Don’t waste your time it doesn’t work. This app is useless. I downloaded and got my free subscription. However it wouldn’t ever allow me to add a password to create my account. It would, however start my “free trial” even though I can’t access the app. When I clicked “forgot password” it never let me get past that screen. Too many bugs. I don’t have time to waste trying to sign in to an app that doesn’t work. There are too many another options out there for content on apps that actually work.

Love this app. I love this app because I love history. I wish they would continue to add more Presidential history videos. I also wish they didn’t get rid of some of the series. I don’t see “How the States Got Their Shapes” anymore. I’ve been meaning to watch it, but it disappeared. I like that I can “search” specific historical categories. Hope they can add more and keep the videos in the vault and not get rid of them. Thanks! Otherwise, I think it’s a resourceful app! I also hope you can update the “History Here” app. It doesn’t seem to work anymore. I think it stopped working when I updated my iPhone. Thanks for any help with that. Hope someone can update.

I missed this all so very badly!. The very first time that I saw the history channel, when we first got cable television I thought it was the absolute greatest thing ever but ever since then instead of the channel being devoted to its name and living up to its name it’s become a never ending time slot of meaningless shows and programming that has absolutely nothing to do with any type of history, not US History, not world History, not human history just nothing! It’s really sad to know what it once was and see what it has become. This App is exactly what I would expect from the history channel and now that I have it I will never watch it on TV again. It’s awesome because I can even pick and choose my favorite type of History and the period of time that I most like. This is a win win for me and if it weren’t for the rest of my family and the fact that I am living on a disability retirement I would now get rid of cable television and save some money for having to pay for both and be perfectly happy with having this as my entertainment and also at the same time a wonderful opportunity to learn things that I had missed or overlooked in history. Please never stop expanding and reaching for all of History, and all of its many faucets, and uniquenesses. I am completely satisfied. Thank you so very very much.

Love this app, but unreliable…. I’m a history fanatic, so I really enjoy this app. When it works. If you have a TV that doesn’t have the app available for download and you have to use AirPlay, or screen mirroring… Good luck. The audio plays fine, but the video is completely out of sync. People’s lips don’t match up with what they say, and the footage shown on the screen is from the previous episode. The fact that it was working perfectly yesterday and the day before that is completely frustrating.

Content is great, app not so much. I can’t favorite shows to watch later. The only way to get them into the My Videos tab is to download them. Also the search is wonky. For instance I search for Hunting Hitler and nothing shows up but I can go into the collections and scroll, s roll, scroll and there it is. Fix these issues and I would definitely give a 5 star. The web site however has thing nicely categorized and searchable. And you can favorite shows to watch later.

New review. I had trouble with this app on my Roku when I first signed up but was able to get that resolved. I really like the programs on this service because the documentaries and series are in depth and not just 10 minute sound bites like one of the other services I’m using. I remember Biography with Jack Perkins when it was on A & E years ago and it was always one of my favorite shows. I’ve already added several titles to my list and there is much more to explore; I’m looking forward to watching.

Like it but you gotta pay.. The app could use some work. I would like the ability to stream it to a tv. I like the content but you do have to pay. I don’t have the history channel at home so for me it’s worth it. Also it needs a easier content search search system, there is a lot of content and it takes a long time to scroll through. Overall I would and have recommended it to friends who enjoy history.

Awesome content, bad app. The contents are awesome. But the app maker has done a bad job. It does not let me watch shows on cellular data, tells me to change network settings even though I have already enabled it on cellular. The downloaded videos cannot be watched unless I have network, at least to begin with, so what is the point of downloading? I can just stream it. The whole point of downloading is to be able to watch it when there is no network.

Crashes CONSTANTLY and needs more content. This app crashes constantly on firestick and roku. The history channel app has the same problem and has for years. I am paying for this and want this issue fixed so I can actually watch the content. Speaking of content, more needs to be added. Don’t you want to stay competitive with other streaming services? Put more documentaries and put the shows people love on the app that people are paying for. Curse of Oak Island and Vikings need to be on here. Want to keep your customers and keep them happy? Then give them what they are paying for. I hope these two issues don’t keep getting swept under the rug.

Typical misleading trial period. 1- no cancel subscription link in the settings menu within the app like it said there would be when I signed up. 2- need to contact IN WRITING to cancel, contrary to what was said when I signed up. You know how it is to cancel in writing. 3- after contacting in writing, they sent a link to cancel via WEBSITE, NOT APP, which is broken or does not exist. Seriously? 4- TBD after them “verifying” my account didn’t exist, I sent a screenshot with my email up top. Still waiting. Watching my credit card. My trial period ends tomorrow. UPDATE: I just received a response from A&E. Please refer back to number 1 in my review and remember, that option in settings does NOT exist. Read their response prior to signing up. That’s my advise. Update squared. I have gotten 2 or 3 emails notifying me of a developer response. I don’t know why? I think it’s to satisfy App Store.

