hmmm. i spend a lot of time on this app blocking people because of strange profiles “in my area” anyone can make an account and stalk you with a blank profile, you can block them, but eventually you get to a point where the app wants you to spend 9.99 a month to make sure that random creeps can be blocked because you’ve reached a blocked limit. super gross how people can stalk you with GPS, and know how far you are away. if your value your personal safety and privacy, then this is not the app, anyone can track you and figure out that your at a specific location shopping for groceries. this is a sick way for you to be stalked and harassed, but if you give them 9.99 a month, it will go away.. basically this is app allows the stalkers to find you, while it might be fun to connect with people at first, expect that you can be followed, stalked, and harassed at a while other level you wouldn’t expect. “growlr pro” is the only way to stop people from stalking you.

A buggy mess now. So GROWLr use to be a great app, and I was even a premium member a few points in time. However, GROWLr was sold to a bigger tech company in March 2019 for roughly 12 million. From then on, it went down hill from spam messages, constant ad pop ups that you can’t exit from because the X is placed off screen, or the ads don’t even load properly, either way you have to close the app, reopen it and cross your fingers that you don’t get a pop up ad. Now the app doesn’t even load properly, and take forever for it to open. What’s worse, is you’ll get a notification that someone sent you a message, you go to open the app, lets say it opened quickly... but the message isn’t there. You can close the app and reopen it but that message still isn’t there. Don’t worry though, in an hour or two it’ll show up. GROWLr should have never sold it, and the company that bought it should step up and fix it. This problem has been going on for God knows how long, and there hasn’t been an update.

Long overdue for a redesign. Over the years, I have really enjoyed using Growlr. I have even paid for the Pro version for the last 4 years. However, I believe the developers have neglected the app to keep it modern and up to date. For this, I had to cancel my subscription until I know my money is being used to make continuous and reliable updates. I would love to see a redesigned UI and maybe some new features such as the ability to swipe between profiles, backing up chat history, and sharing location just to name a few. Look at Scruff and try to be better! Beside a UI overhaul, please for the love of god, address the 5+ pop ups that display ON every launch. It seems to be the same repetitive messages. WE KNOW THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS WELL AS PRIVACY POLICY HAVE BEEN UPDATED. Thank you.

Disappointed. I downloaded the app, hoping to enjoy finding some guys in my local area. I used it for about four days and noticed some odd things. First of all my profile picture was knocked off three times. I followed the guidelines and posted a picture of myself in a tank top. This was removed for “terms of service” I have no idea why. There are plenty of other profiles where people are totally shirtless. I gave up trying to figure that out. Then I decided to purchase the “pro” features which would allow better communication. I clicked on the subscribe button, everything seemed fine. The subscription showed up in my Apple Pay. I logged back into the app. Everything seemed fine. In the middle of a chat, the app shut down. When I tried to log back in a screen flashed that said “ account suspended “ then the screen went completely yellow and locked up. I tried logging back in several times in the same thing happens every time. I have no idea why, no explanation, no email stating if I had done something wrong. Nothing. I removed the app for lack of communication on their part. Just disappointed.

My thoughts of this app!. The app is good to use. Don’t not get me wrong and I’m not criticizing the application. The streaming needs to be more updated. It keeps malfunctioning but I know it’s in the beta format but it’s getting too stricted with the banning so have to change that. The location has to update because when I’m out of town and I go into a new town and the person I’ve talked to that I’m closer by it still says the same distance from where I was at home. But the app is good. I’ve met my partner on this app so I’m thankful for that. This app has good perks such as meeting new friends or play mates or lovers. A good way to communicate during the Covid-19 pandemic so the streams came in handy. I really enjoy this app overall.

Events. Social media has erupted with a massive growl of anger following mass account suspensions on the popular dating app Growlr. Growlr, which caters to bearish men, launched in 2012 and claims to boast more than 2 million users. The mass suspensions appear to have begun February 17, and have caused a massive outcry on Facebook and Twitter. At the time of this writing, the company has yet to comment publicly on the reason for the suspensions, or the steps it is taking to resolve the issue. It also remains unclear just how many users were suspended. Media speculation has noted that the company–which sold to the straight-owned The Meet Group for more than $11 million last year–may have signaled its demise. At the time, CEO Geoff Cook said “We are thrilled to add Growlr to The Meet Group portfolio. Similar to what we have done with our other acquired properties, we plan to be aggressive in bringing our video model to Growlr. We expect to begin rolling out live video on Growlr in the fourth quarter of 2019. We also see opportunities to grow advertising revenue on the app, and we plan to further invest in user acquisition to expand brand awareness and reach.” Rumor is that it’s cowardly shutting down.

Fix this app for iOS 13. You knew it was coming. No excuses. Very user friendly and have met some great guys through the app. Just a few items I'd love to see it into a future release and then it will get 5 stars: 1. Cross device synching. That also would mean having the ability to have the iPad and the iPhone apps share the same account. 2. Better "nearby" reporting upon refresh. If I change locations and then refresh, it should determine my new location. 3. The most aggravating thing about this app that makes me want to throw the phone against the wall is when the app fails to deliver a message, the message completely disappears. You should be able to resend a message that couldn't be delivered. Considering how unreliable the Growlr server is, this is a very sore point. Even Scruff gets this functionality right.

Failing to Meet Expectations. I’ve been using GROWLr for years now and I definitely noticed the app start to tailspin months ago. I almost exclusively used this app. I finally took the plunge and upgraded to Pro around Thanksgiving. I was charged, but didn’t receive any of the updates. No biggie - send a support request. It’s around a holiday, I don’t expect to hear back for a few days. Until a few days goes by and I send in another. And another a few days after. I finally have to research who the parent company is and messages them. Yup. No response. Two weeks after activating Pro (and not seeing any of the benefits), I get an email response - not from GROWLr Support, but from the parent company. I follow their instructions; no response back. My subscription is set to renew in days and I’ve literally heard NOTHING ELSE from support. Don’t waste your money.

Terrible. I have been getting a lot of abusive behavior by old men who do not read my profile to see what it is that I am looking for and then get verbally abusive when I ask them politely to read it. I don’t owe them anything. On other occasions, they unlock their private pictures without even greeting me and without my solicitation, which I consider a form of harassment, as it violates my boundaries. I’ve been reporting them within the app, which doesn’t allow you to explain specifics, so I’ve been sending screenshots of the conversations to the administrators. Their solutions? Block them. That’s it. No, that is not it. What’s the point of even reporting these users if Growlr is not going to take them to task for abusing me? I’m sick and tired of these users disrespecting me like this. Maybe others are okay with it but I am not and I am tired of the administrators offering no help. So I do not recommend it for this reason.

Limited features not worth the constant hounding to open the app for no reason. Growlr is not as robust as other apps of this type, which I could generally excuse because of course not all apps are going to have the same features. However, if you don’t open Growlr on a daily basis it sends unsolicited push notifications urging you to open the app. If you turn off push notifications to avoid being pointless notifications on a daily basis, then you won’t get notifications regarding things you actually want to hear about like incoming messages and photos from other users. And then why even bother using the app at all. In short, this app pesters you constantly if you’re not using it every day, and there are better, more fully features apps out there that don’t.

Past it’s prime - full of bugs. UPDATE: Lowered my score to 2 stars. The developer thought a new logo was more important than fixing the same bug. Bade app icon persists despite having no messages. I’ve used Growlr (paid subscription) for many years. The content and concept of the social app is fine. The technical issues seem to be constant. I’ve emailed and filed tickets with their support a few times a year at least. The major issue is when either Apple updates the iOS or growlr updates their app, the badge app icon (the red number) to show how many notices you have persists long after opening notices and messages. You have to kill the all sometimes three or four times before the icon goes away. After writing to their support and receiving the same canned response “we’re working on it.” Maybe it’s time to stop giving them money for a subpar product. The competition “Scruff” seems to keep up with bugs more efficiently.

Good but needs a facelift…. This app is good for bigger guys and those that can appreciate them, lately though there’s been a little more of everything here so honestly, if you’re looking for an alternative give this app a shot. That said, the features are what you would expect for an app like this, a grid with people nearby, basic messaging, video calls, and now a great live platform. However, the messaging and photos sections of this app need A LOT of work… first thing I’d like to see is photo watermarking. If you’re going to have an explicit save function, even in private media or in messaging, a watermark is very necessary. If someone decides to run with these pics, yeah I know bad on me for putting them out in the first place, but I’d like to know if that person was at least snagging them from here, and not just a spiteful ex or something. Also multiple profile pictures would be GREAT… I’m tired of having to add more photos to my private album just for someone to ask me to unlock, thinking they’re going to get a sneaky peek and then be rude when it’s just face. The messaging is very basic, which is fine, but an aesthetic overhaul there and throughout the app would be appreciated. Especially a dark mode! I’m tired of going blind at night 😅 Aside from these complaints, this is probably one platform I actually feel accepted and comfortable on. People are generally respectful of boundaries, and it’s just a great place to chat and meet new people. 😁

You’re screwing up. Whatever y’all did recently to “upgrade” your site is a total fail. Oh yeah, you have a little “message” icon when you click on a message. Uh, that’s redundant. But what is worse is I receive a ping that I have a message and I click thru and the message does not show up. I just received 5 messages from “Michael” and I click on the message and I get a blank image, just the yellow color that is the main GROWLr brand color. And so then I have to turn my phone off and turn back on hoping the messages will be there. Well, sometimes they are and other times not. I’ll cancel my membership unless y’all correct the problems.

