Evernote - Notes Organizer Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

doesn’t even save notes anymore :/. This app has gone waaaay downhill. It’s been slow over the past few updates but now it’s at the point that notes don’t even save. Saved two full pages of writing, then returned to the app five minutes later and found the doc they’d been “saved” into completely blank. Came here to see if anyone else was having a similar problem and lo and behold it’s a common theme. Switching to Google Docs for good now— this app is worthless without the quick saving that used to make it so convenient. P.S.: without investing in premium you can’t see update history for notes you’ve written, which is another leg up Google Docs has on Evernote these days. 2024 update: Evernote managed to get even worse than what I last wrote in 2023. Logged back into the app to export notes I’d previously saved within to find that Evernote has imposed a 50 note limit for free users. Didn’t get any previous notification that would be happening. Tried to export the notes that I could open anyway, and I still get endless pop ups prompting me to upgrade to a paid version. Finally clicked one to see the price structure, only to get a “upgrade temporarily unavailable.” So what exactly can I do on the app now, Evernote? You want me to upgrade, but I can’t do that. Ridiculous bait and switch for an app that’s clearly on its last legs and making a desperate cash grab on its way out.

What were they thinking?. Premium user here. Tried to navigate around the new update and am so frustrated with it all. Cant customize the left hand menu - it always opens to all notes. Speaking of the search function! Didn’t they have any beta testers? The search is horrible! You put in a term and it gives suggestions, a few tags. It not a way to narrow to all notes with that term quickly. To search properly you have to use search language which requires a lot of extra typing. This version had made tags worthless as you either have to keep entering searches with each tag or you enter a keyword and a list of tags that include that keyword pops up but you can only select one tag at a time. Everything takes more clicks to find something, do something, or import something. They have also removed the ability to assign tags in the web clipper. Not sure of what they had in mind with this update, but this version is worthless for my purposes. I have over 2000 recipes in a notebook which are organized by tags. By removing the clipper ability to assign tags and the search filter by multiple tags this is pretty useless. Any suggestions on a replacement? Is there a way to restore to old version? If I wasn’t already invested with so many files I would definitely look for another note keeping app. They ruined it!

The latest “improvements” are not improvements. I have used Evernote for many years and will continue to do so because it is the best way I’ve found to keep and organize notes of all kinds. But like many apps, the latest “improvements” are not improvements. For example, the default appearance, called “Home” is a mess. Before the default appearance was what now is found under “Notes.” It now requires two clicks to get to “Notes.” Before, when I wanted to add key words to a note, I selected the word, “keyword” and started typing the keyword in the text box provided. After each keyword, I typed a comma, and the keyword was added to the article, whether the keyword had been previously used or not. Now when I intend to add a keyword, I wait until the list of keywords pops up, and have to wait for it to find the keyword if it exists, or go through additional steps to add it if it does not. Adding more steps to get a job done is not an improvement. But it’s still the best app I’ve found for organizing notes - so I will continue to use it. I’ll just be more irritated about it while I do.

Used to Praise this app. This app has been a well loved staple, it’s been an easy to use and search place to create multiple lists. I’ve amassed an extensive restaurant guide for the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas. It’s my go to assist for passwords, copy and paste text for my work. Suddenly, it logs me off. Every time I exit. Irritating, but not enough to change this well ingrained habit and love for the functionality of this app. It literally is a cornerstone of information I’ve stored for things I want to remember but don’t. When I log in, I have an iPad and the iPhone 6s Plus. Haven’t upgraded or changed devices, yet now my phone is being recognized as a different device. Only one phone. Don’t want to unsync the iPad because it has a keyboard attached. So I’ve been unsyncing the same ONE iPhone and yet the next day it saw it as a different iPhone, after the app installed a thing where you cannot unsync more than two times was enforced. Couple months later, and I am LOCKED out. It won’t let me even sign in with the previously approved devices. So now, I’m not allowed to access my personal notes because you want a fee from me? Maybe I can log in on the iPad next month and transfer all of my notes to an app which won’t my data hostage for a few dollars. You’ve lost a loving user of over 6 years.

It’s a great tool. It’s a great tool for various different reasons. I think an interesting set of features would be a kind of automation, e.g., the ability to set up conditions so if I write certain words the note is added to certain folders or has certain reminders set to it or maybe even triggers a notification to specific people, etc. Also, something I think should be implemented is title caps in .… well, the TITLES of notes. Why is that not a thing? Or at least a toggleable setting? Lastly, why is it that the icon badge notification number is not at all connected to the actual trigger of the notification. I should open the app and it should be totally clear what the notification number is referring to, whether it’s reminders or updates or whatever. The user is just left adrift once he taps on the icon and then has no clue what triggered the notification. It’s just plain bad UX and your UX folks should really be talked to about that because it’s rather fundamental stuff they are missing.

Amazing customer service and great study tool. I love this app for taking notes for my classes. I’ve since used it as a weekly and monthly planner making organizing classes so much easier. I love that I can have all my class notes and planners all in one spot. It’s easy to navigate through as well. The formatting for taking notes makes it easy to follow along in class without having to worry about organizing my notes. I use the class notes template and there’s even a section for questions which I’ve found very helpful as I tend to think of things during lecture but usually at inappropriate times. This template allows me to quickly jot down thoughts so I can ask the professor after class. I’ve only just started to use this app but I’m sure I’ll be using this note taking app well into graduate school. I had to use cengage for one of my college classes and it offered a 6month free trial and after trying to redeem that I ended up being charged for the full annual price. I reached out to customer service and got a response almost immediately with a refund and they honored the free trial as well. I’m beyond happy with this fast service and doing the right thing, I fully expected to be charged the full amount. The only thing I’d love to see is different highlighter colors!

Fantastic update. I just don’t understand some of negative reviews of Evernote’s latest update, which is fantastic. I have been using the app for years and am thrilled to see the innovation that the new leadership team is bringing about a year in. It looks like it took about a year to stabilize, and now new features are a’comin’. Tasks is game changing, and Gmail and Google calendar sync has boosted my productivity tremendously. I have been mainly using the web app but earlier this week updated my iPhone to this version. Immediately following the update I was having all sorts of issues getting my notes to load in the app. So I sent a support ticket to Evernote, called it a day, and accidentally left the app running overnight on my iPhone. To my delight I awakened to see a notification in the app that I had been successfully upgraded to then latest personal version. All of my notes suddenly appeared, and I have had a phenomenal experience with the app ever since. IMO nothing comes close to Evernote. I love Google, but Drive is where notes go to die. Evernote is where they flourish. I cannot say enough good things about this app and what I’m seeing from the company. It is extremely difficult to satisfy all existing customers while innovating and expanding the base. As a longtime user, however, I personally feel that the team is doing a tremendous job. Kudos!

Use to be amazing. For 10 years this was my go to note app it was simply amazing! Now it’s frustrating and infuriating to use. It’s a non stop pop interruption to my workflow of annoying money grabs. It’s pretty ridiculous. You can’t actually go a minute without some interruption to upgrade. How are you suppose to concentrate like this? Oh I know upgrade right? Seriously I can longer actually get work done with Evernote it’s useless. They make sure you have a miserable experience until you actually cave and start to shell out. Then forget actually doing anything useful anymore. ‘“ oh you want write a note, sure write it but it’s $14 a month to save it”. “Oh you want your app to remain open longer then a minute? Sure $79 a year”. “ oh you want to breathe while using our app sure $149 a year”. I’m exaggerating just a bit but wouldn’t it be better just to do away with the free version. Or do you just prefer bugging people incessantly until they give in. Why not just offer a free trial and then purchase only. At least you won’t seem like some seedy, money hungry organization that only made an app to squeeze as much out of people. (I realize this is the modern business model so I guess they are just doing what they should maybe). Evernote use to be great you could tell someone actually put effort and care into designing something they were proud of. Now it’s just an irritating mess of pop ups demanding money for functions that used to be free.

Used to be good. Just a few weeks ago, it was good. I go today to record a note - pictures or anything, just a simple text note - and I had huge problems. I got maybe 3 sentences down when it suddenly closed the keyboard. A problem I've seen a few years before. It then proceeded to close the keyboard every 30 sec thereafter after it was reopened. However, the back up only captured the first 3 sentences and nothing else. Those 3 sentences represented at most maybe 10% of the note. Maybe 5%. So I lost at least 90% of the note. I'm not sure I can even capture the detail now. Upgrades typically are a subscriber's nightmare. I bought a license in the latter part of 2013 almost 9 years). I've watched things shrink (ie. number of devices (waiting for them to actually take it down to a single device at this point)) while other things have expanded. Not exactly all are really useful. But paring down number of devices is legal extortion. When/if it comes down to one device, I'm gone. I'll start searching for another and transfer the notes I want to keep and delete the rest along with this app.

Premium Subscription Buyer Beware. I’m giving this review because over the past 5 years, I’ve been a loyal, power user of the Evernote tool. Short of some ‘buggy issues’ in the latest updates (which is normal), the Evernote tool is hands down one of the most effective, well designed, and intentionally planned tools for business. Because of the treatment is subscription upgrades across devices, I ended up with two accounts being billed on separate devices on 3 separate occasions. To stop the duplicate billing, I cancel one or more subscriptions to fix the issue. It has cost me upwards of $35/month for a $7.99 monthly subscription. I just cancelled again and am a Premium subscriber through August. Because I cancelled, however, the pop ups for upgrade have made the app unusable. I have a paid subscription through August and can’t use it because I hit a payment gateway every time use the app I have a premium subscription to through August. The app is amazing. If you plan to be a Premium subscriber to sync to multiple devices however, Buyer Beware. $35/month for a one seat license for a $7.99/month subscription you can’t use is steep by anyone’s standards. When I quit the app 4 different times to try to connect with someone to help with the issue, I discovered there’s no customer service connection offered to fix the issue.

“Improvements” aren’t always improvements. I’m an Evernote long-hauler. User since 2012. I will say that i have wished i could easily switch to another note taking app for the past 18 months or so. SO MANY ISSUES. I used to be able to record meetings, take pictures of documents along the way and type notes seamlessly and without issue. Not anymore. The document scanner has a mind of it’s own so I’m having to take a number of scans before i get something useable. The recording tends to crash the whole app, so I’ve given up on even using that about 6 months ago. App crashing creating duplicate notes is a very common occurrence. When I reach out for help the hoops they make you jump through like “recreate the problem then send us a usage report” is NOT a good uses of my time since the problems are sporadic, so again, i give up and just work around the issue. Searching for a document has become so cumbersome and at times inaccurate, so i just give up and go through about 5 clicks to search through the directory. The new home screen is NOT at all useful or appealing to me. I should point out that i have a premium membership and primarily use Evernote on my iPad -occasionally accessing records on my iPhone and MacBook.

This is my go to app for remembering anything.. Evernote is an absolutely indispensable tool for anyone who needs to keep track of information, ideas, and inspiration. As a writer, I use Evernote for everything from jotting down quick notes and to-do lists to organizing research and developing outlines for my work. I can access my notes from anywhere and on any device, which means I'm always able to stay on top of my work, no matter where I am. One of the things I love most about Evernote is how easy it is to use. The interface is intuitive and streamlined, and I never have to waste time fumbling around trying to find what I need. Everything is right where I expect it to be, and I can quickly search through all of my notes to find exactly what I'm looking for. Overall, I would highly recommend Evernote to anyone who needs to keep track of information and ideas. It's a five-star product in my book, and I wouldn't want to be without it.

Lost photos I uploaded for recipes. I used to love Evernote until today. I bragged to all of my friends how great Evernote. I use it for many things including as a recipe storage. I am using Evernote basic. However, today the App lost 2 of my recipes. I’m very frustrated. I had a special pasta recipe I was going to make with my son. I saw the photo of the recipe on my phone and when I clicked on it and opened it up the photo disappeared. I can’t seem to get it back in any way. I think this is a terrible thing to have happened. I tried to organize my recipes electronically and pitched the hard copies. Now I have lost that recipe and another. I clicked on another recipe from the app and that photo disappeared as I opened it. I think I took these photos in 2015. The app worked fine for a recipe photo I took in 2017 this morning but it losing older photos. This is unacceptable. I stopped opening recipe notes and went to the webpage on my Mac to open other recipes and the browser version worked fine with the other pasta recipes I added the same day. But now I have wasted an hour trying to no avail to restore the image. Because I’m a basic user, I’m not even able to email customer support. The app appears to be garbage right now if it loses photos while the web browser does not. I’m so disappointed.

They broke it!. Ok, so I’ve been a premium user with thousands of notes, and have been for years, and have recommended Evernote to everyone I know (to the extent that everyone at my last two workplaces is convinced that they pay me for marketing—or should, at any rate). But the iPhone app really has become quite unusable since the update a few months ago. Not only does it take eons to sync across devices (which it somehow suddenly can’t seem to be able to do anymore, despite having been able to for years), my biggest problem is the scanning. I used to use it extensively for scanning physical copies of documents i was working on. But not only have I not been able to do that (whatever they have done to tweak that, i now have to take ten photographs of a page to get something that is not blurred beyond legibility), what is infinitely worse is that there is only a 50% chance that any pictures you might have scanned will make it to Evernote. I.e. you can spend 30 minutes trying to take unblurred pictures of a few physical documents you are working with, Press ok, and half the time, find that the pictures have simply disappeared. I have stopped using the app on my iPhone altogether (because it is literally unusable), and am waiting for the day that developers decide to break the desktop app too.

Customer Service. If you are looking for a company that has accessible customer service, look elsewhere. For many people, we don't realize how important customer service is until we are in a dire pickle, but, let me be the one to tell you, it is VERY important to have the option to speak with someone during those times of need. Evernote, on the other hand, doesn't seem to believe in customer accessibility or satisfaction. When having an issue with my billing account, I attempted to call the customer service number given on my bank statement only to be transferred to a voicemail telling me to leave my email address. The only form of communication they offer is through email or online chat. While that is great for younger people, there are other generations who would prefer speaking with an actual person to help deescalate the issue before it gets out of hand. It is also in their policy to not give refunds. My experience today was joining an online chat, being told there was nothing they could do for the extra $64 in charges they cost me, and to have a great day. I will be checking to make sure that the companies I choose to give my business to have a phone number I can call from now on to know they actually care about their customers. It also says something about a site that has almost as many 1 stars as 5 stars. Thanks for nothing, Evernote.

Updating review. I gave this app a one star review a few weeks ago, and have since received a response from the development team. For context, I have been using Evernote for more than a decade, and have been a paying user for many of those years. My early experiences were fantastic; the program ran smoothly, I literally never had a reason to complain. As I have relied more and more on it over the last couple of years, the bugginess and overall poor performance of the app has become too much to ignore, prompting my negative review. The response I received from the development team leads me to bemoan the fact there is not a rating below a single star. For every issue that I identified as a problem to the team that reached out, I kid you not the response was a variation of: “This is a known issue, we have no timeline for when it will be fixed.” While I may have an appreciation for the honesty of that response, there is nothing about that which gives me any incentive to continue to grind through a frustrating experience with an app I literally use daily when there are other options/ecosystems out there for me to try. It will be an unbelievably painful process for me to in fact extricate myself from Evernote’s ecosystem, but at this point it would be the definition of insanity for me to remain in it - they know there are problems, they have no idea when (if?) they will be fixed. Buyer beware; this is not the Evernote of 5 or so years ago.

