Expanded my reading breadth.. I’ve listened to a greater variety of wonderful books than I would have expected. There are many undiscovered treasures in the public domain and read by talented narrators in this app. Ten stars! Sometimes I wish I could slow the reading down a bit. It seems too fast.

It is a pleasant thing.. This app opens a door to stories and lessons that are priceless. I have enjoyed the free portions. As for the rest well, everything in life isn’t free, good thing I don’t need to know everything. But thank for your generosity. JCA

Beats radio for commuters…. It works. Good selection of books. Some of the readers aren’t the best, some of the recordings aren’t the best. But the price is right. And it beats listening to that wacky duo on the “morning zoo” or having to listen to that stupid commercial that will drive you crazy if you hear it just one more time…

Sometimes great. I love this as a resource but I wish they curated some of the people who do the reading a bit more critically. When listening to the Count of Monte Cristo, chapters 25 and 26 are nearly unlistenable. The woman has thick accent and is clearly uncomfortable reading English, also her audio equipment is terrible. There is a high pitched sound in the background. Very difficult to listen to. Some of the readers are great, with good voices and high audio quality. But some aren’t nearly as good. I especially the narrator in chapters 25 and 26. I can’t really under what happened in those chapters. Looking back I should have just skipped them and looked up what happened. It gave me a terrible headache.

Jane Eyre. What a great book! Thank you, Audiobooks, for making it available without cost. I hope to begin another very soon. This one I enjoyed thoroughly, and was delighted to perceive Charlotte Bronte‘s understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ and her evident embrace of it.

Buggy after latest update. I loved this app but after the latest update it stops playing after 30 seconds then it glitches and freezes and the app can’t be used. I constantly had to close and try to relaunch the app but even that is hit and miss.

Great app except. You have changed the view on this app so that the font is much larger. It isn’t something I can change. When you want to do a search for a new book you only use 1/2 to 1/3 of the page so you can only see a few titles at a time. I can no longer scroll through quickly to find a new book. Also is there a way the app could know which books we have already read without downloading it again to find out?

Limited selection. They can’t get books that are extremely popular... you have to give them a credit card to find out if they have what you want to read.... only to find out they don’t have it but now they have my credit card number... There is no place in settings that says cancel my subscription so I sent them an email with the subject Cancel my subscription now I wait to see if I get a bill It would be better to find what you want to read before you commit to the app

No library, no problem!. I really prefer books written in the 1800s and have found most of the authors I like to read. The readers have taken time out if their lives to read these books for our enjoyment. I really appreciate them.

Amazing!. Wonderful! I use this all the time, and there’s always an interesting story waiting for me every time I open the app. My only complaint is sometimes I cant understand the narrators. I understand that the narrators are volunteers, but maybe just review the audio, make sure that your listeners can understand them. Just a suggestion. Otherwise, amazing app!

Bad app problem. Ever since I got this app it was good to have. Until this happen. I had a library of books that has been downloaded with all the files, when I open the app, every downloading files are gone and start yet again download them once more. This happen to me twice and I'm sick and tired of having all the files downloaded for only the app self delete the books files. I'm done with this app. I used to love it and I enjoy it listening good books from there; just hate the idea of auto self destruct app and start over. I have zero time to waste for all the books files to be downloaded.

Simply the Best!. Great selections of old autobiographies, history and fiction. *Love that it has previews. And a very reasonable price to get the intro credits removed too. * the speed variation doesn’t work, but who cares when you get so much out of this app.

The window at the white cat. I first downloaded this book around 10 years ago and have been listening over and over as one of my absolute favorite books, and the reading by Robert kiper is one of the most soothing voices as a narrator. Thank you

Good books, Okay narrating. I have enjoyed these books so much! I got Audiobooks Plus, which is somewhat better. Some narrators are good, but the quality varies. I had to stop reading one audiobook because I could barely understood what they said. And another Plus book was read by a child. Not an enjoyable read. But you can sometimes get a good reader. Overall, if you want to hear a book, regardless of how you hear it, this is the place to go. The Sherlock Holmes reading is excellent (If you do the ones by David Clarke.) There are some small errors in the organization of the books in the authors, for example. My rating (out of 5 stars) Narrating ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Books ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What has happened?. Recently redownloaded this amazing app, as it has many amazing audiobooks I love, but it keeps turning itself off. I’m not moving around, but it keeps cutting off. The response time of checking other parts of the app are extremely slow, and it has sped up the speed multiple times despite not touching it. Please tell me if there’s anything I can do to restore it’s former glory!

Fabulous narrator!. I love this book and the narrator does a tremendous job. The story is intricate and well woven to keep the reader's attention. The glimpse into the characters emotions and feelings upon having dealt with such harsh blows is thought provoking. I have listened through twice and enjoyed the story just as much the second time.

