no one’s going to pay. Last year no one watched mls games because they had to pay. This year they changed that and more people were watching it was great. Now they did it to us again. Viewership will go down because no one is paying. Just give us the games for free!

Ok, but needs some work. The content is great, but the app itself has some issues. My first complaint is that the navigation is less intuitive than past designs. I’d prefer to open into a feed of headlines and then navigate to highlights or team headlines. Instead all three feeds are crammed into the home page. My second complaint is worse although it doesn’t sound like many other people experience this: the audio doesn’t play through my phone’s speakers. Headphones or external speakers are fine. All of my other apps are fine. I’ve racked my brain trying to figure out why this app misbehaves but I can’t figure it out. I’d give it four stars if the audio bug was fixed and the design was tweaked a bit. I’d give it five if there was some search capability on the news feed.

Some Basic Features Still Missing. Some weeks they are on top and updating in real time, others weeks it takes days. The MLS Fantasy feature is a joke. Looking at stats are extremely difficult when it could be so simple with customizable fields and settings selection by a user. The stats are good but are overly complicated to review side by side. There is no key for all their abbreviations which could be a real turn off for those new to soccer and I would think making new fans less likely to download and interact with. MLS Live: Seriously Garber with your insane television black outs either this price needs to come down, or those who are season ticket members for any/all clubs should at the very least get replay ability on their games free or offer a sizeable discount for a full subscription. You have a monopoly on all phases of MLS and I am not sure how much you expect us to pay for League wide interest when it's already making homophobes like Anschutz richer with secret deals while promoting an MLS motto of "Don't Cross The Line" Needs to be reformatted for iPhone X. And where did the Apple Watch app go? 😔. So much for checking the scores on the go.

Could use work, some bugs. I’ll keep using this app, but it seems as though the “fantasy” portion could be separated into a whole other app. Not being able to view opposing teams after the week is done is frustrating. They show up as question marks. Would be nice to see that information. The fantasy portion could be cleaned up a bit. It’s not intuitive as how to sub players in/out. Much easier on a computer. Glad the information is available but more improvements are needed.

User un-friendly. The latest “update” is awful! It’s too flashy with so much going on that it takes away from actually using the app. Did anyone even ask the users what they liked best before changing everything? Because my favorite tab (Boxscore) is gone. I can no longer tell at a quick glance who scored and when, or who got a card and when and for what reason. I don’t even know where to find the most basic information and don’t have time to scroll through a long timeline to get there. And what about the “Watch now” feature that connected with MLS Live? It’s frustrating and I hope it changes back soon.

A bit glitchy. Good app, except that it wants me to “personalize” it every time I open the app. It forgets that I’m already logged into the app and always ask me the same set-up questions every single time! Logging out and signing back into it doesn’t keep it from happening either. Fix it please, for mine and everybody else’s sanity. Update: after writing this, it stopped doing what I had previously mentioned. Maybe it wanted me to rate the app? Really strange.

Update is garbage. I have used this app for years and, while glitchy, it did its job. Since the last update, form has trumped function entirely. While it's much prettier, it's also much less useful. Harder to get the latest news, harder to get game info (what happened to the boxscore?), and just generally much less usable. News is now "filtered", so I'm hearing about MLS news from foreign sites before I get it through MLS' own app. It no longer provides the info that I have relied on this app for. One small plus: the video playback seems better - if you happen to get lucky and find the video you actually wanted to watch.

Blackouts, freezing and completely being dropped. This is my second +? Review. I can not open the MLS app because it states a update is required but I can not find a update when I look for the update?! So what does one do when your locked out because a update is needed but there is no update waiting at the App Store? My rating of one star is there for a reason. Terrible upgrade! If a video is played and I try to go anywhere else on the app I receive a black screen I have to close the app and restart to see any content. I am often confronted with freezes and have to restart also when I try to access a module within a article I will get dropped completely from the app!? Old system of organization was much better as well. This app continues to be the worst sports app I use. I can not start to watch a video without the app closing completely?! I can not begin to read an article walk away for minute return to continue as soon as I open the page the app restarts and takes me back to the home site?! Terrible app.