Bots, scams, bugs, bad design. It’s 2022. Why can’t chats be saved in the cloud and sync across devices? If you want to use this on a tablet in addition to your phone, you’ll find each conversation is only saved on that device. I get 2-3 messages from bots every time I open the app. There are far fewer bots on other apps. Additionally, you will often have message notifications on the app icon but nothing in your inbox. Support tells me this means someone who messaged you was later removed for spamming, but they apparently can’t reset the notification flag. This is basic app coding. For a couple months the paid feature to browse anonymously would just turn itself off every time I opened the app. I reported the lack of paid functionality to Apple but they pointed me back to Growlr support who did nothing. It eventually started working again. The only upside to this app is it attracts more bears than competitors who aren’t as focused on that group.

Growlr Support. I have contacted the support team regarding multiple issues regarding my paid membership account for over two months. No response from the support team. I recently reached out to the founder of GROWLr and asked him if the support team could follow up with me. Neither sources seem to care. Been a paid member for almost 8 years I believe. Sent multiple shouts. Probably will save money the following years and work with other “gay owned apps” and hopefully get better customer service and support with them in case an issue may occur. I give the app 2 stars and would give it none, but I still use it on occasion to keep in contact with people along the way of my travels. I wished there was another Bear app that was world wide as popular as GROWLr. I keep using the app only because it markets to a certain “demographic gay male build” that I happen to admire - thanks for nothing GROWLr I think I could be done with your app.

Suggestions. Honestly this is the best app for my taste. I’m a cub/bear and love big guys/bears. So this is a perfect site to find them. BUT I think you could improve it. Please try to do what Scruff does. For instance, when are checking on someone global, you could list the guys according to its distance. The ones closer to me should come first and so on... Another great feature at scruff is the way we send Picts. Picts remain there already. They are stored. You just need to check them and they (many at the same time) go altogether to the guy I’m chatting with. Here I have to send one by one. Too much work. In the end I use scruff all the time. Waaaaay more than Growlr. Because it’s just more practical to use it. I’m even a PRO member on scruff without paying a cent (probably bcs I use it a lot, they gave me that perk). Honestly I’d rather use Growlr much more. Because guys here are just my type. Much more than those muscle guys. So please I beg you to improve the way to use the features here... so you can have many more customers.

Stop Banning People for no reason, without giving them a sufficient REASON!!!!. I am sick and tired of seeing Lonni💎 banned from Growlr for no good reason what so ever! What is wrong with this app anymore. Is someone unhappy he has a lot of people that enjoy talking with him. What is going on????? This seems very suspicious of someone that maybe does not like he has people that truly enjoy watching and talking with Lonni💎 everyday. I would love to know why something like this keeps happening to someone so kind and abides by all the rules for over a year. Please get this together or people will start to leave this platform if people can not be treated fairly & with equality. I think this maybe worth reporting to the news media. Maybe then we can get some answers from somebody!!!!!!!!

Pop ups. Ads. Spam. Mass Messages. Horrible app.. All this app is anymore is constant pop ups every time you reopen the app. Usually up to 5 or 6 in a row that you have to close each to you open up the app. Then after you close all of them you have to sit through an add and close that. Then another issue is the constant spam account that send you links. I’m not even done there because then you have to deal with what they call SHOUTS which are these mass messages that people can send out to everyone in their area. All that you have to get through just so you can see a very VERY small amount of people in your area because they want you to pay for A FEW more. It’s such a shame because this used to be one of my favorite apps to use. I’ve met some great people from it. But it’s not even close to what it used to be. And empty shell of an app. Hopefully someday someone that works on the app will actually care about it enough to make it good again. Clearly no one cares about it who works on it now. I would never pay for anything about this app. It’s horrible. I’d give this app ZERO Stars if it would let me.

Latest version is just bad - really bad.. Ever since they sold this app it has gotten worse and worse. The latest version has so many connection problems. Things take way too long to load. Sometimes, messages don’t appear for hours or even days. Notifications on iPhone are incorrect - they are doubled - so if you receive a message it shows up in notifications as two messages...two messages show up as four messages, etc. They still insist on playing ads with audio at full blast - it’s a social app folks - people are often looking at it when they are at work or in a private or quiet place - not a great thing to have an ad blasting out of your phone. As I’m writing this review I received a message that my account has been suspended. I wasn’t even doing anything in the app. It was just open. Checked with a friend and his account also was suspended. Looks like someone doesn’t have a clue how to administrate this app at the home base. There are just too many social apps there for this to continue. Wake up folks - you’re ruining this app.

Too many scammers soliciting for business. Used to be good but is now getting ruined by daily scammers — I feel obliged to report them every time the apps directions and then I’m going to block them it’s very time-consuming and annoying and I paid full subscription price for the app — Why is it my job to scream scammers?? Growlr fix it or I’m outta here And also could use a redesign/significant update — It should be easier for us to get rid of select read messages — Currently u have to go through all your history and select which ones to delete or the app clogs up your phone’s memory — would be nice — there should also be a way to block msgs from faceless profiles (which should be banned in 2019 for Pete’s sake) — tired of having to block them — and how about the ability to add more photos than 5 a la Scruff or at least to select multiple photos at once — in the age of rapid change don’t make the mistake of resting on your laurels a la Bear 411 — we put the bread on your table — I suggest you listen or make it more intuitive should I be missing anything here... UPDATE Mar 12, 2021: It’s almost impossible to message with the new update there is no message box —The only thing I can do is add the default responses like OK or thanks. IPHONE USER

Trash. Seems constant ads, anytime you log in your asked to pay to upgrade, lags constantly, half of the accounts are bots or just blank profiles of people collecting pics. Then they ban you for anything and everything. Guy kept sending me pictures asking me to sleep with him. I kept saying no and pointed out how hes being a d bag, and how ignorant and messed up it is for him to not take no for an answer. And i got banned. Like wow no means no. But then again we all know those gays who cant take no for an answer. And obviously growlr would support the guy who didnt take no for an answer then the person. Thats scary. So if you meet up and tell someone no sex in account. And then they force u against ur will. All the person has to do is report you. You will have no way to access messages proving you said no. I wont stand by an app like that as a programmer. Thats some twisted sick crap.

Streaming has been very Beneficial!. Aside everyone competing for digital diamonds, I believe every dating app should allow streaming. This allows people to interact as human beings and see personalities rather than fall in love with pictures. Pictures give us a perception of someone but it doesn’t help us learn the person with messaging and casual encounters. We can finally build a foundation of relationships online including networking when it comes to career interests and gaining support in our dreams thanks to streaming. I wish Scruff and Jack’D had this feature as well.

Last update broke it a tad. The app has been crashing while in the middle of typing. Returns to the home screen. Notifications don’t vibrate anymore when coming in; nor does the phone vibrate upon opening the app to read new messages. Sound doesn’t play when returning to app to read new messages. I have to force close the app several times in one setting to get it working g again. Let’s fix these issues please. As a longggg time user this is frustrating. On the bright side I do think the aesthetic changes and profile changes are positive.

App layout steps on the toes of iOS. I have an iPhone XR and that puts a lot of the navigational stuff in this app out of the reach of my thumb. iOS addresses that with reachability, but the designers of growlr put buttons in the space where you swipe to activate reachability, so when the screen slides down, the context changes (usually to the Pro Membership signup screen) and the Back button you were reaching for goes away. Also, there should be a more straightforward way to get to the unread messages screen from anywhere in the app—depending on where you are in the app, you might have to cycle through several screens to get to a message when it comes in—and that’s even more of a pain because of the violations of the reachability trigger space that I mentioned above. The content is pretty good but the UI needs to be reworked in pretty major ways for this to be a good app.

UNFAIR. This app is totally unfair, people keep getting banned left and right,For example some people get banned for being shirtless while other people don’t during the live-streams, and I myself keep getting banned apparently for listening to country music and dance along with it, nothing of a seductive or sexual nature, or at least that’s what I’m guessing given how when people get banned they are not giving a reason on why so how do you know what you did and to avoid it, you only get a list of things that you have to go through to figure it out, but they never give you anything specific, their contact number is bogus it goes to some billing agency, when you email about a complaint they don’t get back to you till weeks later! save yourself the hassle and do not create a profile... ever since the new owners took over Growlr has become awful..

Over it. Constantly having problems with deleting my profile photo. I try to follow their guidelines and have posted face and upper chest cropped, only to have it yanked. Posted a headshot... yanked posted a headless torso shot with a inch above pubic area, guess what? Yanked. Yet I see many other showing much more? Never had so many problems trying to get a photo posted. I guess I am supposed to not show any flesh below neck line? Or is it some mad jealous asshat reporting me to be a jerk? You know when you send announcement telling me my photo has been removed maybe you could explain why??? The guidelines make it sound like what I was posting was fine. For a gay sex hook site pretty lame. Anyways cancelled my pro account which is a waste of money and deleted my account. So don’t really care but it did aggravate me with the photo thing

They do nothing about stalkers. I have someone who is stalking me. I block one account and they open a new one. I block that one and they open a new one. They’ve done it over a dozen times. I have screen shots of all the accounts and they refuse to get involved. So they are allowing people to stalk you on their app. Avoid this app at all costs. Edit: so they claimed to take this seriously. Yet, when I sent them screenshots of all of the accounts this person created to keep getting around my blocking them, they offered zero advice expect to file a police report. Well the person lives in another country, I don’t know their name, I don’t know their address, I don’t even know what they look like. So what exactly am I reporting??? The only people with any information on this person is GROWLr, and they refused to do anything. The person is STILL stalking me, still creating brand new accounts daily to harass me from. I had no choice but to delete my account. Thanks for nothing GROWLr.

Discriminating Trolls Running Wild. GROWLr is great for connecting and make friends during live streams. However, over the past few days, some troll has created an account using the N-word as their profile name. This account has harassed streamers with derogatory comments about race, sexuality, and physical appearance. This account has been reported and blocked numerous times by a large amount of others but this person is able to create a new account each time. This has been ongoing for days and users are getting the impression that GROWLr is promoting racism and discrimination by allowing the use of such a term openly across their platform. They have not stepped in to stop this troll from making more accounts used to harass us. Thanks GROWLr for ruining the community by allowing this to happen continuously. I have spent such money and will not spend another dime to support this platform. Such a shame but I doubt that they care.