DECADE Long User, running away loyal users. so i’ve been using for a really long time not a new user, what i don’t appreciate is being bombarded with premium pop ups that i have to “CONFIRM” just to exit out of everytime i enter the app.i especially don’t like how you’re denied doing very basic things such as customizing a home screen???? without paying for premium. what’s funny is i hate the layout, thus i’ve been using evernote LESS but a quick fix to improve my accessibility (no need for scratch pad to be smack in the center looks tacky) is seen as a CASH GRAB for them. i’ve been VERY loyal for over a decade with this platform. i feel the same way ive felt with a photo editor once called picmonkey—also started using when i was only a teenager and cash grabbing (now) young adults who were loyal ran me away. 😞 sad but i may actually have to start looking for something that has a better layout by default, something i don’t have to pay for how RIDICULOYS. again a shame because i’ve been using for so long. don’t fix what’s broken, i no longer feel like we’re family.

My Rant. I really used to love this app. This was the app that served as my personal journal that got me through years of hard times and served as a place where I can go to reminisce past periods in my life. I am beyond heartbroken at the corporate greed of this company. I mean come on! 130 dollars a year for a notes app? 15 dollars a month for a notes app? Make that make sense!?? I have been using Evernote for years and I know they’ve been trying their hardest to get me on a payment plan of some sort for a while now, but honestly the app just ain’t that good for me to be paying for it. There are cheaper apps if that’s what you’re looking for, and the cheapest option would be to write, the old fashioned way with pen and paper. Or use the notes app on your phone. Has it really gotten to this point fr? Gosh. I had over 700+ journal entries and they all meant the world to me. To put me behind a paywall is sick and twisted truly, when I have been using this app for over 6 years. I’m just so upset about this truly. I feel like I’m breaking up with an app lol, but I just cannot support this at all. A subscription to a notes app is entirely too greedy and I have to say no. So for that, 1 star, I think you’ve served your purpose and I hope you’re happy to lose yet another person. If anyone knows a better app, that’s not behind a paywall lmk smh.

It used to be much better. Like many of the others who have posted reviews recently, I have used Evernote for many years and come to rely heavily on it for organizing just about every aspect of my life. But I’ve grown increasingly frustrated with its performance in the past six months to a year. I think the problem is that it doesn’t sync well, and especially not across multiple platforms (MacBook laptop, iPad, iPhone). But even just on one platform, I can type a note, then come back to it a few minutes later and discover that only the first few words of the note were saved. The rest is blank. Or Evernote will create multiple versions of the same note, each different only slightly from the previous version, and I have to figure out which one is the prevailing version and to make sure that no information got lost across the different versions. It’s getting to the point where I just don’t trust the app with important information. I wish the developers would attend to this, or at least admit that it’s a problem they’re concerned about, as it’s clearly a problem for many users.

They are “increasing prices” without saying how much.. I just got an email today saying my subscription price will “change next month.” I’ve been with Evernote since 2011. I get the subscription prices go up, seems like every single app or subscription has been doing this lately. But don’t send emails where you say it will “change” but don’t bother to indicate how much so I can decide before my next billing period if I want to keep the subscription or downgrade etc. All you say iTunes will provide more info but come on, it makes no difference matter how I’m subscribed. You know what you’re going to be charging. Honestly I feel like I should just unsubscribe before you bill me some unknown amount that is probably really high as you fail to disclose it . It does zero help to just tell me it’s changing. The email states you are letting us know “before he next billing date.” But.. this vague notice is not helpful in the least. There are quite a few issues with this app as stated in many poor reviews after updated. I’ve overlooked because I still wanted to stay with Evernote. You’ve left me no reasonable option here except to cancel my paid subscription after 11 years.

One of my favorite and most used apps. The latest iOS version update contains a problem that prevents moving notes from one folder to another. I tried to report the problem, but the convoluted, dreadfully complex barriers to prevent reporting problems is nothing short of an insult to Evernote’s customers. I gave up and don’t plan to ever waste my time trying to report problems in the future. Evernote should be ashamed for trying to prevent the easiest possible reporting of problems. Having used Evernote for well more than 10 years now, I do not make the above statement lightly. That being said, Evernote has proven to be every bit as handy as I had hoped. The shared access is a great convenience. I am using it much more than I had originally expected, and most likely, I will continue finding additional convenient uses. I sincerely hope that whenever Evernote finally becomes aware of the problem(s) with its iOS app, that its normal superb functionality will be restored. Fortunately, Evernote continues to work properly on my computer. Normally, I use the iPhone version very frequently daily.

Don't pay for premium!. I have used Evernote premium for several years now. For the last few months this app has become so unstable that I find myself rarely using it anymore. I have already cancelled my subscription and have moved most of my collection to another software. The issues that I have had - and to this day I have not found a way to fix - are 1: Taking several minutes to load a note, no matter the size of the file, what the note contains, how long since last accessed, or which device I access from. Notes simply will not load. 2: I can no longer move notes to new notebooks. They are defaulting to my primary notebook but moving the note to another notebook simply will not work. 3: A few notebooks are shared with members of my work team for quickly sending information to each other. A few of my workers can't access the notebook anymore and I am unable to give them access again. No, I am not using an old device. I have the Iphone 12 pro Max and fully updated iOS. Internet at home and the office is at least 250Mb speeds, and there are no restrictions on the app through iOS settings. This app has become utterly useless and I'm annoyed that I stored so much data only to have Evernote fail for months now. Forums and other reviews tell me I not the only one having issues and apparently the devs don't seem to care.

Security Breach - Please Read!. This is a long review, but please read it before considering using Evernote. I have used Evernote for several years under the impression that information was secure. However, I received an email today telling me that someone had accessed my account in Brazil. After changing my password and looking into it, it shows a list of applications and ways that my account has been accessed since I opened the account in 2013. It shows that individuals from several different countries have been able to access and have accessed my account via phone as well as through the web. My account had been accessed several times within the last two months. I have never received a notification prior to today letting me know that my account was logged into in from an unfamiliar location or device. I have had several other apps/accounts that have been hacked over the last few months and many of the passwords to these accounts were listed in Evernote. Evernote is NOT secure. They do not monitor activity on your account nor do they alert you of potential hacking. I have chosen to delete my account and reset all information that was located in.

Terribly Buggy App. I downloaded evernote due to websites saying it was the best app for to-do-lists and notes. Boy is it NOT. I wanted to step away from iNotes because it constantly loads blank and apple refuses to even acknowledge it’s an issue. So I tried evernote and it’s WORSE! At least with iNotes it saves what I write, I just have to close and open the app for it to load again. With evernote I am CONSTANTLY having to re-type stuff after saving what I write. CONSTANTLY, meaning 90% of the time I type anything. That is not a joke. I click the save icon and either the last thing I wrote is completely gone, or only half of it saved. So I’m constantly wasting time retyping things. Again, it’s all the time. I have a new iPhone with the latest ios. I have auto updates on this app, so there should be no reason it is THIS buggy. I’ve used it for about a week and I am always having to check to make sure everything saved. The notes also duplicate blank copies as well. Often enough that I’m regularly having to go in and click on both notes to see which one is the blank so I can delete it. Then add in that the app signs itself out regularly. I’m either switching back to iNotes (not happy about that) or finding something else because this app is frankly so buggy it’s an unusable waste of time.

Life-Saver for Schoolwork!. I absolutely LOVE Evernote and it has been a life-saver with my schoolwork, especially since everything is going remote. The ability to pair it with Scannable— another favorite— and then convert my homework directly to a PDF saves my teachers and me a ton of time! I was snapping a picture of each page of my math assignment and then submitting every JPEG. Not only was it time consuming and tedious, but it looked terrible. With Evernote, I can scan all of my pages into one PDF document that my teacher can grade much more quickly and that I can submit much more easily. I especially love the Google Classroom feature that allows me to import Evernote PDFs directly to my assignments. My few requests are: 1. Allow ‘tabs’ within the notebooks. I have separate notebooks for each of my classes, but the ability to break down those notebooks even further into units or subjects would be awesome! 2. Allow importing to Canvas, Schoology, or other school apps. It would only improve this already incredible system! Thank you, Evernote, for making my life as a student and the lives of my teachers so much easier! Every student needs this app on their iPad or even phone, and I know it will be staying on mine.

Still worth it.. Yes, Evernote costs more now, and it came as a surprise. But Evernote has always been, now for fifteen years in my case, the absolute best ever app for keeping information, and crucially, to be able to find it again later. I need that information, and I need an easy way to store it and retrieve it. When I was finishing a book recently I needed to find news articles that I had clipped in 2009 from various newspapers. For a number of reasons those articles were no longer available anywhere, even archive sites. And, in any case, I didn’t remember exactly when they had been published, which wasn’t helping. But in Evernote an easy keyword search and I got everything, from the old web addresses to the page numbers of the print edition of the papers (that’s because of the PressReader integration with Evernote at the time — the best ever integration, something I miss almost every day). Evernote is a lifesaver.

Used Evernote since 2014 but no more. Everything everyone has recently said is true: Evernote is pushing loyal users away from their platform by implementing steep fees for features that have been free for over a decade, while also leaving their app in a buggy and incomplete state. My biggest issue is not that they now have a 50 notes/1 notebook limit for the free plan, it’s that they don’t let you move notes to one notebook without paying if you had exceeded that limit at time of upgrade. I had about 60 notes across 2 notebooks, so upon seeing the new limits, I just started deleting old, unused notes to get below 50 total. The problem came when I tried to move notes from the second notebook into the first so that I could reduce my usage to one notebook total: moving notes between notebook triggers the prompt to pay for service. This means that you cannot abide by their new limits if you had more than one notebook at time of the most recent update. Since Evernote is adopting underhanded and anti-consumer tactics to get money out of loyal users, I will be leaving the app. They have been aggressive in trying to squeeze money from users in the past, but now they have outright forced users to pay by holding a decade’s worth of work hostage with new limits. Ridiculous.

UI Overhaul on iOS is poorly tested. I have subscribed and used Evernote since 2008. The recent overhaul of the User Interface is lagging horribly. While I appreciate NEW, I kinda hate it as implemented. The sync technologies are so slow that if I get out of the screen showing the bot is synchronizing, it is causing conflict copies. This is stupid and careless. Your engineering department needs to think in terms of real world and not “in a perfect world”. It makes me more inefficient as a paying subscriber - over $1209 of my own money and helped drive revenue for them by showing endless clients and family friends this great tool. Please show your users respect by developing with integrity to what the USERS need and not what UI nor UX people want inside the business, but the USERS. Responsiveness, speed and sync are super important and this current revision of the Evernote system is much slower on my iPhone11 with no other apps running and tons of free space. It is really important engineering and product management do not always go with NEW programming in replacement of stable and reliable. “New” is third or forth importance compared to reliable syncing, drawing of the II in the app and indexing

Desktop App Needs Better Security. I absolutely love Evernote. I’ve been a premium member since 2012. One of my biggest complaints that they still have not addressed is the security issues. Specifically relating to the desktop app. The mobile version allows you to set a time that it automatically logs you out. Unfortunately, the desktop doesn’t. That leaves your content vulnerable to people who wish to access your content without your permission should you step away from your computer and forget to log out. Yes I know I could use a screensaver to achieve a similar layer of security but that blocks me from everything on my computer. I don’t know why this is possible on the mobile app but not in the desktop. Also, Evernote does not allow you to set additional layers of security for notes or notebooks. You can encrypt text in a note but it doesn’t save that password in an admin settings area. So if you forget or lose the password you lose access to your content. These are sloppy and unrefined security issue if you ask me. I believe Evernote should address these issues and by doing so it can add tremendous value to their overall product.

Was great, now have to pay to use. With the free plan I can only make one notebook and only have 50 notes. I have been using this app for well over two years by now, I write everything on this app, all my story’s, lists, and more. I’ve well exceeded past the 50 notebooks limit and it would take me awhile to even delete enough to make a new one. If you’re willing to pay money for a notes app then it’s for you, but I sadly have to go with the phones built in notes app now. It also has a problem of not saving what I write sometimes, once including an entire story ideas I had wrote in a bout of inspiration (and boredom during a roadtrip). I close the app and suddenly everything I wrote, well over 5k words, gone. And i had to pay to get access to previous versions of that particular note, which means that it had kept all those words I’d have written but deleted them when I closed the app. If I didn’t have to pay to use it now, It would be a 9/10, or 5 stars here. Now I’d say it’s a 3 out of ten. Especially with all the ads trying to get me to buy a subscription to it. It’s too buggy to be paid for, especially over $10 a month? For an app? Loved the layout and everything while I was here.

Found a fix for issue below. I’m not a paid user which means I’m allowed to have two devices connected to my account. I ONLY use my iPhone and MacBook. When I log into one and then try to log onto the second device, the second device says that I have to unsync a device to continue using it. If I’m logging in from my iPhone, Evernote will say that my MacBook and iPhone are already connected and that I need to remove one of them to use my iPhone.. Same thing happens when I log in from my MacBook. It’ll say my iPhone and MacBook are already connected and I’ll need to remove one of them to continue on my MacBook. I ONLY have two devices that I’ve ever connected to Evernote. For some reason, Evernote registers my devices as new ones every time I switch devices. I‘ve already used my two unsyncs this month and it’s only April 10th. Don’t be fooled — free users, you’re only allowed to use one device 🙄 I’ll be on the hunt for a replacement app. Edit: I found a fix! I logged onto Evernote through my web browser and revoked access to my “three” devices. Evernote will log you out of all devices and you’ll be able to sign in again. Not sure how how long this fix will last but for now, I’m able to use both my MacBook and phone. Edit 2: Evernote has confused my 2 devices as 3 again. I’ll be on the lookout for another app.

Missing basic features. I used to use Evernote as it had a system for my notes both personal and work related. I could store information that I needed to reference later, etc. However it is not what I consider to be a well rounded app. As no app that makes you have to use another is considered all that great. Not being able to create reoccurring reminders is just ridiculous. This is a very basic feature for a task app to have. I simply stopped using the app altogether because I had to use other sources to make tasks and be reminded of especially when they are monthly or weekly repeating. I even periodically login just to see if this feature has been added, it hasn’t. The app really needs updated to meet this basic need, and no emailing repeating tasks to the user is not sufficient at all. As not every one is on their email constantly some only check certain times a day based on their schedules. The whole point of having an app that features task or to do items is to have push notifications for you to get reminded of the task or even projects you need to get done. No one should have to go in and manually set them up for every single day when they are repeating.

This app and the desktop version are life-changing. I purchased Evernote back in September after struggling to find a note-taking system that met my needs in my current position for many months. I have about 25 customers, a ton of zoom meetings, and was actually just diagnosed with pretty significant adult ADHD after using it successfully for a few months. The desktop integration with my google corporate calendar on a Mac that automatically prompts me as a reminder to create a meeting note, then lists all of the date/time info and a task list and meeting note format is so critical to my daily work I’m not sure how I got by without it (I do believe that’s a paid feature). The ability to tag every note keeps me organized with very little effort. Being able to forward emails of importance into my notebooks is amazing. The task list with the reminder feature has become my lifeline. I used to be a huge OneNote fan, but I’m a lifelong Evernote user now. I’ve started using it to keep track of personal and family information as well, and I just can’t say enough good things. Absolutely well worth the money for the top-tier subscription in my case. Thank you to the developers!

