Recent crashing. I’ve used this app for over a year now with about 70+ rounds. I’ve tried others but I prefer this one. It’s easy to put in your scores, move the distance marker around, and zoom around on the hole. However, since this last update, it’s been freezing and crashing. If I have to go back and edit a score.. when I click save it either freezes for like 20 seconds and then jumps back to the map or it will just crash and I have to reopen the app. Luckily when it crashes I can resume where I left off, and most of the time it updates the score I was trying to change, but it’s weird it does this now. Maybe it has something to do with the ads? It never did this before you guys put ads in it. Anyways, this is an accurate, detailed (if you need it to be) well designed golf gps and scorecard app. I recommend it

Tour Pro approved. SwingU App is your best bet when it comes to improving your golf game. Whether it’s using it as a rangefinder or for keeping stats, or both, SwingU allows the player to keep a record of their rounds and provide ways to improve your game as it pinpoints your strengths and weaknesses and gives the user video help from a certified pro to help you work on what is needed to improve your game. As a professional golfer on tour, I have seen dramatic improvement in my game as SwingU has become my yardage book, rangefinder and stat-tracker. Instant and proper feedback allows any player at any skill level to improve faster and more efficiently. Highly highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing app. I just started playing a couple years ago and wanted to try and take it serious this year. This app has been an absolute help on and off the course. The distances are near spot on and I love being able to track my clubs, keep a record of my scores, etc. I highly recommend this to any new and well veteran players. I couldn’t leave a 4.5 star but the only reason for me that it didn’t get a full 5 star review was that I wish they made the app a complication for the Apple Watch so I don’t have to keep on opening it up from my app list. Hope they change it!

Missing one feature. I have used this app for a full year and have recommended it to all my buddies. It is a great app! I would rate this app with 5 stars except I think it needs one feature added. I would like to be able to manually enter club distances. I sometimes forget to tag a club or I fail to finish the distance until I move to the next shot. I often know the distance, but just don't get it entered. Being able to manually enter my distances would ensure that I get more accurate club data. Please add this feature. Additionally, the Apple Watch version needs some work. For instance, the app automatically goes to the scoring screen when near the green. However, if you leave that screen, to finish tracking a shot for example, there's no way to go back to the scoring screen. Also, there is no way to delete a tracked shot if you shank one and decide not to track it. If you have already entered the club, you have to delete it from your phone. In fact, I still have to keep my phone within easy reach, because the phone app version is so much more user friendly. I could not accurately score a round with just the watch. I would also like to see the Apple Watch version use its own GPS and not the phone’s. I think this would improve the speed of the app since it’s slower than other apps I have tried. One more thing. It would be nice if the Apple Watch version would automatically track a golf workout in the Workout app Please upgrade. Thanks.

Quit working on my Apple Watch. I really liked the app and all the funtionality. The overhead satellite shots and distance calculation seems to be second to none. It had a really great interface with my watch, and gave me front middle and back of green distance. Also incredibly easy to enter in scores and know where you are in the round. Recently I found that a local course did not match up with my scorecard. I went on the website to edit the golf course, and they did have the correct information on their website. However, in my app the back nine was incorrect for nearly every hole. Their support got back to me quickly, but something is not right between the scorecard on my app and what they show on the website. For the last three weeks, I have not been able to use my Apple Watch with the app. I work for a company that uses Apple exclusively, and I’m all up-to-date with the latest technology. I’ve gone online and spent half an hour going through mediocre instructions on how to set up the watch. It is all to no avail. It’s very frustrating having to pull out your phone all the time and not be able to use your watch. I am going to try GolfLogix. If the watch functionality works, it has five stars. Without the watch, three stars at best. To be clear, I used this for a year and a half with no problems, then all of a sudden around the beginning of June my watch no longer worked with the app.

Apps great… but recent issues with Apple Watch. I had this app for over a year now and for the most part it’s been great. Recently however, I can not get it to launch on my Apple Watch. This started around the time of the update. It crashes every time. I’ve checked to make sure my devices are up to date, as well as deleting the app and reinstalling. Sorta at a loss at this point. One thing that would be nice to add would be to have the ability to link with your GHIN account. Not having to enter 1 round into both apps would be a nice feature.

Tough to rely on. You’ll need a strong cell signal for it to work consistently for 18 holes. It has crashed out on me regularly in frisco tx. There is a strange default to using “always” for location that absolutely kills an iPhone 11 battery in 11-12 holes. It even drained my battery while it was using a usb charger during a round. The elevation data is pretty straightforward, but the wind data seemed to update in a delayed fashion, I am guessing it updates every 10-15 minutes. Some shots, wind is clearly howling and app reflects that and gives you a good “plays like” yardage, but there are too many readings where the wind is clearly not as shown in app- like a flat flag and it’s showing 20 mph indicating the wind readings are not real-time, and the “plays like” yardage can be off by 20-30 yards. Maybe it’s just Texas winds...but the advertised accuracy taking into account wind and elevation, which is why I purchased, is simply not reliable. Disappointed and would take a refund if offered.

Great and easy to use FREE version. Have been using this app all summer. Works great and has detailed course layouts. Have found that the distances are pretty accurate for hazards and lies. Was able to find all of my local Northern Nevada courses. Calculated my handicap after three full rounds and has adjusted it as I’ve entered info. The ONLY issue I have, is that there are a few courses in Tahoe that have a smaller par (66, 68). Playing those didn’t recognize the par score there being smaller instead of the standard 72. So shooting a 78 on a par 66 calculated it in relation to a 72 and drastically lowered my handicap. I had to exclude it from my calculation, which surprisingly was possible through the app. Just wish it would recognize those scores for what they were rather than in relation to 72. But otherwise an amazing app that I use every time I go out. The paid version would allow for better distance calculations, such as “plays like” and “club recommendations”. But for me the free version has been fantastic. Having the accurate course layouts has taken some real strokes off my game. I’m so close to breaking 80.

Great app small issues. I downloaded the app because I wanted distances to the green from anywhere and this has yet to disappoint. Actually was better than I expected as it gave front, middle, and back pin distances. It was within 2-4 yards of a range finder so that was a huge plus. The only downside is it would freeze occasionally on the phone which made the watch not show distances. I really wanted it to use my watch and not keep my phone in my pocket. So every now and then through a round I would have to close the app on my phone and reopen it for it to work on my watch. Still less of a hassle than guessing distances or buying a range finder.

Frustrating. The free functions are great if not a little buggy. The bird’s eye view allows you to see yardage from the tee and any point you choose on the hole. When on the course it will tell you yardage from where ever you are to the flag. There are a lot of courses too. All courses in my area, including a small municipal course, are on the app. The frustration is with the paid features. It’s supposed to let you track shot yardage. You select the club you are swinging then tell the app you are starting of the shot. Once you swing, you walk to the ball then end your shot to record yardage. This option is very buggy. Sometimes it doesn’t start recording the swing. Other times it doesn’t end the swing. At times yardage from a second shot seems to record back to the tee giving crazy yardage— I’m know I cannot hit my 4 iron 300 yards. The score keeping feature has bugs as well. Keep a paper score as backup if you care about tracking your rounds. This could be a great app but there a lot of issues with bugs making the app for unreliable for anything but yards to the green.

Awesome App. I have tried most of them and this is the one I have landed on for the past 2 years. I have logged over 130 rounds with it so I believe i have a really good idea what the program can do. The basic app is great for scorecard a d putts per round. You can also measure your shot, but not save data. To unlock the full potential you need to upgrade to Looper. Yes their is an annual fee but if you are serious about tracking where you are going it is far cheaper than one lesson. You can track multiple stats, measure AND SAVE distances with each club in your bag. It also will give you advice on shots based on wind conditions and using average distances charted (be careful and dont use in usga events). I have found yardage’s are spot in although if Verizon is your carrier sometimes a few yards off from time to time but that is Verizon not the program. All in All i have found this to be top of the class in this space !!!

High hopes, but Not so much..... With high hopes for a good GPS function that syncs with Apple Watch, I’ve given this app several months and rounds. You have to keep the phone on and with you (in range of watch), and with all settings as recommended by Seller, the phone part works ok with distances, flyovers, etc. It’s interface with the watch is at best spotty, and often needs a swipe, reboot, or other maneuver to get the data to display on the watch, even in areas with strong cell signals. Using the scoring function was also variable; sometimes it took the data entries, sometimes not, and then needed essentially a restart to get to the data entry screen. Pretty annoying to have teed off the next hole and find the app is stuck on the prior hole. I often turned off the scoring function, as it was frustrating, inconsistent and too much trouble overall. On a course you don’t know, the phone’s hole diagram and flyover could help. On a familiar course, it is “meh” at best. I’m happier with my several years old Bushnell Neo GPS watch every day.

