Paper by Dropbox Comments & Reviews 2024

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

New design. They introduced a new UI design a while back on desktop. I am not sure why, it didn’t make anything function better, it just made it look worse. I used to use this app heavily, now I moved on. Can’t trust their updated and design decisions.

I love Paper for all the things it doesn’t do.. I’ve been using Paper for a long time and I love that it does a few things really well and then just gets out of my way. I love offline mode and syncing, it is great for writing in a park, on a plane, or anywhere else without service. I wish there was 1:1 feature parity between the browser and apps, and I hate the way it tries to organize my files, but otherwise I have few complaints. A solid 4/5 stars.

Most adaptable app. Paper can pretty much become whatever you need. It is the perfect doc for setting up a project or making something look good. So much better than google docs.

Unusable due to inability to sign in. Tried to use this to access work instance to paper, but I never get redirected back to the actual app after signing in with the web view. Work using a google accounts with Okta for SSO. After putting in google feeds, I get directed to okta and sign in, that successfully sends me back to Dropbox paper signed in, but only signed in inside the web view.

Undo has been broken for many years. I want to give this star 5 apps, but it’s plagued with really frustrating little bugs that eat into your workflow. Basic functionality, like copying text and pasting it in a different doc don’t work. Scrolling and positioning the cursor is completely broken on iOS13

Good product, awful iOS app. I’m using the app with a work and personal account. Switching between them is a huge pain and almost never works. It crashes, needs multiple restarts and generally wastes a ton of time. Switching accounts is a common use case that most work apps do easily, so it’s pretty bad this app cannot.

Dark Mode is missing feature. Please add dark mode to the iOS version Dropbox Paper. This being the only place it’s missing makes it less desirable to write notes in Paper while mobile.

Organization is dizzying. This would be an Evernote killer if you could choose how to sort your docs and if there were a static folder tree on the left. It’s so simple, I just want my docs to stay where I put them. I don't get why every time I open a doc it has to jump to the top of the list. There are no sort options so I’m stuck with recent files moving around on me. Therefore, I am not a Dropbox paper user. Too bad.

Needs ability to scan documents. This is my go-to app for notes taking. Very simple and powerful though. Still does not have the ability to scan documents, it can only take pictures. Apple pencil support will be nice to have.

Wonderful app for notetaking. Exactly what I wanted for note taking. Great integration with latex and markdown. I only discovered this app recently and really enjoyed using it so far. I have not explored the collaboration features yet.

Used to be good...very buggy now. I use Paper all the time, but recently the bugs have become too much! Everything loads so slowly, the toolbar above the keyboard keeps disappearing, and text editing feels difficult. There’s a bunch of other little bugs that make it feel like a chore to use. I hope they fix these issues soon, I’d hate to have to find an alternative

Instant Crash Upon load: fixed, would like ToC & word count. Decent app, but the latest update now causes it to instantly crash upon loading. Deleting and reinstall does not fix. The issue is fixed now and app works as before, thanks. iPhone 5se on ios 13. However I would still like to see the implementation of a table of contents and word count on this app, like Google Docs.

Great App. It works fine and ui is simple and nice but it will nice if you add dark mode , it will help a lot at night. I have dark mode enabled , you reply to my review suggesting to enable dark mode but i’ll already have it enabled so i think you’re confused with dropbox app, i’m talking Paper app

Awsome writing app. I absolutely love this as a writing app! The interface is incredibly easy to use and the way it appears on the screen is nice for blocking out other distractions. It’s also 100% effective at capturing offline work and seamlessly integrating to the cloud once you’re back online. I rarely use for collaborative work. But this is indispensable to me at this point. I wish they’d develop features similar to scrivener for outlining as well!

One Problem 👓. My Microsoft Word app has gone crazy, so I tried this app. I'm quite pleased with it. The way it connects to Dropbox and has everything you need for a basic document. Adding photos is particularly simple. But as a near-sighted person, I really, really need the option to increase font size over all. Ofc I could do that by using heading 2 or bold, but then I lose the ability to use those features as intended. Great app, hurts my eyes!!!

Almost perfect for basic project management. Just getting into light project management and this app works out great for it. Slightly buggy on iOS (even right now as I’m typing this the words are whitin white invisible), for example, I can’t edit timeline items dates in . Otherwise it does everything is Hope it would do, keeping everything project related self-contained except for text messages

Paper is good but could be better on iPad. It’s a great application, but it doesn’t have text zoom or dark mode on the iPad. That should be addressed. The text is rather small on a 12.9” iPad.

No longer works in iPhone SE. I have used this for years to share documents with my husband but for about the last month, it has stopped working properly. It no longer loads my old documents or renders new ones. It works on my husband’s iPhone 11, so I can only assume having a slightly older phone is the issue. All my other high use apps work fine so I’m hardly going to be forced to upgrade just for this but instead I’ll have to go find a replacement for it.

Love it!. This product is really useful. Just that last 5-10% to really get it across the finish line... if only it didn't return me to the beginning of the document when I've selected something inside a latex window and hit Return, and if only the desktop version had offline accessibility! Still, the only user-friendly collaborative editor with latex and markdown, which is huge for technical documents.