History lover. Unfortunately I’m canceling this service. I originally was excited to pay for shows that knew were older but unavailable on the history channel app. I watched one show. Then it became unavailable. The search functionality on this in painful. I had to use my Roku device to find the show I wanted to watch. This app seems to be more of a history “back room” than a vault. I’d happily pay for this again if this app was truly a vault and I could watch the rare programs that used to be on here.

Very disappointing: Only some episodes. As a longtime History Channel fan, I was stunned to pay for this only to find that only five of the two dozen episodes of “Unknown Civil War” were available. And they were random rather than sequential. I subscribed assuming that I would have access. This is more like a promotional come-on rather than a legitimate paid membership. Oh, and btw it’s not inexpensive! What an amateurish, badly planned, bonehead way to run a business based on sophisticated viewer support. One star only until this changes or I get my money back.

Always loved the history channel. I loved the history channel well the old one not this new reality tv one, every day after school I would come home and put it on tv. I was always captivated by all the interesting documentaries on it, and now I can finally watch them all, on my own time, thank you guys keep up the good work

Thanks for nothing. I was excited to see some of the older history channel shows and that I could finally stream them. I signed up got a free week was 100% wanting to pay monthly for the service but after I signed up through iTunes it won’t let me sign in. The app keeps telling me my email is wrong but when I try to set up a new one it keeps telling me I’ve already set up an account. I never got to set a password. Plus usually when I subscribe through iTunes I can just restore a subscription purchase. What am I doing wrong?

I sure wish it worked!. I never take the time to write a negative review- only positive ones. So this is my first, only because I do want this to be resolved so I can enjoy the exciting content your team has worked so hard to produce. I have sent 3 requests for help but only get a generic template response with zero help each time. 1. I signed up and paid. 2. I selected my favorite films to download so i can watch on my many off line travels. 3. None of them download even with super fast WIFI for long period of time. App and brand new iPad open and operating with no sleep on. 4. Now I check again and 5. App crashes almost every time I select “my videos” 6. I delete app and reload it again. 7. It asks me to sign in- I do and it goes to payment page. No options. So I click on payment again- Yes I was actually willing to pay twice in hopes I can view your content. Then I get a message that reads something to the effect that “you already paid” and no other option to move out of that screen. 8. I have a company that builds apps. I’m not educated on the subject but am an investor who has seen many apps during the quality process and for sure we would have never released an app with all of these bugs. 9. Finally REAL History!. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy being able to watch high production historical documentaries! In my opinion, for those people who originally, the History Channel when it was first added to cable, became one of their favorite channels, this is worth paying extra. Although, my husband and I enjoy some of the reality programs, such as Pickers, most of them are don’t do a thing for me, and it is somewhat sad that the as cable channels are having to do more original programming and reality shows seem to be the most cost effective way of ensuring they get a slice of the advertising dollars, we are losing much quality viewing from the non-premium channels. The only thing I would suggest is that new content be added on a quicker basis. For documentary addicts like myself, we have viewed a lot of the videos already, with multiple viewings of some of my favorites! Just as a quick addition, when I first joined, I had run into some billing and access issues, which they resolved fairly painlessly for me. So, if that has been anyone else’s experience, it’s worth it to stick with them.

Content. You should make preview images and titles available to anyone. This way people would be able to see if it is worth it. If the see a program they would be interested in, then they can sign up. I was looking at this as a possible means for a different take on homeschooling history to my kiddos but I don’t want to give my credit card and then have to go through the pain of canceling just because I cannot see what is offered. I would be willing to pay $15 a month if this program had viable things to teach my kids. I am NOT just looking for the typical shows seen on the history channel. I just would like the ability to see what I’d be getting BEFORE having to divulge my credit card information.

Great app only one flaw. I love the history channel and am glad to have found this with the real history channel shows and not the reality stuff. The one problem is it keeps playing episodes after the first one has ended. I listen to some shows when I’m going to sleep and would like to not have it keep playing the whole series. Is there a way to stop this? Or maybe make the downloaded episodes play once and not repeat.

I have been subscribed for over two years. I have been subscribed for over two years, just today app doesn’t recognize me , or my email, the password reset don’t work. So fine I just cancelled my subscription. If you ever get this fixed great, but you owe me as now I can’t use it even after deleting app and trying new subscription as it still recognizes my email! ,,,until log in, then it says email address not in our system! You seriously have problems History Vault! No kidding,,,,

Disappointed. We are trying our hardest to save money & part of this was cutting our cable bill. We decided to get the History vault because in the description sounds like you are able to get all programming or able to get the History Channel to watch the series that we look forward to watching throughout the year. It was extremely disappointing finding out that we have to pay for the vault & still can’t watch the series’s that are on right now. Other cable tv channels have apps that you are able to purchase from a TV provided. Beyond disappointed! In fact, almost angry over this. Please consider changing this! PLEASE!