Disappointed with the Apple Watch app. Have used SwingU on the iPhone for quite awhile. It has been a pretty good free app for gps distances and scoring. However, I just got an Apple Watch series 5. I was looking forward to the phone app, but have been VERY disappointed in how it functions. My phone holster is a horizontal holster , and as soon as I put the phone in the holster the watch loses the gps yardage. This is because the scorecard replaces the yardage screen immediately when rotated. There is no setting to turn this off. If I have to pull the phone out of the case to make it vertical, then I don’t need the watch app. The watch doesn’t very often provide the yardage under these circumstances. I can’t be the only one with a horizontal belt phone holster.

Crashes if you try to access help. I haven’t tried it on golf course yet, as I haven’t a clue how to use it. I paid for the premium program. If you go to settings and click on any help or tutorial it flips you back out to your iOS home screen. I hope I can give this a higher rating after playing, but for now I feel I may have wasted a fair amount of money for nothing. I can open it and I can choose a course ,what to do next shall be truly trial and error, I will be using old fashioned pencil and score card as back up ..

Yards only option would be great for Apple Watch. I used this for the first time today. I accessed the golf GPS from my Apple Watch linked to my iPhone. It was not a good experience. Way too much required interaction with the app. It has some interesting features, but all I really need is for the GPS to give me accurate yardage. For nearly every shot I really don’t want anything else. If I need wind and heuristic learning about my club lengths, then I can fuss with that later as a veteran user of your app. I am trying to avoid purchasing a hand-held GPS range finder which does the simple task of yardage. The app needs a setting which is yardage only and give me the option to set that display as my default. I do not want to enter my score digitally or enter my club used or get instructions on the course. The apple watch is too small to do that data entry on the course, the data entry right hand has a glove, and it slows down play. Suggest making a simple swipe of apple watch screen to advance to next hole. This needs to be automatic with very little input from me. Wrist up —> display gives me yards to green. That’s all I really need. I can do all the rest. If this is not an available simply option, then I’m deleting this app and will simply get a hand-held GPS range finder or find another Apple Watch golf GPS app that has option for yardage-only modes. Any feedback?

Barely ok but functional App on the phone but non functional on iWatch. Had this app for a while now on my Apple iPhone and iWatch. Somewhat acceptable phone app like most other similar apps. No must have feature. But don’t know why this app insists that the location tracking setting set to “Always” on iPhone, while most other similar apps don’t require that but function fine when you open and use them. It just ends up draining battery end of 18 holes. I compare it with another app that allows even GPS to be turned off within the app with a simple click. Battery performance of this app on phone is relatively poor. However, worst is on iWatch - Practically useless and non functional on Apple iWatch (no GPS). Always freezes and doesn’t sync up with the game and the phone app even if phone is in trouser pocket and watch on wrist. At moments I need distance the most, it’s annoying to see it has crapped out 🥵

Great app, before version 7.5.2. I pay for the premium version which lets me track the distance of my clubs. The app worked pretty well in general with my Apple Watch (sometimes finicky), but following the update to version 7.5.2 the app has become an exercise in frustration (and I don’t need any more sources of frustration while I am playing golf.). After entering a score for a hole the app is supposed to advance to the next hole. This used to work fine, but version 7.5.2 broke this feature. Now, I have to randomly swipe left and right on the watch for a while before the app figures out that I am done with the last hole and moves to the next hole so that I can start tracking my shot for that hole. And, sometimes, even when it finally advances to the next hole, it still shows distance to the previous hole even though I already closed out those shots and entered scoring for that hole. I reached out to the developer and they gave me a laundry list of things to try, all of which I have tried and none of which fixed the problem. The app worked prior to version 7.5.2 so hopefully they will finally realize this and fix it. Or, I may be asking for a refund.

Support team responds fast and is helpful!. This app has been exactly what I was looking for. A simple gps I can use on my Apple Watch while out on the course. The yardage has been accurate when checked against my rangefinder within +/- 3 yards every time I checked. Being able to select what club I just hit and track my shot is great for learning how far I actually hit each club out on the course. I haven’t paid much attention to the suggested club yet but once I get more shots saved on each club I’m sure that function will be handy. After one of the updates the app dropped off of my Apple Watch so I contacted the support team. Messaged back and forth several times and they reached out to the development team. Within a week of reaching out to them they had another update sent to the App Store and I now have the app back on my watch! My experience with their support team (Christi) was top notch.

Easy to use and Apple Watch compatible. I almost never pay for apps, particularly through yearly subscriptions. But this golf app finds courses for you without any need for downloading, works easily with the Apple Watch, and scoring for you and your foursome is a breeze. The GPS works great too. My only complaint right now is accessing your scores and making score corrections. When I finished 9 of 18 holes, the prompt (if I recall) asked me if I wanted to save my score, which I did. It then assumed I was done and stopped scoring. I then had to get back into the app and get to the 10th hole. All of which is minor, except it would not let me find my playing partner’s front 9 score, let alone correct an entry. Plus finding your scoring history and other golfers scoring history is very difficult. Having said all that, I do like the rest of the functionality and am very happy with this app.

Used to love it, but…. This used to be my favorite golf GPS app. I’ve been using it for years, but I’m looking for something else now. It used to be clean and simple to open and run. Recent updates have now made it a pain to use. I want an app that opens, runs, and gives me what I need. I don’t want to interact with offers. I don’t want to dig through junk to get the course opened and my round underway. I know the developers have to make money, and I understand that this is the way they think they should go, but I disagree. I’ve reached the point now where I hate even tapping the icon. I will be using something else in the future. BTW, credit where credit is due. The app does provide the basic functions well, once you wade your way through the mess. For that, I give it two stars.

Works as advertised. I have been using this app for over a year. The distance indicated is almost exactly the same as the guys with dedicated hand held units. Several of the guys I golf with are now using the app and are all satisfied with it. The battery seldom uses more than 40%. I turn off the screen when in between shots. Everything works as advertised. I am saving all my golf winnings to save up to buy the upgrade. I bought the upgrade but don’t use all the features. Still happy with it. Sometimes the gross score and the net are off by a stroke. Gross 91 with a handicap of 17 returns a net of 73 instead of 74.

Please add my course!. Your description clearly states that you feature EVERY golf course in the US and possibly the world but unfortunately you do not offer my golf course, Pine Hill Country Club of Ripley, Mississippi. Due to the setup of the app, I cannot use it unless I first pick a course and the course I typically play at is the one stated above. I love the app and it’s features but I cannot use them until this issue is resolved. Please add my course to your list. It is a small 9-hole course and will not take up your time. Thank you for your time and careful consideration.

Best pandemic Feature. The app never worked well with my 1st generation Apple Watch. That Apple Watch was way to slow to respond to the data. Well, that watch fell apart on my arm playing golf. The face and the back fell off. I got my money’s worth out of it. That day, I picked up a new Apple Watch before going home. I had not tried the app on the new watch until yesterday. I was pleased with how it worked. However, I use it to just track my shots. I have a laser range finder and use to often. The Apple Watch feature is perfect for keeping up with my health date on the course. Steps showed how much I walked even when using the golf cart. During the wet winter conditions, I love being able to track my steps and other data. I like the share feature too. New 6th Apple Watch makes this app a must use! Even with a high dollar range finder. Sticking my iPhone in my back pocket is easier hauling that significantly heavier range finder. If Verizon didn’t charge a premium for data on an Apple Watch I’d sell my range finder.

Falls a little short. I went to download and realized I had previously used this app only to remove it later. Tried it again and going to remove again. On the phone it appears and functions great. So, if that's your bag, SwingU away. However, I want to use this on my Apple Watch and not play with my phone tethered to me. Unfortunately the app does not fully utilize the watch gps and appears to just run on the phone, using the watch as a somewhat extended control/display. Get a few feet from the phone and the display goes blank. It is unrealistic to be near the golf cart on every shot so it is rendered useless for half the time. Interface is nice but this is a show stopper for me.

Amazing app, -10 shots. Real satellite imagery plus interactive map is the ultimate combo for trusting yardage and shot picking. You know your yardage to a tree is correct when you can see where the app thinks you are, and you see the satellite image of the tree with a line between the two. Easy peasy. Been using this since it was called Swing-by-Swing. While there are a few small glitches that persist, such as score prompting mid-hole and not after hole sometimes, it’s still an amazing tool far better than catroony maps or non-interactive displays. I’d give it 5-stars otherwise. Took 10 strokes off my game, and is freemium...can’t ask for more!

