Review. As a French student it is extremely helpful to hear real French. The updates could be better, with fewer crashes and such.

Does exactly what it says. (V2.1.1). A word a day, for free, with audio, and a recording function. One caveat: you might backup your word list, as after updating I found I had lost over a year's worth of vocabulary. I'm wary of the recent update for that reason, but will review again post-installation. As it stands, I would recommend this app.

Good does not crash upon 1st opening. Really this is a good way to ease into learning French. I like it alot. Mainly bad reviews are for crashes, it just got updated...... Get it it's freeeeeeeee

It's okay.. Some of the words don't seem to be the common saying. I got the Croatian and the French and I know a bit of French already, so I'm concerned now about what might be off with the Croatian. It's fairly easy to use, but I'm tired of the membership as popping up. I paid for the app; I don't want to do anything else.

Great idea, but.... I love the idea of a word a day, however I haven't been getting any new words lately. There are some glitches that need to be fixed. Update... I downloaded the most recent update and now the program crashes every time I try to open it. So it doesn't work at all.

Pretty Good. This is a really neat app. You don't learn it as fast as lightning, but as it says in the description, it is really great.

v1.5 update erases your wordbank!! :-(. Although the v1.5 update gives you the ability to add more than one word a day, it also erases the wordbank that you might've built up over months by launching the app every day! This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional on the part of the developers, showing such disregard for their users' time & effort. Skip this update & wait for the next one that does NOT trash your hard-earned wordbank!! I'll change my rating from one star after they fix this.

Good way to learn but.... The app creators are working on fixes for the issues, and once they're fixed this is a good app to use to learn French words. My only negative feedback is when you are presented with a word, it is not presented with la or le to identify if the word is masculine or feminine. In French, as with many languages, it is required to use the article to identify the word's gender. That article should be added to every noun in this program. Just knowing the word isn't enough without that article, and the wrong article can change the whole meaning of a word.

WordPowerLt. What happened to the native French speaker ? I updated my app today on my iPad, and now there is no speaker!!! That is one of the reasons I liked this app. Before I upgraded I could hear the word of the day pronounced by the French speaker. Now there is no speaker. Please fix this. What a disappointment.

French helper. This app is pretty cool, I wish it had larger database of words. I also wish it grouped words by different contexts to make it personalized. Good app

Frenchflute. I like the app but it keeps closing down while I using it. I can open it again, but I'm not sure why that's happening. Otherwise, it's great to work on .

This is great. Super great French app! I'm learning at my own pace and the flash cards makes learning clear and easy! Definitely dope!

Word choices are odd. The app does exactly what it says it will do and the one word per day is completely manageable. The word choices are a little odd, however. Still, it's a good app.

Not Worth It. Even for free I do not recommend. For the asking price of $0.99, I definitely would not purchase. 1) PROMO VERSION - This lite version is really a sample of their expensive $9.99 version. Both versions are overpriced. This should be FREE always and the pro should be no more than $4. 2) ONE WORD DAILY - Not helpful if you want to build vocab. There are better apps that have vocab flashcards grouped by category or an audio phrasebook for better comprehension. 3) UNTRUSTWORTHY - This company has a reputation for errors. I have 2 different apps that have mistakes with gender article concordance, wrong or mispelled words, & non-native translations. 4) BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE - No response to email about correcting errors. Update to fix mistakes seems unlikely.

Poor file names. I have installed several of the WordPower Lite applications for different languages. The problem is that on the computer, they are all named "WordPowerLt 1.2.ipa" regardless of the language. When more than one of these applications is installed, then your hard drive will be filled with a bunch of files named ""WordPowerLt 1.2.ipa", ""WordPowerLt 1.2 1.ipa", ""WordPowerLt 1.2 2.ipa" and so on, regardless of the language. Even on the iPhone home screen, all the applications are just named "WordPowerLt". After opening an application and viewing the Info for each application, every one of them is just named ""WordPower Lite V1.2". This is just plain lazy and sloppy. Developers should not get lazy with file names. The name of the file on the hard drive and the name of the application displayed on the iPhone should all be the same as the name that is displayed in iTunes.

