💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

Crammed full of ads. I tried this app but it has ads EVERYWHERE to the point that it’s unusable.

Good stories and sports. Keeps me caught up I'm 1000miles away Feels like home

Glitches when scrolling. I like the news and features but I can’t stand how it constantly jumps you up to the top of the feed, or the top of the story you are reading. So frustrating and makes me close the app.

Was great until.... The app made it impossible to install. It freezes on the notification request screen.

home depot ad. i cannot stand the home depot ad that keeps playing while i'm reading a news bulletin. i have to close out of the app and then close the app by swiping upwards then reopen the app to continue reading the story. isn't there another way to create revenue instead of playing ad's?

Never refreshes. Home page stays the same for weeks and weeks

GOP ads on the Globe? Removed.. Who at the Globe thought that Boston readers would want to see lying and even grammatically incorrect GOP seditionist ads on their feed? Uninstalled.

None of the news. None of the news stays in the place when you scroll

The best news/ sports online. The best of all the rest for news, happenings, sports, weather, lots of great information. Lots of good stories and questions for all of us readers. Comment section is great also.

Need more updates. Same lead stories can linger for days. Coverage too limited. If you don’t follow sports not much there.

News doesn’t refresh. The front page doesn’t refresh and you have to click more news to get recent news but there isn’t much there. Don’t waste your time with a download.

Useless unless you pay for subscription. You can't get many of the articles unless you pay for Boston Globe subscription. Not worth it.

Format. The format is not appealing and does not give the visual effect of trying to attract the viewer to stay on

Fake news. Not reliable

The very worst of Newspaper Apps. It goes without saying that the Globe App is among the worst there is. It essentially provides headlines, unless one is a subscriber to their newspaper.

Fabulous!. Great app!

Not timely or relevant updates. Not exactly the app to get latest updates.

Not so good. Doesn’t refresh often

Just the facts, ma’am!!!. Articles sparsely contains information. Liberal bias clearly evident. Just want the facts, ma’am!! I’ll make up my own mind based on THE FACTS!!! Geeze!

App works fine for me. As a transplanted Bostonian living in Alaska, I am glad I can still read some articles for free. Keep up good investigative reporting on the plight of underserved people.

Cheaper than a trip to Havana. Same progressive rhetoric you can find in the Boston Globe.

To the left wing globe. Does President Trump do anything right? Is the country better off since Obama left office? You are a bunch of hypocrites!

Transplant from Newport, RI to Albuquerque for almost 50yrs. Nice to have good information!!!. Thank You Go Pat’s, Bruins, Celtics, & Red Sox

Old news.. Old

Sports. Best sports section in Boston

Out of touch. The once venerable newspaper still attempting to charge for articles? Proves they don't get it and apparently never will. Your medium is dead. Dead and gone.

Hard to navigate Newsfeed since update. Since an update a couple of months ago, scrolling down the newsfeed is very buggy - when scrolling down you end up going back up to newer articles. This is probably due to ads loading or something

Broken with latest iOS update. Crashes immediately or shortly after launching.

Same content over and over. Your headlines are the same thing over and over. When you click more news there only 10 or so articles terrible.

Great. Really good at summarizing news and sports. Real news. Not goofy fluff or agenda driven stories.

Favorite news source. Enjoying keeping up with Boston news and the Red Sox down here in Florida.

Disappointing. No sports scores just old articles. News stories not as good even as tv news. Annoying repeated pop up ads

Feedback. I’m reading info from last week. Bruins story about beating Las Vegas. How about an update on Josh Gordon?

Stale News. The news in this app is not updated frequently. The same “news” articles often appear for many days. Not much effort is made to update it.

Bad links. Site is very slow and every time I click on a story there is a 404 error and says retry whether I am on the Mobil site or desktop.

Business analysis management. Wonderful app😀 The news content is current and up-to-date. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Helpful news app. Unlike many reviewers, I don't expect to get full access for free. I want the Globe to stay in business.