How does this have 4.7*?. I recently made the move to Apple Watch, so I have been testing the different apps. Thought I would give this one a go and was not impressed with the free version. Like most apps on here, I assumed it just worked better if you pay for it. Couldn’t have been more wrong. To be clear, the app itself on the iPhone is fine. It’s the connection with Apple Watch that is the issue but that’s the whole point of getting these apps; right? You can’t get more than a foot away from your phone. Taking 5 steps to get a precise read? Forget it, have to get closer to your phone so it eventually reloads the app on the watch and you get the distance. Crashes a ton. If you’re going to spend money, do yourself a favor and just get 18Biridies. At least it works.

Very good App minor tweaking would make it great. App works great on iPhone. Quickly locates course via GPS and maps very good. When finished iPhone automatically switches to scorecard for entry. IWatch could use some tweaking, display numbers very small could use a larger font. App does not default in dock so when you raise watch to get yardage it’s necessary to select App again from dock. Would also like to see an iWatch native mode so once course played would be stored and played again without iPhone using watch GPS. I find myself launching a competing App on iWatch and this App on iPhone. With these fixes would easily rate a five star

Waiting for gps standalone on Apple watch. I have been using the premium version of this app for almost a year now. It has definitely helped me improve my score and I enjoy it. It's easy to use and has the information I want and nothing more. However, now I feel it's holding me back. When it comes to being on the green, I don't bring my phone for accurate GPS reading. I mount my phone to the cart for the distance and playing music. I don't want to be removing it every single hole. I can't accurately track my approach shots because I have to stay a certain distance away from the green. I see your competitor does have it. Waiting patiently but not forever.

My favorite. I love this App. It is the only one I use after trying several. The GPS is extremely accurate and the view of course is not bad either. I don’t even use my Garmin GPS now. I have this app with me everywhere I go because I carry my phone everywhere I go. I love that it keeps your score and putts. It only keeps your putt count though not those you add to the scorekeeper. It also allows you to save all of your scores and the courses you play to compare improving or slipping back. The GPS to find the courses nearby is extremely accurate and easy to use. You can even take pics and add them to your app. This app is the best one out there! Also it is not irritating where you have to sign in every time you want to use it. Can not stress enough the great quality of this app!

Change in compatibility. I love the SwingU app and have used it for several years. Up until about two weeks ago, it was compatible with my iwatch which was great. I have searched why the app will not show up as available and sync from my phone to the watch and did everything to bring it back. I have now discovered that there must have been a change in compatibility with the app now requiring a watch OS of 7.0 or higher. Unfortunately, my watch OS is 6.3. I am extremely disappointed with that. Update: Thank you for the response to my review. Unfortunately, my Apple Watch is as up to date with the OS as it can be, therefore I may have to purchase a new apple watch in order for it to be compatible with the app. Technology is always changing!!

Simple, clean interface and great feature-set for price point.. SwingU is my preferred golfing app to use on the course in conjunction with my Apple Watch after trying just about every other app available. I find the watch app to be far and away the most useful and practical compared to alternatives. That said, I am disappointed to remove a star because I do not feel that the club tracking feature (which I pay for) is not accurately calculating average club distances. It is tracking data wonderfully, but my reported averages simply do not change regardless of data collected. This is frustrating because it is the feature I like most about the app — is this something that will be fixed in a future update?

Excellent free app and even more excellent customer service!. I think this is the first app I’ve ever reviewed in probably 12 years of owning an IPhone. This app is so good it’s hard to believe it’s free. On top of that and what prompted me to right a review, the little 9 hole course I play has two holes on the back 9 that change par due to tee box position, so if you wanted to use this app to keep score, duplicating the front nine will make it appear you bogeyed a hole on the back 9 even though you hit a par on it. (I realize the score is going to be the same but it was bugging me) I emailed SwingU support about this to ask if there was a way to change the par number on the back 9. They responded very quickly and told if I’d send a picture of one of our scorecards, they would update their database. I sent them a picture of a scorecard this morning while out on the course, just looked at it a few minutes ago, and they have already updated my course in the app where I have an accurate front and back 9. Same day, fantastic customer service. Highly recommend SwingU!!!!

Games Improving. This app is awesome! Such an easy way to see the course from an overhead view. Especially easy to use and a great tool for when I’m looking at a new course Iv never played before. I know exactly how far my tee shot needs to go with it’s easy satellite images. Also this app a great way to keep stats from every round and see how my game is trending! It also shows me tips and videos that might help my game out depending on what stat is lacking. I can definitely say that this app has helped my game out! Excited to keep seeing how much I can improve!

Vs 4.0.10 SbS. This app keeps getting modified. One wonders that perhaps these software geniuses have gone over the top. (I get 2 emails whenever we start a round. Then I get 2 more emails announcing that I have completed my round. This was a GREAT APP ABOUT 2 r visions ago. But then as a software guy I beef to stay employed, due out with another revision. This new version 4.0 of swing by swing worked great the 2 times that I used it on golf course. I have been using this iPhone free app for about 4 years? Great App. (Only problem is it is slow and drains my battery). So my wife bought me a Garmin which lets me play 3 rounds on 1 battery charge). I recommended the swing by swing app but after over 284 rounds, I have left for Garmin s20.

Swing U Versus. This was a total waste of time and money. All this does is focuses on the distance of each of your shots once your off the box. You say it’s for analysis and for swing u to send you advice on each type of shot you had. First of all it obvious only keeps track of 1 individual game at a time. Therefore if you have a tree sitting right in the middle of the fairway and you have to go over and around it, the app can’t see that and just treats it as a normal shot. There’s no room for analysis, and whatever analysis the app gives you would be counterproductive. Why do bunker shots only matter from 50 yds in? Just because you have to have a different type of swing from inside that distance. Doesn’t really make much sense. Why only cover recovery shots from certain distances? Also I’m at the point where if I miss the green on a chip from inside 50yds, I’m going home. This whole portion of stats are now just useless for me and just takes time for me to plug in. Swing U Versus just takes too long to record. The old way was 10x better. It looks like you guys are trying to be too sexy. Keep it simple, keep it about accuracy and the important factors that make golfers better. Distance is not one of them. If you can’t hit an approach accurately from 100yds you certainly can’t do it from 200yds so why keep track of that? Why would you want to focus on something you already know you need to improve? It’s redundant

Doesn’t Work. I tried to subscribe to Swing U today, but before I did, I wanted to check what courses were available. Good thing I checked before buying a subscription because I get a message that it’s “unable to connect to our servers. Please check your connection and try again later” I can’t imagine how frustrating this would be if I had actually paid for this app and got in the middle of an actual round of golf and this happened. Then, I tried to set up an account on this app and I still haven’t gotten a response from them to verify my email. Also, I live in an area with 2 PGA Tour Superstores within 100 miles of me, so that should indicate how popular golf is in my area of play. There are ZERO courses within that same 100 miles that this app has the green-reading feature available for. It seems this app has serious technical issues and shortcomings, so until I’m satisfied they have been fixed and not likely to crop up again in the future, I’ll spend my money on an app that actually works and has the features it advertises.

Completely Unusable. Have had this app for a few years now. I used to be able to use it on the course and it was pretty reliable but now it is completely unusable. I am able start the round and by the time I get to my first tee shot and check the distance to the pin the app crashes and all I see is a white screen. Some times I am to restart the app and get more then a white screen. Sometimes I am even able to enter a score, mostly though I am not. Once in awhile it will locate me on the course after restarting but then it will crash and back to a white screen it goes. I have been able to enter the scores at home when I use my iPad so I can track my rounds but the app is complete useless on my iPhone. I am not sure if these problems are because I have an iPhone 4s but all this started when the app was redone. Currently looking at dedicated gps devices right now.