Oldies but goodies!. I was looking for the documentaries that I grew up watching in the 90's and early 2000's that fueled my natural love of history. If it wasn't for these documentaries I would never know what is beyond my environment and time in history. There's more to explore when it comes to life and the History Channel is what has inspired my curiosity of this world and who we are and were as the human race. I encourage all to indulge in the well crafted shows that explain where we've been. Keep bringing back the classics History Channel.

Inconsistent. I was enjoying the programs history vault offered but after only 2 days of use it will no longer load on my firetv or apple app and says no internet connection. I have reset my internet and all of my other streaming services are working just fine and at fast speed. Unfortunately I will have to cancel as I can not justify paying for something that won’t load and I can’t watch.

Maya/Georgia Connection. I love the Georgia Maya Connection documentary ! I have always thought the Maya civilization was so very interesting. My great grandmother was a full blooded Creek Indian. The process he took to connect the two places was amazing. The Maya Blue paint connect was huge. I did hate that they sacrificed 9 and 10 year old children by cutting t HT rot heads off was very upsetting. The documentary has made me want to know more and to research more on the Maya/Georgia Connection. Thank you so very much for making the documentary !

App Subscriptions such a fraud!!. First they tease you with a FREE app, then they tell you it will require a subscription. Then you have to pay monthly, and when you do, you will forget and waste money month after month, then there is no link to get to the programs, and when you find other links they require a other login, and the Apple fingerprint and password doesn’t work, then you cannot login, and then you have to go through “forgot password”, and then you give up in disgust... I wished they would just sell you the movie you wanted to watch, like the used to, but no.... now you have to agree to a ln automatic monthly shake down.. Yuck! Shame on Apple, Shame on History... I will now cancel! You could have sold me multiple movies a month instead of trying to cheat and enslave me...

Audio cuts out. Great content but older shows like biography are completely unwatchable. For example, Biography on Patton the audio drops in and out constantly. Tried doing closed captioning and just read when the audio dropped. But then about 20 mins in the video drops too. Newer shows seem ok. No audio or video issues. But the older shows will be hit and miss whether audio works. Would have kept subscription but not worth it if the shows aren’t watchable.

Can’t sign up; and can’t sign in ☹️. Having an account previously, I try to sign in but get “Incorrect Entry The email/address password combination does not match our records. Please try again.” After doing that a number of times, I hit, “forgot password” just in case I actually did. I get the response they will send a link to establish a new password. However, on that link when I asked them to do so, they tell me I have an email address that’s already established, and please sign in. It’s a constant merry go round I can’t get a new password and I can’t establish a new account. Apparently they don’t want me watching HISTORY. 😠

Stealing money this web app is criminal!!!!. I signed up a while ago. Apparently I keep getting charged money with no way to stop. My email is not registered and I have no way to contact anyone to stop paying or get my email account. This is criminal and not cool. I trusted the history channel but as with all network tv I am disappointed!!!! Do not purchase and do not get suckered into paying for this useless channel. I have NEVER been able to log in but I have been charged for this account for years!!!!

Content is improving, App performance is not.. I’ve subscribed to Vault now since nearly the beginning of it’s launch and while I will say that the amount of content has improved, the performance of the app certainly has not. Whether I watch it on my iPad, iPhone, or via my Roku, it crashes regularly. Sometimes I’ll launch the app and the entire home page isn’t visible, and then relaunch and it is again. If I am trying to binge a series and click to the next episode? Crashes and has to re-launch again. With the sheer breadth of apps and ways to watch historical programs available, I expect more from the History Channel if I’m paying the monthly premium.

Meritorious!. These Documentaries are well directed, given high budgets, well researched and professionally edited. It is a pleasure to have these programs at my fingertips any time of the day. I would have given this service 5 stars but for a couple issues. The streaming video player neither allows for viewing in full screen nor the ability to fast forward. Also ( as a historian) , in many of the episodic series’ I find an abundance of the “reality television” genre being used. These “Hardy Boys documentaries” should not be in the “History Channel Vault” as they feel and portray themselves more like a soap opera/drama and not as a legitimate informational documentary. They would be perfect in an app called “History Channel 2 - all new and un-vaulted!”.... Overall, I am glad to pay for this app service, and will continue to do so. It has a large and ever expanding library of films which truly does fulfill my desire to continually expand into personally unexplored of areas of world history.

Interesting, Accurate & Entertaining. I have completely enjoyed the history channels contents and accurate display of American History. This should be played in classrooms. The truth is the truth and it feels good and right knowing accurate history displayed in a way I can understand and remember it.

Great content, Apple TV app needs work. Quality documentaries for days! That’s the best thing about this service. However, the Apple TV version of this app won’t let you rewind/forward through an episode. That’s basic functionality that’s oddly missing. The phone app works good though

My favorite app hands down. I had no idea how much I would enjoy the programs on History Vault, but I LOVE them! Seriously, they are fascinating. And I pave watched a lot. I watch them on my iPad while putting on makeup in the morning, and in bed at the end of a day. It’s a wonderful way to forget about what’s going on in the world right now, and learn so many interesting things about people, events, periods and more. What a great and unexpected find!

