Impossible to read article in the Washington Post. I am a paid subscriber to the Washington post. However, I like to read all my articles in a consistent form. I switched from Pocket to Instapaper several months ago because pocket I had trouble formatting articles from the Washington Post. I’m trying to give it another try new device. The problem is even worse. When I try to open a Washington Post article in pocket, I am presented with a sign in screen Washington Post, but no matter how I try to sign in and either fails or takes me back to my browser. Dealbreaker. Thank you for responding to my comments. However, you misinterpreted what my problem is currently it is that when I try to add a Washington post article, I get prompted to login to The Washington Post, but it will not return to the article in Pocket after I enter my login credentials. It takes me back to the web browser.

This app is ruined. They have completely destroyed this mobile app. I don't understand what compels developers to do this, but Pocket did it all right. They had a simple UI with a simple layout. You saved articles. You read or listened to articles. You deleted articles you read. It was simple. Now you can't swipe to delete articles. The tiny button to delete re-opens the article more often than not. It would take me hours to delete articles at this point. The tagging system is not visible on the screen due to being crowded out by the promotion, header, and search window. LOL you literally cant even SEE your tags anymore. Stepping back, the recommendations eat up a bulk of the genera layout now. A 'Home' section shows algorithmic pics. Pocket chooses 'hits' for you, and tries to behave as a social media/news aggregator. Literally no, I don't want your shock tragedy stories. This is amazing. These developers are unwell. Coming soon: unnecessary useless 'ai' features. Just watch. *Update: upon using the app again, as a early adopter, in the interest of objectivity, I should know to the team has improved the audio playback feature. It is more accessible and more intuitive to use. This was always a needed improvement, and the team appears to have done a good job here..

Much to love, much to be fixed. My favorite feature, by far, was text to speech, but it’s gone! I’m really happy this app is in active development but pleeeeease bring that feature back. I see it’s in the AppStore screenshots but it’s not in the app. A feature that’s being withheld while the kinks get ironed out? Please let us dedicated users know. Thanks! Oh and FWIW I’m a premium user and have been for many years. Update: after some hunting, I found the public beta and installed it through TestFlight - now the text to speech feature is back! 5 stars for making this available - a fantastic workaround for folks like me and it’s really great to have a public beta to test/use. Thank you Pocket Team!

Pocket A Broken App Since Oct 2018. This once was a serious app that allowed for much flexibility in how it was used. If you were taking a long hike, you could load hours of reading material for both eyes-on reading (when you were taking a break) as well as audible read-to-you content (for paying attention to the trail). This functionality was stripped many months ago. Now, if you’re not on the grid, forget such access. You must be connected to the Internet simply to read your saved articles. In audible mode, the text used to scroll with a highlight of what was being read. This is much how Kindle for iOS works when you have Audible content installed. It’s not particularly necessary for light reading. But for non-fiction, where there are names, and terms, and complex explanations, you may well want to stop the read-to-you mode and examine the text more carefully. This is now totally broken in Pocket. If you stop the audio you will be dumped at the beginning of the article. You’re now expected to scroll around attempting to figure out where you stopped the audio. Pocket doesn’t even provide a simple text search. This is so high friction that attempting this once or twice will dissuade you from ever trying to find the part of the article you want to read closely. It’s a fair app for consuming simple, short and unsophisticated material. But if you aim higher, Pocket will fail you.

Features removed - use the web app instead. The two-star rating is specifically for the iPad version of the Pocket app, not the service. I’m a Premium subscriber and have been for years. It’s one of the services that always seemed worth it. Given that major features of the app appear to have been removed, I almost decided to move to one of the alternatives suggested in other reviews (Readwise Reader, Matter, or Omnivore). I’m rating the iPad app 2 stars for its barebones capability, missing content, bugs (archived articles still show as saved), lack of highlighting, and more. But here’s why I stayed with Pocket as a Premium member: the web app still works very well, though it’s missing audio capabilities, but it seems to have all the features the iPad app is missing. So, with iOS 17 I was able to add the web app (go to the Pocket website in Safari > click the share button > select “Add to Home Screen”). Now I have most features back, including my full list of saved articles from the past 10 years, with permanent cached versions, as needed. Pocket works well with IFTTT (the others do not) and the monthly premium fee is the lowest of all the ones I looked at. So maybe don’t abandon Pocket but switch to the web version of the app.

Tagging Way Worse Now!. First off I want to say I love Pocket, have used it for years, and have never found a better “read later” app. That said, the latest update has very nearly broken the tagging system! I used to be able to go through and tag the day’s saves in a matter of minutes by batch tagging, and that seems to be gone - you can’t select multiple items to edit or add tags all at once, and tagging each item individually is much more tedious! Even on the individual items, tagging is now a major pain. It pops up the text box on top of the list of tags so you have to type the first one - you can’t see the list of tags at all! The space below the text box is empty - why not put the list of tags there more like it used to be? It used to autosuggest tags based on your existing tags and now it doesn’t. I do like the new filtering system and where that interface is going, but my goodness, did you have to bork tagging to get that?

Unanswered questions and unable to email developer. Before making this purchase I wanted to know if items were backed up somewhere in case something went wrong? I could not locate the answer. Do all saved articles have the ability to be read to you? I could not locate that I do anywhere yet you have a headphone icon. If only some can be read to you once saved which saved items can’t be read to you and why? I could not locate that I go either. Why don’t you have an email listed anywhere to email you? I could not locate your email for further questions even with an account! I can save all my articles to my desktop or file on my phone and save them there for free. Why do I need this service? Thanks. I had to ask my questions here…

Fix the email address problem; new issues. I use Pocket regularly, but can’t believe they’ve still been unable to fix something that’s been now broken for years. Before, if you wanted to share an article w a small grp of folks, let’s call them regulars, you’d just highlight a box/circle, click send and they’d get it. This functionality was removed more than 3 years ago. Why? I don’t know. When I contacted you guys you said you were working on it. From the evidence, you weren’t and you aren’t. Pocket is by your omission, much less useful and I share far fewer links than I did. I don’t like retyping addresses of regulars, so I rarely do. If this is your intention, you’ve succeeded. It’s still pretty good for saving most articles/links of interest, but clearly some sites seem to be designed/built to not be viewed enjoyed by Pocket users later. That’s their and our loss. Beginning recently (Oct 2019) Pocket’s gotten significantly worse. Now I can even the above, irritating technique. Now I have to open an email app to share. Great, yet another extra step. How is it your new, “improved” (sarcasm mine) versions get worse. I’ll continue to use Pocket, but I won’t recommend it. Since 2021 it’s become still less user friendly. I still use it, but, oh well.

Pocket makes life worth living. This incredible app helps me focus on great stories and spend my device-time in a more positive, constructive, productive and fulfilling ways. Scrolling through Apple News today left me feeling empty. So I hopped over to Pocket and read 3 stories that I had saved. One article I read, I’d saved from the Pocket content feed in the Firefox New Tab — THE reason to switch to Firefox is to get Pocket article recommendations BTW (and ALSO better privacy). On the bus today, rather than reading crap, or scrolling through attention-grabbing headlines on Apple and Google news, I read an article about the gut microbiome, the state of glaciers in Alaska, and an article for work. And I learned something. Pocket is my favorite first-screen app that keeps me from wasting time on Insta/other places...and helps me stay sane, get smarter, focus on the things I care about. 6-stars for Pocket. 😀

Crashes on opening - FIXED. UPDATE: the developer contacted me directly to let me know this issue is fixed, so I've updated my rating and am happy with the app once again. I appreciate the responsiveness and am so happy I can use the app the way I want to. I have used Pocket for years to store and read articles, and it has worked flawlessly. Recently I discovered the listen feature and was able to enjoy more content by listening when I wasn't able to read. However all of a sudden the app started crashing when invoking the read feature, and now crashes even on simply opening. I have deleted the app, restarted the phone, and redownloaded the app, to no avail. Reluctantly I'm now looking at switching to Instapaper. I'm loyal to apps that work well, but can't keep waiting for this to get fixed.

Can you just bring the old app back?. Seriously, how come an update can ruin the app this thoroughly? I reported bugs a few times now after the update, but they have not been fixed, and now I’m seeing bugs that make the app almost unusable every day, and I don’t have any more time or energy to write a detailed bug report. Many tags are not shown, search is broken (you search with a word in the title but result doesn’t show up), crashes several times every day. And archiving is messed up. You archive an article and other articles are archived with it. And the order of the articles in Archive is somehow mixed up all the time. Many of these bugs are hard to report because they have no fixed way to reproduce. Can you possibly just restore the old app? I can’t find a single thing that’s better in this new app, and this new app seriously makes me consider switching. I’ve been a pocket user for many years and get emails from Pocket that I’m in the top 1% by the number of articles read. But it’s really a breaking point. These days I mostly just use the Mac app, which works fine.

A good app ruined by a bad update. This used to be one of my favorite apps and I am a long-time premium subscriber (but not for much longer). The recent update ruined this app. What used to be a fast, easy process is now slow and glitchy on the mobile app. It now takes me twice as long to create a new entry. The tag search function is dumber than before and doesn’t show the more sophisticated results it used to. Good features were lost and unnecessary new ones added. Even the design is bad and looks like something from the first year of the App Store. It is all frustrating because the app WAS great. I rarely write app reviews because who cares, there is always another app, right? But this was an app I really liked and came to rely on. I have been a subscriber for years and now I may delete it. This was a mistake and you should at least offer the previous version to users who think you have lost your way. Also, what is up with the developer responses here, Pocket? Are you even reading these posts? Your responses reference issues not listed in the reviews and don’t address the points that are mentioned. Have you left customer service to a dumb AI? And your attitude toward your loyal, paying customers is despicable. I am looking for an alternative and will not be continuing as a subscriber if you don’t quickly wake up and deal with the issues you created. What a stupid waste.

Latest update is terrible. Been a user and lover of this app for years. I’ve happily paid for the premium account for years , but this latest update is really bad. Tagging articles is now much harder. After the update only viewing option of saved articles is in a list. The default viewing page when you open the app is their home page, not your saved content. And to top it off, the app is buggy and freezes often having to be closed and restarted several times before it works for a few minutes before freezing again. Really hope there’s another update coming soon to address these issues. This isn’t a case of complaining just because it’s new/different. I don’t think I’ve ever left a review on an app, but these changes are bad enough and have enough of an adverse effect on my use of it that I felt compelled to say something.

Best way to stay on top of your reading list. With pocket, I get to track my reading habits, ensure I always have access to the articles I tag - even offline during flights! - while also being able to find them in the future. I used to have trouble "losing" bookmarked articles, and never being able to find articles that I liked and wanted to share with friends. One cool thing I've managed to do is use external apps to move Pocket articles to Kindle. It works fine but I wish the app would have it as a native feature. Regardless .. Pocket solved the most aggravating issues I had. I've already recommended it to many people and will continue to do so.