Excellent Golf App. I have been using SwingU for a few years and i find it to be a vital part of my game. I can rely on its ability to give me accurate yardage and the zoom in feature for approach shots is incredible. I use that also when I play a new course that I don’t know. I can review my stats later on and it keeps my handicap without my need to figure it out. Yesterday my phone was low on battery so I had to pace off the yardage like in days of old. When I got home I was able put in my score hole by hole using the app as if I was at the course. That was enjoyable too but I do like having SwingU at my disposal. It helps make golf more enjoyable for me. Jeffrey in OKC

Tricky. They fooled me into subscribing for a year, because I hit “back” from the free-trial screen after missing the “plus” option, selected the plus option, and then “continue”, which subscribed me. So congratulations to them for that. They don’t link to my GHIN handicap, which means that I’m still holding on to GolfShot for now, because GolfShot automatically calculates my “net double bogey” score and will post directly to GHIN. On the plus side, they have a “plays like” feature, which is very useful, and green maps, which are more accurate than my app-less reading. The implementation is annoying, though, because as soon as I’m on the green, before I can click the button for the green map, it pops up the Score window, which I then have to cancel to get to the green map. However, if I’m tracking the shot I hit to the green, I can work around this by hitting the green map, then lining up my putt, then finishing the tracking of the shot. Another thing it doesn’t do is let me track my putts. I don’t know why. So in sum, I am using this for a year, after which time I might try the GHIN app, which has no free trial period.

Changed My Game. I’ve been playing golf my whole life and have always taken the club away inside. It usually leads to a draw, but without regular practice, timing gets off and it results in a two-way miss. I’ve tried numerous times to get it more on-plane, but its hard to re-route a golf swing after 30 years. That all changed with the commentary and 2 minute video the pro shared with me in the 1-on-1 feature. He sent the perfect drill for me to work on to think about it another way and I’ve gained significant consistency since I’ve been using this drill. It’s rare to have one drill make such a huge difference after playing golf my whole life, but thanks to SwingU for making that happen!

App is buggy, freezes, sometimes tracks workouts. I have the paid version. Paid for a year but will look elsewhere after that’s done. The gps part is good, syncs and gives fairly accurate scores. However, the app constantly minimizes to background on watch. I constantly have to reopen the app so it shows on the watch face. Super annoying. Every 3 or 4 times when I open the app on my phone to start a round, it freezes and I have to close the app and reopen it. There is also a sync feature where if you play a round it counts as a workout on your activities under golf. This works maybe 1 out of every 10 times I play. I play golf almost everyday and this app overall is decent but with the bugs it becomes fairly annoying while on the course, especially since I play so often I notice it a lot more.

Not Good for Apple Watch. I give up, they advertised “try Plus service and if not satisfied, cancel and get refund of unused months”. All lies, freezes on watch during use on course, so it’s useless. Tried to get refund, contacted Apple since purchase was made using my Apple account, they said no because it’s 3rd party responsibility, contact developer. I contacted developer, they said it was purchased thru Apple and Apple won’t let them issue refunds. Complete runaround from both Apple and 3rd party developer. If you have an Apple Watch, don’t get this App, it’s Garbage!!!!

Apps freeze mid-round 🤬. I’ve been using the free iPhone app and Apple Watch app for over a year, every week. Sometimes they both work, but other times they suddenly freeze up in the middle of a round. Fortunately, I’ve been able to use the iPhone app when the Watch app is frozen — and vice versa. But what a hassle and disappointment. On a few occasions, the Watch app has turned on while I’m sleeping, looking for a round — another buggy bizarre situation. And on other occasions, while the apps are functioning normally, the Watch app fails to sync with Apple Watch workouts — so after walking 16,000 steps on the course, it looks like I’ve done nothing. On the plus side, the shot tracking feature works great. I wish there was an app that did ONLY shot tracking when you don’t need the other functionality. Because of the buggy freezing problems, I will not be paying to upgrade and neither should you.

Trustworthy, Reliable and Accurate. I’ve been using the Swing by Swing app since it first came out and has never let me down. I use it to keep my score and statistics as well as the score of the foursome I am playing with. I love everything about it! The paid version is absolutely worth it and a bargain. The only thing I don’t like is that it isn’t linked directly to the USGA’s GHIN system. It was great to be able to post scores directly from the app, but that feature went away a few years ago. I’m sure that was a USGA thing, but I hope it comes back someday.

I wanted this to work. As a 3 handicap I wanted this app to help me with my club yardages. I wanted to use it with my Apple Watch so that I don’t have to carry my phone in my pocket when playing. It was very inconsistent with the yardages and if I wasn’t close enough to my phone it would not work at all. It’s also a lot to keep track of when you are also trying to focus on your round. I paid for a year subscription like a dummy but if it worked I would have been ok with it. I reached out twice to customer service over the next month to try and cancel it and attempt to get a refund for the full year and volunteered to pay for 1 month instead since I did try and use it and just didn’t work out. Customer service never reached out so I just gave up on it. Then about 4 months later I decided to try again for the 3rd time and warned about leaving a 1 star review and customer service actually reached back out. Customer service agent Adam Cattel told me that he would not issue the refund because I have been using the app for several months now and there was no emails on record from me. I forwarded the emails to him stating that I in fact did try and reach out and that if you look at my account you can see that I only tried the app on 2 courses within the first month. Never heard from him again. So here we are. Long story short. Don’t waste your money on this app.

From a Pro!!. I have been a professional tour player on the Symetra Tour since 2017 and I began using the SwingU app this year. It is the perfect user friendly golf statistics app for players of all levels (from beginner to professional!) One of the best features of the app is that once the user has put in statistics from several rounds, the strengths and weaknesses of their games are highlighted in the Performance tab and it offers free drills to help make improvements! I would definitely recommend this app to any golfer looking to improve their games!

I love my SwingU. I have been a Looper for about a year and love my SwingU app. It is even better now that most carts have a USB charger so I don’t have to carry a charger. While others are fumbling with their lasers I have shot the middle of the green, distance to the water and the bunker on the right. I love it. The electronic scoring is a bonus. My only complaint is now that I actually measure my drives with the app I can’t hit my driver as far as I used to. Then came the shocker. I have never won anything in my life. Six weeks ago I got an email from SwingU saying I had won a Scotty Cameron puttering their weekly drawing. I said great all I have to do is pay $499 for shipping and handling right? No, they said, that is free. I chose the one I wanted and one week later it arrived. Amazing. Still can’t believe it. So when they say this week we are giving away a Ping driver they are not kidding. Love you SwingU Thanks Reg Friesen from Ohio

Very cranky. App is very unpredictable. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. When complain about it, mostly was informed to delete and reinstall. Got tired of that. Today the watch feature did not work at all but phone function worked. It did not record any info about steps etc. Last time both the phone and watch and step count worked until hole 11 and it all stopped. Consider getting an app that actually always works as this is very frustrating. Update: first day if golf both app and watch worked great. Second day, same course, same weather, app on watch never worked and app worked a few holes and then stopped. Very very frustrating.

Was better. The primary reason I had got this app previously was for the instruction content. Specifically I wanted to follow Mark Blackburn’s information as his app is no longer available. At first the app was nice cause I could search for his stuff specifically and I even bought the paid version. However with the recent changes you can’t filter by instructors. This was an important feature as players don’t want a myriad of different instructors and philosophies that may contradict. Because of this I uninstalled and was issued a refund. Great customer service but for me no reason to pay for and there are other gps and stay systems out there.

Good Phone App, Horrible Watch App. The phone version of the SwingU app is pretty good. It tracks your handicap, it has an intuitive interface to input scores, and is pretty accurate on distances on the course. The club tracking is nice and the stat tracking is really informative on how you have played over several rounds too. However, my issue with the app is mainly through the Apple Watch version. I’ve played 90 rounds with this app and the watch version FREEZES EVERY SINGLE TIME. I’ve even tried keeping my phone in my pocket while playing too, which is not very comfortable, and it still freezes. Restarting the app when this happens sometimes fixes the issue, but not for long. I even went out and bought the cellular version of the Apple Watch recently because I thought that it might help. No luck. It is very frustrating because I enjoy the phone app itself and get use out of many of the features. I just wish I could use the watch version more on the course and didn’t have to go to my phone after leaving every green to input my scores. If the developers could figure out how to solve the Apple Watch bugs, this would be a perfect golf app. But for now 3/5.

Stableford. There should be an option for a wipe (unfortunately) when playing Stableford

Average. Great images and decent in hole usage - scoring system and stats, score card features not as easy to use or intuitive as other apps

Latest Update has frozen app. Your latest update has totally frozen on he app, it's now useless!!

Other apps. I do use another app, that helps in distance how far is water, sand etc away to reach. This helps on playing new golf courses. This would be a nice add on for free, same as the other app. The other is hard to add scores etc.

There are better alternatives. Trialed the premium version for a week (3 rounds). Pretty slick platform with loads of data and statistics (which I like). Club tracking is chunky and no option for automatic tracking like GolfShot has. The interface with AppleWatch is also lacking big time towards competitors, and almost unusable. Love the green view. Sticking with GolfShot premium for now.