Flawed App. The app has many issues with both design and usability. Articles should be able to be read in full not in part. The app is constantly rebooting/refreshing itself while you are using it.

Obits. Why were obituaries removed?

Best progressive newspaper. Stories always approached and covered critically but fairly. High marks!

Incorrect and Missing Words. Proofread, proofread, proofread. This is not a Twitter feed. Neither is The Boston Globe. By the way, this is also the first time in five years that your Review and Rating system has worked online and accepted feedback.

Required reading for Bostonians. Great way to stay up to date on Boston news.

Worst app. Don’t even give up to date news and note this review find is white on white so I can’t even read what I’m writing. A bit pathetic.

Recycling of old stories. Take old stories and reports off the main page after a few months. Cover more and varied stories. Hire a few more reporters.

Clickbait App. The app requires you to click a link to access any article, allowing for more clicks for their website. The articles should load in the app without having to jump through hoops. Their advertisers should be wary of this as this is artificially boosting their clicks.

Great News about Ortiz. I looked have a Boston news network after hearing about Ortiz shooting and am happy to have a Boston Connection to great news stories. Thanks for your great coverage 👍

Not very good. Limited info. Good stories require you to go to Globe pay for site. Still uses a pic of Papi as the Sox icon.

No articles. Where are the articles? Site/app used to have full articles

Useless. Most news links are days old and it's really just a hook to Boston Globe articles which you have to pay to subscribe to. Don't waste your time.

Stories don't update. Could be much better. All the app does is promote a subscription to the Globe

Slanted news. Disgraceful

Disappointing from a former news leader. As a former paperboy for The Globe it breaks my heart to see what has happened to the world of print except for maybe three papers nationwide. Circulation is down and more people are getting their news in other ways...fair enough. But this is an opportunity to make your digital presence count. The Boston Globe still carries clout. It has a few good writers left...why is this site so sloppy and terrible to navigate? Articles are plastered in there without consideration that digital platforms are different. How many times do we see codes instead of pictures? Fragments of articles? References to things that don't exist on the app' article? I even wrote a letter to the editor, two of them...no response. I miss Boston and I still return to this app only be frustrated by the lack of effort and editorial attention of the information transmitted. How the mighty have fallen and how clear The Globe, a once proud new source, does not care at all.

The Globe needs an iPad app. I have been a loyal Boston Globe reader for 35 years - mostly the paper edition. The Globe provides the best news in Boston, particularly its sports coverage which no one does better. However, this app is wholly inadequate and provides only a fraction of the content it should. I understand that we can pay for the e-Globe but the Boston Herald provides all its content for free. The Herald also has a dedicated Sports app that is organized by each team. I hate to say it, but I now rarely read the Globe and instead have turned to the Herald. I never thought I would ever switch but the Boston Herald apps are giving me my Boston news and sports...

Worth getting especially if you're local. I love the full-screen reading option, which cuts down the swipes it takes to get through a story.

Pretty bad, do they even read these?. I've been meaning to write a review for this site. I don't like to write reviews, but this is one exception. See, I like reading the news on my phone and am always amazed how bad the Boston app is. Where to begin, from the countless random ads that appear right above or below a news story, the same photos that appear as placeholders at the beginning. Again, the number of ads (some a bit risqué...) that are directly above or below a news story and disguised as a news story. It's just bad. Not enough content, not enough of a change of articles. Come on Boston. Is your site run by toddlers? You're telling me that in a city infused by top notch colleges, this is the app you're standing behind (and on top, and below, really, can you stop with those ads??). I spend less than a minute on this app, always opening it up thinking someone that works there finally opened it up and realized how awful this app is and how it's in no way a news app to be taken seriously.

V 2.2 still NOT working on my iPad. I just took the new update to V 2.2, and it's still not working on my iPad. It starts to open, and then immediately shuts down. The last V worked on my iPod Touch, but would not work on my iPad. Haven't updated to the new V 2.2 on my iPod yet, so nothing to report about functionality there. I was really hopeful that I would be able to use this app once again, but only disappointment.

