ESPN+ Is a Mess. If you are using this app to get scores and updates, it’s good. However, I use it for ESPN+ and watch ESPN FC on a daily basis. I must say, the organization of both the phone and Apple TV app is awful. Trying to view the latest episode is so hard, especially on Apple TV. First, there is no feature to subscribe to a show. You just have to browse around to find it. Second, once you get to the episode listings they are not listed chronologically from newest to oldest and are not titled the same way each time. Sometimes they have the date in the title, sometimes they don’t. Sometimes the newest episode is at the top, sometimes it’s in the middle, and other times it’s literally all the way at the bottom. Additionally, if you watch the broadcast live and then pause it, the stream goes all the way back in time to the pre-roll stuff and you can’t go back to live or where you left off! The service seems half baked right now and I’m not sure I’m going to continue to subscribe at this point and time. It’s a shame they relegated ESPN FC to this service.

Used to love this app.. needs to improve to be back at the top. i love this app but there is zero reason why when navigating back to the college basketball scores from exiting the score of a single game the app just crashes and completely freezes for 10 seconds until you can navigate and scroll to see other scores or other score categories. This should not be happening on an iphone 14 pro max. its not the hardware, the app needs to improve. there is zero reason why theScore is more reliable and operates better than espn. probably all pf the ads that have to load that slow the app down every time you load something different. it's sad. it's faster to go to another app to get an accurate score than trying to exit and refresh a list of scores on espn the world wide leader in sports. im sorry for being harsh but like come on. the app functions better on an ipad than a phone with the issue i am describing. an ipad does have a faster processor but like its a 14 pro max and i cant load scores on wifi?

Wish i had more hands. At least 4 thumbs down. If you love ads and miss regular cable commercials this is the app for you. ESPN is the world wide leader in sports no question so i find myself using the app out of habit but not by choice. I would delete but i pay ESPN+ for soccer matches. Most apps start free, then they up sell you by telling you hey pay and we get rid of or minimize ads. Not ESPN. You got ads, commercials, and content trying to run at the same time causing the app to, in simple terms, not work. Sad to say but i think the only thing that really works flawlessly in this app is the running of the ads however they can only seem to figure out how to run THE SAME ad over and over again. At least cable tv switches up the commercials and u might run into something you might actually want. Espn runs the same ad before anything and everything you click there is no escaping it. I’d go as far as to say the ads work better than most of the videos they post of the actual content you are looking for. Tap in for a highlight you will get a flawlessly run ad followed by a barely functional video of the content you want. And if u miss that video and try to replay guess what, ANOTHER AD, the same ad, the same exact one u just watched. Insanity. I doubt anyone at ESPN cares they are suffering from success at the highest level. However when a formidable opponent comes along they will be in big trouble.

Deleted 1 day after buying. I bought espn+ to catch the football game Friday night (sugar bowl) and I tried and tried to get the game on but it kept saying “your package doesn’t have this content available” and with up charging they coulda had a sale Friday night because I needed that game on! But no matter what I did the game would not play nor tell me how to upgrade so I could watch the game. I searched and searched for over an hour while my party was going on and could not find a way to up upgrade further than ESPN+ in order to watch this game that it claims you could watch on their app by upgrading!!! Sorry espn your app does not work well and the app designers should be paid more to make it a better app in my opinion. In business if your having trouble then that means your not investing enough into you business and that tells me there is major greed going on in the upper management. My suggestion: pay your employees more and if that doesn’t work then hire new app designers because there is a lot of missing information that needs to be accounted for in the design of this app.

How?. I honestly have no idea how a company with as much money as this has such an awful app. It’s slow, bordering on unresponsive sometimes. My phone is flaming hot after a few minutes of use on the app, although that could just be my phone and not the app. I get a lot of alerts on from ESPN, but when I click on them, it’s about a 50/50 shot of whether or not I get to see what I clicked. Ads freeze all the time, keeping me from getting to a video I click on. Videos also typically start at about 4 pixels on the screen and get marginally better as the video goes on, no matter if I’m connected to my very good WiFi or my cellular data. The amount of content is also a little subpar. When you look at an app like Bleacher Report that produces an insane amount of well-done and free content on an app that actually works, the paywall of ESPN+ is just silly. Streaming from the app is also nearly impossible for me. But the website is just as bad. The content that I actually get to see is usually pretty good stuff, making it a two star rating instead of a one star. Considering the money ESPN and Disney have, they should be embarrassed about the quality of their app and their website.

Paid content should be better. Update: Still horrid. Now the App does popup advertising while you are in the middle of watching a live game. It isn’t just because the writing & coverage is way better that people subscribe to other Sports content providers like The Athletic over ESPN. But also because they allow you to filter out the Sports & content you don’t want. ESPN allows you to select the sports and teams you want to follow but they generally ignore these settings and totally overwhelm with content you don’t want. You don’t follow follow MMA or WWE? Too bad ESPN will inundate you with ads and PPV offers before you get to the sport you want. You paid for ESPN? Sucker that doesn’t mean extra value. Too bad we need to make money! Geez you want to filter for the sports you want? Please navigate to the bottom of the screen every friggin time because we ignore & forgot the Sports you like. Oh want to watch 2 games ar once? Oops we forgot the filter setting you set and will show 43 college basketball games you have to sort before getting the 2nd game you wanted. I wish I could get my content elsewhere cause ESPN Is horrid. Can’t believe you clowns give this a 4.6 rating.

Garbage. ESPN provides the worst service possible. You pay for a subscription, find whichever sport you want to watch and you will be prompted with buying a more expensive package. For example, I purchased the ESPN+ package for a year, once I’m logged in (doesn’t matter what platform, xbox, iphone, etc.) the app either crashes when you try to stream something or give you the good ol’ message “unauthorized user” or “login to tv provider”…. So considering I cancel my TV services specifically to switch to streaming services, only to find out ESPN will require you to login to a TV provided.. It goes to to show how useless the service is. Past are the days you can watch your local college football team without paying premium prices. Not to mention, whichever team you follow, it’s likely they will broadcast games on other networks through out the season.. meaning ESPN doesn’t always have the game available for your team. I’ve found myself scrambling to find the game on other networks because ESPN cannot provide. It will only cost more overtime. Choose what’s important to you because this service is NOT worth it.

Delay of game.... 5 yd penalty on ESPN+..... I would say once you actually get the ESPN+ app installed it works pretty well on Roku and is easy to navigate with the remote......the big problem is it literally takes a PhD and engineering degree to get the app installed on a non QLED TV which many do not have esp if you’ve purchased a tv prior to 2017.....ESPN also failed to offer a heads up on this so if you have an older tv be prepared for a long set up process.....after about 8 hours and a trip to the store to purchase said Roku device we hunkered down to watch Connor v cowboy....sad to say 40 secs was a huge letdown but it looks like the UFC lineup In coming months looks promising....One other note....the sound was on a 10-15 sec delay which was annoying and unacceptable...I’m wondering if anyone else had this issue....I did appreciate the discounted price for the fight so overall some good and some bad points...work on that streaming being in sync and we’ll be back with another review after the next fight....GO NINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In-app Ads are Terrible, Streaming doesn’t work. The built in ads that appear within the feed of scores are the most poorly designed buttons of all time. The ads will open with a simple scrolling motion, not even a click. It’s constantly redirecting me to the App Store or safari when I’m just trying to scroll past. Also, ads embedded within videos will play with no option to back out of the video screen. You’re forced into watching an ad for a video you don’t intend to watch! A 30-second ad will play for every video clip regardless of duration, and a new one will begin after a clip ends without being able to back out of it. Give the ads a rest. You already charge $10 a month for an espn+ subscription and you continue to cram ads down the users throat while providing generally terrible video clips. Also, I’ve completely given up trying to stream video through my TV subscription. Streaming has NEVER worked despite having an active tv subscription. Don’t advertise a product that you can’t support on your mobile app. The ONLY nice thing about the app is the relative accuracy of the real time score updating.

Why ESPN has lost its way. I am going to be pausing my ESPN viewership even though I’ve been a fan for many many years- I just cannot take the political stance that most of your commentators have. Sports used to be an escape where everybody can come together and just enjoy and forget about what’s going on in the world but now all we hear are opinions and most of them are left leaning from your staff. Hypocrisy is rampant at your company! So quick to judge people that do not wanna have government telling them to inject themselves with an untested improven vaccine. So quick to judge people that refuse to wear a mask when everybody knows they do not work. Your company has come to be everything that is wrong with America right now. Your company has taken a stand that if we don’t agree with you we should be cancelled. Freedom of speech is no longer acceptable in the eyes of the left and since your company has taken that position I can no longer subscribe to your channels. If in the future you go back to just broadcasting sports without all the left leaning political commentary I will go back and start watching again. When your viewership starts to tank you’ll understand that the silent majority has spoken!!

An exercise in futility. Firstly: I subscribed because of the UFC partnership so my experience is limited to that aspect. First problem is the interface. Everything is just jumbled it. The site has a million different links even once you select the MMA tab and it is unclear where to go. There are multiple search tabs and as far as I can work out, none of them allow you to search for specific fights. Searching for fights on these (I.E. Dillashaw vs. Cejudo) just seems to give you a mash of news articles, fighter profiles and press clips. Scrolling down to the 'binge fight' sections is not much better. The fights are splayed out in no particular order and the replays are intermingled with highlight versions. No way that I can discern to look for a specific fight. When I finally found Cejudo vs Dillashaw (which aired exclusively on this platform) it said the fight hadn't occurred yet. It was two weeks ago. Customer Service: I decided to try the chat support. The first time I was connected to a rep. When I asked a question, the rep ended the chat. Second attempt I've been waiting for 35 minutes and running. How can the biggest sports network on earth be this terrible.

Good App, Slightly Glitchy. I’ve been using the ESPN App on my IPhone since 2018. It gives you most of the information you can find on the ESPN website, with the exception of certain specific sections of different sports homepages (for example, you cant access the college football conference standings from the college football page). I also don’t like the only the last names of players are shown in boxscores and stat columns. The website shows you their full names. Beyond that, the main complaint I have is that the app is glitchy in spots. For example, say I’m looking at the boxscore of a football game, and say I minimize the app briefly without actually closing it. When I go back to the ESPN app, it will take me to the game recap and force me to click on the boxscore again. I don’t get why thats necessary. If you’re a sports fan who is used to perusing the ESPN website, and if you’re familiar with the firsr names of the athletes, the app is a useful way to do deep dives and read columns without having to use the website through a desktop or laptop. Recommended, but its frustrating in places.

Love the redesign, hate the re-edits for rights. The past iteration of this app was a clunky mess. It was difficult to watch shows and check scores of games. Most of these problems were fixed with the new update. Like really, it is a fantastic update. The app is less clunky, the advertisements are less intrusive, and watching shows is much easier. Now here is the problem, I am watching PTI, which is the only show I actually watch on ESPN anymore and I notice that Mike and Tony are commenting on things as if video has just been show of something. However there is no video of said event just still images. The version of the show on mobile has been re-edited with all the highlights removed and replaced by still images. I understand this probably has something to do with ESPN not owning mobile rights to highlights but, come on that's the whole point of ESPN. Watching Tony and Mike comment is entertaining enough but, I want to see the thing they are reacting to. So this reediting makes the app redesign pointless because you are getting worse content. I will not be using this app until this is fixed.

A truly terrible app. While it “works” in that you can watch videos, this app is missing many obvious features and is absolutely terrible on any somewhat older iOS device. 1. You can’t hide scores in the app - This is like a no brainer. When I open the app to watch a live or on demand game, I don’t want to know the score. What’s the point of watching (particularly on demand games) when you know your team won or lost already. You can choose to default to the “watch” tab which seems to have less spoilers but every tab has scores on it and it fails to work most of the time and you are taken to the home tab, particularly if the app was left open in the background. 2. Time spoilers - there’s no way to hide the progress bar and time remaining so this also often spoils what’s going to happen. 3. Chromecast integration is embarrassingly bad. Slow, laggy, loses the connection so it keeps playing but you can’t control it. Just terrible. 4. No way to automatically queue on demand games. If you know I like a team, why not have an on demand queue and add all recorded games to that queue? 5. Slow and laggy on anything even remotely older. Performance is terrible on any older device. 6. No progress syncing between devices. If I’m logged into the same account on my iPad, iPhone and Apple TV, why does my progress in a game not sync between them? This is the year of our lord 2022, progress syncing has existed for like a decade but apparently ESPN has never heard of it.

ADS are killer!. It is obnoxiously frustrating that I see the same ad 10 times because I’m watching 7 short clips of sports. It’s seriously awful. If I click on a video, there’s an ad. If I click the next video, there’s the same ad. If I finish the video, and want to get back to an article, I can’t. I don’t know how (or why!!) but I actually can’t close the video without closing the app, being forced to watch the ad. It’s incredibly infuriating. I can’t customize the app like I used to be able to. I basically only care about the NFL, and my favorite team is the Seahawks. But I can’t ever find NFL news or highlights easily (much less Seahawks!!!) because the app is flooded with every other sport. No one has time to care about EVERY sport! Let us customize the app and get the videos and news of what we want to see! None of this matters, I’m just venting because the corporate millionaires who run the app don’t care about any of us normals who just want to have a convenient app. The problems (legitimate problems in my opinion) will never be fixed.