Excellent daily dose if a new language. A simple way to expand your vocabulary little by little each day.

Not bad for free. I had this app before and it kept locking up, but since they updated I have no complaints.

Give it back !! All of it. They are all gone .. The words that i have been collecting for the past two years are gone !!! This is shameful !!! Come on guys and what's worse is i'm left with no new words !! Instead you are repeating the words that are already given !! At least have mercy and provide new words !!!!

Easy to use. I've tired other language apps and this one has a larger variety of words and more levels.

Great app. The cumulative effect works. One word at a time is something anyone can do. The context of the sentences and the fact that there are examples with different voices and speeds is also helpful for retention. Thanks.

Great lite App!. This it a great app. When recording your voice for playback try and use the mic that's built into the headphones if you have the iPhone. It works better then the mic on he phone itself. Well worth downloading!

Excellent Resource. Word of the day is wonderful at expanding one's vocabulary. This is definitely my go to app to complement my french classes.

Fun!. It is nice to receive new words! It is nice to be able to practice the pronunciation and then use them in context. It is fun to have and provides a way to practice that is short and sweet!

A decent tool to refresh your memory. Helps to refresh your memory and expand your vocabulary for those who already know French. Wouldn't recommend it for someone who wants to learn French from scratch but for anyone who would like to polish their vocabulary, it's a pretty decent tool to use.

Word of the Day. I really look forward to receiving the word of the day. It makes learning fun!

Retired. Wonderful apps! I am using it everyday. This apps lets me learn French at my own pace. Particularly helpful is the voice pronunciation by French nationals. Also great is the flash card to help memorizing vocabulary. Absolutely worth it to download!

Deceitful waste of time.. Don't waste your time, this trial is nothing but an ad for the full version, it just keeps sending you in a loop trying to trick you into buying the full version, (without letting you know the price BTW), and I'm not even sure if the fee is a one time deal or what, and the way they keep trying to get you to pay without actually trying the product makes me wonder how many other fees there are, but of course there's no way to tell since it's just a series of loops and lists of features with no way of knowing what they are, or how they work. My suggestion to them is that if they are going to offer a free trial to entice people to buy, they may want to let people actually try the product.

Only the record button works. Since the update only the record button works so now I can't even hear how to pronounce the word and it's not just this language also your Thai and Italian are experiencing the same thing please fix this

It does what it says. I just wish it offered more than one word a day but for a free application I am not complaining. The rating would have been higher if there were more daily words offered.

Despite the Complaints. This app is pretty nifty. It acts as a helpful companion if you are learning French or just brushing up on your high school vocabulary. This app is NOT a fast track to learning the language because that's not what it's supposed to be. It's merely a spiffy new word every day. My only complaint is that it doesn't save words if you don't check your phone every day. Other than that, great!

Much improved!. I get French and Spanish, so I love that the same word is the word of the day in both languages. Also like that the words are coming in series - days of the week, etc. Good upgrades!

Great!. I love the fact that this app has audio and can record your pronunciation to hear the difference. Also loves that it has flashcards within the app.

Was kinda cool before the update. Then the update caused the speaker buttons to gray out and I now have no way to tell if I'm pronouncing the words correctly. Before the update I would have awarded three stars, but now it just gets one. I have about four other french learning apps that are scads better than this one. My recommendation is to go get those and not waste your time with this one. They have a lot of work to do before this language app will be worth anyone's time, let alone anyone's money.

the price got increased. Hello.. I dont know why the price for wordpower applications had doubled? I bought the full french for almost 5$ now its almost 10$?

App is no longer working. Apple software update I could no longer get the app to sync with the word break it just freezes on the screen. This was one of my favorite app but I think that I’m going have to choose another one because this one hasn’t worked for the last seven days.

