iPhone user. I love this app! How many times do I have to chase down the produce guy and ask him how to choose the right fruit/vegetable? And then how to store when I get home? This answers it all!!! Thank you! I wrote to the developer and immediately got a friendly, informative answer. Well worth the price. No more lousy fruits and veggies, and no more rotting cause I don't know how or for how long to store them! THANK YOU!!!

Will save you money. After I bought this app and started using it to pick and store my produce, I stopped buying more than I could use before it went bad, and stopped needing to clean so many rotting veggies out of my fridge. This app has paid for itself many times over. Plus, now I get to ask the farmers market people interesting questions about varietal differences, instead of bozo questions like "Do I store this in the fridge?"

Almost perfect!. This is a great app for those of us looking for what's in season. My only issue is I live in Florida and it's a state that includes several growing zones... Therefore what's in season up north many not be down south and vice versa. Maybe a growing zone feature would be nice? Also maybe (in the future) calorie and nutrition info for produce. Overall, great job. The creators have gone to great lengths to provide specific info and great pictures. Also impressed with how many fruits and veggies included- the tropical fruits are listed! Pesticide info also a huge plus. If you are trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies into your diet you can't go wrong with this handy app. Well done!!!

Wish I hadn't bought. Very little in season info for most months and some had nothing listed. With all the fruits and veggies out there and what I get in my CSA this is absolutely not true. They should have done more research & add tons more before having this as a feature. Wish I hadn't bought it.

Great App. I love it. The design is awesome. This has been a great help to me in the grocery store! I love the pesticide info...very helpful since my groceries stores don't always have a lot of organic selections. Harvest is one of my most used apps and it has never crashed. Wish I could say the same for many of my other apps!

Here I come farmers' market!. This is THE best app to have at your local farmers market. What is in season, how to pick out the best of what's available and how to store your veg.

Needs larger better photos. Good app, but the photos are too zoomed in and most cases do not show a complete photo of the fruit or vegetable. This makes it impossible or difficult to identify an item which the user maybe unfamiliar with.

My Best Buddy in the Grocery Store!. Harvest is the epitome of what a user-friendly app should be. Love to see that there was so much thought put into the update with new colors and additions. The app already paid for itself. I never have spoiled fruit or vegetables anymore, and I know when to save money on organic items with the pesticide meter. This app is worth every penny!

I now know what to buy and how to keep it fresh longest. Brilliant app. I know know which foods I must obtain the organic version of AND how to know if the food is perfectly ripe AND how to store the produce at home to maximize "shelf life" and freshness. Worth every penny!

Only Essential Apps. This app needs an UPDATE. Papaya, tomatoes & potatoes are high up on the GMO LIST. Produce that need to be added cashews, Brazil nut, almonds, breadfruit & etc. inaccurate info such as guava, which has pesticides. Add health benefits & nutritional value of produce. The information in this app is opposite of what USDA Studies have found from testing.

Great!. Near perfect app with a responsive developer! Contacted the dev about a feature that Harvest does not yet have (which would make it perfect), and was informed that the feature is being worked on now and will be in an update soon. Beautiful app, very useful, has me eating more and better produce, and has a responsive and conscientious developer! 5 STARS!

This Is Awesome!. Ignore the bad reviews from the want-to-be foodies. Real Foodies already know this stuff. This app is for those of us that weren't raised on the farm, so produce aisles are intimidating. I've never really known what to look for, or how to care for the stuff once I got it home; for the first time, I feel confident about the choices I'm making in my attempts to eat healthier. I'm also not watching my hard-earned money rot. Words cannot convey my appreciation to the folks that created this app. Do I feel the price was a good value? ABSOLUTELY!

Outstanding. I use it while I'm shopping and before I put the produce away once I get home. I've found this to be an incredibly valuable, handy app to have! An extensive list of produce, lots of information, a simple and intuitive interface, and a nice design. And the updates just keep making it better! I absolutely love this app!!

Missing Many Inseason Veggies. Where is cardoon/burdock, sunchoke, quince, etc? All are in season in California

The Harvest App is spectacular!. The one stop shop for buying, storing and keeping current on fruits & vegetables in season and in your local area! The pics are beautiful and the pesticide info will forewarn you of what to stay away from! Kudos to Sean for such intensive work for our well being that can be appreciated by all!! Michele

Almost perfect!. I love this app and agree with other reviewers who said it saved them time, money and I've definately gotten a much better quality of produce since I began using the app. The ONE thing I wish was different is a description of the VARIETIES of each fruit or veggie including their best uses (ex: bosc pear...taste, texture, good for x, y and z....bartlet pear...taste, texture, good for x, y and z). THAT BEING SAID: fantastic app and thank you for creating it! :)

Great resource!!. Really enjoying this little app when I visit the farmers market every week. It provides tips on how to pick the ripest fruits and vegetables...but the best thing has been in the information on how to store them for maximum freshness. I've already learned a lot about how to store things differently...which means this app has already paid for itself several times over. Developer was very open to adding a variety of squash I suggested, as well. Looking forward to updates for Harvest!