Best audio library for classical lit. The biggest problem I have with other audio-book apps is that in many cases they only offer abridged versions, so it’s really just an interpretation of a work. Not here, you get the original version by the author. The recordings vary in quality, there have been a few that were so bad, I couldn’t even listen to them, but some are as good as the pay sites and read by pro readers. Also, I highly recommend forking over the $10 for the featured audiobooks, it’s such a great value! I’ve listened to about 60 books from this app.

A complicated life... beautiful narration.. How did we get to where we are, from where we have been? Jane Austen writes of such a complex life, which most of us in the 21st Century would find impossible to navigate, let alone survive. As always, we have so much to be thankful for. The narration by Elizabeth Klett is simply lovely. For those of us who enjoy audiobooks, the narrator is usually the deal breaker when it comes to choosing the book or not. Congratulations Ms. Klett.

Great fun!. I really enjoy this app and use it frequently. My literary interests have almost always dwelt in long ago and lesser known titles, and this app gives me access to tomes nearly impossible to find anywhere else. I give it only four stars because the search function can be rather problematic. For example; I’ll search for titles written by a certain author and only be given a few choices, but if I look up that author under the actual Authors section, there are dozens more. Or I’ll search for a title and the results give about twenty other titles along with it that seem to have no connection to that title at all. Sometimes this is because my title was mentioned in the description of the other books, but other times not. There have been other difficulties with the search function, but for the sake of conciseness, I won’t mention them here. I have also noticed that many of the titles available on the Librivox website are not available here; I’m not sure if the reason for this, but it would be great to have access to them as well. Also, it can be very time consuming to find a title that captures my interest and holds onto it as well, so I wanted to suggest the addition of a “recommended for you” section that brings up available titles based on your previous listening selections. I believe this would seriously streamline the process and increase the enjoyment of your app. Thanks! Tami

Selections are endless. I have had the app for a couple weeks now and have no problems playing books. The selections are endless. I love old time radio and they are hard to find but audiobooks has a large selection and it grows everyday. Very good app!!!

Frustrating. The most frustrating thing about this app is how many books are cut up by being narrated by persons with thick accents or very annoying cadences! Some narrators accents are so thick that you cannot understand them at all, or their reading style is so weird and annoying to listen to. Then there are a couple narrators who are a pleasure....like Andy minter. I choose the book by the narrators for this reason

Great app but doesn’t have what I like. Pros: This app is one great app! I loved listening to books I’ve never even heard of before! Cons: There are some books I really want to listen to but I can’t find them! Also super laggy, I looked up many ways of the books I want to listen to but instead of the books I want, it gives me other books not even close to what I searched up! Recommended: I would love if you fixed that and added more books like my sister’s favorite Warrior cats. (She has to use my phone to listen to them because she doesn’t have one) also recommend adding more books for younger kids because my aunts daughter wants better not “scary” books… P.s. Not saying you HAVE to do this it’s recommended though..

I love Audiobooks!. I absolutely love Audiobooks! I remember a time when I was read to as a child, and this evokes those lovely memories!! This is my favorite way to pamper myself with my favorite classics being read to me— whether in the car, at home, or morning walks. Love it!!

Classic trying to improve the menu made it confusing. The menu before was very easy to maneuver. You could go from playing it back to your library easily now all the buttons are jammed at the bottom in a soon as you click on preview the book immediately starts to play. Looks like they want to upgrade it, and got someone to do it cheaply.

Great content, app itself needs some tweaking. The new update is pretty good, and of course having access to all these classics is great. My one complaint is that we can not edit the order our books are in in the library. If I try to sort them, they go right back to where they were to begin with. Please address this in the next update.

Love it!. I have listened to uncountable number of books every night for years! I have discovered many amazing new authors, laughed and cried, and now can’t go to sleep without it. I started by listening to the favorite 50 books and listened to all the books of my favorite authors. Next, I listened to my genres with a relisten to my favorites once in awhile. Thank You 😀

La belle et la bete.. I needed something loke thisnto help me learn french about 50 years ago, but any audio tapes in francais cost so much, and the quality of the sound was not very good. This here, on the other hand, is very clear, with a native speaker doing the reading. The fact that this is free is a dream, a great blessing. I thank God for the altruism of the folks who put this together.

Soothing harshness. Cutting two the deepest Sub level of truth. One may experience the double edge sword. To choose to see seems to be the harder choice. Yet in the long run, one tends to avoid the horrific harshness that exceeds oblivion. Find Schopenhauer. 2 be delightful

Backward steps in my experience. I have listened to Librivox books with this app for years. Enough so that paying the small fee to access plus titles was easy. However, for reasons unknown, the app now irregularly purges completed downloads. I dod not want to leave a review regarding this, but it happened again this morning: 15-20 books went from “all files downloaded” to “0 files downloaded.” I’ve written and received responses several times on this single issue though no resolution has surfaced. The customer svc response time is fine; it’s just that this malfunction persists. The explanation they offered was that the app might purge previously complete downloads if/when a device’s available storage is exhausted or close to it. I have averaged 8-12gb of free space throughout my correspondence with developer, and have never run out of space. Unfortunately, I am to the point where I will trial the many competing apps. Resigned, EJ

Scarlet pimpernel pride and prejudice. Karen Savage was the narrator on these and several other titles. She is fantastic. This app has been so enjoyable. I am somewhat selective with the narrators . But for a free app it has been wonderful. Thanks for offering so many great titles. Although... I’m having issues with this app running background and draining my iPhone 7 Plus battery. I’ve had this app for 5 years and LOVE IT. But turning off the background refresh didn’t work. 😢 please fix it.

