Too Many Errors. This is a great tool however I have discovered one or two question and answer errors that ASA has told me are wrong because they have not updated the questions to match the answer since an update has come out for the figures. I think a company as large as ASA should be able to quickly fix this so they do not continue to give the wrong information to prospective pilots.

Not bad could easily be better.. The questions are all here and it's simple to use with very few if any glitches. I think they could easily put a few more options in here like reading only the right answers and saving where you left off. Not bad but I went ahead and spent the money on dauntless ground school.

The app is alright. I like this app for what it is, but when I took the test, many of the questions were reworded or just brand new. For the time that I spent on this app studying, I expected no surprises. I also would like more features such as tracking your scores so you can see your progress and see how many practice tests you done in a day

Very helpful. I used this app to study for my FOI and FIA. It was really helpful. I recommend this app for studying.

Awesome. I own all the ASA prepware, have never failed a written. Even for non-pilot writtens like AGI and such. You do have to put a little more work into it, there are more questions on these than other preps but the practice tests give you the answers. Even the questions that aren't on the written still teach you quite a bit. For the money, you can't go wrong.

OUT OF DATE FOI QUESTIONS.. All the questions I had in the actual exam were not listed in this app.

No bueno for MCI. If your taking the MCI for CFI add-on, don’t waste your money with this app. The question bank is too large. Sheppard Air is the way to go if you only want to studying questions that will be on your test.

Great review app. Took my FIA Exam today, and passed, and owe a lot of credit to this app. It’s simple, but thorough, explains concepts well. The database is a little out of date, as there were some new questions I hadn’t seen the concept before.

FOI Questions Missing - Resolved. I purchased this app to help me study for the multiple CFI written exams and the first that I will be taking is the FOI exam. I cannot study for the FOI exam with your app because the FOI section only has one question. Please help! Tech support was able to help me to resolve my issue, so I’ve changed my rating, I can’t give it full 5 stars yet as I haven’t taken any of my written exams yet, but the outlook is hopeful. Thanks ASA!

Horrible. I used this prepware to study for the FOI and FIA. Many of the questions on the tests were reworded or were not in this prepware. As a result both test ended up with failing scores. For all my other ratings (private, instrument, instrument instructor, and commercial) I used the "red book" and had no trouble passing the tests. This purchase was not worth the fees I had to pay to retake these tests. To retake these tests I used the trusted "red book" and had no trouble with passing the FOI and FIA

Not worth $10. This program crashes alot, I have yet to reach 100 questions without it crashing. And when it does crash, it doesn't save where you left off. Explanations to wrong answers are terrible. Lastly, question bank seems very small. Barely worth $0.99 in my opinion.

Finally!. Was waiting for ASA to release prepware for iPad! It has most of the same features as the pc software and the price is fantastic (compared to ~$40 per dauntless). Will re-review after I take my FOI, CFI-A and AGI

Good Prep Software. It’s good for studying the test questions, however I do not see a different study module for Basic Ground Instructor vs Advanced Flight Instructor.

Test Results. After using this prep software and consistently scoring 95+ for 2 weeks I took the FOI test and scored a 74. Afterwards I spoke with a flight school that does a lot of CFI training and they have experienced a large amount of students that scored the same way using most prep courses. The only product that had been used and the students scored close to their pre test prep scores was Gleim's products. This ASA app was convenient but I would not recommend it unless they caught up with current questions.

Very useful. I used this for my FIA and FOI and they are exactly the same as Sheppard Air, except Sheppard Air costs $45 and this only costs $10. I passed both of those exams a while ago. Whenever I was home I would use Sheppard Air but whenever I was out or needed a quick review, this app is useful. In fact, I would recommend using this one everytime.

Almost 5 stars. Prepware got me through my instrument and comm rating so I was very excited to have it on my iPod to study for my cfi writtens. Unfortunately it crashes often so taking a test is pointless. Quizzing is the way to go and works great until it crashes... easy 5 stars if it didn't crash.

Overview. First of all, I’d like to reflect that the questions in the app were NOT exactly like the questions on the FAA written test. They were similar and contained the similar ideas, but were not identical, like the way it used to be (I took my last FAA written in 2012). Since the ideas were similar, it still helped me to pass with a score of 86%. But in the future, I would like to use the app that preferably uses the same exact questions for practice. Also, like most here mention, the questions were not grouped by topic, but were all assembled into a single 271-question database, which was somewhat inconvenient.