My to-go project management tool and wiki. I’ve been using Paper for 3-4 years now. I switched from Evernote, and I later considered Notion. What I like about Paper is that it has a beautiful user interface and limited capabilities to procrastinate, messing with how the space looks. It's straightforward to use, which has helped me get everyone I work with to use it. My favorite feature is creating tasks across different workspaces, and I can still see assignments by due date or workspace. This feature has enabled me to give life to my strategy documents, as each tactic has a link to its workspace. In this approach, everything we do now puts at the forefront what we said we were going to do to avoid getting distracted with shiny objects. Finally, Paper has also been a great tool to document all our processes to facilitate delegating tasks and onboarding new team members. Finally, finally, I love the keyword shortcuts!

Fantastic product. Great product, as good as (or maybe even better than?) Google Doc. Definitely did not download this because my other half told me to

Glitches and not syncing. Literally just opened and started two test notes. I start writing, there’s a glitch, and it says that the note I’ve been working on has been deleted. It then shows a page that says restore the doc to view it, and that the note will be deleted in 30 days.. after clicking restore it doesn’t seem to. On the main page it still glitches as waiting to sync edits.

Brilliantly Simple. Paper changed the way we work - for the so much better! It’s so easy to put together, cross reference, collaborate and make anything look great and well organized. It works great for my team and I.

Frustratingly non-functional on iOS. App won't open, can't move cursor around in text, changing to landscape view locks down document... the list goes on. So much potential, none of it finding realized. New complete stopper-level issues all the time, and I've had the app since beta. It's incomplete but decent on a computer. Update 9/20: I return periodically to Paper (for over two years now), hoping that Dropbox will invest any effort into turning its elegant concept into a functioning phone app. No luck yet 🤷🏽

Horrible. I like the app idea, but one thing makes it completely unusable, and it makes me shocked for the positive reviews. I am unable to navigate to other parts of the note easily. What the heck? If I want to change the title, I really have to fiddle around with it a lot. Mind you, I am a hardcore notes user, recently turned to one note, so I understand exactly how to navigate a notes application. Tapping on the point you want to move the cursor does NOT work, which is absurd. You have to often hit the “edit” button first to do anything. This isn’t a freaking PDF. If I’m opening up a notes program, I’m gonna edit it. Don’t make me hit the edit application, and furthermore, why is it so buggy and difficult to simply move the cursor around to different parts of the page? Amazing how a reputable company like Dropbox could miss such an embarrassing oversight. I like their service cloud service, but dropbox paper needs a lot of work.

Very slow, comments take forever to load. Love the webapp, but the mobile experience needs a massive performance upgrade. Everything takes too long to load, especially comments.

Beautiful and simple. Paper has replaced notes, sheets, and even work messaging for me. The app is seamless, and allows for collaboration at the level of Google docs, paired with the simplicity and expressiveness of messaging apps. An app I use everyday.

Fix selection on iOS for long documents. Absolutely maddening when you have a moderately long document: to edit at the bottom of the doc you can’t just scroll down and tap, you have to slowly tap every few paragraphs or it’ll jump to the top, and once you’re there, it might jump all over the place.

Photo upload from camera roll non functional for IPad OS. This app works great in most circumstances, however i cannot seem to add any photos from my camera roll from my IPad with an IPad OS with the now-latest version. I have tried updating my app, updating the iPad, rotating to different orientations, submitting different photos… nothing worked!

Paper document locking users in. It is ridiculous that I am unable to remove myself from a document. This seems like a scam honestly and makes absolutely no sense. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible. Seems it has been a problem since 2018. Dropbox dropping the ball on this one. I should be able to control my account and the documents that I would like to be a part of.

Back in working order! Love it!. Thanks for the quick response in getting a new build of the app out. No more issues opening Paper - all is well in the land of intuitive note taking :) thanks!

Timeline functionality is broken. I am unable to use the timeline to create schedules. Scrolling the timeline will jump forward years. If I’m not doing something right, how about a video tutorial on how to use it. I first tried Paper during its initial days. It was terrible. I just downloaded this app to see if it’s gotten any better and I was very impressed at first. I feel like this may be exactly what my team is looking for. Then...I tried to use the timeline. It would scroll forward a bunch of years , doesn’t let me edit the name of the task on the timeline, I can’t make new tasks. I had to watch a video on timeline just to see how it’s actually supposed to work because I didn’t think I was doing it right. I see other people are having issues with it too. Please fix this.

Just make it work and it will be 5 stars.. I love this app because it isn’t just a Google docs clone. It has a simple interface that works well. Or - should work well. There are some bizarre issues with this app that I’m surprised about. It works fine on the web, but this app isn’t very good. The app freezes sometimes when you return from another app, requiring a force-quit. Sometimes it just hangs for no reason. And when I tried to create a to-do today, the app said “try later or contact support.” I am certain that support would not be able to fix this issue. Hoping the devs read feedback and make improvements, because the idea and design of this app is great.

Can’t search for shared docs, no change of ownership. Frustrating that search doesn’t include shared docs and no place they are collected! And still no ability to change doc ownership. Online web app is very touchy about being offline even when internet is connected

It’s like paper, but way better.. Clean and simple. Even our team members who hate apps love Paper. A great way to share checklists and notes with our on-the-go teams.