Does not work with iPads. I have three iPads in my family and this app does not work correctly on any of them. Sometimes it will open and then immediately close. If it does stay open, when you click on an article, it will open that article and then allow you to scroll for a short amount before freezing. It will then display a black screen that looks like it is showing a video, but there is no video and it then freezes. Please fix this app for the iPad.

Bring back the old app!. The latest major app update is a joke. It’s super glitchy and hard to navigate around. Trying to find all the content I was used to having is a nightmare. The fantasy feature is a joke. Loading it in a browser is just as good if not better. Bring back the old app! I’ll be switching to the ESPN app until major improvements are made. Another big joke from MLS... the refs are a joke, the inconsistent use of AR is a joke, their obviously love for high profile teams is a joke, and now this app is a joke. I really shouldn’t be surprised...

Good app that needs improvements. Some things I would like to see with the MLS app, is better consistency across desktop, mobile and AppleTV. I'd like more explanation as to why games are or are not viewable as a subscriber. The schedule screen does not always show the times and dates of matches. And you shouldn't have to have a Wi-Fi connection to see standings or scores-that's ridiculous. New version is a massive step backward. Standings no longer are one page and dont clearly show the teams above the line and below. Typical overactive UI change for no clear reason other than trying to look new

Slow to load news.. 2016 version This is a great way to keep track of MLS news, team updates, and alerts; but I've found it to be frustratingly slow to load it's pages. There have been many times when I've closed the app and gone to a web browser instead, bypassing the apps purpose. 2017 Update The new app is worse than the 2016 version. Numerous alerts that don't respond and don't exist on the app. This needs a major update to be even marginally useful. Will be turning off the annoying alerts until fixed. A very sad start to the 2017 MLS season. 2018 - Another broken/useless Update It took them almost a year to fix last year's version. Now that they got it working, mostly, they toss it and start from scratch. This version crashes more than Wile E. Coyote. Then, when you get it to start up, the articles won't load. I'm getting tired of watching the blinking MLS logo while the article doesn't appear, then finally the app crashes and I have to start over again. As usual, it's easier to just go to the website and ignore this annoying app.

Huge fan of MLS… HATE your app. Listen. This has nothing to do with the “content” or the league. Everything to do with how much money and effort you put into your app. We have ONE “major” league soccer that doesn’t get the respect it deserves from the main stream sports media the least you could do is actually care about your fans enough to make a quality app. It crashes. Has bugs constantly. No option to NOT sign in permanently. Highlights miss key points in game. Highlights missing. Lousy UI. take us super fans seriously and PUMP SOME SERIOUS MONEY AND EFFORT INTO THE APP!

Recommendations, Accessibility. As a blind user of sports apps, this is not my favorite. It is workable but the access could be better. It appears many of the things you click on are more image based and it is not clear if there is an accessible button or link there or not without just blindly trying and hoping it works. I would also ask that the cap on alerts be lifted. You cannot select updates about the start and end of all games for all teams, because when you choose a team as a topic, the app immediately assigns game start/finish, team news and team goals scored as a package of 3 alerts. So you have to go in and remove two of those three alerts to get down to one, so you can then add more teams. At minimum, I'd like to be able to get a game start/end status for each team and team news alerts. As currently designed, I have game start/'finish for each team, then news, lineups and goals scored at the league wide level.

Major update is a major let down. This new redesigned app is a huge step in wrong direction. There is no way to hide scores so you can’t use the app and avoid spoiling results around the league. A lot of content from previous versions like box scores and the statistics and charts seem fine. It’s cool they’ve retained the condensed games of the old mlslive app but there is no way to start one without already knowing the score so it’s much less enjoyable. Do this app looks shiny but is worse then ever. Lots of bugs to loading content. Pretty pathetic effort. Hopefully subsequent updates will get it to where it should have been before it was released.

Consistently Underperforms. The MLS app is the most frustrating app on my iPad. Just updated and went to read an article with 4 different attempts. When I scrolled down as I was reading, I was taken into a media player that had no content and wouldn’t let me escape. Closed down app, and repeated. And repeated. And repeated. These problems are just a different variety of the issues with the prior version. Too often had to shut app down and re-open to be able to get to a different article. It shouldn’t be that hard to get a decent performing app out there. You want to be major league? You need an app that at least works. Too many problems for too long.