One question in FOI!! Please help!!. There is only one question in the FOI section. This must be a mistake but the app support button takes me to a confusing website. Please help me

Solid test prep. This was my main source of test prep. I was very happy to see the questions on the actual FOI test were very similar to those practiced. While there were some that were different, or worded differently, the ideas were the same. Be sure to select FOI for the main menu as the FIA subject doesn’t have questions under FOI, that is something that should be changed, but it is there. Good luck!!

Recommend it!. Great test prep for CFI......figures are excellent. The only problem is if you are in a practice test and hit the back button.....it starts a new test.

Chapters are not separated into topics. I thought it would be just like the online prepware but it’s not. If you want to study FOI by topic you can’t, you have to study all 273 questions in one big quiz. I’d rather one topic at a time.

The colors are inverted.. The colors are inverted on my iPad and the word text is white on white. It’s so hard to see and study. The iPhone one is working. But on the iPad not that great.

Half way there.... Few things: All of the questions were not all there for the tests, they stay in the same order, does not update with FAA updates, wording for quite a few questions was different then actual exam. I tried this app for 2 different tests and was able to pass but I could get 95% on this app but with the actual exam being so different it left me with lower scores.

I recommend other Apps/Websited. This is the worst tool you can use to prepare for the test. The only thing food about it is you don’t need internet while using it.

Weak question base. The question base is too small. I'd prefer having more CFI-A questions rather than having questions for every CFI written exam...

Thank you ASA!. This update is great, and comes just in time. i have the Instrument version too. They used to crash on me occasionally, but with this update it's a lot more stable. It seems to be more responsive. I've actually tried to make it crash, and I can't get it to. Thank you ASA for improving an already great application! Look out Test, here I come!

Outdated IFR. Every other company has updated the question list and the figures, some on a weekly basis. FAA released new figures book in Feb yet ASA hasn't updated the app since the original release, as far as I can tell.

CFI Initial. Been using this prep software to study. It's been helping me to think a lot to fit the roll as a professional flight instructor. I try to answer the questions without looking at the multiple choice answers first and dig my way through my resources of materials to find the answer. Should be great practice for the real test.

It is better than nothing. By no means is this on par with ASA's written material, but it is nice to have it in my pocket to pratice whenever I have a spare few minutes. It hasn't crashed on me yet, but I haven't used it a lot either. The question bank does seem very limited. I would really like to see an option to focus on questions of a specific type. (wx, regulations, etc.) and maybe intergrate that into the test. If you miss a lot of a certain type of question it would be nice if it could pick up on that. Better explinations would really help also. After using this to prepare for the agi test I got a 72. The questions are NOT represenative of those on the actual test. This may be fine for the other sections, but does not work for the agi.

I passed. This app is adequate to get you prepared for the written exams, but it does not have every question that is on the real exam.

Great App!!!. Love the features, only thing I would fix is the crashing issue...I've made it through a few 100 question test but has crashed about 50% of the time.

Not the same as the test. 10 years ago when I took the commercial test, the questions and answers were identical to the test but recently when I took the cfi test after studying very hard for it on this app I took the test after scoring 100 at least five times on the app but when I took the test, the questions and answers were completely different for about 50% of the test in other words this app is pretty good, but I recommend for you to study the books as well.

Can’t see question number on iphone. I’ve used various asa test apps to study for all of my writtens. For whatever reason, the CFI study app on my iphone won’t show what question number I’m on which is a little frustrating. It would also be nice to do a mock test that pulls from all the subject areas but still allows you to see the answer without having to grade the test.

Ok, but could be better.. Decent app, I've used it for about 3 or 4 tests now and like it. I just think for 10 bucks it could have a few more features. I'd like to see the option to see only correct answers or be able to take a quiz on a single subject.

Nice program. I don't know why people are complaining about test bank questions. There should only be the amount of questions in the CFI test bank in fact that's what I don't like about prepware. Why include hundreds of questions that aren't even in the test bank?! Of this is for the sole purpose of studying for the written then it should have the exact same questions that are on the written. That's why I didn't give 5 stars, I noticed that the Asa questions were worded differently than the test question and saw questions that weren't in the test bank.

Used ASA Prepware for FOI Exam. I recently took my CFI Fundamentals of Instruction exam after studying with the ASA Prepware App. The database ASA are using in 100% out of date. Not a single question that was presented in the CATS test was featured in the ASA app. I have never been so unprepared going into a written test as I have after using tihs software. The ASA database is in urgnet need of being updated to reflect the current FAA question bank.