Trouble.... The app has been shutting off by itself. Saying “No internet connection” when trying to view profiles. And some of the letters will disappear when typing a message, but shows back up when sent. I do like the feature of it not showing up, except as a yellow screen, when you are multitasking several apps at a time. When one gets banned from the live video part, it does say why....only to “Review the rules of conduct” it’d be nice to show the person what they said or did to get banned. I’ve seen several guys say, “I don’t know what I did....”

Full of Frauds. Monitor the New Member section.... it’s roughly half frauds now. Random guys from New York with no info and no where near New York. There are 100’s of them daily, using the same pictures over & over. Sometimes there are 10 pictures of the same guy, with different names & different distances at the same time. Scammers! Search Ghana, Togo & Nigeria too. Everyone is White & American there. LOL Then there are the “Honest, Trustworthy” guys looking for “marriage” or a “serious relationship”. Again scammers, using the same pictures over and over, in different locations, different names. Often times they can’t even get their races, ages or weights remotely close to their stolen pictures they are using. Please report them, because Growlr can’t be bothered monitoring the scammers themselves... sad, but GROWLr doesn’t care about protecting their members from scammers.

Lots of Bots and Spam no Support. It’s the same people day in day out. It’s buggy; try doing a location search and typing the name wrong, and then try to fix it and type it again. You have to exit all the way out, change to global, change back again and then retype it. Then it’s a constant stream of messages from spam 4000 miles away. Why isn’t there a way to shut off and reject anything more than a certain distance? I don’t know what it would be like being a paid user, I certainly would never do it with the kind of experience I have had, but there’s just about no features in it that are usable. There is no way I can see to contact support- it’s just a loop of FAQs. I keep reporting the spam message but I keep getting more. I’m planning to drop it. It also doesn’t keep up with location changes. I can be 300 miles away it’s still showing meet people where I was four hours ago.

Like it. So far I really like GROWLr. I’ve finally found an a site where I feel comfortable. The only thing am having a hard time with is the updates some updates are better than other and as of recently the updates have gotten very buggy. Right now am having trouble with getting into the app I’m having to close it completely and open it back up a few times in order to get it to work. Now the reason I don’t give it a full 5 it’s because of the heavy ads I think knocking it down a few will make the experience so much better. I had to go pro because the ads are too much plus I enjoy the benefits. Now if you could add a setting for the shouts within the app that would be lovely. Being redirected to a website browser it’s too much I would preferred it to be just be a button within the profile settings. That way I can easy activate it or deactivate as I see fit.

Goes black. This app has been going completely black on me, for weeks now. I’ve changed my password, and deleted twice. Support is no help. And from what I understand, it has pretty much gone down hill since they sold it. It goes completely black. My phone then lights up with my home screen. I have to open growlr, again. This sometimes happens while I’m chatting. So I have to go to my ‘read’ messages, and retype my last message. This is so low rent to me. None of my other apps this. Just growler. And once again, support is no help. Groundbreaking, right?

Decent app, but used to be better. When this app works, it’s decent with nice people to talk to. Over the past couple of years, it hasn’t been great. There are A LOT of spam/bot accounts. I’ve also been dealing with a lot of notification and badge number issues and force log outs. I’ll get a notification I have a message and when I go to the app it’s not there or it forces me to log back in which is really annoying. Please support Touch ID or Face ID to log back in to the app. Also, after I read a message often times the notification badge will still show I have an unread message which is really annoying. If the app developers could fix these issues, I’d rate the app higher.

It’s a pretty good app for bigger guys. Aside from the formatting of some of the features it’s definitely a good alternative if you’re a bit on the heavier side. Or even if you’re just into bigger guys. Honestly the only things I would complain about are sort of nit picky. I don’t love the color scheme, and the way you get to some of the features. I think a darker theme could be cool, like a night mode or something. Or the option to customize the color scheme or something. Just something to set this app apart a bit more. Make the other devs jealous lol idk. Honestly my primary issue right now is one I’m not sure of the cause for, but it’s probably just me. When I’m using my Data I can get on just fine. But using my moms home Wifi it won’t get off of the load screen. And I don’t have this issue with any other apps. Though, Bumble can’t locate me, and I don’t have cell service at my moms place. So I can’t just use data. So, that kinda hinders my usage of the app for the moment. But oh well I guess. That’s probably just a me problem.

Love the app until current update v11.7. I really do love this app...when I can get onto it. Ever since the new update 2 weeks ago v11.7, I have not been able to get into the app. I was pretty understanding for about a week, but now that it’s been 2 weeks, I’m not too happy about paying for the premium membership of an app that doesn’t work. For 2 weeks with v11.7 the app won’t even load, it just stays on the initial loading page forever. Really up their developers come up with a big fix soon, or I’m going to ask for this month’s subscription back and possibly cancel. Shame because the GROWLr users make this app much better than others.

You never know who's actually online. I like and applaud Growlr for giving bears a dedicated online space to meet and flirt. Unfortunately, the app has significant flaws. The one that absolutely drives me nuts is its system for showing who's online and who's not. The green dot that is supposed to indicate that a person is online and actively using the app seemingly applies to anyone who's logged on in the last 24 hours or more. So unless you open up each profile and scroll down to find when they were last active, you wind up sending lots of messages to guys who aren't logged in or actively checking messages. Some dudes must think I'm a crazed stalker with the number of times I view their profile just to see if they're online! And the new design is a vast improvement over the previous, but it's still pretty cumbersome and primitive. Not my favorite app unfortunately.

Predatory. So when Growlr launched, the user had access to a lot more features, such as several hundred profiles, etc. as time went on, the app developers retracted and limited most of a free users access to those features behind a premium access paywall. I’m of the opinion that if you give users something, you should not take away features but rather innovate new features and charge for those. So because of that, I give Growler devs fairly low marks for being shady. Fast forward to now, the chat feature is interesting because it’s clearly an odd combination of only fans, just for fans, and a chat feature without the sex…. On an app that’s ostensibly designed to get men together… for relationships and the idea of sex because well, we’re men. My objection to this feature is this, people pay money to collect coins to spend on tipping content creators who are being entertained via this app. The developers don’t want the app to become a den of sleaze and sex, which is understandable but the app is designed to get horny men together to have sex. Then you have the bans. When people pay real money and then you ban them and effectively take that money away, that’s underhanded. I don’t hear of people being compensated after they get banned so it’s developers just taking peoples money without remuneration. That’s predatory at best. Fraudulent under the guise of being a puritanical watchdog.

Poor design and poor support. Unfortunately the app design is very poor. It isn’t intuitive or easy to use, but it is full of bugs. Expect crashes and freezes. Also, after the most recent crash, I found myself locked out of my account. The developer’s auto-recover system doesn’t work and no one has responded to my customer service request. The community is riddled with spammer bot accounts, and I suspect the developer sets up dummy accounts which will automatically unlock private photos in an effort to get you to subscribe so you can view them. This is definitely not worth paying the subscription fee for a premium account (I canceled mine after three days and requested a refund but don’t expect that to happen as no one responds to any customer service request). And, I actually think it isn’t worth downloading at all. It’s just far too frustrating to deal with.

Lack of locations & messages, screen contrast. I’ve been using this app for a long time, it seems that the developers are not taking good care of their app, locations are still as bad as before, offline users for more than hour still appears on the screen while other who are online cannot be seen, opening private photos you can’t see more than first two photos until you upgrade your account to premium, I mean come on, you must give some access to normal accounts so they can communicate better on this app. Messages are so bad, you cannot know if you receive a message until you refresh the page, you can’t delete any thing you send by mistake or you want to delete because you don’t want to keep it in your messages, guys after all these years you should upgrade your app to be more useful. The most important issue is the screen colors, when you open the app the top of the mobile notes such as the signal, WiFi, clock & battery cannot be seen because of the app dark colors Please do some good improvements to your app otherwise it will be as bad as the others Hope we can see that soon Thanks for reading my comments

So many scammers, paid version is a rip off.. Constantly hit up by bots or spam messages. Used to have a paid account for years, then after I complained about how bad the bots are they closed my account with no notice. When I emailed they said they decided to cancel my account and will not give me my money back. New free account works without paying, but still constantly messaged with bots and spam. This app used to be good, but they only want user's money. No real new features. No product support. No spam filtering. Etc. What are they doing with all that ad revenue and premium subscription payments? At least the other apps improve the interface, add new features etc. Not Growlr. Same old same old and no attempt to stop the rampant bots and spam.

Mediocre, at Best. This app is clumsy, difficult and totally unintuitive to navigate. It feels like the person who wrote the app really didn’t know how to program on a mobile device. Summary: Not so bad I will delete it, but quite annoying to use. The profile displays an often long list of jumbled adjectives. You should be able to see top/bottom/vers and other stats without scanning through a list of a dozen or more other things. In general, the entire profile display/editor is a mess and needs to be totally redesigned. The app uses “shout-outs” as a method of blasting a message or hookup ad to a bunch of guys at once. Yes, you can turn them off entirely, but then your only other option is to block individuals. This is apparently a sad attempt to stand out from other apps/sites. You don’t need it and it’s a lame alternative to posting ads or flipping an on/off “looking now” switch. Biggest annoyance with the simplest fix: You can ONLY view it in iPad portrait mode, and ONLY in the default position (i.e., you can’t flip it upside down). I’m sure the developer will tsk tsk and ignore this criticism, but it’s a fundamentally EASY thing to fix!!! Also, a minor point: There is too much exposure of profiles to guys in distant locations. Until I specifically put that I wasn’t interested in the text of my profile, 80-90% of the messages I was getting were from hundreds or even thousands of miles away. This is rare on Scruff.