Great way to catch up on advertisements. If you love spending time watching ads, this is the app for you. Not only can you catch up on your favorite sports team or sports analysis, but you can also spend double the screen time on ads. Wanna catch up on highlights from last night’s game? Well that’s simple. All you need to do is select the game, click the highlight reel, watch a 30 second ad for a 10 second highlight clip, and repeat the process 5-7 times. That’s right, every video will have a 15-30 second ad. Before you ask, yes it guaranteed that the app will work perfectly at 1080p resolution for your advertisement and immediately crash your app when your video appears. Also, all of the videos auto play to the next one and pulls up an advertisement that completely freezes your screen so that you are unable to devote time towards any other distractions like sports. It also conveniently puts an ad banner over your menu bar, occasionally, so that way you can quickly access the ad’s website rather than check up on your sports team. Because that’s why you have the app, right? For the ads, not for the sports?

Always Buggy, Streaming Always Poor. I can’t believe such an incredible media conglomerate has such a terribly functioning app with constant broken links, videos that do not play and constant breakdowns in streaming. You expect the best from companies like this and it is one of the worst of all the sports apps I use on a daily basis. This has been going on for a couple years. My buddy just sent me a link to a story, I click it, it goes to some broken link “phantom” US Open streaming coverage page I never watched, as it does every time I’ve opened the app in the last few Months (yes, even after deleting and re-downloading) and then re-directs to the homepage and never to the story it was supposed to be linked too. This was the final straw, the “rate and write a review pop-up” appeared right after and finally, after a few years of being annoyed by this, I had to take my valuable time and give them the rating they deserve. Just sick of it. You upped the price on ESPN+, so how about using some of that to improve the terrible functionality and streaming and work out some of the apps myriad bugs? Figure it out!

It has been ruined. The ESPN app has been my go-to app for sports news, scores, and recaps for a long time. But it has been ruined with the latest updates and redesigns. The app is almost unusable these days. Even when I am at home, on wifi, with nothing else running on my phone, the app is slow and crashes often. Don’t even think about using it at a game or anywhere your connection isn’t perfect. They have overburdened the app with video, ads, and cookies that slow it down to a crawl or even just prohibit you from even being able to open the app at all. Today I finally jumped onto the apps “text support” to see what I could do to improve my experience. Unfortunately the ESPN support rep proceeded to first accuse me of having a bad connection. I pointed out that he was incorrect and the rep then informed me that the app stores a lot of cookies and I should just delete the app and reinstall it. This is an annoying suggestion but I did it anyway. There was no improvement. And the tactless interaction with the rep definitely did not help the situation. The point is, you can do better. Go find another app that works and was designed by a company that still cares about their user base.

Ben Harrison, President/owner. ESPN just screwed college football and dismantled any credibility it still had by not choosing FSU. FSU would beat Michigan, Washington and Texas. The only team that would give FSU a real game would be Alabama because they have a running QB. So wins don’t matter? Michigan was the weakest team of the last two CFPs. TCU smoked Michigan last year before getting crushed by Georgia. The best team Michigan has beat in 3 years was last year against a good Ohio State team and that is a rivalry game. Michigan and Washington are way overrated. Don’t get me started on the “who would be favored in what games if FSU was in the playoff?” Oregon was a huge favorite to beat Washington by 9 and lost by 3. How does that justify anything? If that is the method then why play any games? FSU does not need to play a bowl game. I could not recommend to any player which has a good chance getting drafted or play in the NFL that should take a risk to play in a meaningless bowl game; especially after getting shafted by ESPN and the committee? Why would ESPN allow that to happen? More money for ESPN? Playing the ratings hand to decide who plays for a title? This makes me sick. I am done with watching ESPN. I am blocking all ESPN channels from all of my TVs.

frustrating but i’m not deleting it. the video player on this app is absolutely ridiculous—it requires long (at least 30 second) ads to watch any video (even if the video is 12 seconds), every time (no “i watch an ad and then i can watch for a certain amount of time before another pops up”). the player also randomly (but consistently) glitches out and forces you to restart the app. most videos, if they even offer an option to watch it from the notification without clicking into the app, now only do that the literal very first time they pop up on your screen—better click right away, or else you’ll have to click and endure a painfully long process to watch (if it even lets you watch). oh, and there’s no sliding down to look at texts while an ad is playing—it pauses. also, if you start playing an ad and slide out of the app while it’s playing, it will keep going, but if you’re not back in the app when it’s done playing, you have to restart the whole process and watch another random ad you don’t care about. the whole thing just feels very short-sighted, clunky, and money-hungry. i understand espn is a business, but i believe business is best done by not cutting every corner and taking advantage of customers. at the same time, the app provides value—the scores, stats, etc. are great without being a lot (like apps like BR). i’m not deleting it, just frustrated by the video aspect.

Great App. I use a lot of sports apps and they all work pretty similarly. This one has everything the others do all in one. Once you learn how, the app is very easy to navigate. The favorite teams AND SPORTS is helpful to narrow down the news that shows up. The stories is my favorite part especially with the interactive voting. The one request I have for it is this: if there were more stories that I could just scroll through they would be a GREAT time killer. When I'm bored I like to open them up for a minute but there are only five per day if I'm correct. If I was able to scroll through those just a little bit more I would enjoy killing time watching Joe Burrow talk about his real diamonds and watching people dunk on mini basketball hoops. Other than that the articles are well written and my notifications are personalized to where I'm not getting random sports I've never heard of like for other apps. Thanks for reading, I hope it helped

No Reason They Cant Do Better. I read the top review that is two years old and it echos my feelings for the most part. The app is slow, unreliable, and the interface doesn’t seem like it’s changed since I first downloaded it to my phone 8 years ago. I love when I get a notification that I actually have some interest in and tapping it to be take to the app to stare at a black screen for eternity because it NEVER loads. Then when you reopen the app to try and find the article it’s like it never existed. Good luck trying to find any specific article or video you’re looking for. You only get to see what ESPN wants you to see. I don’t watch UFC or MMA so why do they keep sending me notifications for it? The best part is when you watch a video and the 45 second ad plays perfectly then the actual video doesn’t load and you have to reload the app and watch the ad again. Then the video ends and it goes straight into another ad before you can rewind it to watch the 5 second highlight again. Soooo bad and they don’t have to improve because there is no real competition. Super sad they are complacent

Confusing Battery Killer. The user interface doesn’t make any logical sense. Content is just kind of randomly scattered everywhere. It’s not clear where to go to watch a game and there’s no central schedule. You can see an individual team’s schedule, the most popular games in a specific league or cup (but not always in chronological order), or the big games in a sport (neither in order nor a complete list). And the order seems to change while you’re using the app! But the worst part is the battery draining while streaming. I wanted to watch a soccer game and started with 50% battery, so I plugged my phone in. By half time—with my phone plugged in and charging—the battery level had *dropped* to 18%! So I put it on low power mode, dropped the screen brightness, closed some background apps, turned off cellular and Bluetooth to use Wi-Fi only, and let it recharge during the fifteen minute break. I was able to watch the end of the match, but the battery had *continued to drain* and was at literally 3% when the final whistle blew. How is that even possible?

False Advertising. The ESPN+ app presents live sports events and upcoming sports events. If you click to watch one, it asks you to subscribe to view content. Once you subscribe, you can only view a small selection of the content. Most events require an additional TV subscription. So essentially, subscribing to ESPN+ just allows you to use their app as a platform to stream sporting events from your other TV subscriptions (most of which have their own separate app that works great on its own). It’s false advertisement on ESPN+’s part. And their customer service recommended to watch the sports I want, to continue paying for their monthly subscription but to use a different streaming “free trial” every week until I run out of free trials. My issue isn’t that i can’t afford a TV subscription, it’s that ESPN+ has made watching sports an extremely confusing mess of intertwined subscriptions. And don’t get me started on their “black outs” which add an ADDITIONAL hurdle into watching your sports teams. A hurdle, of which there is no legitimate work around (i learned this after speaking with multiple streaming provider customer services). And in addition, Apple doesnt refund the subscription. Thanks ESPN+ for continuing to limit our viewing experience and decrease my patience for watching or even caring about sports.

Quality of Articles. I use the app for updates on scores mainly. The content in terms of writing, is often old, and without substance that would differentiate from merely the score. Redundancy seems to be the theme with ESPN. Let’s just write and speak the same things over and over regardless of the audience be it on an app or television. I miss Peter Gammons and his writing, but I will compliment Buster Olney for his piece on the Red Sox. ESPN needs more of that, and less of the redundancy. Return to the daily writing of yesteryear! Do some actually research and writing! There’re stories out there, and one of them is the return of “heat, cheese, hard-ball” through a proliferation of hard throwing relievers and starting pitching that has brought baseball back full circle. Spinning is still statistically important, but good old country hardball has returned! Here it is, hit it if you can is what every fan wants to see! Nathan Eavoldi showed the world that, of the many players in today’s game who have had Tommy John Surgery, a return to, and in some cases, new found power pitching is possible. So, country hardball, and Hope should be the theme to talk about in much more depth. Seek out minor leaguers, follow them as well, and shed light on what’s the biggest development in baseball today.

Horrible app serves. I rely on ESPN for all my sports needs.. I have given Disney alone a large chunk of my entertainment money to your company for close to 30 years. For this day and age and with all the competition I feel ESPN, and Disney should have better applications. Specifically the ESPN app on my PlayStation. It barely works and usually skips any live game I’m ever trying to watch. It’s easier to illegally stream and that shouldn’t be the case when I’m paying and have been for years. I have made multiple complaints over the years to no avail. Not even a simple response that y’all are sorry. There have been no updates or improvements to make the apps more user-friendly. Soon enough somebody will jump on it but as a loyal customer for 30 years I do feel obligated to mention a lot of people are fed up with Disney’s extremist mentality. ESPN should be strictly sports and not politics. I know a lot of people that are refusing to use any of their applications and changing their fantasy football leagues as well. I’m sure y’all will start to notice to drop off soon enough and I hope this review is helpful because ESPN was my favorite channel and place for good viewing pleasure my entire life but I can’t say the same anymore. I hope next time to leave a more positive review.

Great Streaming / Content; Horrible UI and customization. If there’s an event to watch or immediate sports news, the ESPN app is the place to watch and stay up to date. If you don’t want to know everything about the most popular sports and the sports that espn is most actively advertising, this is not the app for you. Especially if you’re paying for ESPN plus - not worth it. They do a great job from a business perspective of holding content captive but, once you’re forced to get a membership in order to watch a UFC PPV, and you think “oh cool, I’ll get some awesome content” - think again. With the lack of customization, it’s utterly disappointing. You get a lot of content but, if you’re a fight fan, the amount of content available is abysmal. Beyond that, it’s a nightmare to search for the content you want or to see specific news and updates unless that happens to coincide with whatever espn is pushing. It’s seemingly impossible to customize your feed and, even tho you pick favorites, there doesn’t seem to be an easily accessible favorites feed. I’m pretty disappointed.

Blah. This used to be my favorite app throughout the year. Because I could check game highlights and even watch the game if I were working and was away from a TV. I used to watch the videos showing different highlights but now if I pick one video about a certain football team the next video will be about some random COMPLETELY off topic vids like nascar or gold. Also the app won’t let you stop the next AD video from playing! So when that AD video stops playing then you find the next on topic video you want to watch then you have to watch another AD video!! On top of that the video quality for the first 5-10 seconds is horrible!! No matter if you pause it for a moment and restart the video from the beginning it’ll still be horrible video quality. So you spend 30-45 seconds watching one AD video then another 30-45 seconds to watch another AD video just to watch a video that’s looks like it was recorded with an old flip phone camera! I don’t know what happened but I sure do wish you all would undo it!!

TV Provider?? This is a subscription service already.. App functionality is good. I haven’t experienced any crashes or problems and it’s laid out well and intuitive. That all said, they really have to figure out a way to have no blackouts for teams you follow and care. They ask for a TV provider even I subscribe to ESPN+ (paying monthly fee). The reason I subscribe to ESPN+ is to watch live sports without the cable subscription (or the Live TV streaming service) with 50 other channels I really don’t care about. This might not be ESPN’s fault but the whole segregated licensing deals with sports has become ridiculous, a company as big as Disney should start doing something about it. Apple stood up to wireless cell companies and did not let them load the iPhones with bunch of crap advertisement software back in 2007. I am looking forward to a streaming service that lets you select your team(s) and provides you with all the games. I know it’d be (much) more expensive than $6.99 (what ESPN+ costs) but it could be worth it - if they do it right.

Everything Except Streaming is Great. ESPN, I have been all ESPN ever since I was old enough to care about sports. The writing and reporting is phenomenal, and I love to be the one in my family to break the biggest sports news. The app is great with notifications on your favorite teams and leagues as well as breaking sports news. The radio streaming and podcasts are great especially my favorites (Lebatard Show, Golic and Wingo, and 30 for 30). I will continue to use this app for all of those reasons. I do however wish you guys had full game highlights online, but I digress. The only bad thing I have to say is how god awful the streaming is. Tried to watch the ECF between cavs and Celtics and it lagged throughout the entire game when casting it to my chrome cast. It did the same just trying to watch on my phone and I have gigabit internet. I don’t know why that has always been an issue for ESPN. It has sucked since the first release of WatchESPN. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!! I’m begging you because the wife kicks me out of our tv room when I’m trying to watch the games! Thank you ESPN, and keep up the good work!