Lack of Continuity across Devices. I should begin by stating that I value the content provided by this application. BUT.. I must say that it is close to impossible to search for a desired program. For example: On iOS devices as well as Roku (I’m not a consumer of any other cord-cutting options..with the exception of Apple TV 4K.) The GUI within the Apple TV app is in no way similar to all other points of access to History Vault on iOS devices as well as Roku. Other devices offer a menu feature labeled “Collections” I rather like this feature as it is easy to seek out what i have been watching and continue doing so. My reasoning to gripe is two fold: First, ther is no “Collection” option in the Apple TV app, which makes viewing options difficult to locate. But even more frustrating is the uselessness of the search option within the tvOS app. You can literally type the name of the show you had been watching on an iPhone/iPad/Roku.. and no search results appear. You can’t type the name of the show. If you’re lucky you can type in the name of the episode within the series and it MAY show up. I have found as well that the name of of typed episode must have all the letters correctly capitalized. ?? Again, I enjoy access to the content, but the efficiently of the service would improve infinitely if consistent options were universally available across all digital platforms, as well as some fervent attention to he application’s search capabilities. Very interesting and accurate. It’s an amazing app that I had learned a lot form and is very interesting as well. I give it 5 stars because it has about all the topics I could ask for and Is very accurate. I would say this is just as as good as the history channel and if not better.

I missed a real History Channel. I am so excited to have an actual History Channel back. The only thing I can hope for more is they are able to upload more documentary’s and educational shows from their archives. I would love to see the psych week specials from forever ago again!

Great with one drawback. I am a true fan of historical documentaries. I love the vault and its content some of which I have watched over and over again. The only drawback has been a lack of new productions. Once you have viewed everything in your favorite subject you have to wait forever until you see anything new.

Getting better, needs playback when locked. The app is getting better, and older content is slowly being added. The app really needs to be able to continue playback when the phone is locked or the app is in the background. One of my favorite things about History Channel documentaries is that I can listen without the need to watch: great for doing chores, multitasking, etc. If the app could play in the background, it would be 5 stars.

Very easily the worst app I have ever downloaded. This is easily the worst app I have ever downloaded. Application freezes on the loading “Go Beyond” screen 9 out of 10 times. Once it freezes on this screen the app must be deleted and reinstalled. If by some miracle you are able to get the app to load, it simply doesn’t work, freezes constantly and when not working or freezing, the app spends its time crashing. App is not capable of downloading and/or playing any of the videos on it Let’s see, other problems. Can’t download videos, just says “preparing download” never progresses. Streaming doesn’t work either, Any time you get an episode to start streaming the application freezes and/or crashes Any app developer who had any involvement in this application should probably give up on their career and find something more there pace, maybe pan-handling or juggling, because the developers have completely failed to deliver a functional product

Won’t even let me log in. Signed up and got a 7 day free trial, get to the end to finalize, and it said an error had occurred. So I go to check my subscriptions, it shows active, and then I checked my email, nothing from them, not even in the junk folder. So I waited about 24 hours checked everything again, Active, and Nothing. So I canceled it, and before I did i checked to see if I could get support for this issue, and the support FAQ’s sentences were so long, that I couldn’t read the whole thing to be able to make a selection. I really do like History’s older programs about actual history, before pawn stars and american pickers took over the entire line up, and I’m a little disappointed, and would need my trial reimbursed (which in itself will not happen) to even think about trying this again. I’ll go back to Curiosity Stream

App improvement idea. I love that I can watch my favorite history shows without commercials and I hope that eventually all of the shows on the history channel and app will be added. But one thing I would like to have is a favorites list. That way when I open the app I wouldn’t have to scroll through all of the shows to find the one that I’m like looking for. Just an idea, but it may already be in the works for a future update. Thanks you.

The best for students, teachers, amateur historians and fans. The greatest and worst moments of history are here, updated regularly, and presenting contemporary events as well as distant times. There is a large numbers of videos with a military emphasis, however also the lighter fare of reality show presentations from The History Channel. The greatest moments and leaders over the centuries are shown here. Definitely worth the price, and more.

New updated content please!. I do like history documentaries, and I see a lot a potential to this subscription but, I would like more new content like the recent added show “ two degrees: point of no return”. I love this that it was new with great definition and updated. I would also like to see shows from the history of Latin America region. I might renew my membership if I see that in the near future.

Decent. It charged me during the free trial and it doesn’t have all the same episodes the History app does. I found more then this season missing and many series are not there either. I would think you should have people pay for the other app and not make us connect a tv provider, why should we need that we can just pay for it through apple.