Useful but imperfect. This is still the best app for my needs, but it has plenty of annoying quirks. I've used Evernote for many years, with over 100 notes covering everything from the grocery list to future work plans to my son's college search. I find it helpful having access to all of these notes from my Mac, iPad, and iPhone, and being able to share certain notes with specific family members or colleagues. None of its competitors offers the same combination of selective note sharing, table creation and editing, and text formatting. Yet there are still quirks. Newly edited notes take a surprising amount of time to be saved, or must be saved manually - if you aren't careful about this and the note is later edited in another device, new versions of the note are created or sometimes appended to the end of the current note without warning you. Evernote on the Mac can change the font in notes, but not on iOS, and sometimes routine copy/pasting on iOS results in text with bizarre fonts that can't be fixed on that device. The use of Apple Data Detectors also means that anything Evernote thinks might be a phone number or calendar event is highlighted like a clickable link - I wish this could be turned off.

Deadly flaw. Really loved Evernote until today. I have been using it every day since 2011 and have even considered upgrading to premium recently. However, today really changed my view of Evernote. Apparently have been getting sign ins from hackers in India and Ukraine for months and was never notified or warned. I’ve turned on 2 factor authentication now so in theory that will stop it, but I feel very taken advantage of. Probably they got whatever data they wanted to get already since they’ve been signing in repeatedly from all over the globe. Apparently this is also a common issue from what I’ve read online in the last 30 minutes. So if you’re reading this, check your sign in history because up until today I was never notified. Even though I’ve loved it for a long time I’m thinking about switching to OneNote where I’m fairly confident the notifications and security settings are more professional. I’ve always noticed some annoying bugs and UI problems that I was willing to overlook but now I’m realizing that some of the laziness in design philosophy may actually be dangerous, and at least for me it’s an unforgivable problem. Update: i keep coming back to use it for little things I haven’t fully transferred. Every single time you open it you get a banner to upgrade or buy something. Every. Single. Time. It really interrupts the flow of thinking.

Extremely unreliable. Disregard for user habits. I have been a loyal customer with 9000+ notes and 5+ years of premium subscription. The recent overhaul has introduced so many bugs and ridiculous design failures which are forcing me to consider alternative services. Sync has become extremely unreliable; I’ve had my edits wiped out by sync failures. As of now, Evernote isn’t letting me move my notes to different notebooks, due to some inexplicable bug. Very helpful features that provide flexibility to working on and organizing notes have been eliminated, I guess in the name of tidiness: opening multiple main windows, changing the created date (so helpful for arranging the notes in the order I want), magnifying the words in the editing window (which now cannot be done without magnifying everything else, making it unreasonably cumbersome to operate the sidebar). Then there are countless bugs throughout the software that keeps giving you frustrating surprises. The recent major upgrade demonstrates the team's disregard for the working habits of established users, and also raises concerns about quality control. In so many respects the new version simply isn't ready, and it's unclear to me why the company would be in a rush to release an update. An option for reverting to the older version would be much, much appreciated. Right now, I do not recommend Evernote to any new user. The company has demonstrated its inability to deliver a consistent and reliable product.

Keep dropping notes. So for months now my notes will simply stop being saved, without any warning, on the ipad. It’s gotten so bad that I have to regularly copy/paste whatever I am writing into Apple notes because its 50/50 chance that I will completely lose text that I type into the evernote note when I finish the note and click the checkmark. This is true for my iPad and iPhone (both bought new in 2021, and fully updated), and on both I am connected to the internet and also have the relevant notebooks downloaded for offline use. It’s been so consistently bad that I (a premium user for nearly a decade) have been looking to transfer all my notes to a different service because I am doubting I can trust Evernote anymore with basic requirements (like not deleting basic text entry) on their iOS apps. Many other people have this exact problem, and have for months, and the failure of Evernote to address this basic problem implies that either Evernote is unable or unwilling to provide absolute basic functionality. Simply put, if this is not fixed soon, I will migrate to another service.

The new interface is everything I’ve always wanted!. I’ve had Evernote since forever, and I have tons of stuff stored there. Occasionally I can actually find my things..but the chaos is my fault, because I’ve just dumped stuff in there and never organized it well. But the new home page interface does it all. I am truly impressed. It appears to work well cross-platform so I’m going to have at least one of my devices to open to the Evernote home page. It’s logical, visual, lets you look at and rationalize the information you have collected or uploaded, and lets you make notes on the fly that can help you understand exactly why you put that mysterious document there and if you really had anything in mind when you did it... Reading about the new Evernote, I found that some people make a journal entry or note a day and file it on Evernote, along with any relevant photos, etc. So I’m going to try that next...in the meantime, congratulations to the Evernote folks on taking a good program and making it great! They have really followed up and realized the potential of Evernote.

App going downhill. I’ve used Evernote for years, but lately thinking of switching. Major issues: (1) search function used to be awesome t has been getting worse and worse; lately it is missing simple matches such as plural vs singular, incorrect spellings etc. with all the text matching tech available today there is no excuse for this poor level of word matching. (2) I store all my recipes in the app and a super common use case is to create list from a recipe and or switch between 2 or more recipes that I am making at the same time; Evernote behavior for both of these is very time-wasting. On my phone c every time I switch away from Evernote (to add some items to the shopping list) when I return to the recipe it starts me back at the top of the recipe again. Since many of my recipes are clipped from the web the actual recipe text may be V long due to clipping issues- so I may have to scroll 4-5-6 or more screens to get back to the list of ingredients. There’s just no excuse for losing y view location when I switch to another app for less than a minute. And most other apps are able to keep my view with no problem- for example e-commerce sites with long pages of product lists. In short Evernote should get the basics right before advanced “recommended items “ features that I don’t find particularly useful.

Recent update glitch. The most recent update is stressing me out. Every note I make doesn’t auto save correctly and it’s erasing over half of my work. Internet connection is strong so I know it’s not an issue, it’s specifically auto updating after I’ve already saved my work and closed out after it shows it’s saved, so its erasing my work to a previous file on the cloud when I open it again. Stuff I save at 7am will auto update at 10:30am erasing half my stuff, even if I’m just opening a new note or a different project. Complete stress inducer when I have deadlines! I’m now copying my work to save it in another cloud system when I’m done here, which kinda makes this feel like a pointless subscription unless I just save it in Evernote and write it elsewhere. I’ve never had this problem, ever, as a 6 yr sub member jumping from four different devices in the same 15 minutes with no issues ever. Now it’s stressful! I love my options in Evernote compared to other online digital storage for writers. I’m on an iPad Air2 fully updated, T-Mobile service, please help! I don’t have issues accessing or saving writing on my other devices, only when I use this device app. Will update my review to reflect any resolved bug updates🙏🏻

Wonderful app—watch consistency limited and spotty.. Love the app. Interface is amazing. Connectivity superb. However, there are only 20 spaces for notes available on the watch, and when you have 200 or so, that’s just not convenient. Also, though I have not submitted a customer service request and that may negate many individuals opinions and the value they place in this review, this is something that has manifested through multiple Apple Watch updates: the app on the watch will simply open up and show no notes. None whatsoever. I have tried syncing the app, I have tried updating the app, closing the app on the watch and phone and restarting both the watch and the phone...no dice. Definitely a minute bug that could be fixed and bring the Evernote app up to full potential. That and expand the number of notes available on the watch and make the search feature more effective as it has never found a note I was looking for when I used the voice command. But again, love the app, LOVE the app, just a few tweaks and we’re golden.

Why’d you have to break it. I’ve been an Evernote Premium user for around 6 years now. With the current version it’s incredibly difficult to navigate (try and find how to full-screen your note if you’ve started typing on iPad), the search feature is all over the place, the notes don’t sync well between devices (I’ve actually lost notes), it’s slow now, etc. Then for a recent trip I offlined a handful of notebooks - turned off my wifi and closed & opened the app to make sure I could access the notes and it worked as it should. Next day I arrive to the National Park to camp without reception and of course EVERNOTE CANNOT LOAD ANY OF MY OFFLINED NOTEBOOKS. Honestly at this point Apple Notes is better than this paid app... if it’s not fixed soon I’m out. Every update I’ve been more and more disappointed in the broken features! I even joined the beta team to try and help provide feedback but that too was a waste of time. UPDATE: Despite paying for Evernote Premium, I was just notified I have to subscribe to the new service or cannot access my Evernote on multiple devices. I’m not even getting the service I paid for because they have a new plan….

Terrible Update. I’m a long-time Evernote user, and I use the app across multiple devices. I rely on it to organize notes and recipes, and also to track bookmarked articles that I want to reference later. The most recent iOS update has made the app completely unusable. Every action is painfully slow. It crashes often. And then when I finally get a note open (like a recipe, for example), if I switch between Evernote and another app, then Evernote completely restarts and I lose my place and have to search for the note again. This happens even if I switch apps for less then a minute. On top of that, I use Evernote primarily to bookmark webpages, not to clip them. When I open up a note, it’s unclear how to force the app to take me to the original webpage. Sometimes if I tap the note to edit it, Evernote launches its embedded browser (which is ridiculously slow). But other times when I tap the note, it goes into editing mode and there aren’t any options to navigate to the original webpage. I use Evernote to reference recipes several times a week, and I had to stop using my phone for that task. Instead, I search for the recipe using Google on my laptop because it’s faster. Obviously that totally defeats the purpose of having an app on my phone. I’ve never written an App Store review before, but I’m so disappointed in this update that I felt compelled to post something. Evernote is a great product, but this is a terrible app.

No customer service. So I've been using Evernote for over three years now and I really do love some of its features. However, two things really grind my gears. 1) When they changed to basic free accounts vs. paid upgrade accounts, we lost the ability to access on all devices as they limited basic users to two devices. I have it on my phone & laptop, so I can't have the app on my tablet. So I tried to access through the browser on my tablet and it wasn't "formatted" for that kind of access. Now it just forces you to the app store. Beyond irritating. 2) There's ZERO customer service. As a basic user, your only option is the user forum which has too many posts to read, and it's just users - not Evernote help desk. So how some rando user is supposed to answer my account-specific issue is beyond me. Not only that, but from what I see in the forums from paid users, Evernote takes weeks to respond to inquiries, if at all. So what's the point of upgrading to paid service? I don't understand how they run a successful user-based business without supporting the users. It's really disappointing because when functioning properly, it's a great product.

Steadily getting worse. I've been a paying Evernote customer for many years with a lot of my stuff in there but as time has gone on it's been more and more frustrating to use. Attachments won't download. Or you wait 5 minutes while it "says" it is downloading then gets done and nothing happens. Photos won't show. Try to bring up some reference document while you are working on something and every time your phone times out the app just can't seem to handle it and won't just leave the document/note open you were looking at - you start all over - search for the document AGAIN, wait for it to come up, etc. Search inexplicably can't find things where the title or tag has the exact word in it I'm searching for. And there have been times where I have REALLY needed to get to particular piece of information and just couldn't. That is extremely frustrating - that's the point of why I put stuff in there. This product started out awesome in the days when everyone was still using desktops. As we've progressed into to mobile era it just hasn't kept up. Trying to access my stuff in the phone app is a frustrating experience almost every time - and trying to use the site in a mobile browser is worse. I haven't put anything new in for quite some time because it just no longer fits well or just doesn't work simply with how I do things anymore in the mobile era, let alone the fact that the app in general just doesn't work well.

Maybe time to switch. I have been using Evernote for probably ten years. A couple years ago when it started to limit two devices, I tolerated since two devices are mostly enough. Once in a long while when I need to use a third device just to take a random note, I’d go to website and do it there. Unfortunately yesterday when attempted to do so, I found web version is counting as a device and being limited as well. I don’t really want to complain since I’ve used the free service for that many years. I understand the need to monetize otherwise the company will just die. However, there are so many alternatives which do exact the same in slightly different ways, but free and probably better performance. I think Evernote have missed the best time to grow revenue. Or has it ever figured out the best way to make money? Ads, selling goods, anybody remember Evernotes selling socks? Forcing users to buy or harassing users with premium upgrades are suboptimal business practice. Maybe it’s time for me to explore other options and start to switch. I’m afraid that one day Evernote is going to limit users to one device, and eventually die to competition. Sad but this is a brutal market.

Touchy app that fails to save updates to my notes. I listen to nutrition podcasts and jot down notes on episodes. 1) the cursor often spazzes out and moves my text to the end of note without warning (which I can maybe blame on my iPhone screen I guess, don’t know how, it’s a clean, newish phone…) and 2) my notes won’t save! They revert constantly to previous versions. Despite me being extra careful and hitting the checkmark, closing the app and only having it open on one device at a time. I just spent 30 mins wrestling the cursor on two separate notes and the app decided to save only part of my initial draft of both. Makes it almost unusable. Just a bummer that they’re gonna charge people to use a glorified Apple Notes app that gives me like two more abilities than the free app (and I can’t even post saved videos?). If it were free I wouldn’t be wasting my time giving it a negative review but the gall you have to have to charge people for such a user-unfriendly experience is why I’m wasting more of my time being negative here.

Bring back native Dark Mode and fix time outs. Longtime Pro user of Evernote and love it. It’s great for my dream journal and all the other notes I need to take as well. I just really wish you didn’t get rid of native dark mode in the app. I like using dark mode in Evernote regardless of what my iPhone is doing. It is just much easier on my eyes and I’ve been using it that way forever. I’ve seen similar requests in the reviews to bring it back, and it really doesn’t seem like a big deal to do. Please consider it, it was a great touch and details like that matter when you’ve been using them forever. Also the app times out MUCH quicker now. I have also seen many others annoyed about this in the reviews. I, too, will be doing research in another app or browser, and quickly move back and forth between that and Evernote to make notes. It used to be no problem, but after these last updates, it essentially times out immediately upon shifting from Evernote to a different app. Coming back to Evernote, it might not have even saved what I had just written and it’s back to the top. Please fix this! I’ll gladly change my rating to 5 stars once these bugs and features are fixed. Please listen to your customers or they’ll start moving to the competitors who do.

OneNote with frills to a cash drain. Evernote has always offered good product with respectable service. I started using it about 10 years ago, and for ~half of that time, I used the free version and it was just fine. Then, the day came when I had built up so many notebooks that to keep them all side by side required scrolling. As soon as I’d paid off my student debts, I got the paid version, which allowed stacking notebooks, so I could hide notebooks not necessary at the moment. It cost on the order of $50, rather steep, but I could live with that. I continued to recommend Evernote to others, because the free plan gave me so much for so many years. Then they hiked the price to more than $150, as if the equivalent of OneNote with a whole lot of frills was equivalent in value to the entire Office suite. I stayed for a couple more years, trusting that they were still giving the same free plan, but now I learn that the free plan has been stripped down to 1 notebook with only 50 notes! Evernote is trying to take the attitude of big tech - “We offer you such complete service, give us your business and you won’t need to go anywhere else for anything.” Sorry, that’s not a respectable attitude. I’m looking somewhere else.

Horrible Update and User Interface. Update: Tired of Constantly getting Duplicate Conflict Errors in my Notes!! Update: Now the App Note Page Won’t close to save my Notes that I Type in! I have to copy them, close the app, open the app, and then paste them back in! Absolutely Horrible! Still using Paid Version! How can this be worse after my last bad review?!?!?! Older Review: I have used Evernote for as long as I can remember. Always paid version. Now it’s so bloated and unusable due to this “Read Only” and “Edit” issue. Also trying to simply track down my notes in order of “Recently Updated” to a big mess of searching for a simple note quickly. I Will have to start looking for a replacement app. Such a shame. I really don’t want to have to transfer all of my years of Notes and Material. But I will have to if the developers do not go back to a simple, dependable, and User Friendly note app. Update: Developers are not reading our reviews or ignoring them. Very disappointed. You can scroll through all the most recent reviews and see how disgruntled customers are with new updates. Please read and pay attention to our feedback. No customers equals no business.