Useless because inconsistent.... For a mobile note app to work, it needs to be able to both cache locally and allow collaboration or at least input from multiple sources. This app doesn’t always sync correctly or takes for ever to open up even if there is likely a local copy. Today I can’t seem to edit any of my notes making it completely useless to the point where I am copying the info to another application to edit them. Dropbox is dropping the ball on this.

Dropbox Paper is great!. I’m a cinematographer and Paper really allows me to build collaborative project sheets. I can add camera lists, lighting lists, storyboards, outlines and mood boards very quickly. After I share the doc with my department heads and producers, they can comment and edit. It’s fast, intuitive, it looks good....and it makes me look good.

Perhaps the best app for notes but…. It needs a dark mode. It’s perhaps the best app I’ve come across for notes and the only thing it seems to be missing is dark mode so I’m not burning my eyes out at night when I have a sudden idea I need to jot down. The formatting options are spectacular with header 2, header 1, bold, etc. And I like that you can collapse the headers to focus on the rest of the document on the web version and this should be on mobile as well. We should also be able to add hyperlinks. We can pictures, and tables. We can create folders for better organization. The one thing that drew me to this app apart from the others was SYNTAX HIGHLIGHT SUPPORT! Everything in this app is beautiful and genius. Overall, it needs a dark mode to be truly perfect. Thank you for this awesome app!

manager. If you enjoy making lists then paper is unique with template making ability and organizing your tasks in one place.

I love your product!. There is a SMALL GLTICH and I thought the best way to express my concerns was where you would look most (the 1 star reviews): TLDR: When you leave the app open; and put your phone “too sleep” (forgot the word); it causes the screen to “freeze” (for lack of better term); when you unlock your phone again...... you have to completely close out the app and start from scratch to get back to where you were So yea.... it was meant to be a TLDR. But that explained it well. I will probably also try you in different forums. I love your app, I’ve used you for file storage since the beginning. Dropbox paper is helping me organize my life. So thank you. That glitch is not a fatal one. But one to note. Good luck through the #COVID19 stock drop. I hope the community will recover and you guys will be fine. -Penablack Edit: Hey, I have an older phone. iPhone 8(?) but I am still on the latest OS. It might be because my phone’s hardware isn’t fast enough to handle the changes and causes the app to shut down. That might be important information.

Odd U/I, looks like web page. Doesn’t work with keyboard on iPad. Trying to get the timeline working wasted a lot of time. Perhaps this works on other clients, but I had hoped to use this for managing a project with my iPad. Editing information in a project template is odd and when trying to edit timeline information using the external keyboard, it is impossible. No response to keyboard input at all. Waste of time at this point.

Problems with ipad. I do appreciate the power that Paper has brought to our staff's collaboration on things. And overall I am satisfied with it - however, it's buggy when I'm doing work on an ipad. In fact the rating would probably be a lot higher but the request to rate came on the heals of my inability to create a "TODO" item for a staff member because of some buggy behavior of the menu. (The option I wanted was not displayed on the screen, but I could see the ipad positioned the menu so that it *would* appear to the left of the screen boundary - if my screen was large enough. Bottom line - I like Paper - it's great for collaboration ... but at least when you're working with an ipad (my main tool) - they still have some work to do to get it to work properly.

Why... I don’t understand how a company with such an awesome tool (Dropbox) also has the worst collab and note app (Paper). Every few months I give paper another shot because I love Dropbox so much, it would be amazing if paper was worth using…. But until y’all actually put some features in, make it easy to use, upgrade the experience , and please please please make it easy to catalog and store paper docs… I gotta keep paying for Notion and Craft.

Wish there was the ability to pin notes :-(. Decent substitute for Google Docs. I would love to be able to ditch Google Keep as well and completely switch over to Paper but I miss the ability to pin notes. Would also love if there was the ability to collapse list items as needed.

Simplicity with Great Features. I really love both the simplicity and extensive feature set of this app. It hits a sweet spot for me and so I have mostly good things to say about it. They seem to have fixed most of the bugs that really annoyed me, so that’s nice. The one bug that remains, for me, is that when you go to edit a document, no matter where you are in the doc, it scrolls all the way up to the top and then you have to scroll all the way down, again.

App will not load. As a paying customer, this downtime is unacceptable. I contacted Dropbox Support. They provided this statement, “ We're aware of this bug and [are] working to fix it. When we have a fix in place, we will contact you to let you know and release an update via the App Store, so make sure to stay up to date with the latest Dropbox releases.” They promised to email me as soon as the update is available. I have automatic updates turned on but this way at least I won’t have to keep checking.

It Seems Abandoned at This Point. Dropbox Paper was once the most promising app for documentation but Notion and others have surpassed it. Dropbox announced Version 2020 but never launched it. The mobile app has not received an update in nearly a year. As others have noted, the mobile app often crashes. Dropbox Paper lacks the ability to apply different fonts or colors to text, which is often used to distinguish specifications from copy. It’s impossible to duplicate a folder or even a document. If you send a brief to different agencies, they can all see each other, which is why we need the ability to create copies. The bottom line is that Dropbox needs to come clean about the status of this app. Make it open source if you’re not going to work on it anymore.