Information Central. Oh my gosh! I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve always been obsessed with History Channel, and History Vault is like a History fanatics dream come true. Especially when it’s a National holiday, I find myself binging as many videos as I can within 24 hours. They’re all so good!

Beware when renewing, here’s my experience. Long time annual subscriber. One month prior to expiration, I’d get prompts to re-up. I did, same big golden H icon. Turns out (my mistake somehow), I wound up with History History (not to be confused with History Hits). History History turns out to be exactly History Vault infused with many ads and options to “unlock” some to the popular shows, ie, Oak Island. I can’t tell if it’s hacked or intentional, but feels slimy enough to look elsewhere. Sorry A&E, you cashed the check.

History for all. I think this app should be on every child's lap top, iPhone, or whatever device they are using. I didn't pay attention in my history class, if they had such an app like this back in the day I would have learned so much more and with enthusiasm. I didn't do five stars because the app is in need of an upgrade with a search feature and library or favorites setting. Great job History Vault very informative and most of all I'm enjoying each and every program.

Useless. The only reason I wanted to download this app and pay for it is to have access to Vikings. The fake you with a documentary called Vikings, not the actual series. Same title, not the same show. I would give this 0 stars if that was possible for the following reasons: 1. We, the consumers, are too stupid to search for shows we want to watch. No search capability. You know, type somethings and you get a list of results. The 1999 technology. Similar comment from another user prompted an idiotic response from the ‘developer’ of this app. It is mind bending. 2. Not one popular show form the History channel. Just go to the history channel app and see what they present, nothing of interest is in the Vault. You would think the Vault would contain all their best shows, wouldn’t you? The Vault, otherwise call it Basement. 3. You pay money for this. This is not a free app so you would not expect only rejected and not so popular shows. Charge us $16 and up if you provide the quality. I would pay and I expect many would pay too. 4. A small list of shows that is not even organized in a logical manner is the only way to interact within this app. The user experience rivals nothing that I can think of since Al Gore invented the internet. Truly horrible with lack of vision and basic understanding of your customer’s needs.

Portions of each epppy edited out; Not all series or eppys. UPDATE: Despite all its flaws was going to subscribe for a month or maybe it’s 3 months for $10 promo. However, almost every episode has PORTIONS EDITED OUT. Most happen right after breaks that used to be commercials, but some occur right in the middle of dialogue and take out portions of scenes and even dialogue (if you have subtitles on, you can sometime see a little of what was edited out). Not sure if it’s incompetence or some other strange reason, but it’s VERY annoying and you miss info. ——— Before the History channel became a reality tv channel tailored to one demographic, it actually had a good stable of historical series. Most of them are here. However, some (like Secrets of War) are completely missing. And others, like Megadisasters and many other series, only have like half the episodes for some reason. On the iPad app (with the latest iOS), you can only view s1 of any series. Also, you have to cancel your subscription/trial at least 24 hrs before the last day, something which I’ve not seen before and that’s obviously meant to trick you into subscribing, pretty low. A shame, as I wouldn’t mind rewatching some old series and even in the last 10 yrs they’ve added a few good historical series

History Channel Comment. I would like to say that the History Channel has set a very high mark for anyone that tries to present past history. The overall quality of each offering is excellent. I have a difficult time closing my computer after I open a series. My wife says that the history channel is responsible for the dark circles and bags under my eyes. Zeb Jones

Accessibility? I don’t think so.. This application is extremely clumsy and difficult to use with voiceover. For a media company it is disgraceful to present your quality productions in this manner. I have read your accessibility statement, it is not true. You are not committed to accessibility for all. At least be honest in your statement. It is sad to know that many of these programs have audio description you just don’t make it available for blind people within this application. I really have to ask why? Social justice? Inclusiveness? It seems more like a lot of cheap talk. Kick the blind folks to the curb, thank you very much.

Disappointed. Disappointed that this doesn’t come with your tv channel subscription. I can access the channel through my Mac browser.

Not sure what's wrong but...... I was really looking forward to sitting on the toilet to poop and watching videos from this app instead of facebooking. The app will not allow you to watch videos, it just asks you to sign up for a free trial but does not send you a link to confirm or anything. It will not go past the free trial page. For a corporation as large as history channel, this is.... disappointing, to put it politely.

A and E scam !!!!!. Attention all users. (Most docs are 10 plus years old) This app will charge you twice. Once in American dollars and once in Canadian for a total of 14 dollars a month. The only app on ITunes Canada that somehow also gives you an American subscription! Once this happens no content is available. Zero support is given with this app so no new content is ever loaded.

App will not allow me to watch anything. Signed up and a no-go! Contacted support and instructions for fix do not work.unable to watch anything! Hopefully this will be rectified soon cause History is my fave! If not guess I'll hit the cancel subscription button.

Great selection of shows. Very happy with purchase.. Only disappointments is I was expecting ancient aliens to be on here, and that I can’t have it on my computer.

Sign in through TV provider ?. Why isn’t it possible to sign in and get access to content through my TV provider, as every other channels do..?!