SUPPORTED DEVELOPER FROM DAY ONE! WOULD’T GRANDFATHER MY ONE-TIME PAY VERSION!!!. Actually, I think Pocket is a great app , wonderful idea! But, I have a bitter taste for Pocket and Read It Later! When Pocket was initially introduced, I paid for the Premium version. All was well, and the app and I grew together. A year or so later, Read It Later decided to change its one-time payment setup, changing to the “hated” subscription payment method. Although I supported the developer from day one, Read It Later would not grandfather my Pro version! This, for all these years - through many associated email address changes for me - the developers treachery still makes my blood boil, I am visually impaired now and cannot afford all the money-hungry subscription plan apps. This is an app that I have always wanted to love, but the hurt gets in the way! I know it’s a great idea and a genius idea, but this is “jut another somebody done somebody wrong song!” Again, this app was fabulous back in the day. I keep the free version on my devices. Since the bad break-up, I haven’t used it fully like I wish. I want to use it! I steered clear of the “pay” version due to ethics. Now, it’s because my legally blind self can’t afford all these subscription apps! Just know, Read It Later that you offended and hurt me bad! I would love to give Pocket five stars, but I still feel too much hurt!Even so, RIL, best wishes to the app!

Great discovery- have the article read to you!. I love this app even more since I discovered the ability to have the article read to me. I constantly come across articles that I want to read but don’t have time to read it in the moment. This app allows you to save across all browsers and devices. The biggest problem I have always had with saving something to read later is the fact that I don’t return to actually read it because of time. But today I was up early and opened the app because I wanted to read an article that I saved yesterday and when I did this I noticed the headphone icon. I clicked the icon and it started reading the article. So today I was able to catch up on a dozen articles. Now I love this app even more.

Please fix TTS. This used to be among my favorite apps, but lately I’m using it less and less and using safari more and more because of the poor integration of text to speech in the latest version. This is an easy fix for the team, but here are the problems: 1) the integrated voice will not read all the articles which pocket will download. 2) Sometimes the voice is not available in these cases I have to use iOS TTS ‘two finger swipe’ from the top, but the layout of Pocket’s buttons on the top means that two out of three times, it takes me back to the menu, rather than reads the article! 3) while I like the feature of being able to continuously read multiple articles, I miss the ability to follow along the text as it’s being read. 4) it would also be a nice feature if it would indicate, if if it has been fully read or what percentage has been read in the past. It would be nice also to turn off the screen and treat it like a music play list while exercising. The bottom line is that without the ability to easily have Pocket read aloud, the app is much less useful. The spotty availability of the integrated reader and poor placement of buttons on the top complicate the use of the iOS text-to-speech is particularly frustrating, especially if trying to listen to something while walking or driving.

Got worse with time. ReadItLater, now Pocket, used to be my favorite read it later app. However, since the recent upgrade (more like a downgrade for me) to version 8, there are lots of functions that I used that are no longer available or don’t work right: Suggested Tags is now degraded to recent tags, tag entry doesn’t work correctly, font spacing and background color can no longer be adjusted, introduction of a Home tab that cannot be deactivated, no refresh option for articles… It is really sad to see that so many apps, now Pocket included, try to incorporate new things that are questionably useful but degrade the overall experience. I will not extend my premium subscription at this point, as I do not see the value anymore. I am sorry about this but for now, I am looking for an alternative or continue using the free version… :-(

New update, oh no.... Every time I sign on and see something new, meaning you guys did a new update, I shake my head like "oh no, what isn't going to be working now?" Like clockwork, now I can't add tags, at all. First off, as of yesterday, I could click on "add tags" and type a letter or two of the tag, it'd search and come up with the word, I'd click on it and be done. As of today, it doesn't search for the tag, so I put the whole word in, but can't click on "save", so there's no tag function working now. Of course this is only on desktop, I have no idea what you guys messed up on the mobile version. If you really wanted to "support" your customers "technically", you'd revert this app and program to the functionality it had 7 or 8 years ago, it just worked, everything just worked, perfectly, every update you guys have done since then has made it "look nicer", but everytime it breaks some other function that I used to love about it, then by the time that's fixed I'm just thinking oh no what isnt going to be working now, it’s a great way to lose customers

Great offline reader. I love being able to save articles for reading, especially when I take long flights were there is no internet access. The app does a great job of including graphics and tables from most articles and at the same time left out the ads. For some reason, it is unable to include graphics from a few articles that I found of interest. I can only assume that the internet page includes ads and may not be able to discriminate between an ad and an actual article graphic. This may likely be because of how some ads are peppered between paragraphs. I found this a little difficult when the article referred to an illustration that was missing. In any case, this is very nice app and highly recommend it.

Updates brings poor homepage design. Update: offline content almost never works anymore. These my be caused by website creators but it greatly lowers the value of Pocket for me. I have been a Pocket user for many years and overall greatly appreciate the product. I just want to give a warning sign to the developers that the latest version has a much less user-friendly way of viewing the continent I have marked to read and has a less friendly way of seeing their recommended articles. They seem to be moving away from the clean list based view that allowed me to easily interact with my Content and go towards what it first glance may be prettier with large blocks of pictures and text, but is actually more difficult to work with. Lastly, it feels that the recommended articles has lost their ability to target my interests. Not sure how that’s connected to the interface.

Life-Changing. A powerful organizational tool. I think both extremes of personality types would benefit—the type who needs organization done for them but also the type who can’t function without organization. As long as you take the time to create tags, keeping the articles organized is super fast. Then you don’t need your 10 different sources of articles in your life, only this one. As we are bombarded with new information not just daily but all day long, this is a complete necessity. You take each article you are interested in as you come across it, and simply hit your share button which will have your links to text, email, and social media, and will also now have your “pocket” icon. You share it to pocket, and if you have tags set up it’s even better to instantly organize. So then you won’t have to save that email anymore that told you to go to that link, you trash that, you don’t have to save a news article to your browser folders or to any news app, you won’t have to save any articles in folders on your social media apps. You can delete all that info in all those inboxes, and have all your articles in one place, in a format that removes all those annoying pop-ups! Then when you are at a better time of day (or at a later date), you can peacefully read all your articles in one place, grouped into topics you can pick to read as a group, whichever topic you feel like at the moment, all collected in one place.

Loved it before, now it’s garbage. I used to love using this app—I could save all the articles I wanted to read, sync across devices, and display in a nice clean article view free of ads. But after I upgraded to version 8, it went completely downhill. I lost a couple dozen articles I had saved. It doesn’t always sync articles across devices. Articles that used to display in the “article view” don’t anymore. And now I have a “ghost” article that can’t be viewed or deleted. It just sits there taking up space. Seriously guys, why even update it if you’re going to make it significantly worse?? If these things aren’t going to be fixed, I’m going to move on to some other app because the issues are almost completely eliminating the benefits I got from using Pocket. P. S. and now it keeps crashing…

My Favorite New App. I love this app! I had saved many items for later on Google’s Reading List, but I couldn’t use it on my phone because it wasn’t synced with my work laptop (and I couldn’t sync it since I’m not an admin on that laptop). This solved a major pain point for me and now I can save articles and videos for later from any device including my work laptop and choose to look at them from any device any time (laptop, phone, iPad). Now, instead of my reading list endlessly growing, I actually get a chance to check things out during breaks or downtime and I’ve already caught up on so many things I would have never done if I had to use my laptop.

New Update Did -NOT- Fix Issue. I usually love this app and have been in the top 1% of readers for years but since the last update it crashes every time I try to read an article or story. Makes it kind of hard to finish something when it keeps closing itself on you. :( Update: An update has been released however the issue of the app crashing every time I try to read something has not been fixed, if anything it has been made worse. In the last five minutes the story I’ve been trying to read has crashed FOUR times!! I can barely get though a paragraph before it closes on me. Please, please, PLEASE fix this issue!! At this point your app is now unusable. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that it used to be great until very recently...I’m not what you’ve done with it but please reverse it. Maybe it’s all the sudden ads for your premium pocket in app purchase that’s making it crash? Food for thought...

It’s nice, but could be so much better!. I’ve used Pocket for years now and subscribe to Premium. Overall, the app does what it’s supposed to; making for an excellent way of storing nearly anything for later viewing. However, I don’t understand the logic of having to click multiple things to share or recommend articles, adding to one’s favorites, or adding to a custom folder. It’s tedious! Instapaper has a button one can click to add to one’s “Likes” (favorites) list, as well as sharing the item to a social network, all with a single tap! Pocket could really use such a customizable feature to speed up the process of not only reading but also sharing things with others. As well as sorting content as desired. Some of the buttons in the article list are not properly labeled for VoiceOver accessibility. The Search and other menu options are labeled with a random set of characters, and have not been fixed after I’ve made reports to support about that issue. Lastly, the app tends to crash when browsing the Recommended list of articles. It’s one of the best features offered by Pocket, but again, reports of crashes have gone unanswered. That’s why I give this the lower rating. If Instapaper didn’t have its own crashing issues, I’d simply use that. But I believe Pocket is superior, but has these minor annoyances which actually add up to using additional time to complete simple tasks (IMO). Again, it’s nice, but could be so much better!

I shouldn’t have updated. I haven’t updated in ages, but I did recently, only to find that the top page is covered in useless recommended articles and saved pages are just a thin bar at the top. But tabbing over to the saved pages button on the bottom returns the saved page list. However, most importantly, I can’t seem to bulk delete saved pages anymore? In the previous version, when I long pressed a saved page, it would let me select multiple saves and then choose what kind of action I’d want to do to them, which is delete. But now, when I long press a page, the app crashes 80% of the time. When it doesn’t crash, it pops up a preview of th article with an edit button on the bottom, that says I can’t do that in this version of the app. How do you bulk delete pages now???? On top of that, deleting individual saved pages is annoying and busted too. To delete an individual saved page, I press the “…” option next to a save, then press Yes to the pop up to delete, but then the app sends me back to the top page that’s covered in useless recommended articles instead of staying on the saved pages list I was on????? Why did they ruin a workflow that worked before???? Why are they shoveling useless articles in my face? I mean, I know why but it’s frustrating to see a once handy app turn into user-abusive junk because they want to sell a subscription. Really disappointed and will switch to a new app instead.

Latest release broke some things. I’ve been a big Pocket user for years now and the latest release has made the app unusable for me. Because of a visual impairment, I listen to articles I've saved in Pocket. For those articles that the "Listen" function works, they now stop randomly in the middle of articles. I have not found a pattern yet. This second problem is my bigger issue. For those that do not work with the "Listen" function, I have used the two finger swipe down "Speak Screen" accessibility IOS feature and it would read the whole article. Now it stops at the first photo or ad. Certain media like the Washington Post or my local newspaper articles fall into this category, I assume because of how they are formatted. Because of all of this, I can no longer listen to articles in Pocket and hear the entire article. Please fix this!

One of my Top 5 apps. I don’t know how I ever lived before Pocket. I use it to save everything I want to reference later—whether it's a web article, product I might buy, or just to share links easily between my devices. It's one of the most useful services I have ever used. It really is the “Save button for the Internet”. Suggestions: - The UI in version 7 is a lot more spread out and has a lot of empty space, making the app feel “blown up” when viewed on the iPhone Plus. I prefer the more compact UI of the previous version. It would be nice if there was a setting in the app’s options to control the scale of the UI. I would prefer to see more articles listed with smaller photo thumbnails so I don’t have to scroll as much.