Mobile writing is a bit hard. Sometimes I would like to keep working through my phone but the mobile interface makes it hard to type, read, edit and in general I have a feeling that this app is not meant for mobile experience. It would be great if as a customer I can keep working as efficient as if I were working on desktop.

A new sticker set?. It’s a good app. Not much in the way of customization or formatting like aligning text in a table which seems like it could be added pretty simply. But has, always had, a lot of potential. With iOS 13 coming out a few days ago, all the major apps are releasing decent sized updates for their apps. But Dropbox Paper’s update? Just a new sticker set. That’s all. Being a productivity app, an update that is only a sticker set, seems like they pushed an update just to push one out. I don’t think any user of D. Paper was concerned with whether we would have a new sticker set soon. I like Dropbox Paper, I just would like to see some more attention given to it. So much potential in it. Just constantly odd developer choices.

Has a lot of potential. I would love this app if there was a ‘View All’ button under the search option. It appears as if there should be or is, but the menu doesn’t move and only allows you to see ‘Recently Viewed’, ‘Created by me’, ‘Shared with me’, and ‘Archived’. It appears that the app needs an update to be able to see the entire menu, or have a ‘View All’ option that is available online. If all files could be viewed, this would be a really nice and useful application.

Evernote or Paper.... I am looking for an alternative to Evernote and Dropbox Paper is coming really close. The team collaboration functionality and clean look is far greater than Evernote. There will always be the need for more features but I think this is a great start. If you are considering the switch, Paper is a good alternative and I would recommend giving it a try. Start with a to-do, team meeting note and a blog post with pictures. You will see how easy it is when using it with these and the formatting copies quite nicely into other apps and platforms. What I like: Team notes - the ability to be able to edit a note at the same time, comment on sections and to see who has made entries to the note. Clean interface - it's uncluttered and with the clean typeface I feel everything takes a back seat and I just write. Favorites - flagging a favorite and having it dedicated to a tab on the bottom of your screen. Very easy and quick to pull up notes I use all the time. What I want to see: Folders - to be able to organize notes and view them in folders on iOS Offline note composition - to be able to create a note when you don't have a network. Swipe to - archive, delete, favorite etc Evernote import - import notes/folders directly from Evernote. Looking forward to seeing more! Thanks Dropbox!

Highly recommend it. I really like the drop down text formatting.

Lazy. This app doesn’t even support drag and drop of text. It’s a notes app. Drag and drop works in standard text fields; and they somehow broke it. Also zero Apple Pencil support. In a notes app. Honestly a total waste of your time, don’t bother.

Errrr totally blank. Nothing there. ??

Brilliant. Perfect free solution for note taking, task management and internal documentation.

Bug infestation. So buggy. So so sooo buggy. Doesn’t update. Freezes when I try to edit doc. So buggy.

App crash. Just install and it crashes 🤷‍♀️

Needs refinement.. The app is slow to load and not very intuitive. Needs more work for efficient collaborative functionality.

Full of Bugs. Can't even write one page. So many bugs and just to name one, after typing few lines, text disappears. I want to make this my go to app for notes but it's so buggy. Please fix it.

Great potential but lacks some key features. I really love the potential of Dropbox paper. But the iOS apps are disappointing in that they are lacking some really key features. You can't add or organise folders or projects from the apps. This is almost essential to me. We also can't assign newly created docs to folders from the app which almost defeats the purpose of using the app at all. Especially when using shared folders

So many outages it is not worth it. App looks great, great design thank you. Have had outages of many minutes. It is not worth it as when the service is out you can’t edit the doc and just have to wait. Have had 2 outages in a 1 hour session, one outage seems to be 5-10 mins and still waiting. Previously have also had multiple outages in a session. Can’t use another app as the highlights aren’t carrying over. Won’t use again.

Am I missing something???. Dropbox Paper looks really nice and has a lot of potential.... but I have to ask.... am I missing something?? How on earth do you move into or create a doc in a folder?? Why would they release it if such a simple function is not working??

Love it!. As a Dropbox employee I've used Paper for a long time and just love it. Also, the app notifications are a subtle way of improving team cohesion.

Service great, App getting there. I love Paper on the web, but as others have mentioned the apps are a little behind. You can't highlight on the apps, nor can you add due dates to things. It would be so great to see this functionality added.

Soooo much potential. The Dropbox Paper desktop app on Mac OS X is awesome. The iPhone and iPad apps have a way to go in order to match the features available on desktop, such as dark mode. If the developers look after Paper, they could have a killer app on their hands.

Want to like it but I can’t find a use for it. I am at Dropbox Pro subscriber so this felt like a perfect fit for replacing Evernote. However, having used it for a while it seems to do not very much, not particularly well. It doesn’t integrate with Dropbox files, so no value add there It doesn’t have the same power and versatility as Evernote, so no value add there Does less than Apple Notes (ie can’t use pencil with it), so no use there. In fact, every time I have gone to it thinking “oh, it might be good for that” it just isn’t. I wonder who they are user testing it on?

Abandoned project?. 1. All the images that appear in my files are ok in the desktop App (iMac latest OS) but NOT visible in the iOS App (latest OS) 2. There is no toggle switch to expand or close sections in the iOS app 3. Looks like there is no way to add cells to an existing spread sheet section in the iOS app So much potential in this App BUT has this project been abandoned by the Dropbox Dev team?