Could be great, but won’t save your place!!. I recently subscribed because of the Disney bundle and there are a lot of things I really am liking about ESPN +. I love all the old programming like all the archived Indy 500 races and Mohamed Ali fights. I also really like all the ESPN original programming like Payton’s places and being able to access all of the 30 for 30 episodes. That for me is probably one of the best things about the subscription. My frustration comes because a lot of those shows are long and I don’t watch them in one sitting You would think that there would be a ‘continue watching’ feature like every other paid, streaming subscription but there isn’t. I contacted ESPN and was told to just “remember where you were.” That seems so silly and unnecessary. Please ESPN, add a ‘continue watching’ feature and I will be a 5 star happy customer. As it is right now I have to scroll back through programming, find the show I was watching, click on it, and try to remember where I was and start fast forwarding which is a huge pain if your like me and watch different shows depending on the mood you are in.

Bunch of minor bugs for years. App is solid overall and go to it for sports news. Football (european) coverage has gotten much better which is a plus and american sports are well covered. But that brings me to the negatives… Too many times in the “my news” section does it show news for teams I do not follow and don’t care about. Highlights will continually play and automatically go to the next one even when i exit it. There are certain ads, like the apple music ones in specific, that will automatically pull me out the ESPN app even when I don’t click on them. They are driving me crazy because i have to be careful swiping through my sports news now because it happens every single time. There are also issues where images and team logos won’t load up if I open the app, so then I have to force close it and open again and everything loads fine. This has been an issue for my past two phones and is irritating as I don’t want to go to another sports app but it’s getting old.

App Problems & Poor Customer Service. I have ESPN+ and am a ufc fan. For the longest time when you click a ppv event the page comes up with the card and to select which fight to stream. All of a sudden about 10-15 ppv ago the app broke and it just shows the load screen indefinitely. I spent couple hours on the phone with customer support who said there was no issue they saw and would monitor. Spent about 30-45 min of them trying to blame my service connection speed. There was also a load problem getting into my ESPN+ profile to see my subscription info and to cancel/renew. They did not acknowledge that problem either. Needless to say I canceled my auto renewal while on the phone. After 4-6 weeks the problem still exists. The problem doesn’t exist if logging in and viewing through web browser so it’s clearly an app problem they won’t acknowledge. It’s unfortunate because prior to that I had no complaints or issues with the service. Now as they continue to ratchet up subscription costs each year by 20%+, and roughly 40% this coming year your supposed to ignore their issues and lack of technical support. Hopefully ufc partners with someone else in the future.

App user experience is bottom of the barrel. If I go to watch a short video clip (highlights for example), I’m always forced to watch an ad that is often longer than the actual clip despite the fact I pay for ESPN+. Also, on PS4, the video controls and time bar will not leave the screen unless controller is turned off. I checked Reddit, and this problem has persisted for 2 years. It’s mind-blowing that a company with the power of ESPN wouldn’t fix this immediately. The phone app doesn’t work with Googlecast on the TV; it never has for me. The app does not keep track of show progress so you can easily jump back into a season where you left off. This is the only streaming app I know of with this issue. It’s confusing for an app to have all of these issues for so long…and never have any of them fixed. It makes it much worse when you look at the assets available to espn/Disney. It’s frustrating that paying for ESPN+ doesn’t include the typical espn content like Sportscenter in the age of cord-cutting. The ONLY reason I give it 2 stars instead of 1 is because I find the ufc content entertaining…especially TUF. Basically the only reason I use this app.

Worst app of all time?. Honestly for how much money ESPN makes this app is terrible. The UI is garbage and non-intuitive, but much worse is trying to watch any sort of video. Half the time you go to watch a video, you sit through an ad just to have the video never load and have to force restart the app. If the video is from the home page feed it’s probably gone and good luck finding it again with the trash UI. If you do get lucky and the video loads it’s usually in 160p quality and stops to buffer every 5 seconds. You would think for a company making billions of dollars they could produce a better app than this junk. If there was a list of app quality compared to company worth this has to be near the top in worst apps of all time. Honestly never write reviews but after years of dealing with this app and seeing 0 improvement whatsoever figured it was worth a couple minutes to actually write one. PS: If anyone from ESPN actually reads this (doubtful) and thinks it’s my network quality or WiFi or whatever else on my end… it’s not. It’s your app.

Probably the worst app I’ve owned, but I love ESPN content. If you ask me what the worst app I own is, I could tell you without hesitation it’s the ESPN+ app. The ESPN corporate guys know it’s terrible, too - I live near the ESPN headquarters, and when I meet a guy that works there, I often tell them I have the app on my phone and they immediately flinch and start to tell you unsolicited that they can’t help with the app and their department has nothing to do with it. I have do delete it and reinstall it about once a month to get it to work. And, I need to log in through the website to successfully launch the app. After that, it will work correctly for typically a month before going haywire again. I’ve never had an app behave like this in the 5 years I’ve been on apple. It is not up to the standards of a major apple app. The content is also extremely disorganized. I’ve kept this app for 2 years because I truly enjoy the ESPN content. But, after two years, I still never know which fights it will and won’t let me see. There are some labels that are clear on what is pay-per-view - and some that aren’t (?). Great content, but it’s the only app I’ve ever owned that makes me want to toss the phone across the room - about once a month

Not sure where to rate AppleTV version. The phone version of this app is...adequate. Could definitely be improved by having a ‘don’t show me’ list, because when have I ever wanted notifications on golf or baseball, but it’s mostly fine. The Apple TV version, however, is hot garbage and I don’t understand why. I’m legitimately hoping someone can help me. There’s no favorite teams/sports list, which means I have to dig for what I want to watch every time. Again, no ‘don’t show me’ list (really good idea, please implement), no replays button on the home screen like there used to be so now to watch last nights game I have to dig...a lot, and worst of all every time I use the app. it. keeps. kicking. me. out. and showing me something about AirPlay despite me having meticulously turned off everything AirPlay related on my Apple TV. This doesn’t happen with other apps, only espn. It makes games unwatchable. ESPN actively makes sports unsupportable. All I want to do is watch my basketball game without having to dig thru layers and layers of menus to find it and without the app crashing every 3 minutes. Someone please help me. 3 stars to the phone version, -3 to the appletv version.

Push Notifications. The Espn will force push notifications through even after disabling them. You can tell the app not to give you updates on “breaking” news and it will still do it. Oh and what Espn considers breaking news is ridiculous. Most of the time it is just telling you about a instant replay you should watch. Oh? You aren’t interested in that sport and have marked it as no push notification? The Espn app doesn’t care it will still alert you. Also there are about 30 of these breaking news notifications a day so get ready to hear the Espn theme all day long. This is not an update issue. It has been this way since the app was released. It also has a issue where it will give you a notification about an article you should read but when you click on the notification the Espn app will laugh at you, spit in your face, take you to the front page of the app and then tell you that article doesn’t exist. You can find people talking about these same issues over 3 years ago on Reddit and other sites. They have never been resolved. Utter trash of an app

Final straw. The app is terrible, and always has been. It’s running joke among my friends about how bad ESPN’s app and the old “WatchESPN” were and somehow still are. I stuck with it because I love sports and grew up with it. I mean, c’mon, it’s ESPN. A beacon for sports around the world, or at least it use to be. Nowadays, the politics have gotten too much. I’m not a ‘cancel everything that has a different opinion than me’ person, but it’s clear ESPN and those running it don’t want me as a customer. The final straw was a notification of a “Racial and Gender Report Card.” That alone probably wouldn’t have been enough to cut me off, but it’s been a constant, ever-increasing attitude from ESPN for years now. I stayed on hoping they’d change, but it’s clear at this point that isn’t happening. It’s clear ESPN only wants extreme left-wing viewers, or at the very least wants to shame those that aren’t. There’s enough really good sports news/scores apps out there that I feel I won’t miss it too much. Here’s to hoping the normal, non-extremists win out there in the end. I know they’re there and likely outnumber the ideologues. But I’ve been hoping that for awhile and been disappointed. What a shame.

When it works. First of all I am grateful ESPN has LaLiga available to stream! My issue with the app is that I don’t have the ability to record for later as the European games don’t always fit the US work schedule… my biggest issue is that the app is cumbersome for members. Half the time this version does not recognize me as a returning member through my iPad and I wish I could skip news I don’t care about…screw sports I don’t care for on one level and if I am not watching my preferred team or I am “recording“ why would I want results?! No matter…my main gripe is that I always need to delete the app, download it again and login so my membership is recognized - I mean, I am paying to watch stuff and the app is more concerned I am part of the “paying customer” group that getting the game on screen!? 🤔 In any case, my dream would be a streaming package that covers most mayor soccer leagues (England, Germany, Spain, Italy,France and champions league) …right now it’s a scramble every summer before the season starts…

Slow and Uninviting. I am completely in shock this application has any 5 star reviews at all, there are so many inherent bugs and problems with this app. The application takes millions of years to load up every time, even though most of the data that is being loaded is simple numbers and pictures. The interface of the application is not conducive to finding something you need, the NBA G League and then the NHL is the first sports that shows up in my ‘scores’ section however I have NEVER touched these tabs, I frequently use the NFL NBA and MLB tabs and they are always the hardest to find why would you make it that way. More than 75% of the time when you want to read an article or watch a video from your notifications outside of the application it will load the background of the ESPN app and you could leave it open for a year you’re never getting your article or video to open up or play. And then, once you’ve opened that notification and it’s gone you will never be able to find that article or video because the videos and articles section is IMPOSSIBLE to find what you need either. Overall this app infuriates me every other day with the ridiculous bugs and glitches that seem like it’s been there for years, easy ad payment cash grab for money hungry ESPN. Fix your app

This is robbery. It’s Saturday morning and I’m trying to watch one tof the Bundesliga games! I select one and wait, only to get a blank screen. So I select another game only to have the same result. This app used to be so reliable that using the 4-up viewing option used to be seamless. You can’t even have 1 match to load now so forget about taking advantage of the other multicast options. When it decides to maybe work, then the commentary you’re hearing doesn’t match the game on the screen. So you get out and start over to experience the issues. It’s like grow hog day! It has this really cool feature that when you select your game, you get all excited and you immediately get taken back the games grid. As I’m writing this review I keep selecting different games and I’m still unable to watch any of them! Let’s try the Celta Vigo vs. Espanyol game in La Liga…. No luck, that did not load either! I’ll tell you what loaded, ESPN’s charge on my CC for a higher subscription cost! Why don’t you follow my lead? I pay on time, you deliver a quality product. FIX IT! FOLLOW UP: Still crashing!!! Can’t watch games! When are you going to fix all the issues with your app? You are charging for a service that you’re not delivering! This is robbery!

Glitchiest app I’ve ever used. Unfortunately ESPN has hijacked the NHL. Navigating through games is a chore, especially if you are trying to watch a replay of an older game you may have missed. There’s no date, no rhyme or reason to how they log the replays, you have to know exactly the matchup you’re looking for if you plan on finding it. Using the app on Xbox one is an even bigger nightmare. If you miss the start of a game you have to scroll through the time line , sometimes causing spoilers - to find the beginning, you’d think just taking the timeline back to the start would bring you there but there’s an hour to an hour and a half of “you event will start soon”. Sometimes the rewind and fast forward feature aren’t even there and you have to exit out of the app and go back in hoping it works. Also the play and pause button don’t work while rewinding or fast forwarding. If you want to stop your times roll you have to slow down/speed up the search speed until the arrow is not moving anymore, that causes it to pause, but there’s still no play/resume in option so you have to let the Xbox idle until the search screen goes away, then bring the search screen back up and then you can play/resume from the paused screen. If it sounds like a twisted mess, it is. You shouldn’t have to go through this just to watch a freaking hockey game. ESPN is awful.

Slow and disappointing. So far, this app has been great, but there are a few things that make me rate less than a 5 or 4. I primarily use this app for baseball, as football season hasn't started. I just installed this app it to see if it was better that other baseball viewing apps I own. So far, the interface is great and well designed, but the app is SLOW! It takes a long time to start up, and it has a hard time with simple actions in general such as clicking on the details or score of a game. So far, I have had no problem with the live TV viewing aspect of it, but it should be noted that I haven't used it much as I am at home with my TV. The main thing that annoys me the most is that when I click on a player up at bat in the app, it brings me to a glitched version of the app’s website. You are unable to scroll, and have to use a drop down menu to continue on to the stats. Then when you finally get the stats, there is barely anything! In other apps, I can click on the player an instantly get an in-app page of TONS of stats, just like it should be! ESPN, fix this please!

Fine For Basics But Not Much Else. The app is fine when it works if you want scores or news. However, over the last month or so the app crashes on me after 5-15 minutes of use. While watching a video or reading an article it will just hard crash and close on its own. I’ve tried reinstalling but the problem persists. Also, the ads are a little excessive. I understand they need to make money on ads, but watching a 30 second add for a minute long video seems excessive. The banner ads are also very intrusive. Finally, the radio features don’t play nicely with the rest of the iOS audio features. Radio feeds won’t pause if you start watching something else, and will play over whatever you switch to. Often times pushing play on headphones won’t restart a paused audio feed, and playing a paused feed requires you to press play, pause it, and press play again for it to start up again. It’s by far the worst part of the app, and I listen to far less ESPN radio shows now because of it.