No real changes to the titles. We subscribed for about 3 months. All the while hoping we’d have some changes to the shows. Always the same…. Some great vids, but once you’ve watched them, nothing new...

Don't forget your Vault password. The password reset page for this app is broken.

Doesn’t work. Started the free trial and the app loads a red screen that says history vault nothing else it’s only day two very upset I was actually willing to pay the subscription now i have to figure out how to stop the payment from going through

Can’t watch videos. It almost always says Error, can’t load the video. I contacted support and have not heard back in days. The content looks really goo too. I am sad.

Can’t chrome cast. I’ve tried everything. Have the newest Apple phone and the latest update. Cannot connect to my chromecast with this app. I can connect to my chromecast with any other app but not this one.

Doesnt work. Most shows won’t stream. Just error messages. Website doesnt recognize my log in info.

Absolutely horrible.. I can’t even get passed the step of creating an account, when entering a passcode which is more than 6 characters , it keeps mentioning to enter more than 6 characters. Haha won’t be signing up then XD. Absolutely horrible, I was gonna try and probably pay. Just lost a customer. Probably riddled with more problems once in the app haha.

No Chromecast Support. Good content, but not able to stream to TV.

Horrible Customer Service. Please do not purchase any subscription from this company/app. I had signed up for trail run that had a 1 month subscription. The account said in active but when I went to check on the account it stated you are subscribed. I made a complaint and got one email back 2-3 days later no response horrible service while trying to sucker me into the completion of the 5 days trail to kick start there monthly subscription that I would never been able to use. I email this company more than 6 times and I can tell you they don’t care about there app nor the customer. This is by far the worst customer service someone could get and I ask the question why is your app is on the App Store if your company has abandoned the service as proven through my emails and past reviews. To everyone out there do not become victim of this company trying to rob you for subscription money and ghost like customer service No rating no stars just Minus Zero

Problems. I signed up for the free trial and it billed me for a entire year. Also the app freezes every time I try and go into it and I have to delete the app and re install it in order to use it.

Awful 👎. With a lack of available content, it’s barely worth the price of the free trial. With so much they could offer, this is very disappointing. Better History Channel content on YouTube. No support if you have any issues either. Steer clear of this app!

Disappointed. I subscribe to this channel through my satellite provider and think it is wrong to pay twice for the same content to watch on demand. Won’t be signing up for this app.

Hot garbage. There doesn't appear to be one single show that has all of the episodes, which is great if you want to watch episodes 1, 5, and 8 of a show that had a dozen episodes. I guess. It will also suggest shows that aren't available in Canada, and when you click them it says there is "a connection error", there isn't your connection works fine, they're just yanking your chain. Unless you like ancient aliens there is not wnough content here for the price. Unsubscribed

Shouldn’t exist. Just a bad app all around. Forces you into a subscription knowing that older people don’t know how to cancel them. The content is absolute garbage.

Screwed up!. Decided to try the free 7 days to see the content. Wouldn't let me past the sign up page and kept looping. Finally got to the registration and subscription page. It let me make up a password. It just loops back to the sign up page! Had to unsubscribe. Very poor performance for today's technology.

History vault. Terrible app doesn’t work It tells you not available in your area after you subscribe

A ridiculous waste of time and money.. Please, don’t waste your money on this app. CuriosityStream is less than half the price and you can actually watch their content. History Vault absolutely terrible. No matter what video you try to watch you’ll get a “Error, cannot load video” message and despite several updates to the app since I subscribed, there have been no improvements to this fundamental issue. What are you updating if the app doesn’t actually let you watch the content?! I should be able to give no stars for an expensive app that fails to preform at a rudimentary level.

Too little too late. I love the programs that are offered, but after not being able to watch ANY videos for at least 4 months, nor even open the app for the past 6 weeks or so, coupled with a lack of response and help from the customer service, and the inability to watch certain videos since my subscription started, I still can’t give this app any more than 1 star. You took my money for a 1 year subscription and have given me maybe 6 months worth of functional service. So, even though the app is working now I find that to be too little, too late.

Absolute Garbage. $5.49 a month for one channel. They hide this fact until after they collect your data creating an account.

Missing some fundamentals. Really dropped the ball on not having recently viewed and resume functionality. Both must be very simple to set up. Very annoying not to be able to go back to where one left off, particularly in a series. Content could be more robust.

Will not cast to TV. App will not cast to TV. Support knows this (read other reviews) but has done nothing to fix it. The support page says to make sure I have the latest version (I do) and beyond that they blame my devices (check and reboot Chromecast device, check my tablet, etc.) I can cast from other apps but not this. How about if you fix your app.

Love the idea for this app!. Loved history channel back in the day when it wasn't reality TV... this is a great idea. Only 4 stars cause it's lacking Chromecast support - with that it would be 5/5.