Amazing app with fatal bug. I LOVE this app. But after downloading it I get this recurring error message on my iPhone that says “Unable to download file.” This error repeatedly popped up a couple times each day for over two years. It doesn’t matter whether I click “Cancel” or “Try Again”. This error is one of the reasons I WIPED my phone entirely and didn’t transfer the apps and settings - because that just brought the error back. Instead I’m setting up manually and the error was fixed until I loaded Pocket again. I don’t think this is the app itself, I think I saved something to pocket that wasn’t the article but a download link. But it took me years to figure that out. I think the developer should help pocket detect when an item isn’t saving as it should, and either cancel it or give the user more info to help find the problem. Thanks

Wish I could read and listen at the same time.. Wish I could read an article to follow along while listening at the same time sometimes. This app has been great otherwise. Definitely has helped optimized news reads for me and now I consume much more constructively. So much news is happening all the time now I had been having news article ADD and not a good way of going back to a story I didn’t finish. Then I tried this app and have been super happy and much more organized. Maybe an update where you can read and listen so you can see graphs and visuals if you are sitting and listening anyway. I have always struggled to read for long periods of time so the listening feature was kind of what I was looking for when I found this app. Still it works well and I use it often.

Some suggestions. After many years of happily using Pocket, I’m disappointed by the new format. It is now clunky and flashy like a million other apps. The default vertical list of articles is now buried a couple of key presses away. “Delete” requires 3 key presses. The overall experience has become busy and tedious. Very old review: I love this app. I just want to offer a few suggestions: 1. It would be great to have bookmark, highlight, and notes features. 2. When the original webpage has a hyperlink table contents at the top of the document, the TOC disappears in the pocket version. In a long document the TOC and the hyperlink capability would be very valuable. 3. I'm not sure how to grab the scrollbar on the right side. Sometimes it works, sometimes not; it's inconsistent. 4. Conversion of PDFs would also be useful to make them more readable on a smart phone.

Update still needs a lot of work. Pocket used to be my favorite and most reliable app, however, since this new update rolled out, it has been frustratingly buggy. 1) articles no longer save my place, so now I have to scroll and find where I left off 2) I added a bunch of articles to lists on web but can’t see them in my app and also can’t remove them from lists without deleting them from pocket 3) pocket in browser defaults to web view instead of reader view. I wish the team had spent more time working out the bugs in this update and on common sense features (like making lists translate across platforms) rather than designing a flashy new home screen.

Great App. I’ve used Pocket for awhile now and so far I have to say that this app is amazing. It does it’s job and never crashes, and it doesn’t lag or have any trouble loading any articles either. I’ve seen other apps that offer this service make you pay for them. While this app does have a premium that you can upgrade too, the free version works perfectly. The articles offered in this app are interesting and fun to read as well. I have no complaints for this app whatsoever, as if I did, it would have less than five stars. Don’t take only my word for it however, download the app or read the reviews! There’s a reason this app has an “App of The Day” reward, it’s honestly perfect. I haven’t had any crashes or awkward send-offs since I’ve downloaded and used the app. If you figure out to not like it, that’s fine too, however I must recommend that you try it out.

Pocket - A wonderful app for capturing articles of interest. For months now I’ve been using Pocket to capture articles and stories of interest, primarily from browsers, either on my phone, my tablet, or my PC. The user interface to capture articles could not be more simple. I often find I do not have the time to read an article immediately, so I save it to Pocket so I can leisurely read it later on. This also saves me time having to look up the article since I might not even remember where I saw it. The other benefit is that Pocket removes all the annoying advertisements and links that distract you while reading. I also like the fact that Pocket organizes all of your saved articles in one place allowing me to print an article or share with a friend later on. I’ve shared my love of Pocket with many other individuals - all who have thanked me very much for sharing such a timesaving and convenient tool for capturing information of interest.

Major problem with tagging in the updated version. In this new stupa update, when you are tagging on iPhone pocket app, the text that you write doesn't automatically get deleted when you choose your tag. Instead you have to delete the few letters you wrote and start from the beginning. For ex, if I have 2 tags: Egypt; North-Africa. If I write "egy" the tag Egypt appears (filter out) I can choose it, now in the writing bar , I still have the "egy" written, I have to delete it manually before I start adding the "north-africa" tag otherwise I end up with "egynorth". This is very annoying. It might seem simplified you are using on tag, but I use pocket as repository for articles that I use in my research, so I add many tags, in this case, this small issue becomes a nuisance and time consuming. I also suggest you add the ability to write small notes about the articles one can save in pocket; that would make your app indispensably valuable for researchers.

We Saw This Coming With Subs. I was a Early user of this application and created reviews on the App Store for this application early on. Mysteriously has it all disappeared. There's no way I would ever pay $45 a year for a subscription to this type of service. I have no idea how to justify that. from the looks of it and as I suspected from the moment subscriptions became SOP app development has gone decidedly downhill in about 98 to 99% of all application developers. It's just easy money it does not inspire any real developments or even good quality ongoing maintenance. I don't begrudge anybody making a reasonable living doing what they're interested in and good at, but, shear demonstration in the real world, tells me that subscriptions are not benefiting and users, who pay the bills, whether by subscription or by one time fees. Please do away with subscriptions once, and for all. oh, and, I will be deleting this app once and for all which I have kept on my mobile devices for several years hoping out of hopes things might get better… Clearly isn't going to happen. See you later pocket.

much better than apple’s ibooks. i started off using apple’s ibooks for saving fanfiction that i really liked. i had been using it for 2-3 years and i loved that it could save stories as PDFs so that if the webpage was no longer available, i’d have a copy. recently, i updated my phone and a whole bunch of my stories were gone and i was so devastated because the webpages have been taken down ),: pocket is a nice alternative to ibooks because none of my files have disappeared! the only small thing i have is that the main interface seems so cluttered and i wish i could put my stuff into categories instead of tags because it looks cleaner and be able to merge different articles because i have multiple chapters of a story but i have no way of connecting them. all in all, pocket is a wonderful app! 💓

Love this app !. I really love this app, I use it constantly, I only wish it were cheaper. I’d be happy to pay $5-10 dollars one time for it but unfortunately the current subscription pricing scheme pretty much rules that out. You see, once you set reoccurring subscriptions they can run on forever, and that’s a real issue. I know several widows that I’ve spent hours with trying to stop them after their husband passed away. I’m not young anymore, thing happen and if I were to subscribe the subscription may run on forever since my wife is, to say the least, non-technical. So if something happened to me she wouldn’t have the slightest clue what’s going on, why are these things showing up on a credit card and have no idea how to stop them. Problems of re-occurring charges could go on for months, even years, so I can’t do it. So a sincere “Sorry” to the authors. I wish there were a direct purchase at a reasonable price, but it is what it is. I subscribe to the Wall St. Journal, the paper edition, I’d like to have the digital as well but the same issue exists. My wife understands a news paper and how to cancel it, digital, no way. But thank you for Pocket even without the premium app. I highly recommend it everyone as an essential tool.

Great “File Cabinet”!. Have found this to be probably my most used app other than Chrome. It has allowed me to save literally hundreds of web pages and tag them for quick future reference. No more searching for that one page I vaguely remember but can’t remember where from. Not only does it work from my laptop as a Chrome extension but also on my iPhone and iPad and they all automatically sync-up. I’m able to save directly from the Twitter app. My only other wish would be to make it work with the iTunes Facebook app directly. Have to open links in Chrome or Safari and then save, but that is only a couple of extra clicks to preserve an item I want to save.

“Podcast” tts function crashes more often than a Windows 95 PC. Pocket used to be my absolute favorite app. I used it constantly for the text to speech function, which made reading much easier when commuting or engaged in mundane tasks. Then the app had a soft relaunch where the focus was placed on turning articles into quasi-podcasts. I couldn’t have been more pleased, until I found how poorly the changes were designed. Without exaggeration, Pocket crashes at least nine times out of ten when I try to use the text to speech function. This is an app that worked perfectly fine in text to speech mode before the developers decided to make tts a central feature! I would happily give Pocket a five star review and pay for premium of it actually worked. It would be a great pleasure to retract this review of the developers could fix whatever is wrong with Pocket so I don’t have to open it with reluctance thinking “maybe I’ll get lucky and it will work without crashing this time” (as it very occasionally does). I wouldn’t be so annoyed if it weren’t the case of an app that worked perfectly becoming virtually unusable - at least insofar as how I use it - due to ostensible improvements. Please fix this app.

Indispensable Asset!. I don't know what I'd do without this glorious app. In a world of essential tools to organize, entertain and complete your life, I highly recommend the Pocket app in the top five of your infinite list of never-ending useful applications. I use it everyday. It's quite addictive! I organize countless articles, videos, bits of information from all over the internet in one easy to navigate and highly efficient place and the most important detail of all. The freaking app never let's me down. I can't say the same for a lot of the other apps. This one does its job and allows you to enjoy its purpose without bugs, crashes, or anything else that'll get in the way of your happiness. Great job guys! Suggestion to the creators of this wonderful app. If you ever decide to make any significant changes... Don't you dare. Create a second app and call it Pocket II. Don't mess with perfection. It's the demise of most great products. Ain't broke, don't fix it! Footnote: Any chance we can get a search and scroll feature on the widget, so we can locate links without going directly to the app?

Love it, with a few improvements. I love this app and have used it often since I downloaded it about two weeks ago. However there are two improvements that would make it a better experience. I use the app for research, so I add several tags to each article, for example, type of resource, subject, source, etc. I would like to be able to search using multiple tags, for example find all articles with tag “dog” and “study”. Also, I would like the ability to choose a different display name for articles, since sometimes the url shows up as the title and it’s hard to figure out which article it is. Also, I would like the ability to add a short description, for example, “Discusses how to train dogs faster.”

Great idea but multiple glitches. I absolutely love the app and solution for being able to listen to blogs that are worth listening but don’t have to read. Glitches: -the status on how far you’re in on listening to the post isn’t working (it’s always frozen on the beginning) or partially works if you press stop/resume inside the app. -the listening stage doesn’t get updated on the lock screen of the phone so you can t quickly glimpse how much you have left tot go. -if you hide the in-pp listening mode playvirw it won’t continue listening in the background and what’s even worse is when you go back to the listening view it won’t remember where you were but instead starts from the beginning. -the listening speed adjustment button doesn’t work seamlessly- sometimes you have to stop and adjust and then resume but it doesn’t adjust on the fly while you’re listening. -LinkedIn blog posts are not a supported format for listening. -some rare posts get clipped prematurely / the reader doesn’t accurately read what’s the end of the post. -there should be an option to automatically mark the posts as listened / move to archive as you move to the next. I hope these glitches get fixed as have been looking for such a solution and already a power user.

Used to be great. This used to be the best app for reading articles offline. It was one of my favorites, I used it every day. I used to download articles to read on the subway where there’s little to no signal service. Unfortunately, with the recent updates, every single article wants to be online to read articles now. Article view, where you could download articles for reading when you have no internet connection, seems to have completely disappeared - which makes the app almost useless for reading articles where there is no cell service or wifi. In addition to getting rid of article view, they got rid of the option of reading white letters on black background - which I really enjoyed, since I have some vision issues. I just deleted this app since the last update got rid of all the features I used most. I’m sorry to say good-bye, I used this app for years! Such a shame - if it’s working well, why break it?