Out the door far too early. They obviously rushed to launch this new version, and it shows. It looks attractive and may still have potential, but there are so many problems: the navigation is confusing, it crashes frequently, has serious navigation issues, takes forever to load new content, lacks AirPlay and Chromecast support, requires me to watch ads constantly, ugh. It’s a completely frustrating experience. Want an example? I was playing a video, mirrored my screen to watch on my Apple TV. When I was done, the app’s navigation controls were gone. Had to force quit the app and relaunch to get back to the home screen. These types of issues just demonstrate a complete lack of quality assurance. It’s disappointing, but like others, I’ll have to rely on other sources until MLS gets its act together.

Works fine, still needs a few tweaks. All gets the job done, but still crashes randomly when looking at the scores, this has been an issue for years through several updates. Also still really want them to add a feature allowing you to look at player details and stats by selecting that player in the lineup graphic, this is what OneFootball does and it’s a great quality of life feature I’d love to see here.

Content good, too many persistent glitches make app I useable. I’ve used various iterations of this app for many years and while I’ve appreciated the content, the quality control has been plagued by frustratingly persistent problems for the past few years. Updates don’t seem to fix the many glitches, either. Instead the user gets annoying and constant “megged” messages as the app crashes and requires restarts. All I really want is to get some latest news on my team (Go Union!), check scores, and keep tabs on the table. Please, MLS, fire the people at the top who are running this hot mess and get it right. We shouldn’t be using Google to get the basic information we want but I feel like you leave us no choice, so I’ve deleted the app and will wait until next season to try again. You must be turning off scores of potential users and fans because of the remarkably poor quality of your app.

Watching videos in this app is not enjoyable. The app is slow and chunky, and watching video highlights is a disaster. No matter what highlight you click on, whether it’s a goal or a card, the media player always forces you to watch the full match highlights instead. You have to click it two or three times to get the video you actually want. On top of that, the media player forced you to watch an unskippable 15-30 second ad before EVERY VIDEO, even if it’s only a 30 second highlight. Watching highlights/videos in this app is not an enjoyable experience

Game Schedules?. Pop one the app, check the weekend schedule and network they are airing on.... nope . Easier to google it then trying to find it on this app at least if you are logged in... maybe try logging out so it doesn’t apply any filters... who knows, reminded me of why I don’t use this app. You would think it would be one of the first things you could get to and be intuitive. There is a bug in iPhone version, crashes if you try to select too many teams to follow .... just FYI to devs, it is reproducible consistently. Just not useful app unless your looking for MLS standings and articles, but the UI design is aesthetically nice and very professional.

Buggy, hard to read, confusing interface. What did you guys do? Currently the Apple TV app doesn't show highlights and now the iPad app was updated to this? First the font color on the game recaps...did you actually test it? It's a light grey on whiteish-grey background? For a long time I just thought you had taken away items like lineup or highlights till I tilted the iPad enough to see a faint hint of words. I just sort of guessed where things were. Very bad design. And then when I went to play a highlight, the video would not stay in portrait, sideways view but flipped to the narrow tall view. When I restarted to try it again, it started to play sideways, but never would go full screen. Finally, the app has quit at least three times while trying to view info. Someone needed to do some serious quality control.

App is dead. App worked great for the first week we downloaded it. After last update will not even open? Frustrating at this point. The app pushes notifications out to current stories. Then you click and it then tries to load the app indefinitely forever. Are you fixing it or just content to let a non-functional piece of your business be out there for the masses to complain about?

New app is crap. Menu not intuitive, team logos overwrite the team name, on the standings page the headings at the top (GP, P etc.) disappear if you scroll down. Really bad, did you even do any user testing?

Just OK. You can turn off scores but can’t turn off some notifications such as can “player” get a Hat Trick. Well thanks for letting me know “Player” has 2 goals before I even turn on the game.

Many many issues. The app has a lot of problems, many of the links do not open. I find myself constantly having to go on the computer and open the website because the links on the app do not work.

Pretty Nice. I like the app to see updates of the games when they’re playing. We only have TSN 1 so when it’s not in there I kinda like to see the games on here. Works well I just wish it was easier to find the games when I go into the app.