The reason I'm going into teaching. History channel has always been my favorite ever since I was a child! They took out some of my favorite programs, but thanks to this app I get to rewatch those programs anytime I want! Amazing app!

Best app ever. I could say a ton of things. But the History Channel on the go...speaks for itself. Very nicely set up, easy to use, great content. Can't say enough!!!! Extremely good app.

New subscribers. I just subscribed and the app is offline cmon this isn’t cheap to be offline one day after I subscribe Please get the app back online, I know is NOT my internet, all the other apps are working perfectly at high speed internet so I know for sure is your app Very disappointed, good content but horribly built

Works some of the time. App for Apple TV has about an 80 percent success rate in loading. Some days it works great and others I can’t get it to load even if I reinstall. Wouldn’t be a huge deal but I’m paying a monthly subscription which makes me question whether I should keep the service...

Worst app ever?. Without a doubt, the most frustrating experience I’ve ever had using an app. Tried signing up for a free 7 day trial and got stuck in a never ending loop of of sign-ins and various messages saying I didn’t have a subscription and that I did have a subscription - never being able to watch any content at all. Someone should lose their job for the complete and total lack of functionality of this app.

Great content, terrible interface.. The History Vault app is a good way to catch up on History Channel content you’ve missed. However the interface - from its poor search function, to its inability to easily move forward or backward during a show - is terribly frustrating. I hope future iterations will fix these issues, as the shows are engaging.

Enjoyable. I’ve really been enjoying History Vault. I’ve been able to watch some great shows that I haven’t seen in years. I wish they would add some more content like “History’s Mysteries” & “In Search Of”

Not working. Love this app. Lots of great history documentaries. The free trial showed me exactly what I wanted. when it was working it really needs a memory so you can go back to the show you were just watching. This is an expected feature that needs to be apart of the vault.

I understand Moses better today. Thank you.. This was a factual account of Moses. He was a leader and a Christian. I have read through the Bible 5 times. It is great to see historians account from education. So I love History channel.

Meh. Not much of a selection. Just wanted to watch Watergate doc. Not very user friendly. Rarely gives you an option to resume same episode watched previously and can only access it by searching for title again. Will drop after trial

Please fix the Casting problem!. We love all the content of this app, however, it is the only app on our IPad that cannot cast to our all THREE of our TV’s. Please put out an update for this issue, thanks!

Worth It!. Lots of content for a history lover! Wide variety, keeps me entertained during quarantine, and I’m learning :) Definitely worth my $5. Easy to use and always works.

Why so little??. I like this app. I would love it more if they had more documentaries. There is hardly any world history documentaries. Where is the history of Persia? Where is the Ottoman Empire? Where is the history of the Middle East? Korea? Israel? Why is the story of Washington available but not Sons of Liberty or Grant???

Poorly labeled buttons make the app hard to use with my screen reader Voiceover.. While I love to use the App to wach documentaries, poor button labeling in the app makes it hard to control content playback with Voiceover in iOS 13. I will continue to watch great shows on the app and watch for improved accessibility.

Quality programs, when it works. Love the content, and when you get to an actual episode, it’s a great service. Getting there is a chore on both Apple and Firestick. I usually can navigate from section to section, but selecting an actual episode is difficult and often leads to a restart. 4,5,6 attempts later and I usually can get it to work. Good thing I’m a patient person!

No Alone, canceling now.. History Channel has two apps, one that has all the programming you want to watch but with more ads than anyone should have to watch. Or you can get this and pay for no ads but lose a lot of programming. Either way, please avoid these people and their ‘craplications’.

Clunker … half empty clunker. Signed up for the free trial, entered payment information and - now it says I’m signed in with a renewal set for a week from now (at end of trial), but when I try to watch it says I don’t have an active subscription. So - …. I can’t pay and I can’t watch and it loads slowly and doesn’t have all the history shows. ….. frustrating. Just mind-numbingly frustrating to use this counter-intuitive thing. Yeesh

So this is where the history channel went!. I’ve been wondering where all the actual history content went! Fantastic it’s boomerang but for the history channel.

Garbage selection of shows. It may have "History" in the name, but it has none of the shows I attempted to look up that I watch on the History Channel app. This is not a solution for those of you looking for legal alternatives to watch the shows without all those horrendous ads.

Review. I am a self-proclaimed historian, enjoy the app however I've already gone through most of the things that I like, it's unfortunate everything is not updated more quickly.

Content over quality app. App is missing features like recently watched/ history which is frustrating but the content is amazing and feels endless and it’s only 5$ a month or 50$ a year just a coffee a month for so much content is absolutely unheard of

Con app. This app does not allow you to watch any shows except for the ones they have already picked out for you to watch. It doesn’t even have a search engine to even allow you to search for particular shows. You are pretty much stuck watching what they have arranged for you to watch. To not purchase this app. It is a con.

Content great; app not so much. App freezes, won’t open unless there’s a data connection (which defeats the purpose of downloading the content earlier). Even right now, it just won’t open. Have to delete and reinstall.