Great product - buggy app. Amazing product on desktop, terribly buggy on app :(

Works well. Comments UX is a bit clunky, back and forth.

Fantastic app on web but buggy on phone.. I have an iPhone 5 and I have recently transferred all my notes from Evernote into Dropbox paper. I love the web version, it works seamlessly and rarely has any bugs even though it is still in beta. The iPhone app, however, seems to be very janky and glitchy when I try to write notes. Whenever I load up notes it takes 5 seconds to load and then the scrolling is laggy. Also every time I save it, it gives me options to either discard or cancel. I would also like if you could create a new note from the widget pane on iPhone and I could use it to quickly capture new notes that would be a perfect feature. I hope the app improves because even with bugs it is better than Evernote for writing notes. The simplicity and ease of use is perfect. I started using the web version on the very early days of the beta and I have come to rely on your software. Thank you so much Dropbox team for making an awesome product and I can't wait for improvements to come.

Latest version crashes. The latest version of Paper has been updated and works well across all Apple devices in iOS and Mac OS A perfect app for collaborative study!

Great app but. Love using paper but it really needs spell check or grammarly integration....

Awful. I was forced to download this because comments are broken on mobile. When I try opening the doc in the app (the mobile website is SO pushy about that) I’m met with a white loading screen that lasts forever. Finally it pushed me out to the Dropbox files app — NOT what I wanted — when I returned to the paper app, the file I wanted to look at (the only reason I downloaded this app) wasn’t there. It forced me through some onboarding junk then left me stranded. If you’re going to force people to use your app at least try to make it pleasant.

Changed my thoughts on paper and now a fan. Paper is distinctly unique and I first didn’t understand what it was. However, now I see that this program is not trying to replace google docs. It is different altogether. I have linked my office 365 account and my dropbox and now paper is the missing link to link all my files for meeting notes. I can now be paperless. Word makes things pretty ensures I spell things correctly and is by far better than google docs will ever be. My emails on my iPad are always saved to Dropbox by pretending to print them pinch out and save to Dropbox. Then if I have an appointment for instance with my specialist I have one file in paper that has my PDF of my blood tests, a you tube video on the new drug they are going to put me on, a word doc of all my current medications and a timeline for how the new drug is affecting me. I am not into collaboration with others live but it is good to tag my family if I wanted to. You can assign tasks and with a date but this is why I gave it 4 stars as there is no time and it failed in sending me any notification on the same day. Plus you can’t add a time. I can attach link to my calendar though. For what I want (making paperless files on iPad, pc and iPhone, office 365) it is great.

Preparing your docs. Stuck on preparing your docs. Too much wait time to actually get started using the app. Fail

Excellent way to collaborate. We recommend this app to all our customers at TechTidy.

Mediocre. Dropbox Paper had great potential, but has barely evolved since day one and it’s functionality has been overtaken by numerous other developers’ note app’s. It is extremely slow to sync notes containing images and is unable to accommodate notes using Apple Pencil.

Features missing. Pretty basic functions like adding our editing a table are not available.

Slow. Perhaps it's good for collaborative editing but as a private note taking app the unbearably long loading time for synchronisation is just not worth it. Sometimes in a mall, where the reception isn't great, I just wanna have a glance at my shopping list and I have to stand there like a tool for nearly half a minute.

Not working on iOS 13.13 yet. Let's see when compatability is fixed...

Can’t get it to set up. I downloaded to my iPad Pro and I can’t get past the set up now option. It just flashes back to the start again.

Crashes. The app crashes when I split screen. Also, the text box does not pop up if I want to do bullet form or make a to-do list.

Crashes. Still crashes when deleting notes. Also, without a Windows or MacOS app it’s useless.

DB Paper To-Do List Issues. My iPhone DB Paper app will not show to dos by date. The app sticks in what appears to be a permanent update - spinning wheel - mode. I have tried reinstalling the app to no avail, I have registered 3 complaints, with no positive response from DB. The rest of the functionality seems fine, but I need the to do list function

Better than I expected. Looks like Dropbox did lots of work for this app since the last a few months. This app works as fine as on the computer.

Cool but... No easy way to delete a file and reminders can't be set. Hopefully future updates have swipe to delete and reminders (:

Garbage app. I can’t get the app to open on my iPad Pro running iOS 13.3. It crashes immediately. Reinstalled but no luck. Waste of time.

Nice start. Great for a v1. However, search needs to be improved. Right now it only searches doc titles, not content. Fix that and you might have an Evernote replacement.

Works great. Deleting files could be easier but besides that clean interface, easy to use and easy learning curve

Please add dark mode.. It’s very good already

Doesn’t display correctly. When I go to browse all my documents it shows them all, but then all of them fade away except my 4 favorited documents. Then I have no way of navigating to those non favourite documents.