Good, but loved the previous version more. This was a great app. I used it for years. I loved being able to not just save articles for offline reading, but to listen to longer articles & annotate & highlight to my heart’s content. With the latest update however, I can no longer have it all-at least not all at once. I can’t easily switch between listening to going straight to the text at that point to highlight a key phrase I just heard. And if I wanted to actually read instead of listen, I need to hunt for my place in the article. Maybe I’ve just been spoiled by the ease in which the old version allowed me to toggle between all these different ways to enjoy the written word. Will these features come back?

Tags functionality must be improved by far & "Save to Pocket" has disappeared. I'm a frequent user but I have always despised the tags feature. It is absolutely not convenient to use in terms of searching up articles simply by typing the tag word in the search bar. The search bar is only useful for searching words in the title of the article. I do not like having to manually rake through the countless tabs to find the one I'm looking for so I can find the corresponding articles. It makes zero sense to me why Pocket has not improved this over the past several years. Who wants a search bar that cannot filter articles according by tag words? That defeats the point of tags. That alone takes away two stars. It's been over a week since the "Save to Pocket" sharing function stopped working and I've resorted to saving them to my Bear or Evernote apps. Looking forward to this being resolved ASAP. Otherwise, great app. Just. Fix. The. Tabs. Search. Function. And fix the bug preventing users from saving to Pocket.

Brilliant. I normally don’t write app reviews, but this had to be my exception. This app is beautifully crafted, efficient, and altogether an absolutely wonderful concept. I used to have 200+ tabs open of articles I wanted to read but never had time, but now I can keep my safari tabs clear without losing any interesting things I wanted to read. I feel like this app was marketed directly to and for me, and it’s marvelous. My only criticism is not even one of the app itself; rather the ease of integration with Apple’s OS. When on Safari, when I click the share button, there are rows of different ways to share the article—the message bubbles of people I usually talk to, then the app icons of certain apps like AirDrop and Messages, then the specialized commands like copy and, in this case, save to Pocket. I wish that Pocket could be an app icon in line with AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Twitter, etc. rather than just being a command, as the commands are right at the bottom of the share screen so it can be a little difficult to click sometimes. Otherwise, I have absolutely no complaints. Simply a wonderful app. I absolutely recommend it.

Disappointed. Since four years I have complemented just about all my readings both work and leisure through using this incredible app. Although, I must say nowadays my overall usage of the app has taken a serious downturn like never seen before... I figured out go check similar apps and observe how they compare to Pocket in terms of interface and ease of use. I finally concluded this journey with my full unapologetic abandonment of the reviewed app and opted to use Feedly and Inoreader (RSS readers). If you wish, both of these app are free to download on the Apple store. My chief complaint directly has to with rigidity of interface, I think a more flexible interface should do the app wonders. I suggest adding a categorize feature to store arrays of articles based on a shared category without compensating the ease of use like the case is with the tag feature.

Latest update June 2023 - has broken audio. No longer able to adjust audio - offline voice options have been removed with the latest update. Instead of improving the voice offering you have diminished it. >> Audio is one of the main differentiators between Pocket & other apps. Please fix this. Oh & stop telling customers who are FURIOUS that “your IOS team is excited about the changes”. Well we’re not excited- we’re exasperated & it seems logical that the customer might be more important than the development teams’ ego. You need to fix: broken tags, broken audio, broken offline UI/UX etc etc. Basically get a manager to sit down & read the recent reviews for a Kanban boards-worth of fixes required because of the ‘update’. I have already moved to Instapaper from today: simply can’t use pocket properly anymore & I don’t have time to wait for a proper revision by the iOS team.., but I will keep checking for updates & hopefully return once you fix this horror show of an archaic update.

Formerly great app. I’ve been a subscriber and Pocket advocate for years. It’s lost the plot since version 8 a few months back. I can no longer highlight passages from articles, which was some of my favourite functionality. The app started crashing on every launch this week and it was only resolved by deleting the app entirely and reinstalling it. After deleting the app, iOS prompted me to cancel my subscription — I didn’t, but I think I will if the problems aren’t addressed soon enough.

Update makes tags hard to use. The new interface on iPhone to add tags to articles I find on my phone is much harder to use Hard to easily view saved tags. Would be nice is saved tags were listed alphabetically. Saved tags are obscured by recent tags (which I don’t want to see and do not seem to genuinely reflect recent tags anyways - probably because it is so easy to tap on them by accident thus keeping them in the recent list)

Great idea for an app!!. I really love being able to access the reading lists of the people I follow on Twitter. Such a great feature!

Pocket. What have you done to Pocket? It was previously both a joy and easy to use but now it is dreadful. I can’t find most of what I previously saved and navigating has become a nightmare not to mention how clunky even typing in the app has become. Please, please bring back the old format otherwise I will be forced to leave Pocket and find some other means of saving articles I want to save.

Notification. Just got back to using this amazing app again. Unfortunately the new notification when you save an article is just ridiculous. Please change it to the old one that took up a small part of the screen rather than the whole thing. It’s not too late to redeem yourselves!!

Great app, but please bring back paywall download support. Great app for free/public content but since over a year or so the paywall login download feature has been broken, please bring this back.

Hate Update. Sorry developers but what used to be a fantastic app for importing and storing my favourite recipes is now awful. I used Pocket for many years, raving about what a great storage app it was for recipes, to friends and colleagues. No more - no longer an efficient or easy to navigate app because of the changes to the interface. Very disappointing.

Suddenly discontinued the save via email feature. The save via email feature that I use the most has been discontinued suddenly without any previous notification. Get your data out before they paywall everything or shut down completely. Recommend just emailing yourself the links. Eventually something like chatgpt will provide the same and better functionality.

So convenient. My go to app for travels when internet access is not available.

Can improve on the listening function. This app had one of the most natural voices for text-to-speech. But it doesn’t work for some articles, including longer articles. It would be great if there is an option to break up longer articles so they are compatible with text to speech if there is no way to make sure all articles are compatible with listening.

App requires bookmark renaming functionality.. Perfect app in all other facets. For it to be useful however the app needs the ability to edit the titles of the bookmarks. When a bookmark is imported from twitter the bookmark is named as the tweet author, so you don’t know which bookmark is which.

iOS 14.6 Broke Pocket. No longer able to save links to pocket after the iOS 14.6 update. Great app before then, hope it gets fixed as soon as possible. Also APPLE - please stop breaking apps with iOS updates!!

Highlight missing. Be warned that the Highlight feature, something that people will be paying for premium to use, is not on iOS or iPadOS versions of this app. This isn’t clear anywhere unless you dig into a help article. This makes premium basically worthless for me, and I will be canceling my subscription.

Deleting article app crash (fixed). I was loving this reading app so much till recent patch that made the app crash whenever I delete articles. However, this got fixed by the latest patch! This app has again become my fav app on my phone!

Effortless organising of my reading. A terrific and easy to use aggregator for all my web-based reading. The smartphone app also permits the OS voice assistant to read aloud to you.

What happened!?. I opened up Pocket after not using it for a few months and the app is horrible now. It’s stuck on the dark theme (which matches my phone) but I don’t want that theme for reading using Pocket, it used to be independently configurable and I used to use the Sepia setting but that’s no where to be found. From memory it feels like almost all the options have been removed? We also need a setting to open the app to my Saves screen by default, I’m not really interested in what’s being pushed on the Home screen. Really disappointing to see such a great app jump off a cliff, I hope you can make it great again.

A step backwards for macOS users. Apple Silicon Mac users are being told to use the iOS app, because the macOS app was discontinued, but the share extension doesn't work for me, making it impossible to save articles from macOS Safari. Many emails with support did not resolve the issue. The app works fine on iOS but I need something cross platform. I've given up on Pocket and have started using Omnivore instead.

Version 8 lost customisation. Latest version is not good. Pocket used to be perfect. Now all font customisations are gone, with only two fonts, and which don’t save when you increase or decrease font size, or it swaps to the other font when changing font size. Buggy. Saves are not the first page anymore and it doesn’t remember where you were up to in an article when reading on a different device. Very disappointing - it was such a good app!

Great app, but some problems. It is so hard to find your friends on this app, there should be a search feature for this. Also you should be able to personalise your discover section more, if you want it to be more than just followers then at least let people pick categories that they are interested in

Great!. Pocket is the first one of these that I’ve continually used. Great to have all my reading in one spot and so simple to use. Highly recommended

A very practical way to read news. Pocket is a great app for storing online news for reading off line over a coffee break

Love Pocket. This is such a great app. You can save anything you haven’t got time to read until later. Wouldn’t want to live without it now, so helpful.

Tagging doesn’t work. Why do I bother trying to organise and save articles according to tags when the tags don’t save, or even attach to the articles I save them under?

Removed highlight and #tag functionality?. Perhaps I’m not seeing it in the redesign, but both these functions are very useful for keeping track of a large collection. Please bring them back!

new update less user friendly. great app and i’ve used it for years but the new update is considerably less user friendly - the tagging system has been great but now there’s no way to adjust the view settings to see all of the tags listed against each saved item. highly frustrating to have to go into ‘edit tags’ when i just want to see my items with all tags listed. reading articles on the app also looks worse now with the new fonts and formatting, italics are showing as tiny font instead of displaying correctly. disappointing update all around.

Stress Less. Pocket allowed me to stop relying on Facebook for article suggestions. As a result I quit social media with no fear of missing out. So much better for my mental health.

Used to be my go to app until they forced Firefox down our throats. Oh boy did I love pocket, used it daily as my go to app for saving links and articles. That is until the company decided it didn’t want to support Safari and tried to force Firefox down every users throat. I don’t appreciate app developers telling users what browsers they should be using. Moving to Matter now.

Big fan but now.... I love this app - it’s a great way to save articles to read later. However I’m no longer able to delete articles which is annoying to say the least.

As knowledge management apps go, Pocket is the best. As a consultant, I need to keep up with the constantly changing technology landscape. Pocket allows me to file and tag articles for later retrieval. I can read this body of knowledge on my phone or in a web browser where ever I am working. As I have been using it for some time there are a lot of articles in my Pocket!

Very useful for collecting stories to read later. I use it with a chrome extension (on desktop) to tag time to read stories in minutes, which makes finding the right story to fill the right gap of time very easy.

Returning customer. Since I learned Mozilla (Think Firefox) acquired Pocket I decided to use the service again. Mozilla are leaders in internet privacy and look forward to seeing what they do with Pocket.

Best App for online content storage. Pocket one of the best apps and must have apps that I have come across in recent times. Helps you store content and access it in place rather than having to store a link and access it later. Seamlessly syncs with all my devices and can pick up where i left it off. Lovely app! Awesome features! Kudos to the team!!

Loving it!. I often read articles of my interest and most of the time I would want go back and refer to it. Pocket is the perfect app for that no just to refer those articles, also to organise and categorize the articles, which makes it super easy. Keep up the great work.

Faithful companion of my learnings. This app allows me to use my commute time for learning instead of wasting my time on mobile games. Pocket in the morning when I’m fresh, video games in the evening to wind down

Slipping. Pocket has long been a good way to save articles for later reading (and easier readability with its ability to standardise formatting) across multiple devices, and one of the benefits of it was that it seemed to be regularly improved and updated. However the continuing and prolonged absence of the “site login” feature (which was always pretty spottily implemented when it did work, requiring a few tricks to get working with some sites) kind of knocks out a lot of the usefulness of the app and the platform. Given they don’t seem in any rush to either return this functionality or make it clear within the app itself that it’s gone, instead just leaving a dead option where it once was, using what was once a very useful app has become both frustrating and, ultimately, a bit pointless.