Fantastic golf tracking app!. Absolutely love the swing u app. The live tracking during rounds has been a huge help especially playing courses I’ve never played before and the coaching team have helped me greatly with friendly service and great easy to follow drills that have helped my game drastically!

Stableford score calcs not always correct. I use the app to track my history and it's generally great. However on my local course the stableford score is overstated on a few holes, even though the the correct stroke index is shown. Is this a widespread issue on other courses?

Excellent. Great app and fantastic customer support. Having accurate distance readings means my club selection and performance is more consistent. The stats tracking is an excellent feature. Support was fantastic once I noticed a scorecard error for one of my local courses. Thank you.

Losing rounds. I love this app, but i keep losing rounds with it. I finish a round view my final card and the next time i start using it i find my previous round is in progress without a scorecard present. When i pause and finish the new round my previous round disappears.

First Time. Did all the basics I required. Will dig deeper as I go along.

Short game. It would be good if you had pitches and chips so you could analyse your short game Easy to use and very good accuracy with the distances it shows

Now it works. System won’t let me update my previous review. Now working; god knows why, I haven’t changed anything... Would give it 5 stars but support communications not acceptable; emails not responded to.

Nice app. Really nice app and find the distances really accurate. Would love some updated functionality for scoring, particularly for when playing stableford - eg would love a wipe/pick up button.

Not nice on Apple Watch. It takes a while to catch up on Apple Watch and always drops out. Hard to enter score

Very good for a free App been using for 12 months. Easy to use very happy

It was good. I used to rely on this heavily but since the upgrade the distance on the watch has been unreliable. So unreliable that I just don’t look at it anymore. Also when I enter my score on the watch it sometimes doesn’t transfer to the phone. Now I’ve cancelled my membership and I’m looking for another app that can replace what used to be the best in the game.

Too restrictive with the features. I got the app to help with handicap but I cannot even use the feature. Ok with location information. Did not realise was a manual entry app. Needs some work.

Great App!. Awesome, I never need to use a cardboard scorecard again. All my scores are kept on the system and handicap is totalled, although not precise. But, overall a great app for a keen social player.

UNUSABLE for Stableford in Australia. Great App, but given the well accepted tradition of 'picking up' in Stableford competitions it impossible to score any rounds where you have done this and maintain your stats, without making some scores up, unless of course you score every hole. It is compulsory to score detail about your putting and drive which is great, but sometimes you just need basic scoring so it should have an option for that. Easy things for the developer to fix, will re-rate when resolved.

Latest Update Buggy. Brilliant App, however the latest update has been playing up, with the app taking forever to load with a black screen. Even entering scores have been ridden with bugs, and saving rounds have been laggy / non-responsive. Please fix!!

Fantastic stuff. Big fan of this, highly recommend it

Fantastic. For a free app this is fantastic. Might pay the money for the upgrade one day

Great App. This app does everything is says it does in an excellent manner cannot fault it. I use it with my Apple Watch. Absolutely fantastic

App not loading with new update. Just did the update now after the warning to make sure location settings are set to always it goes straight to a white screen & wont load

Great App. What more can I say but it’s the best all round golf app I have ever had the pleasure.

Tricks you into subscribing. Gave me option for a 7 day trial, clicked ok, and it charged for the full year. $150+. Also rarely works with my Apple Watch which makes it next to useless.

Some considerations that would be really nice?. You know that golf is played outside the 50 United States, don’t you? Well how’s about some of your avalanche of ads, promotions, sales and sweetener offers be available to the rest of the world? On the app functioning. Displaying the registered hole distance would be really helpful. Yes, the important thing is distance to hole, but if you want to let a playing partner know how far he hit it you cannot because you aren’t tracking their shots, and if you forget (or can’t be inspired enough to take the time or, more to the point, the distraction) to track every one of your own during a competition round, when you get to your ball and look at the app, we’ll, you’re stuffed. It’s not bad otherwise. Worth persevering with.

Best Golf App I’ve used. Well worth the small fee. The videos are brilliant. One on one coaching is well worth it. Brilliant app. Highly recommended

Screen goes white. In the past week or so, I cannot use the app because the screen goes white just after it opens. Not sure if there is a solution to this?

Easy to use. Great App, so easy to use. Has let me down once or twice by refusing to get going on the course, but have accepted that as ok for something using so much technology. Works reasonably well with Apple Watch but sometimes the comms with phone don’t get through and also sometimes the score update on the watch won’t work.

1st time user. Found this app great as a first time user I need to learn a little more but recommended.

First go using Swing U. Found it really easy to use and the distance measurements were almost bang on...

Quite good. Maybe the full version will be 5 star

Great app. Super refinements and functionality. Has also become very much quicker and more stable, great work folks.

Phone is good watch clunky. Have used many times on iPhone which works well but used a lot of battery. When using Apple watch found that it would sometimes drop out and not accept input of strokes played. Also metres was wrong several times which made me think it was using the phone for distance which was sitting in the buggy rather than using the watch location ??

Not happy. Didn’t realise had to put scores in before hole info is uploaded

Great. Easier than writing it down!

Great help with club selection. As a high handicap player, this app has helped greatly with club selection and making better decisions on the course.

Love it!. Easy! Gives you the basics. User friendly!

Great program. This is as good or better than units that cost over $200. I have compared this with expensive golf GPS units & found that the difference in distance is on average, no more than 1mt. And best of all... it doesn't cost a fortune.

All but a few elements. Great App. Remarkably accurate course overviews The scorecard would be better if it had GIR! It’d be better again if it could sync with Golf Australia website / handicap tracker!

Tops. Very good. You won't be disappointed, ready to upgrade to PRO!

Stuck choosing how far I hit a 7 iron. I am stuck on this screen, I have closed the app and even turned my phone off and on. I have paid for a year and now I can’t even use the app

Probably the biggest influence on my game. Through this product I was able to confirm that my judgement of distance had altered dramatically with ageing. I was 10-15 metres out on critical occasions. This product has saved my game.

Great app - should sync with friends. This is a great app but it would be even better if players scores would sync across each player’s app so only one player has to track scores.

Cancel Subscription. I tried cancelling the subscription and the app won’t allow this and keeps charging the card. Beware!!

Very good. Good app I like how they listen and correct mistakes

App ok, but watch gps laggy and wrong.. Apart from the huge number of adds, I liked the app. I’d did find however the gps distances on my watch was just wrong. In the end never looked at them. I also noticed that although I finished the round on my watch, my phone didn’t know things had ended. Also the score on my watch was 1 shot different to the phone. Weird as.

Dan. Hi. I have just down loaded the app. It says I can input previous scorecards. I have looked around but couldn’t see how. Can I get some advice on how to do this! Thanks

Hard with Apple Watch. Tougher to pair with Apple Watch

Why not. There’s 0 reason to not get this app. It’s great even if free

Golf. I haven’t fully used the app but by the looks of it it’s well made but you do need to pay for lots of things but the actual tracker is free

Best app. Great app simple and accurate!!!

Update from last review.. I tried the free trial once yrs ago, at the time it was near impossible to stop them charging my credit card! Note: After contacting support they ensured me I would not be charge again. I’m quick to anger when having to spend what little energy I have left to chase down support for something that should have been handled competently in the first place. I’m sure it’s a good app, but illness took away golf years ago.

“Share My Round” needs to be front and center available at all times. Ridiculous that “Share my round” is so difficult to find and is not available after the round is saved. This is a BASIC function that should be incredibly easy to find and available at any time. Have any of the developers played golf with friends? Do they have friends?

Looked good originally. Was initially excited about this app; trying free version before committing. But it was time consuming and distracting to keep entering stuff on the course. And—-relentless ads to upgrade, multiple times a day. This morning, while walking our dog, miles away from the course, my watch was beeping to get me to upgrade, and giving me ‘yardages’. DELETED

SwingU disconnecting all the time. The app would be great if it didn’t disconnect all the time from my Apple Watch. I have all the settings they suggest but it is unstable. Also eats battery on phone

Doesn’t Sync. Over the last year there has been trouble “finding a round” on the Apple Watch. It doesn’t sync even when restarting the app. The only thing that worked was completely restarting my watch from scratch. A bug that needs to be fixed.

Below average. The distances to the green take forever to appear on your watch if at all. Was expecting much more. Hole 19 much better in this regard.

Much better. I’m changing my review of this app. After switching internet providers (now with bell) and bug fixes, everything works perfect now. Accurate distances, fast, and works perfect with my Apple Watch.

Love the app. Follows me, wherever I go , I’m hooked beats looking through a telescope

Apple Watch. Is anyone having issues getting their apple watch to sync. My watch will not sync, It is an okder version but it work last summer.