Not great. For a writing app, it’s pretty bad. Pasting more than a few lines of text from an external source, e.g. copied from a PDF, often fails silently, whereas the built-in Notes app handles it flawlessly. Selecting text, too, can prove troublesome. Likewise, creating a new note is hit or miss. Sometimes the app just sits there with the spinner endlessly rotating. I often find myself having to kill it and restart it just to open a simple text file. Lastly, the user interface is poor. The formatting tools — bold, italic, underline , are hidden away in a fly out despite ample room on the toolbar. Give me some always-visible buttons, please. The app fails to do what it is meant to do. The only benefit is being able to store files remotely.

Like it but...dark theme needed. I really like and i know that you will add more features.... but really i dont understund why we dont have a dark theme.

Garbage. Star a document for offline access? Guess what? When you open it while offline, the doc won’t open, you’ll just get a loading spinner. 🤬 Scroll to a spot on the page and then tap Edit. The whole page scrolls to the top so you lose your position. 😫 This app has been shoddy since day one. Dropbox has been making garbage apps on all platforms for a while now, and Paper sticks with that pattern. 😒

Such an amazing piece of software. The initial Paper was rough around the edges but now everything runs so smoothly! The ability to use markdown and embed all sorts of multimedia is fantastic. The best parts for me are: - Note taking using Markdown (no fuss formatting standard) - Outline/bookmark field organized by header type (large=level 1, medium=level 2, etc) - LaTex engine! That's right! Write awesome/highly sophisticated and pretty equations using the LaTex standard! Amazing for math/scientific note taking needs. - Embed media (videos from a link or photos copied to the clipboard) support. The best is the ability to caption all my pictures that I paste!!! It's like the closest thing to having a Word-like note taking tool and all easily stored in the cloud!

Totally unuseable. Google single sign-on is stupidly broken with this app. Keep getting redirected on to the login page even after confirming to sign in from google. Eventually I did get to sign in, but only onto the internal browser which means if I want to edit any docs, I will need to go through this process again ad infinitum.

Love But.... Absolutely love using paper, but wish it had the same functionality on mobile as it does on desktop.

Poorly Conceived. July 28, 2017 I'm a huge Dropbox fan, and it's been about 6 months since I last tried and uninstalled Paper, so I thought I'd give it another shot. Ugh. There are so many fundamental issues, I don't even know where to begin. Unfortunately, my previous review still stands. Add to that: - I can't delete documents without archiving them first. I'm guessing this is considered to be the equivalent to a Recycle Bin, but it's counterintuitive. An archive is a place to put away those past things we want to keep. - I can create a new document, enter nothing, and exit it. Paper creates an empty document -- which, of course, I can't delete. Paper later deletes it, but what's the purpose of the transaction handling if there's nothing to handle, only to later update the app's document listing to show it removed server-side. A simple "This document is empty, would you like to..." message in the app would save server cycles and user bandwidth-- not to mention having empty documents listed in Paper, which are later permanently deleted without confirmation, without my permission, and without going to the Archive. - I seem to have lost the ability to create folders. I have access to previously created folders, but that's it. Is this just me, or is it hidden so well that I can't find it? - I can no longer move documents to folders. - There are too many other usability issues that make Paper too much of a hinderance to use. Dropbox's collaborative hyper focus for Paper comes at the expense of usability for the individual. The collaborative aspects are definitely needed. I get it that they're creating a collaborative tool, and it seems like that target should be the primary focus, but every single user is an individual while reading or writing. The collaborative aspects should be seamless and transparent, while the interface should enable users to do what they are there to do. January 31, 2017 I've been a Dropbox user for a very long time. The core concept behind Dropbox is being able to access my files anywhere. I like the basic idea of this app, but I need to be able to edit basic text documents IN my Dropbox account's existing folders. This app cannot do that, and this breaks the basic concept behind Dropbox. Others are already providing collaborative editing, with Dropbox integration. Others are already providing collaborative editing with a much greater feature set, with Dropbox integration. Others are already providing basic text editing, with Dropbox integration. This app takes advantage of Dropbox's syncing functionality, established user base, and user connections/relationships. It does not even bother with trying to let users work with their existing documents. I was excited to use this app. It links to my account automatically. I fully expected it to allow access to my existing documents. What were you thinking? Poorly conceived. Uninstalling.

Great App!. It takes document productivity to the next level. Must have for team brainstorming and notes.

Google Docs with Medium’s interface and Dropbox’s backend. I wanted to like Paper since I love Medium for writing and publishing, and its strength lies in collecting notes and “snippets” from the web à la Evernote, making for easy review. Upon creating one document to work on, via my iPad, it had made it impossible to work on by glitching out while trying to connect to its servers, and a second strike upon losing the document altogether. It no longer appears among my Paper document files. So that is, unfortunately, enough for me to ditch this experiment and return to G Suite and iA Writer.

Dark patterns :(. The app popped up a modal prompting to review. Only options were “Leave a review”, “Send feedback”, and “ask me later” in very small light text. If you force me to give a review to stop a dialog from showing up, you’ll get 1 star, every time.