ESPN - Lost in wokeism. Disliked a lot of the sports apps out there, and so I tried ESPN again to see if they could at least hold an app that wouldn’t glitch. To my surprise, it doesn’t glitch, but they seem to push an extremely strong race narrative that I, and the rest of the country, have come to abhor. The app is no better than ANY of their major network programs, and I will not support an anti-American, divisive platform that only tries to pitt minorities vs whites instead of reporting about sports!!! Dinger is now the N-word - poor Dinger…. While one of their OWN a DAY LATER drops an accidental N bomb LIVE on their show and NOT A PEEP from ESPN or ANYONE else (it was an obvious mistake but she didn’t look to be very black either)!!! You mine as well hire Jeffrey Toobin at this point and turn your show into a soft core porn application, because I can’t find anyone who would want to subscribe to this race hating nonsense your network spews… you whole Disney organization is rotted to the core. I was hoping for an application, I got another indoctrination tool. Saw a few of your employees on the news in FL recently again…. Lot of Pedos on your team… interesting…

Poor App, difficult to connect/watch. I honestly have difficulty deciding which is worse, the ESPN app or the website, as far as being able to view live games. Typically, I have to log in and out 5-10 times and independently log in to my cable provider 5-10 times each time I want to stream live games or replays. It’s quite amazing how many times you can be told that your cable subscription does not cover the live stream only to find out, on the 10th attempt, that it does. Considering it’s listed as one of the supported cable subscriptions, I’m guessing the 10th time is accurate. I have considered the possibility that it’s related to my cable provider, but since I experience the same issues with my ESPN+ subscription without going through my cable provider, I’m guessing it’s not. Of note, ESPN+ won’t be renewed. I remember watching ESPN when I was young and have continued to do so as I approach middle age, but the difficulty in accessing programming with more modern technology is quite frustrating and makes me want to find another avenue to watch my football, baseball, etc. Disney, if you’re reading this, you could really help improve the quality by fixing some of these issues before a mass exodus of subscribers who watch on mobile devices or their computers.

So much money, make a better app!. This is genuinely one of the worst apps I have on my phone. The streaming feature almost never works for what I want to watch, for some reason it just does the loading circle and then just goes back to nothing? This isn’t a result of my service because it does the same thing on high speed wifi as well. The design of the app itself is also horrendous, it self promotes its own ESPN+ viewing options making it almost impossible to use to find what you actually want to watch if it’s on ACC network, SECN, B10N etc. I pay for ESPN on cable, as well as all of these networks and have to individually search each sports team’s name I want to watch to possibly find a stream that I am promised through my ESPN subscription, only to find that the stream is absolutely awful or blacked out. Only reason I’m not giving this godforsaken app 1 star is because I can sometimes watch sports on it and I like sports so much that somehow this awful app gets a pass. It somehow pisses me off more than the hbo max app which is the actual worst app on the market. These apps are the blueprint for pirates, if you want your content to get pirated, create the worst possible app/platform ever that’s literally impossible to use even if you’re a subscriber to the service.

A Few Requests. EDIT 2: "My Players" should be a new section at the bottom of the "More" section in the app. "My Players" limit was previously 50. It has been increased because I have 70 favorite players, so thank you if you decided to increase the limit after reading my review. I hope the new limit isn't 100 players because I will hit that soon and most people would pass that - especially if they're an MMA fan. Please make the limit something really high like 1,000 or maybe even more. In 20 years, I don't want to have to go through and individually unfollow all my old favorite fighters that retired just to make room to follow new fighters. Also, I would still want news updates about my old favorite fighters. Also, yall should make a social feature in the app where users can pick who they think will win a fight like in the app "The Allstar" or "Verdict" ------------------------------ EDIT 1: Please show "My Players" list without needed to press "Edit" on the "Favorites" section. Also, please allow for way more "Favorites" so that users can follow more individual athletes. ------------------------------ ESPN removed Facebook Login just so they wouldn’t have to implement Sign in with Apple... Also I hate MLB, NHL, and all soccer. Why can’t I completely remove these sports from the app even if I log in? I don’t want to see SCORES (most annoying), news, or anything about sports/leagues that I don’t care about!

Good info but militant advertising. The app does provide a lot of good info. The issue is the sheer amount and time of advertisements. Im okay with being advertised to, you want to be compensated for the content you create and I’m willing to view some ads for that. But your ad system is horrifically burdensome and ultimately loses you money. Here is why - when you advertise to me for 15 seconds, with the same ad over and over, for EVERY SINGLE VIDEO CLIP no matter the length, I stop watching content and you don’t capture any revenue. Most of what I watch is highlight plays whose clips run for about 25 seconds. Then you show me another ad for 15 seconds, usually the exact same ad, to watch another 25 second replay clip. After 2 of those I get tired of it and just stop watching videos. If you showed me a 15 second clip every 4 videos or so I’d end up watching videos for an hour and you’d advertise to me way way more than you would have showing me ads every 15 seconds. Imagine watching cable and seeing 15 minutes of ads for every 25 minutes of the show you are watching. You’d stop watching cable. As is the case with your ridiculous ad system in your app. Guarantee yo change your ad length and occurrence and you’ll see revenue jump.

Needs more app access. The ESPN app is good, but it needs more native versions (at least in Australia). Here we only have the app for mobile devices, but no native app for smart TVs, no app for Apple TV either. Pretty weird to have quality shows and broadcasts, but we still have to screen share to watch on a smart TV

Was great till it stopped being sport related. I’m over it. I go to check game results. Nothing more than politics from over paid over rated humans thinking their view is actually part of their job. I’ll delete this app till these muppets actually figure out I don’t wanna hear the excuses for not going to work. Done

Not letting me check stats during game.. I quite enjoy using this app. As an Australian it’s great that this has afl scores as well as nba and nfl scores. But recently the app hasn’t been letting me open the game stats and other in depth features while the games are on. I would go to check who’s scoring in the nba or who the goal kickers are in the afl but if the games is still happening it won’t open. There will just be a loading screen and it will be stuck on that for minutes before I just give up and stop trying. For the nba it lets me check the stats afterwords but even if the games over I can’t check the afl stats. this only started happening recently and I don’t know whether it’s the app or my device but if it’s happening to other people I can’t recommend this app until it is fixed. I can’t comment on other issues people have be facing as I don’t use the app to watch stuff but even still I would recommend a different app.

Canadians in Australia want their home broadcasts. ESPN streaming down in Australia has been fantastic. It would really be appreciated as an expat to have the intermissions broadcast from the local broadcaster to really feel involved. I’m sure this is not practical as they are essentially your competitors but surely in this day and age something could be worked out? Just hoping, that’s all.. but thank you very much for providing the service/viewing that you do. Canadian Jay

It’s helpful. Instead of just going on google to check scores I can check play by play

All sports. Easy to use and access updates in real time as the game is playing

Chromecast drops out every commercial break. Without fail, live game feed times out on Chromecast during EVERY commercial break. Not a great user experience. Also, games that may be running long or in OT disappear from the Live Games section after their preset broadcast window has passed. Pretty rough for viewers who might want to catch the ending of the game.

Now running so slow. Normally pretty reliable app and my go to sports app. Last app update however has seen app slow down considerably on launch and navigation -slow enough to leave you thinking it is unresponsive/frozen.

What a app. I can see all games at the same times and the highlight reels and I hope to see a update that lets you watch games on the app

Useless app. The streaming function on this app is straight out of the early 2000s. Clunky, shuts down when you try to switch between games, you have to use a mobile device to stream it to your TV as it doesn’t have an app for TV platforms, and 50% of the time, that doesn’t work. ESPN has a monopoly on hockey in Australia, and is doing every other sport a service by making it difficult for hockey fans to watch their sport. Needs to be overhauled.

Use only on the phone. The app would be better if I can use the one on my Apple TV device, I can only air drop from the phone, also I miss a lot of game because it doesn’t allow me to watch it delayed

Won’t work after last update. Was great but after last update, it gets stuck in loading, crashes and exits. Really made me appreciate how much I used it when its not working. Needs a quick fix.

Sports. What a great program for sports it’s got everything i need in sports only two setbacks in The Bruins getting knocked out and The Gunners drawing games when they should’ve won

NHL. Although the coverage has improved, I can watch coyotes feed for most games, ESPN is still lagging way way behind the NHL app. No pre game hardly any intermission show and no after game show. Massive step backwards for hockey in Australia. But at least I can watch it.

Air play doesn’t work. I have the app so I can watch NHL. When I watch it on the iPad or iPhone, I can get both sound and picture. As soon as I try to AirPlay to my TV, I can only get sound, no picture. This is very frustrating and appears to be a common issue for Australian users who access American sports through this app.

Average so far. Can’t watch some content on the app but works fine on the desktop site. Also appears that since ESPN have taken the rights to NHL, I’ll be forced to watch games through a laptop screen because the ESPN app does not allow streaming in my region. Massive downgrade from the NHL app…

Hate This App. I’ve just wasted half an hour trying to watch a hockey game. Before ESPN took away the NHL app in Australia, it was so easy to do. I could even connect during a game and rewind to the start. With the ESPN app I either have to watch it live or replay it - if it will work. Now it is a lucky dip. I cannot plan when to watch because I can only watch when the app decides to work. When I goto the replay video it can come up with a blank screen or say an error has occurred. Shut down the app, start again. This cycle can go on for five or six times until finally a replay list comes up. BUT, if it has a DONE dialog at the top, then nothing you click on plays. Shutdown the app, start again, and hope you get to the replay screen. Sometimes it takes you to a login screen instead. Got it playing, excellent, connect it via airplay to my AppleTV, but there is a red circle with a line through it where the time in the video normally appears. This means it won’t play. I have to shutdown the app, restart, and try connecting again. Today I got all these issues, but when I finally got to the Kraken Vs Penguins game, it told me there was a video feed error - shutdown player and try again. I did, many times. I could play other games but not this one. If only the NHL hadn’t sold out Australian fans!

Links within app don't work and support team don't care much. 6 February 2023 I have the latest ioS and apple phone and app reinstalled, and the links to scores, details of games from the homepage do not work - all I see is the spinning wheel and a blank screen. Have tried reinstalling etc. Have tried all settings. Nothing. Contacted ESPN app support and they didn't care much to help - just suggested I reinstall the app (which I had already done). GARBAGE !!

Screen mirroring fault. The application on an Apple device will not screen mirror to a late model Samsung TV. It projects the sound but no video. When you minimise the app, you get the pop up screen which actually shows the game but as soon as you try renter the app or open the video to full screen it goes back to a black screen. This doesn’t happen with a Samsung phone to Samsung TV. It’s clearly a programming issue which would be an easy fix but I’m frustrated that there’s absolutely no site to request support for this problem.

ESPN destroyed being able to watch NHL in Australia. It was working, it was a very clunky process, but it worked last year. Now, ESPN is the only provider of NHL in Australia (almost the rest of the globe can just go through NHL), and you block being able to screen cast to a tv??? Why?? In 2023, I have to watch hockey on an iPad? Why buy it to destroy the viewing experience for everyone when it did work! It was easier to watch NHL here in 2010 than it is now. It’s embarrassing All that needs to happen, is stop blocking being able to share it from a device to a tv? I’m paying for it each month!!!

Wish I didn’t have to use this. Freaking ridiculous. Being forced to use this app as nhl tv doesn’t work in Australia now, but was assured that every game would be broadcast on the ESPN app - but what do you know IT’S NOT! It’s horrible to navigate, doesn’t differentiate between home and away feeds, cuts out casting at strange times, and doesn’t show the intermission reports. Would not be using this if I didn’t have to.

Good navigation/UI but errors with video. The user interface and navigation works really well. Only problem I have is when loading video. Takes a while to load and sometimes there are errors loading them. 14NOV17 This problem is still ongoing. Notification arrives on screen, I tap it to load - app opens. Then either I get nothing or spinning wheel.

Do not purchase PPV. Purchased PPV, paid for yearly subscription, once paid for, the app suddenly showed a message stating that ‘it could not stream in my area’. Tried to get a refund, only got refunded the yearly subscription, there was nothing Apple could do with refunding the PPV which I couldn’t even stream even though it was paid for and happened to work long enough to take my money.

Doesn’t work. Use to be great, now crashes my phone every time I go to the scores (second option along the bottom) .... hasn’t been fixed for at least a couple of weeks now ....

Too many ads, freezes and short clips. Videos have ads that last as long as the clips themselves. App often black screens and pages fail to load. Have used the app for years and it hasn't changed.

Decent app, variable content. The app works well, and if you’re interested solely in US sport there’s very good coverage. However in common with the ESPN channel generally the reporting on other sports is usually weak. If you’re interested in soccer, cricket, motorsport, etc look elsewhere.

NHL Coverage Pathetic. I have given a 1 only because there is game coverage. Unlike the NHL app which offered fantastic game access, ESPN is a poor replacement. Unfortunately since ESPN obtained the NHL broadcasting rights Australian fans have very limited viewing options. No longer can we watch game replays whenever we want. If you don’t watch a game live then there is no other option to see it, which during the week isn’t possible as games are on during regular working hours. Used to be able to watch game replays after work. Extremely disappointed that we are stuck with this pathetic option.

Deceptive tactics and money hungry. Stop the forced pre roll ads, no one should pay to have ads they can’t skip shoved in their face before watching content they paid for and even worse when live content is missed for nothing but a greedy company. No replays for certain sports and delays with stats or live game feeds, or even a why to tell what feed your watching. Waste of money for anyone viewing multiple games at a time. Nothing but false promises and stealing and deceiving from your customers isn’t a sustainable business.