Has been glitchy for years!. So the latest issue I have is when I open an article to read with an embedded video, the video goes full screen on its own and I have to force quit the app. It’s bad, for an organization to have such a buggy app is depressing. Highlights bug. Was working fine last year but now you want to watch the match highlights, they send you to a 20 second replay of one of the action from the game and when you click on mls in 15 same thing happen. I was enjoying watching the highlights every week last year but now its too buggy.

MLS fantasy on mobile (IOS) bugs and glitches. App has link but just takes you to a “megged” page that says close window. And last year same issue happened. And then it finally loaded like 48hours before the season started. Not enough time to get people excited for it.

What The Heck Happened. Last year the app worked fine. This year there are so many bugs. The biggest problem is you touch a story on the iPad to read it, it freezes, and the screen flips to video, freezes again for 10 seconds or so, you then close what I gather are embedded videos and then you can read the story…..wow….now that’s frustrating.

App doesn’t open. It worked a few times and then never work again. Very disappointed. No matter which update or version I have installed and tried. How can MLS release such an app that can’t be opened and used.

Refuses to open for the past couple months. App will not work on startup, has been an issue going back to the start of the season, or at least whenever the logo went black. I’ve updated it repeatedly, still won’t work. Incredibly disappointing as a longtime TFC fan.

Limited headlines. Why don’t older headlines load anymore??? Now I can only see the most recent 20 articles when they used to just keep loading older ones as I scrolled? Is this intentional? What if someone wants to read headlines from a few days ago? Please fix this. I also dislike the “latest” page. It’s so segmented with all the different sections.

App is a joke.. Please take the time to fix your app and make it run like a professional app would. It would always lag and shut off by itself, but at least it would kind of work. Now with the new update the app doesn’t even want to open. If you’re trying to get fans to engage and increase the popularity of MLS and soccer in N. America in general then it would appear that you don’t care, since I would do everything possible to make this app work like it should and re-vamp so it is easier to use and things are less of a clutter. Don’t tell me MLS has no funds. Stop being greedy and do it for the fans already instead of filling your pockets with more money. You got enough. Now make your product better. Damn. club notifications are still not fixed. The club notifications are not fixed and any updates don’t fix them the people that look app don’t care about it any one who has the app should write a angry letter to MLS because the updates don’t fix the club notifications. They need to do something about the club notifications because this is absolutely garbage.

9.0 update a disaster. Previously a great app the 9.0 update makes it nearly unusable. Bug ridden and littered with poor design decisions, this a horrible upgrade experiences.

Do not update!. Don't update the app! It was perfectly useable now it refuses to rotate to fit my iPad, if you use it in portrait mode/iPhone mode the articles are cut off on the right side. If you try to read an article it randomly flips to a video screen that never loads. Totally useless.

Flawed. For shift workers this app and it’s session pass, is of no use. Can only watch one live game, do not plan on watch two favourite teams play at same time, and cannot watch a past game missed due to a shift (i.e. recap is not the solution).

Pretty great app. Go TFC. Like others, I wish MLS could negotiate some scheme with broadcasters to eliminate blackouts, but know this is not happening. Main issue is chromecast functionality. It’s spotty at best - constant buffer issues. What’s worse is the feed looks so pretty. Very frustrating.

Buggy and missing features. Overall the new version of the app is decent but it crashes every time I go to settings and so I cannot make any changes that would make it work for me. I am on an iPhone SE and think it’s been designed for a bigger screen. The navigation is not terribly intuitive and I keep inadvertently getting bounced to another section of the site - the buttons on match day features move from the bottom to the top of the page once you touch one of them. And, the boxscore page for matches has disappeared in favour of stats pages and substitutions and cards on the line ups page. I don’t know about anyone else but I found the boxscore page an informative snapshot of each match - including weather and attendance - and if the only change was that this came back I’d increasing my rating by one star. The mobile version of the website is, in my opinion, better than the app right now - and that’s without any customization.