Version 8 is buggy. Since upgrading to 8, the vast majority of my tags do not work on the app. Clicking on them returns 0 articles but it still works correctly on the website. Please fix.

Just bad. I wanted to support Firefox and I tried to love this app but it is just bad. 1. The design is cumbersome and intrusive. I want a reading app to have a calming minimal distraction-free interface, this is the opposite, busy, clunky and annoying. Login is a mess. Tag management is awful. Worst of all the recommendations are constantly in your face and can’t be disabled. 2. Buggy. The interface often lags and glitches. Automatically generated article titles are often meaningless and can’t be edited. Even the core functionality goes wrong, I’ve had completely the wrong article come up when reading a save. 3. Lacks features. No way to add notes. No way to edit titles. No in-page text search when reading. It’s sad, Pocket used to be the best. Firefox needs to get their act together. Instapaper is better in every way, I recommend checking it out instead.

Great tool. I love being able to save web articles to read when offline or listen to later. It would be a great feature if Pocket could enable listening to all articles without a break so that we can listen to them when driving. Currently, it is not friendly to ‘hands free’.

Pocket. A great app to read subjects of interest. Save to your phone and read while waiting at the GP, late arriving friend, coffee alone, etc.

Best App. My Favorite app. I deleted instagram and facebook and realised there was a lot of time that needed to be filled, and I wanted something interesting, informative and engaging to replace the scrolling that was so addictive and this has been the best thing for that! Interesting article after interesting article! I hope the app grows and expands as it is great

Doesn’t work. The “Match System Theme” option never works. It hasn’t since you launched it and then updated the app 2 or 3 times. Everyday I have to manually toggle the setting to make it switch. Also, your share extension does not work on iPadOS. I have to copy links and enter them manually. Why is this app so broken now?

App loses buttons after I share an article. The new face of the app is great. And I love the app itself so much that I’ve been using it for a very long time now. However, currently there’s a bug where, after sharing, the page loses all the icons or buttons. What is left is just the page to read and scroll up and down. You need to close the app to be able to share the article a second time around.

Simply the best. I've been using Pocket since before it was Pocket and it is simply the best bookmarking app out there. I use for storing and sorting articles I need for my work and I find it incredibly easy to use and reliable. I've used them all, but Pocket is the one I've stuck with.

A Very handy app, a suggestion tho... It’s what I have been looking for all this time. One thing I would appreciate Pocket doing is to have the ability to review who actually follows you (whether that be via Facebook, contacts, Pocket itself etc) as atm I don’t believe there is any privacy options. I feel this is important, thank you 👍

Top app. Pocket is easily in my top few apps. Have been using it for years! Simple way to save reads for later from all sources.

Absolutely devastated - my fav app destroyed. I loved Pocket so much. Note the past tense. But now? NONE of my saves open in article view - even those articles I *know* previously opened in article view. This also means I cannot access ANY of the highlights I’ve made. And where on earth is the “Bulk Edit” function, so I tag multiple saves? Seriously, how could your “new & improved” app go *this* wrong?

Easy app for bookmarking. I use pocket as a kind of bookmarking app both for read later and long-term references I want to keep. It’s my default for bookmarks.I don’t like the desktop redesign to be honest but the functionality works well for a relatively simple task.

A great way to save and store written material. I use and have used Pocket for quite a few years and I wouldn’t be without it. When I browse the net and see articles I don’t have the time to read , I save them to Pocket to read later. In addition Pocket makes the print and set out of the article more pleasant to read.

Great short stories. Really terrific short stories of interest that one can save & read on those occasions when you take five or ten minutes for yourself to immerse oneself into items of interest and learn from the read. So try it, it’s worth the time and the ability to read & form an opinion on stories you have saved, great product.

Love recipe saving!. I love Pocket for saving recipes, has worked very well for me for the last 3 years but lately if I add something when I go to find it, it is not saved...and sometimes it doesn’t show anything I’ve recently saved until I use search bar ...I now check after saving everything to make sure it is there, sometimes having to save up to 3 times for it to register. This is a recent experience, up until now it has been very easy to use and reliable.

Version 8. I turned on dark mode on my phone, but I was reading in light mode because it's better for long reads. bring back the possibility of choosing our mode directly in the application rather than automatically taking that of the device. People navigate their phone with their thumb. You should bring the buttons to delete or store an item to the bottom of the screen so that you don't have to reach up to the top of the screen to reach it. This is very impractical on large phones.

Love Pocket but jeez, such a bad update!. I pay for Pocket and badly want to keep it as my go-to iOS reading app, but this latest version is so buggy and *such* a hassle — my place in an article isn’t preserved across devices now, highlighting is gone now (just for now, but…what? why!?), and article display settings are now limited to font and font size and that doesn’t even work. Why rush this release out before it was ready? I’ve never had such a bad experience with an app update, and I really don’t get it.

Broken. Devastated. Used Pocket for years. The update (8.08) is broken for my iPhone XS. I can’t log in. Support stopped helping. I guess I have to try Instapaper. I wish I could download the links for everything I had in there.

No stars of I could. Mysteriously logged out this morning so logged back in. Search for my articles by tag and getting no results when I viewed the articles yesterday. Log out and log in again. App is loading for over an hour. Delete/reinstall the app. Loads now but still no search results by tag. What are you guys doing????? I’m tired of this!

Unusable for now. App crashes on saving link from Firefox. Sent crash report to the support email with bug description. Will update review once fixed.

Newest update is a bust. I’ve been a Pocket user for years and always loved it’s simple functionality. Latest update will not show any new stories (for many weeks now). Please fix!

8.0.0 regresses a few functionalities... 😕. Since 8.0.0, I can no longer paste a link in the app (I cannot use the iOS Share Extension in some apps). Only workaround is to save using try he web app. Also, it no longer saves my read progress/location on long articles for example.

Saved articles tags, favourites….missing. Long time premium user, thousands of articles saved. Since upgrading to version 8 (currently 8.1.0) and several hangs/crashes while searching/scrolling/saving, only a small subset of tagged articles or favourites are now listed. I can still find these articles by text searches, but then what is the point of tagging? Tried deleting the app and restoring, no improvement.

New app version (8) destroys the app. I’ve been using pocket since as long as I can remember. It was great so far. The recent app version, stripped Pocket of basic viewing settings. You can no longer have white text on dark background, which hinders story readability. They removed a ton of fonts that existed there for a long time. It’s a shame that a long-existing product like that is starting stripping features and limiting user experience.

New update tagging is not good. A single tag is fine but multi tagging is slow with the keyboard closing between each tag. Was fine before not sure why it was changed

Widget no longer working. I’ve been using the app for a few years. The most recent update has been a disaster. The UI is bad, and the widget no longer works. Would appreciate it if a fix was implemented asap.

Just found Pocket 👍😻👏🏻. Just found/used pocket and it is fantastic! Can’t wait to use it again on a regular basis 5 out of 5

Getting Worse. I’ve been a paying member for premium since they started it, but now I’m looking at alternatives. Each release seems to bring more bugs: sometimes articles won’t parse the first attempt but do the second, tag suggestions have gotten less useful, and articles that you archive don’t disappear from your list until you refresh. In addition a major usability issue has remained since the redesign : it takes 5 taps and lots of scrolling to change the sort order.

Version 8 ruined the product. Premium account user for years. Thousands of articles. Mainly to listen to articles - text to speech. Latest release doesnt allow me to choose article and then listen. I must choose listen mode and then scroll available articles which is useless if you have been using app for years and have thousands of articles. Terrible change. Change it back to allow me to select listen after i have selected an article. Unbelievably it seems most of my tags are gone. Brutal. Also Searching seems to not work properly any longer. Things i know i saved recently dont turn up even when i use a keyword that would be relatively unique to the target article. Without these features working i will likely have to see an alternate product. Hopefully the migrate data feature works!

Latest update = TERRIBLE. And now just crashes Pretty much every change you’ve made with this update is a bad change. I used to be able to use your app minimized which meant I could listen while I did other things – but you can no longer do that. I used to be able to choose from a list of different voices, either male/female or with varying accents, and I had selected the one that I liked the most – but now it defaults to I have no choice you’ve selected it for me and that’s it I used to be able to manage all my articles and delete in bunches, but you could no longer do that as it constantly takes you back to the main screen and you have to delete one at a time I used to be able to play a bunch of articles in sequence, and now that no longer seems to work either I used to have at least a few options on how I wanted to view and organize my articles and account but now I basically have none In short, there is not a single change that improves my experience, but many that have reduced my use of this app by over 50% And I expect I will eventually stop altogether as this app has lost so much functionality

Just gets worse with every release. Used to be perfect, but someone decided perfection is unacceptable. Features lost with version 8.0.3: - App badge count - Ability to highlight - Ability to listen to an article that was opened for reading - An intuitive user interface (e.g. you have to tap on Saves & Archive icons to reveal what they are) I’ve been a premium customer for years but can’t stand these silly changes that take away the power & simplicity of this app. I hope common sense prevails and these UI gimmicks are reverted soon.

Still not syncing properly. Ipad version still not syncing properly. Delete button only works sporadically. Very frustrating

Disappointing and frustrating update. I've been a heavy Pocket user for years. This newest update has ruined my saved entries and ruined Pocket for me. The vast majority (99%) of my saved entries have lost their tags. Before the update, every single save had an associated tag, because throughout the years I made sure this was the case. To make matters worse, when I try to add a tag it appears and then disappears. No tag is actually recorded. This is for both my archive and list. The Pocket team should be deeply ashamed for this awful release. What a joke.

I used to be a happy user. I used this app for many years and was a happy user. I paid for premium. But then the quality went down. My position in articles I read was lost every time the app restarted. This was a bad user experience especially since I read long articles. Even though I filed bug reports about this bug several times, it was not addressed. I now use Instapaper. It doesn’t have all the features, but at least it remembers my position.

Just don't like latest change in UI. I used to love it but lately they changed the interface too much (could have been smoother, transparent- it just is not , few times I just want to listen to what I captured and it's not obvious to find it !! Plus it gets slower to refresh new content updated (more than minutes :( Haha, well, don't update yet !!! Regards

Unfortunate update. Pocket just went from indispensable to unusable. What a bummer. A classic example of dont fix it if it aint broke. Wish there was another way to give my feedback other than a bad review.

Only seems to work with Mozilla products. Does not work with brave on iPad. Officially uselessly app. Delete deleted.

Super handy. Sooo handy!! Thk u!

Loss of functionality. Pocket 8 is a huge disappointment. Highlighting is *the* main reason I use Pocket, and now this feature is gone in the iOS app. Unlimited highlighting is a paid-for, premium feature. I would have expected this feature to be prioritized over superficial design changes. It appears that Pocket/Mozilla does not respect their paying customers.

Please bring back access to older versions!. The update is terrible. The pocket app has just gotten so far removed from the simple offline reader that i have used for so many years. The last update was annoying. I now have to clock through options to actually find my reading list. Which is strange for an app that is essentially a reading list. And now my favourite app is no longer usable on my ipad. My iPad that i use primarily as a reader. Books, Kindle, Hoopla and every other reading app still works beautifully. I’m sad to get rid of my fav, but it looks as if I’ll need to move my years of saved articles from pocket on to a new app.