Terrible Support. I have emailed several times with an issue concerning canceling my subscription. Each time I have received an automated response and no attempt to address my issue! I need to email a REAL PERSON, or a supervisor who can actually deal with my issue. I can not retrieve a password to my account because the email I signed up with has been terminated. Terrible support. Don’t have a service if you do not have the means to support it!

Seamless!. This is a terrific application! I’ve never had ANY problems. There are plenty of films especially if you are interested in a wide array of topics. No commercials. No money-grab. Just History and loads of it! Truly, what more would you want?

Trouble downloading shows. I enjoy the selection of shows and movies that history vault provides, but I can’t download shows, every time I hit download on a show or movie it says waiting to download on the my list screen, I’m on the latest version of the app and IOS and it still won’t download my shows and WiFi is good, it would be a five star rating for me if I was able to download my shows.

Need another app. While a military history channel has been created (thank god), and allows us to view some decent documentaries, it seems like the only way to get my hands on the ones I want to see is to buy them on disc. Neither of these apps have more than a handful of documentaries on ancient civilizations, and I had hoped that would at least still have barbarians. Hoping they will remedy this, but I'm not sure.

Needs a bookmark option. The app is well put together and otherwise 5 stars for its quality but it is frustrating to browse whenever I want to watch a video or be forced to download for a playlist.

There is no Spanish language. I grew up watching history in Latin America and series were dubbed in Spanish. I wanted to share some great series with other members of my family but Spanish support is a must, otherwise I’m happy to have access to some good documentaries

Smarter workouts. While everyone else at the gym is watching some airheaded show on the big screens, I’m getting my workout while lost in history. My daughter gave me this subscription for Christmas — one of my favorite gifts ever.

Issues Synchronizing Across Other Devices. When I filled out the quick sign up I immediately notice NO OPTION to sync the Vault app on my iPad to the already paid for Vault app on my Apple TV. It only took me through the prompt of signing up and starting a new account and that’s it. Is there a way to connect already existing accounts? If so I’ll give five starts.

Love this app!!. I’m a history buff, and this app fulfills my cravings for actual documentaries. I’ve not even logged into my other streaming apps for weeks. Love that y’all add new shows each week. The price is awesome for the content. Keep up the awesome work!!

You cannot create an account?. I downloaded this app because I am a huge fan of history, and it asks me to either start a free trial or sign in. I go to sign in because most apps have a button that says create account on the sign in page, but there was no create an account button. This app already started off terrible because I can’t even use it.

Password Incorrect Only on iPad. Love the content of this app when I can access it. I have no problem with it on a web browser or via Roku. But the same password doesn’t work when I’m logging in on my iPad. I reset the password and still nothing. Not sure why this isn’t working but it’s pretty annoying.

Version upgrade. I did really like this app and pay for it every month but now since you have to be on a certain version of iPhone I can not watch this app. This should still be backwards compatible since I pay for it. Not happy with this app and considering canceling and deleting the app.

Love the Programming. Ok so I added Vault to my Xfinity cable subscription. I can watch most shows on the Xfinity app. However, there are some shows which are available for "in home" only. But if I drop the cable subscription and sign up through the app, I won't have it available on my tv at home. Any way to bridge the two without having to pay twice?

iOS 14 update broke app!. I used to be able to turn the phone sideways and watch videos full screen, but after the iOS 14 update rotating the to landscape does nothing and so playback is not fun to watch. If they don't fix it quickly I will unsubscribe

The Real History Channel. History Channel when it was great; when the shows were truly about history and documenting the past. Great app. If you want the new reality show and Netflix aspiring History channel, this is not that app.

Enjoy the content but.... I enjoy the content and for $5 bucks a month it’s worth it but it would be great if you could have the option to save to your list for later in the app instead of having to go on the internet.

Doesn’t sync well with the App Store.. I signed up for the free trial for ios, it took me a while to figure out how to create an account and then what to sign in with in order to have it built my Apple account.. finally figured it out. I am very happy to have actual history to be able to watch though!

Educational programs. I am so happy that I finally found an app that allows me to see so much history and interesting programs ( so different from regular series. I am Absolutely Interested in everything that the History vault offers ....

Best app off all. So far this is the best app I’ve seen. This is what our kids should have not the garbage out there. History vault should be nominated best teaching app yet. The story format keeps you interested and the way is layout is just great.

Missing most content. The free History app has more content than the paid version or “vault.” Trying the free trial but won’t be continuing service. There’s no reason to pay for less content. Paying for no commercials and less content doesn’t make any sense. This app does run better than the free app though.

Awesome. There awesome simply awesome true stories of facts that have happened in our nation that still have a lot of unanswered questions. Loving it every time i watch it!

Vault of Gems. The series, persons, events are presented in an engaging way. The selections in each series opens new doors to the gems in our past . Worthwhile for anyone interested in history.