This is What the iPhone/iPod are Great For. Yes, it's $2.99, but a book that provided you with the same information would cost more and be a great deal bulkier. This is one of those simple but very useful utilities that lends itself to a handheld device. Of course, the future version with Smell-o-Vision will provide a sample of the scent that just-ripe piece of fruit should have.

Practically perfect in every way.... 1. Tips on storage are the most useful advice. I have saved $$$ by learning how to properly store arugala-zucchini. My produce lasts longer than ever. 2. I consider myself a pretty good produce picker, but if you've ever had a recipe that calls for a produce you're not familiar with then this app will tell you how to choose. 3. My second favourite part of the app is the peak season of your particular produce. I love fruits and veggies at the height of their picking season. //// One thing I would love to see in an update is a calendar, similar to a facebook events calendar that let's you know what's in peak season for your area. Then this app would be my absolute fav.//////

Fantastic Tool. I used this for the first time yesterday while shopping for produce. It came in handy as I can never remember how to tell if certain fruits are ripe. I never can remember EWG recommendation fir organics, either. Perhaps in the future there will be sub groupings of different varieties if fruits (apples, etc) and veggie ( lettuces ) Great app!

Very useful in the grocery store. I'm often not sure how to pick the best fruit when I'm at the store. Now I can pull out my iPod Touch and do a quick check on the specific item and become an immediate expert. I've used it many times since buying it to make sure I'm making a good selection. Knowing what fruit will ripen at home and which won't is a great help as well. Now my wife is much likely to be happy with the fruit I bring home and we're less likely to end up throwing fruit out because of poor selection.

Handy when shopping. For most kinds of produce, it lists their typical pesticide levels, but more useful to me are the tips for identifying the best specimens (I can never remember how to pick the best cantaloupes or pears or whatever).

Delicious app!!! Totally useful and worth it!. This has been a most useful app for me and my daughter! We go to the store and choose the produce we want and weed out what isn't in season, and end up with amazing produce... Most if the time! Lol! It's an awesome app that really works. I also hear they are working on being able to see a list of only items that are in season... Can't wait! :)

Fantastic App!. This is the greatest app. I use it not only for grocery shopping, but it's very handy for harvest & storage info for things in your garden too. I do have one request for a future update though. It would be great to be able to mark certain items as favorites, and to be able to sort the lists. Then you could reduce the lists to exclude the things you never buy. Thanks for a very useful app!

Inaccurate information. Purchased this app, however I was disappointed at the lack of correct information based on the area in which you live and the app states that certain produce are in season year round, when anybody that knows anything about produce knows that is wrong. Just because some produce is available year round doesn't make it "in season". This app also does not list all produce in accordance with your region, for example I live in California where we have watermelon it's seasonal however watermelon isn't even listed in California. Anyways purchase at your own risk, the information needs a lot of updating and research done to make it a viable app at this point.

Harvest. Thus is an awesome app and very helpful in many different aspects. As a new produce manager for a nationwide grocery store chain this has been a very important tool. I use it on a daily basis not only for the customers in our store but as an additional training tool for all my new employees. Thanks for all the great information.

Gets even better with version 1.2. With the changes from v1.1 to v1.2 (e.g., alphabetical scrolling), this app continues to be equal parts utility, simplicity, and creativity. Can't wait for v2.0. For those who look at the pesticide information, be sure to read the explanation provided through the question mark button "?" -- shows you the pesticide levels are determined based on how food is typically eaten, meaning just because you wash and peel a fruit does not mean you are rid of the pesticides.

Good App. I love that you know what's on season in your state and love the tips on how to select and store. If you could put general harvest times in the description so we know if the produce begins at the beginning of the month or need to wait until the end it would make this app perfect!

This little app will not be a disappointment.. Harvest delivers as promised and it's clean design enhances the easy and intuitive user experience. Just think... for less than the cost of a chai latte you can become the produce guru on the block! Harvest has already earned a permanent spot on my phone. It is a handy reference both in planning my menu or at the market making selections. Did I mention I love this app?