Promises, promises. I've contacted GROWLr several times I continue to get the same response which other clients who pay for the premium account are getting also. If you try to use your iPad to download your profile photo only the very bottom of your left ear lobe will appear. The scale is completely off and cannot be edited in the iPad. One must go use their iPhone in order to submit a photo that will show up in your profile. When I have contacted GROWLr support I receive the same boilerplate response: "when Apple upgrades their software hopefully this problem will go away." If you are using your iPad to access GROWLr, it can only be used in the upright position as this app will not rotate when the screen is used in a horizontal position. When I have contacted GROWLr support I receive the same boilerplate response: "when Apple upgrades their software hopefully this problem will go away." When using the iPad to access GROWLr the messages will not sync and update to include messages received on the iPhone. When I have contacted GROWLr support I receive the same boilerplate response: "when Apple upgrades their software hopefully this problem will go away." I cannot wait for a savvy entrepreneur to come along use The growler format as an example and tweak it before charging people for using it.

It’s an amazing app, with issues. I have been using GROWLr ever since it came out. Out of all the apps, Scruff, Recon, Hornet and so many others, GROWLr is always the best one. I have met some of the most amazing guys on this app and have created life long friendships. However, the app is completely trash. It signs you out almost daily. Notifications pop up when they want to, not when you actually get a text. Sometimes it will say there is a new message but when you enter the app there isn’t one. Then once you close the app the alert is still there. The only way I have been able to get rid of it, is to go into the first convo you had, open it and close it. Sadly also when there is a new IOS update this app always seems to be one of the last ones to update. Then the update will fix one issue and create three more. Even with all its issues I will still continue to use GROWLr over any other app or site. The conversations are amazing, the people you meet are wonderful. It just seems the apps developers do not care when it comes to the functionality/stability of the app which is very upsetting. Still love this app though.

Oldie but not so goodie. GROWLr used to be the place and the space for good time on and off the app. After so many changes with ownership and management it is like a replica of plenty of fish, which is very queer friendly and open itself. Hardly anything works how it’s supposed to. You get logged out randomly and lose all message history and have to log back in. You can’t update your profile or change pictures or add things without fighting for an hour to make changes save and stick how you want them. Lots of people must be complaining because the support time has been removed and now you have to dig to find a contact is that takes 24 hours to receive a reply to something you didn’t ask or don’t need. I’d go some where else. I used to love this app and now it’s a sad joke.

Disappointed in growler support!. As a pro member, I am extremely disappointed in the growler support! I am visually impaired, and at least three times have reported an issue with the search feature under the more tab. When using this with voiceover, turned on. I am not able to access all the profiles that the search finds. This is not the case under the paid search. However, under the page search you are not able to search by profile name or name. My emails have completely been ignored every time I’ve submitted it. If this is not resolved soon, I will not rejoin when my subscription is up in March. Other than that, I love the app I have met many wonderful people on here!

Terrible Customer Service. Response to developer. No. Not going to contact customer service. 🤣🤣🤣 I already did and it's terrible. So I updated to iOS 17 yesterday and the app stopped working. I was trying to upload photos and... nothing. So I log out and log back in and I can't log in. Try a different email. Nothing. I write customer service and they aren't helpful at all. I explained that i paid for membership that same day and they wouldn't help me find the transaction ID to find the email associated with my account. That was yesterday. This morning I sent them the email invoice i got from apple and.... nothing. I know apple will give me a refund but I'm wondering if they log these low ratings as complaints? Cause something needs to be done about this app.

Love it!. This app is the greatest I’ve ever used, and the primary reason is because most of the profiles are people just like me instead of just a handful, and it’s NOT dominated by twinks and people looking for a fit and trim body. I’m a large guy. And I’m finding that most of the guys messaging me are looking for just that. I was practically ignored on every other social app I tried bc I didn’t look like a ken doll, and that takes a toll on your self esteem after a while. With Growlr, I had several people messaging and chatting with me within just a few hours after making a profile. I can’t believe the response. If you’re a guy with a few extra pounds (or you like them that way), and you’re sick and tired of the attitudes from the people looking for the perfect athletic body, I highly suggest you try this app. I think you’ll be surprised.

Customer Support lacking. When I log out of GROWLr, I can’t get back in. I am entering my correct user credentials and my password appear as black dots in the field. There is an error message that then says that the password field is required. The was word is there guys! I can’t get passed this. I contactede customer support a year ago and they had me delete the app and reload it. That didn’t work. Then they provided a password work around, that worked. Now about a year later it’s happened again. I contacted customer support three times today. They responded the first time, with the same first solution from last year and that didn’t work again. No response from the second two email messages. Really very disappointing that this problem is still here and their customer support is not clued in. Paid subscription is not worth it. Not a reliable app.

Spam out of control.. The spam is out of control. I log on and instantly get 7 spam messages from fake accounts. It wouldn’t be difficult to block these instantly.

Pathetic. I use this app a lot. But ever since the update a week ago I haven’t been able to login in. I’m a PRO member. It’s been almost 2 weeks without being able to use my member ship. It’s funny how you accept money but then screw up with the update. But are quick to blame apple. We all deserve a refund who aren’t able to login.

Growlr. Great app, easy to interact. From time to time messages are not sent and no notification will tell you that didn't sent, and you have to type again the message. Can it be possible that the message you typed still shows so you click resend instead of typing again the message? Too many bot account sending messages, please try fix this as it happening daily

Scammer haven app. Every day I get 2-5 scammer messages tryna click to a dodgy site. It’s got so bad. And 2-3 times a week the scammers who clearly wanna go private after 2 messages to scam you. Other apps do something. GROWLR doesn’t track their activity and shut them down like other apps. Even when you report scammers they don’t act. Security of your users should be a priority. Until you fix this I won’t be paying for your app.

Too many spam accounts. Used to be a lot better but it’s starting to be flooded with spam and bot accounts and still messages disappear after hitting send

Safety and security concerns. So I've been using the app for a while and I've now apparently reached a block limit. You can only block 75 accounts and after that you have to pay to be able to block 200 more. For me, this makes me feel incredibly unsafe and insecure. Blocking accounts should not be a feature that you have to pay for. Could you imagine if Facebook made you pay to block people? Now I fear sending a message to anyone incase they are some kind of creep and wants to find me or sees me in public due to having seen my profile. This is legitimately a serious concern. Because of this I HIGHLY recommend everyone steer clear of this app. I am deleting my account and uninstalling the app. Shame on the Devs.

Badly maintained app. The GROWLr team need to do something about the ridiculous amount of spam bots on fake profiles. The minute you open this app you’re bombarded with half a dozen fake profiles spamming you with links to other websites and half blank profiles with stolen profile pics using a chat A.I to talk to you. Not to mention as soon as you open the app you’re asked if you want upgrade to premium. Why would anyone want to pay money for an app that has almost no moderation and no visual updates or new features?

Unsolicited. I keep receiving unsolicited and spam messages from fake accounts and no matter how much I report and block them I still keep receiving them.

Spam/Bot headquarters. This used to be a great app, and whilst there are some great people on here, the majority seem to be scammers, bots or advertisers for other websites. I would say 70% or more of messages are from the above. I report them all but I doubt they do anything about it. My subscription expired last week and I didn’t renew it as I didn’t see the point. The other issue is if you use the app on more than one device like I do with my iPhone and iPad , the messages do not sync!! Very annoying and highlights a poorly designed app

Currently Plagued with Spam Bots. It seems as though every time I sign into the app as of late a spam bot has sent me a message within 2 seconds, and then 2 seconds later a second spam bot! Growlr needs to do something to stop these bots, and it make it easier to report a spam message within the message interface itself instead of having to go to their profile! Please do something quick!

Not a good ap, poor functionality. You can’t manage your profile photos, from public or private, it’s really annoying. Can’t contact support. Also, the ap kept putting me in Paris when my location settings was off, in the profile you type the location as text, it doesn’t actually reflect based on what you’ve typed. Pretty woeful app. Needs a few major tweaks or an overhaul.

Full of scams. Never get anyone messaging me in here unless I log in and see who’s about. Then all of a sudden I get messages and guys wanting to chat but they are always over seas and advertising other sites. I never get any messages from guys close by. Will be deleting the app.

Scammer/bot accounts. There are so many scammer/bot accounts on Grindr that I’m ready to cancel and delete, never use again. Lift your game Grindr and do something about this increasing problem, otherwise many others will also get rid of it once and for all.

Really bad app. It locks you out randomly with the sign in button jumping around, then it deletes messages and crashes wiping out all history. Don’t think I’ll bother using it again. It feels cheap and nasty, set up to make a quick buck and not giving much back to the quality of the app.

Map location search. Since the recent update, searching locations on the map in Australia doesn’t work well at all. It doesn’t recognise many local suburbs in my state. Can I suggest the programmers take some queues from GROWLr’s main competition? At least their manual location search engine works well. Oh, and I am subscribed but... now I’m reconsidering that status.

Infuriating. This app is such a waste of time. Was so frustrated from the CONSTANT ads and the horrible elevator music playing in the background whenever you open the application, that I purchased a membership. Now I can see a message come in, I get the notification, but when I open the app the message is gone, no trace, and no way to retrieve it. I wouldn’t recommend.

Below Average performance. I enjoy using the app but since the last update, the app is taking much longer to respond and keeps crashing, despite restarting my phone. Running latest iOS version.

App is so buggy. For the last 6 months+ the app has said I have a growing number of unread notifications. I’ve checked all messages, my feed/likes, deleted and reinstalled, updated app and still continues to show the unread notifications which don’t exist. Fix your app!!!