Ok but a bit of a bug that’s bugging me. Something is wrong with the downloading process. Often I have to close the app and reopen it in order to retrigger the app to resume downloading after one file has completed. It usually gets stuck once it finishes one file and doesn’t move on to the next. Sometimes it continues with the next file but almost always it doesn’t, meaning I have to close and reopen many many times for books with many files, like the ones I have that are about 60 files big. It’s very annoying and inconvenient. I tried messing around with the settings but couldn’t get the download process to work right. Please fix this!

Downloaded files repeatedly deleted. For a long time this was a great app- the narration and user interface were great, and so many books to choose from! But there has been a recurring problem with the files simply disappearing all at once. All books will be 100%, and the next time I open the app, they will all be 0%. Repeatedly. I only have a few books at a time and plenty of memory, so I don’t see why it should purge like this. Honestly tempted to delete the app if I can’t even listen to one book without downloading it four times.

A driving/flying companion bar-none. I've had to drive/fly many miles, and the way I have the audiobooks, on my favorite History, non-fiction books. Now on my car they play by Bluetooth thru the car radio.

So very helpful. Such an excellent way to enjoy certain books. Let’s face it, some books are more challenging than others, and in our day and age we are struggling to find time for the important things. This helps make important things, such as growth and intellectual exercise a priority. The app’s interface is clean and easy with a good feature set: back up, jump ahead, sleep timer, etc. Enjoyable and helpful. Thanks also to LibriVox!

A must have app.. This app opens a door to an amazing library of literary works that are free to download. This app has helped me from stressing over the commute every day and has opened my mind to many wonderful works of literature. You will not be disappointed!

So thankful!!!!. I am so appreciative of this app. Most audio book apps cost money. I am a wife and a mother of five children. Money is very sparse in my house especially for extras. I used to be an avid reader but with the business of caring for a large household as well as dealing with focus issues as I get older, it is very difficult to find the time to read a book. Now, I’m able to enjoy literature as I wash dishes or care for other responsibilities around the house and it is helping to keep my spirits up. Thank you!❤️

Worthwhile service. Many old books for free with decent audio. I wish it had the casebook of sherlock holmes, since it has the first 4 volumes and books. And that it was satisfied with 1 review, since this is the second time it has asked me.

A surprise. I am a great fan of Sherlock Homes but had my doubts about a non mystery. Surprise Sir A C Doyle delivered a great moving story. A story full or tensions. It held and kept my attention and had me rooting for the captives while wondering how and if they could be saved.

The selections are great!. For me, it’s wonderful to listen to a book while drawing, knitting, or even cooking. What a great way to multi-task! When I become too distracted, the 30 second repeat gets me right back into the story, and I just discovered the timer which will hold my place and turn the app off automatically, after I fall asleep while listening in bed. Since I often leave my earbuds in and wake up next morning, many hours later, with the audio still running, this is really important to me. The selection of books is tremendous, and I am enjoying so many well known authors who’s works I hadn’t read before, as well as authors I was previously unfamiliar with. Sometimes I have difficulty understanding an orators dialect, but when I stick with it, am becoming able to comprehend the words readily, which is an unexpected bonus for me. When deciding on what to select, the book description is broad enough to give a good idea of what it’s about, without giving away the story. I recommend this app to anyone who enjoys books!

Great App!. I love that I can listen to books that I may not have picked up in a store with this App. Going through some of the classics right now. Only negative is that some books have multiple narrators. The last one has the sane guy for 15 out of 16 chapters and then for the last chapter a woman. Kind of changed the ending for me... there are a lot of talented readers and some not so much bu I am grateful the volunteered.

Awesome. I think this app is very good plus it is free. From the App Store I can go around anywhere I want to just listen to 90 bucks I love this app I only have one complaint that is some of the chapters don't play but besides that I think it's all good and some of the voices you can't understand but that's not their fault.👍💜💙🐾💝💝💝💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

A Girl of the Limberlost. The early 20th century is the time. A small town surrounded by farmland the place. Living from birth with a mother who resented her very existence, Elnora Comstock does not grow into an embittered young woman. Instead, she makes her way with a full heart, sympathy and forgiveness for everyone she meets. Earning her way as a budding naturalist and then a teacher she finally finds a mother and then a lover deserving of her. The language can run to overly sentimental; but the story is engaging and enjoyable.