I can’t take it any more. I’ve been using the free version this app for years and used to love it but it’s seems like the developers are getting desperate. I used to be able to use it on my pc, iPad and iPhone for free, but now it wants me to sign up to premium to keep using the third device. Every time I open the app they make me click through a 40% off sale banner. Limited time only? Not really! And even at 40% off, it’s really expensive for what you get - Google Keep does everything I want for free, so I’ve just moved my notes to there. Bye Evernote, you used to be great.

Crashes all the time lately on iOS. Seems like the writing is on the wall for this company. I got in with them at ground zero and they were great. Even was a premium user for a while. But The app bloat goes up and up and the reliability down and down. Seems it’s getting close to not even providing their original service. Perhaps they need a new CEO. BTW fixed the crashing issue with a full delete and reinstall. So they get an extra star for that.

Terrible. Has to be the worst update to an app I have ever seen. Use to love Evernote now it’s slow, buggy the UI is hard to navigate. It’s so slow. Can’t encrypt large amounts of texts anymore. I’m a premium user for the last 8 years so I’ve used it a lot. I’d say the programmers are to blame but the managers letting this get through are even worse. The only thing stopping me from changing is the legacy app for PC. Once this is removed I’ll change to another app. If they read these reviews they would want to revert to the older version before people leave in droves ... if it isn’t happening already.

Ms. I have been using and recommending this app. for years and was about to upgrade. However, I updated my Evernote app yesterday and now the app is crashing whenever I open it. I can’t access my notes and work and am becoming quite worried. My iPad is running on IOS 13.3, so it is within the recommenced running software. I use the notebook for everything and in particular, to hold my artistic listings for my online jewellery shows. I can’t work without access to it. Any suggestions?

Infuriatingly Slow!. When you want to take a note fast, Evernote will let you down. After starting the app it freezes while the sync takes about 30 seconds to complete and the entire UI is frozen. And then when you press that plus button to create a note it can take over a minute for the spinner to go away as its checking for your templates (of which I have none). This really hurts your enthusiasm for taking notes as it feels like it’s punishing you for starting it. Compare with the speed of Apple’s built in notes app.

Downhill tragedy of an app. This used to be the best app around. And I used to pay the subscription, but now that subscription is getting absurdly expensive as well as more and more features moving from premium to their higher tiers subscriptions, so got over it and switched to the free version and accepted the limited devices. Then they just keep removing more and more features from the free version as well now. Even when I was paying it was getting ridiculous how often pop ups to go to a higher tier sub was becoming. In the free tier it is littered with it. Banners at the top every time you touch a note ‘upgrade now’ adds that take several presses to remove. Whoever is in charge of this company making these moronic decisions needs to to be kicked in the head.

It’s alright. It’s a note app that requires a subscription for fancy functions, it does what it needs to mostly, however some things just break it that really shouldn’t, I keep duplicating my notes 5 times by checking off parts of my to do list, which shouldn’t happen, and god forbid I try to copy last tuesdays list to a note for next Tuesday, everything breaks and crashes- it’s good when it works but the crashing is just too much, I’m not sure what the cause is but it’s soo frustrating

Crashing and refreshing. I have an iPhone 6 Plus using iOS 12. The old version of Evernote and the new update refreshes the page every time I switch between apps. For example, if I am working on a note, but need to check an email regarding some points, when I return to the Evernote note refreshes the page to ‘all notes’. I have to find my notebook, and then my note and open it again every time. This has still not been fixed and is very time consuming and frustrating. Why can’t it remember my place? The app often crashes when finding notebooks or looking for notes. It’s very unstable.

Not just an ordinary note taking app.. I’m been using the free version of the app for several years. Just the basic level was great for organising my notes. Since i upgraded to the monthly paid version... “Awesome” would be the one word I would use to describe Evernote! The ability to connect, tag and search through your research and find all you notes on a specific subject is very useful. Also searching words through photos of documents is extremely helpful which makes collecting useful information quickly has taken my researching and writing to a whole new level. I should paid taken the paid version a long time ago! Thank you Evernote Team!!!

Overly good. Some recent issues.. Use all the time. Especially good for study and having reference notes. Plus sharing notebooks between peers. Recently issues with syncing between computer and iPhone resulting in notes not updated and multiple notes. This is a big issue as it’s why I chose Evernote. Also sharing is a great feature but often clunky. Also too expensive now. Will likely not update subscription.

You can’t bug the app for free users. I understand that to make a profit you need to charge for a premium version. I like the format of the app, I enjoy the improvements made, but I see no need to pay premium for my uses. However recently the app have glitched and seems to be bugged. I constantly need to re launch it because I can only have access to the ‘View Only’ option to content I type and create… Please fix it or I’ll have to just resort to apple notes which is looking quite favourable at this moment

Scam and unreliable. This has to be the most “scam like” software crowd. How do you send an email with up dated ts & cs on a Friday and then deactivate the account 2 days later with no warning. It was a teams account and won’t let me reactivate with 1 seat. Checking to see when account was paid to so I can register a complaint to my bank. All my docs and notes have gone where exactly???? What a joke and an unreliable solution…looking for alternatives now. No support online to raise the issue without logging in (deactivated remember) and makes me add a new email account - not today Evernote - smells like a scam to me !!

Can’t use anymore :(. I have always really liked the way this app allows you to organise notes, but without paying for the really unaffordable subscription (I would choose a one off payment if I could) it has slowly become sort of unusable. It often glitches and creates multiple copies of notes, or freezes and deletes whole notes without backing them up (all of this while consistently connected to Wifi). Now you are only allowed 1 notebook and 50 notes, which I have obviously already exceeded given I was using it for all my study and work documents. Going to start transferring them to another app :(

App‘s LOADING. have been using Evernote for years and it always works well, however, recently I can’t use it as normal as a loading page always pops up when I opened my documents. I don’t know what is that page (might be upgrade notice) since it keeps loading, for hours! And I couldn’t close it or go back to the previous page. Have tried to relaunch the app but didn’t help, basically the app was not working because of this problem.

Needs improvement. Good app for sharing notes, but I’m continually frustrated by the inability to synch between devices. We paid for a subscription to get more devices added so my husband could add to the shopping list but every time it does it duplicates the note and causes more issues than it solves. I’ll be downgrading from the paid version because it’s not worth it. If you offer multiple devices and synching it needs to be able to cope with it not continually glitch.

Lost work. I spent hours working and writing out notes in Evernote and unfortunately when I opened it on my second device none of it had been saved. When I went back to my first device it had reverted to the earlier version because I had opened it on a different device. It’s quite frustrating if the program won’t sync and it becomes unreliable / lose hours of work because of this malfunction. There is also no history to be able to see previous versions 8’ order to retrieve lost work.

Disappointed since changes made. I’ve used Evernote for many years. But I haven’t needed to use the paid version for what I do. They recently changed free subscription to have one notebook and 50 notes. I have one notebook with 24 notes but it won’t let me add any more without paying for it. Tried contacting Evernote a month ago with no response. Not only that, I now get a pop up to pay to subscribe nearly every time I open the app, sometimes two or three times in a row. And since all of this, the app is glitchy for the first time ever. Keeps flicking me out of editing to top of note. 2 months ago I would have given 5 star rating.

Unable to use. The app keeps promping me "Note Size Limit". I cannot even check my previous notes, nor can I delete any unused notes to squeeze more space. The app is actually forcing me to upgrade. And the most annoying thing is that it does not even show the upgrade options on the "Note Size Limit" page. The page is blank all the time and I cannot use or upgrade after I open the app. I have used this app for years and have saved quite a lot of important info in it. And now I have no access to these info and cannot export them to anywhere else. Really frustrating and disappointed!

Poorly save articles from news app. I read a lot of news, magazines, reviews, opinion pieces everyday and thought Evernote would be a perfect app to help me archive the things I read, similar to the WebClipper function on computer. Turn out it is not the case. After adding the articles to Evernote using the add-on function to iPhone, when I open my archive, only the first paragraph of each article was saved! Not to mention the format of the saved article is very messy. This is in huge contrast to the performance of WebClipper add-on. Very disappointing. Since I only use Evernote on my iPhone to archive the articles, from now on, I don’t think I gonna use it again until it’s fixed.

Disappointing. Bought the pro version on advice of a colleague, and while it’s good for some things, this isn’t a good shopping list (or any kind of “on the go” list) app. The page reloads every time you look at it so it’s painfully slow. I also use this for work and it’s fine, aside from all the “multiple versions of this note” clashes (assume due to a synching issue with the latest update). That means I’m often having to compare duplicates of the same not to make sure nothing is lost. These are the fundamental basics of a note taking app and seem to have been lost as the developers add more and more other features to lure more paid subscriptions. Honestly, if I could get a refund and change apps, I would.

Once was great, increasingly becoming a debacle. I’ve used EN for about 10 years and have hundreds of notebooks and thousands of note in it. It’s great for multimedia note and the synchronisation across desktop app, web browser and iOS but it is increasingly full of bugs and I try to avoid any updates as it’s lost functionality, increasingly crashes or freezes, loses attachments to notes or just ‘spins’. It’s a real shame to see what was a highly functional and useful tool become a bug ridden mess in the past year; all whilst the subscription cost has skyrocketed. Their customer support is a joke and usually only respond with a vague generic response pointing the online forums for answers. I’m yet to find a single app that has all of the functionality of EN had but given the unreliability of EN and the data I’ve been losing, I scan the alternatives every few weeks in hope.

Packed with features - but lacks in the absolute basic. This app is very feature rich (as I'm sure you can see in the description). But for me it's constantly failed the fundamental feature a notes app has - saving notes. It is ridiculous how often I've had to triple check if a note actually saved, or if it synced properly. So this app is not ideal if it's for quickly saving things to remember on the go. Edit: Popups, popups and more popups. Also, now they've resorted to limiting you to 1 notebook and 50 notes if you don't pay. Good bye OneNote.

How has it gotten worse. I’ve had and used Evernote for years at this point, because I found it to be a good note-keeping app. I’ve even upgraded to premium a few times. I did not like the change to the whole subscription-based model, but that’s fine. What’s not fine is how the app has somehow gotten worse since. I only have evernote on my iphone and my ipad, with most use on the phone and very infrequent on the ipad. Cross-device syncing isn’t the issue. But every now and again the app makes multiple MULTIPLE copies when I make a new note, because of syncing problems? I tolerated that, because whatever, I can just delete the half a dozen extra copies. What has genuinely p*ssed me off now is I had typed out a note the previous night and today it’s gone. I didn’t delete it, it’s not in the trash folder, and I even saw it as a thumbnail on the main page under ‘recent notes’ until it just. Disappeared. It wasn’t a short note, it was a draft for something I’m working on and now it’s gone into the ether because ???? How are you going to pester people to pay subscription for your note app yet decrease in quality like this while you do. Yeah, no, I’m not happy.

New home screen forced to keep. Always loved evernote and used it for nearly ten years. with a new update there came a new home screen, which I would like to edit to turn off the new features as not needed. And now I cannot even turn these off or change or remove that awful image that evernote automatically set up (got to look at it every time am opening the app) plus am asked to pay for the new features I don’t even want to use! I am already paying a membership and find the additional charge for an imposed home screen lousy.

Mac version has a bug on Sonoma 14.1. The time for reminders on MacOS App version is different to iPhone and iPad Version. Mac version of Evernote shows time as 1 Hour earlier than what is set on iPhone and iPad? All settings have been checked and it is a definite bug. Hey, Evernote how about you bring in 24 Hour Time Reminder capability across all of your apps? Currently, I have my Mac and iPhone/iPad set with a 24 Hour clock but on Evernote you have to use AM/PM time. FYI - I have the latest version of your app and latest software updates on my devices. Otherwise your app is great !!

Highly Efficient Note-Taking App. This application stands out as a top choice for note-taking, providing all the fundamental features required for effective note management. Its user-friendly interface and robust functionality make it ideal for organizing and keeping track of important information. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a reliable and efficient note-keeping solution.

Worth every penny.. I’ve been a paid Evernote subscriber since 2018 and it has been well worth the investment. The amount of time and energy that Evernote’s developers have poured into this app is next level. They are constantly updating, innovating, and improving it and it is a pleasure to use. I love the new tasks feature in particular and the new dashboard. I can’t wait until there are more widget options, but I’m sure they will be right around the corner. Thank you so much for everything you do, Evernote team. I really appreciate it.

Basics, but not feeling the innovation. I have been a die hard Evernote fan for years, and run my life out of it. I feel like I’ve been waiting for a couple years now for Evernote to pick up it’s game, and I just havent experiences that yet. Ie. changing the default folder on new Notes. I’ve since moved three companies and it’s an annoying extra step to change folders. I just don’t do it, and files are getting messier Ie. the “check your internet connection - your not connected to the server” I’m online, and everything else works accept Evernote. this has been going on for months now. This is the final straw for me - I can’t access my Christmas shopping list, I’m at the mall and I’m literally guessing by memory right now, and this is my last day of Christmas shopping before I leave to another country. Isn’t this what Evernote is suppose to do? Sorry for the rant. Just being honest because it has been so long. I will be giving Notion a try, as I’ve now had two recommendations for it from organised people that I trust.

Awesome improvement!. Wow, this new version is such a leap forward. I had almost given up on Evernote after the recent versions seemed to be getting worse and worse, especially with losing the place in the app each time it opens, long screen refreshes, etc. The new version looks great, is snappy, responsive and no crazy refreshes when switching back to it from another app or waking the iPad. Looks like the rewrite paid off!

Farewell. I had been using the app for 15 years, finally the new update forced me to stop using it as I can’t create new note anymore because I’m way past the 50 notes limit. I was a premium paying customer in good portion of those years, but I found for most times the features were overkill for someone who isn’t a power user. I hope Evernote will consider a better subscription pricing for more casual users like me, but for now I guess it’s time to download all my notes and move them elsewhere before they too decide to bar me from accessing them.

Used to be brilliant - now essentially useless. I have loved Evernote for years, recommended it to absolutely everyone and currently PAY for premium. This is a MASSIVE waste of money as it now does not work at all on mobile- I cannot access or download any of my saved PDFs through my phone, which is incredibly frustrating as it renders the service fairly useless to me unless I’m strapped to my laptop. Incredibly disappointed with this app- especially as I have now paid my year subscription up front and can now barely use it. Don’t bother downloading until they sort this ridiculous issue out.

Best app for note taking purpose. I love it, this is best app for note taking, imagine you have a diary of thousands of notes and you want to quickly get answer to your questions, that's when AI function comes in to stage, where you can ask question and it can look into your thousands of pages notes and provide you with answer. Keep it up guys I believe in your team and I will keep continuing with the professional subscription

Improving constantly. OK so I have now tried moving to OneNote, Bear, DevonThink, Obsidian and Craft — and all I have learned is a little more respect for Evernote. Each of the others does something better than Evernote (especially Craft which has nice editing and web publishing and notion which has cool tables that actually do stuff) But none of them do everything that Evernote does. So will be sticking with Evernote for a little more of the journey and hope it picks up the best features of the rest .. (especially notion tables) Evernote is still the only place that does everything in one app. For context - premium user for almost 10 years with thousands of notes .... using iPad Pro and MacBook (and nearly switched to another notes app ...)