Excellent. Smooth, easy-to-use interface, comprehensive info that helps you buy and try new produce with confidence. Was missing imagery of the produce that was less close-up at first, but found that the detail close-ups work just as well to help you correctly identify produce while shopping. Super responsive developer who respects his users and values their feedback. Looking forward to a way to filter items by season, a 5-star app when that gets implemented!

Excellent. Just what I was looking for...Takes the guesswork out of buying produce.

Not worth it if you garden and know vegetables and fruits. I was excited when I read the reviews of this ap and thought that I would learn about various vegetables that seem exotic to me. But the information covered is awfully basic and the kinds of vegetables and fruits are the garden variety kinds. I wanted to know about the ripening of all different kinds of melons, for example, but the ap provides only information that everyone already knows about the generic melon. Or I wanted to know about the properties of all the different kinds of apples now in the stores in the north-east. So I am disappointed.

Not only do I really like this app as is, but I emiled Sean (the developer) with some suggestions abour including more information regarding peak seasons in a future update and he quickly got back to me with with a very thoughtful response. I get the feeling that he takes pride in making this app the best resource it can be, and think he will put our some great updates moving forward. For now, just go ahead and spend $2.99 and get it... Even if it just helps you get one delicious cantalope vs. one crummy one, you'll have gotten you money's worth right there!

More Please! :-). this app is really a great resource, and intuitive to use! my only suggestions for improvement are: 1. bigger hi-res pictures that show both the outside and inside of the fruit/vegetable. Your pictures are great, just need them bigger to help identify them... especially the ones we may not be familiar with... 2. having grown up in the Pacific Islands & SW U.S. I'd love to see more of the variety of fruits & veggies I grew up with - cactus, agave, plantains, Palm, taro root, etc... 3. snazzier icon! silly - but, it might catch people's eye better? Keep up the great work!!! As more & more people are moving towards "whole food" diets (the way it used to be) - you will become an valuable resource! Wishes for many successes to come! :-)

Useful and sleek. Not only is this app tremendously helpful in selecting the highest quality produce and then storing them properly, but it's beautifully designed and fits well with iOS 8. The interface is aesthetically minimalistic and intuitive. I love that each entry has a high resolution picture and a matching color scheme. The pesticide levels are nice to have as well when deciding whether or not to buy organic. It is one of my favorite apps and was well worth the money. Thanks!

Very useful app. This is a great app to have while grocery shopping. The pesticide meter at the bottom helps when making the choice between conventionally or organically grown produce. After too many purchases of under ripe or past its prime fruit and veggies, I love having a better way to pick the best items instead of endlessly thumping/sniffing/weighing/poking/prodding items! I look forward to using my new knowledge at the summer farmer's markets.

So very helpful!. I am really grateful for this app. Too many times in the produce section I observe that the fruit is not quite fresh, and struggle in vain to remember if it will ripen after I get home with it. Will I need to put it in a paper bag to ripen? Too many times I get home with my produce and do not know whether to refrigerate it, whether I have to keep it away from bananas, etc. Many thanks. Dig it!. As someone who is not an "expert" grocery shopper, this app is very helpful. We all have those items that we'd just pick randomly and assume the store put ripe ones out - mine were pineapples! Now I know what to look for! Plus, I hate wasting food!! I never knew if I should put something in the fridge or on the window sill, and I now know this too. This app is very elegant and I love using it. Thank you Harvest for helping me with my shopping!

Localisation is a hidden trap. Sounds great right? See what's in season and enjoy the tastiest fruit? Looks like it works perfect. Except if you're not in the U.S. What the description fails to tell you, and what it only tells you AFTER you've bought the app is that the U.S is the ONLY supported country despite the app being sold worldwide. A sneaky and outright slap-in-the-face act by the developers. Appalling and should be removed from every App Store that is not the U.S App Store.

I like it. This is a cute App that is useful once in a while. It could be great to have more uncommon food in it, because it is for this purpose that we bought the App. I was looking at Paw Paw the other day... looks like a papaya, but different shape. Paw Paw was not on the list. In the "storing" section, it would be great if on each fruit-veggie, we could know if it can be frozen or not. I don't remember if the App asked to get my current location at the beginning, but when I have information on the "peak season" of a fruit-veggie, I never know if that applies to me (in Australia). I would like to choose a few country, and have them listed like this: peak season in: East-Canada: ... France:... Australia...