I love this app!. I recommend this app to my friends. With it's handy snooze setting, I can fall asleep listening to what ever book I fancy. I can also listen to my favorite authors while doing household chores or crafting . My son uses this app to listen to classical literature , while he follows along on the Kindle for books like Ivanhoe which may be a little difficult for him. This is a very useful app.

Update-keeps erasing my downloads. Below this you will see my original 5 star review. However, in the last couple months it continuously deletes my downloads. Instead of indicating a 100% download, everything is now 0%, awaiting download. I live in a rural area with very poor internet connection, so it is essential that I have books on my phone. Also, I rely on this app when I travel, but I can’t anymore if it keeps deleting my downloads. Please fix this. I had it on my iPhone 2, my iPhone 4 and now my iPhone 6s. If it were the only app on my phone, the cost of my phone would be worth it. So many books and so many genres to choose from! Some readers are better than others, but, hey, they are volunteers. I have about 50 books downloaded to my library which has slowed things down a little so I make sure now to delete the file and just keep the title. I love being able to store books to have on hand when I travel. I love being able to listen to all the science fiction selections and the history and biographies. I love being able to fall asleep to a book after a stressful day. Just download it and enjoy!

Fun. I really enjoy listening to books that I have never read as well as books I remember reading as a child. This is a great app for books and while driving to and from work I can get lost in the stories!

LOVE IT just one question...... So I LOVE this app it has SOOOOOO many amazing authors and books!! With that being said their is one thing I wish that I saw more....KID BOOKS!! I wish their were more books for kids such as Nancy Drew, and what about comic books? Can we see some of those?, and what about Magic Treehouse? Speaking of Magic Treehouse can you guys make a feature where you can search Series of books and guys group them together so all the books in the series in one group that would be awesome! If you guys have these features please let me know thanks! 😘

easy to use for streaming and download books. I use voiceover. This app is the easiest to use when streaming and downloading book using voice over. I have tried many other apps.

Enjoy listening when I can't read. I like being able to set the time I want to listen and then have it turn off. Often go to bed listening to a section of the book but if I fall asleep it won't keep going. Only problem is that I have to try to find what I last heard, as there are no visual clues where I am in the book.

Perfect. I had a hard time to sleep... But I wanted a good book. I couldn’t find a good book I have. I looked for a app but there was none that I could understand. I saw this and I am listening to Alice in wonderland and I love it! Please can you make great apps like this?

GREAT app!!!. AWESOME app for discovering and enjoying a huge collection of FREE audiobooks. They have several well-known classics as well as a huge list of other works, which I estimate to be in the hundreds. They do offer the books for a couple dollars if you want better quality, but I’m content with the lesser so far. Definitely recommend!! I didn’t used to enjoy audiobooks- but because of this app I now do!

Audio Books. Very good app. Some of the readers are terrible, but just listen to previews to find out if you can handle their voices. Other readers are great. The purchase books are very reasonable value if you buy them as a whole instead of one at a time. All in all pretty good app and worth the download. Also the sleep timer is a great addition.

It’s good, but..... I like it a lot, because you don’t have to pay for the books as far as I know, but the readers are hella boring. Some of them sound so sad and depressed, like, at least change the tone of your voice!

Fantastic App. Driving to and from work used to be frustrating - listening to all the drivel on the radio. Now, I can catch up on some serious reading and not drive dangerously. Bluetooth, an iPhone and Audiobooks - the perfect combination for drivetime relaxation. Well done!

Good. Good idea, some books are great, some are poor. It's all determined by who is reading it though. Swiss Family Robinson is sweet. Though the app DESPERATELY needs chapter select. I fell asleep at chapter 4, and when I woke up, I had to go back through a lot of chapters to get back where I was, and every chapter had to load before going back

Don’t suggest. I diddnt like it there were only really bad books and nothing about good for teens like there were no options do not buy

Doesn’t have all the books you want!. Hello developers I have tried to find the book by the name of the road to winter but you don’t have it nor do you have the author of the book mark smith anywhere on this app please add it to audio books

Surely this is a joke. Those chosen to narrate these books have obviously been selected from the general population in shopping centre car parks. It is ridiculous to expect people to want to continue listening to someone speaking in the manner that these narrators speak. If you have the opportunity listen to The first minute of crime and punishment by Dostoyevsky and you will understand why this must be a joke. I have listened to the beginning of eight books on this app and it doesn’t get any better ever in fact it mostly gets worse. Don’t waste your time until they get decent narrators

So over this!. I’ve been listening to and enjoying these books for years, but not so much recently. Every time I open the app it starts downloading ALL the books in my Library. Ridiculous! When I continue listening to a book it suddenly stops after a few minutes due to the downloading. Pausing is also an issue because the screen freezes. Fix this! How hard can that be?