Constant issues. This app is a really good concept, I’ve had positive experiences but lately the watch section of the app is constantly having speed issues, app freezing. I have only downloaded this app to watch replays of the NHL as I live in Australia. I have no issues with my internet for other streaming services. Whenever selecting replay it freezes and goes to a ‘reload/retry’ page, quite frustrating. I believe ESPN bought out all the rights for the NHL so for us international customers we have lost the use of the NHL app which worked fine, and now have to use a glitchy app that 8/10 times has issues. I just want to watch the Canucks lose.

Won’t Airplay NHL Games to Samsung Smart TV. The ESPN app is a total disaster for watching NHL games. ESPN/Disney has taken what used to be a good viewing experience in Australia for NHL hockey on my TV via Airplay with the NHL app & completely destroyed it by forcing people to use thier bug & glitch filled piece of junk. After a very slow & non-intuitive process to find the game you want to watch & then another clunky process to associate your ESPN TV service, the App then blocks streaming to your TV via Airplay. Now it is not possible to view your game of choice on TV. If it was possible to award negative stars then I would do this. Way to go ESPN / Disney for gross underachievement!

Need to fix broadcasting feed. The only reason I am giving this 1 star is because I can at least get a hockey feed. But the broadcasting feed is inconsistent and changes depending on what game is being played. The app is not easy to navigate to find the broadcast. There is no information on which feed is home or away and the app won’t work directly from my Apple TV. Also your placeholder while at an ad break or intermission is really really annoying. Please fix this ESPN you should be able to do much better than you currently are.

Meh. Getting really sick of having to change notification preferences.. every time I update the app I have to turn off breaking news... newsflash I have no interest in the sports you keep sending me notifications for, it should be obvious by my favourites in the app given not a single one is basketball but I keep getting basketball “breaking news”.. fix it to save preferences.

Update news first.. If you’re looking for the latest on any sport…Than turn to ESPN.

Decent app, needs more sports. Never had any issues with app reliability, though design could be optimised in some areas. As an Australian, I’d love to see the sports expanded to include the AFLW, Formula E, W Series and others, including the ability to follow individual Australian sports teams. Adding these would make this my default sports app.

ESPN is the best for NFL box scores. Now that NFL doesn’t do the old box score style ESPN is my go to for box scores for betting and fantasy.

Revenue takes priority over service. Unfortunately recent changes had thrown ads all over the place, to a point were you can no longer select some content within the app (as its blocked by advertisers).

Love the app, wish it wouldn’t disconnect. App is so good for watching international sports while in Australia. Would love for it to stay connected to my Foxtel account as it disconnects randomly which is frustrating. Also wish ESPN had AFL rights so I could watching everything in the same place.

Nearly Impossible to Stream. It’s nearly impossible to use this app to stream. It’s slow to open, slow to load, sometimes just won’t load at all. Then when you’re streaming to Apple TV or Chromecast it intermediately buffering and the entire app needs to be rebooted. You would think a company like ESPN would have a decent app.

Poor streaming app. Pretty poor for one of the biggest sports broadcasters in the world. iPhone app has no access to replays of games so no ability to watch something delayed. No spoiler protection. No ability to skip to key moments in the game. Here in Australia we’re stuck with this mess now instead of the official NHL app. Hey developers: download the NHL app, you might learn a few things!

Disappointing No iOS 12.5 support to download app. This used to be a great app and working. Could watch the extended channels for the service in australia like espn u espn news acc sec. its no longer available unless i buy another apple device that has ios 13, Every other usa streaming app is still working on this ios with at-least an older running version of the app available. So disappointing cant watch college football any more. It was working just a few months ago. Espn wont evengives us annolder version of the app.

Great app but seems to cause issues in my phone. Had been great until I upgraded to iPhone 11. No other apps seems to affect the phone but espn seems to lag my whole out out when it’s opened for longer than like 2 mins. Great app but too clogged with ads and junk.

Too many ads. Between each video clip there is an advertisement, that is often longer than the sports clip itself. 15 second ad 9 second highlight, 15 second ad 12 second highlight, 15 second ad 18 second highlight... stop already, they’re all the same ad and it’s all gambling.

One star is too high a rating. Impossible to log into and livestream sports. Have sent numerous requests for help and have received nothing back. I hope the NHL enjoy the money they’ve received from having these clowns ruin their coverage in Australia because no one will be watching

Updating my review from negative to positive. Big improvement on last season, am really enjoying it. Because of the time difference between North America and Australia, I often have to watch the games on replay. I can choose to watch a Canadian telecast almost all the time. The picture quality is great, no problems at all. The app could be a little easier to navigate, but not a major problem. Unlike last year, I highly recommend the app. Last NHL season I found this app such a disappointment. As an ex-Pat Canadian living in Australia I wanted to watch Canadian broadcasts of Leafs’ games, as I had always been able to do on the NHL app. Most of the time the ESPN app offered only an American broadcast on replay, done by the American team’s home TV station. These broadcasts were hopelessly one-eyed and the play-by-play call of the game was not well done. Of course, Canadian broadcasts can be a bit one-eyed too, but not as blatantly, and I prefer the Canadian style of calling the game. This year all but three games of the Leafs have offered the option of a Canadian broadcast on replay, and two of those were ESPN National broadcasts which are good, not at all one-eyed, although I still prefer Canadian ones. Thanks for consistently giving the Canadian option.

App for WatchOS 3. This great app used to be on my Apple Watch and worked just fine. It recently somehow got uninstalled and it can’t or won’t install back. It needs a quick fix.

Trash tier app.. This app is the worst piece of junk I’ve ever had the chance to use. Crashes continuously during broadcasts, spams me with notifications late at night about sports I don’t care about, insists on showing scores for the last game when you try to watch a replay. 1 star review is still too high. Consider piracy before going down this path.

Nfl scores 😡. The nfl scores don’t open when you click on them, they’re just forever loading. Have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times, and reset my phone. So frustrating. Using a different app now just to get all my scores and stats for football

Piece of junk. Watching NCAA Football in Australia on iPad and chrome casting to the tv, and every single time it cuts into a commercial break, about a minute later it loses the connection to the stream. I have to completely close the app and re open the stream and re load it and re connect. Extremely annoying. Still the case 12 months later. Nothing fixed. Piece of junk app

Doesn’t even work. Why have an app available in Australia if it doesn’t even work here. Just gives a message saying it’s not supported in this region. No message saying it’s coming here soon or anything either. Have tried it several times over the last week and even deleted and reloaded it again but no luck. Can’t believe an app from a major company like this would be so bad.

A very tough way to watch American Sports in Australia, but worth it when it works!. Considering Aussies used to just pay the NHL subscription to watch and cast games to our tvs, this way without a foxtel subscription is tedious to intiially set up. Fetch box and subscription, $6 sports package, nhl app on iPad, then chrome cast to a tv. When the feeds work, and don’t crash, this is great. The replays are good, just the live streams can have an issue. Currently watching the Baseball Playoffs, and working ok!

ESPN App - terrible. The App is constantly crashing and freezing. Scores barely update normally. It's been a completely useless app for the past year or so. Very unreliable.

Bring back goal horn sounds. Please bring back goal horn sounds for notifications

ESPN+. I love it but I thinnn on it should be free all around nested of paying to watch with inset that fair

Need to qualify. In order 1 NFL 2 NHL 3 NCAA football 4 ask to rank in ordered

New pop-up videos have to go. ESPN decided to inundate us with pop-up video ads that crash the app immediately. App is currently unusable.

No CFl. There is too many ads. This used to be a low ad platform. But now there is almost 2 ads between every video. Very disappointing. I am very disappointed with the fact that this app does not support the Canadian football league or the CFL..As much as I love your app the fact that you do not have CFL or I could not find it it’s not appropriate

shows should auto play when they start. if a fight is at 3pm, you should be able to click it at 2:45 so it starts automatically without having to click it at 3:01 can’t believe i’m actually typing this

I cannot access the articles sports betting. Theres a little circle that is loading but the article never appear

Asking for subscription have ONe. Brutal

Can’t set notifications for specific games. When trying to set notifications with specific NBA playoff games it does not save my preferences. Tried restarting, uninstalling and logging off but it does not work. Turned on only notifications for basketball but still receiving notifications for other sports.

Great for most sports. Home page images randomly missing. The home page is often missing images, leaving empty boxes all over the place. Deleting the app and reinstalling seems to have fixed the issue for now. We will see how long it lasts. For the rest: Baseball game cast graphics / animations are amazing. It has good coverage of the major team sports but is weaker on tennis etc. Heavy use of videos where they can work in ads, but that’s what pays the bills and there are plenty of written articles too.

No more favorites. Couple weeks ago, the is not more showing my favorites under the scores tab, it shows all games, not only my favs

Black screen streaming to tv. When trying to stream from iPhone to tv, there is only a black screen.

ESPN Review. Great sports site. Has everything you need. Standings, upgrades, player stats. Multiple sports you would not think about.

Who. How do I access. The who

Great!. Works great !

Pure hot garbage. Straight from the ESPN garbage factory. Player just blinks and flashes before playing and sport video. Absolutely worthless devs

Living in Denmark and staying connected.. Living in Europe and being able to stay connected to North American sports via ESPN is awesome. Especially staying connected to college sports, is really a plus.

Please update so videos are optimized to iPhone X. 5 stars once this is done

Bias. ESPN has a pronounced SEC bias in everything they do. It’s obvious even to a Canadian. It even shows up in their ratings of High School football recruits. Never the less they have some decent shows like PTI, but also stinkers like First Take.

ESPN website. Best overall sports sites ie baseball stats for boxscores or football statistics or most major fields about sports . Just a very good sports magazine aka website!! BTW even buy their magazine but not lately!

Subscribers outside US. They bill you with no service Canada.

App not loading. The Apple ESPN app is not loading. It was working for a long time; however, it has not loaded for a week. I just get a blank screen.

Canadian App Store?. I was able to download the app and register but when opening the app I get a warning that ESPN+ is only available in the USA. I was hoping to compare it with apps like Sportsnet and TSN but due to licensing agreements ESPN is off the table. Until Disney can come to an agreement with license holders the app should be removed from the Canadian App Store. On a related note if they do work this out I hope Disney will include it in Disney+ app instead of a separate app 🤔

Love the data and info, but the vids on iPhone??. Love the app, but not sure if it’s just me.. I have an iPhone XR and when I get the notifications for a video when I click on it it just pin wheels forever and never actually loads. It’s really frustrating. I’ve updated my phone and the app. I fee like it should work, but honestly it hasn’t after many updates. Please fix or advise. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem. Would give 5 stars if this was not a problem.

FIFA 2022. Excellent coverage

Lame app. The app doesn’t work. It doesn’t load properly it’s super slow. It’s super lame.

Leaf games. The Leafs are not on very often so it is useless while we are in Florida

No ESPN+ in Canada. embarrassing

Blackout in Canada. Downloaded, paid to watch PGA Championship and it was a complete blackout in Canada. Maybe my own mistake but still annoyed it wasn’t stated before purchasing.

Way to heavy and slow. This app is way to heavy. I have an iPhone 6S and it takes forever to open and crashes often. Super frustrating to use

Slow and crashes a lot. The app will crash continuously and is often very slow. Also the app doesn’t display stats and the espn+ isn’t available in Canada which is extremely unfortunate

Crashing. I’ve never used an app that crashes so often. 3 times in 15 minutes sometimes?! At least 4 crashes per hour? Brutal. Fix it!

Videos don’t stream often. It’s ESPN but am surprised how poor the app and their website is. First of all the organization is very clunky. It’s d difficult to find content the way it is organized, and if specially if you’re looking for a game like cricket, which is not very popular in the United States, then it takes many clicks to find what you want. The other and bigger problem is (more on website than app)that often you log on and then you just waiting for content to load. Then you get your screen, click on your game and then you’re waiting forever again for it to load. It is insane the way the website and the app respond.

Works ok. But continue to send notifications that are not viewable. And lies about watching events in the app.

Does not work in Canada. There should be a warning that this app is not available for use in Canada.

Only good in US. Most of the features dont even work thanks to geoblocking. Garbage. Deleted.

No Canadian fans aloud. If you live in Canada your out of luck don’t both downloading

Sports Coverage. Lots of great info on College Football and all sports you cover , good stuff keep it going 🏈👍😊

Canada • ESPN • Lacrosse. First, why is this app available to download if it’s not available in Canada? And second, ESPN is carrying FIL World Lacrosse Championships but doesn’t list lacrosse as one of the sports to follow?

Decent app. I wish I could watch this in Canada

Not available in Canada?. Why would the UFC get behind this crap!? If a espn+ subscription would be joined with TSN and i could get the UFC content there, then i will rate this crappy app better. Or just make your videos available in Canada.

Garbage app, company and content. Woke crappy content NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE WNBA OR WOMANS SOCCER ALSO DO NOT USE MY DATA TO RUN ADS

Review. Fast and efficient app and I thank you for it George Cunill

Subscription doesn’t work on laptop. I bought the subscription which mentioned $10 on app, but ended up charging $12.99 through Apple store. But the worse is, I can’t access the subscription on laptop. I called support and they said they couldn’t even find my subscription - spent an hour looking for it. I went and cancelled after a day the subscription since they still can’t find my active subscription. They are asking me to buy subscription again through website and can’t refund this because it’s through Apple. Seriously, how hard it is to manage one account for subscription in 2022? Super annoying!