Move from Onenote to Paper. OneNote is good in is own right, but I’ve noticed syncing has lost some of my notes. Not ideal , even with the richness it offers. So ,onto Paper. The iPad app, so, so, better to stick with the web version. - Edit a document, keyboard take over ½ the height in landscape mode. Good thing you can hide the left side bar in document edit mode. - if the document is long, placing you cursor where you need it, start typing and the cursor is up and out of view, and you have a phantom cursor mid screen moving over existing text. You loose sight of what you’re typing. - try and highlight as word let alone a sentence to be moved?Forget it. The screen keeps moving down when you touch and hold. This only happens if the document is created with the iPad app, but documents created with a computer and browser, I can highlight a word using the iPad app??? - keyboard control to hide formatting and word suggestion does allow to hide. - - select BIU and it appear above and behind the keyboard edge. Only partially visible. - embedding attachments types is limited to on a computer, I’ve yet to get a supported PDF file to embed - folders listing: be nice to just see the top level with access to sub folders, instead of seeing all folders in one long column list.

The best app ever. For any work related notes. Loved having

huge app that doesnt work. cant create new note says to check connection while original dropbox app works properly useless until fixed...

A somewhat awkward app. For some reason, I cannot login to “paper” and see the document shared with me. I can only view the doc with the link that was sent to me from a collaborator. Have been using it for the week on a project. I guess my final thoughts are, “Meh”.

Pretty buggy. The concept is great!!! Finding more and more reasons to use Dropbox as everything and my main. But Papers needs quite a lot of work. And all I’m doing is moving my files from Evernote to Papers.

Amazing. As someone who builds software for a living it's hard to truly impress me and I am blown away by paper. I've never been willing to switch to an online tool because they all kind of sucked in one way or another. Paper however has reimagined what a collaborative writing tool should be and completely nailed it. The interface is so light weight and clean. Everything is where you expect it. The commenting tool is beautiful and it has great new tools like task lists that are crazy simple but also perfectly effective. Seriously the most impressive service I've used since Dropbox was introduced, which at the time was a revolutionary step forward. Please share with the product team how impressed I am. Bravo and I can't wait to see where this product goes!

A skeptic turned convert.. I downloaded paper the day it launched, then deleted it, then downloaded it and then deleted it and then downloaded it again. I have long been looking for something to fill the task niche in my workflow and I love that in this app I can mix notes and tasks, that there is a task view where I can see all my tasks in all my notes. I love how sharing works. I am going to be using this going forward. The only thing I really despise is how every time you open a note, it shifts position in the list, even if I didn’t edit. I wish that tapping on the note would engage edit mode, rather than having to find the edit button. And lastly: I would like to have a few theme options to pick from. That said, despite long running misgivings, this app now has a prominent spot on my home screen.

Re-install and now it’s fine!. The app has come a long way. Much snappier opening notes. And same can be said for creating. I use it for everything - Check lists - Drafts - Collaboration is great too!

Great word processor. Really high quality, minimalistic and functional word processor. Wish it received more support.

Not impressed with quality of the app. On first install tried to create a note on iPhone8 with IOS 11.1.1 type a title and the screen rolled upward making it impossible to see what I was typing. For each new word I brought the screen into view, and with each typed word the screen dissapears upward. Just deleted it, not very usefull if it can’t handle a simple typing task. PS I have uninstalled it and réinstalles, with no change.

Create to-do button doesn’t work. I downloaded this app on my iphone xr and I couldn't use it as the create to-do docs button didn't do anything. I was expecting a high quality product from dropbox!

Like the idea. I feel like this app is an excellent idea for the workforce. It’s not as user-friendly as I would hope but it’s pretty straight forward. I struggle with drag and drop. I would like to see a feature of unchecked items getting pushed forward automatically to the next scheduled work day. Also reminders that unchecked job tasks are not completed. Ect......

On iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen, IOS 13.3.1 the app crashes. To the desktop/homepage immediately

Good when it works. Can someone please share the .ipa file of version 172.2 I would much appreciate it

Great addition to Dropbox. Well done app. I moved away from Evernote and OneNote to Paper. There are a few things on my wishlist for this app but in general it works great. Wishlist: more view settings (abc, static (not re-sorting), custom view/lists) and smart folders would be great!

Update by document. Love it just wish I could get it to update for only certain people for each document. Trying to cut down on emails

App cannot find or display documents.. The app did not work, saying I have no documents. Even after I create one. Technical support was no help. Also cannot create or see todo’s. It’s too bad because I like the implementation on my laptop.

YAY I CAN SKETCH NOW. UPDATE: **thank you** for adding apple pencil support and sketches on iPad!! The usefulness of this app has doubled, and it’s finally relevant for our team Bless <3

Love it.. Would like more text formatting, though. I need italics!

Missing docs from other devices in ‘browse’. Browse doesn’t actually work. Nor does ‘paste.’ I hate Evernote and thought this could replace it, but evidently not. Basic stuff is all totally broken.

Useful to the max. Very easy and powerful application. We use it at work.

There is a bug. The button for inserting images doesn’t work. My only solution is to copy and paste images

I can not open the app. I could not open the app when I need to read an important document...no way to access to the document with my cellphone...

Missing dark mode. This app does not support dark mode, making it unusable. There’s no excuse for this, it’s a common feature on all operating systems, especially for mobile devices.

Crashes on open. Can’t use app because it crashes when you try to open. The app isn’t crashing anymore but the “ create to-do doc button” doesn’t work....

Needs more features. User interface is confusing.