Long time user - upgrade ruined my workflow. I have been using Evernote for 12 years and this new update has completely changed my whole workflow. Extremely disappointing and time consuming. Here are my notes so far: emailing note becomes problematic - uses link only and not active Active link for serial number not the same Application suddenly quits often Tag shortcut not working - goes to the entire notebook when looking at detail Workchat Scrolls down the entire chat before getting to the dialog line Cant copy a chat to paste details Sorting Notes sort somehow?? Want newest on top. Sort by updated not available on tag search eg my active shortcut Help suggests to use the Sort by option in the ... menu - no such thing! Sometimes iphone notes wont open in the list have to quit app and reopen Moving notes from one notebook to another doesn’t work well Scanning business cards involves more steps - doesn’t take own photo then have to choose how to save Notebook searching - can’t open the notebook from search Different devices have different shortcuts

Developed to Death. I was a long time subscriber as it suited me but the annual fee became too expensive for the limited service as more features were added but didn’t enhance functionality. Moving back to the free version they have now removed the basic web access from any devices other than the two approved devices. This smacks of greed and almost blackmail - keeping users paying to have all their notes if they’re using another device. Very poor form Evernote, keep this up and you won’t be around much longer.

Good but needs update. A great app for across the Apple ecosystem. The hand writing recognition is phenomenal. As is the organisation. However the app needs the following improvements: a) updated PDF annotation with Apple Pencil. It’s currently clunky and not very seamless. Competitors do a much better job. If you use Apple Pencil, I’d look elsewhere for a note taking app for uni. My pick is notability. b) to actually integrate and preview PDFs like on the Mac version. The iPad version requires you to open pdf files, view and edit them, and then close them again. Again, very clunky. If you’re trying to find something fast, it’s hard to do on iPad. Apps like Onenote do better here

BEWARE. EDIT: twice this week, work on my iPad has been completely and utterly lost. It hasn’t automatically saved. It’s not synced across devices, it’s crashed and the whole lot has been lost. Twice. Evernote has gotten more and more frustrating in a myriad of little ways over the years; chunky, not clean flowing when closing and opening the app and returning to documents I’m working on etc. But the new update isn’t giving the shortcuts when hard pressing the screens on my new iPhone SE. And I just lost about 21/2 hours of work on the iPad version because it wasn’t automatically saving my info, then froze... you’re killing me Evernote. I’m giving it till the end of the year, but I’m not hopeful. Argh!

Great until they got greedy. I use notes a lot. Mostly text, occasionally with photos included. That, and multiple notebooks/sections, and a search function, was all I needed. When I exported them migrating away from Evernote, I found I had accumulated about 400 of them over about 14 years. Evernote was great. I used the free version because the paid versions never added anything I needed. Then they restricted the paid version to 50 notes, and I thought ok they’ll get some money out of me. 30-odd dollars a year would be about right. But not what Evernote is charging: for that price, my whole family gets all of Microsoft 365 and 1TB storage each. So I went for OneNote which I’m paying for anyway. Microsoft’s cross-platform support has got quite good over the past 14 years.

Pathetic grab. I am appalled. I love the idea of Evernote and have used it for many years. But today is the final straw. They offered a free version. So I have been using their free version. And for a long time now I have been disregarding their continual offers for a paid upgrade. I only use the app for storing recipes and web clippings. But I was consistently hounded to upgrade. Recently I was told to unsync a device as I had all my tablets, phone and computers using this app. To day I was told I could only use two devices. Really? I get that an app should make money. So don’t offer it for free. I am not paying for the way I use this app. I do not utilise all its functions. So why not limit some of its functions for non paying users.?Why not use advertising to gain income? Why not offer a once only cost for the app? I refuse to pay a subscription so I can check a recipe once every few months. I love how this app works but I detest the ongoing greed that forces people like myself with non-commercial or non- professional uses to pay professional subscriptions for the benefits of use. They have lost sight of the people that made this app so successful in the first place.

Getting bloated, expensive.. I’ve been a very heavy user of Evernote since 2013. I use it for everything from my daily list of things to do, right through to strategic planning for boards I run. But to be honest I probably only use it because I have hundreds of notes and the cost of changing is too high. The reality is that these days Evernote is more bloated and complicated than it needs to be. And it’s of course much more expensive that Google Docs which in reality does the same thing. (I don’t think that was available back in 2013!!) I’ll probably continue to use, but I no longer encourage others to like I used to.

How to take a nice simple app and ruin it through greed and complexity. I’ve been using this for 10 years, and I’ve watched it decline in functionality over time as they’ve tried to add features - which only serve to make it harder to do the simple things, and then force me to pay for them. The most recent update is the final straw, every time I open the app - it spams me with a full screen aggressive advertisement for the paid product, all I want to do is add something to my grocery list dudes. I actually was a paid subscriber for about 5 years and the experience doesn’t get any better, trust me. It was always ‘upgrade this and that.’ Note taking apps should not cost you money. It is the most basic form of app. These guys should have stopped developing 5 years ago and moved onto something else

I love it, but you took away one of its best features!. Evernote is a very useful tool and is professionally designed with lots of functionality. I was happy to move to the subscription model in recognition of the work done by the developer. However, I was quite disappointed to see the removal of one of its best features - the ability to quickly create a Table of Contents. Yes, I know it's still possible to make one, but it's a tedious process compared to the original, to the point where I no longer take the time to keep it up to date. PLEASE, PLEASE, give serious consideration to reinstating the TOC feature, especially since most of us are paying for the App now.

Epic Failure on Multiple Levels. I have been an Evernote Premium subscriber for about eight years. BUT!!! For a couple of weeks now, I have not been able to access my Evernote app!! Despite my Evernote account ‘and’ bank account ‘clearly’ showing that I ‘have’ renewed my monthly subscription (good up to 15 Oct 2020), the Evernote app on all of my devices kicks me out of my notes and consistently takes me to the splashscreen telling me to ‘upgrade’ to Premium!! To add further insult to injury, I have just received an email from Evernote telling me that they ‘want me back in Premium’ and that they will give me a 40% discount off the yearly subscription if I ‘come back’!!! I have written a number of emails to Evernote via their website, but, as yet, ‘ZERO’ response from anyone!! Further insult in all of this is that, because my account refuses to recognise me as a paid-up Premium subscriber, I can not even utilise the ‘chat’ facility on the Evernote website!! So, the bottom-line is that I ‘have’ paid my ‘Premium’ subscription renewal, but am treated as a ‘Basic’ account holder!!; I have emailed Evernote for support, but have ‘not’ heard back regarding any form of support!!; and, ultimately, I am unable to access the notes I save into Evernote - which pretty much ‘defeats’ the purpose of investing into the app!! Considering the years of loyalty I have invested into the app/company, I am ‘deeply’ disappointed by the ‘TOTAL’ lack of support!!

Great but sometimes frustrating. I love Evernote, I use it everyday, but I find it frustrating that every time I switch between the Evernote app or another app on my phone, whatever note I was looking at has closed and the app has basically reset and I have to search for, and open the note all over again. This is especially frustrating when I’m presenting, using Evernote for my notes. If you guys could fix this so when I flip back or even when I reopen Evernote it would show me the note I was last on, I would give it 5 stars.

good until one incident. the app was all good in the beginning, working fine, no bugs and i had no issues but then super recently i was adding progress pictures onto something and i had been putting daily progress pictures on for nearly 3 months and then all of a sudden it said: “note size too big, saving error” or something along the lines of that. the next thing i know i click on the note after i refresh and none of the progress pictures were there. i thought “oh well i can refresh it because it will only not save the picture i just put in and that will be fine because i still have the photo on my photos app” but no, it deleted everything. every single progress photo just because my note was big. overall i would say the app is good or you could even say great but that incident really made me incredibly sad that i had lost all of my progress images as i do not keep them in my photos app for storage limitation purposes. from a 4.5 to a 3.

Almost makes me want to uninstall. I want to start by saying I have been a loyal Evernote user since its conception; I have always loved it and never had an issue (although I wasn't a fan when they limited the free version app use to only two devices, but I got over it). Since the "all-new exciting look" upgrade I've had nothing but trouble. Lagging, crashing, you name it, it's happening. I actually cringe now when I realise I have to open the app to look at one of my notes because I know how long it's going to take and it often deters me. I just don't know how you could get it so wrong after so many years of having it right.

Terrible support, do not bother. Im a long, long term user of Evernote and have loved it for a long time (since 2013) . However, I’ve run into issues with my subscription and I cannot explain how truly impenetrable accessing support is. After days of back and forth submitting tickets (no chat or phone number available)- and submitting all my account details on request, I’ve received an email telling me to check their “handy online help and learning resources”. I’ve now been ignored for over three weeks and no one is getting back to me. It’s an expensive service so I’d warn against purchasing the sub until their support processes are improved less you end up like me. It appears that they don’t care about their customers, they just care about maximising profits. I’ve lost my money - don’t lose yours!!!

Really enjoying the upgrade. Have been using the app for 6 years and this upgrade was a pleasant surprise. Sorting options and ease of saved searches is very intuitive. Layout is fresh with out being too gimmicky. While I am loving the view options, the sort option appears to be missing from saved searches. Some menus pop up at the bottom of the screen however the positives out way theses two negatives.

Not reliable. The main purpose of a notepad is to record ideas and thoughts. I’ve been using Evernote for 6 years now for that purpose but for some reason recently the notes do not save reliably. Even on a solid 5G network, it can be extremely slow to upload and save. Sometimes it says it has saved but then I close the app and reopen and the update I wrote is gone. It seems to be a server side issue as this happens on all devices and connections. I really like this app, but unfortunately I’ve lost too many notes and ideas due saving issues to continue using it. Goodbye Evernote.

Bugs, bugs and bugs. Looks like leaving a bad review is the only way you might get some help with this app. The ‘help’ page is filled with generic articles on how to use the app, and the ‘talk to support’ option just puts you into a chat with an AI that links you back to those same generic articles over and over. So, here we are … Don’t know what’s happened recently but something is broke. Every time I open the app it just shows me the previews of the notes but won’t let me open them until it loads something (still not too sure what that is but I’m getting real familiar with the loading bar). Tried restarting my iPad and now it doesn’t even get that far. I just get a black screen with the logo in the centre. I’ve opened it with and without a wifi connection, and even left it for 20 minutes hoping there was just an incredibly large package it had to download in the background, but still nothing. Really hoping someone from this app starts undoing whatever they did to break this. Or else comes back to me with some kind of fix.

Does not save!. Beware that the app has serious issues on ios devices. I does not save anymore.

50 note cap. You guys must be kidding with existing users. I chose Evernote because I just needed a simple notekeeper. Why should I pay you just to keep 50+ notes? There are billions of apps out there to do that forever and unlimited. It is time to say goodbye to Evernote.

Warning. Had been using for a couple of years but last update also wiped out all my notes.

Stop!!!. Stop asking me for my iTunes password nearly EVERY SINGLE TIME I OPEN THE APP! Also why do you now allow me to keep the notes ON MY IPHONE? I don't have multiple device's I sync to so I want them always on my phone and accessible. Of course I have to pay for such a basic feature. BS! This has become a cash grab. App used to be good. Now it's annoying asking for money at every turn.

Locked out of my important notes!!!. Are you serious right now?!? I’m locked out of private, personal notes all because I don’t want a feee trial and I don’t want to pay for an upgrade? You’re trying to force people to do a free trial by hiding notes they made?? How is this even legal??? To say I’m furious is an understatement!!!

175 seconds to access a note since new version. I've been using this application for many years now and have recommended it many times since with great enthousiasm. Since last version, I am extremely disappointed. I own a pretty recent iphone model. Waiting time from opening the app to actually see a note.... 175 seconds.. almost 3 minutes. 45 seconds to open the app, 40 for search to find the note, 90 to actually open the note... more or least, EVERY SINGLE TIME. Exasperating, to say the least.

SO MANY ADS. I’ve used the free version of Evernote for the last 8 years and loved it. However, for the last year I have gotten SPAMMED every time I open the app. Sometimes the app even stops working and I can’t access my notes. I have tried to keep using it, but I am done. I am exporting everything and leaving Evernote. What a garbage development of the app, I’m very disappointed.

I love it. I have used this app many times in the past, with my new job I decided to go premium and I am happy. Please give Skitch some love Evernote team

Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken. First they started interrupting me with constant pitches to upgrade to Premium. (I tried it. I didn’t like it. Stop asking.) Now, after I run the latest update, the app keeps crashing. Why take something that works and ruin it? Are you working with Apple or something?

Ads every time you use it. And if you close it, it appears again. Same each time you need to use the app. Also is slow to start… Don’t Waiste Time.

Unusable junk. There was nothing that I could do to log in and make it work. My friends said they had the same problem. Deleted the app and moved on.

Not free. Sadly not free

Warning: update turns app into ransom ware. I cannot warn you strongly enough not to update this app. After using Evernote for many years, I updated the app after upgrading to iOS 11. Evernote has now locked me out of my notes and demands I pay for a premium plan to regain access to my data. The app will tell you you can use the basic plan and drop down to 2 devices BUT the option doesn’t work! The “Save and continue” button is greyed out until you select to drop all devices. Evernote support is non-responsive and it appears my only option is to bite the bullet and pay $100 or lose four years + of data. Don’t trust Evernote unless you like being sucker punched!

Horrible. Terrible security, had many people access my information and got 0 notification. Limits on free version along with constant pop ups make it unusable.

Useless in 2024. Predatory and useless. Pay min $130 a year to keep your notes.

Version 10 is a bugfest. This new version has so many bugs it should be pulled. It is slow to load. Every time I edit a note it creates six or seven copies of the same note. The keyboard constantly disappears. Deleted notes reappear when the app is opened again. And those are just the bugs in basic functions. I’m afraid to try anything complex. The old app was growing stale, but this one Is D.O.A.

Loosing loyal consumer. I’ve had Evernote since 2012. SO you can imagine the amount of notes and notebooks I have. As of Dec 2023, they have forced free users to upgrade because the limit is not 1 notebook and 50 notes. I’m not asking to get something for nothing but $150/year for the personal plan is not feasible in this financial/consumer climate. I don’t need most of the features, so make it customizable so we can choose what we can afford, or just charge for cloud storage. It’s just so disappointing how capitalism has ruined yet another good thing. Now to figure out how to transfer all the notes to something else. BYE

Down the toilet. I have been using this app since 2012 and have been loving it—until now. I cannot justify this $7 increase (from $8 to $15) for a note-taking app!!! What a horrible way to treat existing customers. Bye bye evernote.

Useless. I’ve been using the app for notes for years. Now I need to pay $130+ per year just to keep my notes. Totally ridiculous.

Constant pop ups asking you to pay $160 a year. It allows you to take notes. It does what it advertises but recently they have started pushing the premium with pop ups every time you look at a note. $160 a year?… so I can looks at my notes without pop ups? That’s crazy. I guess they want people to delete their app

hate the subscription of all things. been using this since 2011

Looks like an awesome app but everything helpful is behind a paywall. The subscription price for this application is very high and if you want to used any of the services you have to pay for it, better off using the notes and reminder application native to an iPhone if you don’t want to pay

Falling off a cliff. Evernote use to work. Now their sync between devices is atrocious. It’s a mess trying to figure out where your at, specially on the desktop app.

Getting worse. I’ve used Evernote for 10 years but this new iteration doesn’t convince me, it’s extremely slow in syncing between devices and it’s now missing the possibility of assigning tags to web clips while creating them that was one of the most important features for me, please guys bring it back !

No longer free. So the subscription fees came in and now a very efficient and functional app has just become an ad for itself, prompting you numerous times on every screen to subscribe and pay to keep more than 50 notes along with other aspects like saving your notes. all these use to be free applications of the app and now its just a huge money grab.