What a great idea.. All good ideas are simple, and this is definitely a good, simple idea. With cooking shows being the flavour of the decade people are out there trying stuff they've never bought before and don't have a lot of experience buying. This is such a useful little guide to produce and how to shop for (and store) it. It's good looking, easy to use and has enough information to give you a good idea of what you're looking for. It's a really excellent resource and I hope they keep adding produce and detail to the database. It may not be something you'll use every day, but if you use it more than twice ever, it'll already have saved you money in terms of storing your produce for maximum life and freshness. Nice work guys, please keep expanding the database as this app really shines when you're shopping for the more obscure items you don't see every day.

Great Resource. Often with apps they are very US-centric, which is a problem when living in Australia. Happy to report Harvest has a great range of produce. Looking forward to using it again on my next trip to a farmers market. I too would like tips on how to best cook a particular item

Handy information, well presented. Harvest is handy when buying produce. It helps you pick the best produce, and a feature I particularly like, it gives you an indicaton of the amount of pesticides in it. It is a well-designed, attractive app. Additionally, I contacted the developer with a minor suggestion and was quite impressed with his responsiveness.

No Canada. Would be nice if app included Canadian provinces

U.S only. They should make it more obvious that it only works for the United States before you pay for it. Why even offer it on canadien iTunes. This is ridiculous 0/10

Well done. Beautifully designed with a simple, utilitarian, and thoughtful design. As for the app itself, I think it's a great addition to the screen of someone who has just started living alone or been asigned the task of shopping around. Sure you can google (or Bing) around and find the same info, but Harvest makes sure it's at the tip of your fingers. It might suffer from information deficiency, bit for a quick look at what your about to get your hands on, it's a good resource. Recommended.

Sleek & useful. One extra thing I'd like is a sort by season, if possible. Would like to see which fruit/vegetables are best RIGHT NOW.

So easy!. I've just returned from the store. Not only was I able to select fabulous mangoes, but I knew to limit my purchase due to short storage life. Suggestions: maybe add "serve this with.... " or "compliments... " Also, maybe simple recipes (like smoothies, etc)

Close, but not quite. The level of detail for each is nice. But thumbing thru the app to find each item in the produce isle just to find its in-season time, is just not practical and makes the app only Good for me. Please add an "in-season" sorting capability.

Cool Concept. This is a cool app, and I find it to be quite helpful. However, it is currently apple season in New York, and apples are not on the list of "in season" produce. Very very bizarre. Perhaps this is a glitch.

I will no longer ruin my precious avocados by putting them in the fridge BEFORE they ripen & then wonder why they won't ripen - who knew!!! App suggestion. While searching the produce guide section of the app it should but doesn't show you the months and out of season produce will be back in season.

Not really a fan . This app has a way to go before it is truly worth $2.99!!! For that price it should include several other features including preparation suggestions and a much larger variety of items. It would have been nice to know how to select and prepare the Spaghetti squash i got today. Not a keeper!!

Good idea, but very pricey for the bit of information it offers. The information is general and what one already knows. Also, how is one to read the pesticide information? There is no explanation. I can't figure out what part of the gage shows high and what shows low - does the dark color mean it's high or low?

Great ap and money saver. I used to try to buy everything organic, But that can be very expensive. With this app I can decide what to buy conventional because it's clean, and what to buy organic because the other option is very dirty.

Informative, but should be better. It is informative for what it is, but needs the following to make it a five star app: Photographs: Kind of shocking that the images are tiny (1/5 of the page) and almost completely unhelpful. An "in season" button: It's nice to see when Passion Fruit are in season, but it would be more helpful to have a "What's In Season Now" button.

So useful. This app is great for grocery shopping use it all the time I would love to see a monthly calendar of what is in season instead of having to click on every item to see it. Love it!. I've picked some perfect canteloupe and pineapple thanks to the tips in this app. It has paid for itself many times by helping me to choose good produce that my family eats and enjoys. :-)

Best app ever. I used to walk blindly buying fruits and vegtables and not knowing about harmful pesticides since I purchased this app it's changed my life I lost 120 pounds I know longer have allergies it's so awesome and I recommend it for the world I wish it could be in every grocery store

Great Harvest!. I access this app on almost all my visits to the market. I'm constantly forgetting what fruits and vegetables I should buy organic vs conventional and this app rescues me every time! I've even had other shoppers ask me what app I'm using and they download it right there.

Such a wonderful ap!. I use this ap almost daily. It is incredibly useful and has really allowed me to keep my produce fresh and tasty. So grateful for this amazing ap! Favorite parts: storing advice and how to best pick an item (especially useful for those random pieces of produce.)

Missing some items.. I asked the developers to add clementines about 2 years ago and they said they would and never have. I guess they are similar to oranges. Overall this app has helped me with picking and storing veggies and fruits.