On the 1star rating. The post saying pride and prejudice isn’t read by anyone that is appropriate for the role. Well I listened and, it’s a play and it even has a reader for every role, not just a clear and concise voice to convey the literature but a play. Put 7 ppl in 7 sound rooms to blend like it on a sound board as is standard, then to mix them and with no audio track in the back is so much harder than doing so with music. Worth dling the app

Great app. Good lots of audio books for free although they are read by volunteers and occasionally change readers part way through there is an option to buy an audiobook read by someone known however still i love the audio books great range of books for free.

Nice effort. I love this app great idea abit off development maybe a paying version to buy better readers and I'm sold. Can wait for ur library to grow too..maybe just go to ur local library and 'borrow' some of their abooks:p well done guys

Mr. I do a lot of travelling and this app makes all that time much more productive. Some issues i've had with a previous version have all disappeared (to do with resuming playback after closing the app) in the current version. Some of the readers themselves are a little strenuous to pay attention to, but this may just improve my listening skills :)

audiobooks. I love listening to the old classics again, such a good range of titles. I'm spending many hours of relaxation and rest in a stressful and busy world listening to some old favorites

Crashing issues. I’ve listen to the books for years without issue now I can’t listen to them anymore due to the app trying to constantly re downloading the stories and it freezes. When the app says all books are download it crashes in the first 3 minutes into a book it didn’t save where u left off at goes right back to the beginning after reopening it

Audiobooks. Absolutely love this app!!! I listen to it every night in bed, it helps me sleep. Best app on my phone by far! Cori Samuel is my favorite reader! So grateful that this is a free app, so many great free books! Only app that I use every single day!!! Thank you

Fantastic audio book app. Best audio books app i have ever gotten lots of free books including classics and popular books i would recomend it to anyone who like me takes long boring bus rides to work and back. To finish the speakers are fantastic and really make the books come alive. :)

Well designed App. Great App to listen to free books. The narrator option is an excellent way to discover book you may not have thought of reading.

Options. I love the app idea and all that. But there's not really many options I'm interested into. The main book I was looking for was "Run Baby Run - Nicky Cruz" if you could please add this book to the options, that would be oh so deliteful. Love the app though! 👊🏿✌🏿️

Fabulous App. I always listen to audio books in the car now and on the bus. I look forward to my travel into uni instead of dreading it. The 30 sec skip is so amazingly useful. I'm picky about readers, but when I find one I like I listen to all their books. It's inspired me to volunteer as a reader myself. Look out for readings by Charlotte Day in the near future.

As a man thinkith. I loved this book, in fact all of James Allen books are inspirational, educational & so relevant in these confusing times. If your wanting to better yourself & understand true fulfillment these audiobooks are just the answer. Thankyou

Audiobooks. Very very good for long walks in the countryside with the suitable book/play but there should be a quality barrier to some readers and they should suit the material. Lost all books on an IOS/iTunes update once and it took months to reload over my net provider plans. But overall like the concept as I'm not much of a real book reader myself.

Good but has a lot of room for improvement. This app is great if you are a fan of classics and is free. Unfortunatly each chapter has a different monotone reader and the 'this is a Libribox recording....' every chapter is so frustrating but if you can handle that it is great. There is a sleep function that turns off the audiobook after a set amount of time.

American accents are too strong. Sorry but I was hoping for a mix of accents such as Librivox has yet nothing but yanks way to hard to listen too

Wonderful!. I love this app, it's one of my favourites. The sleep timer is a thing of genius! I use it most nights to help me sleep and the timer is so handy, I haven't lost my place once. To the people complaining about the readers: they are volunteers, you cannot expect perfection. I personally have no complaints regarding the readers. All the books I have listened to have had excellent readers. They may occasionally stumble over a word or two (very rarely), or you can sometimes hear the pages of the books turning as they read, but it does not detract from the recording itself. The books are not modern, they are all public domain books, out of copyright. It is ridiculous to expect anything else from a FREE app. Overall, I think this app is amazing. It's very good quality, and it's free!

Good range of options. An avid reader of many genres since very young I have enjoyed using this app revisiting many old favourites and some new. Most narrators give good expression to the story. So far only one I was unable to tolerate the droning voice. I have only used the FREE list so far. Review written 19th January 2013

Great app. Have loved getting to know the great classics that I never read when I was younger. Most free recordings that I have listened to are good quality and well read. Thank you to the volunteers at librovox and thanks for giving us easy access to this great resource.

Love it.. I am just loving reading all the old novels! Terrific app....thanks to all the volunteer narrators! However...after many months of listening, I think it would be nice if some of the readers could actually read and not just badly pronounce the words the words. Specially when listening to the paid for Plus version.

Audio books. Fabulous app- I am addicted to it. Now reading 2-3 books a week🎶 I love the old books which R free - out of copy rite- I wud never read the hard copies and I wud hv missed this wonderful exp & transporting reading!! It's changed my mind and thinking for the better! The only addition I cud make is to bookmark the books read - or Cross out. Have had no problems- do agree that multiple readers is annoying and hard to follow! Also don't easily folllow some accents but that's not a huge problem.