Can’t open the app. Just downloaded and it crashes on start. Can’t use the web ui on the phone so I’m stuck not being able to read work docs until I get back to a laptop.

Paper is great. The fastest cloud text editor. Copy paste images very fast. A+

Good. App is useful and fully featured. Doesn’t have Apple Pencil support. But great for our team to share notes about potential clients, update dynamically, and have information shared among multiple users in real time.

App. Did newest update and everything works wonderfully!!! Love it

Can’t remove old shared documents. No way to unfollow a document that has been shared with you. It just fills your workspace with all the unused documents. It’s been complained about on their forum for over 2 years with no update.

I love Dropbox Paper. The app, on the other hand, is kinda trash.. I usually use this on desktop, but anytime I try to use it on my ipad or phone, I run into a host of issues. Can’t login. Nothing loads. Weird blank screens. Bugs everywhere. I’ve downloaded and downloaded several times and it just drives me nuts.

Great when it works. I love this app but recently it barely works when I try to open a document. It doesn't load. I have to close the app multiple times. It's super frustrating!

Love it: no “organize by name”. Before I get another developer response, this is not the “Play store” and NO I cannot organize my files by name on the iOS app. I can use “recently viewed”, “created by me”, “shared with me”, and “archived”.

This app is.... Awesome! I use it for planning and organizing everything

support?. seems like they are no longer updating and developing the app. there are constant problems staying signed in and signing in multiple times before successfully logged in.

Team Communication. Paper is a wonderful way to communicate with your team!

Terrific app with a lot of functionality.. However, while the web version has dark mode, the iOS does not. I would love to see that addition.

Almost perfect. Love this app. But why does it scroll all the way up when I try to edit something? Also no way to caption an image.

172.3 working well. I really enjoy the paper Dropbox app. Previous version was not working and it has been fixed

Seriously, Dark Mode Already.. Love Paper in the browser, but lack of dark mode leaves me only going to app out of necessity. Please. Ive been patient, but I don’t get the hold up at this point.

Notifications settings. There is no way to turn off notifications settings via email. I want communication to stay within the app. I turned off all notifications yet still receive emails of tasks that have been assigned to me. They come in every few days.

Offline broken. Offline mode doesn't work well. Can't view recent papers, therefore this app is currently useless for most workflows. Don't bother with a developer response that refers me to your support forum. Already done that. Still waiting for a fix; 14 months later. Please fix offline sync. Thank you.

Can’t adjust the font size. The app doesn’t dynamically adjust font size based upon device settings or offer a way to adjust manually. Despite being suggested by the users many times to support, the functionality is not present. Makes the app unusable in my opinion.

I love paper! So elegant and useful. My go to app for jotting down ideas

Missing important feature. There is no hyperlink for phone numbers in the notes. So I can’t make a note with phone numbers in it and just tap on the number to call. I can do this in the native Notes app on the iPhone.

Instantly crashes. After working fine for many months, the app started instantly crashing when opening. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app doesn’t fix the issue.

Taking over Evernote!. Very useful app, hope it continues to improve

Excellent product, not ready for enterprise. Love the features. Can’t believe our enterprise account has not yet been upgraded. Want better paper doc management in Dropbox.

Computer friendly not phone. As long as I am on the computer everything works fine. But on the phone I struggle

Why it can’t be integrated with my Dropbox files. Paper and Dropbox now are two separate apps. They should be integrated.

Paperwork. It would help me out lot so I need my setting for information so I have all of them

Newest version continually crashes. I’ve loved this app, but the most recent update as of January 2019 crashes on my iPad and iPhone. I’ve don’t the uninstall, reinstall, logout/login, etc. Nothing works. It won’t launch. Hopefully, a fix is coming.

Making life easier. As a general manager of a hotel..paper dropbox has made me a star Thank you

Great App, performs badly though. Awesome app by concept, use it every day but iOS app is not performant at all. Super slow, takes too long to load & starred/downloaded documents won’t even open with bad internet connection.

Love it. Perfect app for writing docs and collaborating - don't know what I'd do without it

I like it but.... Ok first the good Versatile, great for drafting, note taking and planning. AWESOME at collaboration—really responsive. The bad, Horrible at organization. This really needs a a hierarchy structure like OneNote or Confluence. This alone makes it hard to use as a go-to notes app. Features I’d like to see (and I would probably use nothing but Dropbox) Folder/tab/ hierarchy structure Add voice notes Make paper docs “embeddable” onto other tools like Miro Add #tags

Perfect for being productive!!!. I just started using this app and it is amazing!!!

SSO with google has been broken for a year. If you use SSO with google you can’t sign in because mobile web doesn’t give you the option to “continue” like desktop web.

Crashes on launch. Update is bad.

Poetry. Ive used this for poetry book roughdrafts for a while works amazing

Unable to sign in with Google. When I try to sign in via my google account , I’m able to get to the page where it says “Click continue below to sign in”, but there is no such button / link ! So I get stuck in the web browser and can’t actually use the app. Please fix this and I will re-review !

Like where you’re going with this undoubtedly it is necessary. Well done boys

I like this a lot it helps majorly.. This is a great tool at hands.

Poor performance on mobile devices. It’s buggy, slow and freezes constantly.

Paper is great. Little links here and there but love it.