Good but needs a refresh. The app is functional but it feels outdated & clumsy to navigate, forcing users to jump onto a website to disable/enable features (e.g shouts & flashes) is a bad user experience. Using similar genre apps is a lot more intuitive. Also browsing through user profiles requires lots of scrolling as you see 1 large tile at a time. The community of users using the apps seems ok, I just wish it was easier to communicate & navigate to these users.

Needs to be fixed. I’ve had this app for at least 5 years now and it still on occasion will lose unread messages when opening the app to view them... I thought by now the app developer would have addressed this but alas it is still happening :/ also the “My Matches” section in galleries, what algorithms have you used to select this? because mine just seems to be a list of guys who would never talk to me......

Please update for iOS 11. I use this app a lot and I really like using the app but I’m kind of annoyed that ever since I updated to iOS 11 the nearby tap isn’t working. It says I have to be a pro member to view it. Also you know that menu where you go to to access your profile to edit it. It’s all off center and not how it should be. Please put out an update for iOS 11 as soon as you can for this app can be 5 stars again.

Pointless. If someone unlocks their private media, it is their intention for you to see the content. This app stops it from happening if the recipient is not a paid member, only allowing the first three pics to be viewed. This app is also very bot heavy. Too many spam messages with invites to external porn sites.

Don’t both with this app. If they want, they can ban you without giving a reason. I had over 3000 people favourite me but they permanently banned me yesterday and won’t say why. I tried to follow the rules/guidelines, so asked what I did that could have gotten a permanent ban and they won’t reply. I think it’s a mistake and they just done care (and choose not to reply). I deserve to know why I was banned

Problems. Why am I being logged out every few days?

Have the developers given up?. It seems that the growlr developers have just given up!!! So much spam messages, constantly reporting them but no change. and personal messages constantly getting lost and not sending. I’ve started to notice a lot of users in my city deleting the app. What once was 20+ people within 5km, the nearest person is now 7km away. It seems this app is on a downward spiral.

bugs bugs bugs. random force closes, blank profile descriptions, constant messages about the growlr service being unavailable, even messages crashing the whole app, the latest update has been an absolute disaster for this app. if I could roll back to the version prior I would. get your act together and fix this app!

Good app but not enough restrictions. Need to be able to put “No messages beyond X number of km away” Messages from all over the world whilst trying to sleep from people I have no chance of ever meeting.

Pop up ads!. I can understand banner ads for the free versions of these apps but annoying pop ups that intrude whilst you're typing a message are unacceptable. I thought my phone had a virus when it said I was today's lucky winner or took me straight to the App Store to download Gumtree. I give it a week, then I'm gone. Scruff is better. Update Oct 2017. The data hungry pop up ads appearing every time I try to access a message have taken their toll. Canceled my profile and deleted the app.

Used to be a good app.. Just opened the app and as usual got 4 spam messages immediately. I have alerted administration over and over to these and, in frustration, messaged them to ask what they were doing about it. They didn’t reply and still the messages come. I don’t recommend this app to anyone.

Buggy. Last few updates seem to be adding bugs rather than fixing them. The alerts badge stays up with no active alerts which is really annoying.

Fake & bot profiles. Fake & bot profiles are rife in this app & even when you report them no action is taken as I still have the bots showing still active months later that I can see in my message thread. Nor is it easy to talk to a help desk over the bots because they not interested in policing them.

Availability to access messages history over different devices.. Basically a good app, however would be improved and worth membership if could read messages over different devices. eg iPhone, iPad etc

Frozen for the Second time on I phone 6. Would pay for it as it’s frozen 2 on my I phone 6 had to reinstall, lost all conversations Now on I pad air2 and when typing the conversation drop down and you can’t see what your typing or press send 😔😔😔

Nice community, tech is getting rusty. A lot of really great guys on the app and much friendlier and easy going than the main gay apps. I've had better conversations here too. I'm a pro member and pay for a subscription and I'm growing very dissatisfied with the app's performance, however. Frequent crashes, lost messages, failed notifications, painfully slow server responses and need to constantly kill it and reboot a few times a day. The interface is ancient and navigation is painfully old school. Lots of functions standard on dating apps just aren't here. Part of paying for a subscription is financing the upkeep of the app and that just isn't happening anymore. Very sad because it was a great app when I first joined.

End of an Era. This app was once an amazing way to meet, hook-up, and connect with like-minded fuzzy friendlies around the world. The sharp downhill decline of its privacy, spam-blocking, online solicitation, and ease of use has gotten to the point where I’m looking at other apps to provide my services too. Also it’s new T’s and C’s are nothing short of exploitative - there’s no way I’m giving this app a good review the pathetic way it is now. Do better Growlr.

Want a constant Spam feed join Growlr. I’m on the edge of discontinuing with any attempt to use this app. Almost all of the messages you get are SPAM, be they 1) escort ads 2) dance party ads 3) guys shouting out to any random Person in an area that they may want something. 4) Bot replies. What you don’t get (or very rarely) is people who actually send you a message directly to you to connect for anything. No it’s not just me have read similar reviews from others. Sure you can “Stop” receiving these messages if you go online (not via the actual app Sign in), which is fairly useless because even the web addy they gives to do this clearly states it’s an App. Seems the developers are more concerned about making money from either up selling you to the pro version or from allowing any random person send out spam for a cost, but don’t care to allow end users easy access to delete the spam options. This is an app, allow users the ability to turn on/off features like your shout system from within the actual app.

Have to pay for basic. You don’t get to view many guys in your area unless you pay. You also can’t see all their pics even though they are willing to share them with you.

Ugh. I have PRO membership, and use this app daily. There are two issues that are annoying me at the moment: (1) A huge spike in spam messages. I’ll get one-line messages, mostly faceless bot-looking accounts, as soon as I open the app. They’ll say things like “Hot mans for you” or “Adult dating site” followed by a URL. This happens at least twice a day and reporting and blocking has little impact. (2) Messages aren’t getting through. I’ll get a notification that I have a message, but the message won’t appear. In some cases, the message never appears. In others, it appears much later or out of of chronological order. This app relies on its messaging system being reliable and effective.

Advertising. Pop up ads appear and take over the app completely. Unable to close them down and have to restart iPhone to clear them. What is going on!

Growlr is not user friendly at all.. This app is kick you out all the time, it means u need to login all the time. When u open the app sometimes it doesn’t show messages. When you re-download ur app u can’t see ur old messages. Also u can use this app for only one device. So many bugs that they need to fix.

Full of Scammers. I got a message from GROWLr Admin reminding me I hadn’t visit this site in a while. Part of the problem with this site is every time you go to this site you get hit with fake accounts trying to redirect you to other sites. GROWLr Admin get your act together and clean out the scammers.

Latest update made it worse!. Great new additions but it crashed my app after 1-2 mins. Also, it kept saying no internet connection, whereas there is! Can you please fix the bug? I'm in the middle of chatting to a fabulous guy, and he thinks I'm ignoring him!!! He could be my future FWB!! 😜

Scam / Bot Messages.. I keep getting spam messages. Several a day. I keep reporting them but they still keep coming. I have not heard or seen anything from the administrators. I don’t think they care at all.

Lost touch with users. The app is annoying more than useful at this point. Useless updates that never fix crashing issues, to the ads you can’t escape ever single use of the app, and now recently going from being able to close the app after two seconds to having to wait until the full ad is played.. growlr is getting way too desperate and you’ll be losing more users with your poor management.

Love the men but it’s buggy. Been a user for many years and the kind of guys I go for are moreso here rather than Scruff (never use Grindr) but given just how many users pay for Pro, you’d think they would sort out how buggy the app is. Lost messages, moving between functions at a glacial pace and then just giving up and reloading. The saying “GROWLr ate my messages” is becoming more frequent a phrase on bio’s. Just sort it out. Emailing support does nothing more than a form letter response. Don’t just take my money and shrug your shoulders. Other apps are this buggy, why yours?

If you love every second message you get being from a scammer or spammer you will love this app. The MEET ME FOR feature is a favourite for people trying to move you to another paid site. The TRAVELLING function lets you identify the scammers from bot farms who use other peoples photos to create fake to profiles and spam you. The LIVE function is ideal if you are so bored that you want to preen the egos of idiots like WOOFY who try to scam American chubs ….

Update not working!. Since the update 5 days ago the app is going crazy and does not allow login. Fast flashing screen notifications....reinstalled, no change. I am sure they must have noticed issues with this version and other having access issues!

Advertisements. Hi Growlr. I have been a member for some time now and am really getting irritated by the constant advertisements that blast sound on your phone!!! How is a horny bear supposed to look at hot men while wasting time at work????? I get that you need sponsor money to survive but PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE, find a way that doesn’t have ads screaming at you while at work!!!!!

Too many spammers and suggestion for iPad app. There are too many spam and bots on this app. The moment you load up the app you get several messages from various spammers. Also, on the app, please update it so that it rotates into landscape as well. Right now this app is locked into portrait mode. I’m sure most people use an iPad use it in landscape mode with a stand. Other than the above this app is quite good

Bot Central. Hate real people? Talk to all of the bots. You can report them but nothing ever happens…

Unbelievable amount of scammers here!. Truly an unbelievable amount of scammers here on this app! Thankfully they are so easy to detect! Isn’t there anyway this can be controlled a bit better?

Private pics oroblem. The app is poorly designed. For example, if you accidentally hit the show private pics button, it tells you you did it without asking if thats what you intended. Sloppy design.

Another garbage website just like Grindr. Scammers/bot accounts. I hope they figure out a way to stop them. If it’s not themselves doing it to scam their customers…very negative app!!

Scammers nest with this app. Have been scammed more than a couple times any one asking if you’ve ever dated military is the cue for a scammer which will tell you there on a mission x. Eventually drag you to another app to chat and from there eventually they ask for money to help them out. I am truly horrified to find so many of them report and block t them. But I have even had received more messages from the same scammer using the same profil so I guess this app as no interest in shutting down any scammers profile? Not for me and unfortunately males people weary of relations online. There are some real people but it is horrible to find so many on this site.