Missing features in new update. Low information density in new update with no options for better density. Can’t view tags in archive anymore.

Crazy how good the recommendations are. This app always has such interesting stories that I swear it seems to know me way too well. I’d say it must be spying on me, but I know it isn’t because Mozilla makes it, and they don’t do that.

Very disappointing redesign. I’ve been using this app extensively for over 5 years now and it has never disappointed me as much as this new update has. The list redesign looks clunky and too big, the opposite how compact and easy to use it was before, and it’s almost harder to use now. I understand wanting to put more emphasis on the audio aspect of the app but moving the options and tags list (something that should be more important than an audio option) to the bottom not intuitive as claimed, but more confusing. And when viewing articles, I much preferred the previous view where saving and archiving webpages was much easier and certainly more intuitive with the older and more classic icons. Searching worked better before where it automatically searched through the saved pages as you typed rather having to type out the entire thing and searching to get results. On top of that, this update comes with many bugs: mass-editing pages while looking at search results simply doesn’t happen and in the normal view, mass adding multiple tags just don’t work sometimes, forcing me to tag pages individually. And if I add tags to a page while I’m reading it, they don’t show up when I return to the list until I refresh. Having used iPhones for 8 years now, no update to any app has me so desperate to return to older versions as this new Pocket update has; these new updates have me actually researching ways to undo them and return my app to an older version. Excluding the bugs that I have mentioned that need to be fixed, an option to return to the old theme at least would be much appreciated.

Missing Shortcut. Please re-add Share with Pocket shortcut.

Used to be great. The update is just horrible!. No tags, the recommendations have gone from one good article out of ten to zero. I used to love the app but it’s going downhill fast.

Buggy and getting worse. In the last couple of months it crashes frequently and fails to sync. Since I wrote this it has gotten worse. Tried the premium version for a month to see if there was a difference. There was not. The experience on the app and online is getting really bad.

Great Facility and Features; just wish it had .... Great facility, usability, and features. My only criticism is Pocket initially offered/showed many articles from which to choose, but now (after several weeks of use), it only offers a handful (e.g. 4 or 5) of articles to choose from, and sometimes JUST ONE!! If it wasn’t for this latter shortcoming (which is quite serious), the rating would have been 4 or 5 stars.

used to be good; getting worse. the app stopped loading my new saves. i had to delete and reinstall to get it to work again. furthermore it is getting worse at recognizing and saving articles in article view. and don’t bother with tech support—it’s bad.

Fraud like all the rest of these video saving apps. It tells you it will save video so you may watch them offline, it's a lie, the moment you have no conection you cannot see any of the saved videos... its just a cheap search engine like the rest of them.

V8 update removed the formatted view. Where is the formatted view? Now all I see is for some site is a bunch of text with no paragraph separation. This really reduces readability.

Needs a widget!. Great recommendations, but needs a widget for iOS

Pay online for web app. They keep deleting my honest review here, but if you want Premium fonts, etc., this app is done. Readwise Reader app is too hot for my phones. Omnivore is lightweight & free; though RSS & readable PDF has a ways to go.

A Really Great Thing. I have been using Pocket for a long time. I find it very useful, interesting and worthwhile. It helps you organize all the articles you like so you can easily access them. The site deserves 5/5 stars, in my opinion.

Terrible Update. While the refresh makes the app look more contemporary, the app breaks tagging (they disappear right after adding). And you can’t batch edit or tag anymore. The menus are oddly ordered (Delete right above Add Tags?). And also odd… why such a emphasis on archiving? Seriously not a fan of the 8.0 update. So much so, I am considering alternatives.

Unimpressed. Your recent changes to the UI aren’t really improvements.

Can’t say I love the new updates. The scroll bar does not work since the update. Also, missed the variety of language support in the old version even if it sounded less natural.

Time to unsubscribe?. Forcing all your mac users on this surrogate app makes switching to another service much more appealing. What's your plan Mozilla? We pay for the pleasure of reading, if we still need to use a web brower than what's the point? Overall disappointed. Pocket was great, it did one things and well. Now that is Mozilla, I can't even tell what it is anymore. A social network? A sharing platform? WHAT?

Such a variety of articles. I have been enjoying pocket for awhile now. I love how much variety there is . As well the many different sources of media. It’s like having a magazine/ news stand at your fingertips.

Médiocre en français. Je voulais aimer cette application mais les voix en français sont carrément agaçantes. Inécoutable. Le débit est beaucoup trop rapide, et aucunes intonations naturelles. Très dommage.

Terrible update. Love the app and been using it for years, but the last update is terrible! Bad UI, and widget no longer working! Please fix…

Problem with listening to articles. I used to be able to listen to most articles. Now only a few articles can be listened to.

Newer version is SO disappointing. Newer redesign is SO disappointing. The whole summer has passed and the app is still not updated to its old functionality… Note for developers: - CAN’T display YouTube videos in external PIP window and horizontally like before - YouTube videos are full of ads and only play in portrait orientation - CAN’T select video links ONLY like before - CAN’T see any articles saved to Pocket from Bing app and its news feed - Would be nice if users can allocate maximum memory upload for mobile devices and store the rest of data on the cloud or primary device. - Search function needs improvements since it still struggles with more than one word queries. - It would be great if there were more search tools as in: search by date, images, omission of certain keywords… Please bring back the old functionality.

Pocket hates old iPhones?. Apparently it requires iOS 16, but I've had it for ages and my iPhone 7 can't even run iOS 16 yet pocket is fully updated and works perfectly. Sounds like a scummy advertisement to say "buy a new iPhone or you lose access to this service you've committed to using". So what's goin on? Teaming up with Apple to help the software side of planned obsolescence? If that's the plan, can we get a "lite" version without unnecessary bloat and pointless extra feature stuffing, that works with old devices?

Delete Doesn't Work. Delete isn't working in article menu. It's way too hard to delete articles; I resent having to dig into Hamburger menu to find the delete button, then get a confirmation dialog too! It should be easier to delete things; I save a lot of articles, and it would be nice to not have to swipe up and down and dismiss dialogs to do that.

Buggy. It constantly loses my list of articles leaving only the two or three newest saves. It has deteriorated a lot since becoming part of Mozilla. Do better.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Update Ruined Entire App. I previously loved using this app because it was so user friendly, especially when you wanted to save, correct or update a previous tag. But now it doesn’t bring up previous tags when you want to tag a new article, nor does it keep the old one in full view for you to edit, so you are blind to what you are doing, and when you go out of it, because you don’t recall the original tag name, it automatically deletes the article without even hitting the delete icon. Ugh! What a messed up app. Why do developers feel they need to improve on something that doesn’t need improving on? Now I hate the app and feel I wasted my money for a prime subscription to save and archive tagged articles. Bottom line, it’s very hard to save new articles or tag/edit old ones. 😩

Improve Manage Site Logins. I subscribe to many news sources such as the WSJ, NYT, Economist, etc. I like using Pocket to save the articles I find most interesting because I love using the highlighting feature to retain information I find valuable. However, some publications such as the WSJ, I’m not able to login. Therefore, I can’t use the reader view to highlight information. I reached out to support/feedback via the official pocket site but didn’t hear back. If this feature is improved upon, I will update my review to 5 stars. I hope pocket is able to accomplish this. If not, I will cancel my subscription and move to a different offering like Instapaper.

What an Update!. A couple weeks ago, I switched back to Pocket from Instapaper after a few years use of the service, and ultimately subscribed to Pocket Premium bc I’ve needed a little help with tags, and bc dark mode. Plus, supporting Mozilla is tops. I can’t say enough how happy I am with the most recent update. I had wanted a darker dark mode, and sleeker design that helped me get around faster. I had no idea I wanted the text to speech audio narration, but it very quickly became my favorite thing, and makes me firmly believe in my choice to subscribe. What a fantastic product.

A long time favorite but some suggestions.. I’ve used Pocket for a few years now, either browser based or as the app; it’s a great app and service with a lot of functionality. However, I do have a few recommendations that might make it more navigable. Folders/collections - it would be great to have the functionality to create folders in which to sort stories and items into, rather than just tagging items. Highlights - I love that they have this as a feature, but as it is, all the items you highlight seem to be collected onto one long list, rather than a more manageable system, if you use highlights a lot. Perhaps a way to ‘collapse’ highlights under a given story? Or further methods to sort them. Social Connectivity - it would be nice to be able to add friends on other services than Twitter (I don’t use twitter anymore), such as Facebook, or phone contacts. Overall it’s a great app and I will continue to use it for a long time.

Another Perfect App Ruined. I’ve been using Pocket for years. From the beginning, it was one of my favorite apps. It was a pleasure to use. There have been some previous updates that I was not crazy about but it still functioned. Now it’s totally ruined. Totally. Ruined. Haven’t you people ever heard of the adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” Why did you make it more difficult to use? I don’t get it. It’s virtually impossible just to adf a tag to an article. It used to be a simple swipe. Now I have to go searching and when I find the menu and attempt to add a tag I can’t get the keyboard out of the way to see what I’m typing most of the time. I don’t even get that far because the app freezes. It’s infuriating. I’m going to have to shop around for a different bookmarking app because this one is unusable.

I love reading again. I love this app so much. I use it a lot and I’m constantly saving articles from the emails they send out because they tend to be great food for thought. It’s an excellent way to start reading more, if you’ve made that a personal goal, or just to learn something new every day! My other favorite feature is NO ADS. The page is clean, so it’s just you and the article. It’s helps me retain the info better and to focus on what I’m reading when there aren’t all those ads vying for my attention. I can’t recommend this app enough; just download it!

Good, but needs improvement. Pocket is fabulous for saving and tagging articles, which can then be searched by tag, or (for $5/month) searched fully. Article text is often saved on your device, but not always, so if a link goes stale, an article may disappear. The app needs a way (1) to flag clearly that an article’s text has not been saved on the device, and (2) a way for the user to manually dump in the text. These aren’t the only features that might be added; the authors have creative opportunities that they seem to be squandering. The last feature update was in mid-2021. This app is good but may be dying on the vine.

The Sad Tale of a Longtime Pocket User. I have been using Pocket for ~10 years now without any issues. Pocket recently switched to a subscription model and as part of that I cannot access any of my historical saved articles. No warning or indication of this was communicated out. 10 years of saved material down the drain. Thanks Pocket team. I, along with many other users, will be abandoning the platform across all the devices that I have it integrated on. Bookmarking has always been a thing and Pocket was just a better substitute to this. Paying $4.99/month to have a better UI to bookmarking articles is bonkers to me so I will be reverting back to that.

Disaster update. I’ve been using read it later/pocket for a long time but it’s clear they don’t want to keep people like me or they didn’t check their product before this latest release. I regularly open one archived article for reference. It’s tagged and favorited. I can’t even find it now. The tags don’t work properly anymore. The suggested articles are annoying but it’s been there a while. It was secondary and seemed like the way the developer made money. Now it’s too prominent. Plus no audio reader anymore? If this app does not do the basic functions like sort my articles so I can read them later and also takes away bells and whistles and then makes it hard to navigate, what is left? I’m expecting a major fix here in the next upt. If it doesn’t happen, goodbye pocket, it’s been nice knowing you.