Buttons don't work!!!. I like the one page of the app I have seen but I have only been able to see one word because the next and previous button doesn't work.... please fix so I can keep using it!!!!

Needs quite a bit of work.. I love having an app that gives me a new french term to learn each day, but this app needs some work. Even if it is free. The menu doesn't work right, and the sentences are often translated wrong. Not just different word choice, but like a different word altogether! Please fix that.

Great concept but.... I love the concept. I have wordpower in Spanish and it's great! But the French one however uses words that are a little less useful. Like marathon and things like that. I got it cause I'm going to France in February but .... With the words it giving me. I'll be really useless when I go :(

Easy to use. Some programs expect you to know certain things already but with this one the things I know aren't important it just teaches me extra things on top of what I already know

Word Bank lost on update, can't get word a day.. The original app worked fine. When I upgraded to this version (1.5), the entire word bank was erased and I started over. For the past week I have not gotten any words even though I have accessed the app every day.

Smart and easy. I don't understand the low rating on this app. I love the fact that you can record yourself and then compare your pronunciation to that of a native speaker's. That little feature helps immensely and it's free. What more do you want?

Disappointed! My app must be downloaded. My app needs to be reinstalled to fix a bug which will cause all the daily words I have learned in the last year to start over! And I paid $9.95 for the full program! I loved it until now! Use duolingo for free -- it's my new go to app for learning French!

Great. It's the best way to learn , to hear your own voice then cross check with the French pronunciation is the best way to learn the correct dialect.

Used to be fun. I was enjoying this app until my word bank disappeared and now the same word has appeared 2 days running.

Awful!. I have only been sent dirty phrases from this app so far, things about masturbating and poo! So I deleted it but it keeps sending me notifications! This is so stupid and annoying. Install at your own risk!

Review Man. Huge catalogue of words but I find the example sentences are not useful in many ways. A lot of the examples are not put into a context that you need the 'word of the day, to be in and find them irrelevant. It is however a great guide to listen to various words being pronounced despite this setback. I do understand and can speak basic French. I can also read and pronounce most words but to use correct gramma for basic conversations this app is not the one you want. If you are learning French as a hobby and do not plan on traveling to a French speaking country this app will be ample. If you need an app to use as a spring board to speak French in a French speaking country this will not benefit you.

Intuitive interface but with relatively easy vocabulary. I bought the full version via the in-app purchase and I have to say it is not the best $10.49 I've spent. I like the idea of the interface and how it is sorted into difficulty levels and categories. It makes it easier for me to revise or learn vocabulary from a topic. However, the vocabulary seems relatively easy. I'm not sure whether this is wrong for my level but I know about 70/85 words from the Lower Intermediate Part II and almost all the words from the other levels and I've been studying French for 4 years. In addition, the concept of 'word of the day' is great but I already know 75% of the words. Great interface but I know most of the words and to pay $10 for 15 words (give or take) for words I don't know is rather pricey (unless it is the wrong level for a 4th year French student).

It is good, but not good enough. Play audio is not available after update the application two days ago. I send email to technique support and write problem report, but never get answer from them. It is disappointed.

French App. Such a tremendous tool for learning. Found it to be very beneficial to my teenager as an overview for in preparation for French II.

Doesn't work after update. The app was ok before I updated. It was nice being able to record myself and compare pronunciations. But after the last update it won't even open.

learn french vocabulary - genko/free and paid app for IPone. This is so lame that it does not even have the gender of nouns, which is essential to French. I got sucked into buying the paid app thinking it would add small things like gender. Who designed this?

Free version. I got this app and it had 1 word. Gives a new word every couple days. At that rate i should be able to form a sentence in a year. Not sure exactly, but when I discovered there were no words I lost interest. Maybe full version is better.

Everything Gone Wrong. This app only allows one word per day? I don't see why you can't learn more. Every time I tried to pull up the settings on the app it would shut off.

Excellent. I look at the word-of-the-day almost every day. It pronounces it, puts it in sentences. Fun.