Nice app but too many scammers. When I got on it it was great, now way to many scammers I keep reporting them but no one seems to to anything about it.

Does what is needed. Does nothing to stop bots and/or scammer accounts, rendering it pointless to use.

Bad app. Application is not intuitive, full of fake profile

Garbage. This app is trash. Full of bots messaging you for scams. And the developers have now limited users only able to see the 14 nearest users. Have to pay and upgrade to pro to see who is around you and converse. This app just gets worse with each new version and upgrade.

Why so many spam messages.. Love this app. Been a paying member for a few years now. But, in the recent months, I’ve been receiving lots of messages from nameless profiles asking me to visit websites to view nudes. Very annoying and shouldn’t have to deal with this nuisance. I hope the GROWLr team is working on blocking these types of messages polluting my account. The messages are targeted and not shouts.

Update. The app needs a huge upgrade. It’s very poor !

Connectivity and reliability. I have used this app on and off for 2 years. In that time I’ve experienced some positive results as well as some not so positive experiences. The two main problems are the number of fake accounts that are simply scammers trying to manipulate and irritate, as well as nameless faceless accounts that are simply sex bots trying to get you to buy their porn. The other issue is the inability to logon to check the messages that have been received. This is frustrating and annoying. Please address these problems with updates and stronger security measures.

Can’t even open. I just updated to v11.6 and now I can’t even open the app! At first when I would go to use an emoji, the chat box would disappear so I would have to go back, then re open and re type my message (if I remembered it). Then a guy said to update it and now I can’t even open it. It glitches and says there’s an error and the pop up spams... no idea what’s going on

Needs to work between devices. The app doesn’t retain info on different devices. When chatting on my iPhone the conversations stay on the iPhone and when I chat on my iPad they stay on my iPad. Makes for disjointed conversations when responses are slow and you’ve changed devices

Report Feature is Useless. Reported another user multiple times after being continuously harassed with nasty discriminatory messages, and the report feature resulted with absolutely nothing. That user is still active on the app, probably harassing somebody else. I have had this app for many years, and the lack of customer service is truly disheartening. Deleted the account and will not use again.

Spam scams and bots. What happened to this app? It was good now it’s full of scammers and bots and people faking their GPS. It should be free for the amount of crap you get in messages from scams and bots. Do better!

Scambots. Every time I open the app there's at least 2 or 3 scambot accounta that hit me with the exact same message. It's getting to the point I don't even care to check it anymore because of that.

Bear Central!!. This is a great app for men seeking bears and daddies. Lots of hot men on there and especially tons of Bears. Great place to find hairy bears or Daddies. It’s good and serves it’s purpose, however not too many bears on there.

Lots of hot men. Great app... Couple of minor bugs, but well done over all. Need to move the video button lol

Bullying. Just experienced a bullying situation on this app for the first time ever! I made a complaint and I hope it’s followed up because the text dialogue wasn’t appropriate in any way, and I’m worried that growler folk might be changing. I’ve always found the site friendly and fun.

Best Site. This is by far the best site I have visited! I’ll join soon but it’s only been a few days! I navigation g the site now, trying to figure some of the options! Ie: does green light confirm a person is on line?

Why does this app stop sending notifications. You get notifications for a bit after installing. Then eventually you get no notifications or badges for unread messages. You need to fix it.

Won’t allow me to create account. So I’ve been trying for months to create an account. I have contacted Growlr, and I was told to create an account from a new email address. This is what I have done! Twice! Two different email addresses that I created specifically for this! And I still am not able to create an account! This app is deeply flawed! Get your act together Growlr! You used to be a really good app, and you’ve gone downhill over the years.

Can't login. I've used the app before and it was great. For some reason, the app auto logged me out and now it won't log me back in.

Unknown. App is garbage. Haven’t been able to get on since update. Tried several time and it won’t go past the loading screen.

Scammers. Your site has be overrun with scammers. I’ve block four in the last two hours x

Terrible tech. GROWLr is the worst of the many social and hookup apps out there… Crashing, freezing, seizing up - although it’s improved incrementally since it’s earlier days when Coley was running it, it’s pretty pathetic when compared with something as sophisticated as Scruff for instance

It won’t stay away!. I personally didi t find any use for the app, especially for my location. However I’ve deleted this app multiple times and it keeps re-downloading itself onto my phone. Can anybody give me a tip on how to permanently remove it? Very fishy behaviour for sure.

Great when it works, but…glitches. This app is great when it works, but customer service seems to not work on weekends, when I and many others want to use it the most. Rejoined as a paying customer two days ago and still waiting for a response to my email.

GROWLr Admin sent you a message!. I hate having texts from Growlr admin account and it is not block-able. The app is already riddled with bot accounts that keep sending malicious links, enough reason to mute notifications completely. Why do you add to the annoyance? I would never pay for the app if it wasn’t for looking at private albums…

No Moderation and it’s all spambots. My friend is being impersonated on this app but it’s like the reports aren’t being seen or paid any attention to. It’s like there is no moderation or community guidelines enforced. Plus every time I log on it’s a flurry of spam messages.

Bug. I lost my chat twice without deleting it myself… it’s really laggy and I don’t get notifications when I get a new messsage…

Needs dark mode. Interface is way too bright.

Love the app but please fix bugs. Long-time loyal user — love it. But you really need to fix the bug/glitch where red message notification numbers on the app don’t/won’t clear if I tap a message notification received from *outside* of the app itself (like banner notifications while in other apps, and/or in lock & Home screens). Very annoying!

Just signed up. I just signed up and got as far as adding a profile photo and when I checked I had been suspended!!! I never even used it yet or anything as I never got a chance to finish up my profile !!! But you took my money and then suspended me ??? What’s going on ??

Fake accounts. There are a lot of fake and boy accounts on here. I get maybe 15 messages that are all scams. I even payed for this. You think they would do a better job at making sure the accounts are for real people. Avoid

App Should Be Renamed Spamr. Despite charging more than $70 a year for service, the app developers can’t seem to prevent annoying spam and bot accounts from being created. Additionally, the UI is among the worst out there, with extremely inefficient use of screen real estate, convoluted access to features, and an outdated design and color scheme. It seems the vast majority of resources are dedicated to the livestream feature with its dizzying array of for purchase animations and confusing controls. Too bad the developers don’t spend more time on the fundamentals of what makes a good app instead of milking this digital cash cow for all it’s worth.

Locals are friendly. Love the community in my area, know that’s going to vary by where each person lives, but have had some great conversations with locals 🙃 (mid Missouri here) Be wary of people who aren’t locals though, more often they want you to open links or use other apps or otherwise suspicious (supposed sugar daddies, interested in you without opening up about themselves, may not acknowledge your questions or only part of them 😅🤷‍♂️)

Cut the catfish!. As time goes on the focus of this app becomes less and less about the bear community and just more of a cash grab. Profiles are deleted and users are turned away because of what they’re wearing in their profile photo or because their presented gender doesn’t match with the app’s “aesthetic”, but for only $10 a month you get an expanded nearby list that’s over 50% bot/spam accounts! (Seriously, I scrolled and counted. Out of 115 rows of profiles, 67 of those rows were ALL fake accounts.) They say “just email if there’s a problem”, yet if you even get a reply be prepared to wait a week. MeetMe is driving this app into the ground.

Needs an update. This is a great service and an alright app. I’m really tired of everyone losing messages when they get new phones, myself included. It needs the option of cloud backup built-in. I also really wish it was usable across multiple devices. Sometimes I’d love to take a break from my tiny screen and chat with the keyboard on my iPad, but the iPad app isn’t landscape friendly... and each device holds its own conversations, no sync. I would love to see an update that fixes these things. What exactly do I pay the premium rate for if not for continued development?

Great app. I love growlr. The only criticism of it is that the little lights on people's profiles that indicate whether a person is currently online do not reflect real time. If someone has a green light it should indicate that they are currently online. Not that they were online 9-12 hours previously. I mean if I am wanting to "chat" in real time and looking to meet, it does me no good to see that you were last on 9 hours ago. I want to know who is ready to "chat" right now. Fix that and the app would be perfect.

Horrible Customer Service. I was a premium member on here for 10 years. Faithfully paid my monthly fee and never caused a single problem. Then I started to notice friends of mine on here we’re being kicked off and suspended. The same thing happened to me just last week and no one will respond and give me a reason as to why I have been suspended. I have emailed them many many times and they are still ignoring me. This app is filled with fake profiles and bots, All stating they are from the military and trying to get you to sign up on a different chat website. I have reported these fake ads many times but I was the one kicked off. Do not waste your time or money on this app!!!!

This app is terrible. Even after the last update, app still crashes, messages not being sent or received, the space where you type messages, sinks below the keyboard at times, and the only way to fix it is by force closing the app ( this particular bug has been going on for years). I could go on and on and on, but it would be easier, at least for me, if the developers of this horrendous app, would just read some of the comments below mine.. Nearly all of the one and two star comments, list the same problems. Really, this app doesn’t need “bug fixes”, it needs a complete rewrite, by someone who knows what they are doing. I’m a paid subscriber, but if these lingering issues aren’t addressed, I won’t be renewing.

Growlr is INFECTED.. This app, after being bought out by a major app corporation, has continuously failed to address and solve its abhorrent bot and scam problem that continues to plague its reputation. This was once an app that served the Bear community. It has since become a breeding ground for incessant viruses, bots, scammers, and millions of others who are being allowed to join under the "all inclusive" clause that has muddied up the footwork of what it means to be apart of the Bear subculture. One star is too generous. The owners of this app need to pull some strings and invest to fix its platform before it is abandoned due to neglect. The Better Business Bureau needs to be consulted immediately regarding the neglect that has ultimately tainted the legitimacy of this platform.