Buggy as all get out. Very hard to used. Articles fail to sync and vanish, I have to keep recreating tags, and the UI is finicky and sometimes bugs out bad enough I have to kill the app and restart it. Good idea horrible execution. Shocked it has so many good reviews – maybe it’s the latest version, or maybe there just isn’t a better option. About the only thing I find worthwhile versus Safari’s reading list is tagging, so I can mark things as research, etc. Pocket’s recommendations sounds nice but this far it has never recommended something I actually want to read so… meh. Also, the Mac OS/X “save to pocket” applet for Safari no longer works (as of Ventura 13.1, anyhow). It hasn’t been updated in years, and doesn’t support M1 Macs. Look elsewhere… or just use Safari’s reading list.

New Release is worse. Two things that were really valuable in the last version no longer work or are available. First you can no longer do bulk edit to delete a bunch of stories that you have just read or listed to. This means that you have to delete them one at a time. Now I can’t even listen to the stories because the text to voice feature is crashing on both my iPhone and iPad. At this point it no longer does what I need it to do at all. If they don’t fix it in the next release I’ll probably just delete my account and move onto the next option.

Intrusive dark pattern in the latest version. I got a huge green block of pixels on my list now advertising premium. Only this huge block of pixels is MASKING an article in the list: you tap the green space, carefully so as not to tap the upgrade to premium link, and you get to the hidden article. Dark patterns are not how you get me to be a premium user, and $5 a month for small upgrades is a very tough sell ($1 a month is the most I’d pay), especially when we live in a world where I’m expected to maintain a separate $5-20 a month subscription to all my newspapers, all my media content, even my RSS reader. Pocket is nice, but its competition is a web browser’s bookmark folder and the readability-clone now packaged in many web browsers by default. That being said, I’d love to support the devs since I do use the free version daily, but $45 a year and dark patterns otherwise are not how you win over user support.

Big fan but I miss page-flipping. I love this app. Except for a few glitches with downloading longer or adult articles, it’s excellent and has been on my phone for years. Last year I didn’t do much reading, but now I’m back and missing one of my favorite features. Page-flipping used to be excellent, but now I find it frequently cuts off a line or two at the transition spot at the bottom of the page. This is frustrating and I’d love to be able to use that function again without immediately turning it off because I missed a line. However, besides that it’s a great app and I love it so much.

Great and simple app. The app I use most.. I used Pocket across all technology. I have it on my mobile phone, tablet, personal laptop, and work computer. iPhone allows for quick saves across the OS and Chrome desktop extension works great for quick saves. I love that I can save something for later reading or reference without getting distracted from my immediate task. Also, the “Listen” feature is great for a “radio like experience”. Only recommendation for improvement would be screen staying on indefinitely with app in use rather than dimming.

When you think it can't get better!. Simply, Pocket used to be my favorite app and the most useful one. I don't remember a single day that I didn't use it. I was extremely satisfied by it and recommended it to almost all my friends. I thought it was perfect the way it was but I was wrong! The new added features transferred it from being a personal experience to a social one which magnified the usefulness of it and made it much easier to share what you like with your friends. Thank you for a great experience and looking forward for your next innovative update.

Current update RUINED a great App. The most recent App update is terrible. The simple intuitive Home screen is now a busy awkward mess with an awkward user interface and push stories I do not care about right in the middle of the page... even just deleting is now a 2 action mess and sometimes the ... Delete function is absent until after credentials from a content source are entered, which is not what I want to just delete something. The Help and Support page offers the suggestion that we use their web page while they work to restore popular App features. So I will just delete this App and suggest the Apple Store editors remove their endorsement and all prior ratings as this is no longer the App it used to be.

Really Disappointing Update. I’ve used and enjoyed Pocket for a good while now, for its intended and promoted main function; which was storing various articles and items collected from a wide range of sources. However, for what can only appear to be economic reasons, that usefulness has been greatly diminished with the most recent ‘improvement’, as the app now insists on focusing on editor picks by not only filling the Home Screen with them, but returning to same every time you move among items in your own saved library. And to add to the obstructionist bent, one’s list of tags doesn’t even seem to adhere to any particular alphabetical order. Just an unfortunate instance of intrusive advertising obliging a user to look elsewhere.

Really Convenient. I’ve used Pocket now for the past 4 years and boy is it convenient! Whenever I see an interesting article I simply press the share button and choose Pocket, and (after opening the app at least once to let it sync) I can read it later while on the bus or in a car all without a cellular connection! My one gripe however is that you cannot manually trigger a download for individual articles, you can only change the global setting which applies to ALL your articles. (In Pocket’s settings “Fetch Article” or “Ferch Web View”)

Can now save articles to it. If you can’t save articles, try updating iOS itself! Doing so restored my ability to save links in Pocket by sharing to it from other apps. Old review: I used to save articles from all kinds of sites via Safari, Apollo, and Twitter, but with the latest update, Pocket no longer appears as an option in iOS to share links to. I also can’t find a way in the app itself to directly save a link. This is the only thing I use it for, bookmarking articles for later reading. The app is now useless and I’m looking for a replacement.

It’s always the little things that count. I’ve been using Pocket pretty nonchalantly for the past six months or so, and I’ve come to realize that it’s had a positive impact on my day-to-day life. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I always find an article that Pocket recommends that helps me to take stock of what’s really important and break out of that feeling to get on with my day. There’s just too much information out there to sort through, but a quick, five-minute read on a topic that’s valuable to me can make a big difference in how I go about my day.

Conflicted as the subscription ruins this.. No doubt this App is clever, organized well, and is a moderately better version of other “content saving” apps. BUT the subscription is downright expensive and honestly not at all worth the price. A option to buy features upfront, and charge for more new additional features is much more appealing. I totally understand why developers (and Apple encouraged) want reoccurring subscriptions - easy money to charge people (what they think are) small amounts that they don’t notice but when everything is a sub it gets out of control. Unless it’s Netflix (or massive amount of actual real content), it’s not worth a subscription, notable on an App. My advice, if you want to make this last, consider another way of monetizing as reoccurring App subscriptions are going by the wayside as the public is 100% turned off by them. It doesn’t benefit the user at all, only accountants that are the farthest species from the user’s best interests and have no interests in creating a stellar product - except excel revenue charts and models.

Just one suggestion. I’ve been using pocket for years and I can definitely say it’s a must-have for anyone interested in keeping up with the news and learning new things! The articles made by pocket always catch my attention and the app is aesthetically. However, I do have one suggestion. I prefer to read at night but the dark mode isn’t that easy on the eyes. Would you guys be able to include a black mode option, which would take advantage of the OLED screen? Maybe even have a couple options for the color of the text (like a dulled grey instead of white)?

Horrible update, a different app. Starting with the design, it's way too large, fonts and all, and doesn't utilize current screen resolutions to any beneficial extent. Next the UX is getting worse and worse, making it harder to actually use the app for what it's meant for. And that takes me to my main frustration with the recent updates. Pocket has seemingly forgotten why people use their app in the first place. They were formally called READ Later, not LISTEN Later. The listen feature is nice, but it's not why I use the app. More importantly, it definitely doesn't warrent pushing every other feature (like tagging, archiving, and favoriting) out of focus. Also if I'm watching a video in the app it crashes after a few minutes, but that pales in comparison. Bottom line, if you want to make an article-listening app, don't screw this one up to do it.

Getting Better. The redesign is what brought me back to Pocket. I know this is petty, but the old colorful logo and design looked dated and poorly designed. That’s an enormous pet peeve of mine. I’m an huge fan of the Firefox splash page that now shows top articles on Pocket. I read these every day and they really are some of the best articles on the web. But I hadn’t realized the app had been redesigned, so I never used it on my phone. I decided to once again give it a try because I can’t always read articles on Firefox at work, so I started saving them. Then I realized the new pocket app can read them to me. I’ve been using Voice Dream to read articles to me for years. I love this and truly think it is how many people will consume news in the future. So I was thrilled to see Pocket using this. One day, synth voices will sound like natural human voices. I can’t wait. Thanks, Pocket, for moving this app forward and making a great product.

Just put it in your Pocket. Ok listen. I actually freakin love Pocket. I just put up a post on my social media raving about it before I got the “write a review?” pop-up in the app. And I’m like: Yeah Pocket, sure. I got you. You’ve never done me dirty and I GOT YOU. So like: I save articles from online to my Pocket and just read them on my commute. The easy of transitioning within the app, the beauty of how the articles are presented in a readable format, the little info bar that tells me how long I can expect a read to take.. all gold. I would love to be in Pocket commercials to rant about it to the world. Love you Pocket. xoxo-Bateman

Good app, but some issues. Pocket is a great app I’ve been using for the last couple years to save articles to read when I don’t have internet connection. But I’ve been noticing more problems than usual since the last update. Some of my articles are over multiple pages, and it used to be very good about downloading each page. Now I have to save each page individually. A lot of them have also been a lot of articles that gave me a, “This page doesn’t appear to be an article and therefore may not display well in the article view” message. I can switch to web view, but it often doesn’t load right for me offline. It gives the option to send feedback saying it should be an article, but the feedback doesn’t actually change anything. Small problems by themselves, but overall very inconvenient for a person in my situation who doesn’t often have the connectivity to deal with the problem.

Update deleted 10years of saves. I would not have updated the app had I known that doing so would delete 10 years of saves! The app said it was restoring my saves, but they haven’t reappeared in two days. Since I no longer have any of my saved pages, I have little reason to use the app. I chose Pocket to save recipes, when my Mac recipe app was no longer supported. I lost a bunch of recipes then. I slowly started rebuilding them with pocket, which of course relies on the continued existence of the source website, but now those are lost too. My needs would be better served if I saved web pages as files or started a spreadsheet instead. I can save any other web pages I want to revisit, under my reading list.

Used to be great. I’ve loved Pocket for reading on my iPad for years, but the recent update messed everything up! Now when I save to Pocket using another app’s Share menu, the article I saved doesn’t show up in the Pocket app! The app only shows old articles. (Even that is worse because the list view now shows only a few article titles on a screen, making it much harder to navigate to the article I want.) To see the recently saved articles, I have to close the app and open pocket in a browser tab. Which has plenty of problems of its own. Please fix this ASAP or I will have to switch to another app.

Great App. I am very happy I got this app, it helped me clear up and organize websites I visit without concern I might lose the links otherwise. I bookmark my favorites like most people but it nice to see them all in one place and categorized. I wish they had customizable titles using color and or emojis for the tags. I also wish tags could be arranged automatically according to type, unfortunately you cannot, yes by selecting a tag you get all the items in that category. The last thing I wish is the ability to change the website tile, for example my “sign in” page on a website was the link I saved, it now says “session expired” in the app, it is hard to identify what you save in some cases and changing the title would be helpful.

Lots of issues with this year’s updates. The iOS / iPadOS clients for Pocket worked very well until earlier this year. Unfortunately, updates this year have created major problems for me: - “Show app badge count” is broken on iPhone and iPad, no count appears - Information density of the list view on iPad is unacceptable. Tons of screen space, but only ~six titles are shown onscreen, without any description - Basic actions like archiving are now hidden behind a “…” icon, swipe no longer works. - No paying customer support channels, just a list of help articles I can still use the app, but the experience has become worse, I can’t see how many articles are left to read, navigating is slower, archiving is more disruptive to my reading experience. Finally, a small feature request — i’d love for the “Open in Browser” button to have an option to actually open an article in my own browser. As it is, I need to: 1. Open the article 2. Open in Pocket’s browser 3. Open in my browser … and then exit all three of those when i’m done reading. Sometimes I need my own browser, e.g. to follow links and manage tabs i’m following from the article more easily.