Worse and worse. This app was fairly good when it was brand new but has become worse and worse over time. It is still better than nothing for local news and weather. Full of strange code-like stuff and big ads that cascade open at random. An annoying app but I use it anyway.

Still after years, often functions poorly. Some days all the content in News is still from the day, or two days before. Some days the first 5-6 stories are new and all the rest area by days old. Not enough serious news like the Globe reports.

Surprisingly balky. Such smart writers at the Globe, yet the app developer can't after years come up with a user friendly interface to present available stories..app crashes when accessing some stories, plus video links and pics sometimes don't load AND news stories are often randomly grouped together. Time to hire a new app consultant and actually assign more staff to web translation of the print edition.

Just like home. Due to my health I left Boston years ago. Every morning this app lets me know what I'm missing. If I could afford to move back I would, but I can't so thank you for making my day with the Boston app it's the best Kevin E Sullivan Melbourne Fl.

Issues. I have always been a supporter of this app and look at it multiple times in a day. More recently, ads have popped up (which I understand) but you can't close them. I thought it was a glitch so i deleted and downloaded again and now the app won't even load. Fix the issues!

To many ads!. This app was quite useful until the last few updates. More and more ads began to show up. First it was a small banner on the bottom. Then came the pop up ads. Then came ads that scrolled like they were part of the news. Now all three types of ads are present. It's so bad now it's difficult to tell news from ads, not worth my time anymore.

improving. Digital papers are improving. the Boston Globe is in that tradition. Big stories are done very well. The secondary stories that are of interest are often lost. I find it useful when on travel or to keep up with a breaking story but it is not the same as the news paper.

And it's free!. There is an ink reader that charges a monthly fee for this app. I noticed if you hold your finger on the title and click open, it takes you to the article. Otherwise it just jumps back to the same screen. I would give it 4 stars because of that glitch, but because it's free and I am not paying a $15 + subscription fee monthly I am adding a star! Thank you Apple for not charging a monthly rate on your apps!

Too many ads and decrease in quality of news coverage. I used to really enjoy the content of this newspaper but have found that as of late the news covered is all about shootings and accidents. Additionally, there are extremely annoying pop up ads that cannot be closed.

Useful Content but Pitiful Application. I use the app twice a day as one of my sources for Boston sports. Unfortunately the app has gotten worse over time, which tells me that the application team sees no value in doing a good job on a free app. Then again it is free. I would love to see an iPad app developed but wouldn't dare old my breath. App. crashes when trying read articles from the sports section.

Articles are now just the first few paragraphs. The globe decided to castrate all articles in this app, with a link after each paragraph linking to the full site where you must buy an overpriced subscription. Furthermore, due to loading a new ad every few seconds and repeatedly turning on your GPS this app will burn 1% of your phone battery each minute you have it open! NYTimes company should use their NYTimes app for a desperate redesign of this horrible app.

Notifications don't link to stories. For a news app, this is all right. However, there is one feature that just drives me nuts. Periodically, the app will send out a notification for breaking news. When I click on the notification, it should take me to the story about that particular subject. Instead, it just takes me to the main page, and I have to search for the story. And often I can't find it.

Love it. Living in AZ I love this App.

Very helpful ap. Overall the ap is great. Things to improve on: you need to keep the articles more current. Remove them after a day or 2. In the traffic section can you show my current location on the map so I can see where I am in a traffic jam.

Liberal leaning rag. Read above

Constantly refreshes. With the new update the main pages constantly update again and again. Super annoying! Also I wish that when after you look at a story and then hit "back" it wouldn't take you back to the top of the main page but rather to where you had clicked on the story.