Wonderful, terrific app. This app is fantastic. Wonderful customization. So sophisticated. Ability to set favourites and follow your favourite teams’ scores. I recently gave up sports cable TV and have not missed a beat with the app. Truly the best app I have ever downloaded. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. All other sports apps should take notes of how to make a masterpiece like this. I know my praise is high, but this app deserves it.

Deleted because of pop-up videos. I’ve been using this app for years and loved it. Lately there have been annoying pop-up video ads that appear in the middle of browsing. Deleted. Shame on you ESPN

Tv. How do I get to watch TV with this app

Keeps closing. App keeps closing within 2 -10 seconds of opening it. And I have the latest updates installed.

Crappy app. This app is awful. Spend most of game time restarting after commercial breaks.

Slow, Unreliable, Clunky. This app is a great resource for its overall data and information that it contains. However, there are so many things wrong with it. It is slow and laggy. It takes like ten seconds to load the app, then another five seconds because there’s an unwanted video highlight on the home page. Also, whenever there is a “must see” notification or any kind of notification that plays a video when you open the app, it doesn’t show the video, it shows the home page highlight, and there is no way to find the other video. This app is just so slow and laggy. ESPN parades the app like it’s godsent, but it’s actually horrible, laggy, slow, and clunky. I’d recommend an app I recently started using called Action Sports. It has seamless functionality between pages and instant updating. It’s very user friendly and provides TONS of information, even for bettors. Overall 2/5, just for the WATCH ESPN function and information it contains.

ESPN+ Is Subpar. I really enjoy the ESPN app. I always like how I can get scores and news from my favorite teams. I wish coverage for Brazil’s Series A league would get more coverage. As far as ESPN+ I really love the idea of it. I like how I can watch MLR and USL soccer and even the replays of a lot of sports. My biggest issue is the navigation. It’s absolutely horrible. It’s similar to taking a handful of rocks and dropping them into a bucket and wherever they land is where they’re at. That’s how I feel with the navigation. It’s very difficult to find certain games when they’re live. It took about 10 minutes to find the Philadelphia Union match this weekend after the game already started. I also noticed a few days where there wasn’t any live games at all on ESPN+. Like I said, I really love the idea of it and I do hope it will improve but right now I can’t justify paying for a subscription for this. Do not raise the subscription price of $4.99/month. That is a good price I think. I hope this is an issue that will be improved.

Lots of crashes. Update August 2022 - the stupidity had actually ceased for several versions, but… they’re back. First - pictures are extremely slow to load, even on wi-fi. But, gasp, the ads and hidden links load quickly. Second - why do users need to set individual alerts for each NASCAR or Xfinity race? And even at that, only work every so often. Did the special snowflakes get their feelings hurt b cause NASCAR is the origins of ‘Brandon’? Go woke, go broke. Oh, and the App Store will be keeping a special heads-up for spam reviews to inflate your app rating. Update Nov 2018 The lowlifes at ESPN silently force consumers to apply the most recent. (cough) upgrades (read as downgrades) or else the product crashes…. Update Oct 2018... Still nothing but crashes!!! Even trying to report a problem through the app crashes!!! Update: Dec 2017, the same ads are EVERYWHERE in this stupid app. Page after page, sport after sport, day after day. That is a practice that is against the DAA, and is illegal. Update: The August 2016 update broke alerts for me. It's not just that I'm not receiving alerts - I can no longer ACTIVATE or SELECT any alerts or notifications ESPN deserves a "C'mon man." for this version. Update: So slow it is almost unusable. Folks - it ain't that hard... Not sure why every new version of this app is poorer quality than the prior version, but :: consumers deserve better, especially if you are going to pepper us incessantly with ads.

Unwanted notifications. App does fine however I get notifications for things I don't want. It's March madness. For me, not interested. But do I know how all the games went? Of course! ESPN let me know - whether I wanted to or not. I have tailored the notifications in the settings 20 times - I only want to be notified about my teams / sports. I have breaking news turned off, I have instant awesome off, I have gambling off, I have ESPN+ editors pick off and product updates and offers off. Yet, somehow, I get notifications for things I don't care about. Why is it this way? I like knowing when 1 of the 4 teams I follow play or there's news about those teams, but i don't want anything else. But apparently it's not my choice? I may seek alternatives to this app that don't send me notifications deemed important to the app and not the user. I could turn notifications off entirely but that's not the point. I want what I want and nothing else and that isn't happening.

Not seen any app this bad. Lemme start with playing the live matches (IPL). Whenever I try to play any live matches it throws error related to my bundle subscription. So I have to logout and login few times as work around. UI and the block designs are so crowded that it feels there is lot of clutter on the screen and seems like developers are over using the real estate and not concerned about the users. Next big issue is for casting and airplay. I have used a lot of apps and never seen casting and airplay going this bad!!! First, I never see my LG Tv on the casting options from mobile. If try screen mirror for Airplay videos doesn’t play and only I can hear sound. I was fed up with this and tried my luck with all the suggestions I found on google but nothing worked. Navigation in the app is not user friendly and I don’t know how they try to design this!!! Overall the experience was not at all good and seriously don’t get why ESPN is still not a native app in TVs keeping in mind that smart TVs are being used widely.

Bad for the eyes. This app has all the sports info I want. It’s the place to go to find out what my teams did last night — or even how they’re doing now. I have three big issues with ESPN. 1) Too much in grey. For example, in box scores HR is in legible black, but the slugger’s name and data are in weak grey. My eyes are not that great and eye tests are a challenge, but ESPN doesn’t have to be so difficult to read. If two-tone is necessary display headings like HR in grey and data in black. 2) Navigation is slow and difficult. In progress game scores open to the last score displayed & it takes forever to update. So I try to speed things along by touching scores or sports or home, which of course doesn’t help but slows down everything. 3) the Yankees and the Mets are my favorites so their games are listed first. I’m also interested in the Red Sox but I’ll never call them a favorite, so their scores are hidden offscreen way down below. Give me a way to see all AL East and all NL East games in groupings. Summary: lots on info, hard on the eyes, poor navigation.

Disney apparently doesn’t have enough money. Go to yahoo sports if you want to just catch up on what you missed. This app is ridiculous. Not only do you have to pay money just to get certain content but any and every video you click on will prompt a 30 second ad. For free you can have a much better experience on yahoo sports AND their fantasy experience is vastly better. Idk who is writing these articles for ESPN but they need to be fired, that’s a huge part of how i catch up on stuff and i know I’m not the only one. Again yahoo takes that win. As for ESPN+… why? Why would a human not just throw a bit more in and get all the games instead of whatever is being broadcast just on ESPN? Plus you have to link it to a tv provider? What is the point of the app then? It really baffles me. Not to mention they’re clearly lying about their reviews and how well accepted the app is, scroll through the “all reviews” tab and tell me how those numbers average a “4.6 out of 5” This is a blatant cash grab Fuggouttaherewidthisshytt!

Smart tv app is not functional. Well to start I was excited that ufc was going to espn! I’ve primarily used the espn app on my phone and it always have me little to no problems. However, the app for my Samsung smart tv is just pure trash. Why? Well... for starters every time.. and I mean every single time I try to watch a fight, within about 10 mins on average the sound will cut out, then 30 seconds after that I get an error message saying “video playback error: contact customer care if problem persists.” Well I did just that and had to talk to a representative that didn’t know the first thing he was talking about. Offered no help or solutions and when I said I would have to cancel my subscription because it is unwatchable, he told me “well thanks again sir, have a great day” that will lose you customers ESPN. Please just patch the app for this issue, it could be a really simple fix and save you from losing business from an mma fan like myself! Ps. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, set my tv back to factory settings, tried again, never changes

Absolutely Terrible. This app has easily the worst User Interface of any app I’ve ever seen. It’s clunky, cluttered, and not easy for the user to find what they are looking for. I would be okay with a poor UI if the app wasn’t also lagging. There is no way to hide the crap you don’t care about, so you have to scroll through the useless crap to get to what you want. I have been watching Rugby on the WatchESPN app for years for free and never had any issues. The app was simple, straight forward, and reliable. Now that Rugby has switched to this app, I’ve had nothing but issues (and I have to pay for a product that is vastly inferior to the free product I enjoyed). For the first week, Super Rugby matches wouldn’t show up when you searched for “Rugby”. They do now, but good luck trying to watch a full game without getting an error. This morning, I go to watch the Rebels v Crusaders replay and the broadcast starts when the game is 3/4 over. Now I can’t even find the rest of the games I should be seeing. ESPN+ is a terrible product as it is right now.

S L O W. I don’t write a lot of reviews. I’m not sure that I’ve written any others. I’m writing this to send feedback to the developer, and to warn other potential users. They need to know that this app is SLOW. It routinely takes 6-10 SECONDS after launching this app before the screen becomes responsive again. Who measures responsiveness in seconds in 2018? I have no idea what this app is doing in that amount of time. 8 years ago, the ESPN scorecenter app was a requirement. Now.... it’s complete garbage. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Yahoo sports app is now my go-to. Yahoo. Yahoo hasn’t been relevant since 2005! You get 2 stars instead of one because a) it’s better than your actual web page (which leads the league in user hostility *cough* auto play videos *cough*) and b) your Apple Watch app is somehow the best available for me. It’s still crap, and takes waaaay too long to update scores, but none of your competitors have managed to do any better. I’ve tried them all.

Decent but a few issues. Since I downloaded this app a few years ago, I’ve had the same issue. When I open the app, within 10s it automatically opens the settings page. I prepare for it when I’m opening it from my phone’s Home Screen. However, if the app opens from another app (I.e. I’m trying to read an article or watch a video) it does the same thing, and when I exit the settings menu, the app has reverted back to its home page, article nowhere to be found. I end up having to open it multiple times until the app doesn’t do it. This has gone on for 2 separate phones that I have, so it’s definitely an app issue. Another issue is the fact that I can’t add any college teams to my favorites. I like to follow some local college teams, but I can’t get notifications about them since I can’t add them to my favorites. Otherwise, I really like the app. I use it all the time for the game cast, which works great.

Hardly works. Doesn’t work correctly when it does. I go to open notifications of video clips that sound interesting and it NEVER brings me there. It’ll bring me to some three week old article and I just get frustrated trying to navigate this app trying to find the video it told me about. Watching games is hit or miss. 50% chance you’ll get through more than 10 minutes without the app crashing, playing nonstop ads, or the video cutting out. Not my internet. All other sports streaming apps work fine. Fix it. Plus, as much as I love getting to the second news I’m most cases, IT WILL TELL ME THE FINAL SCORE OF A GAME IM WATCHING ON LIVE TV TWO MINUTES BEFORE ITS OVER. LIVE TV. LIVE. I’ve had countless heart-throbbing experiences ruined by prematurely learning the outcome of the game before the broadcast is even finished. A bit of begging and choosing to say that the scores updates are TOO fast but it’s something that other people have had to have noticed. However, if you are ONLY going to use it to check scores/get updates it’ll be fine.

Profit over Experience. The user experience is a distant second to the maximization of monetization of the app. Accordingly, things don’t work very well. What should be unbreakable technology — such as scrolling through a list of headlines on a sidebar, something that should never be problematic for an app — is now broken by the placement of ads inline with the list of headlines. The trend by very large companies like ESPN and Disney and FB to squeeze an ad, or a video, into every possible bit of page space, or moment of attention, seriously degrades the overall performance of their apps. Eventually people will abandon these apps as the developers become more blatant about their attitude toward their customers; we are just fodder to be monetized. Better apps and websites exist to get your sports news. Don’t waste your precious time with this erstwhile sports app. It’s now just a platform to deliver ads to you, and that is the priority of the developers.

The information is all there, the app is still second rate. The app in the last ~3 months has started to randomly shut down. I’ve removed and reinstalled twice and no change in behavior. This is frustrating because I finally navigated to what I want to see and the app completely shuts down. GAH! When I reinstall, it always turns breaking news back on,Even though I have never ever had this setting enabled. The ESPN app has all the information I want, it is oft times hard to find. For example, on the Scores tab, my favorite teams show scores from the last season. Who cares. It finally goes away when the new season starts. Additionally, i’ve set the app to open in the scores tab, but it doesn’t. I’ve contacted support before and it seems they are more focused on closing the ticket then fixing the problem. The first thing they say every time is “have you deleted and reinstalled?” Why should I have to? They sent out an update and it didn’t work. Needless to say, I always do that before I call and removing and reinstalling has not worked yet.

Out of control - runaway notifications. I understand ESPN’s desire to draw more people into their content, but the app has simply gone too far. The notifications are reaching the point of unwanted spam. It’s one thing for me to want alerts for NBA News like trades or injuries, but by turning on alerts for league news, ESPN will send you an alert for every big game starting, every halftime take, every LeBron highlight, and every post-game press conference. It’s just too much. I am happy that ESPN is pumping out alerts to keep users informed, but the app should offer an opportunity to control what is being delivered. Divide the types of notifications up: highlights, big game alerts, opinion pieces, press conferences. These are regular items that are distinct from league news like a major free agent signing or a coach firing. This is applicable to every league that ESPN serves notifications for. Users get excellent control over game score alerts (start, quarter, half, final, close game), but absolutely no control over the endless alerts that ESPN lumps into “news”.