Disastrous redesign. I work in product design. I’ve never seen an app so throughly undermine its core job to be done. Myself and how many countless others use pocket as an article reader, mainly in offline settings. Your list of articles is no longer the main tab — when you open the app on the subway or in the park or on a plane, you get this useless feed aggregator that doesn’t even load because your offline. Worse, the app no longer saves your place in an article or even which article you were reading. You have to scroll through your list, find the article, and then find where you were. C’mon guys. I understand this is a new release but it seems you’ve completely lost track of your value proposition and prioritized all the wrong things.

Please bring back old listening functions.... This app is fantastic and one of the best. I mainly use it because of the read/listen function. It allows me to listen to articles while I'm driving, at the gym, on the plane, etc and can quickly switch from listening to reading. However, the last update changed the listening function and now I need an wifi/cell signal which really limits my usage. It also no longer follows along with the article so I'm not able to switch quickly from listening to reading. It would be great if there was an option to go back to the old listening function or go back to the old release version.

One of my top 10 apps. 3 reasons Pocket is the best way to organize articles: it’s simple to add and tag articles, it has a simple but customizable view, AND you can listen to articles using their text to speech feature which very natural. You can also sign up for a curated list of weekly reads (based on your interests I think) that are really excellent. If you like to save articles to read later on your phone and on your computer in one convenient cloud location, this is a great choice. Also dark mode is great for reading in bed.

New update makes pocket worthless. This new update caused to me disable automatic updates for apps. I collect a bunch of articles and have pocket read it to me while I drive. In the older versions, it's really easy. Tap. Add to pocket. Open pocket. Tap article. Tap read. Done Sometimes I have to tell it to go to article view if it's another language but I can live with it. If I want to learn Chinese, I let it read and I follow along on the screen. The new pocket cannot read to me. It will read English articles without problems. But Chinese? No. Worse yet, it covers up the text with this banner that you cannot remove. Remove banner, stops reading. And that presentation icon that deletes your articles. Great. Make it easy to accidentally delete articles before you read them. If I go into web view and go to another page and then go back to article view, pocket used to display the article view of the new page. Not anymore. You get your article view of the original page and nothing else! And disallowing selecting text on a page?! What century is this? Absolutely trash update. Totally worthless. I'm going to have to go back to an older version.

Save websites and articles for later. I’ve used Pocket for many years and it is one of the first things I download after restoring or getting a new phone. It allows you to easily save websites and articles for later perusal. Instead of having to maintain multiple internet windows open (thus utilizing RAM) you can click the upload icon (in iOS it’s the box with the up arrow) and tap the Pocket icon and your website or article will be saved to Pocket. Open Pocket and find your saved items. It would be nice to have Pocket search for an article as I save many every day but it’s still useful.

Too many technical issues to keep my subscription. I’m having issues adding articles and them not being able to display at all. I will add an article directly from a publisher’s site in my browser and then whenI try to open it in pocket, I get some weird apple news error. I don’t, and never have used apple news. — Highlighting is a crucial feature for me and I cannot get it to work 80% of the time. I have to open/close the app several times to get it to even try to highlight something. When it does work, it barely does. I will start highlighting something and it will jump to a random spot in the article and I sometimes have to spend several minutes trying to highlight a single passage. Sometimes I will finally get a passage highlighted and then when I click “Highlight” it de-selects all my text. So I’m going to have to cancel my subscription until this gets sorted out, or maybe just move over to instapaper entirely as I’ve had these issues for months now and support has been zerohelp in addressing these issues.

Lacking Integration. Pocket is an excellent concept, but it seems to be lacking good integration with prominent news distributors. Many articles can’t load into the application due to pay walls (WSJ) and others fail to utilize the reader view (The Economist), merely saving links to the original content instead. These problems persist despite the consumer (me) having subscriptions with all the aforementioned parties. These failures may not be entirely attributable to Pocket, but the fact remains that a *payed* service which cannot complete its most basic advertised functions with major news distributors is not holding up its side of the bargain. I hope to return with a better review of an otherwise excellent service once these problems are fixed.

Do not pay for premium -- also missing basic apps. Latest update removes Evernote share. Using the base Evernote share does not port tags saved. Adding to previous review: the app continues to add features that do not add value to me while losing or missing others. * document parsing is not as good as it used to be. That is a core function * premium search makes search unusable if you have large archives. Too many results that are simply noise. I would gladly pay if doing so didn’t degrade the experience. Below is my previous review and is still accurate. The app is losing key functionality year over year. There are now several other better options. My issues include: - cannot share a full article without first opening with safari. All other options save a snipet only. Most do not include the category tags. - the premium service addon includes tag suggestions, but the user must manually apply. Very significant workflow issue! - cannot limit number of items downloaded - UI has the button bar in awkward spot for iPad user

New update is a HUGE step back. Pocket's latest version, 7.0 (as of October 13, 2018) saw a lot of changes, many of which were negative. Bugs with crashing and UX changes make the app MUCH harder to use than before. The spacing for the article list is WAY too much - the previous layout and look was much better. As other users have stated, this makes it much harder to scroll through a long list, and the user can only see four articles at once on the screen. Some app-breaking bugs have also been introduced, leaving the app crashing down whenever the screen is locked or the focus goes to another app and comes back. Essentially, to keep the app from crashing you have to always keep your screen on and never go to another app or the home screen. While others might have liked the new speaking feature, there is also an issue with viewing an article while this is happening (as others have stated). Altogether the latest 7.0 version is completely unusable, and while the 6.x version was 5-star, and new one only deserves two or even one due to the new crashing bugs.

“Bug fix” update caused Saves to be wiped out. After the redesign that completely messed up the app and reduced functionality, I thought the following, smaller updates would just be slowly building the app back up to where it was. Instead, this most recent update has wiped my Saved articles and has further reduced access to archived articles. Edit: Tech support was able to help resolve this individual issue (reinstall the app and migrate Pocket account to Firefox) and has been responsive to issues raised with the redesign. I have upped my review from 1 star to 2 stars for that reason. The app is still climbing out of the hole that the redesign put it in and I hope one day it will succeed.

Amazing. This app will save articles and then read them to you. This is everything I have been looking for when I come across long articles that I would love to read but don’t have time but can listen to while driving or any legal briefs and other long winded papers that I just don’t have time to read but is very interested in the information . It turns all your articles into a podcast. I have not been this excited about an app in years. The app does not even advertise this aspect of it and it is the best part I would have gladly paid 4.99 for this feature.

One of the best. I don’t like writing reviews, but in the case of Pocket I have to give credit where credit is due. Pocket is one of my favorite apps. I am a news/media junkie and Pocket lets me save all these great links and news articles I come across during my daily browsing the web. It’s like my web browsing archive. I go back to my save file and find gems I saved. It’s a great app. You can go back to the web version of the article you saved. What is really great is that in your pocket app any links in the article you saved will in turn be saved to your folder. I give Pocket an A+

Search doesn’t work. Every time I check this app on my phone another feature that worked perfectly in an old version doesn’t work anymore, now I can’t search for URL’s, it just says my list is empty, and the tags are the same thing, I click on the one minute tag and get results, but 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 minutes and any other length brings up 0 results, I have over 5000 articles saved, you really need to downgrade the app to an older version, every update since you started your own tts feature has gotten worse and worse in terms of functionality, whatever version you were on like 2 or 3 or 5 years ago just worked, flawlessly, we don’t need big flashy updates to make it look nicer or cooler, just something that works, and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it

Great. My reading speed is slow and the text-to-speech feature helps me plow through my reading list. My only complaint is that the 15-second rewind/forward buttons often get messed up and need to be reset by dragging the slider or closing and opening the audio player, which can be annoying because I have to rewind a lot. As a recommendation, integrating visuals via flashing words onto the screen as they’re read could help with mispronunciations and / or being aware that the author is currently inside a quotation

Was Great, Now Terrible, Especially for Premium Users. There were so many things about this app that were fantastic & it was by far my favorite of the read-it-later apps. Sadly all of those things & features have slowly disappeared or been silently removed, leaving behind a super basic experience that’s especially insulting to the paid premium users. You used to be able to pick from multiple fonts & change the spacing/background color when reading, but now that’s all gone. Yet Pocket still advertises it as a premium feature! Also was fantastic for reading while having no service yet it almost always wants to take you to the article’s website to read, which obviously doesn’t work. So sad, such a waste. Definitely don’t become a premium member it’s a total waste of your money.

Subscription model ruins another great app!. Here’s another great example of a stellar app that works great across all platforms, is very useful, and solves a real problem. The UI is clean and easy to understand, it’s fast, and plugins like browser addons make it even easier to use. So why only 3 stars? Another great app ruined by a subscription model. Look, I get it - as devs we love the idea of recurring income. But as users, one more subscription is one too many. I don’t know why more companies don’t just offer BOTH - a cheaper sub and a more expensive one-time purchase. But as it stands, this is another great app ruined by locking their premium features behind a subscription.

What happened to the iOS app?. This used to be my favorite app for saving online content to read later, but over the past several months it barely functions - I no longer see a selection of fonts (despite paying for premium subscription), it oftentimes doesn't show the article view and utilizes the Safari reader. What's going on? I removed and re-installed the app multiple times to no avail. I reached out to customer service and received an apology with no estimated fix date. Are you in the process of redesigning the app? Then at least say so instead of keeping your subscribers in the dark. When do you expect to restore all the functionality your subscribers have come to expect? I'm not sure what I'm paying for at this point - I guess I'm still hoping for the app to come back and be as good as before or even better.

Bug? (revised). I installed the app, and attempted to sign up. Though I tried several times, I could only enter my name and email address. All attempts to go to the next line to enter a password were thwarted. I deleted the app. UPDATE: I later discovered there was a problem on my end. Though I will likely not try installing the app again, I am greatly enjoying the articles that began arriving in my email after the failed attempts to get the app. Thank you. Thank you also for the developer’s response. I apologize for taking your time. If there were a way to remove my first rating, I would. I bumped the rating up, but since I haven’t tried the app I can’t give it a true rating at this time.

Set aside articles for reading later.. When I am working on my computer, trying to locate specific information, I am always coming across articles of interest. But these articles, while interesting, are not related to the task at hand. Do I stop and read them now, or save them for later to read in the evening after work? POCKET let’s me save them, knowing I can find them easily, and meanwhile I can focus and get back to my work. Thank you for a wonderful system!

Awful. I have literally never left a review in the App Store for an app. That’s how bad this app has become. I’ve used the app for over 10 years and was in the top 1% of users every year according to the end of year email that is sent. The app has become unusable over the past few months. Can no longer save links from twitter to this app. I used to be able to copy a link and open the Pocket app and could save a link that way. That feature also no longer works. I deleted my Pocket account and app and I switched to Instapaper and it works how I need it to. I can save links from twitter with no problems. So you can’t blame Elon for that issue because other apps work. Save your time and find an alternative to this app. I can’t believe anyone would pay for Pocket when the experience for a free account is literally broken and does not work.