Recent updates not welcomed. Recently, the app keep “whitening out”and does not respond unless you restart it. Almost 20-30 times during a 18-hole game.

Not user friendly. For the price I don’t find the app user friendly

Acton golf course. Nice course . Value for money !!!

Keeps disconnecting from my Apple Watch. I had the pro subscription and cancelled it this year as I found more and more that my Apple watch was disconnecting mid round. Yes I have it setup according to the app specifications. I enjoy focusing all my effort on getting a scoring app to work correctly on my watch instead of focusing on the game. If I was told this issue is fixed I would try the free version again to confirm before subscribing.

Effective App. Upswing app gives accurate distance, amazing satellite view of each fairway, and easy to using scoring. If you don’t yet have it, get it!

What happened to my Stats?. With the recent update, I need to upgrade and pay more for what was included before. I used to be able to look at driving, putting, and other stats and compare it to year to date performance. Another example of shrinkflation.

Sad. I used to absolutely love this app. It was an amazing free app to use for golf. Now they have taken away almost every feature unless you pay for it. Very disappointed and will stop using app.

Golf’s #1 app. Amazing app for any course !!!! Extremely accurate and gives you very important detail.

Connection issues. Constantly disconnects from Apple Watch. Real frustrating.

Fine at first. Submitted my local course and it was added within a day. However, paired with my Apple Watch (6) at times it started to get stupid and not display yardages or give an error saying “looking for a round”. Going directly to the phone was an option that had to be done in order to get yardages and frequently get an error stating Not near hole.. I changed the setting for how often it checks gps about halfway through the season (uses more battery) to the most frequent and still it has issues. Frequently have to change setting to never get location in Privacy>Location Services then open the app and then change the setting back to Always and then shutdown and reopen the app. The most aggravating part however is when you finish 9 or 18 holes and it registers your score but the Fitness/Activity app reports zero time/calories/exercise minutes .. I used this for the entire summer, close to 100 or more rounds (9 hole course) to get a feel for this app. I would certainly use another app if it was less frustrating than this one.

not free. $$$ not free

Great App. Give me a life long membership and I’ll refer all my friends that I golf with including league as long as I’m alive.

Not enough features. Too many locked up features behind pay wall

MUST TRY THIS APP. I don’t even know where to start this app is amazing it’s exactly like a golf range finder recommend this app 100% and you don’t even have to pay a dime to use this app

Great program.. This program changes your game. Put a whole new dimension on playing a course. Amazing.

Not accurate. Nice little app but the distances do not appear accurate at all. Sone 20 yards off.

GPS. Tracking is off and slow. You need to hold it for a while in place to get accurate yardages

Great customer service!!. Fell in love with the app right of the bat!!. Or club I should say.. Easy to use.Keeps track of all your stats and round info.. Best golf app on the market. Was having issues with the app after an update. Had lost all my rounds data and history. A customer service agent returned my email immediately and helped me retrieve all my data.. GPS pretty accurate when I compare with my range finder. I’ve been using this app for close to 10 yrs. Have yet to play a course that is not on their data base. Highly recommended it.. If I wanted to be a stickler …Would be great if there was a search icon for scrolling through previous played round history quicker.

Not accurate. I tried the free trial of the Pro form of this app… I liked some of it on my Apple Watch but there were locations on my course where the distances were very inaccurate! I was 76 yards out on the 18th hole and Swingu measured it as 130 yards! That’s not a minor discrepancy! I cancelled!

Worth the price of admission. SwingU has been a valuable asset not only in my own competitive golf but also for my students. The user friendly platform gives you valuable stats for areas of improvement and follows up with a full library of instructional videos. For high end players the green maps and GPS course layout function is worth the price of admission.

Awesome features. Better than golf Canada

great app :). really fun and easy to use!!!

SwingU. Pretty good when using free version. A bit clunky to enter scores and move around in the app. I find the google earth looking display difficult to differentiate traps water and tree shadow though.

Golf des Iles Sly. Seems hole number one was the 10th and the tenth was the first.. Couldn’t put it in the proper order..

Not great. App stopped tracking distances after 7 holes.

Watch doesn’t work with the app.. Worked for the first round, now the watch is constantly searching for round. All the settings are the same and the I watch app opens by itself when the phone app is working. Paid for premium and Very dissatisfied

Difficulté pour starter. Je trouve qu’on a de la difficulté à commencer une partie Merci pour l’information ça m’a beaucoup aidé.

My previous subscription is now useless.. I was a paying subscriber. With the latest update, they removed valuable information that I was using, trying to force me to buy an even higher subscription. I will be removing this app. No loyalty to or consideration for the previous subscribers. Edit: Funny that in my review the response was that they did not take away information from my view. But two days later, they responded to another reviewer who had the same issue, admitting that they did take away a view, and they are working on restoring that.

Great App!. Love using this app to track all my stats when playing. The GPS part is amazing because you can checkout new course before even deciding where you want to play. One thing I would change would be to have a Friends section you can invite people to do you could all be on the same scorecard and tracking what your friends are shooting. You can have friends on the scorecard now but it’s very basically and it just sends it to them via email. I wish it would also save it in your stats so not both parties have to track the scores. I think an overhaul of the social aspect of the app would make this app even better.

110. I’m a 110 golfer. It’s app didn’t lower my score. It showed me where I got my 110 score from

SwingU support. The app is frustrating as there is not a manual that gives u step by step instructions plus instructions on how to use it with Apple Watch Thinking of cancelling

Worst gps app yet. I have tried half dozen golf gps apps and this is the worst. Not even worth the effort to try it

Golf Is great while using this amazing app.. Great app!!!

App unstable on apple watch; drains battery. Continual problems with this app. Time for a stand-alone device.

Does not synch properly. Have used the app for about 3 years. Just in the past year it no longer synchs between the apple phone and Apple Watch. Terribly frustrating and will cancel subscription

Best app. Recommend the app to anybody

Great app if you know how to play. If you actually input your average club distances it will tell you pretty spot on what club to use from the lie you’re facing.. reading these other reviews that give 1 star seem to be lazy people that don’t want to learn club distances before hand and just rely on an app to tell them exactly what club to hit and how to hit it from the lie. Should learn club distances beforehand and you’d have a great experience with this app just like me. Thanks!

Good app, issues after update.. I really enjoy the app, but ever since the recent update after i save my score it will take off one of the holes i played and leave it as a zero. For example: recently shot a 90 after i closed the app and came back in it said i had a 85??. Checked the scorecard and it left hole5 (Par5) as a zero. I went back in and edited the scorecard and now it reads correctly. If that was a one time thing it would be no big deal but its happened several times now and is getting annoying.

Going downhill. I’ve had this app for at least 5 years and love it. However, starting towards the end of last season(2017) it seems as if the app is digressing. Yardages take forever to re-calculate, if they ever do. Yardages compared to those shot with range finder can be 20 yards different. Many times all you get is the red pop up saying “unable to get distance” even though I’m standing on the tee box. Seriously considering trying a different app, especially when I’m already paying for this one.

Fun Golf was better. I love the app...when it works, which is seldom. I have to keep GPS on constantly which is battery draining. I have to keep my phone on my body almost every hole. 90%of the time when I look at my Apple Watch it is “searching for a round” I love everything about the app and would probably go premium if I knew it would work even tho I really don’t want all the extras. I just want accurate distances and to keep scores. Oh and I have contacted customer support already so I guess I’ll be looking once again for a dependable app Like the Fun Golf App used to be before you “fixed” it.

This is for support not the App. I have used this app for almost two years. After using the free version I decided to updated to gain more insight to my game and improve. This really helped me and was very easy to use. The connection with pro help and tip videos is worth the cost. Then comes the announcement of Versus to get more detailed insight to your rounds. After 9 rounds the performance section just says there is nothing to show until after your first round. I emailed the support team and received responses but not a fix. Then all went quiet. Support is no longer responding to any further emails. I will be looking for another app for next golf season.

Seems to have major issues connecting to server. This is probably the best golf-GPS app I have found. Even the free version has been an incredible help to my game. I have used it for years but recently I have been having issues with it connecting to servers, at home or on the course. Hopefully I can get some assistance with this glitch. I rely on the the data provided by this app during my play and really struggling with any other apps I’ve tried to supplement with. None are as good!!

Looper features and I watch. I think the app is great but trying to use it on I watch isn’t.i have been using Golfshot and decided to try SwingU because of the price and the new looper features of wind and elevation . Unfortunately the watch experience only provides middle of the green yardages, scoring and club tracking! No looper info. My phone also died on the 10th hole! The Golfshot app has yardages for front, middle and back and hazards, club distance tracking and scoring. It also has recommended club. I have searched the internet and app for additional instruction for using looper with the watch but have not found any help. I think the phone app is great and adding a better I watch experience should be a priority!