Content is great...if you can see it. The amount of choice you have in regards to content makes it a great app. However, I find the video player to be less than desirable...making this an average ho-hum sports app. I try to use the app while I’m at the gym-particularly when doing cardio. I log on to the live version of “PTI” and 30-40% of the time I get error messages. Last night was a “re-authentication error”. So I went to settings and signed out of my cable provider and signed back in. Then I received another type of error...so I rebooted my iPhone X to see if that fixed the problem. It didn’t. So I quit the app and listened to music instead. This happens more than it should from a company owned by Disney. These guys know their tech...but can’t seem to get their player right. So, would I recommend this app? Yes, with the understanding and appreciation that you might not be able to see the content you want.

Love this app. The ESPN app is the best sports app due to its versatility, functionality, and content. On the ESPN app you can do many things. You can watch many sports on the app now that watchESPN is integrated into the app. ESPN covers all sports from cricket to gymnastics to basketball. With helpful categories, it is easy to find what sport you would like to watch. The ESPN also allows you to choose your favorite sports teams, so you can keep and touch with the latest news on your team. You can see all the stats for your teams and the individual player stats. If you’re feeling like reading, there are many intelligently written articles to satisfy you. Finally, the ESPN app rarely malfunctions. It is easy to move swiftly through the app. In conclusion, the ESPN app is great because of all the amazing things that you can do on it.

Can’t turn off specific notifications. The app is by far the best out there, but there is one major issue I have with it and honestly I change my settings every other week because it’s so annoying. When you turn on news notifications for let’s say one of your favorite teams, not only do you get that team’s news notifications, but you also then receive notifications about that league. There is no way to turn this off AT ALL. Perfect example—you’re a fan and have news notifications turned on for the Dallas Cowboys, but you also have breaking news notifications and all others turned off. You will still receive notifications for “Updated Power Rankings for the NFL” no matter what other settings you have turned on or off. I don’t care about that, or what columnists are saying about the league. I only want to receive news about that specific team, nothing else that involves the rest of the league. Make this change, the app gets 5 stars.

0 if i could. I don’t even know where to start. I will say at least you’re making an effort to bring F1 stateside, and for whatever reason this app is the only place to stream the races in 60 FPS, but the rest of the app is hot garbage. My ESPN+ subscription isn’t enough to get rid of ads when I’m looking at the game cast of anything? And the streaming selection is abysmal at best. You can’t even stream your local sports teams through the app, regardless of if you use your network TV provider to login. And to add on to that even more, the baseball streaming selection is terrible, like there’s only one stream a week and it’s only the Spanish broadcast, but hey thank goodness there’s thirty different tennis and amateur wrestling matches I can watch. And don’t even get me started on the notifications, I tried to get game notifications about some European soccer games but I swear I get notifications about what the players have for lunch everyday, and when I go to turn it off I get a never ending loading screen. So goodbye, cancelling my subscription, and hopefully see ya never again.

TempPass_Production_ESPN_15min account error. I have had the ESPN app for years and I am amazed at how little it has come along compared to every other competitive sports app in the market place. ESPN has not prioritized user experience at all. The gesture responsiveness is disappointing, the glitches when selecting your favorite sports is constant, and watching content on this app is like pulling teeth. For example, for the past year, every time I log in with my TV provider, every single time, within 2 weeks I will get an error. The error flashes a white box over the screen that gives me an error that reads “You are signed into your TempPass_Production_ESPN_15min account.” It goes on to say that I have to go into my phone settings, remove the TV Provider, and resign in. Not only does this force me to login to every app that uses my TV Provider again, I get the same error 2 weeks later. I wish ESPN was not such a major player in the sports industry so I could avoid using their app ever again.

A joke of an app. Wow, I subscribe to multiple things that should allow me to access this app but no, it’s garbage. It plain doesn’t work. Oh what’s that? You’d like to start charging people? You’ve gotta be kidding me. The amount of hubris is off the charts over there. How about you pay $5 a month for something that should be included with your cable package... also, it doesn’t even work. How about no? What was the plan here? I’d love to sit in on a meeting where the idea was “what if we charge people to watch what they’re already paying for!?” Could you be any greedier or more out of touch? Prove me wrong ESPN I dare you, or just complain to big daddy Disney that someone was mean and they’ll send someone to beat me up. I also can’t purchase 30 for 30 anywhere else. I’m willing to throw money at you but no. YOU’RE SHOOTING YOURSELF IN THE FOOT. I WILL FIND ANOTHER MEANS. If you were an ISP would you only be able to long on by telegraph? Remember in 2010 everybody had the “genius idea” to try and create their own social network? That’s what you’re doing right now but you’re too dumb to realize it.

Incredibly broken, cheap, and annoying. The programmers on this software must be monkeys. I’ve never left a review on an app but I couldn’t stop myself here due to the years of disappointment. 1. When you click to play a video you are forced to watch an ad that is usually twice as long as the video. I understand advertising but THE VIDEO WONT PLAY AFTER YOU WATCH THE AD! you are forced to close the video and rewatch the ad in hopes of watching a 10 second clip. 2. The “live score” updates are abysmal. Like horrible. You’d think ESPN should have this down, but you’re better off calling the cheerleaders at the game to get information about what’s going on. 3. If this app didn’t already make you sick while using it, it will also plague your existence when you aren’t using it! Videos and ads will randomly play sound through your speakers and will not stop until you delete the app from your background. Disgusting. You’d think ESPN, who focuses on entertainment would have this down, news flash: they don’t. Buy another app.

Incompetent performance on Chrome. This app on Google Chrome close to 95% of the time when watching live games or fast forwarding past games is incapable of providing a full minute of uninterrupted broadcasting. My wifi service is good and only my TV is using it (I disconnect my cell from the wifi) yet after 30 min (or more than 1-2hrs) of playing still buffers every 5-10 SECONDS for 3-5 seconds!!! I’ve cleared the cache, uninstalled and install back the app and the same problem continues. When I open the app in my cell and broadcast it to my TV no buffering problem!!!! although the quality of the image is 40% less I prefer it that way than buffering and when the problem persists the app shows “Unable to Play Video. There was an error playing this video” and goes back to main menu and if I click the same saved game I have to start from the beginning. The app doesn’t have the “continue watching” option, how PATHETIC is that?!?!? 🤣🤣🤣. Either ESPN or Google are to blame for this and I’m sure neither will take responsibility for it 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Competition Is What’s Needed. ESPN is the undisputed, unequivocal king of sports broadcasting in all shapes, manners and forms. It can seemingly do no wrong. And that’s the privilege it has earned as it has grown from its modest days as an experimental niche network struggling mightily to find relevant sports programming to broadcast around the clock to the mighty empire that it is today — a mighty empire that determines the very culture of sport. All this is to say that the reign of ESPN has been so dominant for so long that other networks have seemingly conceded the market entirely. As such, ESPN can only compete against itself. And with nothing at stake, there is no drive for innovation. And it’s been showing for years, perhaps in no better example than with this app. With a world of resources and capital at its beck and call any time of day or night, there’s just no excuse to have such a poorly designed, minimally functional app representing your brand in the world of interactive sports media. And therein lies the fundamental problem — the ambivalence of having nothing to lose and nothing to gain.

Really Good; Chromecast Needs Work. So far my overall experience with the app itself has been good and I have enjoyed the vast options that the app presents. My only issue is the Chromecast feature. It’s extremely clunky and only works when it wants to. It also appears that I have to keep my screen on the app otherwise it will automatically cut the feed within seconds. I should be able to do other things on my phone while casting to the TV and given that this app will most likely be the future of all sports someday, it’s imperative that Chromecast becomes fluid and always works even when I leave the app without shutting it down. It should also be made easier to activate as the Chromecast button doesn’t appear on every screen of the app. So all in all, the app itself is great, but Chromecast needs to be fixed big time.

World wide leader in sports no more. This app is constantly incorrect with game times and the channels for which they are to be displayed are also incorrect for time to time. Considering this is the ESPN app I would expect and tolerate zero mistakes. The app also contains too many ads. I have a subscription, I don’t want to see ads. I can’t even check the score of a game without closing at least one ad page. Also ESPN seems to have drifted away from reporting sports, and instead fills my feeds with heart-warming click bait pieces and “highlights” that have absolutely nothing to do with sports. Seems to me ESPN is trying too hard to compete with what everyone else is doing and has lost sight of who they are and what they used to be, and what made them successful. It’s annoying and sad. The app seems to reflect ESPNs newfound lack of vision. It’s too cluttered with features that other sporting apps already have a grasp on. In short, y’all a doing too much and you’re spreading yourself thin. Keep it simple stupid. Xoxoxo

Overall great app. Few bugs though that give it 4 stars. Overall this is a great app. I can keep up with scores of the games I’m interested in when I’m not home and is easy to navigate. But there are two things I don’t like about the app. First being that although I have an ESPN account and have my favorite teams and preferences set, every time I get on the app I have to go into setting and click on my preferences just for them to show up while I’m in the app, which makes it hard for me to check scores when I’m hunting or fishing while a game is going on. The other problem is every time I try to watch a game on the app while I’m not home it either tells me I can only watch with a 15 minute temp pass although I’m signed into my DISH account or it makes me sign into my DISH account every time I want to watch a game. Fix these two bugs and it’s a 5 star app!

From flawless to frustrating. Used ESPN 3 to watch rugby and found it worked perfectly. The new ESPN + app required to watch rugby is buggy and frustrating to use. There is no easy way to see a list of sports when searching like ESPN 3 using my iPhone and iPad, games that have already occurred show as upcoming (see reds v Waratahs which starts at 3:30am for the last week), search results for games don’t include all available games / replays for a team and clicking on the calendar of events for replays started the game at the end, giving away the result (again reds v warratahs). Not the experience I expected when moving from free to $50 a year. I’m not baulking at the price it’s that I expected the paid app to be an improvement not a backward step. Hoping that improvements to the navigation and search will come in future updates. The app overall seems too chaotic, trying to cram every possible feature into a single app and unfortunately that doesn’t deliver a great experience (in my opinion).

Could be so much better. So you want to find a specific article you know is in ESPN+? Good luck. I get notified on the ESPN Fantasy Sports app that a new article has been posted, but it’s only for ESPN + subscribers. So I switch to the ESPN app where my ESPN+ login info is saved (family shared account), and that article is nowhere to be found. It’s like they’re two different catalogs of content. It’s infuriating. How can the flagship ESPN app not even be updated with the latest articles? In some cases, I never find them. I search by title, author, and they still never show up. Even weeks later! You want a specific category to search? Nope. You either search everything, or pray to the gods that the one you want is listed as one of the select 3 on their main page. Other than that, it’s lost in the abyss. TERRIBLE

Why yall need a update and let people watch live games when they already have a tv provider. This app needs to be updated because you do not let us watch the games live when the games are actually on espn not really witch is dumb. You should let us watch nfl, college, mlb, and nba hilghts so we can see whats actually going on in the game. You should also give us notifcations when we do not chose whatever team we did not pick but as long it is in the league we pick. And also I have on promblem myslef. This should really be on the update list but. My parents got specturm so we can watch thing we like to see. There is a promblem when i try to watch the game it says I can not watch it. I was like are you serious. I really wanted to see the nba game but it just had to say I had to watch it with specturm. So begged my parents to put espn to there specturm account but I no they won't do it anways. Thanks espn and I am being sarcastic. If anyone has those promblems please say something.

Terrible. This app should be an embarrassment to everyone associated with it at any level. Not due to the content, which is excellent. But, on the technical side it is an absolute disaster. No one responsible for that part of the app should have a job and all should receive a lifetime ban from ever working in this field again. My profile on the app confirms that I selected the U.S. version in English. Nevertheless, half the time the pages are in Spanish. This is particularly true on ESPN Plus, which is the source of most of the app’s shortcomings. I pay for a subscription. Sometimes the app lets me actually watch a program or read an article. Most of the time, I get a message that I must log in with my provider to view the content. I already am logged in. I have to log out and log in again. Sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn’t. It is maddening, especially if I am trying to watch a live sporting event. It often has the same problem when I am trying to read an article on Plus. I will open the story and receive a message that I must be a subscriber to read the full story. It gives me an option to subscribe or log in. I already am logged in. But I log in again. After being “successfully” logged in, I again try to open the article. Deja Vu. I have had this happen as often as 3 times on one article. I gave up after the third so I don’t know if the 4th time would have been the charm. This will be my final month with that frustration, as I intend to cancel my subscription.

Extremely Difficult to find Cricket Content. Ever since Disney and ESPN+ bought Hotstar Cricket, it’s been very difficult to find Cricket content. For example, if I have watch highlights of a cricket Match, I have to first goto ESPN+ icon, then find the sport, then to make it worst it’s last on the list so you have to keep scrolling right. In general, it’s very difficult to navigate to find cricket content. Multiple clicks need to be done before you find Cricket. They offer a feature called Favorites but it doesn’t work as expected. I have added Cricket as favorite sport, but it doesn’t mean nothing. You still have to perform multiple clicks to reach cricket content. What’s the point of having a favorite when you can’t access it easily? I am hoping the developers of the application improve Cricket experience in the app. There are a HUGE number of cricket subscribers that got migrated from Hotstar to ESPN & ESPN should be paying attention to that. ESPN acquired a platform & they should pay equal attention to cricket just like other sports.

