So much potential, but so little actual content. Has almost everything one can one except for a diverse food database. I paid for a service and am thoroughly disappointed.
Very good app
Would give more stars but the foods are limited plus they don't have a way to accurately read how much water you drink. Very lame you need a different app to count water and have a reminder to drink.
Would be 5 but...
I used to love MND!. I invested in the pro version a week after having it. This was over 6 years ago! Loved all the features. Used a lot of them through 2 pregnancies...I have been trying so hard to appreciate the changes and not complain about being downgraded from an app I had already purchased and was guaranteed future upgrades to use in its entirety.
But, I have had enough and need to find something not so costly. Especially after already ingesting and having quite a few friends join me.
I am sure anyone willing to pay monthly or annually will love this.
Disappointed with this app
I've use this app for about five years. I'm doing CrossFit now and this app does not help with muscle build. I am angry that entering eggs gives me a bad review. Eggs is what I need to build muscle is the protein that I need. These app is not using a current measurement system for food.
App so bad it gave me cancer
Tried entering a food and mid word it replaces the last character entered. I thought I hit the wrong button. I hit backspace and make sure I hit the correct letter. I hit I and an O shows up. This is a new low for handling user input.
Update - I tried entering in dinner. I had a Caesar salad from Fleming's. I entered flemings and saw their items are in the program already - great! I proceed to enter cesa - oh wait now it has changed that to "ceas fleminga." Come on just use what iOS already provides or at least prompt me and ask if I want to use "Poor Guessing Input Mode" on.
I cannot believe I bought this only to find
Money grabbers. Are you kidding? I bought this app expecting more than the other version and you give me nothing. Why even offer both. Very disappointed and will be warning others.
Fitne$$ tracking co$t$ even more
By Papa Spot
I am dumping MyFitnessPal because, once you finally figure out how to get it set up to talk to Fitbit, it works for one freaking day and then stops. So I decided to try this one. Even though I bought the PRO version, they still demand another sixty dollars a year to sync with fitness trackers.
Since I don't like being gouged, looks like I'll cut my losses AGAIN and keep looking.
Edited to add: Fool that I am, I bought the overpriced "premium" for this POS. It synced to my Fitbit for a few days, then stopped. Additionally, it says that I'm not connected to Withings, yet, when I try to connect, it says I'm already connected.
Not what it used to be

I came back to using the app after a hiatus and I find the subscription model has absolutely ruined this app. I get the need to make money but you took away many of the features that I paid for in the Pro version from a while back. Now you want me to invest again in features that may or may not be around later. What a shame. Take away what we have paid for and now require us to pay "Maximum" upgrade for features that were part of PRO (such as being able to make recipes, track macros, adjust our calorie goals for Protein, CHO, Fats). You offer no new features in Maximum that was worth paying for and so you had to steal those features from Pro to make us jump to the expense.
Came back to the app when I needed to start a food log again. I was pleasantly surprised by the updates since then. They brought back the measurements which allow you to weigh your food with a scale, you can track virtually EVERY macro and micro nutrient you want. You can import it to the iOS health app and have all kinds of info ad nauseum. Once again a fantastic app that covers everything you would need to manage and keep track of your food AND exercise. A must have app for anyone wanting a thorough app for fitness.
Many authors of apps, even the really good ones, often put out the program and never revise it more than what Apple requires them to do (e.g. update so it works with the latest iOS) but this group of people IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
Although it took a while to get the off-line entry option, they have been prompt with updating the app since that time. My issue with the macronutrients is fixed (as are many other complaints with the initial update). I am impressed that they don't have the "effort = money" attitude that so many developers have. I upgraded from the free to the paid version because I was so impressed with the interface. Although some say the livestrong app has a larger database, I have to say that the interface on the iPhone/iPod is horrible. Their website is great but entering on the portable version is a headache and it doesn't allow you to track macronutrients. This is the most complete app I have found out there and I hope it continues to stay the best. I look forward to future updates from this author.
Taking away basic functionality
Now I really do want net carbs and fiber. Not going to pay $60 annually for it. Hate to but it may be time to change apps.
Jan 2017 Excellent app. I do agree with those that object to paying $60 or so per year to use the maximum version. I use the pro version. I think I paid $5 years ago. And it does everything I need. Very occasionally I try to use a maximum feature. When prompted to pay monthly for that I ignore.
April 2016 still the best app. Spend a few bucks. You will not regret it.
I've been using this app for several years. It is the best app I've ever found for tracking food, exercise and weight. And I've tried them all and continue to try others.
April 2015. It just keeps getting better. 6 stars if you want to control food intake and exercise.
Good but Room for Improvement
By False Advertisement! Arghhhh!
The app is solid overall. Needs a vitamins/meds tracker. A specific recipe (builder?) section would be great.
A chart comparing calories/macros to bodyweight would be outstanding as it would directly show how cheat meals/days/weeks affect weight change.
Favorites should default to most popular/often consumed items and to be editable. Currently, the app decides what goes in your "dinner favorites" arbitrarily as there's things in there I hadn't eaten in forever. Which means I use search to find items I regularly use just as I would if they were new/seldom used. It'll still be a top result at least, but an unnecessary chore regardless.
Long time user, feel abandoned by MND
I'm not the type of user to usually write a review. I have been using MND since version 1.0 and loved it. I paid for Pro and loved that even more. I find the UI easier to use than MFP. I have used MFD daily for years. But now I have to pay for "Maximum" to get a lot of the features that used to be included in Pro. I just don't feel that the locked features are worth the price, and disappointed that I paid for Pro to get them and now they've been taken away and I have to pay again every month.
I feel ripped off and am switching to My Fitness Pal (MFP) so I can sync with my device for free.
They started charging me $8.99/month without my authorization. Keep an eye on your iTunes charges if you use this app!