Kent. Same crash problem as everyone else. Also wondering if book descriptions could be in audio format at some stage. I'm legally blind, can't read them any more.

Very stupid update. All my books are gone & play back is stopping half way through a chapter then going back to its beginning, previously loved this app

KiwiKay. I have loved & used this app which I discovered when I was too ill to read. I have been constantly using it for about 2 years. I went to bed listening to it for 15 minutes & when I woke up I couldn't use it. I saw there was an update, which I didn't do but my lovely favourite app of all has been dead to me ever since. 😢 Please restore!! I can't give any stars because I can't use it. PS I had paid for the upgrade also. 😟

Well, great.. I haven’t fully explored just yet, but I know one thing for sure the one series I want to read, HARRY POTTER ISNT IN ANY OF THE APPS IVE USED!! It has been in one, but can only read 29 pages, I just want HARRY POTTER BOOKS. If u could, ADD HARRY POTTER

Lovin it!!. Really like this app. Love listening in bed. Only complaint is some of the narrators are very robotic and hard to understand and when you find a book by a narrator it isn't them. Also wish there was only one narrator per book so that it would flow better. The intro at the start of each chapter also seems highly unnecessary and interupts the flow. Apart from that I am a BIG fan.

Love it!. Great application for someone who don't like to read on such a tiny screen! This apps will be much better if only use professional reader instead amateurs cause the way they read the story bit annoying and hard to understand for someone who's English isn't their native language.

Audiobooks. Have loved reading the classics and revisiting Austen, The Railway Children and others. Great way to get yourself off to sleep, has banished insomnia for many years, segmented recording means you can go back to where you left off and keep going. Well done to the volunteers at Librivox

With improvement this could be awesome. Book content fairly good the let down with this app is less than average quality in naration. Fix that & this app would be one to be in the top 50! I really hope the developers get this sorted soon or will have to look at another app. Not worth paying for as is!

Excellent. This is my most used application. The timer is a definite bonus great for those tired nights when trying to get to sleep. I love catching up on the classics whilst mowing the lawn, cleaning house, washing & when I am working & so far I have had great readers with perfect voices that suit the classic Austen style.

Audio books. I love being read to when I'm cooking or doing craft and this site has so much to choose from. I wouldn't mind more modern books included though

Love it. The audio books are excellent and really great. The narrators are excellent and interesting. It is a good way of getting in some readings when time is limited or for those who find reading difficult. :) :) ;)

No voice actor quality control.. I've reviewed at least a hundred books before deciding this application and the project behind it was a waste of my time. All readers are American, some with accents so thick the rest of the English speaking world will struggle to understand, or worse, be driven crazy by nasal female strong american accents. Some readers ... Read. Each. Word. Hard. Like they weren't a sentence. Others ... Not wanting ... To rush .. Space words ... Horribly Andthenyougettheoneswhotalklikemicrosoftsamatmaximumspeed. The voice actors are donating their time, fair enough, but there is NO QUALITY in any of the hundred or more I've heard so far. By far the worst is The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I used it as a demonstration to the dozen thousand viewers of my blog as to how NOT to anunciate or read a book or script. This entire project is a waste of time on the grounds they do not vet the donors and waste tens of thousands of hours letting people with the most grinding voices or worst anunciation drivel into a microphone. To the Libravox project: I urge you to review and delete your works that fail and audition for voice actors with recieved English above that of a primate. I would donate my time if I saw you admit your submissions need review and many need replacement, gladly. Just review your submissions, PLEASE!

Love it!!!. So worth it. Has all the classics and everything from the LibriVox project. Couldn't ask for anything better. The app is easy to use, has a sleep timer and lets you download the file to your device to listen to offline.

Don't upgrade. The upgrade does not work! You have to delete old version and re-install. ... It then works BUT you loose all books and if you have paid for plus books -it's gone. The restore purchases menu does not restore nothing. Not sure if you should pay again. Not sure what happened to my books that I paid for. Also new version has ads! Crappy.

Audio book app...greatttt mate!. I have just recently updated this app. The app is very nice and simple to use. In regard deleting items, it would be nice to be able to delete from the device and have easy access for upload at another time. To the detriment of being aware of what's happening (news wise) I use this app any time I go for a drive. Some of those audio book people are 10 star when it comes to bringing stories alive. And those that aren't WELL at least they're doing something AND thanks to them ALL I get to hear some yarns that I wouldn't other wise get a chance to hear. Any way it's a good app almost a 5 starred.

Improve the readers. Only just got this app but had to abandon the first book because of the grating, high-pitched nasal voice of the reader. I found another three books all read by the same person. Oh dear. I know the books are free, but you really want a voice you can engage with.