Serious problem with billing and customer support. I paid for Evernote personal, I can’t access the features and it’s impossible to talk to a real person. Your AI can’t understand what I need. Mega frustrating, I feel scammed. Not recommended.

I only require the free version, stop hounding me!!. I spent the first two years really enjoying this app with the occasional “50%” off subscription offer “never to be repeated again” deals. Happily saying no to them and just using this app for the few little things I do. Lately I’ve noticed a big change, the data upload limit per month is next to nothing, folder restrictions have been put in place and now, once a day I get three simultaneous offers for a one time only 50% off deal as soon as I open it. Either they can no longer afford the data storage OR it’s time to get greedy like every big conglomerate and aim for permanent exponential growth. Sorry but I’m moving away from this great app. Don’t offer a free version if you’re just going to bug people all the time, perhaps even people who can’t afford the subscription.

Deleted the app after 10 years of using it. Today I’ve unfortunately deleted Evernote and exported my notes to the native Apple notes app. Unfortunately the decision of limiting the number of Evernote notes to 50 notes in the free version is no good and the pricing is ridiculous for the paid version. Good luck Evernote, tough way ahead.

this is a review. As much as I love implementing Helvetica in my designs and whatnot, isn't Gotham a much more pleasant font to look at? Maybe I'm growing out of the Swiss designer's Helvetica obsession phase, I don't know. I think I'm too contemporary to understand the beauty or Helvetica... Anyways, Evernote is a very useful app. A little on the expensive side, sure, but the UI is amongst the best I've seen for note taking apps. There are only a couple crashes so far, but I'm not that concerned since nothing is lost. I understand how frustrating programming can be. I get migraines when my code doesn't compile properly or because I forgot to close the array by accident. I see many people are pressuring you to release an update that fixes all their problems, but programming is delicate business. Take your time.

App doesn’t save changes. Used to love it, but latest version of the iPhone app doesn’t save changes. Garbage.

Useless. I’ve been using Evernote for years and now seemingly overnight my notes are inaccessible and they threw up a massive paywall. Who’s actually dumb enough to pay a subscription for a note taking app anyways? Uninstall. One star.

New Update ruined my experience. I have been an evernote user since 2014 and have a lot of my notes and information inside my evernote and I have always enjoyed using it. However, I recently upgraded to a new phone and thus erased my data on my old phone. I log in and all is well for about 15 seconds. I try to open a note and it tells me I have to unsync a device as there are only 2 devices that can be connected. I tell myself no problem, let me unsync my old phone, it unsyncs, and I get prompted to re log in. For another 20 seconds I get prompted again, this time it says I have one unsync left, I do the same procedure again and I relog in. I am able to look at my notes again...for 15 seconds where I am no longer able to unsync a device that I UNSYNCED TWICE. I am now unable to use the app and unable to contact support because I’m not a premium or business user. Which completely sucks, for 6 years I have used this app and suddenly I can’t and there is no support. Support team should available for everyone. Horrible user experience.

I’m Back...!!!. Took a small break from Evernote trying other note taking Apps, but had to come back. I’m not sure what it is but this App has all the features I need. The one thing I’m not fond of is the pricing for a premium subscription. Nevertheless, I’m giving it 5 star...

Great app: A suggestion. Hi there, I like this app a lot. I was wondering if we could get the widget to show more of a note like the top note you take or more than just one line. I have an apple phone and it would make this app 5 stars if I could see a whole note from the widget section or however much is possible

Finally cut the cord. I’ve used Evernote since 2012, and have just used it as a basic note keeper to share text across devices. Restrictions upon restrictions kept getting added but I was fine logging in and out occasionally between a tablet, phone and desktop. Finally my account seems to have caught into a loop of being unable to sign in or out with a pop up begging for me to pay. I’ve just decided to stop using the app and began taking all my notes on Keep instead. The groveling is frankly kind of sad for such an established brand. This is a shareable notepad, not an enterprise service. There is no shortage of apps that function as basic as this that are entirely free. Evernote should function as a Freemium service without the ridiculous constant begging for subscriptions and locking people out of their accounts. The device limit is just idiotic and completely kills the most basic purpose of the app. I would classify it as deceptive practice. This is not an Editors Choice app and does not deserve the title. Anyone needing to jot notes between devices should just download OneNote or Google Keep.

Waste of money. This app offers little and they try to bleed more money out of you by offering silly templates and other Nonsense.

Why the ads when I’ve purchased it?. The app sends ads every time I use it despite that I’ve paid for this. I only purchased it to keep notes, but it no longer serves my needs as I have to click through multiple annoying screens that are offering a new product that I have zero interest in. What a waste of money. I wish I had never bought it

Avoid at All costs. After a decade of using this app these greedy developers have made this app redundant. Good luck maintaining any customers, you’re not Netflix!

Used to be the best now it’s unusable. Used to use this for writing and now it literal does not function. It wants you to pay just to make more than 50 notes or use folders. That is insane and makes the app useless.

Doesnt standout from OneNote. Doesnt offer any features above that of Microsoft’s free OneNote, but charges $10 a month. Hard pass. These “Editor’s Awards” really starting to lack in legitimacy.

Good but Flawed. Security level is low. Password protection is almost nonexistent.

Service and user experience are bad. Simple question about English version into Chinese version, waiting for one week and not reply both through chat or email. The customer service on chat lied about can be refounded in one week but nothing happened.

Great software but poor treatment of free users. The notes themselves are good but lately there’s been a significant push to monetize the app so the features of the free version have been significantly limited and they keep bugging the older free users to upgrade. It feels very forceful and unpleasant. Each time I open the app or open a note I get two pop ups that require multiple clicks to close that urge me to pay for a subscription. This makes me feel like Evernote ownership is trying to irritate free users to the point where they pay you just to get them off their backs. As a business owner I don’t favour this approach of forcefully monetizing the product. I would appreciate it if Evernote is sincere and straightforward about what they want. Just say “don’t use the product with the free version” and I won’t. But if they allow a free version then let it be. Let me see so much value in your product that I want to pay for the extras. Don’t remove things from the free version and pigeonhole someone into paying you. That’s just terrible business conduct. I can use a different notes app. I don’t have to use Evernote for my needs. Please be sincere.

Held hostage. Don’t love being forced into an upgrade when the functions that I previously used from an old format are no longer available. Now I’m expected to pay $170 a year, but I can’t even get tech-support?! I don’t know how you people sleep at night.

Latest update stopped app working. The Aug 8th update kicked me out of all my business notes and I can't get back in

Google wants to be there too. Why should we let these big giants be everywhere we go and know anything we do? Downloaded the app and immediately deleted it after finding out that I have to make an account or sign in with google account. My privacy, my business!!! Please stay out!! Thanks. Too bad I can’t even try out the app.

Multiple copies of same note. The latest Evernote update (with iOS 14.0) makes multiple copies of the same note, which I find difficult to follow and manage. I’m not sure if I like it. Can anyone guide me to a similar application? Thank you!

Pratique. Je l’utilise depuis quelques années et c’est une excellente façon de prendre et conserver des notes de suivi de projets.

Great new design, awful quality. Did Evernote even test this app before they released it? I can’t believe how poor quality it is. I’ve tried to save an image note several times and it fails every time, and then the app ceases functioning after each time I try. I like the new design. I just wish it actually functioned.

Every time I open it they try to force me to upgrade. By now they should understand. I am only interested in the basic version, why they have to push me to three or four clicks with a very sneaky user interface to try to upgrade me by force.

I love it, worth it. I’ve been using Evernote for about a year and a half now. When I first started, I believe it was free and we could create unlimited notebooks and notes. When the plans were first introduced, it wasn’t really necessary if you don’t write a lot. However, it seems Evernote has enforced the plans a little bit more onto it’s users by changing the plans. At first, I was a bit hesitant about the plans because it definitely caught me off guard. I said to myself, “Oh no, I have to pay for my favorite app? SMH!” I love this app so much and I literally use it everyday, that the money spent on it nearly means nothing. It is completely worth it, in my opinion, of course, to be added to my list of bills. This app is super professional, good for personal or professional uses. This keeps my entire life completely organized. There is a very small chance I will stop using this app. Thank you, whoever created Evernote.

Deleting after years. I’m a long time user about to delete this app. I got a new phone and transferred my data but for some reason Evernote decided it was a new device and wouldn’t let me log in without upgrading or unsyncing another device. (There never was a third device.) It listed a laptop and two phones. One of the phones was marked as “this device” so I deleted the “other” phone. It informed me I have 2 device deletions remaining. It made me login again and I did my thing. As soon as I opened the app again, it informed me that there were too many devices connected. This time I deleted “both” phones, leaving me with 1 device deletion... except that there’s never been a third device! This has never happened with previous phone upgrades. Of course since I only have the basic plan I have no access to complain. So basically it’s not worth it. I may use it on my laptop just to keep the data, but basically the service is now untrustworthy and thus useless to me, so I will be looking for an alternative.

Forced to upgrade. I'm not a fan of forcing people to upgrade. Sure, it may be a strategy for your company to grow. But remember that you're working with people. I have been using Evernote for 7 years, and just went on today to access notes on my phone and was told I now need to upgrade to continue to have access to my notes on multiple devices. I have literally always been able to access my evernote on my phone and on my computer/tablet. A feature that was always a feature has now been taken away. I can unsync my other device, or I can upgrade to keep it on my devices. Not a fan. I've purchased an upgraded version in the past, and it was not worth it. And what stinks is now I have literally YEARS of notes and journals and voice memos SAVED in my evernote that it would take forever just to transfer it all somewhere else. I feel like my hand is being forced, and I don't agree with that. Maybe charge new people? Grandfather in the old?

Full of bugs; subscription not worth it.. I’ve been using Evernote for about a year, but recently I got fed up with suffering the multiple bugs and functionality issues. I use this app primarily for keeping a grocery list and jotting down notes, but it seems like every other time I open my grocery checklist there is a sync error and I need to manually reconcile the two copies that Evernote saved. Additionally, the app “reloads” the page every time I switch away or lock/unlock the phone, which makes entering or editing notes incredibly painstaking. I use Evernote on two devices and occasionally access the web app on my laptop. The web app access was not previously counted as a “synced” device, but after a recent update Evernote has been forcing me to either subscribe to their premium service or unsync one of my devices. After this experience, I’m done dealing with this app. Why would I pay a monthly subscription for Evernote when my iPhone comes with two perfectly functional reminders/notes apps? Sure, they don’t have quite as many features, but at least they WORK!

Unable to work with multiple devices. At its best, most functional level, Evernote works very well to organize my thoughts and aid in my productivity. I appreciate all the features available (even at the free level). However, incompatibility between my two devices is detrimental to my usage of the app, and this might be a dealbreaker for my overall usage of Evernote. I was really looking forward to using Evernote between my phone and laptop, and the experience has been disappointing. I don’t know whether this is a problem of Evernote, the phone app, the Mac app, or a combination of the prior list. My notes are constantly overwritten, or the content is duplicated, whenever I access the notes from my second device. I have tried various things to mitigate this issue, such as closing the app after using it on either device. However, this has not resolved the issues, and these issues actively hinder my progress to my point where I no longer use the mobile app.

New version is a disaster for this longtime premium user. Evernote was a major part of my life for over 10 years. It was crucial for getting 2 books published. Alas, the recent versions, including the current one, is hardly even usable. Reliability is essential for an app like Evernote, and it has become utterly unreliable. E.g., I shared a webpage to Evernote 3 hours ago, and it still does not show up in the Evernote app on any of my devices (2 Macs, iPad, and iPhone). I need to annotate it, but it’s not there! I have sync’d multiple times on 3 devices. Will it ever show up? I had no choice but to look for alternatives. So far, Keep It is looking like a great replacement for Evernote. It’s taken a bit of adjustment in my workflow, but I’m loving it. It is faster, more reliable, and offers some other advantages as well, like the option to save a webpage as one long PDF, which brilliantly solves multiple problems Evernote has always had with saving webpages. BTW, The webpage I mentioned earlier was saved to Keep It immediately! The free Joplin app is supposed to be good, too, but seems to have a steeper learning curve.

Daily Staple, but has issues - 2nd Opinion. I concur with the reviewer who has a similar review title to my own. I use Evernote for literally all my writing and have for over 4 years. The desktop versions work beautifully for both Mac and Windows, but the iOS version is buggy and has been for the past year. These bugs seem like minor issues that should’ve been taken care of awhile ago, for such a popular, premium app. In addition to the app closing each time you switch to another app or you put your phone to sleep (as mentioned by the previous reviewer), the app also has major issues with bulletpoint/numbered lists, especially when you use nested lists, as I do literally all the time. It fails to number consecutive items after you’ve hit “return”, sometimes it deletes a number associated with a previous item, and it also shifts entire blocks of text left or right when no such justification should occur. Overall, I love the app, I just would like to see these persistent headaches solved in future versions.

Songwriter Loves this app. I can happily say that I’ve found a reliable resource for writing my songs on the go, between devices. I don’t really use this app in the way it’s intended - collaboratively. I work alone. When I have a song ‘chart’ (words and chords) to share, I export to PDF and share. I’m able to work on a song’s lyrics on the go, notating and saving changes to my words/chords in written form. Minus 1 star: This could all change at any moment, which I find terrifying. Evernote people can’t stop changing things for cosmetic appeal. It’s a sickness, changing things that work, for no apparent reason. It’s a disease of big tech companies. I really wish they’d just leave things the way they are and adapt to the new devices without expanding expanding and further watering down the attention paid to details of the app. I use this in conjunction with DropBox, putting my demo audio in dropbox. Dropbox is better for playing back audio. I can add from Voice memos to Dropbox easier than Evernote because it’s folders. The one thing that’s terrifying is when you don’t have internet connection and it appears all your work has gone offline. I wish there was an ‘offline’ option. All in all, I’m happy with my choice to organize all my complicated whimsical songwriting here, so that if I have an idea for a lyric to a song I’ve put away for a couple months, I can add it and know I didn’t waste a creative moment.

Revolutionized my leadership. John Maxwell says that you should read, write, and file EVERYDAY. This unquestionably is the app which allows you to do just that. And best of all, it's free! Add copied text right into a new note. All your data is available on any device that you have Evernote installed. Move seamlessly between iPhone and multiple computers which are instantly synced. Just plain AWESOME!! As a pastor, this is an invaluable tool allowing me to keep a daily prayer journal, sermon ideas, prayer requests, and note taking all in the same program!!! As an adult with ADHD, Evernote is a place I can offload my brain, and get all those random thoughts, things I’m supposed to remember, and stuff I don’t want to forget, a place to land and be organized. It also provides for me a stable platform to GTD (Get Things Done) using available GTD templates which greatly aid in my focus and organization. I cannot write anything negative for Evernote. So I won't even try! Get it!

A laggy, glitchy mess. Evernote USED to be the best note-taking app there was. But “used to be” was a LONG time ago. It’s nothing but hot garbage now. I had to reformat my iPad, I log back into my Evernote, it says I have too many devices on my account. I knew this was coming because over the last 10 years Evernote has become straight money-grubbing trash. So unsynced my iPad, the SAME iPad I was currently on, but Evernote sees as a “different” iPad somehow. I’ve played this game before. I unsync. I then go to log back in, says the password is wrong. It’s not wrong. It’s the same password from my iPad’s keychain that I JUST used not 10 seconds before. I close app. I reboot app. I’m magically logged in somehow. I just thankful I made it past Evernote’s Three Stooges’ish security and unsync prompts. Just then… another unsync prompt. I just did that. Doesn’t matter, do it AGAIN. But I’m reminded I can only do this 2 times per month (back by that whole money-grubbing, cash-grabbing thing, see). This happens AGAIN, for a THIRD time. Now I can’t unsync and I’m screwed. I’m done. Thankfully I had a backup app with my notes on it. So long Evernote. I’m tired of the dumpster fire smell.