Wind measurement no longer works. I have version 7.5.2, which must’ve been installed in the last few weeks. The last two times I went out golfing, I noticed that the app is no longer measuring the windspeed nor accounting for it in the place like calculation. I assume it is related to the above most recent release. This is a pretty valuable feature. I didn’t see any way to report this issue so I decided to go this route.

Amazing feature set. The features available on this app for free are awesome. For less than the cost of one Pro V1 Ball per month you can do the Looper upgrade. I love it. Shot tracking is awesome. Tip: track ALL your shots, not just the ones you’re happy with. That gives you a much more realistic picture of your averages and better club recommendations. Basic distance feature is very helpful. I can find distances to many course features I can’t shoot with a range finder. I also love the stats and being able to track things over time. I used to do all this manually with score cards and Excel, but now it’s done for me and available at my fingertips while I’m playing. Great app - nothing bad to say. A couple of suggestions: the ability to add some personal notes to a hole would be cool. Also a feature to share a score card via text, email, save image etc. would be cool.

Mixes up holes and not intuitive. The app feels very cluttered and you have to press too many buttons to enter your score for each hole. I want to be enjoying golf not glued to my phone entering data and navigating menus. I have now had it happen on 3 different courses where it displays the wrong hole (like hole 8 when I'm playing hole 3). There's no way to manually override, or even figure out which hole its displaying unless you know the course well enough to recognize it. So that basically makes the app useless for that round. I'll stick to Garmin golf. Its cleaner, and doesn't mess up courses.

Love it.....but. Am a premium member and is a good golf app. However, I use it on my Apple Watch 3, and the entire time the app is running, the Watch counts the time as exercise. Of course, sitting in the cart, taking a break, etc., is not exercise. One of the main reasons I bought the watch is to track my exercise each day, and when I play a four hour golf round, it adds 4 hours of exercise! Apple says it’s a problem with the way the app developer has described it with Apple. I’m trying to get the developer to fix it. We’ll see. Fix it and it’s a 5 star app!

Too much information(TMI). I like the fact that it stays on the hole your playing until after you’re done putting the score in As far as the other stuff goes I don’t need to know I suppose it’s nice for some players I gave it 4 stars because I’m not a fan of paying a yearly fee when other apps that you pay for are normally pay one and done.

Happy so far. I've been using GolfLogix but recently have had problems with it working on my Apple Watch. I stayed away from SwingXSwing Looper because some of my local courses were missing. Seems like now more courses are included AND SwXSw works perfectly with my watch. Also easier to score. I've only used the app one time. If my opinion changes I'll revise my rating. Revision September 2019: Doesn’t show par for holes on any courses I play. With iOS 13 and Watch 6 syncing with Watch is buggy. Otherwise ok. For the price should be perfect! Received a prompt response to my updated review from the app developers. Their suggestion to clear the app cache, log out and log back in worked perfectly. Par for each hole now showing. Back to 5 stars!

Sad Review. I don't know if it is me or the App or my Watch, but I cannot get this App to be consistant. I turn off s cores, it askes me for scores. I just want it to give me the yardage, but it gets all involved in clubs and more and I cennot get out of these sections once in them. I was able to get to the actual hole a few toimes, but then it refused to go to the next hole. I thought this would work for me but there are too many headaches and this is of course, golf, which means you do not want additional headaches ehrn playimg! I paid for this App and will try to get me money back.

Doesn’t respect notification settings. Great app, enjoy using it and it works great for tracking my golf game and I especially enjoy the watch functionality to quickly see distance to the pin and to be able to record my scores without pulling my phone out. However the app doesn’t respect the in-app settings to not send offers via notifications and thus I’ve had to disable notifications entirely for this app through the phone settings.

Great GPS App. I’ve had a lot of golfers judge me about using this gps app but I find it to be just as accurate as a rangefinder. A new phone can improve performance to (so for me from XS to 13 pro) and it helped me lock on within a good couple seconds. I hope to see new updates with this app and hopefully I can be able to access the Apple Watch feature in a later update Best, Chris

Don’t pay for the Looper!!. I paid for the Looper package a couple of years ago. After the first year I decided I didn’t use it as much as I first thought and wanted to cancel my auto renew. I tried to cancel through the app and it sends you to a dead end at the apple store. I then sent two emails to SwingU, and have not received a response. Once you signup... there’s no getting out unless you cancel your card!! Don’t do it!! The benefits stink anyway. The Looper is not that great!

No tracking. Really wanted to use this app, once I got it downloaded and was signing in I was asked for a credit card. It was then that I found that the reason for a credit card in the “free” app was so that they could use it track my purchases in order to target advertisements. To me this is totally unacceptable. After further review I have found the the request for credit card information was NOT from SwingU, but from “Google Ads”. I apologize for that. I do plan to evaluate this app over the next few days, so far it looks really good.

Shot track now Looper only ☹️. I played my first round using 6.0 yesterday. It worked well but one feature is no longer available in the free app. I used to use shot tracking to get my driving distance, which I’d note separately. I was quite surprised on the first tee that I could no longer do that, but got a window that told me I could find out about Looper. Other than that major disappointment, I thought the app worked well, though I thought that it was a little sluggish updating distances. If I could still measure my driving distance directly I would have given this 5 stars. I’m not ready for Looper yet.

Great golf GPS app, especially since it's free.. Had a few apps that I liked in the past that went by the wayside. This one is excellent and I sure hope it's around for the long haul. I use it in conjunction with my watch (when I remember to wear it). This gives the hole layouts and distances to any hazard better than my watch. When I need a really accurate distance to the pin I'll use my rangefinder. But if this app is all I had I'd be in good shape.

Back up to 4 Stars. Great app, only drawback is cost. I bought my membership many years ago when, if a course wasn’t available, the user had to inserttee-box locations and pin locations and submit it for inclusion. It wasn’t much of a big deal once you got the hang of it. I’m just not a ‘monthly subscription’ kind of guy except magazines, newspaper and alimony payments. Other than that the stats really help me understand where I need to work.

Watch doesn’t work but ok on iPhone. It worked perfectly the first time I used it both on the watch and the iPhone. Second time out, the watch kept ‘looking for a round’ and phone showed distances just fine. Third time out, watch same thing and phone couldn’t find the course when standing on the first tee. Quit both apps on watch and phone and watch kept ‘looking’ so I turned it off in the watch app. Uses a ton of battery on the weekly 9 hole game. Loved it when it worked on the watch but will be looking for a different app or by a rangefinder.

Apple Watch part is almost great. I have an Apple Watch 3. When you lift the watch to see the yardage, which is thee killer feature, it takes a while to "wake up" and settle on a yardage. It's just enough to be annoying. Great things, though? Entering scores on your watch. Seeing the hole layout and planning your attack with touch on the phone. And yardage in your watch. Even though it takes a bit too long.

Better ones out there. When this app works, it is just fine. But if you want to use it on a smart watch it will not work well for you. The app does not stay on. You have to reopen it for almost every shot. Since it shuts itself off, it won’t track your fitness. Also, scorecards on the app for a couple places I played are not up to date and I never received a response or saw a change after multiple e mails were sent for them to update scorecards. I paid for a year service and used it for a couple months before biting the bullet and paying another $30 for Golf Shot GPS. Do yourself a favor and go straight for Golf Shot.

4 stars for not using the gps on Apple Watch. Bummer my phone has to stay on me all the time. Or set my bag equidistant away from the hole to get the exact location to track my shot. Developers… there is gps in the watch. Other then that it’s a great phone app. I love the feature of keeping my scores. Also club distances and suggestions for elevation changes and wind.

Great simple good app for free with no catch. I have been searching through golf apps to pair with my Apple Watch to golf. Out of all of the apps I have tried this is by far the best. I was suprised not only how great this app is but that with it being free there is no catch. If you want to upgrade you can, but for free u can track distance to the tee each shot, your handicap, score etc. but to be able to see distance to the hole each shot at so many courses. This app is amazing!

Subscription. Don’t fall for the subscription trap! Signed up a year ago to try the premium and forgot about it. Then got charged the next year and noticed less then a month in and contacted support for a refund. They said they couldn’t do anything about it. I asked if they could just charge me for the month they said no. Doesn’t make any sense to me refund my account and charge me for the month I didn’t use it. Just a trap to get more money out of you. Zero notification before charging me. Never heard of a company not working with a customer on something like this. And definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Try another one.