Worst App. I wrote a review over a year ago noting that this was the worst app I have ever used. I was hoping since I saw that a tremendous amount of other people were saying the same thing, that ESPN would correct the issues in future updates, but this has largely not been the case. Although there have been several updates, and ESPN has sunk money and effort into watch ESPN and the new ESPN+, their app is STILL the worst one I’ve ever used. It seriously almost never loads on the first try, which is something that numerous other people are also complaining about. Honestly almost every time I use it it doesn’t load and I have to close it out and try again. I am constantly getting ESPN updates that are interesting to me and when I click on the notification to read further, it literally never brings me to the article I clicked on. I just tried it several more times and it didn’t work once. ESPN is a top rate organization with an absolutely horrendous app. I have had it for several years and it was and is the slowest, worst working app that I have.

Doesn’t really support personalization. I’ve been using it for many years but it refuses to care about my interests, which through my interactions should be very obvious. They always push their own preferred content to the top. For example, I understand there is a PGA championship going on but I NEVER, ever once clicked on a golf story, but that’s what they’re pushing to the top these days. I’m the kind of fan that follow teams, not individual players, but this app is constantly showing a section to recommend I follow individuals, and the “Recommended for You” choices are a million miles away from anything I show interest in - nobody from the teams or sports I follow, rather just the players in pop culture or who have big contracts. Well, what about the teams I do follow, can I just get a quick glance at what they’re doing? Not really, I have to navigate around and scroll until I can finally find the content I really care about. There’s no attempt to really learn my preferences and show what I want. There isn’t even an option to pay for personalized content or to remove ads. This ESPN app really appears to be about promoting content, advertisements and agendas and we sports fans just have to deal with it. Having said this, once you get to the content you want, there really isn’t a better sports app out there - again that’s why I deal with all the other baggage that comes with it. Oh, and it can be pretty laggy with scores and updates.

App isn’t designed for streaming. I recently got ESPN+ mostly to get access to the 30 for 30 collection. I’m happy to be able to watch all of the old and new docs but in terms of streaming content the app leaves MUCH to be desired. There’s no way to pick up a program where you left off or even see what you’ve been watching. I understand that the majority of viewers watch ESPN exclusively for (live) sports but it’s frustrating that I have to spend 5-10 minutes browsing just to find the 30 for 30 library before I can even find the doc I want to watch. The only alternative is to search for the name but that only works once I’ve started and/or know the name of the exact one I want to watch. I’d love the ability to save favorite programs or even better add things to a watch list. If ESPN wants to compete in the streaming space especially for non-live content, I think a major overhaul of the app is in order.

Buggiest, Most Infuriating App Available. I love sports. I love everything about them. The competition, the excitement, the highlights and immortalized moments. I think to myself, “What could ruin this?” “We know,” ESPN answered. And in response, the “Worldwide Leader in Sports” created an app that draws you in with the promise of seeing the latest highlights, breaking news and the latest scores, but then only delivers sponsored ads, the app shutting down after you wait 5 minutes for your page to load, and endless click-bait to ESPN+ articles. How the ads for videos always come through crystal-clear yet my actual video I want to watch makes me feel like Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn before the glasses is beyond me. With all the resources this company has, I’d love if they’d spend the time to make this app work somewhat better than Paul George in the postseason, but for now it’s like going to a DC movie after being told it’s just like a Marvel one. Quit making basic content ESPN+ only, and make the rest of the stuff work like you have trillions of dollars and understand the internet. Do better, ESPN. Do better.

Tv Provider Glitch. This is my second time making a comment. Since I have been charged a months service,I attempted again to use what I paid for.. to no avail. First thing I noticed was it hit connecting to my Bluetooth properly for some reason. After shrugging this off I almost had hope because I was able to see the game I wanted to watch for about 6 minutes, almost throughout the 2nd qtr to halftime but to my disappointment the app then rejected my connection and started to prompt me to enter a provider sign in again. I paid for this thru the App Store and I am signed in with my proper ID/info. I’ve uninstalled, re-installed, signed in and out and tried far enough. $5 was stolen from me and as far as the game I tried to watch...it blacked out 20 seconds before halftime and I got the notification from the team app right afterwards with the score confirming that I missed my teams buzzer beating 3 pointer. Fabulous. This takes away from my quality of life. I’ll never get that time back. Thanks ESPN app. Keep up the bad work 👎🏾

Too political, alienating. ESPN has crossed a line recently for me. I know you guys have always slanted pretty far to the left. But when you use your platform to relentlessly attack Drew Brees for stating his moderate opinion in direct response to a question, to me that is irresponsible, divisive, cowardly, pandering, etc... In that same response, Drew Brees also acknowledged racial disparities and expressed his desire to be part of a unified solution going forward, a sentiment most Americans on both sides agree with. Again, all off the top of his head in response to a direct question. Can we please try to focus on making positive changes rather than dragging someone’s name through the mud for expressing an opinion that does not 100% support the left-sided narrative? Maybe balanced and thoughtful content wouldn’t generate enough headlines and clicks, and that is fair. But don’t delude yourself into thinking you guys are doing something good for the world by shouting down Drew Brees and constantly pushing a one-sided narrative. You are dividing people where there is room to unify. You are making things worse. You are part of the problem.

Need a new ESPN.. So many issues with this app. Getting a live stream to work feels like playing the lottery sometimes. You will get notifications to read things that you have to pay to read. The scores interface is horrible and I have to search for teams even if I have them favorited. A lot of the time they don’t even bother putting records for teams or even stats for games. It is somehow easier to go to each individual team/schools website and find the information there. Incredibly glitchy, slow, and unreliable. This is a prime example of what happens when we see a lack of competition. It is apparent they have 0 standards for their fans because of a lack of diversity in the market. As they start to invade “news” nowadays, they push for equality and love. Meanwhile, they show no care or concern for the general population as there are endless requests to make changes. Actions still speak louder than words in this world. It would be nice to see you guys practice what you preach one day, a lot of good could be done.

UFC Streaming iPhone issues. This is one of the worse apps I have ever had. The buffer times are ridiculous and half of the time You can’t even watch what you want to because it won’t load off of the app on the iPhone and it’s not because of a slow connection or Wi-Fi issue because everything else works you would think that the top leader in sports would have an application that works. This was during the UFC espn+ main card 2nd fight on the main card and happened during the prelims as well. My app and iPhone are both up to date. I tried it on my droid and my computer and it did the same thing, buffer for 10sec then just go back to the page or freeze the app. I hope you address this issue. Dana White this only happened during the UFC fights all other streams worked. I was optimistic about UFC going over to ESPN for this reason.

I’m primarily a tennis fan!. I paid the fee for this app during one of the Major tournaments and the thing that they don’t allow you to know is that they have no intention of showing matches between well known players. They only show show players who are not well known to the public. When I complained to ESPN, they blamed this on AT&T not allowing a certain ESPN Channel in our area. I didn’t pay my fee for the app to AT&T, I paid it to ESPN. I feel that this is fraudulent for them to not warn a viewer of this information. They need to say, upfront, we are only showing unknown players with this app. I simply don’t understand why they don’t just leave TENNIS on the TENNIS CHANNEL where people understand tennis fans and allow viewers to see any match they want to view. ESPN has too many people yakking while they could be showing the matches. At least on the Tennis Channel, I can just mute the yakking and view the match. Well I wrote to Apple and told them that I thought ESPN was deceptive in their description of this app. I did get a refund. I will never trust an ESPN app again.

Only The Ads Connect 100% of The Time. They do not tell you in the terms and conditions, but when you sign up you will be force fed a ton of ads, before and after every video. ESPN can not maintain the connection for the sport clips/videos you pay to see and hear, 100% of the time. However they can maintain the connection for you to see and hear ads, 100% of the time. The only thing that works on this paid app is the ads. You have to pay a subscription just to be force fed a ton of ads. This is the problem with corporate people in general within this country. The rich white folks/corporate people pay no taxes. Own everything. And screw people over by charging the little people a fee for stuff that will never work 100% of the time, but they sure as heck will charge you 100% of the bill and then leverage your info, to sell & make money from other rich white corporate people who pay no taxes, to run ads, ads, and more ads before and after every sport highlight. Corporate greed on a scale from 1-10 is a 100.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. Everyone everywhere is complaining about espn plus. the quality of your streams during any live sports event is awful. Your live streams are also super laggy and choppy and glitchy. They frequently cut out with sound. And frequently make you reboot. In fact i needed to reboot about 10 times (no exaggeration at all) in order to watch a pay per view fight (UFC 263) that i payed around 70 bucks for, and in addition it was laggy when it played and cut out with audio on multiple occasions. If you ask me you are scammers. This happens every week with every UFC event. I pay a monthly fee for ESPN+ just for it to lag constantly and not work half the time. Even though tonight’s fights were great, i was completely frustrated and angry the entire night due to your terrible streaming service. Please fix your service this is ridiculous and you will loose a lot of business in the future if you don’t provide the service that we the costumers payed for. This is just unacceptable.

ESPN+ is a waste of money. I specifically purchased ESPN+ to watch the US Open tennis matches. All news articles and other sources, including ESPN itself, indicated that I would be able to watch all US Open tennis matches with ESPN+. The days of the women’s and men’s finals arrive and I cannot seem to watch the live match without logging in with a cable provider. After searching DEEP within the FAQs I finally see a notice that says the women’s and men’s final matches won’t be aired on ESPN+. Each time, the notice doesn’t come up until the DAY of the match. What a rip off and a scam. If that was the case, it should have been made clear. I would not have wasted money on ESPN+ and would have found another way to view the matches. Also, because the notice did not come up until the DAY of the match each time, and the first time it happened, the match had already started by the time I realized I couldn’t watch it, there was no way for me to find an alternative bar/friend’s place to watch it and instead I missed it and had to check the score by refreshing google instead.

This used to be my favorite app. For years, this was my #1 go to sports app hands down. The Watch ESPN app was my 2nd favorite. I live by the saying, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” As soon as they merged the Watch ESPN app with the regular ESPN app, I’ve been highly disappointed. I cannot even stream the regular games that are on ESPN. Every time I click the game, it shows it’s trying & then nothing happens. Watch ESPN app allowed me to watch several games from my iPad. NO IT IS NOT MY INTERNET CONNECTION!!! I am using WIFI at home & the app doesn’t even allow me to stream live games from my iPad. They need to fix the Watch ESPN part. Now i can’t even watch the North Dakota State football games anymore because of the poor quality of the apps & the Bison is my 2nd favorite college football team. Please bring back Watch ESPN app.

Not enough sport(s) content. Not enough articles on my favorites teams. The (narratives) stagnate. No new information and new repeats storylines that are months old. And there is espn plus. Let’s watch content on the phone. The search function can not find shows when you type the correct title. Also, the app does not remember what shows you watch. My favorite function of streaming apps is remembering the shows I watch and the episodes. When I open the app my favorite shows are one click away. I spend 5 minutes to find the one show I watch on the app. Finally. You can not access your fantasy team through the app. This app is another thing that ESPN does not understand, much like podcasts. The best sports podcasters are ex-espners. It is confusing. ESPN loses sports content creators who have interesting thoughts on sports and keep employees who do watch games and talk about sports in a way that makes the audience realize that the person did not watch the game. Do waste your time. This app is awful.

Continuous issues over multiple years. I've had the ESPN app and used it for streaming for years. In the early days I was willing to accept the bugs and the issues with ads and chrome cast and whatever else. Now that streaming is so well established and they've been streaming sports for more than 5 years they should have been able to figure this stuff out. Seems like they've done a really really poor job with quality control in general, not to mention the mess of licensing issues that come from having TV subscriptions mixed with ESPN+ and other subscriptions. Sometimes you just can't watch a game that you've paid for(both on tv and on ESPN+ and they never explain why). The most recent issue I've encountered is they stopped supporting chrome cast, so now you have to use Apple's air play. Not a big deal if it works, but it doesn't. Everytime the stream goes to a commercial break it freezes. I now have to disconnect and reconnect the airplay Everytime a commercial happens. Pretty dang annoying.

Awful. Horrendous, failure, 0 stars, worst company, L, why can’t I sign into Roku without the stupid message that it’s not available, worst thing I’ve ever seen, even paid for ESPN+ thinking it would let me watch what I wanna watch, but no, they just take your money and run away and give you awful things to watch in return. Just another money hungry company that’s robbing people and thinking it’s right, maybe make it more accessible and better, once I pay for a subscription I feel I should be able to watch what I want. By far the worst thing ever. Good news though, I can watch f1 in Spanish. But I have to have a tv provider ( I used roku/sling) and it says it doesn’t allow viewing. Just another company that has no clue what they are doing. ESPN is awful and if you disagree then you are secretly being paid by ESPN to leave a good review to make them more money and make them look like they know what they are doing even though they have no clue and just put things to watch out there that only 5 people will watch. Pretty stupid if you ask me

Mediocre Especially For the “World Wide Leader”. The app crashes from time to time. The “stories” feature they added a while ago is always super laggy. The library content for ESPN+ is decently organized and there is no way to pick back where you left off on things that you have been watching. Sometimes my ESPN+ subscription is not registered for some reason. I hate that when I try to access an article using its link that is embedded in another article, it opens it up in a browser-like page instead of in the app itself (another way that I cannot access my ESPN+ subscription). International content is also not readily available in the app which is ironic because how can you lead the world in sports while at the same time not offer content from other parts of the world (e.g., International Soccer). The state of this app is reflective of the state of ESPN in general: mediocre. The only thing that saves it is the great writers like Jeff Pasan and a few others.