Glad to have this app. Just subscribed to Boston Globe online after watching Spotlight. Even though I've lived in and around Boston for over 20 years, did not appreciate the professional local journalism till now. I am happy to have this available and the app works quite well for me. Not sure what the complainers are comparing it to. I also get Washington Post and NYT. Globe is just as good.

Needs better QA. This app not only crashes but simple user interfaces that should work if proper QA was done would do wonders for this app. Besides the ads that now screw up the screen and don't show any content, when you pick a story, may it be in the middle of the articles, the system always takes you to the top of the page, not where u left off. Aggravating. PS check the spelling in your stories.

Needs a lot of help. This app needs a lot of help, and I actually think it's gotten worse from when I first downloaded it. There are too many ads, and often when I'm skimming the headlines, something happens where it almost inserts a new ad, making me lose my spot. The stories are always missing pictures and have a filler of random text, making the story hard to follow. For a while, I couldn't even open the "News" section so no news for me. This app needs to take a note from the NYTimes app, which has been wonderful and a great resource on the go.

Almost just right. They must have removed the pop-up ads because I don't see any. Wish the site had commenting and brought in the web comments. My favorite thing on the web with a standard cast of characters.

Sorry to write this but,. This app is becoming less useful by the day. Parts of the sports section haven't been updated in months. Without progress soon, I will have to drop this from my phone

wish it were better. Not reliable. Sometimes content is blank. At other times, app keeps reloading content, which prevents articles from being read. Then, after reading an article,

Ruined it with ads. This used to be a good local news app. When they added ads they ruined it. "more top stories" and "feedback" buttons are now beneath an ad, so you can not get to them. Some pages don't always feed properly, which I think is related to the ads as well, very frustrating and disappointing

The Globe is a propaganda organ of the US Democrat Party.. The Globe hides the truth from its readers.

Please get better. The update is an improvement but still there are big gaps. Why refer to photos that are not being shown? Also show us some news that we really care about. Has the boston Globe become a gossip rag?

An embarrassment. Biased, PC, liberal crap.

Most frustrating App I have. There is nothing technically functional about this app. It is so frustrating to have to swipe 14 times (yes, I just counted) to get back to where you were reading in an article. It randomly brings you to the top of the article or back to the home screen and makes it impossible to read anything 100%. Please tell me there is an upgrade with major fixes coming soon.

Gives me the news in a quick way-but lots of problems. When a link is mentioned it is NEVER there. Soooo frustrating! The news item is then not complete. I would like the categories back, ie: World, Local, etc. Whomever is editing this site is napping big time!!! Oh, some stories have a headline but the story is NOT there! What's up with that???

Not updated enough. 4/25 update. This app is embarrassing for the Boston Globe. Doesn't anyone on the staff or higher ups use the app to see how terrible it is or read reviews to see how people experience the app? Now, videos just start with volume when you click on an article. Boston Globe must have subcontracted this out and clearly don't care. On top of it all, stories are stale and poorly selected, written and edited. Fake news is abundantly available from their 'friends' (paid placement of articles). No wonder it is failing. 4/6/17 update. The same stories are sometimes there for 3 days. Lots of typos, and it seems like the person writing the stories is an adolescent. Also, why can't we swipe left to the next story instead of having to go back to the list of stories every time we read one? It is less convenient to us but seemingly adds extra clicks to their website. Update: even glitchier and more frustrating Another update: fewer stories, more ads. They don't have metro section anymore, having replaced it with 'weather wisdom'. If they take out most of the local news, there are better news apps out there.

Good news poor app. Way to many adds and there all integrated into the articles. This app was way better two or three versions ago. Someone has to tell the weather guy that his pictures never come out right and we can never tell what he is talking about when referencing the pictures. Can you relaunch the app three or four upgrades ago??

My Review. Papers are to write as a journalist not as a hack for the DNC

Quick! Call the web police!. Without a doubt a terrible website in every way but especially so in its technical performance. Spend some time browsing the site and you will be totally uninspired to ever subscribe to its big brother, The Boston Globe for even the modest fee. Technically, as unsound as could be. Stories go unfinished and even coverage of local pro sports teams often go missing for 24 hours or more after the game has ended. It's as if there are no humans running the site at all. It's that bad.