Twilight=sux Free = awesome so no complaining. Almost all books are free, but the free one have volunteer narrators which is perfectly fine at times, a wide selection of classics and divided into categories for easy browsing, I keep falling a sleep each listening very soothing, worth checking out!

Audiobook. The app was slow, and there wasn’t many (any at all) popular books like Harry Potter or keeper of the lost cities. Over all though, it was free so beggars can’t be choosers

What a disappointment. With this new version you have totally destroyed this app. An offline reader is what is needed but once again someone saw a buck to be made and excuses about to favor that instead of the listener. I hope you choke on the first dollar.

Not much to offer. Your selection of books are so little and in terms of languages when you have languages that considered the fifth spoken language in the world over 500 million people speaks the language ( Arabic ) not one title to offer on your list ,yet there is titles in other languages the most people can speak the language is less then 30 million people is this app biased by design? Or is it lack of knowledge of literature and history when you try to ignore a language that has 2 million word by 42 million definition I just wonder!!!!!

Great app. I love this app I listen to parts of the many stories every night to help me sleep . I do have some trouble with this app it constantly fails to load first try (this may be due to me using a 2nd gen IPod ) another issue I have is that when I try to search a book it takes several seconds before it loads. All in all I love this app even if it needs some improvement I truly would have a hard time living without this app

Horrible Audio Quality. The idea is great and there are lots of titles to choose from however despite paying for “premium service” to avoid advertising and the promise of better audio quality it sounds like you’re listening to radio from the 1920’s.

Too much wrong lately. I’ve had this app for years and listen to Jane Eyre VERY frequently. The past few months however there are too many glitches (made worse by the update it seems). App keeps crashing. Sometimes as soon as I hit play and set the timer….

Wonderful app especially for classics. Enjoy this app! This includes 3000 books that are in the public domain Not new books!!! Don't expect Harry Potter or current best sellers!! Why should these be free just because you have an iPhone. (Use the app Overdrive for new books and download them for free from your local library, like a loan for 21 days ) But with this app I am reading older books I missed including Zane Grey, Edgar Wallace and classics such as Sherlock Holmes and Jeeves stories. The controls are easy. Great on long commutes!! sometimes it continues even after I turned my phone off and I have to search for where I left off; it would be great to have some form of a bookmark. Hence the 4 stars not 5

Good...But Not Good. The free version of this app is worthwhile. The readers at Librivox are amateur, but include some very good readers such as Smokestack Jones and Mark Nelson. But buyer beware...the Pro version of this app is deceptive. It appears to give you access to a large variety of commercial books. However, it only gives you the ability to buy those books. So, basically, you pay $6.99 for the option to buy more audiobooks. Definitely not worth the money to upgrade the app; this could have easily been built as a feature in one of the other versions, so it's just a dishonest moneygrab on the part of the app makers.

What happened?. I hate it when apps that used to be free suddenly remove features and then make you have to pay to get them back in a new "Pro" version. Fail.

Anne of Avonlea. Charmingly read by Karen Savage. She is one of my favourite narrators. It’s always a pleasure to listen to a book that she narrates.

Only alright. Installed this app, purchased an audiobook because the free one was horrible and a few weeks later discovered the app was no longer on my phone. Confusing at best but I'll try again as I was enjoying listening to it before bed.

This app is ok if u like classics but u r a kid like me you would wish for some kind of books like Harry potter Percy Jackson and other books that we would like actually I suggest that u should have a place where we can say wat kind of books we suggest unless u already have it ... Superb idea but where is the quality control?. Further development is required. Several very unskilled readers are permitted to sully the classics, demonstrating their passion doesn't make up for their inadequacy and lack of basic linguistic skill. The editors of this app. should show greater discretion in selecting amongst volunteer readers of varying ability. It may be small consolation that a few jems are sprinkled amongst the rotten apples. The new update renders the application even more inadequate for wifi users since it has changed over from storing content in its entirety on your phone to live steaming wirelessly over a broadband connection.

Audio books. The quality of the books are fantastic, but the availability/amount of books is HIGHLY lacking and all classic novels.

Freezes and doesn’t respond. The app is not responsive anymore, it seems. I’ve had this app for years. I am on an iPhone with the newest iOS software as of January 24, 2023. Using the app, it keeps freezing and seems about 20 seconds behind the buttons I am pushing. Even more interesting is if I clear the app completely by swiping it off the home screen, it still runs for an extra 10 seconds before shutting off. No idea what’s going on, but it used to be way more user-friendly.

The practice of the presence of God. This is the kind of book you may want to read more than once

AMAZING!!!. This app is a need for all people like me who just love to read and read, sometimes I’ll read so much that I’ll throw a whole day out the window, but this app allows me to listen to some awesome books and do work at the same time! I absolutely love this app and will always love it 💕💕

It started ok but.... I paid a little extra for "better quality" I wasn't even half way through the book when it disappeared from the selection. I tried multiple searches to no avail.