Good community, buggy app. I have met a lot of nice, hot guys on here and made some friends. The community of men is great. The app could really use some work though. This is the only app where you can’t swipe between profiles. It is very buggy at times. Message threads disappear. The app logs you out randomly and it doesn’t give the option to save the password in keychain. Sometimes the notification badge says like 24, but I have already read all my new messages. And why have only 1 unlocked pic available and only 25 pics total? The UI could use a refresh too.

“Polar Bears”. What exactly are “Polar Bears”? My belief is that the term describes men who identify as either “white” or “Caucasian” males though some men believe the term refers to men with white beards. I thought that’s what “Silver Daddy” meant. Shame on Growlr IF they are intentionally singling out one racial group over others in this manner. Unlike some I don’t believe the “bear community” is any more sensitive to issues of race than any other part of the LGBTQ community. People have their desires and preferences that we all have to negotiate somehow. IF Growlr is taking a position that white males deserve a specific designation then it should explain why or consider removing this label. I encourage others to contact Growlr and ask them to address this matter.

App. The app keeps crashing and some of my pictures don’t show up. The message chime rings notifying me that there is a message waiting for me however when I go to read the message it isn’t there. I find that if I close the app completely and then go back in, the message is there waiting for me to read. Other guys I chatted with said they’re having issues with growler as well. All these things need to be repaired soon as it’s very frustrating. These issues started on September 6, 2019

Can't exit some ads. I've used this app for on and off for about 7 years. I've never had this problem until recently. Lately there are a couple of ads for mobile games that pop up while using the ad, an exit or "X" button doesn't pop up to close the ad. Therefore I either have to delete the app and install again or restart my phone. It's become too much of a pain because it happens too often. Please fix this!

NEEDS A FIX!. A great app to chat and meet new people on, especially much different compared to other apps in the market. However this app needs an update to not only let users send videos and video chat as well in the time we’re in today, but also to fix the annoying pop-up bug that comes up when you open the app now. Version 11.6 completely broke the app now and users are not able to enter GROWLr for a few days now. Please release an update as soon as possible in order to let people communicate with one another, especially through this difficult time the world is facing. Otherwise, the consumers will just delete the app for not working and completely forget about how great GROWLr is.

App seems to be having issues. Over the last couple of days, I’ve not been getting message notifications. I’m not sure if this is a problem with the app or this feature has been moved to paid-only status, but it makes the app difficult to use. The app hasn’t been given a refresh in a long time, so it’s beginning to look a little long in the tooth. The app crashes frequently. If you are having a conversation with someone and don’t back out of the chat each time, you’ll have to back out multiple times eventually. Definitely needs some fixes, and could really use an overhaul.

Worth it!. Over the years it has always been a reliable source of contacts and chats with buddies all over the world. I enjoyed it much, and I hope it continues to work for years to come! Thx for the hard work guys! As a suggestion, I find it could be improved: a feature that would allow me to ‘play’ with profiles (swipe left I like, swipe right you are amazing, swipe up let’s meet!) would add more time spent on the app itself, and the woofs and such could be immediately available instead of scrolling to find and use them.

Worse and worse. Used to be my favorite app honestly. With latest few updates, the app responsiveness is getting from bad to worse. Very sliw and now after yesterday’s update , it logged me off every time. I have to put email and password everytime. When i write a message in Arabic only few words appear. The reat of the message doesn’t show ( been like this for months). In short, Growlr is losing the trust. Hope u can do something about it.

All the bears are on it so..... Honestly the only reason this gets two stars is because the fact that it attracts bears and is largely exclusively for the bear and bear adjacent communities. I’m a developer and have used this app for years and frankly speaking there have been inexcusable bugs that have lingered for years surround missing messages, issues sending messages, and all around performance issues. Now since it was sold to a new company it’s just nose dived. They seem to have a desire to update the user experience. While the UX was dated they need to fix some core architectural and software design problems first. I cannot use the app longer than 5 minutes without it having a complete meltdown. Luckily it warns you before it just disappears from your screen by completely going bonkers right before your eyes. Seriously, it’s disappointing to have to put up with this many issues (and as a paying subscriber member) to talk with the quality guys that are on the app. Someone needs to fix this or some one needs to build a better bear chat app.

Version 16.1.0 has Bugs. I wish I wouldn’t have updated the app to the latest release 16.1.0. Now on my iPad Pro, EVERY time I click on the paper clip icon next to the chat text box, the app crashes and closes. Hope GROWLr does a better job testing before the next upgrade. For now I am turning off automatic updates and will update only AFTER a week of reading the reviews. UPDATE: A week after contacting GROWLr support and after logging out of the app several times and logging back in, this issue seems to be resolved. I like the app but I always hesitate to install new releases out of fear more bugs are created when old bugs are fixed. UPDATE AGAIN: The bug is back. The app crashes every time I click the paper clip icon next to the chat box. I can’t add a photo to a conversation. Logging out and logging back in doesn’t help. I am a paid Pro member.....this is unacceptable. UPDATE - 3RD TIMES THE CHARM? Another week later this bug seems to be fixed. Crossing my fingers and raising my star level from one to three.

Sad&Mad. My subscription was renewed and I am paying for the second month for grading since May 24th 2021 yet “till now” I can’t use this upgrading. They ask me to upgrade and when I go to upgrade I get a message that I am already subscribed. I am on this app since years and it was smooth to do upgrading before. I cancelled my subscription tonight till they fix this issue and I get compensated.

Unstable. This app has been unstable for years. I’ve been a user since 2011. Same problems always. First, the interface is awful. You have to go in deep to do things then backtrack. Why can’t they update it? Stability is a mess. If they gave me a penny for each time it says I have a message and then it’s lost somehow, I’d be a millionaire. I understand some lay person by some miracle stuck out and became the owner, but can’t you hire professionals? App crashes all the time. Anyways. Praying for an alternative for bears. That’s the only reason you are around, there’s no one else. And what idiot decided to put the camera where we all press on it by accident? I’m not a creep to try to talk to people live when I don’t even know them.

Once A Great App, But Is Now Falling Into Ruins. GROWLr used to be a terrific app. But now it crashes often, can take forever to load, messages sometimes don’t send, messages sometimes are not received (but you do get notified that one was sent), you get assaulted by messages from bots asking you to go to other websites as soon as you open the app, it freezes for 10-15 seconds at a time, and my phone won’t sleep until I close the app or my battery dies. It hasn’t been updated in 10 months! This is so disappointing to see. I will likely be cancelling my premium membership that I’ve maintained for years. May e if enough people cancel, the new developers will take notice and do something about it.

Serious spam issues. Every time I open the app I get a message from a random “user” 4973 miles away from my location. It’s always a different name and never a pic but always the same distance. How does it know I’ve logged on, seems like a security issue with this app and absolutely no way to contact anyone. Charging $10/month and the pop up ads on the free service I expect some sort of customer service. Reporting the user is no good because the bot just keeps adding new accounts under a different name.

Weak App. I really would like to give this app a great review, because in theory it could be amazing— BUT there are so many bugs in the app that it makes it hard to find reliable. It’s always crashing and once you reach a certain amount of messages saved, it can turn into a useless app (so I recommend deleting all messages from scrubs you don’t have interest in). It was to the point where I would send a photo and it would crash. Every single time. I deleted my account and stayed off for a long time and I’m trying it again. Still has similar issues and it crashed 2 times while I was trying to create the account this time. Would really appreciate some real bug fixes in the future.

This app has a great community pit the provider is the issue.. I have been using the app for over a year and a half now with over 2000 followers. I have created quite a friend base on here. However, they don’t have a good review system and play for violations and you get slapped all the time for violations that you didn’t commit. And even when you asked for a view, no one responds to you. They’re only concerned about us helping them get diamonds purchased. Not to mention that half the time the system breaks. With all that said the community is something quite unique and has been done by us the streamers. Sadly, there’s no respect for what we do. Very disappointed.

Pro Membership not worth the purchase.. A standard joining will suffice. Don’t waste your money on a pro-membership. I purchased a pro membership. My experience has been disappointing. In maneuvering through features, I found it no different from a standard non-membership. There was no real increase in visible profiles. The search features do not work at all, even using current online members as samples to confirm results, only received a “no match” responses when I knew otherwise based on active members at the time. I did reach out to developer regarding issue and potential refund if features are not available, only to be disregarded and redirected by developer to iTunes, which gave me no options for a refund request. My impression is the developer is only looking to make money off people who will settle for subpar services, versus offering any resolution to an issue. In my opinion, membership is not worth it. April 2020.

Unusable now. GROWLr used to be the best app for finding bears, cubs, and their admirers. I met my long-term partner on there in 2015! Since then, the app has gone downhill quickly. It only opens without crashing occasionally, and when it does, it takes forever to function. I constantly lose messages, profiles and photos don’t load, and there are ads everywhere that make navigating the app nearly impossible. Moreover, the majority of messages that I receive are from spammy robo-accounts. Every time I download it, I delete my account within 24 hours because the app is so unusable. Overall, a terrible user experience, which is tragic considering how good and fun it used to be.

Anonymous viewing setting keeps getting reset. Every time you totally close the application and re-launch it, the anonymous viewing setting gets reset to its default of “Off” without any indication that this is happening (except getting a lot more viewers. :-P) This is quite bad… especially since there’s been a bug that forces the app to be closed several times to remove badge notifications that are lingering even after all messages are read.

Not just an App. GROWLr is not just an app, it’s a community where we can meet people in our local areas and around the world. Ive met some really great friends here. I love the streaming. While I don’t stream myself I love going into them interacting and I do like the box. Our streamers do a great job with content, entertaining us and engaging the viewers. There is so much more I can say but overall it’s a great community and I love being a part of it. Woof!!