Blackout all of Canada? Why?. I do not understand professional sports and blacking out of all the customers. If you live in Canada cannot watch any of the Canadian teams with this app. Even if you pay the $60 a year to get the live streaming feed. I live in Winnipeg would like to support the MLS but if I can't even watch any of the teams from Canada like to follow them what's the point of paying for this app. From what I can tell with streaming options the quality Airplay it to the Apple TV is very poor not HD quality. The main reason the blackouts are so disappointing is because you cannot even pay your TV provider to watch every football game that your team plays. This app would be the only way to watch every game if it weren't for the blackout.

Poor design. Creating an account is impossible on phone. The keyboard won’t go away so you can’t scroll an click create account. It is also stupid that I need to create an account for this app. I have a few other sports apps and outside of ESPN i didn’t need to create an account. Let me select the team I want to follow and don’t make me keep skip login since I can’t create an account. An account that I don’t really want anyway that is the reason why I am not trying to get the scores from ESPN.

Could the font BE any smaller?. I’m NOT a fan of the tiny font for team names and game times as well as the team shield on the scores page. And speaking of scores, they’re also difficult to see - unless you’re wearing “readers” or using a magnifying glass. All of this makes it difficult to follow my team on this app (when using my iPhone). Not happy. Try again, please.

Update Fail!. Awesome layout BUT...the videos take forever and an eternity to load on WiFi. On the go on Verizon LTE, forget it! Previous version was so fast. No issues loading up the content nor the videos. Maybe too many graphics or something but it’s not working guys!

A hot mess. App crashes constantly. Doesn’t update scores. Freezes. Slow. Information and articles are difficult to access. I used to read the articles daily but I just don't have the time to deal with all the crashes and half loaded pages. Though I appreciate boxscore finally coming back, I would much the old low tech format that actually loaded and had the correct info on it. It’s like this app was designed to push away regular readers and fans.

The old version was better. A lot better.. I’d love to be able to say that the functionality of this version of the app is better than the previous one, but that’d be a bald-faced lie. It’s hard to find basic information, getting videos to play is rugged, and I could care less about fantasy MLS teams when I there are *real* teams playing. I avoid this app like the plague. “Bring our your dead”...

Do notifications ever work?. I’ve been using this app for years and never receive any notifications. I gave it permission and have them turned on. Tried deleting and reinstalling it. Any notification I turn on is turned back off again the next time I launch the app. Would like to follow league break news…

Terrible Redo. Really disappointed in the way they’ve redesigned this. If you care to follow more than one team as I do, it is virtually impossible. I suppose 95% of fans are so wrapped up in their “home” team that the thought of following someone else is totally foreign, but those of us who love the sport and track closely a team in each conference are completely snubbed by this new version. Love the sport, and the league, and the two teams I follow, but I absolutely hate the app. MLS has done a great disservice to their cause.

Poor redesign. Your new app is pretty awful. I’m finding lots of little bugs and designer problems. For example, after with I got a highlight video, I can’t reduce it’s size or navigate back to a different page. The navigation generally is not intuitive. Some of the buttons are the same color as the background so you can’t even read them. All around, very poor job.

Notifications Constantly Reset. I have enjoyed using this app, but over the last year or so I find that Notifications for my primary team reset themselves to zero chosen constantly. Even on additional teams followed, like the USMNT, Notifications resets my choices (Lineup, Start/Half/Finish and Goals) to Highlights and drops Goals. Fix it! Fix it! Fix it!

Go back to the old version. The new redesign is so terrible!! It’s slow, it’s hard to get to the info you want, and it doesn’t function nearly as well as it used to before the redesign. I guess it looks better? But the old version was cleaner, faster, easier to use, and I could find out things like who scored or who got a card so much faster and easier. Now every time I make the mistake of trying to use it, I end up frustrated and go to twitter to find out what I wanted to know. Please make it better or go back to the old version!!!!

Fix the Back/Notch Problem!. Please fix the problem with newer iPhones where the back button in articles is obscured by the clock because of the notch on the iPhone. Clicking the back button in the middle of an article takes you to the top, but then the clock makes it hard/impossible to click the back button to get to the main MLS home site. Basically you need to kill the app and restart to get to another article.