App keeps crashing. I loved this up until the latest update which keeps crashing every 5 minutes. This renders it unusable. I’m on the latest iOS version on an iPhone 6.

A little princess. This book was beautifully written and read. The story was fanciful, but had many subtle lessons. The characters were well developed and very true to life, pointing to the fact that we all can impact the world, either with wondrous good or harshness and cruelty. Regardless which we choose, the effects will be felt and spread throughout the world and to those we touch. Which would you want to be remembered for, kindness or selfishness?

Eclectic Selection of Audiobooks. I've used this app for an interesting collection of books to listen to during long trips in the car and also while painting the house and doing other chores. A great way to get through the tedium.

It’s pretty cool. I really like it , pretty simple to use , I wish I could read along with it as I’m listening , if that makes sense , but it always helps me sleep because I can’t sleep without hearing noises.

Nice try but no potato. Nice effort. Great idea. Unfortunately most readers of poor quality due i suppose to being volunteer; but irritating nonetheless. And a ridiculous amount of self promotion. My god, charge a small fee or something but every part starts with the same boring statement. Makes it all distracting and horribly distracting.

Great Expectations. What an enjoyable listen. The only thing that would have made it better is if it had been read by an Englishman. Dickens was a master.

All of a sudden just stopped playing entirely. Just stopped working. At first it would randomly close itself out without being on the sleep timer. Now it just won’t start at all. It’s not my phone be can still use the books app to play other audiobooks.

Finally free means free. Says it’s free and it’s truly free. Yes the books are older titles but there are tons of classics. This app makes reading books possible for me and I love it.

No response from Audiobooks!. When I sent Audiobooks a notice that 16 out of 50 chapters in Dragonfly in Amber had not downloaded, I got NO response! I love this book and want to reread it but want the full book! 😢😢😢

Love this reader!. I’ve been a huge fan of Anne of green gables since I was a little girl. I feel like the reader really captures the glory of this book. I just wish she read book 2 as well.

Needs serious work. The current version must not be playing well with the current IOS update. Intermittently when it’s paused or I get a notification the player randomly goes to a prior point. I’m using an iPhone 7.

It's a good app but it doesn't have any really good books. This app is amazing and not confusing at all!! Unless you're a Harry Potter fan! then you'll be confused on why they don't have Harry Potter! I love the app but it doesn't have Harry Potter and that's just messed up! so to the app creators you really need to add Harry Potter! so i recommend this app to everyone..UNLESS YOURE A HARRY POTTER LOVER!! Great Audiobooks. I enjoy listening to audiobooks and this is a great app for listening to the classics. As stated in the app most of the books are read by volunteers. However, you can purchase some professional versions of the audiobooks.

App Crash Report. Every time I open the app, it allows me to operate it for a few seconds and then it begins to lag, then it freezes and finally the app crashes. Idk what the problem is, but I hope the developers can fix it.

GradeApp. The control is just inside the app, meaning if I am reading and the screen has been locked, I cannot play or pause or do anything! Otherwise it’s a great app

Uncle Toms Cabin. Great book, the title has been a part of American history but the story is far more important than just a term in our vocabulary. Easily one of the most important books ever written.

Crashes a lot. Every time, I use the app the books are always downloading even though they had already been downloaded previously. So while it’s downloading, a book would play for a couple of mins then crashes and starts over the audiobook. It’s very frustrating.

Excellent!. This app has the best audiobooks for free and also those that can be purchased. It doesn't get much better than that.

Recent update freezes. My rating of two stars should only reflect on the recent update. I have been using this app for many years, but since the update, the app freezes so frequently that it has become essentially unusable for me for some reason. I’m sad. Hoping for a resolution soon!

Review. I generally enjoy listening to audio books while lying in bed before I fall asleep. However, most of the Audio books I listen to come from the local library. The book that are on my phone are not that relatable to me. I am an African American and I find no romance,drama, comedy in these audio books. I find no African American narrators and basically no non fiction or fiction books in this library that I can relate to.

Not a good book app. I have been searching for this one particular book but it will not show up, the book is called roll of thunder hear my cry and that’s a book I need for school and if this stupid app doesn’t have it, most likely and 100% already known other apps don’t have it either I have been searching for it and no luck yet.

Best audio book app. This is the simplest and easiest to use audio book and it has a lot of free books from all genres to keep you entertained.

Spell binding. Surprise at every turn. I didn’t know where it would lead & was forced to keep listening. Really enjoyed the short story. It said a lot about where power will lead a person.

could be fantastic. this is a good app that could be made great. i love the collection of classics and old books plus the options of newer title. there are, however, some ofd glitches. the app starts playing by itself. i closed the app, still did it. deleted the book, still plays it from the lock screen. also, the play/pause via earpod feature has a glitch where it will pause at the first attempt, but not at the second or third. have to revisit the app to “reset” play/pause.