FOI Needs Categories. The FOI questions are not separated into categories. All the questions are in one big bank so every time you want to study them you have to study all 273 questions. It is hard to reach every question in one sitting. Then if you exit out of it the questions start over.

Not much here. Just the quiz. You’re not getting anything except the quiz transferred from paper to your iDevice. Don’t expect the answers to be any more explanatory, the diagrams to scale to the screen, or any of the numerous errors to be fixed or even annotated. If you write customer support with any issues, they will say “I can’t reproduce it,” and you’re out of luck. You would expect for $9.99 that they would do *some* work, but nope, you get an electronic version of paper.

Foi section. Only one question in the foi section. That’s the only reason I needed this app. Can I get a refund?

Great buy. I bought this APP thinking it was going to take me a week to study for my written. I got done with everything in a day and a half and got an 80%. Not bad for $10. I recommend this product because it is useful on the go and not have to bring your books with you.

Great. I am not sure what everyone else is talking about, maybe they have poor study habits. I use this app to prepare for my written test. I missed 2 questions and I was able to take the test in a short amount of time. Out of the 2 I missed, one was my fault, the other was a FAA "test" question. No excuse to barley pass with this app!

This is a tool not an easy button. I see a lot of bad reviews and the reality is that this is a supplement. You are studying to be a pilot so don’t be lazy and open your actual books! This is not meant to be stand alone study material. It is intended to give you an idea of what the test will look like and help you narrow down what areas you need to study more. I bought several of these apps back in 2016 and passed all my tests in the high 90s (private, instrument and commercial). I even recently used them to help me pass my tests for CFI and they did a great job of showing me areas that needed more attention after being out of school for several years.

Gets the job done. Sure it's not perfect, but for the price you can't go wrong. Like others, one of my main complaints was that the possible answers are always in the same order. I just took the FIA today and sure enough, the FAA didn't bother rearranging the answer choices either! I couldn't believe that all the answers were in the same order that they are on the app. This actually made it easier to take the test and I was able to get above a 90% on both the FOI and FIA. About 10% of the questions on the actual exam were not reflective of the ones in the app.

Study vs. Test. There doesn't seem to be any difference between the "study" and "test" functions.

Good app. At first I couldn’t find FOI questions, but turns out they actually exist in the app, but they are accessible only as a separate rating. This is quite confusing.

Disappointing. The study for the normal knowledge test helped, but the FOI questions have all been reworded and changed on the test so this study guide really didn't help much. I barely passed the FOI test. I would try other study material.

Study mode is pointless. Study mode should include a default option to only present the correct answer to a question, rather than multiple choices which are in obvious conflict with the basic learning principle of primacy and makes studying ineffective. It’s a fundamental and unnecessary shortcoming of this software.

Recommend. I love it, it helped me a lot to pass my faa knowledge exam. Thank u

Price is right. Pro: you get a lot of bang for the buck Con: there are a significant number of erroneous answers, and a delay between FAA and ASA updates; when I took the FAA exam only a small percentage of the actual questions were in the ASA pool. User interface slightly clunky; it is very easy to lose your work without warning if you pause.

Dark mode and FOI Catagories. Overall this is great it could use some updating and tweaks. First, the FOI really needs categories. Second, dark mode support is abysmal. If you have your iPad in dark mode you can barely see the fonts. I had to change my iPad back to light mode to use this app.

Very nice!. Great way to study and keep up to date!

Weak question base. The question base is too small. I'd prefer having more CFI-A questions rather than having questions for every CFI written exam...

Great App. Great one. Was able to carry it with me while traveling and study whenever possible, therefore maximizing my time. It is very solid. Only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because if you are studying or taking test and press the back key, it will erase everything. Otherwise is excellent.

Outdated. Questions are outdated.

Slightly Alright. No way to save specific questions for later review. Just a bank of questions,

IMPORTANT. DO NOT USE THIS TO STUDY FOR THE FOI !! they have changed 70% of the test. You will fail if you rely on this . They have changed the FOI, APT, and flight engineer test. And more changes are expected. So be careful KNOW THE MATERIAL !

Missing content. Incomplete and/or missing information in questions and explanation in iPad and iPhone 6 formats. Some Figures do not display completely or at all.

Incomplete Database. Contains ony a fraction of questions in the knowledge test database ...

Recommend. I love it, it helped me a lot to pass my faa knowledge exam. Thank u

Not a good app. Avoid ASA test prep softwares, their bank of questions are out dated. You have twice as many question to study compared to other app such Shepardair. They don't have any study strategy built into their app.

FOI. FOI questions are missing.