Connor Creasy: U. Of Georgia app review. My name is Connor Creasy and I am a college player at the University of Georgia. I have been using the Swing U app for about 3 months now and I love everything about it. There is no more guessing on what I need to work on. The app clearly displays my statistics from each round and an overall analysis from every round I have entered in the app. It has definitely made it easier to improve my game since I started using the Swing U app.

Needs work. This app does everything it says. It's free. It's a score card. It shows yardages. The problem I had was atrocious and may make me delete this app altogether. I have an iPhone and was using the app on my Apple Watch. I don't want to pull my phone out after every shot to see where I am so I use the watch to keep track of everything. The problem is that every time my watch screen went black, the app closed on it. This made it every bit as inconvenient as using my phone. I had to reopen the app several times. After about 7 holes, I gave up. It was too time consuming to use. Please fix this.

Good on Phone, not so much on Apple Watch. I’ve used the iPhone app for several years and it’s been solid. I recently got an Apple Watch for the sole reason of having the ability to have distance and score keeping on my wrist. About 10 rounds in now and I have only completed 1 round without some sort of trouble. The very first round, the watch spent the whole time “Looking For Round”. Since then, midway through the round the app hangs up and the iPhone app seems to think I’m not on the course. Yesterday, it had the wrong holes (par 4 instead of Par 3), and by the 5th hole, it no longer thought I was on the course. Going to give a subscription to Golfshot a try, bummer since I paid for this one annually.

Was great....now?. I absolutely loved this app the first year or two. Then they did an update and I couldn’t get my watch to work for months!! Now it works but frequently returns to an error as if my phone app isn’t working. Once I start a round on the phone, I shouldn’t need to open it on my phone again (how it was originally). Now I have to use my phone at least 6-10 times per round. Refreshing GPS on watch, when it’s working right, takes much longer now, also. If it’s not better when my annual plan expires, I’ll cancel and pay for a different one.

Love SwingU, but can’t turn off Green Map. I love SwingU. However, I play in a league that doesn’t allow Green Reading devices of any kind. The Green Map can’t be turned off anywhere, not in the settings or Tournament mode. I contacted support and they feel the app meets USGA rules, but it clearly shows slopes; so I don’t know. This would be a simple switch in the settings or one additional mode that turns off the green maps during the round. Please add this!

Overall satisfied. The app is a great source to track your scores with your Apple Watch. The four stars was because there can still be improvements for the Apple Watch where if you’re not in distance of your phone you can’t plug your score in until your near your phone. The distance calculator works great as well but only if you are near your phone due to the Bluetooth. But overall as long as you have your phone near by, it’s a great app!

SwingU. The free version version works well except for high battery use. Difficult to complete a round if it takes more than 3 hours. The picture quality in satellite view is still not good enough on a sunny day. My concern is more about the quality of the picture than the battery life. It is still difficult to see details in bright light.

Great but... Premium benefits??. We’re lucky to have this app. I’m grateful for such a superior app, however, I accidentally purchased the paid one and cannot see any benefits, and I certainly won’t be using them. I immediately asked to be refunded via Apple inc. but no response. The only reason I’m not too angry is because I consider it a donation. I don’t see or grasp how app developers make enough money from these so I’m certainly not going to gripe too much about something so good and free!

Also, I watch issue but different. I never use the Phone app, so I cannot comment on that. However, the watch issue is that it always opens and tries to start a new round. Then it takes several steps just to close that down. It’s Sunday morning. I have not played golf since Tuesday. My watch just randomly open that app As if I was playing.

Too confusing. Firstly, I was put off by the demand for a credit card that the app “would not charge”, to track my personal content, which apparently included all sorts of streaming services. I don’t want to watch movies or play video games through my golf gps/scorecard app. All of those streaming capabilities were highlighted before I could do anything golf related. Secondly, there was no apparent way to add recent scores so that my handicap could be computed—just repeated windows demanding my credit card for “sign up”. Sorry, I don’t get how any of this was ignored by the positive reviewers. I deeply regret trying to sign up, and deleted the app before ever taking it on a course.

Outstanding!. This app is incredible! I have only used it for one round so far but can’t wait to get back out there. I love it and am totally hooked, but a couple features I would like to see: - The ability to view your tracked shots from completed rounds in the geomap view from the app (I noticed this is supported on desktop web browser but not in the app). A “round walkthrough” feature would be really cool. - The ability to share completed rounds with friends

Good for GPS, Not a good stat tracker.. There are SO many golf apps that offer free GPS, and my home course even has it in the golf carts, so really don’t need another GPS app. However, I paid for the Premium 1 year subscription hoping that I could track the stats of my round. Played first round with Premium, boy was I disappointed. Very basic stats; putts, fairways, penalty & sand (yes or no, really?!). Missing stats such as chips, and the one that very few apps have, “first putt distance”. Ideally sand would allow you to track fairway or greenside AND how many strokes. Unless the above stats are added in future updates, no use for this app for me… canceling premium.

SWING U VERSUS — College Player. As a collegiate golfer at a Division 1 University, the SWING U APP has been vital to my improvement and finding the areas of my game that specifically need work. Using the strokes gained statistics and GPS, I am able to setup a plan and strategy for all of the courses I play for tournaments and practice along with analyzing the data almost immediately after every round to improve my game. Truly one of the best golf apps out on the market!

Unreliable. Been using this app for a few years. Most of the experience is good. When it works it works well, but when it doesn’t it’s very frustrating to say the least. Past few weeks has been pretty unreliable from not getting proper distance updating to the app just going black screen and having to wait several minutes or force quit and reopen the app. Going to be looking at other apps for the future unless they can get this worked out. Update...Tried again for the last and final time this weekend. Complete fail, had others in my group that use the app too that had issues the entire round. Will be unsubscribing and demand a refund!

Calculating sand saves. I love this app and have been using it for five years. My only complaint is the way it calculates sand saves. The sand saves should be calculated the same way the tour players do it. It should only apply to greenside bunkers, and any up and down out of a greenside bunker is considered a sand save regardless if it is for par or not. The way it should work is like this: A player would only mark he was in the bunker if it was a greenside bunker. If he says yes to sand and has a one putt, that would be considered a sand save.

Just a thought. Just downloaded but haven’t had the chance to try it yet so I’ll give stars later. I see your using google terrain for images which is cool but I came up with an idea last week when my boss showed me his drone. As he was flying it (it has auto settings of all sorts) he had a setting to fly 25 feet off the ground. As I watched his drone shoot video I immediately thought wow would it ever be sweet to have this view of each hole on a golf course. As a player approached each tee box it would be an awesome feature to get a perspective of the hole from tee box to green in a short video format. His drone can fly 32 mph so each video would only have to be maybe 10-15 seconds. Possibly a purchase option? I know I would gladly pay to have that perspective of each hole I’m about to play. Just a thought

Pun intended Subpar. For a decent yardage it’s an ok app. Plays like yardages are not even close. The shot tracking is cumbersome. Having to scroll on the watch with the dial rather than just swiping or tapping on the club takes too long. I’m going to keep trying with it but some form of automatic shot tracking would be great. Entering your score at the end of the hole is a bit much. Too many times I am having to figure out which selection I got wrong just to put the score in. I will keep trying with it until I find a better alternative.

Super app! Get it!. I’ve been using it for 2+ years. Accurate, inexpensive for the full version and works well with the Apple Watch. Support is outstanding and responsive. My course didn’t have the front and back yardages on my Apple Watch. Emailed support on Sunday, got an answer back that night and the database was updated on Monday. Unbelievable! Shot data entry is easy on either iPhone or AW. I use it on every hole to keep my stats. The wind information is good and legal for all play. I steer all my friends to the app! A real value and great tool for any golfer.

Huge Help on My Professional Golf Journey. Swing U has been a huge part of my journey as I have progressed through the professional ranks. The feedback it offers to analyze the biggest areas for growth in my game is second to none. My favorite feature in the app is the immediate feedback after posting a round. I can directly see the areas in my game that we’re great and then ones that I’ll take to the range to improve.

Best Free Golf App, But.... I have used this app for a long time. It’s awesome to see how much it has improved/updated over the years. Best thing about the app is that it’s free with lots of features. However, recent updates with ads and premium upgrade popups made it less enjoyable to use. It asks to upgrade constantly when you open the app, navigate between screens, enter scores, etc. Viewing previous rounds triggers so many ads. Hopefully, they can make these things less intrusive. I don’t mind ads but would also like to enjoy the app :)