It’s ok. I have ADHD. I’m also a teacher. I need lots of lists for various school and home tasks, easy ways to organize thoughts, places to put ideas for future lessons, and I need reminders, with due dates and times. This app seems to take a while to load. My adhd brain doesn’t have the patience or the focus to wait long when I have an idea. By the time it opens, I’ve often forgot what I was going to input! I’m not a fan of the layout and organization of the notes. I don’t find it easy to find the one I need quickly. I thought I’d like the quick scratch pad but then those notes get lost easy unless I delete the automated title and rename it. Then I have to click through menus in order to move it to the correct list because it automatically chooses for you. It’s an ok app but not meant for someone with quick ideas and many different lists to organize. The act of writing the notes in the correct spot is too cumbersome for someone busy and needing to work quickly and efficiently.

Don’t Use Evernote. As a writer, I have used Evernote for over 10 years to store my notes and prose free of cost. I would try other services but then always come back to Evernote because of its ease of use and security features, I never felt my data was vulnerable to a breach. I had unlimited notes and notebooks to use and was never harassed for membership. That has all changed now. Due to the greedy nature of the developer of this app, you are now restricted to 1 notebook and 50 notes on a free plan. I have hundreds of notes in my account and cannot make another one without paying $15 a month. I will NOT be paying that. Instead, I will have to find an alternative and transfer all my notes over. I hope I’m able to transfer them without being forced to pay some other obscene fee. I don’t recommend Evernote to anyone with this new scam pricing. I don’t believe anyone should be forced to pay so much for a basic word editor that is only slightly better than Apple Notes in order to have over 50 notes.

What a disappointment after 12 years and paid service. I have been an Evernote paying customer for 12 years and I am so disappointed that this once-fabulous note-taking app is more and more glitchy. I have been having considerable syncing problems in the last 6 months so I googled “what happened to Evernote” and found out it had been sold! I use the app for keeping records of my customers and other things connected to my work, so it is a real problem that I will now have to migrate all my notes to another app, that I will also have to learn to use. It is a downright shame that companies are able to just sell their product off once they have a reputation and popularity, with little or no warning for paying customers and worst of all, with complete disregard for providing a quality product. All the tech world boils down to is a race to make big bucks in a short period of time with no respect for customers or vision for the future. What a horrible world the digital people have created and we are all stuck in it.

They want me to pay money for this?!. Impossible to navigate - as you try to scroll through all your notes, instead the program hiccups and opens up a note, forcing you to go back out only for this whole sequence to repeat. Too easy to delete text you want to keep because the program is super sensitive when your trying to edit a document, too. Used it for years, paid for premium, but the mobile app is horrible. I bit the bullet and went to (cringe) One Note - but you know? It’s so much easier, I hate to say. With Evernote, I’m never sure if it will let me cut and paste between programs - no problem with One Note. Also, it’s hard to do batch downloads of my Evernote documents, and when I do download them they won’t open in any other program. Again (ick, hate saying this), working between programs is a cinch for One Note. I resisted it for years, but now I wish I’d started with it cause it’s such a pain transferring all my Evernote documents - which aren’t really accessible outside the Evernote environment - over to One Note. Love and learn.

Almost perfect. The app is very powerful. There’s lots of features and customization options, and while I’m not a fan of paying 10$ for them all, it just doesn’t have competition. However, there’s a certain lack of refinement that would be helpful. Some features take too much digging and clicking to get to. Even more important is the “organization system. Having only two layers to organize your notes and files is restricting. I’ve been testing out a beautiful app called Noto which is unfortunately missing several features that Evernote has. However, the simplicity of using the features is awesome and makes things quicker, and the folders and display are awesome. As someone trying to start game design, having content organized is important and while tags help, some things are better in multiple layers of folders. If it had sharing i would probably give up some Evernote features for noto. Please consider adding more subdivision of of notebooks.

Good, but struggles with Multitasking. For me, one of the biggest draws to Evernote is the compatibility across multiple platforms. More recently though, I’ve begun taking notes on an Ipad. While doing this, a vital part of Evernote hasn’t worked well. When you have two apps open, the toolbar for color selection, fonts, indentation, etc. disappears. This has been highly inconvenient for someone like myself who relies heavily on color-coding what I’m writing. This has forced me to use other note-taking apps while viewing one app and taking notes in another. I love simplicity and uniformity, and so keeping notes in different places has been inconvenient. Other than that, I’ve been decently satisfied with Evernote. It has been a real shame that that function hasn’t worked but hopefully they’ll get it figured out eventually. Especially with the advent of IOS 16 with its powerful multi-tasking capabilities.

Two problems to fix. When taking a note, there are many problems with Voiceover. First, when swiping to the right, sometimes it skips over the title field & other times it skips over the multi-line text field. When typing in the field, you can’t move by letter or word & have it affect where the cursor is located. When The keyboard is brought up from simply looking at a note, the cursor is somewhere in the middle of the text already in it. Unlike most text fields, double tapping on it does not move the cursor to the start or the end of the text field. You also cannot listen to the entire note when the keyboard is available. This makes creating & editing notes inaccessible to Voiceover. Sharing to Evernote takes a long time after entering text & choosing the folder. Once I hit save, a loading icon is shown while I have to wait for a long time to share it. If these problems are solved, I will be satisfied with Evernote. Until Evernote is Voiceover accessible, I will use another note taking app that is accessible.

Thumbnails. Please tell me that you will finally add the ability to choose which image in the note to be the thumbnail displayed in the list of notes. I am an artist and take several images of a work during its progress and want the finished piece to be the thumbnail. It is really annoying to always enter the note when I am looking for a particular color scheme, piece, etc. rather than quickly scanning the list. A monumental waste of time. I keep using Evernote (for several years now) because I have not found another options that works with tags they way I want. I have to say, most of the other options DO have the ability to choose your thumbnail from your images. I also am very disappointed in the latest updates for IOS iPad. You removed features I used to use all the time. There are a couple of new features I am learning to like but would really like to have the alphabet index back so that I can quickly jump about in my many, many notes.

Supposedly Better, But Worse in Ways. Even though there have been a lot of upgrades and optimizations, one of the most frequent and pervasive issues in the official online support system and elsewhere is the CRITICAL fault of recent edits not being saved and being completely lost. This impacts the usability in a huge way, because whole edits and work done is frequently lost if you aren’t doing a constant backup tango that the previous version never required. And even when you do, sometimes it still loses it, especially when multitasking and switching between apps. Before the new upgrades, I never had to think to manually sync after every important change I made to a document, now I am hitting the check mark to close editing on a document (something the old version never had, and did fine without) and swiping down on the note list in order to force a sync to the web version sometimes every half paragraph or so, just to make sure I don’t lose a critical thought.

Honest opinion. I have been using Evernote for a while now and it has help me tremendously with keeping everything in order. I am a personal trainer & Kickboxing instructor so I have lists upon lists of combinations, class drills, one on one programs for clients and Evernote makes it more than easy to keep track and to keep organized, all of my work. The ability to schedule on the app itself and tag dates, names, locations, etc. into that is amazing. By far the greatest in my opinion for notes/task management. I gave 4 stars though because the colander syncs based off the email you use (I believe), I use gmail for work and business but iCloud for personal but work of my iPad Pro so I have to enter things twice (one google, one iCloud) but I may be able to fix that, I don’t know yet. Overall, if you need an app for notes or task management and tracking. This is definitely the one.

Overall still the Best Note App. As someone who has been using Evernote for years, despite many hiccups, I still love this app overall. There are still a few annoying glitches for the iPad functionality though. For instance, when you’re typing in a note, and switch to another app and back to Evernote, the cursor often gets locked at the bottom of the note, and you have to click into another note and back into the one you were working on to get the cursor working correctly—Super annoying. The only other thing is that as you type a note, while you have ‘Show Body Text’ selected in ‘Note List Options,’ as you type in a note, the tile in the Notes List continues resizing as it syncs, even if the text you’re editing is far past what’s previewed in said tile. This can be solved by putting the note into full screen or turning off ‘Show Body Text’ but I prefer the settings that cause this glitch.

Evernote. Okay so I’ve had Evernote for a while now and I’ve loved writing everything I need to on it, but there’s no option to contact customer service without paying for the upgrades, which I think is ridiculous. I’ll admit I stupidly put in the wrong email while making my account... but you’d think they’d have a confirmation before accepting your account. Then I lost my password and can’t change it since the emails wrong. Annoyingly you can’t change the email with out the password so what am I supposed to do to get the information on the account I’ve used for three years? Though I’ll say my brains didn’t help the situation... customer service should be an option and there should be other ways around my problem and other people’s when they run into a dire pickle. The app itself I really like but settings and login plus the customer service I feel could make some improvements.

Keep looking - Not worth the headache. Overall, clunky and more cumbersome than is worth your time. The app constantly saves in the middle of note taking. This would be a great feature if it didn’t stop recognizing that you are typing. Afterwards you either need to save again, which takes up to at least 10 seconds for it to load to the network (while eliminating your ability to use the app), or retype all of your notes because they’ve been lost in the process. The app forgets the menu button exists and requires you to force close and reopen the app to access anything other than the page you have open. I’m fed up with opening and closing my app 20 times a day and retyping my thoughts over and over. The buggy issues aside, its not a well organized app. Books and pages feel scattered. Integration with other apps stinks. It’s just not a great experience. Who knows if the Pro version would fix any of this but I’ll never risk spending the money to find out. Changing apps as soon as I find something suitable to copy everything over to. Yikes.

Very annoying glitches with ipad version. I recently began trying to use Evernote with an iPad Pro with an external keyboard. I’ve found this to be an exasperating experience. One great feature of the iPadOS is multitasking and trying to use split panes with Evernote is an exercise in frustration. One particular problem is while editing, if you click on a … to get a pop-up menu, about 50% of the time it freezes - you can’t select an item from the menu and you cannot dismiss the menu. You have to exit the app and go back in and hope that the pop-up is gone. Not very productive. I have not experienced this problem with other apps. Also there are some perplexing feature omitions that are also frustrating. One example: you cannot expand or reduce the width of a column in a table. You can add or remove columns, but for some reason there doesn’t seem to be the ability to resize them. I could understand this maybe in a version 1 product, but c’mon this app has been around for years.

Evernote still the best for organizing and searching. I have tried OneNote a few times to see if it was as good as Evernote. OneNote has good editing tools within a note, but seems to be lacking when comes to FINDING your notes. I like Evernote’s search ability - select one ore more tags or a notebook - and then search within that context. I like that you can see Evernote’s list of tags at a glance on the left - and then quickly see a list of those notes that have that tag. And when you put in a search string, Evernote instantly shows you a list of notes that match, along with the first few lines of the note - even if what you’re searching for is within an embedded image (or PDF file since I have Premium). This ability to quickly find what you’re looking for within a thousand notes is critical for me. I don’t think ON is a replacement for Evernote for me - because of this alone. I hope Evernote stays afloat for a long time to come!

Where’s the support??. I just upgraded my phone and everything seemed to be present and working. So when I opened my Evernote app later and signed in, everything was gone. Everything. It welcomed me to Evernote as if I was a new user, yet shows that I’ve been a member since April 2014. If it was only a mild inconvenience, I would let it go. But there are some important notes from 2014 that mean the world to me (notes about my son, who passed away) that I can’t just recreate. There are notes that keep me organized and help me to remember what needs to get done that unfortunately, I can’t remember. I have tried logging in under other email addresses, just in case. Here’s where it gets really fun. I tried to contact customer support. That’s a no-go. In the past, I was able to do this. Now, I’d have to upgrade to a $7.99 a month plan just to have an online chat. Not even a phone call. $7.99 just to talk to someone online? Really?? Please tell me you’re better than this, Evernote. I have recommended countless amounts of people to this app. Well, without some restored notes and a way to access customer service, that will not be happening again.

Lost all my data: Solved!. Edit: Customer support replied promptly and the issue was a simple log in mistake that was resolved. Quick service and good outcome changes the rating to the five I had in mind before the event! I installed Evernote in July of ‘21, and today opening it up I found that it asked me to sign in and then promptly brought me to the new user walkthrough. Nothing I can do changes it back and it’s erased all my notes and data from the past two years. As there’s no other working way to contact your company I resort to this. I want my notes back. I need my information back. I trusted this app to not delete everything I put on it for safekeeping, I don’t have this information in any other place, and now it’s lost the two years worth of information I wrote on it. Please help me get my data back, I don’t know why this happened but I need it fixed.

Great app but they don’t know who they want. I keep getting ads about using Evernote business but I don’t want their service for business. I do use it for business but I don’t think they understand what I want as a business owner. I use it for myself, I don’t have a team, although I imagine I will at some point, I don’t think that this would even serve my team if I had one. there’s only one thing I want out of the premium service and that is being able to use the app on all my devices. That really should be a free service. It’s stupid the way you guys do it. It’s incredibly frustrating. I’ll make this easy for you Evernote. The only way I would pay a higher price for what you offer is if you provided mind mapping or flow charting in my note taking. There isn’t really a great option out there and it would allow me to see everything all at once. You guys should consider all the ways people can take notes and I think this would be the next frontier. You guys also could make it easier to make charts and graphs. I think those two things would be worth the price.

Very unreliable lately.... ...and I can’t even submit a support ticket thru the app, it just freezes when I tap the submit button. Notes are taking days to import from the web when I share a site to Evernote, and some notes that I have saved a document to are now blank. I’ve been a paid Premium member for years, and find this level of bugs unacceptable for a paid membership, especially since I have so many important notes and documents saved on the platform. Normally I wouldn’t air these issues in a review, but I haven’t been able to contact support directly. I’m hoping this bug gets worked out soon. And I also just paid my monthly membership but it is not updating so it still shows as a free membership and keeps prompting me to pay again and the pop up won’t let me access my notes. Tried to submit a support ticket for that too and it was very difficult to find where to do it, and when I did, a pop up about “Terms” prevented me from moving on because it did not display the full screen with no tab to move on. Come on Evernote…you can do better than this!

IOS Version 10.0.3. Is it Me?. I’ve used Evernote since March 2014. I updated to 10.0.3 a day ago & I regret it. I use Evernote on my IOS iphone & I use it a lot. Evernote on my phone was good before the update. One day after the update I learn that Evernote does not have PRINTING / ADOBE PDF feature as was in the version before the update. Also, the “Find in note” does not work in the notes created before the update but work in newly created notes. Printing & Find A Note are two features that I can’t do without. Evernote states in their documentation that PRINTING is not available yet in the IOS version. The new updated version does have some nice editing features such as undo & more highlight & font colors & font sizing capabilities. The inability to PRINT and the inability to make Adobe PDF’s is a game changer. I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I have almost 12,000 notes & for that reason, I’m hesitant to move on to something else. I’m disappointed in the latest update.