Not sure you can get worse. Omg, do you even test this! I’m on an iPad and have to flip and press buttons so many times just to see the first commercial in the current orientation. Cmon, you are professionals, just test this once before you release. My button is on the right, I have to flip twice to get each video to show proper. I understand ads supporting, but really, 1 every freaking video. No I’m not going to the college nor buying sunscreen/ mouthwash based on the ads, gimme 30 seconds before firing me off another ad. How about a Highlights only section without all the spoilers? I want the 4 min update of the match without knowing who scored. I paid $80 last year for mls live before espn took over, now, no $80 for you and I just wanted the espn highlights for each game.

Doesn’t load???. I have all the most recent updates of the application and my iPhone is up to date. When I go to use the app, I get a black screen with an animated MLS logo just going endlessly and the app is non functional. Please fix this asap.

Gives me what I am looking for. If I want depth, I go online.. if I need quick updates, this is a great place. Love the line ups, game stats, notifications- plus it doesn’t crash. It’s better this year than last year - keep it nimble and with just the right amount of info.

Awful. Replacing my old review where I complained about notifications not working to write a new review about how the notifications don’t work. I get all kinds of notifications for games I don’t care about at all. Not a single notification about the game I actually did care about today. This app is less than useless. Just use the website if possible. It’s much less frustrating.

Keep working on that interface!. The app definitely needed a visual refresh but I feel like this version takes one step forward, two steps back. Too much tapping to show my favorite team’s content in each section. Show it by default or at least create that option. Transitions feel sluggish. iPad app hides the system clock but annoyingly shows a permanent header and footer bar (with just one button) while scrolling articles. The typeface is difficult to read.

Great but flawed. Absolutely sick interface, looks top class. But it is extremely slow in performing tasks such as video playback and even when you just click a tab. It seems the touch feedback is off by a couple of seconds each time

Badly broken. This app used to be more or less fine, but it’s become increasingly broken over the last year or two to the point that it’s almost unusable. Crashes constantly, often as soon as it opens. The highlights are especially buggy. They’re labeled all wrong now, and I’m lucky if I can watch a single video without it freezing or crashing. I’m looking forward to being able to update this review once they finally fix this hot mess.

Redesign for 2019. I would be fine if the only issues I had were poor design, clunky onboarding, and horrid performance but on top of those things - I can’t get the app to remember I’ve logged in.... and half the time the log in process crashes.... I’m on the newest phone. I really don’t rate too many things with a review like this but the experience was so poor.... I just want to see the scores and match times, and I can’t even get to those anymore. Super sad :(

Really one of the worst apps I have ever come across. I have persistent issues with this app, that are not solved by deleting the app and reinstalling it. - on first opening the app it will close about 50% of the time. - when I want to read an article or column, the page freezes halfway into downloading. The only way out is closing the app and starting over. - inexplicably video will start to auto play ante here in the app. But the video is 0.0 seconds long so nothing will play and you can’t close it, again the only way forward is to close the app and start anew. As a result it might take 10 or more tries to even read 1 article, and sometimes I just give up. If the MLS wants to be taken serous this would be a must fix issue. The choir I sing in has a better website than MLS, a sorry state of affairs.

“Megged!”. The glory days of this app were before the redesign. The new interface is clunky, doesn’t indicate registered touches to the user (makes it feel unresponsive), and takes forever to load simple content, like the current standings table. The worst part is having somewhat spotty service and having the dumb “Megged!” message pop up every 10 seconds, making the app incredibly frustrating to use. A case of sacrificing function for form.

MLS in 15 is a must have. Title says it all. It comes in clutch when I can’t watch a game live and want to see it without knowing the result beforehand. It gives you enough to catch the flow of the game rather than the quick highlight packages.

Good content, abysmal execution. This app never works, it’s always loading or failing to load. If it does somehow manage to load the page you want there is still an annoying error message that appears every few seconds. Not worth the download, just use a web browser to search content and scores. Worse professional sports app I have experienced. Through countless redesigns/ updates one things stays the same - poor performance.

Mls crapp. The new app is absolute garbage. Hardly functions. Freezes all the time. Missing multiple things from previous app, box score, how to watch-directly on the scores screen, for example. I wish I had never updated it.