Great App - unsure about other reviews. I was originally turned off by the host of poor reviews, but I have to say, I've had a different experience. It's intuitive, easy to navigate, and provides links to all the relevant articles. A great way to read the Globe's high quality content. My only complaint: this app is visually crowded, and feels a little overwhelming. Other than that, highly recommended.

what a waste of effort. the Boston Globe has a globe reader application powered by adobe air. all summer they were advertising a boston globe ipad version available in the fall. Still waiting. thought maybe this could suffice. the screen shots are inadequate to make an informed determination as to whether or not to download this app. I am running it on the ipad. the new version 3.4. it shows up on the ipad as a small iphone screen size with no way to enlarge with good clarity. when you 2X in the bottom of the ipad screen it does enlarge, but blocky graphics and significantly decreased clarity. also, the link for feedback does not work. all other links seem to work but not feedback so I concur with prior reviews that this is not worth the effort. also you cannot read comics and that was my whole point in downloading, but as stated, the write up on what you can and cannot access is insufficient. obviously they do not want feedback either.

Latest Update a Failure. I was psyched when I read the description of the latest update. When I click on a notification, it would go right to the article. It still doesn't. Not only that; when I click the notification "bell button", it ALWAYS says, "notifications up to date" with no articles/headlines listed. All the update provided was a useless "bell button" that does nothing!

Used to be a great app but is now irrelevant.. This app is slow with the news and very frustrating to use. It used to be my go-to app a couple of years ago and now I miss those days. I gave it 4 stars a couple if years ago, but now it is at 1 star as there is no zero star option. It is eye appealing but oddly hard to navigate. The news is anything but up to the minute and oftentimes the pages are blank. The ads are also dominant over the news by a large degree. Pick any other news app and it will be better than this one. Bring back the good old days!!

Constant Craaher!. This app has been around for a while, and I cannot quite believe that absolutely nothing has ever been done to improve it! Crashes constantly, and the features really need to be improved upon. Why doesn't the globe spend a little money, and and at least stop it from crashing? Unbelievable!

Amazing!. How is it that you release a new version that crashes within seconds and you don't have a fix immediately available? Your programmers don't work weekends? Is this an attempt to make us buy the printed paper? I'm buying the Herald. Update 10/3: new version 2.2! Great! Too bad it STILL CRASHES! Globe announced new pay site in the future. I won't pay for that until the free stuff works...

Gs. Great stuff.

Works just fine. I normally rely on reviews, but I don't understand the negative ones here. This app installed quickly and works beautifully. Handy for keeping in touch while on the raid or not within reach of my globe.

Poor UI.... What happened to this app over time? Whoever designed this new UI ruined it. I can't find things and worst of all, the ads are made to look like news stories. Oh it might say "advertisement" in small letters but you are halfway through reading it thinking it's news when you realize it's an ad. Guess what: when that happens to me, that merchant is officially on my "black list/do not buy." Do yourself a favor : go to the Channel5 WCVB app... They do it right ...,

Waste of time. Unable to download anything. Keep on getting error messages. I used to look forward to go on this app. If you go to their more section you cannot use the feedback as that is covered by an ad. Totally FUBAR.

Crashes all the time. If I could give this app a zero star rating, I would. It crashes constantly. It opens, I read one item on the top news page and when I return to the top news page it crashes. It crashes other times too but this is the most consistent. In addition, many of the articles are left in place for weeks at a time. It doesn't appear anyone is managing the source data. The NY Times owns the Boston Globe but while the Times has a great 5 star app, the Globe's is barely usable.

A Little Disappointed. The app is little more than a wrapper for The Globe's iPhone site and offers very few additional features. While it is a very good mobile site, features like offline reading, integrated sharing, etc would make the app more useful.