Well, time to delete.. I’ve used Evernote for personal use since I was in middle school…I am now in college and I am so sad to see that they have resorted to charging a ridiculous price for note-taking that can be done on other platforms for free. I went to create a new note today and for the first time in my 7 years of using Evernote I was prompted to pay $80 so I can….write a new note? I am really scared they’re going to get rid of all my notes/notebooks now that I don’t have a “plan”, so tomorrow I’m going to be deleting my account and moving all of my files elsewhere. Bye, Evernote. For personal use, it doesn’t offer anything special that I couldn’t do on the notes app built into my iPhone. It’s unfortunate because I loved Evernote for its simplicity and the fact that it was free. Looking at recent reviews, many people are not happy. Really disappointed, but many similar apps have gone the same route (charging exorbitant prices for features that were once free to users). I like how companies make these kinds of decisions and just hope that their users are going to go along with it. Well, we’re not.

Staple app! Must have.. I’ve had this app for years. I mean yeeears. I’ve used it across platforms and devices and it is seamless. I’ve never had it glitch or not work on each new phone I’ve purchased. At first, I only got it to take notes on the go when I was in military aviation. It helped me keep all unclassified tidbits in one safe space, but then I watched it and my need for it grow both over time and after I left the military for new professional endeavors. Other apps have tried to do something similar with their own novel touches, like Trello which I think is a decent app, but nothing has yet truly rivaled Evernote. Its easy to use and helps busy minds like mine to braindump everything into a tidy new entry while allowing me to build on it and reprioritize the contents along the way. I haven’t tried linking individuals for a shared group experience, like teams yet, but I am sure it would be a synch. It’s got pretty much everything you need from simple notes both with text and finger writing to scanning, audio, and video to checklists and more. Now that I am writing a book, it has become my writing research hub both on the go and while sitting at my computer. I open up a new web browser tab on my desktop and do everything I need to do right there with a click of the mouse. That way, I don’t need to transpose everything I am researching onto my phone a second time. Great app! Probably my favorite.

Can’t download/clip Web pages into EN!!. Update 10/23, I am currently unable to download media articles into Evernote. Is this a glitch w Evernote’s latest version?? Either from apps such as Pocket, or from the Web. Update, I've been using EN for a few years, and find it to be indispensable both at home and at work. I collect a large amount of information for research and to keep my paperwork organized at home. I really don't get people's complaints about privacy- if it is so important- such as health or taxes, simply don't include it in EN. The EN search engine has continually improved over the years, making it easier to find info from your files. I wish we had the option of not having to save the entire copy of the EN database on my laptop, as the hard drive begins to fill-in, but otherwise EN has become an indispensable part of my daily work flow.

Great idea, great app, a number of annoying things. It’s a great app. I would easily put 5/5 if not only for annoying little nuances that make it more difficult to use. I went online to see if any of the issues I experienced were already addressed in the past. Turns out, many of them were addressed a long time ago (like 5-6 years back) - and the Evernote team simply does not seem to care to fix them. For instance, tables are not mobile friendly. Like at all. You have to swipe back and forth to navigate. You can’t change the size of pictures. You can’t create a table on the app. There are only 3 font sizes. You can’t select thumbnail for your notebooks and notes, it selects it for you - which is pretty irritating. The size of annotations are not uniform which means they may appear smaller or bigger depending on the size of your picture.. Etcetera, etcetera... Evernote team! Is it that difficult to fix all of this?!? It’s been taking you guys years now. Maybe you should hire new developers?

Evernote Lost Its Way. I’ve been an Evernote user for many years and maintain an annual subscription because of a fairly substantial inventory. When I started using it on the web, and later in its iOS incarnations, I relied on Evernote for useful and fairly accurate web clippings. Later I expanded to note taking, record keeping, etc., and this now represents my heaviest usage. But as time goes on, I see Evernote trying to expand into an app for office collaboration, scheduling, to-do listings, etc. In so doing, Evernote has lost its way and become less useful for note-taking and its other core features. Cloud storage less reliable and can be very slow, not least resulting in slow and inaccurate syncing between devices, duplication of notes with one or more versions lagging the other. I continue to use the web clipping and note taking features, but am increasingly frustrated by poor performance that I believe results from Evernote attempts to find its way.

Font size issue.. Got this app after friends recommended it and I’m loving it. I’m more organized and productive already. Love the notebook layout and the cross platform from Windows to iPhone. But there’s an issue that reallllly bothers me. Font sizes aren’t consistent across the app on Windows 10 and the iPhone app. I ran a test to see what font sizes corresponds to small, medium, and large. Small on iPhone is 10 on Windows app. Medium is 14. Large is 18. Except something written in “small” on an iPhone, when viewed on a PC and compared to something written in 10 on the Windows app, the text originally written on Windows is larger than the text written on iPhone, despite them both being “10”. If I highlight the text from the iPhone and then select 10 again, it will grow ever so slightly to match the PC font size of 10. The opposite happens if I write something in 10 on PC and then view it on an iPhone and compare it to something written in “small.” What is written in “small” is larger than what was written in 10 on the PC. This is really frustrating because it results in inconsistencies throughout your notes. I know you guys care about organization, design, and consistency. So please fix this issue. Other than that, the app is great, would be 5 stars, but this is really frustrating. You can’t have an app meant for organization have something as basic as font size be inconsistent like this. Thanks for reading this feedback.

Going downhill. Ive been using this app since 2016 and it’s getting worse each year if feels like. The amount of pop up ads (that you can’t just x out of once, they prompt you TWICE and make the way to ex out of it as unclear as possible so you have to put more mental energy into finding it) is absolutely infuriating. Especially if you use note apps in a hurry & need to quickly jot something down. It started last year or so, and I remember thinking to myself “this is so so bad & incredibly annoying.. it makes me actually want to leave this app altogether- SURELY there will be an update & it will dial them back” and unfortunately, it’s only gotten worse since then. Not only has the frequency of ads INCREASED, but also the bugs have too. I waited for improvements, but unfortunately now the app has been taking ages to load and often times doesn’t save my note. I used to really love this app. So much I paid for it at one point. Now I can’t wait to leave it behind. RIP to an era.

Not worth it. Time to switch. They've made the free version practically unusable. I'm just writing this here to ensure the developers know exactly why I (and many others) are moving to other apps now. The constant barrage of pop-ups trying to get you to upgrade to the paid version is extremely disruptive and annoying. Makes it very hard to type notes. It takes long enough to get through them that I keep forgetting the thing I wanted to write down before I was able to write it out. That wasn't a problem before these incessant ads. It also refreshes the page/note frequently, so it stops me in my tracks and makes me scroll back to where I was to continue typing my notes. Extremely annoying, disruptive, and frustrating. I will be moving to a different app now. I've got my eyes on Notion. The $140/year price tag to upgrade is insane! I highly doubt most users can afford that. It's ridiculous when there are so many other apps that are free and can fill the same needs. After 10 years of previously happy usage, it's time to say goodbye.

Great app, but.... This is one of the few apps I pay for, and use almost daily, but I certainly like the functionality of the laptop version better. One thing I use this for is shopping lists. I have standard items that I purchase from certain stores I frequent. So I created lists of those items with check boxes. I wish I could turn off the newer feature developers decided was an improvement: to cross out items that are checked off. This may be helpful in task completion but it is not helpful for shopping lists that one will be rereading periodically if one has to read thru all the cross off lines of the list. Another reviewer mentioned the inconvenience, while following a recipe stored on the phone, of the screen blacking out AND reverting to the main page of the app if it is not touched in a short time while you are prepping food. Maybe you could add a "lock on" option to the app that one could select when following recipes.

Essential tool for my small business and life. Been using Evernote for five years plus now. Subscribe to the premium edition for the encryption and privacy protections. Use it to keep detailed information about clients. As well as my own life/hobbies. Photos. Audio. But mostly written records that are usually dictate. Powerful search abilities even if I don’t bother with tagging etc. I have always found it when I am needed. Use it on multi platform. Desktop computer, iPhone, iPad and it even logged in remotely via the web. Do you like Evernote apps for the platforms; add speed and I’m able to store key files locally (do not need Internet access). Have needed their tech-support a couple of times. Resolve the issue quickly. If I had it suggested to improve, I’d like to see better Apple Pen support have an apple pen capabilities in the iPad app. My guess is; they are probably working on that

My most useful—and most flawed—app. I have used Evernote as a paid user for almost its entire lifespan (>10 years). I use its desktop and iOS apps for nearly everything in my work and personal life. It is a wonderful tool. That said, Evernote is falling further and further behind its competition. The app is incredibly buggy and is in desperate need of a modernization and overhaul. Evernote has been promising this for years, but I wonder if that day will ever come. The current version in iOS 13.2 has one major bug that makes it *incredibly* difficult to use. If you are working in/on a note and move away from it for any amount of time—say to read an email, copy content from a web browser, or your auto-lock kicks in—you lose your place when you return to Evernote. At best, EN reloads your note and takes you to the top of the note when you return to it. At worst, EN takes you back to the “all notes” list where you have you navigate back to the note you were working in and find your place. This goes against all principles of basic multi-tasking and is a major productivity killer. My rating will be stuck at one star until this serious issue is resolved.

90% of What I Need. I love this app! Downloaded in 2013, it sat unused for a couple years but I realized the scope and detail it can hold in a way that's easy to collect. I'm a researcher of all things and I wanted to like Timepage and Agenda. While those are far better looking apps, it's clunky going between the two. Outlook is my email client so I use Evernote to capture thoughts on the fly with sync, it's great. As I'm filling in web info, I can save to EN, browsing a good article to reverence - I just use the web clip function to keep organized. I'm always adding pics so I can recall the content of what and why I wanted to sabe a clip. In my job search, I created several notebooks, one called Career. In Career I have job descriptions, wording for keywords, LinkedIn for links, and Resume for well, resume summaries etc. The only feature I wish was prominent is the calendar. And ability to change the obnoxious green default color. This app is my default app. Wanted not to like it but I keep going back!

won’t sync!!. for the most part, i love this app! it’s a great way for me to organize my writing. however, since the second to last update, it is so insanely difficult to get my phone to sync with changes i’ve made in my laptop. it only has issues that way; if i make changes on my phone, they show up just fine on my laptop. i‘ve had to log out and back in multiple times before it’ll load the changes. now, after the most recent update, not even that will fix it! i’ve logged out and back in FIVE TIMES, and it still won’t sync! also, i’ve tried the “sync now” in the app settings on both updates, and it never once did anything. i’ve never gotten any sort of internet connection error or anything either; it just won’t sync. the whole point of using this and not my notes app was that it was supposed to sync my work on both devices, and allow me the ability to switch between them easily. what’s the point of having the app if it can’t even do that basic function?

Almost a decade of use, integrate Tasks with Google Tasks account PLEASE. I’ve suggested changes in the past and was pleasantly surprised when it was featured in an update. Whether it was already in the works, a groupthink I tapped in or just my little suggestion, no matter, I was pleased Evernote developers met my needs. Now I have a new need: Allow Evernote’s task function to sync / use a Google Task email account. Evernote already syncs with Google Calendar, why not allow tasks I create in my Evernote app be synced and populate in my Task app, and vice-versa? I’ve been a loyal user of Evernote since 2014. It’s layout, ease of functionality and dependability have made my life so much easier. Some people swear by OneNote - and that’s fine - I wonder if it has something to do with the the way notes, notebooks are created and arranged? Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Continues to tighten the noose. I’ve had this app for a looong time. From the time they were “3Banana” and the to “Catch”. You used to be able to use on any/all your devices and across all interphases (app or web). But they continue to restrict access. Right now, you’re restricted to app or web only and not more than 2 SPECIFIC devices. They have continued to tighten the noose, which is a shame. Also, the recent upgrade to “Home” is a horrible feature in my opinion. When you’re not in “home” and using one of your notes, mere scrolling up or down easily causes the page to swipe right and return home. Finally, the search functionality is broken. When you perform a search, it returns a list of notes containing the search word(s). But when you select any of the notes, it doesn’t take you to the first instance of the search word(s), like it should. You still have to scroll thru the document and find the words you’re lookin for — when pretty useless, IMO!

The latest update is the worst thing to happen to Evernote in 13 years. That’s right. I’ve been using Evernote for 13 years. It’s been fantastic. I have thousands of pages of notes from work, school, conferences, lectures, etc that I’ve done for over a decade. They’ve recently updated the software and not only has it forced me to upgrade my membership with them because they only allow 2 devices, not 3 (like they had been doing up to now), but it has also completely slowed down the app. I’ve never had problems with the application lagging, but it seems that they’ve tried to connect the app to too many things that only power users (like me) might use. The result is that it’s constantly lagging and in many cases, not syncing or even loading. I’ve just written notes from a 2 hour management meeting which were completely lost because my iPad sleep screen went up and upon awaking my iPad, everything was lost! I cannot complain more vehemently since I’m now (finally) paying for a software that operates a thousand times worse than it did when I was using it for free!

Used to love it but after most recent update HATE IT. I am veterinary resident. I have read a lot of journal articles, all of which come in the form a pdf. I am paying the annual subscription fee specifically for the pdf reading and annotation features. Evernote used to pretty good at this. I could upload the pdf into a note. If I opened the pdf, I could read, zoom, navigate and select and copy text. Now when I open the pdf, I can only zoom. With the old Evernote annotation function, I could zoom and navigate easily, then use the highlight function to highlight important text. Now in the annotation function I can not zoom making it harder to read and nearly impossible to highlight text. Additionally, in the old version a little summary of annotations and highlighted text would be generate, so the next time I opened that pdf I have a lovely little summary of the stuff that was important to me. None of this is available in the most recent update and I hate it. I gave feedback to the Evernote team during beta testing and recently after the new release, but they clearly aren’t listening.

Notifications. Hey! I really love the idea of this app & am definitely eager to continue trying it out! Something I am having some difficulty with is being notified by the app when I have a note reminder set for a certain day. It shows up on my lock screen, but since my phone is unlocked by touch/fingerprint, I don’t always see those notifications because the process is so much quicker than with a passcode. This would be fine, except that the badge on the app hadn’t been registering any notifications until I open the app, so when I’ve gone for days without checking, I can find notes intended for days prior all accumulated & unread (one time there were 8). I would love to see this worked out, because I think it is such a great idea to be able to be reminded of certain notes at certain times & am interested in engaging with it. Thank you so much for your product! I wish you well.

Could be better. So, as of this year I decided to take a swing at Evernote. At this point I've been using it for about 2 months and I have serval gripes. For starters there is only one color for highlighting, which is awful. There also isn't any intuitive way to insert tables that I've been able to find, luckily I've been able to get around this by pasting snips of them in from word but it's far from optimal. I'd also like to have sub-folders within groups. It'd be nice to have a general folder for a class and then subfolders for in-person lectures, online lectures, and notes from readings. Upsides are the tagging system, that's been rather nice to have in the absence of subfolders, the UI is also decent and I haven't had any issues with creating folders or navigating between them. Overall more downsides then upsides, and that's with the premium version. I'm likely going to return to simply using Onenote like I used to in a month or so at this rate. I'll hop back over again in a year to two to see if there were any changes.

For old software, it’s surprisingly immature. I’ve used Evernote since it’s early days. Honestly I would have a hard time living without it. But it’s surprisingly quirky for such an old product. For example the iPhone, iPad, and PC versions seem like they came from different companies. I couldn’t tell you how to search via tag on my iPad but it’s simple on the PC. I started with Evernote on the Mac and recently switched to the PC. It was pretty different. Why? The editor is basic which is fine but it’s too basic. Creating tables is too hard. There should be more formatting options. And the dictionary is odd. Add something to the dictionary and the red underline doesn’t go away. And why doesnt the Windows version support touch screens? It’s a great concept. I love the web clipper. I’m glad to be able to access my notes on different devices. But I wish it worked more consistently across those devices. I wish I had more formatting options.