Scammers and Bots. I’ve been a member off and on for years. That being said the last few months with out fail, every time i log in i get hit by scammers and bots. I don’t have this issue with other gay social apps. If this doesn’t get resolved by the time my annual renewal is up next month i will not be renewing my paid membership and deleting my profile and the app. There have been very little if ANY visible improvements made to this app in ages, it feels as if it’s been left in the dark ages. Colour me not impressed.

Can’t access site. For over A week I haven’t been able to connect to the site it comes up and says can’t connect it won’t connect bears , friend list and messages others I have talked to have the same issue I tried accessing help from the site and I can’t find a way to report what is happening I keep getting notifications of my profile being viewed but can’t pull anything up directly. Can anyone here help or refer me what to do?

Needs work. These developers have basically kept their app the same. They have not evolved it as Scruff has. Not being able to ‘swipe left’ to go through profiles is so much easier than going back to the main Menu each profile viewed and I’ve written to them twice And they still stick to the same format. The ‘chatting’ on here is limited to mainly major gay bear social events or people sending ‘shouts’ it’s no where near as interactive as any of the other chat apps. Maybe a better bear app will surface, maybe Growlr will listen…time will tell.

Adds now even when you are a member. So in the last few months I noticed adds popping up. As a paying member this is a new thing to see. But the adds seem to be targeted at different targeted audience other then what the app is for. Not sure what happened in the last few months but a lot more adds now. Not worth paying 15$ a month if they now make paying members see the adds now and some are up to 30 seconds. Can’t give the app a good rating now.

Fix The Notification Badges and The Sounds. I pay for your pro membership, and I cannot get the badges to clear. this has been a persistent problem for years and at this time you fixed it. also, you have to turn the sound off because with the sound on when you open the app it makes the sound twice. This is ridiculous. You only need the alert sound once. and the volume is so loud that it alerts the entire county. I don’t need people in the next town, knowing that I’m on a growler.

Bots and No Pics and a General Decline. You have got to address the growing number of bots. I see that the number of bots has not been addressed. Bots posing as military guys is killing the site experience. Also, the sheer volume of people with no pictures should be monitored and ultimately a requirement. I have been a pro member for a number of years. The general decline on this paid site is noted. What are you doing to make this a better experience?

Constantly losing messages. If you click on a new message notification right as it comes in, oftentimes the message doesn’t show when the app loads and it literally just vanished into thin air, leaving someone hanging thinking you’re a jerk for not responding. The person who sent the message also doesn’t show up in your viewers, so you can’t reach out that way either. Combine that with the super ugly design that hasn’t changed in 15 years and the lack of new features has me using Scruff and other apps a lot more these days. I’m going to deactivate my subscription if things don’t change soon.

Great Potential. The new live video does has great potential. There still is a lot of spam on the app. With the live video for no reason the comments just stop. I see more people joining but the join comment doesn’t even appear, which makes me think it’s a bug and people aren’t just talking. Plus people have told me they were commenting when nothing appeared. UPDATE: The latest update even introduced more bugs. They don’t seem to be interested in fixing any issues in seeing because it’s probably working for most. All they say is make sure the app is up to date, log out, force quit and log in again. It doesn’t work but that’s their answer for any issues. Really makes me wonder why I’m paying for premium

Don’t even know anymore..... I like using this app, but what’s been happening is extremely frustrating. The app will log you out at any random time and require you to put in a password. Fine... I can do that. Then when you put it in, it’s not correct. So then you have to clock on a link to reset it. No biggie.... you do that. You reset the password. Then the password you reset it to doesn’t work. I reset it. Wait 10-15 minutes for it to update before trying to log back in and it still doesn’t work. 6 hours of this happening today alone. Even copy and paste from a note to change the password and put it in the app doesn’t work. Really? Don’t waste your time with this app. Go somewhere else.

This app is crap. This app is crap! They are more focused on the video feature than the messaging feature now. It locks you out constantly asking you to log in. It constantly crashes. Currently it says I have 4 messages that seem to mysteriously disappear. But the little number icon won’t go away!! It’s absolutely a piece of garbage. Quickly declining app. I will start off by saying this app has the best community of users by far over others. That being said, the quality of the app has rapidly declined over the past year or so, with the past few months being a drastic plummet. I don’t know if it’s the pandemic or what, but I won’t be renewing my Pro subscription after this month because the app constantly says a connection is not available, is slow to load profiles, or makes you log in again. I’ve also started getting messages that there’s unusual activity detected from your IP address, so it makes you go through a whole Captcha process to even try to log in again.

Broken Modbot. I’ve noticed the Modbot system feature is severely broken, this app caters to bears and chubs of all sizes however the system is flawed twink a are allowed to parade in jockstraps and underwear but as soon as a chin or superchub is on livestream shirtless they are banned for inappropriate sexual activity!!!! Twinks and small bodied users are jerking off on camera without any banning, there are racists users enter livestream channels calling P.O.C N1gg3rz and slaves and other offensive terms, there are ppl praying on the mentally disabled to scam them out of their disability checks to buy diamond packages for these ridiculous contests that have been popping up every week at this point throw the whole app away CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE OR THIS APP NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE APP STORE ENTIRELY

Disappointed with the design and the experience. The user experience of this app is absolutely horrible. I appreciate the “updated features” but the app design looks like it’s meant to be run on a 2005 phone. They clearly are not investing in design or even care. The app crashes frequently and often signs you out automatically and you lose all your conversations. Terrible quality. The functionality of the app is mediocre at best and the user experience severely lacking. I did however enjoy that the app is useful for meeting people in the bear community and for men with more to love. But I went on several dates and it did not meet my expectations. I am deleting and trying something else.

It’s going down hill...quickly. It used to be a pretty decent app but it would appear that it’s current owners do not care as much about its user base. Constantly getting scam bots sending messages with no info from owners if that will be resolved. Constant struggle with text field removing the send option if you use emojis sometimes. Now experiencing issues where I have to log in constantly even after their update of having “addressed” that issue. They’re more focused on trying to get people to pay for premium than actually updating and maintaining their application so it doesn’t break or you don’t get bombarded by scam accounts.

The problem with GROWLr. There is no way to report spam user accounts. You sign in and get inundated with spam bots trying to get you to sign up for other services. It makes the already bloated, slow, and awkward app a total waste of time. They need to cut out all of the crap that literally no one ever uses and add a button to their Ii that allows you to easily report a bad account. It’s gotten so bad lately that I just don’t even use it. They need to update and fix these problems. It feels like the owners licensed the same white label software that 90% of these apps use and then just collected the funds they made without modifying anything. It feels like 1990s abandonware.

Don’t waste your time and money not worth it. Let me be frank with Y’all. This app used to be really good years ago and it was all about hooking up and dating someone you met. Now it just got worse and ruined with a straight compony that bought cause they allow so many scam bots, and the live streams which growlr. Face it this app isn’t about hooking up anymore. Yes you get a few messages but they aren’t with someone near you it’s always someone far from you. I wish it was owned by the original company to make it better like it once was. This is the reason I quit using it.

Suspended and then reinstated. For some unknown reason GROWLr suspended my account on August 12, 2019. I sent them several emails asking why. I had absolutely no response. Today August 14, 2019 I’m back on. None of my pictures were objectionable and my profile doesn’t have anything in it that would warrant me being suspended. There are so many scam artist roaming around growler and they suspend me for no reason. I’m letting everyone know just Incase it happens to you. They removed all my pictures and I had to re-write my profile.

Bad update and more. I used to love this app. I have noticed less and less guys in my area. With this new update they have “Live” members at the top. Why use that space? There is a “Live” tab at the bottom of the screen if I want to explore that!! Also, they need to find a way to keep chats because if you get a new phone or have to delete/reinstall all chats are deleted. I use other apps where this doesn’t happen. And furthermore, I can’t scroll when I’m editing the free text in my profile. I contacted them several times and the only answer was to delete/reinstall. Didn’t fix the problem and all my chats were gone. No wonder there are less and less guys using this app!

Poor Customer Service Support!. I expected to be treated better through their customer support. The once joyous user experience I had is gone. NO ONE answers or personally responds to emails regarding faulty photo reports. I’ve tried for MONTHS to get an issue resolved and all I’ve gotten are formed responses. There needs to be better resources for members who paid the high premium for their yearly subscription services. As of now anyone (including bots) are able to report and take down your photo. It would be nice if there was a person who reviewed these issues or a way to appeal the reported photo. NOT HAPPY. I would hunt for a better solution than this app that is only concerned about getting paid and not the user experience.

New reduced area for non paying subscribers. If you live in a small to medium city, you know is difficult enough to meet new people already, so dating apps are supposed to help. Well, GROWLr was an ok app, even with the annoying bugs of missing messages and not updating conversations between devices. But after a recent update I can only see guys in my area up to 5 or 6 miles. The app was semi usable before but I don’t know what use i can get from it with this new update, considering the other more popular, and less restrictive apps. I refuse to pay because as I say, small city problems, I get close to no benefit from it already. But it is what it is.

Crappy upgrade. Ok let me start off with this. I do enjoy the app in general. However since v11.1 came out this app has been crap. It constantly crashes says I have messages and the only way to check them Is to log out and log back in and the thumb nail pics are horrible. You can hardly see them any more. As of right now this program is unstable and hope the developers listen and fix these issues with the next update.

Tired of Lies. So, if you don’t open the app for a few days, you get a notification that your account will no longer be “active” unless you open it back up. Perhaps we have different definitions for what that means. I have been off for several months before. When I redownloaded and opened it back up, nothing changed. It’s as if I had never left. Not a good selection of men (due to location and limits by the app itself) and a little surprised at the childish approach to the design. And too many ads. For my area, it’s simply not worth the expense of paying for a subscription. Want to see a message, ad. Open up the app, ad. See viewers, ad. Sometimes less is more.