Buggy and annoying!. It asks me to personalize the app by selecting my team EVERY TIME I log in. It doesn’t remember it! What a terrible app. Takes forever to get through all the questions to get into the app. A d you can’t sign in until after the questions, so even if you have a log in, you have to answer the personalization questions every time. Also, many times I’m looking up info and the app glitches and starts flashing and locks up. Just Google the info you want. This app is not fan-friendly.

UX needs improvement. Content aside, the UX for this app, for a professional level sports league, is just horrible! The amount of bugs or crashes I experience on a daily basis while navigating between sections leads me to believe there is little to no QA done between updates. The MLS needs to take a page out of one of the many European league apps and step up their game.

Great app. The update to this app is a major disappointment. It’s buggy and the organization of highlights very confusing. I have to close the app after every highlight because it reverts automatically to the wrong orientation and won’t go back. The old version didn’t do that. I don’t understand putting out an app update that is less usable than the previous version.

Notifications. Before one of the previous updates, I would be notified before a match would start. Now, I’m getting nothing. I do have allow notifications enabled on my phone and some selected through the app, and I get nothing. This is a major bug in the system that needs to be addressed. I don’t care for other minor updates, this issue NEEDS TO BE FIXED!

Fantasy field view taken away. This was a five star app until they took away the field view away on fantasy with the new update. Please bring that back the list view is horrible. Thanks

Annoying: need to re log-in constantly. Every time you want to use a different section of the app you have to log in again. Want to vote for MLS All-Star? log in. Want to submit your fantasy team? Log in. Want to watch MLS live? Log in. Annoying as heck. If I already logged in once, the app should be integrated in a way that it carries through the different things I can do in the app.

From so-so to bad. This is always been a frustrating app, but this new redesign is a disaster. I’m sure they’ll fix some of the functional issues such as not receiving content, but the design itself is terrible. You get stuck on screens you can’t back out of, and overall it is a non-intuitive UI with a ridiculous amount of white space. If I wanted to look at this on only half a screen, I would use my phone.

It’s great but...... I love this app but my biggest complaint is for some reason my notification settings will not save. It’s been ongoing for a while. There has been no update to fix this issue. I’ve deleted the app and downloaded it again just to continue with the same issue. Extremely irritated and frustrated because of this.

Slow, glitchy and poorly planned. I rely on the MLS app because there is very little secondary coverage of the MLS. The older version had its problems but I wasnt constantly fighting with it to navigate between videos and scores. The look and feel are nice but the increased navigational keystrokes drive me crazy. The videos are always slow to load and often freeze on a black screen. I feel like these problems can be easily fixed, however the low rating is for an upgrade that made the user experience worse.

Terrible Redesign. I have no idea why they decided to change the app but the change was not good at all. Very difficult to navigate and find what you are looking for. Flipping your phone is not enough to watch in full screen one has to tap to enlarge the video. I can’t find standings, teams, highlights without numerous clicking and searching. I still don’t understand why they changed something which was working perfectly fine🤔.

I love the league, but. This app is really astoundingly poorly made for the flagship app of a professional sports league. Pages load slowly, if at all. Crashes are common, and the lack of responsiveness of buttons on screen makes me feel like I’m using the app on a Nintendo DS circa 2006. The app is a must have for keeping up with the league, because the content is great, but the user experience is miles from what it ought to be.

No highlights?. So disappointed with the ‘21 season launch. Game highlights and MLS in 15 are not available. Also there is no Goal of the Week feature. Every year it seems there is some crucial piece missing. There is so little mainstream coverage of MLS out there (SportCenter is an absolute insult when it comes to soccer), that we need this app to engage with the league. Don’t let us down!

Make a widget!. I downloaded the app because I was hoping they would have a widget for my Home Screen that could display scores or current standings, but there are no widgets at all. Please consider making some for some easy-to-see info!

Buggy and Slow. This is specific to the iPad app, but I don’t understand why two years after the app redesign, there still isn’t an automatic reorientation to landscape mode. I also find that pages load very slowly, which to me implies bad coding. Finally, I often see pages where the content displays off center and to the right. This is basic stuff that the app should be able to handle, but does not at the moment. It’s disappointing.

This app makes league look cheaper. Listen I like the on field product but this app is bad. It doesn’t ever remember my info so I have to select a favorite team and notification settings each time I want to open app and check a score or anything. Then videos for goal highlights the ads are always working while video has some problems and a lot of time won’t let me exit viewer after highlight to go back into app.

Be Better. I love the idea of having access to MLS news and stats in an official app. However, this app’s operation is, for lack of a better term, terrible. The recent cosmetic overhaul is nice as far as design goes but the system operation is barely working. Crashes, in-app auto refreshes, and random homepage returns are issues I’ve been dealing with. Not to mention, going to a different app and then coming back to the MLS app seems to crash it or reset it entirely. The All-Star voting is beyond frustrating. I believe in you. Please be better.

Bad bag in latest update. In the latest update, if you search for this app once installed on your device (for me iPhone 12 Pro) by swiping down on the home screen, when the app opens and you navigate to an article, the back button in the top left of the screen overlaps with the search function on iOS - meaning you can never go back. Workaround is to open from App Drawer or out the app on your home screen, neither of which are ideal.

Just keeps getting worse. Last year they stopped uploading team-produced content, including post-game coach interviews and talk show interviews (like Timbers in 30). That should have been the bottom, but now MLS Love has increased its blackout period on nationally televised games from 24 to 48 hours after broadcast. So I can’t rewatch a Saturday match until Monday night? Forget it. This app now does literally nothing that I can’t already get from my espn app or any other generic sports app. What a nightmare.

MLS App Will Not Open.. The app will not open on my iPhone. I tired to reinstall it but still nothing. Hard to rate something when it does not work, but I had to give it something (one star) so my review would post. Anybody else with this problem?

LOVE the app, but it just doesn’t work right now. I can’t even open the app after the past few updates, I just get hung up on the loading screen. On the off chance that I can get past the loading screen, I get error messages literally every time I touch the screen. This app is the best thing around for following MLS when it’s working. It’s worth it just for the MLS in 15 highlight videos alone. But MLS needs to fix this ASAP, I cannot believe it wasn’t ready for the start of the season.

Unwieldy and awkward. This version of MLS’ app is horrible. It is far from user friendly requiring way too many clicks to get to features other apps make easy. For instance, the in-game feature doesn’t allow the user to simply scroll between options such as game stats or lineup - the user has to click through other pages to be able to get access to the desired page. There are numerous other examples. Suffice it to say this app is a disaster and needs to be revised.

Zero stars wasn’t an option. The new app is, and I’m being serious, the worst running app I’ve ever seen on an iPhone (I’ve seen some rough ones). I am a huge MLS fan and regularly check the app for fantasy information, news, and game updates. By the time the app loads in, assuming it doesn’t crash, I could’ve already looked up game States on google for every game of the week. The app was fine before they had to make it all black and cool. They could have easily fixed minor issues with the old app and made everyone lives easier.

Why can’t this work? Is zero stars possible?. I updated and now the app will not open. I have deleted and reopened, but still, nothing. What is going on? Certainly, I am not the only fan that finds tha MLS logo loading to be far from acceptable for MLS news and update...ugh

MLS could learn from the NHL. I find the MLS app frustrating in that I can’t set my favorite team’s site as my home page. Also, to see the most recent match score as well as upcoming schedule takes an additional click once I do get to my team's site. The NHL app allows users to set their favorite team as their home page with recent results as well as upcoming games in clear view. The MLS does have excellent quality video available and I hope that continues.

Red Card. What was a useable app is now slow, poorly laid out and broken. The application is very slow. I’m sure the animated graphic MLS shield seemed like a great idea, but what a waste of processing power. Score and schedule are now not together in one menu. Definite flaw for a sports app. The MLS app is prone to random crashes. It seems to be when an underlying network connection is unstable. If a new, fancy design was the goal, it was lost in a lack of UI standards, stability and perceived glitz.

Worse than the old one. The previous MLS app worked fine. Had its issues but I always enjoyed using it. This one represents a serious regression. I understand there is no longer MLS Live, but still, WHY CAN’T I HIDE THE SCORES? Also, try browsing the schedule by ticking the dates in the upper bar: All you get is some pop up dialog. To skip a week or two you have to flick (scroll) through all the games. You should have just left everything as is and taken out the MLS Live stuff.
